The list ended up shorter than I thought

CORRECTION: you only have 5 Destiny, I looked at a wrong line

You can spend up to 3 to get some of the following traits:

THIEF
Dextrous - re-roll 1s on Agility
Face in the Crowd - much easier to Blend In
Furtive - harder to fail Sneaking

GODDAMN BATMAN
Sinister - You scary, man
Lucky - re-roll 1 test a day
Night Eyes - see better in darkness
Fast - move faster

FIGHTAN
Short Blade Fighter I - Piercing 1 on attacks
Weapon Mastery - +1 damage on attacks

SOCIAL
Attractive - Re-roll 1s on Persuasion
Favored of Smallfolk - common folk likes you

Our starting value is 8 gold dragons. Or 1680 silver stags. We have to spend at least half of it on our equipment.

Free stuff:
Common clothes
Shoes or boots
Dagger

I think we should get:
Castleforged dirk (40 stags)
Locksmith's tools (500 stags)
Iron spikes (might as well be free)
Maybe some sort of armor (leather? soft for 300 stags, hard for 400)

Any other ideas for me to look up?

You wake up, your head feeling like your trueborn sisters have been dancing in it. Holding back the urge to retch, you step out of the stables and try and walk towards the tavern. Mathilda there knows that you have been drinking a bit more than your income suggests. Of course she doesn't exactly know you have been dipping into your Lord Grandfather's treasury.

For the Tavernkeeper and her wife, you are just a pleasant traveller who has some features that the Lord Gauthier has, but on a far more homely face. Your face is not quite heart shaped like the sons and daughters of house Gauthier are famous for, all over Westeros. Your hair is

>pick Hair color

Hah, a real human bean. I had given up on it.

Your hair is an auburn mop that you have been trying to keep short due to it's help in your more, uh professional matters as you like to say to the people who have been asking you. At least you had the right idea to cut your hair, shedding those locks. You have seen the daughters and granddaughters of Lord Gauthier ride into and out of the castle, and their hair is the same as your own. Some of them have the same eyes as you do too. In shape if not in color. The witch had been right. This is your home. It is a good place to lay low and start the quest to find what happened to your mother and father.

You ask Mathilde for some water, making sure not to drink too much too fast. It should help with the hangovers soon enough. You are no stranger to drinking.

Feeling a little better you take a look at the tavern. Harrod and Mathilda have been running this place for quite some time. And taverns are the ideal place for gossip.

You see two guards who are off duty talk to each other, a little bit more loudly than they think they are talking. They must have been the people on the new night shift. Anything they might spill now will help you on your nocturnal adventures but being caught eavesdropping might raise a few questions.

You edge forward just a little, and can hear the guards talking as if they were talking to you.
"I doesn't like this shift Lorry, my head hurts" The one with the sandy hair says
"Neither do I Lum, all the good whores go to bed at this time, only fat Walda is there, and her brother will run us down if he sees us trying to honey er up." The one with black hair says.

They spend a few more minutes talking about the quality of whores during daytime and complaining about the ale. If they were not talking so loudly, you would have tried to actively block them. It was challenging NOT to listen to these oafs.
Suddenly Lum's voice drops low, the change making you attentive.

"Yer got the cash the sneak's paid us?"

"Yes, its hidden behind the sept in Graeme's pit, I kept it hidden in me secret strongbox. Its got enough to buy us all the drinks in the tavern and all the girls at the whorehouse."

More money. It never hurts. You make a mental note to pay the pit a visit when you try and honor the dead the next time. You wonder what sort of man would pay two night watchmen a decent sum of money.

"So he be wanting us to wave in those carts right?" Lorry asks the question you were wondering.
"Aye lorry, and no I don't know whats in them and I doesn't care. We makes good money that way. No need to go piss all over it. Another cart's comin tonight, this one might have some person in it. I watch the door, and you secure the silver"

The other man nods.

Suddenly you have found your activity for the night.

