Welcome back, swashbucklers, to the eighth chapter of Mecha Space Pirate Quest (this time with drawfaggotry). As always, you are Roarke Starwind, Captain of the Iron Kestrels Pirate Crew and soon to declare yourself Admiral of the Iron Kestrels Pirate Fleet.

Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Mecha+Space+Pirate+Quest%2C+Collective+Game%2C+mecha
Master Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/sSHs0QmF

Last time, you concluded an incredibly busy day. To recap, yesterday you beat a small Martian PMC, robbed a Martian cruise ship, kidnapped its haughty passenger, defeated the captain of the Storm Dragons and made him your subordinate, recruited all of her surviving escorts except for the two who fled into the Belt after the battle, got drunk, went on a successful date with Karen Cohen, and treated her like a gentleman. You even tucked her into bed when she fell asleep, before returning to your own quarters.

So it isn't any wonder that you wake up feeling like you could sleep for another six hours, eyeing your bedside chronometer with antipathy and wondering whether anyone would mind if you just didn't get up today at all.

On the other hand, you have a ship to either sell or refit (a decision to make today), and you have a pretty UJCIDF Corporal waiting back at California Station for you to sweep her off her feet and take her to a fancy restaurant. Such is the life of a successful space pirate.

Speaking of success, what are your plans for the day?

Sweet I get to catch one live.
Sell that ship, ring rich Muslim husband. Not sure we even contacted him yet.

Meanwhile, some good news and some bad news. The good news is, the Harpy is statted. The bad news is, I might have fucked up and misunderstood the role of missiles in this game, meaning that the Master Harpy will be slightly delayed.

Pirate Mecha Harpy:

Lightweight Head: C/S/K 2, 1 ton
Lightweight Torso: C/S/K 4, 2 tons
Lightweight L. Wing: C/S/K 2, 1 ton
Lightweight R. Wing: C/S/K 2, 1 ton
Lightweight L. Arm: C/S/K 3, 1 ton
Lightweight R. Arm: C/S/K 3, 1 ton
Lightweight L Leg: C/S/K 3, 1 ton
Lightweight R Leg: C/S/K 3, 1 ton

Lightweight Armor (2 CP, SP 2, 1 ton) all locations

Main Sensors: Cost 4, Space 1, Kills 2, 1 ton

Options: Head Cockpit with Ejector Seat (1 CP, 1 Space), Storage Module (1CP, 1 Space), Micromanipulators (1 CP, 1 Space), Liftwire (0.3 CP), Spotlights (0.2 CP)

Armament: Multiple options, Harpies can be refitted into different variants between missions. Pick two.
Drill: WA -1, 4K, AP, 3 CP, 3 Spaces, 2 tons
Light Cannon: Range 250m, WA 0, 3K, Ammo 10, Reloads 3, 4 CP, 3 Spaces, 1.5 tons
Axe: WA 0, 6K, 3 CP, 3 Spaces, 3 tons
Scattershot Arm (3x Fire-Linked Light Beam Guns): Range 200m, WA +1, 1K each, Infinite Ammo, 8 CP, 3 Spaces total, 1.5 tons
Mounted Small Shield: DA -1, SP 6, 7.5 CP, 3 tons

Thrusters: 2 per Wing (Wings themselves provide +2 MA in flight), MA 6 (12 in Jet Mode), CP 4

Jet Mode: Allows the Harpy to take the form of a mechafighter (costs 0.3 multiplied by the base CP of the mech). This doubles the flight MA, prevents the use of handheld weapons (if Harpies had hands), and inflicts -2 MV

Total Weight: 18 tons unarmed, 24 tons with heaviest option
Total Cost: 65 base, 86.5 with most expensive options.

