War has come to the New Necrotic Armada.

Across multiple systems the foes of the New Necrotic Armada have arrived over time and either have already launched into conflict with the Armada or hold back and prepare for their attack.

The Deep Rot, the driving force of the hordes of Reconstructed, dedicates its vast mind to the defense of the systems you left in its charge. Reconstructed rush from their tasks to flood into ships, necrotic ships lifting off and readying themselves for battle.

Your Generals shouting orders as they joined their personal ships or readied themselves for battle, excitement rising within them for yet another chance to prove themselves. Once Revenant Lorgul complained of the peace that the fledgling Armada "suffered" from but as of late there has been no lack of combat for the bloodthirsty warrior.

With you gone on board the Fury of the Wormstar to defend a potential allies system from vicious attackers the defense of the New Necrotic Armada fell to the responsibilities of the undead Generals and the Necrolyte Legion. This would be a potent test for your forces, seeing how they defended the homestead against multiple invaders.

The New Necrotic Armada was under attack but it was far from defenseless and it will teach them the folly of attacking their home.

Completed Research:
>Necrotic/Living Experimentation: The Think Tanks have performed many thorough experiments on the effects that Necrotic power and technology could have on living biology. They saught to manipulate living tissue directly rather than breaking corpses into their base parts. The results have been...interesting. There were mishaps where mutated test subjects had to be put down permenantly or they just could not survive the drastic and cruel procedures.
>Solar Engine: A sphere of solar fire, a miniature sun contained and used as a potent energy source.
>Ship Stealth Technology: The Divers of the Sunscale created the Ship Stealth systems, relying on refracted light and sound canceling, their very presence nearly undetectable.
>Sunscale Dissection and Reanimation: The ability to break down and reconstruct Sunscale biomass has long eluded you but with the aid of the Blackscale Cabal you have found a loophole to this blockade.

Unlocked:
Solar Engine: A potent energy source that can provide for the means of an entire capitol ship or even small towns. Resembling a miniature sun this reactor of radioactive fire is contained within powerful magnetic fields.

Ship Mod: Solar Reactor - Replacing the regular rector cores of a Capitol Ship this reactor grants the ship a resistance to Ion, Arc and Necrotic attacks it is nonetheless vulnerable to Void powered attacks that manage to penetrate the outer hull. The reactor can be "flared" to grant a boost to speed and shield strength for a limited time but the effect is temporary and require time to charge. Cost: 85B 65M

Construction: Solar Powerstation - Centered around a small sun that can reach fifteen meters in diameter this facility can provide lasting clean energy for a resource facilities or multiples linked together for Cities. This increases productivity of biomass farms and Solar collectors. One Solar Powerstation can power five Biomass Farms. A city the size of Iti'a'Ropku requires six powerstations placed through the city to provide full power. Cost: 2000B 1500M

Ship Stealth: An array of projectors placed throughout the hull of the ship allows the ships to disappear from sight and most conventional sensors. Gravity sensors work unhindered but other sensors fail to detect the craft reliably. Damage and environmental effects can cause the stealth to fail as well. A ship cannot fire weapons or enter FTL without breaking stealth although an FTL engine can be charged prior to breaking stealth. Most effective on small craft and sub-capitols. Cost: 10B 10M per 10 meters of ship length rounded down.

Unlocked:
Sunscale Reanimation: It is infinitely infuriating but the Sunscale, those who pledged themselves fully to their gods the Mother in the Void and the Father from the Solar, are immune to Reconstruction and breaking down in the Cauldrons. At least normally. With the aid of a Blackscale attendant they are able to use Cauldrons to reanimate Sunscales and enhance their natural abilities with minor necrotic upgrades. Including repairing and enhancing the Sunscale zombies they already have in their possession. It requires the attention of Jadyk plus the entirety of the Cabal to focus on Reconstructing a powerful member of the Sunscale into a hero unit much like the creation of Dominator Valresko. Reanimated Sunscale retain their memories and shadows of their personalities from life but generally melancholy of temperament as they constantly feel the shame of becoming undead yet they still serve their Blackscale masters obediently. All except for the Warblood and the Albinos that is, who retain their free will and will seek to destroy themselves while killing as many other undead as they can in their rampage.

New Unit:
Blackscale Knight: By taking the bones of Warblood Sunscales and corrupting them in a profane ritual the Blackscale are able to construct a powerful undead. Standing at a hulking nine feet tall and wearing armor almost thick enough to withstand artillery blasts. Armed with a Necrotic Blade or heavy weapon like the Flayer and the ability to breath blasts of necrotic flame the Knight is a powerful warrior to reflect those that it was formed from. Cost: 5 Sunscale Warbloods or Albinos + 30B 20M

Reconstructed Prosthesis: By submerging themselves into a Cauldron chamber a living subject can have missing portions of their body replaced with a prosthesis resembling a Reconstructed. This includes limbs and replacing simple organs like the heart and other muscles with enhanced versions. Skin and natural exoskeletons can also be replaced with armored replacements. Extreme levels of prosthetic replacement leading to the subject resembling a Reconstructed themselves. These prosthetics are easily repaired with another trip into a Cauldron chamber or even enhanced with adaptations or weapons similar to the Exoskeletons.

The Immortals: The ability to keep ones memories after being Reconstructed has long eluded the abilities of the Think Tanks or yourself. Now they believe they have corrected that flaw. A living subject, whether healthy or severely injured, is placed into a special Cauldron chamber and submerged in necrotic Biomass. Subjects must endure a painful process as they are injected with raw Biomass and their bodies repaired and Reconstructed. The process takes over a day to complete as their bodies are systemically broken down and Reconstructed into their new forms. Retaining their memories the newly undead arise in new forms that resemble their previous bodies but obviously Reconstructed and undead. Immortals no longer have the need to breath, eat, or drink but they may still do so without issue. As their name implies they no longer have to worry about the ravages of time as long as there is a Cauldron nearby to repair themselves with. Subjects that possess an affinity for an elemental energy retain their connection but there is a risk the procedure can backfire, resulting in the true death of the subject as their personal energy resists the procedure.

