You are Captain SAMANTHA WELLINGS, a newly minted captain of the Centauri Accord!

Currently, you were getting ready to break out a man by the name of Genger Shore from Hegemony custody. He was one of Felicity's goons, and also happened to be connected to your sister Carly, who you had lost contact with many years ago. Unfortunately, despite your best efforts, neither you nor your crew could dig up additional details besides him happening to serve on the same ship your sister did. Records on the Solar Sailor were scant, so scant that there was never even a confirmation that the ship had gone missing. There was just... nothing.

And there, sitting just off the Gullinbursti's port side was Felicity's ship, the Lavender's Kiss. The both of you were waiting for Holly to arrive to begin the assault.

Maybe she knew something...?

You decide not to say anything to Felicity about this for now. Best to keep something as sensitive to this close to the vest. You'll still need her help on this op.

"Your help is supposed to be coming, right?" Felicity purrs over the comms. "You promised me she'd come along!"

"She's probably just running late." You sigh.

"You sound troubled." Felicity coos. "So much tension in your voice! Is something bothering you?"

"Not particularly." You sigh.

"Awww, don't be mean like that! You can tell your deal old friend Felicity!"

Thankfully, Molly's arrival cuts the pirate off. Her destroyer, the Astral Rush, appears in a flash as it drops out of FTL. It was a Normandy-class destroyer similar to Gullinbursti. However, she did have a differing armament. Unlike the massive ion cannon like Gullinbursti, Astral Rush has a pair of massive energy gatling cannons mounted just under each wing root, and you could see over a dozen smaller point defense turrets placed strategically along its hull. It certainly looked to be a ship built to get up close and personal.

"And the hero has arrived!" Molly proclaims happily. "Hey there, Sam! Hey there dirty pirate scum!"

"Oh, I like her already!" Felicity chortles.

"Well, it's already been decided that we'll distract the defense forces while brave Captain Sam here handles the actual jailbreaking!" Felicity chuckles. "What of our dear Captain Molly?"

"Molly, you'll be sticking close to us." You instruct your fellow Accord captain. While we're boarding the the transport, Gullinbursti will be a sitting duck, so we'll need you to hold back any Heg forces that get funny ideas."

"Haha, I guess that's fine!" Molly chuckles. "If I do save you, that'll just be another one you owe me! Then we can double team that pirate after she tries her sudden yet inevitable betrayal!"

"Ha, now I REALLY like this one!" Felicity laughs. "I wouldn't mind getting double teamed~."

"Calm down, you two." You groan. "If the intel is right, that transport will be leaving right about now. Get ready to jump to FTL in 30 seconds."

"Aye aye, Captain." Felicity says somewhat mockingly.

"All right! Let's do this!" Molly says in expectation.

"Amy, you have the coordinates punched in?" You ask your helmswoman.

"Yep." Amy nods.

"Captain." Bradford steps forward. "I understand you have a bit of a personal stake in this matter. I was wondering if you were really comfortable handle this from the bridge."

"What are you saying, Bradford?" You raise an eyebrow.

"I'm wondering if you would rather be part of the boarding team." Bradford sighs, obviously uncomfortable with the suggestion. "While I would otherwise advise against it, it seems appropriate for a mission such as this..."

"Go get em, Cap!" Amy grins.

"Don't go dying on us." Elsa adds.

Lida just gives a quiet thumbs up.

Tank already seems to know what's to happen, and steps aside and points to see which armor you want to take.

You point to the heavy armor suit, which naturally was much larger and bulkier than the light armor. It as actually similar to the armor that Tank was wearing. Tank nods and gently picks you up by the shoulders like a cat and lowers you into the open armor. Immediately, the sensors in the armor detect your suit and immediately begins closing up around you, enclosing you in its protective armor shell. The helmet lowers over your head and the display winks on, giving you all of the relevant data that you needed.

POWER: 100%
SHIELDS: 100%
ARMOR: 100%

Tank motions to your that POWER is usually used to boost the armor's speed, strength, or shield power. It slowly regenerated over time, but it was best not to use it up all at once if possible. The heavy armor also generated its own protective SHIELD, which provided an additional layer of protection over your base armor. Shields would absorb damage in lieu of your armor, but could quickly be drained and would need to be regenerated from your suit's power supply, so it was best not to get too reckless.

You nod at Tank's explanation, and then he points to the rack of weapons next to you. There were a few loadouts he suggested.

First was a heavy plasma rifle with an underslung grenade launcher that fired submunition rounds at high velocity. A good offensive weapon.

Second was a plasma caster, which was essentially an energy shotgun. Instead of pellets or submunitions, the plasma was channeled through a special refractor that split the projectile from a single beam into multiple smaller ones, creating a cone effect that made it monstrous in close quarters. There was also a handheld high frequence ax for even closer encounters.

