Fuck it, all this Game of Thrones hype has got me itching for a House Creation Thread.

Give me 3d6 for Realm.

I'm not sure if you mean literally or figuratively. Being too much in favour with the Targs leading up to Robert's Rebellion would burn them a little.

Also how much our Lord loved our daughter, and how much the daughter loved the child. Completely unsaleable for political marriage now of course.

A justification for the frankly ridiculous level of military power you have could be the horde of knights flocking to your land in a bid to win their favour? Otherwise I would strongly recommend you establish a Bannerhouse for 20 of those points. It's the same deal as rolling a regular house but with 5d6 instead of 7.
If I might recommend some inspiration for the coat of arms? Something with a maiden or beauty on the front, perhaps with the swordarm removed.

We'll move on to Defences now.

With 27 you haven't enough for a castle (unless you trade wealth 1-for-1 or any other resources 2-for-1).

That leaves you with either a Hall(20) or a Tower or two (10).

>>46558177
Down the bottom, a rough idea.
>>
>>46558092

A rose with steel thorns for the banner perhaps?
>>
>>46558223
Doesn't look like we have much Wealth to spend on anything...
What's the difference between Halls and Towers?
>>
>>46558223
A hall seems fine to me, unless anyone objects?
>>
>>46558223
We'll keep the hall, and spend the excess defense points to increase our wealth to 31 and lands to 41.
>>
>>46558262
A Tower is everything it says on the tin. If it's the seat of your house it might be a bit more spacious or well-maintained than most.

A hall is more like pic related, and likely to be surrounded by a wall and moat. Not Castle-height walls, and it could even be a wooden pallisade depending on where you are. But your capacity to host guests and retainers is much improved.
>>
>>46558324

>>46558441
>>46558447
I meant "join the club" in the sense of "it makes sense for us to be like other houses of the region"
>>
>>46558212
Alright, so we've hammered out a basic idea of our family history. Most of our wealth, power and lands is a result of us taking full advantage of the stunning beauty of our House's daughters.

The lengths knights would go to for a glance or favour from these dames astounds some. The things Lords do and promise to do for the promise of their hand is the main reason you stand where you are now. Not through might of arms, hidden riches or glory on distant battlefields... but through the beauty, prudence and courtship skills the Ladies of your house display at every turn. Apart from a few examples not talked of in polite company...

>>46558212
Our women are the paragons of the Westerosi ideals surrounding women. None of that fire-blooded Dornish temperance, the Ladies of our house are every bit the demure, charming maidens of chivalric legend. But the Ladies are not stupid, they wield the power of their favour, disfavour and attentions with every bit of skill and intent as a blade. With a glance they can send a mighty warrior fawning for their affections, with a hurt look they can set two suitors against one another into a murderous
rage. They know how to use their famed beauty and charm to inspire the best (and worst) in men.

It helps that they are notoriously fertile. Our house is distantly related to... damn near everyone in the Riverlands and plenty further afield. Oh and the tracts of land, man.

Lady Blackwood, who stood defiant holding the family banner above walls of Blackwood Hall. The men took heart from her silent contempt of the foe and the Blackwoods prevailed that day.

Oops, famous Ladies of the House include:

Lady Mauren Blackwood

Lady Therese Riverrun: Mostly famous because she enamored the heir to Riverrun, he turned aside more politically wise matches for her.

Lady Dianne Maidenpool. It was said that knights would fight, sometimes to the death, at the drop of her hankerchief.

Lady Illys Seagard. No less than 5 landed knights and sons of nobility died in the 202AL Riverrun Tournament in her name. On top of that 17 men are said to have died in a brawl on the final days of the melee. Some whisper the Lady encouraged such unrest with glee...

Lady Maryanne Osprey. Took her own life during an Ironborn raid, it's makes a song all the Riverlands know.

It makes perfect sense of the House to be dominated by the women like the Tyrells are. But it couldn't be a full Matriarchy as that would lend itself to Dornish traditions.

>>46558573

Alrighty, let's say the town overlooks a crossing along a the River Road betwixt Harrenhall and Rivverun, hence well situated for trade.

The surrounding lands beyond the hill are not particularly useful, the reason why there is a crossing at all here is because the hill forces the river to turn off some and flood into the surrounding wetlands.

It is not from these paltry holding that House Gauthier derives its wealth and power, it is the town and the trade that flows from the countryside to it on the way to Riverrun.