Necrotic Mutations: It has been known that prolonged exposure to ambient Necrotic energy can lead to minor mutations in a populace over generations or within lifetimes depending on the intensity of the energy. The Think Tanks have discovered how to harness and direct this effect. This can be used to cause random genetic mutations in clone subjects or affecting the ecosystem surrounding Necrotic structures. In cloned subjects this can diversify a gene pool while also raising the risk of disorders and potential cancers. The flipside of this is that the Think Tanks have developed a supplement for living subjects that prevents the effects of ambient Necrotic energy on genetic structures when taken once daily and a procedure to partially reverse and halt the effects of mutations already in progress.

Scans of Colonists and Necrolyte Legionnaires that have lived in close contact with Necrotic technology revealed the presence of early cancers and minor mutations which the Think Tanks have begun to address under the guise of free healthcare.

Osjiic Empire ships have arrived in Horizon's Drop, searching for Sub-Admiral Estkri and the two fleets lost with her. Terrordromes stationed around the jovian world and its moons holding back their onslaught for the moment.

Further in the system closer to the scorching red sun the Dagger Pirate clan searching for their lost Clanship and Clanleader. They bark over the airwaves, demanding the release of the Clanship and shouting insults to the Osjiic dogs.

Within Bastion ships have appeared in orbit over Rukor and the Lavafathers moon, swarms of Esat fighters and gunships launching from their carrier ships. Arc energy crackles off the capitol ships, indicating the presence of juvenile or male Ahkam serpents to create their Storm Gates. Muic breaks her vigil to rush for her personal Destroyer as defensive Terrordromes slice into the clouds of ships. Ships descend for the surface of both worlds, anti-air defenses launching missiles and flenser fire into the air to cut down the swarms of fighters.

In the system Station 88 was held a Confederate fleet appeared in search of Dretst's fleet and to retake the station and the world it was anchored to. Large hangar ships launch their fighters as Necrolytes left behind in the station aim its defenses at the fleet but await their orders. Eiton sprints through the halls of the station from his explorations of the city towards his corvette. He teleports short distances in a flash of Arc-lightning, rebounding off the walls in his haste.

Lorgul, Jareth, Valresko, and Nekris depart from Horizon's Drops moon to claim their ships. Void-Terrors lifting into orbit as Dominator Valresko streaks across space like a gleaming comet to join the Charnel Vault and command from its bridge.

The time for war was here.

How about we start by deploying our mocked up osijic and netu craft against both opposing factions, and vector their approaches to make it seem like they were sent by the bulk of the fleets in the system. We can deploy our critcrawls in the paths between the fleets, to increase the likliehood of them successfully latching onto enemy ships.

If we got the Armatocere to help out terraforming a world for them to settle and maybe giving them the clanship we captured, they could be convinced to ally with us. As Muic's ship lifts into the air guarded by Gunships and Nails they are already accosted by Esat fighters breaking through the stormlayer. Beams of light and the flash of burning rounds illuminate the dark skies as the ships tear into each other. Esat grapple fighters latching onto Nails to tear at them before being blasted by the Gunships turrets.

Hillsides lift up and rotate, cannons made of volcanic stone aiming before filling the air with burning flak that rips apart the enemy fighters. Neither Muic nor Agona had seen the defensive capabilities of the Lavafather but he had clearly been preparing his own home for war.

There is a transmission to Muic from the Obsidianborn ambassador at Agona's fortress bunker but it was the Lavafather that contacted her through it, "Let us fight and defend Bastion together."

As Muics ships escape the stormlayer they are joined by a fleet of stone ships punching through the clouds across the moon. From the metal rich moon the Lavafather had been mining more ships launched into battle, mountains of stone and metal burning bright as they launched into battle against the Ahkam.

Burning rounds streak across the blackness of space to melt through the hulls of fighters and corvettes. A globs of mixed molten stone and metal are launched after shields fail coating and burning through the hulls and weapons mounts. Nimble fighters shaped like the Stonestars themselves dance through the battle, spinning and slicing through Esat fighters in a deadly melee with great blades of glowing obsidian.

Muic could hardly hold back her joy as she leads her ships into battle, sending a sizable portion to Rukor where the Ahkam were attempting to land their ships. Already villages burn, pillars of black smoke rising into the atmosphere.

Jor grabs his personal Demi-Think Tank to stare into its single crystal eye and shout at it to contact the Armatocere. He mutters to himself as he stares up at the skies where flashes of light could be seen and waits for a reply.

Finally Sapling Slrrt's voice responds, "Greetings Ambassador Jor. We are awaiting the arrival of your Master, how are-"

Jor cuts him off, "We request your aid! We are under attack by multiple enemies including the Osjiic, Confederacy, and Ahkam!"

The response from Slrrt is delayed but he answers, his synthetic voice serious, "We can spare a sub-fleet. Where do you wish it to go?"

"We need help defending this system," Jor says as the coordinates are transmitted.

"This is a known Confederate system. Why do you have control over it?" Slrrt's accusing reply came.

"We actually liberated it from the Osjiic after discovering the world they fight over possesses old ruins that may have importance to the Armada. I...understand if you would decline," the necromancer says through gritted teeth.

There is a delay that makes the humans nerves fray as he hears the Ructu ambassadors that were herded inside demanding to know what was going on. Finally the floral ambassador replies, "We will aid you against the Confederates. Perhaps even gain you a measure of defense against further incursions but this will ally us in the eyes of the greater galaxy. The Eldertrees are willing to attempt this if you are willing to accept the responsibility.

Jor chews on his thumb as he debates the choice. If the Armatocere were to appear in defense of a strange new faction it would color their view of the Necrotic Armada before official introductions could be made. Yet Jor knew that the Legion and the Armada both have paid dearly to take the system and Jadyk likely loathe to lose it.

