She quietly weeps on her husbands shoulder before regaining her composure.

A couple weeks passed without Eryka using her quincy powers.
After pondering on it for a while she went to the council of the elders (The old spiritual leaders of the quincy who live in Germany) and asked them to allow her use of Letzt Stil.
She decided that her life as a quincy will never be the same again and instead decided to become an ordinary woman and leave the fighting to those who still can.
She never fired a Heilig Pfeil ever again.

Did she ever regret it? Maybe, just like with most important decisions.
But being able to spend ample time with her son and watching him grow made her confident that she made the right choice.

Meanwhile in Hueco Mundo:

Last night Pesci went to sleep as a regular hollow.
Today he awoke as a freshly transformed gillian and he is making sure everyone is aware of that fact.
For the last two minutes he was screaming at the top of his lungs and it managed to awaken everyone in the group.
The various individuals whom gathered around to observe Pesci flipping out are making various, often snarky comments.

Pesche is the first to start joking about the situation followed by Dondochakka.

Meanwhile Alex is ecstatic about her new playground in the form of Pesci and Neliel is grabbing the long tooth at the center of her mask with her index finger and her thumb, suggesting that her nose is actually located roughly behind the row of elongated teeth.
The only one who doesn't really make any reaction is you, as you were aware that he could transform any second.

You decided that there is no reason to get carried away and instead calm Pesci down.

This gets you thinking.

But now that Pesci calmed down and the others are occupied with messing around with him you should get to work.
Your arms still hurt a little after yesterdays exertion, so you won't make such an impressive progress.
Now all you have to do is decide what to do with your free time.

You could keep digging into the tree, perhaps make an actual room connecting to the main hole.
Or perhaps you could set up a defense perimeter to secure this place a bit.
Alternatively you could go out and get some food, perhaps you could even show Neliel what you meant by a steady food supply.
But you could also laze around after yesterdays hard work, or pass the time by getting some training that you neglected for some time now.

Your only reaction to this is making sure that plenty of blood flows into your gills and they flare up in a red light.

The two of you go for about ten minutes at top speed before you actually reach a place where there is any hollow activity.
Neliel immediately begins searching for regular hollows but you quickly shut her down.

"We are not looking for regular hollows."

"We aren't?"

You shake your head dismissively.
Afterwards you activate your Pesquisa and begin searching for a suitable herd of gillians.
The only one that is anywhere near you is still pretty far away, so you signal her to keep going.
It took another fifteen minutes before you found the location of the herd.
When they are within eyesight Neliel begins looking at you, clearly puzzled.

"We came quite far just for a gillian.
What was your reason for coming all the way here exactly?"

"Who said anything about only one?"
Neliel clearly lost you after that one comment.

But you think it's easier to show than to tell and proceed with your plan.
With one hand you create a small thread of mucus between your fingers and with a swift sonido you put your makeshift leash on the gillians.

Three adjuchas class hollows and they are probably after the gillians."

If they are indeed looking for trouble you'll be outnumbered.
Running is not an option with the gillians in tow, so you patiently await their arrival.

When they arrive you are greeted to a familiar sight.
The one hollow who served as your welcoming committee to Hueco Mundo is amongst them.

"Oh, shit!"
She speaks up.
"I was not expecting this.
What's up little guy?
You've actually grown weaker since the last time I saw you.
Congrats."

You tell Neliel the truth and then turn to the familiar hollow.

You quickly turn to Neliel.

With her lance she managed two shove the two males aside and manages to hold them off but it's unlikely that she can beat both of them.

Meanwhile you decided to throw caution to the wind and release your entire reiatsu.
You still can't hold it back perfectly while fighting and it actually compromises your ability to fight properly.
With a loud scream you let your reiatsu explode outward, the blast quickly digs itself a large crater under your feet.
It seems that Aimee actually took notice of you and she licks her lips.

"Oh yes, that's the stuff!
Now BRING IT!"

*Oh shit!*
That was the only thing you could think before she shot herself towards you.
With her fist extended forward she crushes into your arms as you raised both of them to block.
The incredible power not only manages to shoot you off into a nearby quartz tree but it probably broke a bone in your right arm.