Alright, that's spend that Influence.

A firstborn costs 20 influence, a second-born son or firstborn daughter after that is 10, then an extra 5 for every child after that.

This isn't to say that we haven't got 7 children or something, the influence just represents who is of age, single and ready to mingle.

On to POWER!

What host defends the walls of Gauthier Hall and our fair town? Who are the men that protect the honour of our maidens?

You guys have actually got a very large amount of power. I recommend putting half of it (20) into the creation of a loyal banner house given the political nature of your history. Also gives you a good piece of muscle where you don't want the Gauthier name attached to certain actions.

Hello
>>
hi there.

>>
>>46558789
Where the women are pretty. The men are handsome, they may not be as large or as ferocious as men from other houses, often compared to swords they are well proportioned and graceful but not of any particular note for size, like their women of their house they possess a keen intellect.

Though not cowards by any means - Our house prefers to not fight at all favoring diplomacy and tact, when forced into a fight we strive to dismantle our opponents in a methodical manner.
>>
>>46559348
>38 points

Banner house (20)
Trained Cavalry (8)
Veteran Cavalry (10)

Banners can provide the rest of our troops.
>>
While Maester is gone, we could figure out the names for our Hall and our town
>>
>>46559553
Maybe a "mine" in the wetlands? Iron or gold

Or screw the mine and have something like
Maester (10) - always good to have
Marketplace (10) - we're a trading house
Artisan (10) - guild might've been better but we don't have the stats for one
>>
>>46560536
Alternatively,
Guild (15) - good tailors are handy when you weaponize attractiveness. Also, given our animal farming, there should be plenty of good wool
Marketplace (10) - trading

5 left
Depending on how stuff works in the game, it should give us some headstart for purchasing a maester
>>
>>46559348
Guys, for power, Veteran (or Elite) Personal Guard composed of the family's various cousin's and misc male relatives. All the handsome, tanned rugby players mentioned here>>46558789

Personal guard
>Are incredibly powerful in battle when armoured up
>Give a role to the many MANY family members not in the line of inheritance
>Are useful on the battlefield, in small special ops skirmishes and in even smaller one-on-one bodyguard scenarios and the like
>We need bodyguards to escort all our beautiful women
>And I'm pretty amused by the idea of our personal guard being some strange cross between tanned chiselled-jawed frat brothers and Marshall's Midwestern brothers from HIMYM

Elite personal guards have been incredibly useful in the previous campaigns too.

>They're not the audience I'd like to have, and I definitely can't give the sort of entertainment they want. So consider the quest dead.

Although to his credit he posted again like a year or two later apologizing and admitting he was throwing a tantrum but never picked up the quest again.

The most rage inducing part of this is that the shitposters from /qtg/ never really meddled in his threads. It was a really fun and interesting quest that he bailed out on. Man, I am still really salty about it.

>>46560983
While it's a good idea, we only have 38 power to spend

You can get up to 6 ranks of specialties. You can't get more ranks of specialties then the basic ability has

Agility: Acrobatics, Balance, Contortions, Dodge, Quickness
Animal Handling: Charm, Drive, Ride, Train
Athletics: Climb, Jump, Run, Strength, Swim, Throw
Fighting: Axes, Bludgeons, Brawling, Fencing, Long Blades, Pole-Arms, Shields, Short Blades, Spears
Stealth: Blend In, Sneak
Will: Courage, Coordinate, Dedication

Okay then

Next part is Destiny Points and Benefits, but the list's so large it may take a few hours. I'll cut it a bit shorter

You have 7 Destiny Points. Up to 3 of them could be spent on permament upgrades.
I'll give a truncated list in the next post

The list ended up shorter than I thought

CORRECTION: you only have 5 Destiny, I looked at a wrong line

You can spend up to 3 to get some of the following traits:

THIEF
Dextrous - re-roll 1s on Agility
Face in the Crowd - much easier to Blend In
Furtive - harder to fail Sneaking

GODDAMN BATMAN
Sinister - You scary, man
Lucky - re-roll 1 test a day
Night Eyes - see better in darkness
Fast - move faster

FIGHTAN
Short Blade Fighter I - Piercing 1 on attacks
Weapon Mastery - +1 damage on attacks

SOCIAL
Attractive - Re-roll 1s on Persuasion
Favored of Smallfolk - common folk likes you