This coupled with our earlier plans of possibly building Entropic Diggers for their use and cutting out the middle-man of trade negotiations would allow our allies a great deal of breathing space to their own resource shortcomings that were mentioned way back when.

Plus, as full allies it might make it easier to pitch the idea of a joint research station to them

I was thinking, make it a planet in neutral space between us, defended by both our forces; we could provide terrordromes and ground forces aplenty, and they could provide shielding and ships; basically just have a entire system dedicated to joint research, that could progress later on to a joint-colonised world of some kind.

But I'm just an anion; up to everyone else.

Letting out a small sigh Jor makes one of the biggest decisions he's had to since deciding to follow Jadyk's vision of the future. Steeling himself he replies to the Armatocere, "I speak for Jadyk and the Necrotic Armada and I take responsibility for this decision. Send your forces to this system. We already have a small presence there but they are outnumbered. Thank you for this help, Slrrt. I hope this works out for the best for us all."

"Very well. The reinforcements are on their way as we speak and shall arrive shortly. I too hope this is the best for both of us. We have a plan that may gain you some leeway with the Confederates if it works out," the Sapling promises before cutting the connection.

Within the system of Armatocere your Eyegore was allowed to stay in it watches as several of the massive treeships in orbit over their worlds retract their leaves and branches. Their ships accelerate rapidly into the distance as they spaghetify and disappear.

Armatocere are en route to the Station 88 system. Currently Predator Eiton and a small fleet defend the system with several Terrordromes. Necrolyte Legionnaires and Reconstructed control the Station and its defenses. The Confederates are further out into the system but traveling for the planet with weapons ready.

Plans for dealing with the Confederates until the Armatocere arrive?

I like your line of thinking there but we need to think bigger, like beast of rukor and krysser bigger. Our bioships are currently woefully lacking in available mods, we should start cloning rukors predators to try and develop new ones.

But evolution's only refining metric is "did it survive and reproduce". It doesn't even tend to improve anything specific unless there are relevant selection pressures. So I'm partially saying, what should the selection pressures be? How do you decide what should survive/breed to make the next generation?

You don't start a breeding program without a goal.
>>
>>46722352
Still havent even sent aquatic troops into our own oceans of Horizon's Drop

Which is oddly similar to HQQ. We never got around to exploring Leelands oceans despite talking about making underwater bunkers.

Use the station as a screen. Its doubtful the ConFeds will open up with big guns if the city is in line of sight, leaving them to use fighters and light ships at knife fight range.
>>
>>46722406

But it's not a breeding program, it's making empty meat-pockets, subjecting them to several vectors of extensive and somewhat stable mutation the entire time they are growing, looking at the end result and seeing if anything is worth attempting to develop further.

You are not Jadyk of the Wormstar. You are Predator Eiton, the second of the Arc users in the New Necrotic Armada and right now you are faced with a sizable enemy.

The Confederates come for their lost world and space city. First taken by the Osjiic then liberated by the Armada, they once sought to retake it with Captain Dretst and her fleet. But now they send a warfleet to retake it and they outnumber you.

Yet you grin as you sit on a throne of bone and muscle on board your ship. You can tell by the bold movements of the nearing fleet that they believed themselves to be in control of the coming conflict. Excited to show them their folly you order your ships to split up. One half stays clustered around and below Station 88 as the other moves to hide behind the planet, their Skip drives spooling. Terrordromes drift close to the station, Flayers glowing as they waited for their order to attack.

The Confederates were less-likely to strike first if they risked hitting the very same station they were sent to capture and it appears your hunch was right. Even as the capitols neared range they with-held their attacks instead coming to a halt with their weapons and engines charged and ready to fire.

As you expected a hail is sent and a screen flickers to life before you but you make sure not to send an image in return. A human female stands in the screen, her uniform crisp with many medals on her chest and the metal visor covering her eyes glinting in the light, "This is Admiral Rotaka and I demand know who dares to take what is property of the Confederacy of Planets. You are trespassing and in evidence of aggression against the Confederacy, a potential declaration of war. Declare yourself and your intentions or be fired upon."

How shall you reply to these bold demands?

I am Eiton, in service of Lord Jadyk. We found this system under Osjic control and acted accordingly. As your people failed to hold it, the Osjic in turn lost it to us, at no small cost. Our allies are due here VERY shortly so you can either power down your weapons and talk like civilized entities, or you can attempt to fight us. That would be a very unwise decision Admiral, especially considering the delicate nature of the ruins down below. A battle could easily make a stray shot ruin them, and everything in them, completely.

Hey, maybe we can try to diplomance the confederates too? We were planning to do that anyway. At least get them to non-agression phase.

We can work out the terms. They will probably demand the return of the system and the station, which we can do once we get the research and explore the ruins.

We can Bluff and say that the ruins belong to the old armada and we've come to claim them.

Those last two haven't even shown up yet, it's entirely possible they're dead or ascended to a higher plane of existence. Either way the Confederacy is too big and politically nebulous to make a reliable ally for us at this point. And given their massive size it's extremely likely we will come into more conflict with them in the future as we continue to expand our borders. No, ideally we should intimidate them into respecting our sovereignty, maybe trading a bit on the side, all the while spying on each other and covertly infiltrating them. Much more interesting that way.

You mull over your response as you watch your split forces run their Skip Drives, disappearing for a split second before reappearing further out in the shadow of the jovian world. From this position they had the chance to attack from the flank and the ships hide close to one of the moons to avoid detection.

Finally you give your answer, "Greeting Admiral Rotaka. I am Predator Eiton of the New Necrotic Armada and we have claimed this system after wresting control of it from the Osjiic Empire that slaughtered your citizenry here. What right do you have to come here and reclaim this system for your weak Confederacy? You could not protect your people and had to rely on us liberating and rescuing them from a massacre at the hands of the Empire. Begone from this system, it is under new protection."