"Come on!
You were talking all that good shit a second ago!
Now fight back!"

She comes at you again with such blinding speed that is honestly surprising from such a large hollow.
But this time you actually managed to retaliate, if only because you anticipated her charge before it happened.

"Cero!"
The blue beam erupts from your two extended fingers and actually engulfs her entire frame in a turquoise light.
What you didn't expect is her traversing the path your attack took and actually emerged from the blast while it was still going hard.
With her fist already ready for the attack she punches you straight in the gut and punches you through the tree.

As you are flying through the air even after you passed through the quartz you start thinking.
*How the hell do I beat this?*
After crashing to the ground you manage to stand up before her next attack.
Luckily your torso heals instantly as it is not weakened like your arm was.

But as you are thinking of a way to beat the monster of a hollow that is in front of you something happens.
Neliel who was holding her ground up until now took a fatal blow.

You wanted to warn her but even you noticed the attack too late.
One of the two hollows stabbed her in the back with a broken piece of quartz.
The attack landed roughly around where her liver should be.
While she screamed like a banshee after that the other hollow clenched both of its fists together and clobbered her over the head, sending her body crashing to the ground.
After the impact she goes limp, she doesn't even seem to be twitching.

Immediately your heart skips a beat and images of the tear filled eyes of Pesche, Dondochakka, Alex and Pesci flash in your brain.

"I'M YOUR OPPONENT SHIT FOR BRAINS!"
Aimee lunges at you once more with yet another one of those mighty blows.
But you don't have the capacity to dodge, instead...

The sudden expansion of large kinetic energy, much like an explosion, raises a huge dust cloud over the battlefield.
Aimee couldn't see a damn thing, but she is grinning because she knows the attack hit its mark.
But as the cloud creeps away and reveals the result her mask shifts drastically from an expression of satisfaction to one of horror.
At the other end of her fist an arm can be seen touching it.

But calling it an arm is too generous, instead it could be accurately described as a mangled mess of flesh and bone.
Every bone in the lizard like hollows arm broke and many of the fragments tore the connective tissues around it to shreds.
If that wasn't enough the sheer force of her punch caused large, deep, open wounds all over the arm.
And to top it all off it seems that all bones were disjointed as well.

If it was her then she'd be screaming her lungs out right now but the battlefield is deathly quiet right now.
The only sound that can be heard is the slow and heavy breathing of the hollow that is currently holding her in place.

Afterwards the fingers of the hollow pry themselves open, like rusty hinges and the fish-lizard thing begins walking toward its comrade.

She raises her fist to deliver another blow but before she could slam down her fist her muscles become tense and cramp up.
In that moment she can feel an almost ghastly wave of chill run up her spine, then she begins to feel cold.
By the time she realizes that she can't move she also figures out that she can't breathe anymore.
Every fiber of her being is resists her desire to move and instead freezes.

In this case it's an act of self preservation from Aimees own body.
All of her bodily functions, except cognitive functions suddenly came to a halt.
The image of the hollows neck almost turning one-hundred and eighty degrees only to reveal the vacant, lifeless eyes forever got burned into her mind.

As the small axolotl shambles towards his unconscious comrade the two adjuchas suddenly speak up.

The large hollow then winds up a punch and swings towards his enemy.

Aimee finally snaps out of it.

But as his fists are about to make contact the hollow vanishes only to appear behind him in its one useable hand is a thread.
As it moves its hand loud cracking noises can be heard.
Aimees lackeys limb get dislocated and broken simultaneously, while his ribs snap and begin piercing his lungs.

With that done it just keeps staring at it for a good five minutes without moving an inch.
Then suddenly it picks up the centaur with its one good arm, trying to hold it in a proper position and begins walking off into the distance.

That was the single worst day of Aimees life.


Meanwhile at the base of a large tree.

Pesci is now quite tired of the others constantly pestering him.

"They've been gone for two hours now.
Where are they?"

Just as he said that he could feel the familiar presence of Neliel off in the distance, but it was coming rather slowly.
Pesci got a really bad feeling.

"Get yourself together!
They are coming and I think they might be in trouble!"

