You are not Jadyk of the Wormstar.

You are one of the nameless Voidknight Disciples in the Reborn Voidknight Order within the New Necrotic Armada. Standing on the bridge of a Necrotic Frigate you gaze out at alien stars, a single Think Tank and several Reconstructed hovering nearby.

The testing of the Combination FTL drive should have been a simple and safe test, you had only been assigned to keep watch over the Void Core and prevent any dangerous energy spikes. Yet something wrong had occurred. The drive had turned itself on and activated ripping the Frigate and the surrounding cavern it had been hidden away in and teleporting it all unknowable distances across the galaxy.

Now you stand on the bridge of a Frigate with only a small amount of Reconstructed and a Think Tank to assist you. A foreign white star shines in the distance, a world with several moons only several lightminutes away.

The Think Tank spins slowly in the air, necrotic fluid burbling gently within. It's voice fills your mind, <We are lost. I cannot reach the Armada but I have sent out a signal. Hopefully in time the Deep Rot will hear us. You are in command now, what are your orders?>

Voidflames leak from your black armor as you sit on the command chair made from muscle and chitin that rose from the ground. You gaze at the screens before you, the world showing signs of life and primitive intelligence from initial scans. Finally you point to the unsuspecting world, "First, we stop there. You create a Cauldron. Then, we go home. The Armada is awaiting us and I will not let Lord Jadyk or Revenant Lorgul down."

The Think Tank spins a little bit faster and the Frigate fires its engine, the Combo-Drive separated into it's Skip and Void drive components. You had no desire for a repeat of the previous accident.

You are a Disciple of the Voidknight Order and a proud member of the New Necrotic Armada and you would find your way back, no matter the cost.

The Blackscale Cabal has pledged itself to the New Necrotic Armada and have agreed to divulge their secrets with the Think Tanks. Foremost among these are the secrets of the Sunscale Divers Stealth technology, an undead Diver pair sent to discuss with a Think Tank.

The other was the reanimation and processing of Sunscale biology. This Cabal lacked the complete understanding of Cauldren technology instead using pieces and their own potent necrotic power to "muscle" the dead into reanimation. Yet it was their innate connection to the Sunscale that allowed them to corrupt the purist reptilians flesh, bones, and souls into their service.

Unlocked Research:
>Ship Stealth Technology: Medium
>Sunscale Dissection and Reanimation: Medium
>Necrotic Blades: Fast

You were still on board their Destroyer but distracted by the message relayed by an excited Deep Rot. The visions of the Voidknight Disciple lost among the cosmic seas brought a sense of relief to you to know they still survived. Lorgul's reaction is much more joyful, proudly exclaiming he expected nothing less from his first Disciple. Even Jareth is proud of his still nameless brother. You would have to have faith that the Disciple would someday make his way home, his name waiting for him.

There was much to be done, the day only just begun but there is one decision to make before you depart from the Blackscales ship they called "Pestilence". You feel the Domination Spikes you had smuggled within your torso clinking against your ribcage.

Use the Domination Spikes on the Blackscale?

They still maintain free will, unless we want to control them directly, there is no noticeable downside to domination spikes.
>>46422745
Why not just have the disciple find a planet with life and just colonize that right now? we don't really need to build a whole flagship to colonize, we pretty much just need some troops and a cauldron.
>>
it is time
>>
>>46422700
You decide that the need for Domination Spikes may be a bit premature. You wished to see if these Blackscale would be loyal on their word alone. Yet should they prove treacherous you always have the option of introducing them to the devices easily enough.

Turning to the trio of Blackscale that speak with a pair of Think Tanks you bid them farewell, leaving a contingent of Reconstructed soldiers behind with the Think Tanks. Mostly as insurance and a way to track them should they disappear once more.

There was much to be done and tend to.

The Sunscale prisoners still to be addressed.

Lorgul and his Disciples have captured the Deathshead Guardian and transporting it back to the Moon based Temple.

Buddy the human reporting ready to begin his job as a smuggler, even selecting a few of his "friends" to join him. A crew of humans, vorh, kesh and a few netu to assist him in his trafficking of the Narcotikelp crop into the Confederacy of Planets.