The final loadout was a heavy riot shield, that had its own build in shield generator separate from your suit's. However, the weight and bulk of the shield meant you'd only be able to handle a smaller plasma carbine rather than a full size weapon.

Well, you weren't THAT much of a fighter, so you'd very much rather choose a more defensive loadout. Tank and the others could handle all of the actual nitty and gritty stuff of putting down enemies. You take up the shield and carbine. The shield automatically clamps to your forearm, and then retracts into a smaller size so it'd be easier to move around with. You then pick up the plasma carbine and it automatically maglocks to your thigh holster. Tank nods his approval at your choice and goes to take his own weapons, a massive two handed high frequency sword and an equally massive plasma repeater cannon. He certainly was not skimping on the armament. He gives you the thumbs up to signify that he was ready.

POWER: 100%
SHIELDS: 200%
ARMOR: 150%

As you, Tank, and the combination of men and combat robots march to the Gullinbursti's docking port, ready to breach. That's when Bradford's voice comes on again.

"Captain, it occurred to me." He says. "Perhaps instead of going through the whole transport looking for our target, we just hijack the entire ship instead?"

"The ship's bridge is sure to be the most heavily protected part of the ship, through." Amy points out. "Especially for a prison transport."

"Still, perhaps we can get a use out of the other prisoners. They can't ALL be pirate scum, right?" Elizabeth suggests.

"And if they are, well, more test subjects for me!" Natalia unnecessarily adds.

"We're going to take the whole ship, of course!" You say. "If we're going to go hard, we might as well go big, right?"

"It's your call, Captain." Bradford sighs. "Brace yourselves, we're jumping to FTL in 3...2..1..."

You feel the Gullinbursti rumble as she makes the shift to FTL, and then rumbles again scant few seconds later when she drops out. You cue up the tactical display to your helmet, and can already see what's going on from the Gullinbursti's perspective. Lavender's Kiss dives straight into the fray, vomiting mass driver rounds and missiles at Hellgate Station. The station immediately lights up as point defense turrets and heavy weapons activate to both intercept the missiles and retaliate against the pirate ship. The two Halcyon class destroyers, their transponders tagging them as the Bulwark and the Winter's Bite, immediately make a beeline for the Lavender's Kiss. Felicity of course knows that she can't beat two Hegemony destroyers in an up front battle, so it was fortunate all she needed to do was merely distract them. The Lavender's kiss immediately turns away, taking itself out of the Halcyon's optimal engagement range, but staying just close enough to entice them to try and follow her.

Meanwhile, the Gullinbursti and Astral Rush make a beeline for the large, boxy prison transport ship, which was only identified by a generic serial number. These ships tended not to be armed, and weren't terribly fast or maneuverable, so it would be a simple task for Gullinbursti to dock with it.

"Hey Cap, should we soften them up a bit?" Elsa suggests.

"No! We need the ship in one piece, Elsa!" You groan.

"I'm just saying, we wing it a little!" Elsa clarifies. "Knock the crew off balance so it'll be easier to raid the ship!"

"Or risk sucking everybody out into vacuum." Amy counters.

"Don't harm it. We don't want to risk breaking anything." You tut.

"Fiiiiine." Elsa sighs.

"Fiiiiiine." Molly sighs.

You look through the tactical display again and see the Gullinbursti taking position over the prison transport. The docking tube then comes down, locking onto the transport's dorsal hatch as the built in plasma cutter begins slicing through the other ship's hatch to give access. Tank motions for his squad to stack up to prepare for breach, and then motions for you to take position directly behind him. Looks like he didn't want you leaving his sight.

Even though you're the Captain, Tank has been a veteran of countless boarding actions, so you'll defer to his lead. You take position directly behind him as he glances at the plasma cutter progress indicator. The light turns from red to green, signifying that the the cutting process was done.

Tank then curtly gives the signal that he's beginning the breach. He hits the switch and the hatch swings open with frightening speed. Tank then promptly leaps down the docking collar, landing into the transport ship below with a loud CLANG as his steel boots clashed with the ship's deck. You then hear shouts and screams and the sounds of gunfire for a brief second before a click from Tank indicates everything was clear.

You then jump down through the collar, your armor absorbing the shock of the landing to a degree that you don't even feel it. You quickly move out of the way as the rest of the boarding team leaps down. You look to see two large, smoking scorch marks on the hall, apparently all that was left of two poor Hegemony guards. Tank gives you the thumbs up. Everything was clear.

Tank then taps your shoulder and points to a control panel. Apparently it was important.

"Lida, what am I looking at, here?" You ask as you point the panel.