Sell off that ship, see Miles and check how it all went with Fatima
>>
Time for the best quest
>>
>>46823059
Not shocking impressive are they?
>>
>>46823148

Harpies break easily, even against other Harpies. They're a cheap, fast, means to bully civilians and equally light police mecha.
>>
>>46823185
Even more reason to sell the ship and buy our pilots better mechs
>>
>>46823185
We should see about getting our hands on some heavier mechs after we sell the ship. Also upgrade our own mech so that it is actually armed.
>>
>>46823229
Seconding this. We need a shot gun at the very least.
>>
>>46823293
Nah Roarke doesn't need or want any guns
>>
>>46823185
Reminds me of a technical (which, given harpy's start as civilian mechs, they are), strapping heavy weaponry (SPGs, HMGs, rocket pods, etc) to a frame that was never made to even conceivably endure stress to certain parts of it. Which really shows how well Toyota made their trucks. hahaha. I wonder if there's a few harpys out their that kept former company logos on them like that mark's plumbing ISIS technical. Hahahaha.
>>
>>46823293
Or at least the anti armour fists. Something we can hurt heavy fuckers with.
>>
>>46823293
>>46823229
We went with pure brawl, and now it's written into Roarke's character. We don't have the skill, and the best we can get is some sort of hand-based melee weapon.
>>
>>46823325
There is a difference between being armed with actual brawling weapons and having one single punch glove made from scrap. We need more punching.
>>
>>46823325
Maybe a shotgun isn't unfeasable then. We probably want some counter measures to help us get closer, like chaff. Perhaps even explosive reactive armor that we can manually trigger? I have never the book so I have no clue if such things exist or would need to be made up.
>>
>>46823361
We can save up 3 points and get the pugalist upgrade or get the crushing blow for our fist
>>
>>46823211
>>46823229

This is what I was looking for. A good, concrete purchase exorbitant enough to justify it costing an entire (secondhand) ship without me having to figure out how much a starship costs in credits because Mekton Zeta was written by people almost as disorganized as me.

Heavier mechs it is. Although as it's been pointed out, guns aren't Roarke's style. It will take a few days to sell your new ship, however, an item this big and this hot takes time to fence.
>>
>>46823325
We could meet in the middle of range and melee with big doofy extendo-arms.
>>
By the way, what are /tg/'s rules on uploading .pdfs? I could just hand you all the books, if you like.

The Heart of the Sunshine drifts past your porthole-style cabin windows, and you decide that you can't keep it. its too valuable for how small it is to simply add to the armada. That's going to be a problem, however, because finding a buyer isn't something you can do instantly.

As you dress, you turn off the chronometer on your PC, unplug it from your bedside table, and contact Richard. You confirm that Dr. Cohen is already aboard the passenger liner scrambling its identification chip. That way, it won't be recognized as the Heart of the Sunshine when you tow it into California Station and raise awkward questions with the UJCIDF.

The awkward bulk of the Yamato flies past in the opposite direction, and you momentarily wish you could sell it too, however useful it might be.

You finish chewing some dental gum, combing your hair, washing up, and getting dressed before sauntering down the hall. A strip of moving floor...you're never sure what to call those things, transportation treadmills? Horizontal elevators? Whatever it is, it makes your trip to the ship's bar much less of a jog, and a mug of black coffee enlivens your senses and sends energy racing through you from head to toe. You spot Karen, half-asleep and spacing out over some notes she's doodling on her PC's holographic screen. She sees you, blushes, and grins into her coffee. After all, she managed to loot a kiss from you last night, she has good reason to be smug.

There's a different bridge bunny on bar duty this morning, and not for the first time you wonder whether Captain Ozark stocked his bridge with attractive women (besides Avi, who's just a cool kid) on purpose. The answer is probably yes.

You tug Karen's pigtails in passing, and she makes a credible grab for you before you slip away, laughing, and head for the bridge. Miles is rubbing Richard's shoulders, the big guy looks pretty hung over from the celebration the night before.

Possibly. More importantly, it gives everyone a reason to support all the girls, and not just their own waifu. You pulled some pretty cool lines on Samantha when you first met her, but the Karenfags during her date seemed to be struggling just a little for something to say to her. Remember, you're all comrades in this, even if I'd never want the banter about which one is 'best' to stop.

"Wake up, everyone. I wish I was asleep too, but we've got a lot to do. Avi." You point at the kid, who turns off the comic books he was reading on his PC and glances up at you, "Take us to California Station. Miles, we have people on the Heart of the Sunshine controlling the bridge, weapons systems, and comms, right?"

She gives you a look as though wondering whether you're joking, "Uh. Yup. Duh. Did Karen do something to you last night, Cappy? You're usually just a liiiiittle faster on your feet." She grins smugly. Bloody women.

