We come from the planet know as Serik-Lambda, it's a place where the poles are as cold as Fenris and the equator is like Catachan. It is a place where two very different cultures, have to live together to survive. But most importantly it is the home world of the artillery regiment known as the Serikkan Arbalists.

Ok OP, cavalry is here, what needs to be done?

We probably need to work more on its military side since we last thread made a lot of cultural stuff.

Ok, shall this planet perhaps have a unique military structure?

They are a dedicated artillery regiment.

Anon are you kill?
>>
Bottom of the line people are referred to as Grunts, Troopers, Soldiers, Gunners, Ratings or Armsmen depending on where they are from, what type of regiment they get stuck in and what their job is. Theoretically there are civilian assistants to the regiment who would be a lower rank but they can't be ordered by the lower ranks so it's much of a much ness.

Above them is Sergeant, Barker or Oarman again depending on where they are from and where they end up. They are responsible for anywhere from 5 to 15 men and women.

Above them are Lieutenants, Voidsman, Breaker, Shouter and a few other less flattering terms used for the rank between Colonel and Sargent that has become placed on official documents.

Colonel are sometimes known as Breakers or Taskmasters. Occasionally the Decree Passive is violated and the officially discontinued title of Battle-Bishop is resurrected.

Locally grown Generals are referred to as Warmasters. Fuck you, just because Horus held that rank doesn't mean shit to them.

Psykers, Chaplains, Tech-adepts and occasionally assassins come under the command of Colonel or, for preference, Warmanster directly as everyone else objects to being responsible for the demented sods.

But this ranking system only applies to the Imperial Guard and some of the more civilized branches of the PDF. Most of the PDF is still operating on a far more tribal level.
>>
>>46812172
So you weren't kill
>>
>>46812312
Still here but at work
>>
>>46812172
The tribal PDF branches, be they equatorial or polar, tend to treat war as an extended hunting trip for dangerous game. They are capable of racking up an impressive body count but they treat orders like suggestions which is why so few make it into the Imperial Guard.

For them there is the Huntmaster and there are Hunters and all other ranks are in relation to that or whatever their tribal language calls such things.

The great city state of the Polar Redoubt in the land of eternal night tends to emphasize the importance of personal prowess. Their mentality promotes great men doing great things as can be seen with their stories, media and general attitude of Leaders and Followers in everyday life.

Pound for pound they can as individuals or small groups punch surprisingly hard but this falls apart in large scale conflicts. Also they are toweringly arrogant and refuse to take orders form anyone not of the Polar Redoubt.
>>
Sergeant Irgyn "The Sycean" Hegez
Famous for leading the platoon of the late lieutenant Seskt, and setting up an ambush, by having four ogryns carry the ballistae into an otherwise unreachable position. He managed to destroy 14 ork mobs and 2 trukks before he had to retreat in an orderly manner, even managing to save the ballistae.
>>
There are stories of the Polar Redoubt and the surrounding settlements and tribes of a strange being known as The Last Robot or sometimes known as Salathiel's Watch Dog.

Historical records suggest that there was a Legio Cybernetica housing facility on the planet back before the chaotic invasion of M33. They were there as a contract with a forgeworld, food for protection.

After the climate went to shit and the planet could no longer supply surplus food the priesthood of mars withdrew its protection.

But one was left behind, still operating on orders from a long dead tech-priest; Protect the world, kill the chaos, venerate the Omnissiah.

And he patrols the wastes forever.

Nothing but a ghost story save for the fact that down the ages in the chaos incursions a techno-construct of ancient design comes crashing through the snow like the wroth of a god and reaps a bloody toll before wandering away into the white as the bodies cool.

If it is that ancient metal creature then someone is maintaining and repairing it, but who would know how and who would have the resources?

It'll be tomorrow now. Work was longer than expected and we've just got a new dog.

For uniform I imagine that the jungle nutters wearing ironwood carapace bleached white to blend in with the snow.

The polar nutters wear animal fur and hide.

Polar Redoubt wear what looks like high-viz orange and yellow valhallen coats with Armageddon Steel Legion masks and helmets.

The coats have heating elements in them.

Redoubters are basically almost a mechanicus enclave.

The Polar Redoubt, at its height, during the golden age before the Age of Strife was home to half a billion human souls climbing to 0.75 billion just prior to the catastrophes of M33.

For over 15,000 years it was by some considerable way the largest settlement of Serik-Lambda, the hub of its culture and commerce and also the planetary capital.

It was entirely self contained and was estimated to be tenfold bigger beneath the surface than the three sided pyramid above it stretching deep into the crust.

The whole edifice was originally powered by an enormous fusion reactor or ancient and irreplaceable design, a piece of archotech from a forgotten time and beating heart of an entire civilization.

