Convicts: Serving their sentence on the front lines, the slime.
Priesthood: They venerate the God-Emperor in his soldier's aspect.
Gangers: They fought each other in the slums, now they fight a true enemy.

A world far from its parent sun, dim and cold. So very cold. No liquid seas except around the hat springs and glaciers all the way to the equator.

But huge amounts of geothermal activity. The world is young as these things are measured and its heart is warm. Tectonic activity shares that warmth with the surface creating areas that are a patchwork of shallow and wide warm lakes and dense jungles.

These islands of habitability are surrounded on all sides by the lands of Forever Winter.

>>
>>46748972
sure here you go
>Navy Armsmen: Experts in void-combat, they'll defend the ship or take the enemy's.
>Priesthood: They venerate the God-Emperor in his soldier's aspect.
>Gangers: They fought each other in the slums, now they fight a true enemy
>Convicts: Serving their sentence on the front lines, the slime.
>Standard conscription: Average or above-average citizens recruited from all levels of society.
>Death World: For these people, life was a war before they could speak.
>Jungle: Masters of stealth and inured to disease.
>Ice: Cold-blooded, with hearts of fire.

>Artillery
>Shock & Awe
>Adherent: Hold fast to the Creed and His will.

>Rare Heavy Weapon

>For The Homeworld: This regiment's mission is to demonstrate the skill and steel of the homeworld to the rest of the Imperium.

>Glory In Death: The regiment's mission is to die, and take as many enemies with it as possible.
>Tribal Faiths: This regiment is beholden to primitive beliefs. If from a civilized world, clannish practices from hive gang cultures or other such traditions predominate.

Where did everyone go?
>>
>>46749051
I think we should start from the planet and work out from there, it's how Hua Yuan built up so much hype. We can form our cultural influence from there

I think the planet should have giant ice caps, while the rest of the planet is exceedingly lush due to glacial melt
>>
>>46749786
Holy shit! There's people!
Also yeah that does sound like a pretty good idea.
>>
>>46749786
I second this
>>
>>46749786
This just an idea, but maybe the chaos person that we are enemies with created the ice caps, and that's why we hate him.
>>
Hot damn
>>
>>46749868
How about this? The planet was a jungle at first, but a chaos/webway portal opened up on an ice world and the freeze the planet due to it letting the cold from the other planet here?
>>
>>46749868
I don't know man, having them just be religious wackos from a hardass deathworld might be better than them having a vendetta
>>
>>46750007
That sound good.
So how are the people on Serik?
>>
>>46750030
How about this:
>Back before the poles were frozen a lot of people lived, not hive a lot, but stil a lot.
>In the equatorial jungles there also lived a lot of people, but they were tribal.
>There wasn't much contact between the two peoples as they didn't much care about each other.
>Then a daemon incursion happened in the north, and they both had to work together to stop it
>the leftovers from the incursion left the poles completely frozen.
>>
>>46750212
If there were already jungles at the equator and the temperature dropped like that then there would be no jungles left.
>>
>>46750347
It's 40k we don't have to be realistic.
>>
>>46750347
>>46750392
Besides it's an alien jungle
>>
>>46750418
>>46750392
Fair point.

They have anti-freeze sap, cultivate extremophile bacteria colonies around their roots and, in the case of the yggdrasil and similar varieties actually reach far enough down to tap the planets heat when fully mature.
>>
Just got an idea! What if this is one of few worlds where when the planet gets invaded, the planetary governor actually fights like badass instead of deserting.
>>
>>46750484
Butler!

Yes Governor?

Fetch me my power sword! We are going to into battle!
>>
>>46750484
Could be that the only way to get into a political office is to have done military service for 10 years or more.

Governor would, obviously, never get sent out with the regiments but they are the official head of the PDF.

There could have been one instance where Orks invade and the Governor and Warboss started kicking the shit out of one another in the burning ruins of the old palace.

Since then it is expected/a tradition for the Governor to relinquish command of the planet's civilian affairs to a member of the priesthood and dedicate all his attention to the war.
>>
>>46750705
I like this

Maybe the governor was the one guy that kept the clashing cultures of the polar city folk and the equatorial tribals from turning on each other.
>>
>>46751304
Guys this can be something great!

But first we need to fluff out a few things. Such as the culture the planet is based of, when it was founded, etc
>>
>>46751534
I think we've got two cultures. A more civilized people that used to live on the temperate poles, and tribals from the equatorial jungles.
>>
I will start to fluff out something that we can base the people and the cultures of, languages.

>New Nordyc
This language says to originate from early settlers on this planet, that are said to hail from the aincent nation of Nordyc on old Terra before the age of strife and unification wars. But the old language is long gone, but a new one has arisen over the years and the only thing left from the old Nordyc is the dialect and a few common words for thing like; human, food, sleep, tools, etc. Those are still spoken in the old tounge and has not been subject to change. The people who speak this langage are also regarded as humble, but agressive and defencive when needed.

>Amzon tounge
This language is also said to hail from old Terra, or more specificly from the aincent superpower of Hy Braseal. Their langauge is a complex one that has little in common to the old langauge they once spoke. And the speakers of the Amzon tounge have lost all records of the old langauge that they spoke, so no one can be certain to what thier old langauge was called.
Amzon is a very fast spoken langauge, made for a fast and vigilant people, as they live in the dangerous jungles. And in the jungles, if you need to say something, then you better say it fast.

The fast spoken nature of the Amzon tounge has made interactions with the Nordyc speakers hard and have at some points resulted in bloodshed and war.

>Voidtounge
Basicly any non native language

---

So what do you guys think? Is this a good start?
>>
>>46752668
I looked keep it.

Knowing at least one language from both language groups is one of the big qualifications for being a potential governor.
>>
>>46752668
>The fast spoken nature of the Amzon tounge has made interactions with the Nordyc speakers hard and have at some points resulted in bloodshed and war.

I just felt that it was a good place to start the fluff and lore for this planet.

Also here is a map from Age of strife Terra so you can see where I choose the language from
>>
I like how the Nordyc were technobarbarians and yet here are the most civil, while the hy braseal had parliments and stuff, but here they are tribals.
>>
I feel that we need some kind of easily recognizable name if were going archive this continue with it on a later date.

>>
How about this:
>The Serikkan Arbalists, known for using very Rare Plasma Ballistae, which are incredibly accurate long rang cannons.
>>
>>46756119
I like this a lot! And since we have two cultures/languages on the planet, should they be allied at this point or do they still distrust/ dislike each other?
>>
What are the northern and southern civilizations like? I'm imagining a single small hive city at the far north and satellite states around hot springs.
>>
>>46756236
I like the idea of them being able to work together, but not respecting each other as much as they maybe should.
>>
>>46756296
I imagine that most of the northerners live in small cities were the jungle of old had it's borders. Just far enough away from the poles not to freeze to death, and not too far so you aren't with the Tribal scum.
>>
Can someone archive this when it seems to hit full stop, I'm going to bed now.
>>

That particular Governor, Ted the Terrible, died of his injuries some hours later. He was declared by the local priesthood a martyr saint.

So they're very pious guardsmen, believing in their own versions of the Imperial Faith twisted by their own gangs, tribal traditions, and what have you. Not only that, but they're also smart enough to get assigned to artillery duty, and lucky enough to get something rare. God-Emperor, this looks hilarious.
>>
Eyy! we're still going strong!
>>
>>46764682
Strong is up for debate, but it's alive
>>
I think that the tribals are the more religious, worshipping the emperor, but in a slightly wrong way. All the while the border cities have huge crime problems, but they just send those accused of any crime directly to the Arbalists.
