>Introduction:

Your world is upside-down right now. Literally. To the cheers of thousands, you're on the wrong side of a painful submission hold in the Semi-Finals of the biggest "Friday Night Real Bout" you've seen yet. Everything's getting a little dizzy, too, from the fact that your legs and torso are stretched back like a pretzel while your overly-large opponent is sitting on the ground with a leg up for leverage.

The first two fights of the night were easy enough; Some Chinese Kung-Fu dude folded like a origami crane and while that college professor was strong, he was slow and easily beaten by your relentless speed and offense. Hell, you were starting to think that it was easy; That 6 months off just training with the rest of class preserved your fundamental skills.

"Tsunami Tsuyako", on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish and certainly strong enough to carry the whole "Schoolgirl delinquent straight out of the 1970's" gimmick she's got going for her... Though her padded singlet, thick kneepads, shin guards and her boots you can spot from peeking up her long skirt explain how she's toughed out your attacks so far and dished out damage back to you in spades. Hell, the cheesy costume Tatsuya "Persuaded" you to wear is almost as thin as paper in comparison; You've felt every punch & kick reverberate through your gloves and shoes tonight, that's for sure!

You wriggle around like a freshly-caught fish and catch glances of Tatsuya-Sensei looking disappointed and Avery blushing while holding her hands in front of her face... Did your "Disguise" rip open or something? Hell with it, there's no time to check: You've got to get out of this quickly or else you'll have to explain how you lost to a greenhorn in a "Casual" tournament full of KOF No-Hopers, Has-Beens, Make-Weights & Never-Will-Bes...

No, she's got you in the center of the ring.

>>46481081
>>46481116

For as ridiculous-looking as this thing is (Some kind of inverted reverse figure-four leglock), Tsuyako's got you locked up tighter than a cardinal's marbles and the pain is excruciating. You strain to try and keep from tapping out, but that only forces the opponent's hand and she cranks the submission even harder...

Thank god for the referee forcing Tsuyako to break it up; Another half a minute and you would've had to tap for sure. You carefully roll over to the ring-ropes and slowly get up to your feet, "Tsunami Tsuyako" bullying the referee by yelling in his face in a mixture of Japanese & broken "Engrish". Your legs feel like they're almost shot, but your arms and upper body seem OK... The ref does a hand motion, the bell rings twice to restart the fight and you don't know what to do next and it shows; You take so long to get back into a more "Traditional" Kyokugen stance (IE The one Tatsuya has tried to get you to follow) that Tsuyako does some kind of hopping arm-stretch taunt before walking towards you.

>A. Focus on Punches and zoning with Projectiles for now; Your legs are clearly not up to anything fancy and you need to keep her away from you (Roll 2d20)

>B. Rush her down with punches & elbows; The gloves are coming off this fight now (Roll 1d20)

>C. Counter and throw her; Your legs aren't up to kickig, but your balance feels OK-ish (Roll 2d20)

You crack your neck from side-to-side and land a solid left hook to Tsuyako's jaw, then combo into your "Flurry Punches", the sound reminding you of a machine gun before Tsuyako falls down to the center of the ring. You thought about trying to go for a quicker variant of your uppercut for a split-second, but nearly fall over after the punch flurry (To a couple of chuckles from the crowd, followed by yet another scuffle)...

You steady yourself and see Tsuyako wipe a touch of blood from her mouth with the back of her hand, then dash down low towards you. You correctly guess that a projectile wouldn't do much and instead crouch down to quickly smack her in the head with a quick, awkward-looking right straight.

She seems genuinely confused at getting hit out of her "WaveDash" (You don't know what it's actually called, but it looks similar to something you've seen in a 3D fighter you used to play a lot of) and it takes a couple seconds longer for her to recover, which sets you up to try and space her out with a fast "Ha'oh Shouken", then a harder-hitting one that knocks her off of her feet. Tsuyako does a Ukemi to get back on her feet, but you keep throwing out quick projectiles to keep her away from you until she either gives up in frustration, makes a mistake or the time runs out.

Though it's relatively effective, the crowd doesn't seem to like your tactics though; Some asshole started up a"THIS IS BULL-SHIT!" chant that quickly spread like wildfire throughout the building. You don't care though; All that matters now is winning.