"Hmmmm, it looks like the cell block controls." Lida says as she looks through your helmet feed. "If you can plug in a remote transmitter, I think I can hack it."

"What can we do with it?" You ask.

"Open up the cells, of course." Lida says. "It would serve as a nice distraction."

"Until the prisoners turn on the Captain." Bradford warns.

You look to Tank, who shrugs. Either way is good for him. He gets to smash heads regardless.

"We'll keep them penned up for now." You say. The LAST thing you needed was complete chaos onboard.

"So what's the plan, Tank?" You ask your giant armored companion.

Tank transmits a map to you, showing three possible routes. One led through the ship's maintenance passages. Less chances they'd be fortified or guarded, but those were extremely narrow and close quarters, which could make things difficult if a fight really did start. You could detour through the cell blocks, which were fairly open for a ship interior and could afford the most maneuverability, but there were sure to be lots of obstacles.

Or, you could just blitz through the ship's main corridor and punch through whatever the ship's defenders may have set up.

"We go in full frontal assault. What else?" You grin at Tank as if it were the most obvious answer in the world.

Tank nods and pats pats your armored helm in approval as he powers up his plasma cannon, ready to charge forward. Around you, Tank's men and combat bots start getting their own weapons ready as well.

Tank turns to you and gives a slight nod. He'd prefer that you stay back as rearguard. He'll call you forward once everything was safe.

"Hell no, I'm going with you." You scowl as you poke Tank's armored chestpiece. "No debate."

Tank shakes his head in exasperation, but otherwise does not protest. He reminds you to keep your shield raised at all times, and if you were going to fire, be absolutely sure that you were going to. You nod and Tank checks the rest of the squad. They're all ready.

You decide to stick near Tank as he charged forward. Up ahead, you could see that the transport's crew has set up a ramshackle defensive line. However, these guys were just prison guards, not fully trained soldiers. They were there to keep the prisoners from escaping, not professional troops from busting in. The guards, wearing simple cloth uniforms and armored vests, were hiding behind hastily erected storage containers and riot barriers, armed with a variety of rifles and shotguns. When they see the massive black bulk of Tank charging forward ,they all open fire.

In a flash, you're taking position in front of Tank and raising your shield to protect him from the brunt of the incoming fire. Magnetically driven rifle rounds and slugs slam into the blue protective barrier project in front of your shield, either shattering on impact or deflecting off at oblique angles. Tank doesn't expect the move, but doesn't protest. Instead, you feel the weight of his plasma cannon rest on your shoulder as he uses your armor as a makeshift mount to stabilize his weapon. Your armor protects you from the discharge of the massive plasma cannon as it fires huge columns of ruby energy down the corridor. However, you can still feel a bit of the heat bleed through the shields, armor layers, and insulation.

Behind you, the rest of the squad slowly advances, pumping their own plasma fire down the hallway. Their lower output weapons punch holes through the crates and people they hit, causing nasty but neat burn holes.

On the other hand, Tank's plasma cannon just completely obliterates whatever it points at. A knot of four men take position to fire, but a pull of the trigger turns them into ash.

Unfortunately, Tank gets a bit TOO trigger happy, and the plasma cannon whines as its internal components begin to overheat. Tank finally drops the cannon and pulls out his sword. There's a hesitation in the enemy fire as the guards see what Tank is doing.

You decide to let Tank do his thing as he continues to chase the ship guards away. You continue on to the bridge with some of the combat bots. You let them do most of the heavy lifting as they start fitting breaching charges onto the door leading to the bridge. However, before the combat bots even have the chance to put on the breaching charges, the doors slide open, revealing a massive armored figure. It was undoubtedly Hegemony power armor, which like their ships, relied on multiple layers of heavy armor for protection rather than energy shielding. It was crude and unsophisticated, but sometimes that was enough.

The swing of two massive armored fists smashes two of the combat bots to pieces, leaving you with only two left. The last two bots immediately raise their rifles and start firing. Their plasma beams dig into the Hegemony trooper's armor, but don't penetrate all the way. Obviously this armor had some sort of ablative layer to reduce the effectiveness of energy weaponry.

Almost immediately, rapid clicking from Tank says that he's coming right away. Was he looking through your visual feed this entire time? Regardless, you had to survive until he got here.

And that Hegemony trooper was starting to make some nasty looks at you...

"Shit!" You curse as you instinctively raise your shield and back off. Your two remaining combat bots stride forward in an effort to protect you, their programming obviously prioritizing the life of a human over their own.

However, the Heg trooper whips out a massive shotgun, a single blast of it shattering one of the bots like glass. The second bot keeps firing until a massive armored gauntlet crushes its head like an egg.