You adjust your aviators, "Good." You decide not to even answer her question, knowing her insatiable curiosity will eat at her, "Transmit the signal to both our subordinate ships, we're making the jump. When we arrive, YOU can get off Richard's lap and go look for a buyer. We're going to sell the Heart and buy something stronger than Harpies for the next time the Green Skulls show up. We're a Pirate Fleet now, it's time we had sturdier mecha."

Avi finishes putting in the calculations, "Ready when you are, boss." His voice cracks with adolescence.

"Oh. One more thing, did our guest cooperate?"

Miles gives you a sour look, nods, and hits a button, "This came in while you were on your date, Captain."

It's a voice recording, "ANIKI! Admiral-sama, this is my greatest figurine yet! Truly sugoi! Those eyes...that skin...and best of all, her expression! That scowl is the scowl of a true tsundere!" You don't know what a 'sundayray' is, and you don't want to know. "If you ever get tired of her, let me host the vulnerable ojousama, I swear on my swords that she will develop an appreciation for refined Eastern culture." It sounds like there's more, but Miles mutes it before you can get a headache from too much Yoritomo too early in the morning.

"Admiral, huh? You're really going to declare yourself one? Takes some balls to do that, but it's not like anyone can tell you not to." Miles whistles smugly, "So...does KAREN call you Admiral too, or...?"

You throw your empty coffee mug at her, and Richard catches it. The two of them grin at each other, while you ponder how much better things were back when they hated each other's guts and were only part of your squad because they were the second and third best pilots in the Iron Kestrels. You used to hate hearing the words 'big dumb farmboy' and 'tomboy wench' thrown back and forth endlessly over your comms when you were just trying to listen to some Judas Priest, but it might honestly have been preferable to them cooing over each other. The idea of Miles' personality on offspring built like Richard sends a shiver of pure horror down your spine.

"Make the damned jump. Avi, if they keep this up, YOU're the new First Mate. Keep in mind, I still haven't decided who gets to use the Master Harpy yet." Avi salutes at your request, and finishes plugging in the numbers, the tip of his tongue sticking out from between his pudgy lips as the view outside the screen goes white.

This time, perhaps because you're already being grated on by your friends, the warp jump feels a lot smoother.

While I love the raid and looting life, is there also commercial mech fighting? (arena, simulated war show, or maybe guys just making legally binding bets and shooting the shit out of each other.) I don't necessarily want that to be a big thing or even see much of that now, but is that a possibility? Also how do our regular pilots gain skill? Do they just become elites after surviving 2 or 3 intense battles, or can we train and such?

Facts:

Kira Yamato fucked his best friend's whore girlfriend onscreen, she was using him.

SHIRO "Alpha" AMADA had sex with a Zeon princess (offscreen, like a classy gentleman) in a wrecked Salamis, then again in a hot spring he made with the beamsaber of his crashed gundam. He got her pregnant and made her a good Feddie wife.

TL:DR 0th MS Team is the best gundam with the best protagonist, especially since he isn't a Newtype.

It exists. In fact, Roarke probably got his start as a criminal working one of the underground mecha brawling rings. It's a good way to make smalltime cash, some are fists-only and others allow weapons to be used.

Also, 0th MS Team and Thunderbolt are both great, my only problem with Thunderbolt is that seeing Zeon pilots get rekt gets old after a while. It would be nice if they won for once.
>>
>>46824823

However, and I should have mentioned this sooner, there's a not-insignificant chance of pilots dying from this.

California Station is just as you remember it, down to the Wels-Class Battleship hovering around Colony 2. It has to be a little irritating, being too big for the Colony bays and not being able to crouch in the busy shipyards of the Asteroid because of the constant traffic.

Colony 3 doesn't have any trouble handling your three smaller ships, though, although you have to scramble for a fake name for the Heart of the Sunshine, eventually settling on the fairly unoriginal 'Sunbeam'. Miles takes the shuttle out to Colony 1 with Richard...you suspect they're going on a date before looking for a buyer...and you very, very firmly tell Yoritomo that Avi is in charge of the fleet in your absence, not him. He seems perfectly fine with this after the first few "But senpai..."s, and he announces his intention to spread the news of your survival and new Admiral status among the pirate fraternity.