After readying the others they all went where they could feel the faint power of Neliel coming from.

When they saw them they all began running towards Kaizar who was carrying the seemingly unconscious Neliel.

"Lady Neliel!"
"Kaizar!"
Pesche screams alongside Alex as they both hurry towards them.

When they get there Kaizar collapses onto the ground.
Pesci doesn't even know how to react to this, all he knows is that he has to take charge.

"Give them to me!
I'll carry them back home!"

Using Pescis gillian body they moved their two unconscious leaders back to the tree they call home.
Both of them were in rough shape and neither of them showed any signs of waking up anytime soon.
Pesci grew ever more concerned.

"What could have happened there?" He asks.

"I-I have no idea..." Pesche replied, for the first time in a serious tone.

While you are standing outside and guarding the place vigilantly you notice something.
The large pile of goop that Kaizar left there before they went hunting.
It makes you feel uneasy that this thing might be the only thing that will remind you of him, should he not make a recovery.

But you quickly shake those thoughts away.
It's a bad omen to think about someones death.

After an hour or so Pesche and Alex return with three regular hollows.
It's not much, but it'll have to do for today.

Pesche seems to have calmed down a little perhaps it was the hunt itself perhaps Alex in the end it makes no difference.
You call Dondochakka out and the four of you start eating.
But this time dinner goes by without anyone saying a word, it's an unwelcome change.

Afterwards you tell them that you should rotate who keeps watch over the injured.
In addition you also recommended that they bring Kaizar out to the open so you can at least watch over him while the others only have to make sure about the health of Neliel.

You put Kaizar to the spot he usually sits at and for most of the night you actually manage to stay awake and only doze off after several hours.
The next morning people seem to be in high spirit as Neliel actually woke up as well.
Though she is still too weak to move, it's good to see that she will be alright.

"How shameful, being such a burden." She begins coughing heavily while Pesche and Dondochakka get nervous once more.

You just make sure to get better!"
Pesche reassures her.

It seems that she doesn't like to hold back others at all.
So you ask her to take things easy for a while until she gets better.

But this is good.
It looks like she is in no serious danger and that made Pesche and Dondochakka quite relieved.
While they begin returning to their former carefree selves you keep watch over Kaizar until he wakes up as well.
However after the hours keep passing you realize that it won't happen anytime soon.

You even tried to take a closer look at his arm but the sight was too gruesome for your liking.
Muscles and bones snapping back into place slowly is truly disgusting.

Alex is sitting next to you, she probably wanted to use you to block Kaizar from her vision.

Becoming an Arrancar bridges the game between shinigami and hollow, so if we do that and continue on that path somehow, we can basically become a new kind of being who has a "whole" soul despite being re-birthed as a hollow

Actually, evidence is that it turns us into something so far from a shinigami that you can't cross the distance. Embracing the inner monster in Kaiser sounds like a terrible idea.

So I guess as Hollows evolve more they basically fill up their soul with shreds of humanity in pluses and hollows, but in order to keep their forms they need reishi, thats why they eventually eat hollows-gillian-etc

All the vasto lords we have seen become humanoid in this form, Barrigan, Hallibel and Ulquiora are examples, they arent human looking like arrancars are but they are humanoid. Question is, after this stage do they continue to become more human?

Like what would you think a pure hollow eventually becomes? Im thinking they become even more human than an arrancar because instead of meshing shinigami and hollows they regain all the humanity in their souls back

Shinigami and hollow are naturally similar, that's why a body can have reiryoku from both in it without any real problems, how do you go from something that is similar enough to meld two types of power to being something totally incompatible?

There´s no way a hollow can drift away from shinigami considering the 2 are so closely related, hell you can even make hollows out of shinigami souls and zanpakuto are made from hollows aswell

I agree, OC´s and new factions make a quest interesting but something about changing the rules always comes across a bit snowflake-y and awkward

For instance the divine ki added to Shinigami Savant Quest was a good justification for things but it feels tacked on because its not in line with the story.
And its not even that bad because its hardly ever brought up and it doesnt change the setting, just changes the meaning of some things.

But a whole new stage of evolutions going to be strange and if its not done well it will alienate some of the playerbase.