"Shit shit shit!" You curse the Heg trooper starts bounding towards you with a speed you never thought possible from a giant his size. He fires several shotgun rounds which are absorbed by your handheld shield, but you see a warning blinking rapidly on your HUD that its power had been expended, leaving only the physical part of the shield left.

Meanwhile Tank's clicks intensify as he's almost there.

You jet forward at full speed, The Heg trooper tries to respond by firing his shotgun at you, but your shield manages to absorb the hits, and does absolutely nothing to stop your forward momentum. You feel a shockwave ripple through you body as your shield finally impacts against the Heg trooper, as expected.

What you DIDN'T expect, however, was that you KEPT GOING.

Through the corridor.

Through the open bridge doors.

Through the bridge.

And finally stopping at the front viewport, where the back of the Heg trooper smashes against he reinforced glass, sandwiched between it and your shield. The Heg trooper tries to move to counterattack, but freezes when a little crackling sound is heard.

And the glass shatters.

Immediately, the Heg trooper is sucked out into the vacuum of space, and you see a few of the unlucky bridge crew get sucked out right after him. You start getting pulled forward as well, but get yanked to a stop when you realize Tank is behind you, holding your hand as he mag clamps his boots to the deck and frantically motions for you to do the same.

Reminded, you activate your magnetic boots, securing you to the deck as the bridge's emergency blast shutters slide closed, ending the explosive decompression.

"Um... thanks, Tank." You say, a bit embarrassed. "I think I kinda overdid it..."

Tank merely gives you a thumbs up of full approval.

For some reason that gave you a really warm feeling inside. It felt nice.

"Oh, right! I nearly forgot!" You quickly rush over to a nearby console and jam a transmitter into it. "Lida! We have control of the bridge!"

"Injecting hacking program." Lida mutters. "Give it a few minutes and we'll have full remote control of the ship."

"Bradford, update?" You ask your First Mate.

"Felicity is doing a good job distracting the destroyers, but her ship has taken some pretty heavy damage. All she can do is dodge their attacks at this point." Bradford states. "The Hegemony's QRF should be arriving any minute now, so you're right on time. Once Lida's done we can slave the ship to the Gullinbursti and we can FTL out."

"What about Felicity?" You ask.

"She's a pirate. I'm sure she can handle herself." Bradford replies simply.

>You should help Felicity.

I want a scene where Bradford see the glass shattering and goes "man, Tank really went too far this time" only for the ship the reposition and look at the Sam getting dragged out before Tank catch her.

We're bugging the fuck out of here and having a chat with our VIP.

Also, I'm heading to bed. But guys, promise me one thing. When we meet our man of the hour, there is one thing that needs to be said. Kept ya waiting, huh?

"Molly, you mind giving Felicity a hand?" You request to your fellow Accord captain.

"Ohoho, asking me to save the life of a dirty pirate?" Molly chuckles. "What a strange situation we're in!"

"Can you do it?" You sigh. "You'll still be blowing up Heggies."

"I guess that works!" Molly says cheerfully. "All right! Astral Rush, moving out! You owe me double for this, Sam!"

Ugh, you wonder what that means...

"Captain, we're heading for the FTL jump point." Bradford informs you. "The transport's controls are slaved to ours, so there's no more need for you to be on board. Leave it to Tank and his team to secure the ship."

But this was you chance to talk to Genger...

"Sorry, Bradford, I still have things to do on this ship." You say.

"Captain, at least wait for-"

You cut off the comm before Bradford can finish. You were going to talk to Genger and there wasn't a thing that would stop you. Tank looks at you with some concern.

"Tank, you're coming with me." You say.

Tank points a finger at himself, as if wondering what you wanted of him.

"Just come with me!" You growl as you grab his armored hand with your own and start dragging him along.

Tank, either taken off guard or unwilling to disobey you, doesn't resist and goes along with you. More of Scott's combat bots flood into the transport as they mop up the last of the Hegemony crew's resistance and secure the ship. You ignore them as you entire the cellblocks and head for the cell Genger is supposed to be in. You don't even wait as you wrench the door open with your armor's enhanced strength. Inside, you see and old man with white dreadlocks. The moment he sees you, he nearly pisses his pants.

"I don't know anything! Honest!" He cries.

"Oh, I'm sure you do." You growl as you retract your helmet so he can get a good look at your face.

"C-Carly?!?" Genger's eyes look like they're about to pop. "W-w-what are YOU doing here?!?!"

You note that not only did Genger just acknowledge he knew Carly, but he was now even MORE scared.

"No, I'm not Carly." You say as you crack your armored knuckles. "I can be FAR WORSE if you don't tell me what I want to know..."

>And that's all for tonight! As always, next thread is next week! And don't forget Kancolle on Friday!