Recap time

House Gauthier of Riverlands
Motto: "With a soft hand"
Coat of Arms: white glove on an auburn field

We're a house in Riverlands, famed for its gallant men and gorgeous women. Not the most warlike but doing well.
Auburn hair and lovely faces are common among our people. Our women are known to be quite fertile.

Defense 27 (7 unused)
We have as yet unnamed Hall. It grants its defenders 4 to defense and can host up to two units

Influence 32 (2 unused)
We have our firstborn son and heir and a firstborn daughter. Pretty sure them being both firstborn makes them twins.
There probably are some more kids but they're a bunch of runts as of yet.

Lands 39 (0 unused)
We have two domans (roughly 3 miles across each):
1) Hills overlooking a river (see 2) along River Road (from Harrenhall to Riverrun), holding a small Town (as yet unnamed). Our Hall is located here.
2) Wetlands by a river. It's our primary food source: here are some pastures and here we catch fish.

Law 37
Stable but not without problems.
-1 to House Fortunes rolls

Population 41
That's a lot of people. a little more than is optimal but we have reserves
+1 to House Fortunes rolls

Power 38 (18 unused)
We got a Banner house for 20, on the rest it's less certain but these options were proposed:
1) 1 Veteran Infantry (9), 1 Trained Archers (6), 3 left
2) 1 Trained Cavalry (8), 1 Veteran Cavalry (10), 0 left
3) 1 Veteran Personal Guard* (11), 1 Trained Infantry (7), 0 left

*The justification for Veteran Personal Guard being: it's all those Gauthier men who are far from inheritance but still eager to serve their house and protect their women.

Wealth 30
That's where OP disappeared and we didn't come to any conclusion

>That's where OP disappeared and we didn't come to any conclusion

Not using out of strife, prosperity is where it fell apart. OP didn't seem to have enough knowledge of the system and its supplements to actually put together the House. I'd have gone with Maester(10), Fishery(5), and Valuable Mine(15).
>>
>>46581590
That stuff's from an expansion, right?

Nice plan, though I'm not sure abount the Mines, we'd have to put them in the hills, which already have a bit more in them than is plausible
There were some suggestions in the previous thread about sheep and tailors
Also, it's always wise to leave some money for the future
>>
>>46581697
Yeah it is.

Each domain is allowed a single estate holding, we could put the mines there and it would be fine, from a rules standpoint.
Animal husbandry would be sheep, tailoring I don't know. It's just all the way you fluff it.
You get a monthly house fortunes roll for monetary gains. Burn it all now and set the House up for the first roll.
>>
>>46581590
>>46581697
We could combine it:

Maester (10) {Hall}
Fishery (5) {River}
Animal Husbandry* (10) + Woolworks* (5) {Wetlands}

*Mechanically it's the same as Valuable Mine

Total:
House Fortune Rolls +6 / 1d6
Wealth Gain Bonus: +2
Maester
>>
>>46581993
>>46581932
Okay, I fucked up. River and Wetlands are the same domain...
>>
>>46581993
>>46582051
Maybe throw out the fishery and get a Court? +5 and +6 to House Fortunes isn't actually different and we'll get Influence Loss Mitigation which is kinda our thing
>>
>>46582102
Or even Comfortable Living. This looks pretty nice:
>Members of your House gain +1 to Intrigue Defense and +1B to Endurance checks when healing naturally while in your House’s holdings. House members can procure most goods worth a dragon or less using House funds, credit, or a stipend without using their personal funds
>>
>>46580589
Let's just fininsh this stuff

Vote on the units:
>1) 1 Veteran Infantry (9), 1 Trained Archers (6), 3 left
>2) 1 Trained Cavalry (8), 1 Veteran Cavalry (10), 0 left
>3) 1 Veteran Personal Guard* (11), 1 Trained Infantry (7), 0 left

I vote 3
>>
>>46582391
>3) 1 Veteran Personal Guard* (11), 1 Trained Infantry (7), 0 left
>>
>>46582391
I'm down for 3. The big extended family thing sounds fun.
>>
>>46582408
>>46582391
>>46582615
3 it is then! Jock power activate!