You hope this delays them long enough for the reninforcements Jor promised you. The Admiral frowns on the screen, "You make bold claims. The Necrotic Armada is a legend and destroyed long ago. There is nothing to validate your claims and you will turn over control of this system," she motions to someone off screen and a railgun round is fired from the battleship, the round sailing past the station to strike the far continent of the planet with the force of several nuclear tons, "That was a warning shot. The next we aim for the station and your fleet. Vacate now. Your time is running short."

You are no longer Predator Eiton. Within the Horizon's Drop system the Osjiic warfleet moves towards the capitol planet after destroying the Terrordromes stationed around the jovian world the Armada harvested for fuel.

Lorgul, Jareth, and the Voidsingers fly past the Charnerl Vault in their Void-Terrors, the black metal ships shimmering with Void energy as flights of Nails follow in their wake. Dominator Valresko stands in the command bridge of the Charnel Vault as he commands the fleets into position to defend the system.

Predator Nekris commands his fleet from a Battlecruiser as he aims himself toward the Dagger Fleet ready to intercept them.

The Dagger Fleet holds back with the light of the star to their back as if waiting to see which if the Osjiic and the Armada tore each other apart.

How shall you deal with the incoming conflict?
>>
>>46723719

Punctuate this by having our fleet decimate the osiijics in the background while they talk

They hate the Osjiic, they'll enjoy seeing them get wrecked and we can bond over our shared hatred for them while floating among the corpses of their fleet.
>>
>>46723938
Speak with the pirates jovially while we ruthlessly destroy the osjiic. Welcoming then to territory owned by the necrotic armada as guests. If they ask be truthful but explain it like it was a miscommunications between perceive invaders and a recently awoken native group

"Sorry the isjiic where doin their best to destroy your fellows and our appearances lead to, misunderstandings.. But let us not allow past errors cloud what could be a most fruitful future"

Jor asks Nekris to hold his attack as he sends a hail to the Dagger fleet. The screen flickers open with a scarred Netu in an exosuit heavily decorated with trophies including Confederate officer medals, Osjiic fingers and even a pauldron made of Ahkam scales. Jor bows his head, "Greetings, mighty Dagger. I plead that you hold your attacks. We are the New Necrotic Armada and we would have peaceful words with you after we deal with the Osjiic curs."

As Jor speaks Dominator Valresko, solar flames flickering off his form, thrusts his hand forward with a shout, the first volley of spinal cannons and missiles unleashed across the void of space at the incoming Osjiic fleets. Void-Terrors trailing after the first salvo with flights of Nails, Gunships and Sub-capitols, the members of the Voidknight order shouting their challenges against the Osjiic.

Osjiic heavy fighters and gunships clash with the Necrotic forces, Void-screamers tearing through their craft as the Void-Terrors carve their way through the small craft toward the larger ships. Boarding ships rush with their Corvette guards toward the capitol ships, dodging missiles and blasts of Void energy. An Osjiic frigate is shattered under a barrage of missiles from a Destroyer.

The Netu is silent for a long time as they look off screen, likely watching as the fleets engage. Finally they reply, "We have no love for Imperials. Make them suffer," they say simply before the screen goes blank. The Dagger Fleet remains in formation but make no move to attack yet Nekris still keeps watch over them.

You're correct about there being distinctions between a curbstomp victory and Pyrrhic one, but that isn't a stalemate, with all due respect. Punisher Muic is forced to tear herself away from fighting alongside the Lavafathers ships as they cut through the Ahkam craft after a Think Tank demands her help defending Rukor and its natives. Apologizing to the Lavafather and the Obsidianborn her ships disentangle themselves to sail for the ocean dominated world.

Her ships, reinforced by a group of Obsidianborn craft, engage the Ahkam ships in orbit as Coffins and Gunships descend to the world below to assist the ructu. Coffins open their bay doors unleashing tides of Talons and Stingers, Trolls and Cyclops that launch themselves and fire at the Ahkam already hunkering down in defensive positions in the shells of ructu homes.

Brutes and Crawlers are deposited on the surface, the large reconstructed marching resolutely across islands and beaches bombarding the Ahkam. A Brute smashes down a hastily erected barricade surrounding their dropships before dousing the screaming Ahkam soldiers with its Napalmthrower as Talons and Stalkers flood in around it.

The stoneships of the Lavafather tear into the Ahkam ships but more and more of their dropships break through the clouds as they attempt to land their troops on the surface of the volcanic moon. Stonestar warriors already engaging those on the ground as they utilize the myriad of tunnels and lavatubes throughout the surface to ambush and attack the would-be invaders. Gastropod mounted weapons exchanging fire with the troops, a lightning cannon managing to shoot down a dropship before the spined living weapon was detonated with a missile strike.

The Volcano rumbles and sprays molten lava into the air in response to the brashness of the invaders. Stonestar not engaged with the battle increasing their chanting and zealous prayer beseeching the Lavafather and the Armada for protection. There was a great shaking of the ground that knocks many of the combatants to the ground, a geyser of magma launching from one of the great pools of glowing stone around the base of the great volcano.

The Stonestar gathered nearby begin to cheer and shout as a sarcophagi of stone rises from the molten lake. The ground quakes as the voice of the Lavafather rumbles out, shocking the Ahkam troops as they turn to stare at the great mountain, "Behold! The power of the Lavafather and the might of Necrotic Legion! Arise! Arise Punisher Agona of the Reforged! Arise and show these heretics your power!"

Glowing cracks appeared in the stone sarcophagi before exploding open. Standing on the pillar of stone was Punisher Agona yet she was much more than when she first submerged in the lake of fire. Heat radiated off her in waves, cracks in her new stone armor glowing molten. A chunk of obsidian sits at the center of her chest glowing with heat as molten liquid seeps from the seal. A shield gripped in one great fist made of a sheet of metal and stone, in the other a glowing blade emerging from a hilt of stone.

An Obsidianborn fighter swings by, slowing just enough for Agona to leap into the air to land on its hull. With a shout she swings her molten brand and bellows her challenge to the Ahkam, her voice carrying over the airwaves to the rest of the ships in the system, "I am Punisher Agona of the New Necrotic Armada and Reforged of the Lavafather! The Ahkam are unwelcome in this system! To stay is Death! To return is Death! These worlds and its people are under my protection!"