After a couple of failed attempts to close in you with that "Wave Dash"-thingie, she simply tries to walk towards you and block whatever comes her way. Curiously, it seems to be working and you let up on the projectile spam just a little bit to give her more of a chance to try and get in you... God, you hope she takes this bait; Your arms are starting to get tired from chucking fireballs at her.

As worldly and "Cultured" as your dad was, he sure loved wrestling. In time, so did you, though by the time you got truly understand it the old days of CWA, BWA and other "Outlaw" federations had passed into memory. Still, it didn't stop you from learning your favorite finishing move from a former Southtown Wrestling Federation regular who met at your gym.

You carefully wait for "Tsunami Tsuyako" to get in range, duck under her high grab and kick her in the gut before delivering a nice, quick, Seated three-quarter Facelock Jawbreaker.

>New thread theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xrSH0G8kBo

The crowd goes berserk and Tsuyako is still standing after it (Though obviously dazed), so you deliver another "Stinger" that knocks her back so hard, you could swear a bolt of lightning went through her or something. You start to even do the "Rabid Dog" taunt old "Bone Cold" Corpus Christi would do, but stop and instead clumsily transition into doing a couple of cheesy "Hero" poses for the crowd as a referee checks up on Tsuyako...

You feel a silence hit the crowd after about a minute while a creeping sensation hits your gut when you look at Tsuyako; You knocked out cold with that one...

>"AAAAAND YOUR WINNER, BY TKO AND ADVANCING TO THE GRAND FINAL... LAAAAADDDDDYYYYY SKULLO!"

But it subsides when the bell rings and the crowd starts cheering and booing your win in equal measure.

>A. Check up on Tsuyako; You didn't mean to hit her THAT hard...

>B. Let the referees and the medics handle her; You've got to focus on tuning up to fight Avery for the win.

>C. Go over and tell Tatsuya that you're done for the night; That took everything you had out of you.

Even if you weren't in such a cheesy costume, you would've checked up on "Tsuami Tsuyako" after a hit like that. As you're supposed to be "Lady Skullo, Champion of JUSTICE" tonight, it's practically expected of you.

"Need a hand?" you ask, arm outstretched to help her up. She looks at you half confused, half in awe and looking like she's not so tough right now. She merely nods, then slowly gets up with your help as you raise her arm up and point at her like any good-old-fashioned "Baby face" would; Hell, she had you for a lot of the fight and could've won it if you hadn't sprung that move on her...

"You were the better fighter tonight" you whisper through your mask.

"Thank you... I'm sorry" is all she says back before turning around and punching you in the stomach. She pulled the punch back though, so you play along and let her do some kind of reverse spinning Argentine Backbreaker before storming out of the building to deafening boos.

What a fucking bitch. What a great heel move... You black out before you could think of anything else.

===

You wake up in a bed, your mask off and your arm hooked up to an IV drip. On first glance, it doesn't look like you're in a hospital; It could be the bingo hall's broiler room by the looks of it. On second glance, most of your costume is ripped open with big, gaping holes revealing what little you had on underneath; No wonder Avery was blushing. You're lucky that you wore the toughest underwear you owned today because otherwise it would've been a "Wardrobe Malfunction" you'd never live down...

Well damn it, you didn't expect that to end your night. Maybe you've gotten soft after all..? Or maybe Tsuyako made the same mistake you did?

Speak of the devil, Tatsuya-Sensei & Avery both walk in, clearly looking like they've been waiting for some time to see you wake up.

""How're you feeling?" Tatsuya asks, though Avery cuts in and ask you something you've only seen in movies. "What day is it?"
>>
>>46483092

"April 2nd?" you calmly answer and get to enjoy a hug from her.

Urgh, she's glomping you hard enough you can hear your ribs creaking inside your eyes...

"What time is it?"

"Right around midnight" Tatsuya answers. "Me'n'Avery here had to stay and help the cops calm the crowd down after your fight."

"Why'd you let her do that to you?" Avery again cuts in.

You shrug. "She pulled the punch back, so I thought she would do an easy move after..."

Avery's brow furrows trying to make sense of your explanation while Tatsuya just face-palms. "If it were anyone else, would you have done the same?"

You start to say "yes", but pause for a moment. Damn it to hell, you HAVE gone soft. "I shouldn't have done that."

"Damn right you shouldn't!" Tatsuya growls, but again calms down and asks Avery to leave the room.

