You are Takashi Wakui, a sixteen year old Japanese high school student. In your world, half of humanity possesses a Persona—the corporeal manifestation of one’s personality as a supernatural entity. You had been an unlucky ordinary at first, lacking the potential to summon your Persona. Then the application AETHER was forcibly installed on your smartphone. It sucked you into the nightmarish realm of the Blackened Void, where you fought monsters and awakened your Persona in the process.

You are now the Wild Card of the 22nd Century. You possess the Fool Arcana, giving you the power to draw strength from bonds and wield multiple Personas at once. Already this places you in great danger, as the Fool Arcana is seen as an impossibility by the common masses. Revealing your newfound power to the common world would immediately land your head on a dissection table. To make matters worse, you and several others have been cursed as the Void’s Chosen, fated to traverse the wastelands of the Blackened Void until the end of the game. For what purpose does AETHER exist, what mysteries lie within and how is victory achieved?

“Takauji.”

“Yeah?”

“I need to confirm something with you. Are you sure you aren’t interested in either of the two girls?”

“They’re only good friends. Nothing else.”

“And you aren’t interested in romance in general.”

“I’m too young for that, at least according to my parents. They say that a lot of high school relationships don’t last once graduation happens. Besides, I don’t want to keep leading these two girls by the nose. Kanami and Kanade both deserve more than a guy who was too much of a little bitch to do something about his own stupidity…”

“Okay, good.” You slam your palms on the table, causing the empty silverware to jump. “Let’s lock Kanami and Kanade into a room and have them reconcile with each other.”

“What?” Takauji yelps. “Dude, didn’t I tell you that isn’t going to work?”

“If I can get a Persona at the age of sixteen, then we can make these two girls become friends with at each other. Or at the very least, stop them from going at each other’s throats all the damn time.”

“They’re going to attack each other the moment they get through the door.”

“I’ll get someone to watch over them.”

“Like who?”

“Celeste, Akikazu, maybe even Fumika. Hell, I’ll ask the student council president if I need to.”

“Why would the student council president help us?”

>“Why would the student council president help us?”
Because she's a sucker for a good love story? I mean, you should see all those romantic novels she keeps on her shelf at home.

>She owes us a favor, right? Something, something, "letting her hair down" something informal something...

Because she won't have a choice if we lock them in the student council office.

“I think Eriko likes me.” You say. “As a passing acquaintance, I mean.”

Takauji gawps at you. “Details. After this, man.”

“Look, it makes perfect sense to me. Kanami and Kanade most likely respect each other’s strength from all of their matches, even if they would never admit it in a thousand years. If we build that up, they won’t fight as much. That’ll make it easier for you to reject them.”

“Yeah, but are how are you going to convince them?”

He’s got you there. “I don’t know. But this city wasn’t built in a day and neither are our plans. I’ll think about it and get back to you.”

Takauji still looks uncertain. You can't blame him. This isn't an ordinary scenario. Part of you wonders if you are completely out of mind, whether or not this decision might accelerate your trip on the road to the grave. You silence it with a stamp of a mental foot, take a deep breath and muster every last trace of WILLPOWER you possess.

“We’re going to get through this, Takauji. You can count on me.”

You give him a reassuring grin, then extend an arm for a cool and completely platonic fist bump. Takauji takes it.

“Thanks, Takashi." he says, his voice quiet. "You’re…you’re a really good friend.”
>>

Alright, not give us the rank up. That's the deal, Takauji. We help you with your problems, you give us more superpowers. You're not going to welch on us, are you, punk?

So with this, Narcissus becomes possibly our best Persona. Decent wind and lightning area attacks, excellent single target wind damage, high chance of mind controlling our opponents, the ability to put foes to sleep, skills for removing the Charm statis effect and removing debuffs, resistances to three different elements (fire, ice and electricity), and some pretty good stats. His only flaw is that he has a weakness to Physical, so we'd have to be really careful to stay out of melee when using him. But still, we should definitely make him a staple of our arsenal now.

>>Introduce.

You exit the restaurant with Takauji, telling the story of how Eriko Ozaki greeted you on the stairs and spoke to you in an informal manner. He doesn’t believe it. You challenge him to go up and ask her directly. He rejects the notion with an excuse. You giggle at his misfortune and part ways with him. Down the path to the train station you go.

Unbeknownst to you, someone was watching your meal and subsequent ribbing in the restaurant. A chef, to be precise. A young man, lanky and thin but in otherwise good health, with pale skin and reddish-black hair pointed in sharp spikes. His cheeks are smoky and a white cap rests on his head. It tilts to the side and is swiftly adjusted.

He puts a lone, gloved hand beneath his pointed chin and thinks. The cogs spin and click in his deep orange eyes. At present, you do not know this man. But in time, you will.

“Be right back.”

“Wait, who’s going to take care of the crab noodles?”

“Get one of the rookies to do it!”

Why, you ask?