During the great Chaos Incursion the priesthood, descended from the Golden Age Engineers, were to a man sacrificed to gods too terrible to name for refusing to give up their ancient secrets and their great works smashed out of petty spite.

Now that great edifice is fed by the far lesser power of the geothermal backup generators and boasts a population of less than 20 million.

From the burning spires and towers there was no great exodus of the displaced and the desperate for they would fought to the last man and woman and many districts as reward died virtuous deaths to the last child. Great heaps of bodies were piled after that conflict that by their sheer collective mass buried many survivors alive in isolated hab pockets. So great was the slaughter that it was nigh on a century before the last of the slain was buried in the permafrost to await the Day of Doom.

No longer is it the heart of civilization, no longer is it a commercial or cultural hub and despite their opinion on the matter no longer is it the planetary capital.

They hold themselves apart, those men of the Redoubt, clad in bright colours and fearing nothing even when common sense tell that fear is needed. They see the works of greatness around them and know they can not equal it, not in this age.

We need something about the actual capital city.
>>
>>46833765
This is from the last thread

>writing some fluff, becuase I feel bored

The capital city of Hy-Skand was founded a few years after the planet froze in late M33. It founded and build by the first govenor (self elected mind you) Goran Blaco, also refered to as "Goran the ambitious".

Goran Blaco was also born to a Nordyc father and a Amzon mother. This made him rally more people from both sides when it came to rebuilding their planet.

Now the city of Hy-Skand is a busy hive city with sprawling maglev trains and shirnes dedicated to the Emperor, the machine spririt and even to Goran Blaco.

Feel free to expand the fluff for the captial

I have an idea:
>The Icevein Barbarians
lead by Iohannes the Coldblooded whose ascendancy was gifted to him by Khorne, after he caused the first incursion, freezing the polar regions over with his cold unfeeling spite. He converted thousands of the downtrodden, poor, and mentally insane, to commit heresies of a large scale. They constructed massive gates of permafrost, and sacrificed themselves in order to bring about what could have been annihilation for all of Serik. But due to Iohannes own selfishness and lust for power he made a foolhardy rush towards the capital, Where all seemed to be going well, until the forces of the polar redoubt bombed their own city to the ground. To this day he has been enraged over his defeat, but not the frothing rage that his berzekers wield in bloody war, no this is a seething rage only for those who have had it all, and then thrown it away for their own glory.

>>
>ITT: People forgetting that we are a Naval Unit
>>
>>46838124
Maybe we can have be like Hua Yuan's armored regiment.
>>
>>46837967

Iohannes the Coldblooded Sat briefly on the throne, the seat of authority on that planet. Briefly. In that moment he went from merely blessed to Ascendant, a true Deamon-Prince.

For a brief moment Serik-Lambda was a deamon-world. Unholy abominations, abortions of reality, the ghosts of things that never were and couldn't have been, nightmares made flesh and the souls of the damned manifested in a world made into a new Hell.

A Hell that lasted for less than 5 seconds.

Goran "The Ambirious" Blaco, then just a tribal chieftain, had been in mid flight from the broken skylight and was heading towards the usurper at just the moment that the improvised explosives went off. The result was that one barbarian went upwards extremely fast whilst the other barbarian was traveling downwards and holding an axe. Deamon-Prince or not that axe-blade, blessed by a humble tribal priest, bisected the warlords head.

The warp-corruption of Serik-Lambda hadn't reached saturation point and with the loss of the Coldblooded Prince momentum was lost.

Chief Goran's body was found impaled on the sword of a statue of Sanguinius nearly two days later still alive in a manner that was heralded by the holy men of the tribes as a miracle.

The brief moment the world was one food in the immaterium caused it to re-materialize not quite where it should have been and not quite with the same axial tilt.

A conclave of war-preachers from the ranks of the PDF and tribal auxiliary declared that Chief Goran, being so obviously blessed, should rule Serik-Lambda in the God-Emperor's name. His reign from that day until death which they assumed would be either until frostbite took its toll or the tinned food ran out which ever happened first.

2 months later an Imperial fleet turned up in orbit to offer assistance. Aboard it, unofficially and without a ticket, was an Arch-Magus of dubious repute.

The war from start to finish took a toll of ~85% of the global population.

So, having a world with different cultures is a very good thing. Hua Yuan works as a homogeneous culture because of its origins.

But for the regiment it would be easier if we have a single culture.

Given how many times this has had to be bumped I think it's time to let it go. It's been fun and the 1d4chan page needs work.

I really like them but a flood of bumps does them no credit.

There is. It becomes cluttered and it lacks tonal consistency. It'll turn into a cluster fuck and not into a cohesive unit basically.