She takes a look at him, but sighs as she shuts the door behind you and Tatsuya. "You understand how lucky you are, right? Because if this were a KOF fight you'd be dead already."

You nod. "I'm not gonna lie or hide behind big words here. I think you've got a lot of potential and could go very far in fighting. But you lack discipline, and in the art of Kyokugenryuu that's a grave sin."

"So what do want from me?" you ask, that "Tired/Pissed off/Don't fuck with me" lilt in your voice showing up a little.

"I want to work you privately... Train with you on a more intensive basis. Like what I did with Adam when he was going to enter his first Street Fighter tournament."

>A. Accept his "Private lessons"; You need to get into serious shape before trying this again.

>B. Decline his offer; You want to build back up to your old standard at a more relaxed pace.

Internet issues flaring up. So sorry Anons.

"I'll think about it" you reply after a long pause. "I need to cleary head and lick my wounds a little bit Sensei."

He smiles a little. "OK, no problem. Now let's get you home."

The next few days are about as dull as you could imagine. You aren't really in shape to go anywhere or do anything, so you take the opportunity to catch up on your backlog of books & manga to read, marathon throw an anime and lurk FightChan a little to catch up on the news of the day (Mostly shit-posting and forced memes, as usual).

Unfortunately, no one there made a thread about your exploits in "Real Bout", but that's to be expected; It really has fallen off the map as far as tournaments go. Plus, most of the posts are wondering when Mai Shiranui/Kasumi Todoh/Yamazaki/etc. etc. are going to get an invite for the next KOF... Which is going ahead with no actual TV coverage, apparently; Most of the posts in the /biz/ section are about who's going to stream the fights and post them back on FightChan.

By Sunday afternoon you're back at Cafe de Paradiso, too sore and tired to care about anyone else's personal dramas. As much as you hate the job, you can't deny that it's a good respite from fighting all of the time. At least you don't have to hide any bruises behind big sunglasses or whatever; You just dress in long sleeves and jeans to cover up the bumps and bruises you still have.

By the time you start to close up shop, no one's in the cafe except for some muscley red-headed biker chick who's taller than you... Not exactly your usual customer.

"Whatcha having? We're gonna close up soon, hun" you ask as you polish off the counter-top.

She takes a moment to glance at the menu drawn up on the huge chalkboard behind you, then replies "I'm looking for somebody; Do you have anyone here that fights regularly?"

Her accent's weird; Eastern European maybe? German? Swedish?

Had to reformat the entire post because Hiromoot thought it was spam.

If you were in business of costumed heroism or professional wrestling (Or at least both were portrayed in your youth), you might've tried to change the subject or deny that anyone like that was working here. Fortunately, you've come to understand that life isn't some cheesy soap opera (Most of the time, at least!) and come out with it in five easy words.

"I'm the girl. What's up?"

She takes a moment or two to eye you up and down, then says "Take this gift on behalf of Tsunami Tsuyako" while handing you an manila envelope.

A quick glance inside makes your eyes pop. It's about enough money you would've expected to win at Real Bout on Friday... Enough to buy some new training gear, or a complete costume to replace Tatsuya's ratty old one even.

Before you can thank her, she's gone out of the place with nairy a footstep to hear. Damn, not even a first name? Oh well. You close up shop by yourself (No thanks to Alex being hung-over from last night and puking her guts out in the bathroom) and head out to your car to count your "Gift"... Which is when you spot an ornate business card with a phone number falling out onto the floor of your car:

>"Call me! Fiona Graves - SWF Talent Scout"

Huh... Well, it's a local number, at least. And you can't help but feel a little familiar about the name and the agency she's with... Eh, you'll sleep on that one for a little bit; For right now, you want to...

>A. Drive down to Sound Beach and watch the sunset. It's relaxing.

You drive down towards South Town's ritziest district (The "Bay Area") to check out a garage you had seen a couple of fliers for while doing one of Tatsuya-Sensei's early-morning runs with the rest of the class. Judging from the fliers and how well they were designed/attracted the eye, it could be an actual racer's hang-out/parts shop rather than the usual stereotypical "Greasy Wrench" kind of place that'll rip you off for all you've got if you aren't careful...

