Your son is going to be okay, and this thought fills you with immense relief. Then you recall that someone hurt your son, and your hands start to shake. The anger builds as you push yourself to your feet and you're filled with a manic sort of energy. This world is going to burn, and you're going to be the one that sets it alight. The spirit, its disciples, its minions, its servants; you'll see every last one of them turned to ash and forgotten before you forgive the harm they've caused.

Casting about the swamp you find yourself in, you focus in on the enormous living temple resting across the marsh. It stretches skyward, vanishing into the colorful mist which hangs heavy in the air of this place. If the spirit has a place of power, this is it. With Zahak following closely behind you stride towards the yawning archway, fire dancing at your fingertips and the pools of stagnant water parting to allow your passage.

As you ascend the stairs you can finally see something of the interior. The walls on either side have been shaped from coral into mesmerizing, multicolored patterns. They seem to pulse and writhe as you enter, coming alive with motion. Perhaps they recognize your presence as foreign, or perhaps they're merely responding to some new stimuli. The sight of the walls around you reaching towards you, spreading their twitching tendrils in excitement, is a disturbing one nonetheless.

Zahak is startled, and a jet of flame washes over the wall on your right. The thick slime which coats the walls seems to insulate the coral from the heat of the flame, but a strange shiver runs through the entire structure. As you continue further towards what you think is a throne room, the coral on your right begins to untwist itself. An enormous figure is disgorged, clad in thick carapace armor and wielding a stained copper sword nearly as long as you are tall. He stumbles from the wall to block your path, sword crunching into the floor as he lets it fall.

The blade of your saber hums softly in the silence that follows. Behind you, you can hear the soft clatter of chitin against the coral floor, and Zahak's thoughts inform you that the spirit's minions have blocked off the exit. Perhaps if you were a lesser man you would be afraid. Perhaps if this spirit had not harmed your son, you would be tempted to retreat. Instead you can feel your face split into a manic grin, hidden behind the featureless mask of your helm. This will be fun.

The fool makes no attempts to move, or even attack you. He just stands there, as though waiting for your attack. His arrogance will be the death of him.

Your thoughts intertwine with your son's, his emotions spilling over into your own. He's eager, hungry for bloodshed and impatient to punish the creature that destroyed his wing. {Zahak, I think you deserve a bit of a snack. Why don't you try the crab while I handle this brute.}

The training can be turned into a meditation that can strengthen our body. So I would advise to do that. Would give us a small rise in strength.

An idea strikes you, what if you were to simply rot away his armor? It certainly appears organic, though you would surely think that it's reinforced against such direct attacks. In your experience reinforced artifacts are incredibly hard to wear away. On the other hand, what do you really lose by trying?

Channeling vys, you allow your will to begin eating away at the carapace shell that forms his armor. You're shocked by how easily it begins to rot and degrade, you're able to eat away great chunks of his armor before he even realizes what you're doing. Panicked, the disciple begins to channel his own vys and your progress is slowed. Your concentration is interrupted by an overhand swing, sloppily executed and easily avoided. It smashes into the floor, sending shards of coral shooting upwards.

Before you can retalliate, one of the water spirits crustaceous underlings flies past you, the carapace around its chest shattered entirely. Swinging his sword sharply upwards, the disciple manages to bat the dead minion away from himself. However, he also opens himself up for attack. You lurch forward, sabre lashing out and scoring a deep gash in his armor. You see black blood leaking from the wound, but don't think you managed to do any real harm. You have to leap to one side to evade the meteoric descent of his blade, but you score another slash against his thigh which seems to strike flesh.

The disciple beats a retreat, so you redouble your efforts to erode his armor. He fights you for every inch you manage to erode, the armor beginning to heal should you withdraw your attention even for a moment. It's evident that he's a skilled Water Vatis, but clearly not as skilled as you are. The fact your armor amplifies the effect of the vys you channel doesn't hurt either. By the time you finally cut the flow of vys, you've eaten holes into the carapace which reveal his disgustingly pale, half-rotten flesh lying beneath. You suppose it really is a person hidden underneath the armor.