Do you tell him not to, or let him have his fun? It will obviously come out sooner or later, but if you tell him to keep silent he probably will. Probably. A victory in battle and a little resin figurine go a lot farther with Yoritomo than money, making him even more of an oddity than most pirates.

You advise him to temporarily hold off...but instead, you offer to take him drinking. Much to your surprise, he refuses, and suggests something else.

The coffee turns out to be absolutely delicious. Normally, you take it blacker than the void between the stars, and don't think much about the taste. This, though, is different. It's a subtle flavoring, milk and cream and something sweet...cinnamon, maybe?

The uniforms the girls wear are strange, but they remind you ever so slightly of the lace Samantha Blanchett had added to her pilot suit. They're remarkably cute, remarkably friendly, and for once you don't think of Yoritomo as being the most unlucky man you know when it comes to women. He has a long talk with you, mostly about Captain Ozark.

"I was nearly a Kestrel myself, senpai. In fact, you and I might have been in the same squad, but we're different sorts of people. I guess I was a bit older than you were when you joined, and I already had a few nakama, so I turned down his offer. The next week, I hijacked the first Yamato from some scavengers and founded the Storm Dragons. That's part of the reason why I was willing to join you, if the Stone Soldiers asked I'd have answered them with my hanabi missile bays." He laughs, and gives a quiet "domo arigatou" to the maid who brings his refill.

"So, what are these things?" You've been given several boxes of some kind of wafer sticks covered in chocolate at one end. They're weird, but delicious.

"Pocky, senpai. It makes your warrior spirit stronger."

"And the...Japanese thing?"

He looks at you, absolutely befuddled, "My culture may be history, but the ways of my ancestors are worth emulating. After all, I'm descended from a hero. I came from a wealthy family, fortunately, and even though my parents were often away on business I had plenty of time and money to hone my skills as a bushi throughout my childhood and into my adult life. That's one of the ways I respect you even though you didn't form the Kestrels yourself...from what Ozark-sama told me, you didn't have as much starting capital from a substantial inheritance as I did. Your path is a very pure one, and even though you don't respect the majesty of the katana sufficiently a man who comes from nothing and fights with nothing is perhaps the fighter who most embodies the element of void, and are we not all, essentially, floating in the void all the time?" He sighs heavily, his usual exuberance slightly dimmed, "Although I dream of someday seeing Mount Fuji, and climbing to the top in the Osano-Wo to shout to all of glorious Nippon that the descendant of Oda Nobunaga has returned to his native land. It will be sugoi, magnificently sugoi."

There are several vending machines along the exterior wall, apparently dispensing little toys in little plastic bubbles. You guess those might be for kids, although some of them honestly look rather neat.

You raise a glass to his dream. Momentarily, you feel a little bad for not having one as grand for your own...although it's never too late to find a dream, "This was a better idea than drinking, I have a date tonight and I feel that this is going to be a long conversation. You're a determined sort of man, Captain Oda. I can respect that. Let's both go to Earth someday...as nama-er, as nakama. After we crush the Green Skulls and build up our strength."

Yoritomo's broad face overflows with emotion, before he grins and clinks his own delicate porcelain cup against yours, "Hai, Admiral Starwind-sama!" His voice rings off the walls, before he remembers that he isn't supposed to be telling people you're back. He points one giant finger at the girls, "Meidos, tell no one of this. The Admiral has returned in dire secrecy."

They salute. This is slightly shocking. On the other hand, this is a rather small cafe, you're the only customers at the moment. They seem to know him pretty well, too, "So, Captain, are you and any of these girls...?" You look at him over your sunglasses. After all, you've mentioned your date to him, so you're obligated to ask.

He looks shocked, "No, Taishou-sama. They are the wives and daughters of my nakama. Most of our pilots come from these Colonies. As far as I am concerned, these are my precious imoutos." They curtsy as cohesively as a military unit saluting on parade. "This is my cafe, I've invested some of my profits in little businesses like this."