She leaps from the Obsidianborn fighter, a ball of molten fury that smashes into an Ahkam dropship at the center of one of their landing zones. With a roar of rage she charges into the throng of invaders as Stonestar emerge from the stones around her to fight at her side with zealous fury. Her molten brand carves through Tyrre and Epikor with ease, her shield deflecting their fire as they tried to retaliate. Inhaling deeply she spits out a glob of molten metal that coat Kosda screaming as they melted. A stomp of her heavy boot and a spike of stone just out of the ground to spear through the dropship that tried to escape, Agona leaping through the air with a boost from a pillar of stone launching her to crash into the cockpit dragging it to the ground.

Punisher Agona has been Reforged, her power enhanced greatly by the will and power of the Lavafather.

Behold the terrible wonder that is the Reforged. Their sight shall burn hot as the pits of Hell, their spit shall become flowing magma. Wherever their footfalls should land shall be set aflame, the lingering flames marking their taken path.

Predator Eiton taps his claws on the armrest of the bone and muscle seat, watching the screens displaying the Confederate fleet as they waited in stand-off with the Necrotic Armada. It had been nearly an hour since the warning shot by the Confederates the Arc assassin was growing weary of the tense waiting. He wanted to join his brothers and sisters in true combat, not waiting for some Admiral to gain the courage or permission to engage with the Necrotic Fleet.

The screen flickers to life as Admiral Rotaka sends a message, "Your time is up. You will remove yourself immediately or suffer the consequences," she repeats herself as Eiton readies himself along with the ships laying in way. He had no more time to wait for the Armatocere and he wondered if they were truly coming or not.

He was about to reply when someone offscreen on the Confederates bridge shouts something about incoming contacts moments before his own sensors alert him to the arrival of a new force.

Three Armatocere Treeships appear in orbit over the world, branches unfurling and bark hulls retracting from weapon mounts and missile tubes. Fighters shaped like spiked seedpods detach and filling the void mingling with Nails and Gunships. Admiral Rotaka looks flabbergasted at the sight and Eiton laughs.

An image of a Sapling much like Slrrt but of different coloration and floral shape flickers onto the screens of both Necrotic and Confederate ships. The synthesized voice of the Armatocere calls out to both factions, "Attention Confederate forces. You are intruding on the sovereign territory of the New Necrotic Armada, the ally of the Armatocere Collective. Know this, we have been given orders to retaliate with severe force should any aggressive action be taken against us. Let me repeat. Any attack taken here against the Necrotic Armada will be seen as an attack against the Armatocere Collective and a declaration of war."

The Admiral looks furious on her screen but she motions curtly to someone off screen and Eiton laughs as the Confederate fleet begins to back off, "I'm so sorry we could get better acquainted, Admiral. I was looking forward to meeting you face to face. Now run-along. You heard the plants, this is Necrotic Armada space and do not like nosy trespassers. We'll be in touch," he says before cutting the connection to the Confederates.

He turns his attention to the floral creature on his screen as the Confederate ships began to call in their fighters once more. Bowing his head as his image appears before the plant, "My thanks. For all my bluster, they would have been a problem if not for your arrival."

The saplings stalk-eyes twist as they look over the Reconstructed General, "There is no turning back now. The Confederates think us allies and will either respect our boundaries or arrive with an even larger force. I am Sapling Gnnv, Ambassador for the Armatocere Collective."

Eiton introduces himself as they watch the Confederate fleet depart, likely with news of this new faction and their startling alliance with the isolationist Armatocere.

Y'know it really shows how much the Armatocere respect our strength and like us with how much they wanted this alliance if they did this in the situation it arose from.

Y'know, having most of our worlds and production centers being under simultaneous attack by several different factions, a good portion of our fleet and one of our most powerful ships and our leader dealing with a single unknown opponent attacking them.

Voidknight Jareth cackles in delight as he and a pair of Disciples tear open the side of a Light Cruiser sending debris and Osjiic soldiers jettisoned into space as the atmosphere is vented. Around them the wreckage of both Osjiic and Necrotic ships drift or erupt with delayed explosions.

Boarding ships latch onto bulky craft with harpoons as boarding pods are launched, thermal drill bits burrowing through bulkheads and unleashing hordes of Reconstructed. There were a few unlucky Osjiic ships that instead of Reconstructed emerging from the boarding pods are subject to a tide of rippling, biting flesh as Devouring Swarms were unleashed into their corridors. The worm-like constructs squirming over one another in teeming masses as they swarmed over screaming Osjiic and chewed through doors and walls or dropping from ventilation shafts to burrow their way through flesh and armor.

The Osjiic were fierce in their fighting, several of their Corvettes detonating their Void Drives in violent explosions of void energy and violent gravitational fluctuations that take out their attackers along with them.

It was the arrival of another pair of Deathshead Guardian fighters that lured the attention of the Voidknights, Lorgul and his Disciples launching into battle with them. One of the Void-Terrors was shot down, the Disciple rescued by a brave Coffin that nearly gets shot down as well as it was riddled with bulletfire. Yet Revenant Lorgul and his Desciples manage to drive off one of the fighters and cripple the other.

When the crippled fighter tried to launch their Void-Nova bomb it was quickly shot down by the Void-Terrors before it could detonate, their combined might overwhelming the void deflectors before it could ignite the Void infused warhead fully, the explosion only destroying a Corvette and Frigate that had moved in to assist.

The Charnel Vault's shields stand firm under the onslaught of the attacks, it's own weapons carving a path through the Osjiic fleet for the rest of the Necrotic Ships to flood in to attack the Osjiic forces. Dropships attempted to break through the blockage surrounding the planet but they are shot out of the air by the anti-air systems, missiles and flensers filling the evening air with light and explosions.