Because he’s made his decision and is now running to catch up with you.

"You can't just...he's already gone. Goddammit..."

“Hey!”

Your hand is millimeters from pressing down on the crossing button when you hear the voice from behind. Youthful, energetic and in demand for answers. You turn around to see the young man standing behind, hands clenched on his kneecaps, panting deeply from the impromptu spring.

“Hey kid, you’re from Akumachi-Kirijo, aren’t you?”

“Yeah?” You say, unsure of the direction of this new conversation. “Can’t you tell from my uniform?"

“Great.” The young man smiles. From his appearance, he can’t be more than twenty. Maybe a short twenty-five, if you stretched your imagination hard enough. “Listen, do you know anyone called Takashi Wakui? I'm looking for him.”

>“Who’s asking?”
>“I’ve heard of him. They say he’s a pretty cool guy.”

“I’ve heard of him.” You say, cautiously. “They say he’s a pretty cool guy. Who’s asking, though?”

“Someone who’s a roommate of an acquaintance with this Takashi guy.” The young man groans. “Man, I’m glad I finally got a response. Been asking your academy mates all day long and none of them have got a clue.”

“What’s the deal?” You ask.

“You know that roommate I mentioned? He’s gone missing. It had to be a week before the rent is due, too! My god… anyway, I’ve been searching for him, going around asking his friends and everything. Takashi Wakui was one of the guys he came into contacted with. If you see him, can you tell him we need to talk?”

"Uh..."

"Seriously, this is urgent. Any longer and I'll have to call the missing persons unit."

>“Your roommate’s name is Chikashi Yone, isn’t it?”

“Your roommate’s name is Chikashi Yone, isn’t it?” You mutter, the hairs at the back of your neck standing on end.

“Yeah—wait, how do you know?” The young man says, pointing an accusing finger at you.

You sigh. Fine, it’s time to drop the charade and let is shatter in the garbage bin where it belongs. “I’m Takashi Wakui.”

“Wait, what?” The young man gasps in surprise, before shifting into irritation. “Hey, how come you lied to me?”

“You ran up to me and started demanding to know who I was. I was being cautious, alright?”

“Fair point.” The young man sighs. “I’ll introduce myself, then. Name’s Ming. Ming Xiao Yu. I’m from China.”

“I heard you shouting in Chinese. I noticed.”

The young man, or rather Ming, nods. “You know where my roommate has gone?”

“Your roommate tried to swindle me out of money, then I had to go and save his ass from a gang of delinquents.”

“You kidding?” Ming raises an eyebrow, confused. “Chikashi doesn’t seem like the type of guy to do that.”

“Well, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s what he did.”

“I’m having a hard time believing that, kid.” Ming says. “Then again, he was acting kinda weird before he disappeared…”

Your ears prick up. “What?”

“He was being more annoyed and angry lately. Not sure why!” Ming shrugs his shoulders. “Money problems, I dunno? He was doing well at his part-time job.”

“I don’t know what he’s going on with him. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe he’s hiding out at another friend’s place. Those gangs can be ruthless.”

“I doubt that.” Ming mutters. “I didn’t notice him leave the house.”

You freeze. “What?”

“As in, when I woke the next morning he wasn’t in his futon. Crazy, right? All his stuff was where it was. Maybe he went to a party and didn’t come back home.”

You are grateful for the darkness covering the street like a thick, velvet sheet, because you think buds of sweat are gathering on your forehead. “Must’ve been a real big party, huh.”

“Either that, or he’s not around any more. Ha, what am I saying? I really hope that hasn’t happened.” Ming has a crooked, regretful grin. “We got into an argument and I really laid it into him, but even so I still think he’s an okay guy.”

“Yeah, yeah… I have to run and you have your job...sorry.” You mumble, slamming down on the crossing button. The green man pops up on the display and you stumble towards the side of the road. “If I see Chikashi again, I’ll, uh, tell him to go back to home.”

“I appreciate it.” Ming nods and smiles again. “See you around kid. Come back to the diner for a bite to eat.”

“Yeah, bye.”

Ming turns around and races back in the other direction. You disappear into the crowd and merge with the darkness of the night.

It makes sense and is truthful. We did get him out of some trouble, he didn't like it and we don't know whats going on with him(like the how or why he's an abomination).

The rest is conjecture that he could piece together in a way. We don't know what his deal is, therefor, we would not know what he would do next(also true, since we don't know what him being awake would do.).

Be truthful, but in a way that is both open and believable. Our understanding, smarts, and will could help us with this.
>>
>>46767588
What, you think "he turned into a monster in the alternate reality game me and my friends are stuck in so we beat him within an inch of his life and chained him to a campfire" is going to work?

Okay, thread over. Thanks to everyone who played tonight. A lot of plot important stuff was done in this session. I hope you enjoyed the scene with Aria and Takauji's gradual slide into depression from his past idiocy. Not really, of course, but anyone would be angry for being as dense as diamond in the past.