Now that you think about it, The Kyokugenryuu Dojo is supposed to be somewhere in the Bay Area too, isn't it? You'll have to check that out at some point; Tatsuya-Sensei was rumored to have been trained by Ryo Sakazaki himself, which would go a long way to explain the Orange Gi and the "Sheer guts & determination" style of training he does...

You spot the exit that leads into the service park that houses "Advanced Vehicle Systems Inc" sooner than you think and can't quite believe your eyes; It looks more like a professional racing team's shop than a service station as you pull in... It kind of reminds of one of those "Autobacs" places in Japan.

The open bays are damn-near spotless as you get out and take a look around. At least 10, maybe 12 mechanics are all hard at work on a Smörgåsbord of cars & bikes; most of them you can't even recognize.

"Who knew KTM made sportbikes now?" you think as you take a close-but-not-too close look at one bay, but then spot a '66 Chevrolet Nova SS up on jacks in another, then some low, black thing with a widebodykit and a fleet of competition-grade Go-Karts getting complete tear-downs... It's almost an overload of your senses before you hear a familiar voice.

"Hey! Long time no see!"

You turn around to see an old friend stroll up and shake your hand. "Dave?! Holy crap, I haven't seen you in forever!"

"Same here! How've you been?"

"Could be better, could be worse... You work here, or just getting your old junker trashed?" you tease.
>>
>>46485477

"Har har, very funny" he replies, then adds "I own this place!"

You stare back at him. How? How could a complete yutz like Dave, with no mechanical acumen at all be running a garage as clean as this? "Crazy world huh?"

"Yeah! ... So, you want some work done on your ride? Or are you just cruising around?"

>A. "I'm just window-shopping right now. The old wallet's a little too light for any custom work."

You shrug. Even though you and Dave fgo way back from the fightclub scene, you've been burned too many times by shady garage owners to know he's smelling money in your pockets with that question, friendly or not.

"Nah, I just wanted to check this place out. Since that old garage in East Island closed down, there hasn't been anywhere I could go with my Porsche."

Dave nods. "That was kind of what I was going with this place, actually... Get the street racers and everyday customers together again." He pauses for a second, then asks "Come on in! Take a tour of the place on me."

You smile and go along with him and walk inside the parts shop you didn't even notice. As he rattles off on how he got the place together and all of the exclusive parts he's got on sale, you can't help but wonder what happened to him.

You met Dave for the first time on a hot, sweaty night in some dingy dive near South Town's busiest port in some guy's after-hours fightclub, but had heard rumors about him long before; A kickboxing prodigy who was being trained by former Super Heavyweight Champion Franco Bash, a scrawny kid with boundless potential... Yet, his career never went anywhere. He never progressed beyond being a big fish in a small pond and he kind of fizzled out from the fightclub scene after a while... Wonder what happened to him?

Maybe that limp he's trying to hide from you tells the story.

Ah well, at least he's got his health. And hey, he's a business owner at 26 and despite his temper-tantrums is pretty good at managing people, so who knows?

"But enough about the shop, how are you doing?" Dave asks, snapping you back into focus.

"Ah, you know, I got wrecked at Real Bout on Friday. Otherwise, I couldn't be better."

From the way you said it, you could've been talking about losing to some guy at the arcade over a match of BlazeGear GuiltyBlue. From the way Dave reacts, it looked like you just dropped a bombshell on him.

After picking his jaw up from off the floor, he shakes his head in amazement. "Never thought I'd see the day that the new "Demon of Judo" would lose a match... And in Real Bout even!"

"Hey come on man, it was my first time fighting in like six months, yeah? Cut me some slack" you joke.

"Six Months?! What happened to you?"

You take a moment to pause, then simply say "A lot of things, Dave."

"Huh... Who'd you lose to?"

"Some schoolgirl wrestler. I let my guard down after the fight was over and she tore me up so badly I couldn't continue" you explain.

"Tsunami Tsuyako?" Dave asks and you nod. "I've heard of her. She's one of the new hires for the South Town Wrestling Federation. A real hard-ass."

"And since when do you care about wrestlers? I thought you didn't like that "Fake Shit"?"

"I don't, but her tag-team partner was the first customer our shop ever had" Dave tells you, then motions you over to a sort-of "Hall of Fame" with some signed photos of the more famous people that have apparently been here. "Blue Mary" Ryan is the only one you can recognize though...