The Voidsinger Commander stands ready with his Necrolytes to defend Iti'a'Ropku, the citizenry given weapons from their armory in the off chance they were invaded by ground forces. He looks overhead as flights of Drakes patrol the skies with Nails, ready to strike down any would-be invaders.

The Daggers watch from a distance as the battles continue. Nekris sighs in boredom from the command seat of his Battlecruiser as he keeps watch over the Netu but Dominator Valresko contacts him, requesting his aid in overrunning the Osjiic command ships. The Predator eagerly turning a portion of his defensive fleet away from their positions to launch themselves into battle against the Osjiic fleet from the flanks.

Necrotic and Osjiic ships tear each other to pieces, the skies above Horizon's Drop flashing with explosions and flashes of volatile energy. Within the atmosphere of the world Drakes and Nails attack descending Dropships, the great serpentine beasts latching onto the ships with the great claws and raking them with blasts of lightning they unleash from their maws to rip them out of the sky.

A pair of Frigates manage to punch through the blockade but they are shot at in the upper atmosphere, damaging them and forcing the ships to make emergency landings in the hills leading up to the mountain ranges. Osjiic troops rapidly deploy from the smoking ships to set up a perimeter with ready-made deployable pallisades as repair drones attempt to fix the ships engines.

They are quickly under attack at range by Crawlers launching explosive rounds from their massive Spinecaster cannons as Brutes marches steadily across the ground with Requiems floating behind them. Bullets and rpg shells are launched by the telekinetic Reconstructed snatch the rounds out of the air or deflect them harmlessly, lifting boulders as shields. Brute bellow as they suddenly charge into the hail of gunfire, the auxiliary guns of the down ships turned on them as well but they crash through the walls and unleash their weapons against them as swarms of Talons flood in around them or scale the walls to tear into the unfortunate Osjiic.

A single Voidsinger stands against the tides of Reconstructed, their Voidhammer exploding with each strike to send Talons flailing back. They give a shout and whirl to strike at the enemy behind them only to grunt as the Brute kicks them square in the chest with the sound of crunching armor and bone that sends the eight foot tall humanoid sailing over the palisade and into the waiting arms of the Talon swarm.

The Osjiic fought fiercely in orbit, their shouts proclaiming themselves the chosen of the Emperor even as they were struck down. They held their own against the Necrotic fleet despite the overwhelming number of enemies. Unfortunately for them with Predator Nekris' launching his forces into battle they began to lose ground and ships faster.

The swift Battlecruiser moves alongside a Destroyer, missiles and turrets turning to fire broadside into hull of the ship to explosive results. Nekris sets his sights on the Battleship looming before them, a floating fortress of impressive shields and thick bulkheads that shot down encroaching small craft.

Oh, I misunderstood you. If you take best of 3 from columns, then each player rolls for every action, but if you take best of 3 from each 3d100, then one player rolls for one action, in whatever order they are presented. It's not that much of a difference, but with others things equal, that makes every roll important and not set in the stone, which makes for a cool saves, when the third roll ends up being something like 97, 93, 100.

Necrotic ships burn their engines bright as the rush for the capitol ships attempting to flee. The Battlecruiser contain Nekris rushing alongside the fleeing Battleship, launching it's acid-drops at its thrusters when it's shield falters under the assault of its turrets and the Void-Terrors. Boarding ships descend on the Capitols as their shields and engines are disabled one by one, halting the craft in place. Boarding pods and grapnels are fired and Coffins are send packed with troops to tear their way through the hulls.

All that remained of the Osjiic fleet was quickly being mopped up by swarming fighters and gunships, their hulls vented and engines shattered. Several are overrun by Reconstructed, the prisoners gathered and secured as the injured undead snatch floating bits of gore and corpses in a ghastly cannibalistic feeding frenzy to heal themselves. Among the victorious undead they begin to paint themselves with the black blood of Osjiic soldiers, palm-prints marking eyeless faces or chests. Stripes and splashes marring the Reconstructed as the Deep Rot takes a moment to watch with surprise at their acts of celebration and decoration in the short lull after a successful boarding before they are redirected to assist elsewhere.

Nekris boards the Battleship with a pack of Stalkers and the Alpha, swords made from the blades of the Ahkam held in his grasp as he rushed to meet the Osjiic in battle. His movements supernaturally sped up he dodges the swings and thrusts of bayonets, flashes of Arc light tracing his teleporting blinks as he dodges weaponsfire to close the distance between him and the gray skinned defenders. Stalkers leaping and bounding in the low gravity to drag down Osjiic injured by their master or the Stingers flooding the halls.

Elsewhere Lorgul and a pair of Disciples move down a hall projecting barriers of twisting void-light consuming the metal slugs fired at them from Osjiic falling back. Dirges float with them, telekinetic barriers protecting the Stingers and Trolls marching behind them. A pair of Voidsingers dart out from side passages, each with voidhammer in one hand and a sphere of violently pulsated Void energy in the other that they launch toward the center of the traveling group. One manages to strike a group of Stingers, tossing them like leaves in the wind with the attack on their gravity but the other is absorbed by the void attuned Glutton Spheres at the core of the Dirges. Telekinetically grabbing the startled Voidsingers they fling them toward the Disciples who turn and casually lift up their Reaver Staves for the Osjiic to be impaled and drained with a rush of Void might.

Reconstructed fight their way through the halls and corridors of the ships but the Osjiic make them pay for every blood inch. Lorgul and his Disciples batter down a sealed doorway into the main bridge of the bridge only to watch Nekris go spinning through the air from a blast from the Void-Repeater in the hands of the cyborg-limbed Osjiic. The Predator manages to flip in mid-air to rebound off the wall and join the Voidknights. Patting at the smoking wound in his chest from the blast he glances at Lorgul with one of his four eyes, mandibles curling into a cruel smile as they face down their last obstacle.