Power 38 (0 unused)
We got a Banner house for 20, to which we'll get around hopefully
Units in the Hall:
1 Veteran Personal Guard* (11)
1 Trained Infantry (7)

Let's sort the Wealth out
Maester seems to be a given (10)
For the rest:
1) Valuable Mine (15), Fishery (5)
House Fortune Rolls +6 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2

2) Animal Husbandry + Woolworks (15), Court (5)
House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2, Influence Loss Mitigation +2

3) Valuable Mine (15), Court (5)
House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2, Influence Loss Mitigation +2

4) Mine (15), Comfortable Living Standards (5)
House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2, Influence Loss Mitigation +2

5) Sheep + Wool (15), Comfortable Living Standards (5)
House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2, Influence Loss Mitigation +2

I vote 5
>>
>>46582672
Fuck me!
For 4 and 5 it's

House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6, Wealth Gain Bonus: +2, +1B healing, +1 Intrigue defense
>>
>>46582672
>5

I like 5) it's a different take on wealth generation in this game and makes more sense than a mine
>>
>>46582672
5 it is a bit different. Makes sense to go less militaristic with the resources.

That said I'd put the animal husbandry in the Wetlands domain, so we at least have the option to build a mine later.
>>
>>46582781
Oh yeah, it's in the Wetlands

>>46582781
>>46582708
>>46582672
Looks pretty unanimous

Wealth 30
We have:
a Maester
Pastures for sheep in the Wetlands and a bunch of spinsters
And our Hall is pretty damn comfortable

Total:
House Fortune Rolls +5 / 1d6
Wealth Gain Bonus: +2
While in our domain, our characters get +1B for natural healing and +1 Intrigue defense
>>
>>46582857
Let's get to the names then.

We have unnamed:
Hall
Town
Head of the House
His wife
His heir
His lil' princess

Any ideas?
>>
>>46582672
Oh and we could also name our Personal Guard.
"Fist of Gauthiers" maybe?
>>
>>46582905
Either that or "Shield of Gaugthiers" considering their role as protectors. I'm happy either way.
>>
>>46582892
Just throwing around some random butchered germanic names:

Karles
Alderick
Adalwin
Eldred
Harwig
Rotrik
>>
>>46582950
I like Rotrik
>>
>>46582966
For who? The Head?

Also, for the Hall we could do something simple, like pick a name for an ancestor of ours and add Hall.
Say, Garold => Garhall
>>
>>46582892
Maybe give the Hall a name somewhat unrelated to the House, like it was the holdfast of a House that got wiped out during Aegon's Conquering and the Gauthiers just never bothered to change it.

Otherwise suggesting:
>Lord Gareth Gauthier
>Lady Cynthea Lannister of Lannsiport
>No idea for a son
>Genna Gauthier

Also suggesting the current Lord is the youngest of four siblings the first three being his sisters
>>
>>46583074
Sounds nice to me.
Maybe use Rotrik (>>46582966) for the Heir
>>
>>46583146
Sure thing, lets do that.
>>
>>46582892
For the town, just mulling around:
Wisperhill
Weirbrook (Disclaimer: no actual Weirs around)
Bleating Bog
Riverpass
Alderford
>>
Arlen Rivers heads the Personal Guard. A bastard brother to the current Lord Gareth Gauthier. Only a few days younger than Gareth but they could be twins and he is often confused for the Lord when they don't know him personally. Completely devoted to protecting his nieces and nephews from any that would harm them. Knighted for gallantry against the Kingswood brotherhood where he slew a man about to strike at his sers back.
>>
>>46583245
Good job man
>>
I have to go for about a day. Sorry fellas.
Keep on trucking, I hope to continue it and maybe even roll up the banner house

Meanwhile, here are the questions the book poses for the Lord and the Lady of the House:

LORD

How old is the lord?
Did he participate in any wars (War of the Ninepenny
Kings, War of the Usurper, or Greyjoy’s Rebellion)?
If so, for whom did he fight?
Did he distinguish himself in these wars?
What is his relationship with his liege?
Does he have any extended family?
What was his relationship with his father?
Does your lord have any rivals or enemies? Any strong
allies?
Did he have bastards?
Did he have any moments of failure or shame?
Did he have any moments of glory or greatness?
How is he perceived in your realm?
What does he look like?
Name one ambition.
Describe one mannerism.
Describe one virtue and one flaw.