"Huh... I didn't know South Town had so many people interested in cars and bikes" you ponder out loud. "Who's the tall dark & handsome guy on the right?" you ask.

As if on cue, the "Tall, Dark & Handsome" guy walks into the front office and asks "Hey Dave, you got an ETA on when my car's going to be done? Because I'm thinking about rolling my sleeves and doing it myself."

Dave rolls his eyes and sighs. "Sorry babe, I got to take care of this; Excuse me."

You don't bother to listen on the animated conversation the two of them have and figure that it's time to get going.
>>
>>46486705

You get home by around 9-ish, taking some time to dick around some of the backroads that lead to your cabin. A quick bowl of soup and some Netflix caps off your night at around 11, though there's something about that guy from AVS that you can't shake... Like, you can't help but recognize him from somewhere before...

You wake up early the next morning with every fiber of your body extracting revenge on you for not stretching enough yesterday. Damn this low muscle memory of yours! Plus fucking'a' you forgot you had a morning shift at work today... You peel yourself from out under your covers and stretch as much as you can before taking a shower and driving off to work. (Fucking Alex, man. That guy needs to get his shit together or else you're gonna complain to the owners again, because you can't keep covering for him all of the damn time.)

You're glad Tatsuya gave you a week off from classes to heal up; You would be dying if you had to go in for afternoon drills today... Hell, you barely can do stuff around the Cafe without feeling you're gonna drop everything from a lack of strength or control over your strength.

"Hey, you need a break? Because you're not looking too good" Alair (One of the few "Nice" ones at the cafe) asks.

>A. "Nah, I'm alright. Help me with these smoothies quick; I'm swamped with orders right now."

>B. "OK. I'll grab a bite to eat and be back in a sec."

>C. Take the break and quickly call up up Fiona. You want to see if she's for real or not.

Tie-Break Time! Most votes linking back this post within 5 Minutes gets it.

...

On second thought, I'll go with Option C if there aren't any objections...

Usually you'd balk at an offer to take a break this early in the morning. Hell, you've only got like an hour or so left before you clock out! Taking 15 minutes off of that just never felt right... But today, with how you're feeling, you need a little breather.

"OK, I'll be back in about 15 or so" you tell her, clocking out before taking the break like you're supposed to (Mostly because the owners have a nasty habit of illegally shortening paychecks by taking when you punch back in and out quite seriously, but also because of the do-nothing bitches that take breaks while technically on the clock) and take a breather on the patio.

No one else seems to like eating outdoors this early in the year, so no one's around... You figure that you should get something on your mind out of the way pronto, so you call the number on the back of "Fiona's" business card. You just hope that it doesn't ask for anything like your credit card number or an ID...

A couple of rings go by and it makes you "I'm glad you called."

"Yeah? This is Fiona Graves, right?"

"You bet' she quickly answers, then gets right to the point. "The Southtown Wrestling Federation is looking to expand it's stable and bring back its Women's Division full-time. The problem is, the caliber of wrestler that SWF prefers was a rare commodity back when they active, let alone now."

"So, you liked how I was out there?" you ask, genuinely curious and watching Alair in the window pointing at her watch.

"Yes... If you could, I'd like to book a try-out sometime this week" Fiona asks as you try to shoo Alair away.

And that's the thread! The next session will happen sometime this week if all goes well. I'll also be around to ask questions for a little bit too.

How's the wrist and everything doing?

Good. I just felt like stopping a little earlier than usual today instead of stretching it out into a marathon (The girl in my last post was basically the manager at the place I was running this session asking me to leave).

Good thread regardless Weasel. Are we Real xxii Katja? Because it feels like we're a cuter, well-adjusted Katja.

I'm open to the idea, but I'm not making any promises. At this point, we're an attractive young woman with a knack for fighting; Nothing more, nothing less.

And the thread's finally archived: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/46481009/

OK then, the next KOF Quest:R thread will be tomorrow at the same time as today's (11 AM PST/2 PM EST).

See you then everybody!

Same thread or different one?
>>

Either or. It depends if this one's still up or not.

So we are in an alternate universe without Katja where she didn't go to Kyoguken first but Judo?
>>
>>46491742

It feels like it to me. I'm just wondering if we trained under anybody "Notable" in KOF lore or not.

The one notable judoka in KOF is Goro Daimon, and he's something of a national treasure in Japan.