The Osjiic standing before them was taller than Estkri had been, both arms clearly mechanized prosthetics with several barrels spaced around the hands, a small pilot light illuminating one of the fists clenched around the handles of the Void-Repeater. By his sides stood two Deathshead Guardians, shields and Voidhammers held at the ready as they stare down the invaders. Scattered around and hunkered behind consoles were Osjiic pilots and navigators but they each possessed one of the standard Osjiic rifles, awaiting the order to attack.

Snorting in derision the Osjiic glares at the undead with steel gray eyes, metal teeth glinting in the flashing emergency lights, "You will die by my hands, Abominations but before you meet your true death you will reveal what you have done with Sub-Admiral Estkri and the other officers that have disappeared in this sector!" he shouts as his weapon spins up. The Guardians lift their shields, void flames engulfing their hammers and leaking from their visors.

The tricky bit about it is the fact that we can't turn people with any sort of elemental talent, which means we can't garuntee Jor's survival if he undergoes the process. And considering just how valuable a leader he has proven himself to be today I'd be reluctant to risk that.

What I'm eager to use the immortalization process for is taking a bunch of willing attendants and recreating them in form that mirrors an ideal living form of their own species. Proudly adorn their skin with Marks not unlike the one we bestowed upon young david, upon a form that would make the living envious. We could use these immortals as our principle intermediaries with the living, and have them on hand when we interact with other factions.

What I'm talking about are babes. And dudes too, for that matter, but impossibly sexy undead that accompany Jadyk whenever he deals with the living, clad in little more than a hooded cloak and a loincloth/sarong. Everybody will be given confused boners and think Jadyk is the most pimpin' skeleton in the galaxy, but he's totally oblivious to the appeal to mortals. He just wanted to show off his advanced reconstruction techniques and the fitness it imparts, and never realizes everyone wants to fuck his attendants.

WHOOPS that's a very big thing I missed in the Immortal information. Necromancers do not suffer the risks associated with converting an elemental user like a Voidsinger/Solar user/Arc user. In fact Necromancers, if they keep up their intake of power and increase their skills accordingly, can start a slow but thorough transformation into an undead without the need of the Immortal procedure.

I've been thinking on our name.
The new necrotic armada
I don't think it fits us. Necrotic is only a part of our power, all but one of our allies use another power, the living are just as if not more important than the dead, and it does not quite fit our new philosophy.

I don't know if it's too late to change our name seeing as we have proclaimed it to the world, and I'm not sure if what we should call ourselves although Equilibrium comes to mind.
>>
>>46730165
I don't know I like the name Umbra but that would be more fitting for a location that anything else.

But the new necrotic armada dose fit a lot of aspects of us like how almost everything is built by cauldron. But our new way of thinking dosnt fit the name

New Necrotic Armada is a reference to our origins, not the element we use. It's to show that we're carrying on the legacy of the Wormstar and the old Necrotic Armada. We really have no need to change it desu
>>
>>46730499
But the old armada hated the living and wanted the entire universe to be undead.
We now know that that was a surrender to entropy, our basic operating premise is different. And with a name like that we may turn away potential allies and even worse draw in the wrong kind.

What if we find an old armada buddy and they don't like our new stile. They would make a bitter enemie, the wraith is a good enough example of that.

I don't know. Maybe we should call our collection of forces and allies by a different name, we are the new necrotic armada but us and our union of allies might go under a different name

I only found out about Ghoul Civ when thread 1 of DAtS came about; although I went back and binged most of the archives immediately.
>>
>>46733226
I have. I really miss it actually.

I know Jyoti was having issues with attendance, but I wonder if he started of Ghoul Civ with a Season Two rebranding, if it might help. I mainly think the Civ name is what is hurting him. Civs have a reputation for disappearing after all.

So if he renamed it Red-Throat Ghoul Quest Season Two or something like that and had some time pass, consolidate things a bit and maybe streamline some stuff, I think he'd get much better attendance.
>>
>>46733441
But, I do get why he'd just want to drop it, as much as it sucks.

Alright let's get this going again.

Thats reassuring. I'm actually the one who has off and on been saying that you should change the name from Civ to Quest. It just really seems to make a big difference in attendance. Also, you have a much more narrative structure than most civs anyway.

I have an idea for a new kind of Crit crawl, ship, thinktank creature

First we need Crit crawl like things that can use the void to create short but strong gravity wells, it will also help if it can move around a lot faster and better that a normal Crit crawl.

Then we need a specialized think tank that can run calculations fast

The idea is that one of our ships surrounded by void Crit crawls gets In between two enemy ships
The enemy ships fire on our ship, the think tank calculates stuff and has the void Crit crawls fire off to make the enemy attacks miss our ship and hit the enemy ship on the other side.

This works best against enemy's that use ballistic attacks
>>
>>46735031
Could we potentially infuse terrordromes with void and make them capable of generating a gravitational field far higher than something their size should? I feel like that would be something another anon could weaponise very easily
>>
>>46735031
>>46735065
Actually we could make it a passive (and probably expensive) upgrade to our ships.

What you would need is to have parts of the outside of the ship coverd in nodes of void...something. The nodes would fire off gravitational push or pull to slingshot balistic attacks back at the attackers.

It would help if we had some kind of void infused tractor beam. That way we can have the void nodes shoot out beams of void push or pull to make the systems work at a longer range.

Such a thing would probably need to replace the shields at first but later research would also it to work with the shields
>>
Now that we are basically full allies with the plant people we should soon propose a full trade of tech. All of our tech and all of theres.
Maybe not right away but soon

Also what became of that captured void guy from the last battle that hid on the planet for a bit and we for him completely unresponsive...
Please tell me he got reconstructed because if he is still alive I feel bad things coming
>>
>>46735629
We could always go with that research planet idea, staffed by our researchers and theirs and guarded by a combined force of both our forces
>>
>>46735629
Wait... Our voidknight the one who just recently took his domination thing out...
Oh fuck
Guys! What if the Ojisc void used can communicate through the void!
This would probably be a recent discovery otherwise we would know about it.
What if the unresponsive deathhead void guy was actually just communicating with the rest of the Ojisc and telling them as much as he can about us and how much of a threat we are

What if our void knight took his domination thing out so we couldn't read his thoughts because he is hearing the void communications and is considering switching sides or something.