Iti'a'Ropku, the Home of All Souls, has been completed and awaits, empty and soundless for its living inhabitants. Streets of bone and buildings of chitin await them the tunnels connecting to the homes of the Stonestar betrayers living in the depths of Horizons Drops mountains.

The Fury of the Wormstar has awakened and yearns to explore, the Think Tanks presenting their new class of starship. Bioships made from a large amount of Biomass instead of metallic ore and appearing as living creatures if heavily augmented for space travel and combat. The Fury of the Wormstar itself is intelligent, the Think Tanks that had overseen its transformation evolving into a new mind like the Deep Rot or Charnel Vault.

I say we get the sunscales out of the way now.

On an entirely different note, I was kicking around an idea for furthering our hold over the living, both within our borders and outside; Memetic rune hymns. Based on the wormstar's choir of old, Jadyk would broadcast Necrotic songs throughout the stars that could subliminally influence living minds, not unlike our dreamstones currently do, but with less potency over a much wider range. Mortals with an innate connection to the Necrotic, such as Jor, would be particularly perceptive to it, but users of Narcotikelp would also faintly hear it, like a whisper in their drug fueled brains. Over time and prolonged exposure it could allow Jadyk to influence their thoughts, subtly at first, but progessing to brief half formed visions of broken runes and twisting flesh. The goal of this is to allow Jadyk to quickly identify living with the potential to become necromancers, and forment cults and dissent within enemy borders. Also to give us an excuse to make Jadyk a musical skeleton, but that's just a bonus really.

Any thoughts?

Several suggestions put forth:

Move your living subjects to the Capitol City. This can be done automatically by Jor or seen to personally.

We honestly don't really need to handle this -- the only benefit of introducing the capital ourselves is awe the subjects.

Colonizing efforts should be a reward for our generals, I think. Furthermore, the reconstructed there aren't powerful enough that I'm comfortable with leaving them there to face threats without easy and quick access to reinforcements.

>Interrogate the Guardian first
The Sunscale is likely even more of a headache than the Guardian, so let's put that off for last.

Taking your leave of the Blackscales ship you drift across the void of space to rejoin your flagship the Charnel Vault. Your throne floats through the wide hallways passing streams of Reconstructed as they moved on their way, glass tubes pumping raw Biomass like arteries through a living being arrayed through the ship. Deep in its core is the Prison and it is home to one inhabitant.

Solar Blessed Glucors sits in the middle of a cell, five Glutton Sphere Dirges hovering nearby each attuned personally to drain Solar energy. The Albino sat silently, his forearms embedded in a slab of bone to restrain him and prevent any suicidal attempts. Heavy necrotic chains latch onto a thick collar that weighs him down. He only glances up and snarls as you appear outside the bars of his cell.

Kyn'tk writhes in your grasp and you let it drop, the metal reshaping itself into a jagged blob as it falls only to slither out like a fractal serpent that circles and prods at the albino, "I have many questions for you, Sunscale."

The reptilian looks up from the circling spear to glare at you, red eyes full of rage but he remains silent. You were glad he didn't try to bite his tongue off like some of the other Sunscale. Sighing you wave your hand and a surge of pain races through him centered around the domination spikes in his neck and limbs, the Sunscale gasping and nearly falling to the floor but he manages to stay seated despite his seizing muscle. You let him suffer for a few minutes then halt his pain, letting him pant heavily as he recovered, "First of all, tell me of your fleet. Were the ships you brought here the fullness of your fleet or do you have others waiting for you?"

>>46425012
I kind of like the idea of having a living Akham as our slave though, that alone will be more than enough shatter their followers faith. Besides, we're pretty much out of elements to give him by this point.
>>
>>46425062
He glowers silently and you grit your teeth before another wave of pain washes over him until he gasps out several minutes later, "A contingent! Almost as large!" you let the pain pass and he growls out regrettably, "A failsafe to search for us should we not return and to warn the Flotilla." he mutters something to himself, asking for forgiveness from his gods.