"Gashapon, Taishou-sama. Just swipe a credit off your PC and it dispenses a toy." He magnanimously indicates the machine, "The more expensive ones are further from the door. There's been some argument among the meidos about whether that's the most sensible positioning for them, but I'm sure they'll figure it out."

"So you don't manage it yourself? That could be useful, it would give us another place besides the Rhinehawk and the bars to go, at least."

He shakes his head, "The meidos run things and give me my share, it's very sensible. You should invest in buying an empty property, Starwind-sama. Once you have more infrastructure, at least." He coughs, "So...aniki, you have a date tonight." He grins, "What can you tell me? I bet she's kawaii as all fuck, isn't she?"

"I met her when I was taking a jaunt in the Kaiser, before I repaired it. She broke up a little scuffle, and I was impressed. Short, dark hair, a little small in the chest, big eyes, long lashes. She had a sort of old-fashioned aesthetic, and I thought she was interesting. Sort of like your maid waitresses, lots of lace, puffy clothing, black and white."

Yoritomo's eyes become as large as saucers, "You found one, then. The ancient legends are true. A waifu, like in the ancient tales." He clinks his cup against yours again, "The ancient sages, the home-dwellers, those called 'otaku' spoke of them as creatures that existed beyond the realms of humanity, like a Platonic Ideal of femininity. They come in many guises, Taishou-sama."

You stare at him, abruptly grateful for his shades. You don't want to know about Yoritomo's religion, which is what this sounds an awful lot like. Aside from Christianity, in all of its bizarre branches, Hakimite Islam from Mars, and the Roman Pantheon popular among the Jovian upper class, you aren't very familiar with the more obscure religions that branch up in isolated colonies. Moreover, it's not a cool conversation to have over coffee. "Ah." It's the only reply you can think of.

"Taishou, get her a gashapon for luck. If she's truly a woman of quality, she'll like it."

You swipe your PC at the most expensive machine. After all, Fatima is technically paying for everything you're doing in California Station right now. The machine whirls, and a cheerful little tune plays as lights flash and tiny figurines of cats march back and forth across the top.

Finally, a tiny plastic ball is dispensed. Inside is a little bluish-black figurine of a dog. It almost looks crystalline, definitely not made of plastic. The dog closely resembles pic related. It has a little metal collar where a cord or fine chain could be drawn through a loop on its neck.

You pocket it, noting that it's about the same color as Samantha's dark blue pilot suit.

You take your toy, and sincerely thank Yoritomo for the coffee. He's risen several points in your opinion since the two of you fought.

As you make your way back towards the shuttleport after stopping at the Rhinehawk to wash up and put on some better clothes, you decide to scout out Colony 2 a bit. After all, you're not as familiar with it as you are the others. There's plenty of time left before your date to fly back to, you and Yoritomo started talking before noon...and he left you some boxes of this 'dark chocolate pocky with almonds', which sounds tasty. You decide to take a box on the date, too. Samantha seems like she'd like delicate exotic snacks.

Colony 2 is, as expected, full of the pale green uniforms of UJCIDF cadets and the dark green tunics and white trousers of NCOs. Here and there you see other colors, but none of the purple high-ranking Jovian officers have.

I deleted my post to explain in more detail. The Green Men were growing suits of bio-armor in vast ranks, piloted by their clones and their cultists. They grew so many that their fields covered parts of Mars like a forest. The Purging of Mars was incredibly, incredibly bloody and left swathes of the planet uninhabitable again.

Each non-clone Green Man was a genetically engineered superhuman. Smarter, with better instincts, and stronger than virtually any natural human being. They could photosynthesize and filled the skies of their worlds with spores that induced a sense of religious euphoria in affected humans who saw them. Every last one of them was a peerless warrior, but humanity flung tide after tide of human flesh and mecha at them and eventually overwhelmed them. They are believed exterminated, and any found today would surely meet the same fate.

That's what Roarke knows about them, at least.

You wonder, briefly, if any admiral has ever dressed as plainly as you. You were surprised to find the red suit among your clothes, you'd forgotten you had it, but as much as you wanted to try it on you decided to go with a cleaned-up version of the usual. Blue pants, Gods of the 80's made it clear that men wore hard-wearing blue pants when at ease. Your shirt is black silk, and buttons up. Your civilian leather jacket is freshly cleaned and gleams just slightly less than your aviators.