LADY

Is she still alive?
How old is she?
From what house does she hail?
Does she have any siblings?
What is her relationship with her kin?
Did she have any moments of failure or shame?
Did she have any moments of greatness or glory?
How is she perceived in the realm?
What does she look like.
Name one ambition.
Describe one mannerism.
Describe one virtue and one flaw.

Sorry I couldn't get around to them in time
>>
>>46583355

>>
Hot diggity-daffodil, you guys took this and ran with it. Well done!

And the Bastard Character to represent the Scandal Event? Fan-fucking-tastic. The hopeless romantic type is very well suited to the kind of image of chivalric romance that House Gauthier portrays (even if the women are more clued on).
>>
>>46583232
I could go for Riverpass.
Having a hell of a time coming up with the name for the Hall though
>>46583074

"With a Soft Hand"

A House famed for the beauty of it's maidens and the watchful eyes of their menfolk, House Gauthier has established itself as a prominent house through generations of prudent marriages and matchmaking. There is not a single house in the Riverlands that has not at some time or another in the last 300 years matched a member of their family with an alluring Lady of Gauthier. The fairness, virtue and allure of these Ladies are known further afield two, with even minor members of great houses having been known to hold them at the object of their affection even when more prudent choices are apparent.

It is not through strength of arms or mighty feats on the battlefield that House Gauthier relies on for political ammunitio, at least rarely so, it is through the widespread system of cousins, aunts, grandmothers that are invariably related to some rival Lord's uncle's cousin's auntie. A heartfelt plea or scornful letter can hold surprising weight when it comes from an in-law. To put it simply, the Gauthier family is not so prolific as the Freys, but they are much better placed. And prettier to boot.

The women of House Gauthier are famed throughout the line. Some have auburn hair that shimmer like firelight in the sun, others have hair black as the fertile soil of their lands. All have full lips, wide hips and vast... tracts of land. In addition to their beauty the maidens of Gauthier espouse the very epitome of womanly virtues. Prudence, Virtue, Humility, Faithfulness. None of the fierceness of Dornish women, except perhaps in private when displeased with their husband or suitor. A good wife is silent...and silent wives overhear many things. Many a love-struck knight has been driven to insane acts in battle or tourney-field in an effort to win their attention, and not a few have ruined themselves in pursuit of them.

As one well known commoner song goes "I gave it all up, for a Gauthier girl."

Well done, this banner house was founded following a superb victory on the battlefield. Perhaps a distant Gauthier cousin successfully crushing a Blackfyre loyalist? Perhaps lands rewarded for feats on the battlefield.

The Banner House is young enough that all this could have occurred with a couple of generations, or indeed even one. Congratulations guys, you have a crazy vassal that used to be badass.

>VICTORY
Founded through a glorious battle, the founders of this house smashed aside the opposition, perhaps at House Gauthier's behest, driven to it by a slighted doe-eyed maiden? Or perhaps the leader of the force was a minor member of the Gauthier family and his family granted him these lands in gratitude?

>Infrastructure
Our new vassal went about repairing the damage of the previous conflict? Building... buildings? Carving out arable lands? Replenishing his forces and coffers?

>MADNESS
The current Lord of the Banner House is now mad. Driven to it by grief, maybe over a dead Gauthier bride? Maybe he has shut himself away in his hold, talking to no one as his lands dilapidate.

Is this the same man who earned these lands through victory, now mad in old age? Is it an immediate descendant that was always touched?

Total resources, apart from wealth our bannermen are nowhere near our level.