And what if none of this was the case but I might be now because I gave grave the idea

The two forces stare at each other in a tense stand-off, weapons charging and voidflames rippling off several of the attendant undead. Yet it was the one crackling with Arc energy that acts first, one moment he is standing there next to Lorgul and the Voidknight Disciples but in a flash of light and a taste of ozone he is suddenly across the bridge carving into backs of unsuspecting Osjiic the next moment after he blinked across the bridge.

The screams of the dying Osjiic gurgled as black blood welled up in their throats and triggered the hostilities into full swing. Voidblasts are flung across the short distance and deflected with glimmering shields, shattering nearby consoles and chairs. Revenant Lorgul charges across with a shout, his great bladed maul swung overhead in both hands only to strike a crater in the metal where the ships commander had been a split moment before. An advanced Jump-pack lets him dash back, firing off a blast of energy from his weapon.

Deathshead Guardians dash forward to strike at the Voidknight but they are quickly intercepted by the pair of Disciples, their Reaver Hammers blocking the blows and pushing them back. Flames flared violently between the clashing undead as they exchanged blows, ripples of energy warping the metal of the bridge around them. Blocking strikes with their great shields the Guardians swing their hammers that the Disciples turn away or endure the strikes but they would retaliate fiercely in response.

Both sides attempted to blast each other with Voidflames jetting from their armor but the combatants were all powered by the very stuff, each a version of the process of reanimation through infusion of Void energies. Both orders were created from the remains of a long dead order, one orthodox and resurrectionist, the other a corruption of a slain demigod.

Lorgul was torn between helping his Disciples in battle against the Guardians or pursuing the ship commander as they took up firing position to shoot at both him and the Disciples. Glancing at his Disciples only to get a blast of Void energy to the gut for his concern he snarls and charges the commander

Seeing his Repeater did very little damage even with a direct hit he tosses it aside and aims one of his mechanical arms at the charge undead. His hand snaps down and several barrels extend, one of the thicker launching a shell that explodes against Lorguls shoulder spinning him. It doesn't slow him though, using the motion of the spin to swing his maul around with unnatural speed but the Osjiic dodges the blow once more. The strike splinters a console to pieces but the Revenant pursues even as another barrel sprays a colorless gas at the undead before a spark ignites the gas into a ball of thermobaric fire, the shockwave scorching and knocking over several of the Osjiic soldiers still remaining.

Nekris moves among the Osjiic, his blades flashing with blue light through flesh and armor, sprays of black blood splattering his hide rippling with dazzling color to throw off their aim. His cackling chill the unfortunate soldiers, a pair of shardspitters in his minor limbs spraying energized flechettes into the faces and backs of the Osjiic as his blades open throats and remove limbs from bodies. He lived up to his title, a predator among his prey and he was exhilarated.

The ships commander proved to be a slippery foe, his jump-pack allowing him to remain just out of Lorguls reach as he swung and dashed after him all while unleashing the full fury of his weaponized prosthetics. Even his legs held thermal blades he tried to kick at Lorguls skull, his kneecap even sliding back to launch another explosive shell. This only served to enrage the Voidknight and he finally broke one of his rules about combat.

As the ship commander, likely an Admiral, dashes back on a ripple of void light Lorgul thrusts his hand out with a shout of, "Enough!" and the Osjiic is arrested solidly in the air much to his confusion. Wrenching his arm back he flings the living Osjiic into one of the undead, knocking both to the ground.

This distracted the remaining Guardian long enough for both Disciples to turn their fury upon it. It desperately tried to defend against the combined onslaught but the Disciples fought in sync with each other. A bold strike leaves one exposed and the Guardian attempts to take advantage but the Disciples expected that move, both suddenly reversing their grip on their Reaver Hammer to drive the spear-like tips through its armor. They shout as they force the undead to the ground, Voidflame engulfing all three as they struggled to drain the powerful energies from the undead.

As the Guardian died the Admiral and the remaining Deathshead struggle to their feet but they are quickly overrun by the two Generals. Nekris grabs the Admiral in his telekinetic grasp and yanks him across the bridge, flashes of Arc light illuminating him as he rebounds off the walls to attack the sailing Osjiic. His blades slice through metal, removing cybernetic limbs or hamstringing them. Finally the Osjiic lands with a grunt, Nekris standing with a taloned foot on his chest and blades at his throat.

Lorgul shoulder-charged the Guardian with a ripple of voidlight at the collision that sends the undead flying the other direction of the Admiral. Voidflames surge off him as he flies after, his Maul dropped behind him as he launches to grapple with the undead. Metal creaks and warps from the gravitational anomalies their conflict causes, heavy blows exchanged the crack and warp thick armor. Lorguls fist collides with the bare skull of the Deathshead, only for his other hand to snatch him by the spine from behind. Pressing his boot into the lower back he pulls back on the neck and spine of the suddenly flailing undead until there is a resounding crack as he snaps its spine. The Osjiic undead bent at an obscene angle the wrong way is dropped and unmoving, not truly dead but crippled for the moment.

the wording
>he is suddenly across the bridge... after he blinked across the bridge
>>
>>46736526
We can presume that the bridge of a space bourne capitol ship is massively huge, the entirety of this fight is confined to it. The wording does a fine job of illustrating an image of Nekris blinking about constantly within it, for me at least.

>>46736589
its repetitive wording anon
he has trouble with it in other places as well

just something he should keep an eye out for

Eh, I wouldn't really call it bitchy. But even if he did I don't really care all that much. This quest has a lot of Civ elements, just as much as Ghouls did, and I don't remember anyone complaining about it being "Quest" instead of "Civ." It also worked out super well for Hive Queen Quest.

Civs just have a bad rap for being generally shitty and abandoned often.

>Void-powered Gravity Well generators. They would be able to trick Skip Drive enabled ships to jumping in close to them or deflecting missiles and the like.