You're ready for this. You walk down the streets like you own them, getting more than one admiring glance from the female cadets who seem to travel around in packs. You're lucky you reserved a place at a restaurant in advance, Colony 2 seems to be doing a lot of business with the Jovian military in town.

You've just spotted a specialty music store and are on your way across the street to it when your shoulder bumps against someone else's in the crowd. It's a woman, with a blonde bob of a haircut that gives her face a sweet, heartlike shape and a naturally cute expression. She's wearing a stark-white UJCIDF uniform, aside from a lieutenant's rank insignia. It's just a brief brush, but for a moment, your eyes meet hers over the rim of your shades.

It's like staring into the eyes of a shark, a sudden moment of violence and blood. You can practically feel an attack coming, even though her body posture doesn't change one iota.

The thing about staring at death is, you've done it before. Not just once, either. You stare her down like a mastiff stares down a pit bull, and after a moment, the murderous gaze subsides. You stare her down, your hands creaking into fists in your pocket. You put every drop of who you are into it, too.

The strange thing is, she doesn't flinch either. Instead, she smiles. A wide smile, "Heeeey, aren't you going to apologize to me?" She puts her hands on her hips. It might be cute any other time but now. As a fighter yourself, you notice the way her body's tensing up, the way one foot subtly shifts behind the other. She's taking a stance, and ready to spring at any time.

"Sure. How about I buy you dinner next week?" The words slip out before you can think about them, and you adjust your shades as you roll with it, "I'm sorry, I seem to have an unfortunate habit of drawing cute babes across my path."

She blinks once. Then she shuffles the foot that was drawing towards some kind of leaping kick against the ground, dragging her toe in a circle against the cobblestones, "You're really dangerous, aren't you?" She says, quietly, "A guy like you...yeah. Maybe we'll get to fight, maybe I'll get to beat you up. Maybe I'll lose, I'm actually excited for once."

She flicks a card seemingly out of nowhere, but more likely from up her sleeve. "Lieutenant Alice C. Farragut. You can call me Clemmy, though, I've always liked my middle name." She bats her eyelashes, reminding you just a little bit of a praying mantis, "This ship is going to be here for a few more weeks, anyway...unless..." She chews her lip, "It's not really secret...so...I'll tell you what. Sign up with us. You're Jovian, right? I know the accent. I'll put in a word with General Fairchild and get you into SOUL Squadron B." Her abruptly sweet smile widens, "Under me. You'll never ride anything better than what we're playing with there."

Before you can respond, she puts a fingertip to your lips. "Uh-uh, don't tell me now. I'll see you soon. My personal code is on the card, scan it with your PC and add me to your contacts list." She winks, and saunters off, "Got to get back to work! Lots to do! Busy day for l'il ol' me~"

You're in luck. This place has a lot, and now you have enough material for a second mixtape. This will double the number of tunes you can beat up enemies to.

As for places to eat, you've already reserved an upscale but fairly intimate restaurant. Captain Ozark used to take the officers to places like this, so you're not completely unfamiliar with them. This one is a bit more romantic than those, though, he tended to choose eateries based on the appearance of their waitresses, while you looked up reviews on the holonet like most people would.

If she's really a trap, she might have a negative reaction to that song. Or she might think it's funny. Or she might not be a trap at all and not get it.

One of the major annoyances of the game is that you dont really aim or control the camera much. You lock on to a mech and the camera follows it. Its awkward but once you get used to it its alright.
>>
WHY IS THERE DON'T STOP ME NOW. IS GOOD BATTLE ANTHEM, COMRADE-BROS.

You can go into a sort of artillery mode with some mechs though that lets you target mechs really far away. Depending on what you are using your shots will automatically be fired so they ark over things in the way and land on whatever you are shooting.

We get a small bonus for every women we bed. Harem end is literally being mechanically incentivized by the GM.
>>
>>46830868
>>46830795

If you guys keep up this harem crap, I'm ditching the mech drawings for this quest and leave the sketches and stuff as they are now.
>>
>>46832817
Agreeing with anon. Harems just make everything terrible, and I'd rather not be a cuck