Defence: 19
Influence: 27
Lands: 25
Law: 16
Population: 19
Power: 11
Wealth: 29

On the bright side, a mad vassal ensures any quest at least won't be dull!

I don't think Maester get titles other than Measter. As for where this is going? I doubt I'd be running this quest as I have full-time commitments to the real world. It is tempting though.
>>
Yes, Maester.

Since he is mad, may i suggest:
Veteran Guerilla: 5x2
Green criminals: 1x1

total: 11,no left power
>>
>>46584062
>>46584275

Lands (0/25)
>Wetlands
>Hamlet
>Road
>Lake

How does that sound, eh?
>>
>>46584481
The lord would likely have some standing troops from before he went mad/before his mad son took over and guerilla's aren't all that useful. I'd suggest Veteran Infantry and your Green Criminals, leaving us with 0 power left.
>>
>>46585440
Sounds excellent!
>>46584414
As for our wealth expenditure, I guess a town house in our town makes sense to start with?
>>
>>46585506
I can agree with that. Town house sounds good.
>>
Don't forget it's entirely possible to transfer stats over. Wealth goes 1:1 for any stat, others go 2:1.

So if you have a bunch of influence you don't really need (given these are your vassals they probably don't) or defence that simply won't be used you might consider transferring it to Power or Law.
>>
>>46585443
bumpo

would you care explain why guerilla not so useful compare to infantry?
>>
>>46585976
>>46585976
Not that guy but IIRC guerillas can't stand up to infantry on an open field. They are more about hit and run tactics and sabotage. I feel it wouldn't make thematic sense to have 0 infantry and a unit of guerillas for a lord.
>>
>>46586335
but we only have 11 power
>>
>>46587145
So veteran infantry and green criminals which makes sense for a house built on victory thats fallen to madness. That way they have a standing military which is what you want a banner house for.
>>
>>46587306
how to calculate power?
veteran infantry: 5x4 or 5+4?
>>
>>46587332
It's 5+4 for the veteran infantry and 1+1 for the green criminals which will, together, use up all the power our banerlord has.
>>
>>46587396
thx, i agree with the previous explanation where the bannerlord won the war and then become mad, growing his band of suicide squad consisting of freed criminals
>>
>>46585592
Transferring over 2 Influence to 1 Defence to buy a castle seems useful, as we're going to be relying on these guys to protect our beautiful asses. For reference, could you post the Defence chart?
>>46585976
It's like >>46586335 said, they get murdered by infantry in a straight fight, and it'd make little sense for a bannerhouse to have only guerillas when they're supposed to be protecting us.
>>
>>46587396
>>46587426
I think we should convert some of the influence the bannerhouse has to power as well. Its 1:1 Influence:Power so if we bring Influence down from 27 to 19 that gives us 19 more power, enough for a unit of veteran archers.

So in total we would have

1 Unit Veteran Infantry
1 Unit Veteran Archers
1 Unit Green Criminals
>>
>>46587550
8 more power*

Typo

thx teach, i am fine with >>46587550

Is this Bastard Quest or something?
>>
>>46587767
not if we cant devise a plot where the house destiny depends on Elmo Rivers, the Blackglove
>>
>>46587782
Plot should be him going all Kind Hearts and Coronets.
>>
>>46587807
I was planning on him getting close to his grandpappy when I took on the trip, but my house caught fire.
>>
bumpy bumpily bup
>>
so what do we do with this info?
>>
>>46588733
Likely nothing, unless someone comes along that wants to run a quest for the House. It looks like people are into the idea, but no one has stepped forward with the want or time.

Hell we'd still need to stat the Lord or whomever we'd be using as the MC. We don't even have an era we'd be running in, or the historical events laid out.
>>
>>46588877
can't we use the bastard?
he seems statted out.
post RR seems to be a neat place too.
>>
>>46588877
Year before Arryn starts the rebellion.
>>
>>46589084
a quest where Elmo rivers keeps his house alive and his sister's unraped by being an edgy anime character.