You find it amusing but you continue your questioning now that he finally answered the first, "You will tell me where this secondary fleet is," you command.

"Never," he replies resolutely making you sigh in disappointment but you move on. There would be more time to pry the specifics out of him.

"Very well. Tell me about yourself and your people. I hear you do not quite like the Undead," you say nonchalantly and almost laugh at his reaction.

The Sunscale surges forward, straining at his chains as he looms over you at the bars of his cage, fangs bared and dripping saliva as the Dirges held him still with a creaking of crystal, "Your kind are an abomination and a blight against creation! The Undead only destroy and devour, corrupting everything in their path!" they were shouting now, ignoring the pain of the telekinetic grasp and the Domination Spikes.

You wave your hand dismissively, "Yes yes, I know this. I am that I am. I know what I am. I wish to know about you, the Sunscale, the Father from the Solar and the Mother in the Void," you lean forward, Solar and Void flames engulfing your body in an erratic display of power that makes the Albino recoil in shock, "Tell me everything."

Eh, I feel like we kind of need a hero from at least each 'Major' race we encounter and defeat.

Also, It might be more demoralizing for their followers if their god wasn't just killed by us, but reborn anew to serve.
>>
>>46425083
Seeing an undead, even one with intelligence and obvious power such as yourself, seems to have shaken something deep in the Sunscales core. He falls silent for a long time before taking his seat and speaking slowly.

The Flotilla was what formed in the aftermath of the Sunscales original homeworld was destroyed. Glucors says the Wormstar, the Black Flame, the Lightdrinker, and other primal patrons of the Undying Court had targeted the fledgling species and only saved by their gods, flung among the stars to survive and rebuild and grow strong for their revenge. It surprises you to learn thsi was all before the formation of the Grand Necrotic Armada, when the Undying Court was just being formed and years before you had risen from a corpse-puppeting grub to become the Herald of the Wormstar.

You ask him if he means Akka-Tor, the Lightdrinker he shakes his head, saying there have been many Lightdrinkers the Sunscales encountered but Akka-Tor has been the only one they couldn't kill. The Suneater has slain many of the Sunscale by his recollection.

The Sunscale falls silent, falling into a deep depression as his mind races. You can feel his faith crumbling in the face of your power and it fills you with...delight.

Do you have any further questions for the Sunscale?
>>
>>46425122
Where and how did he receive his mastery over solar power?
>>
>>46425122
What are the current capabilities of the current suneater and how did they kill their previous incarnations.
>>
>>46425196
Oh! This, hopefully he can provide confirmation that Akka-Tor personally weakened the Wormstar before they destroyed it.

>>46425109
I like that idea as well, but we do need to keep providing each of them with a unique element for them to found their own order on, if we are to keep up the tradition. And it seems like there are more races to conquer than elements.

Besides, if we're going to turn one of them I'd like to use the big momma herself.
>>
>>46425317
No real reason to not just have the akham hero unit use arc and become a Predator type. Snakes as hunters and all that jazz.

Besides, sunscale reconstructed would have solar.
>>
>>46425317
I don't see anything wrong with slapping the Ahkam with necrotic energy. Is there really a problem with generals sharing powers?
>>
>>46425122
What were the weaknesses of the Lightdrinkers? Are there void touched amongst as there are solar touched? Do your kind still have contact wasps or crystallines, or any other race I know not of in my slumber? How many Akham groups do you know of? Have you heard of or seen any shards of the Wormstar? Who or what lead you and the others to it? What would be your reaction if I said truthfully my sojourn in darkness tempered me? I've come to respect the living .

"You call yourself Solar-Blessed. Who gave you this master over the Solar flames? Your might very nearly trumped mine," You clench your fist and it erupts in solar flame, the chitin and bone darkening as they burn, "For a brief moment," you taunt.

The Sunscale scowls and looks away, "I was chosen by The Father to be his sword and flame. I...I see he chose wrong. I doubt even the Mother would forgive the sin of allowing an undead the power of the Solar..." they trail off.

"Tell me, are there among your number that are Void-Blessed? I know your kind had a hand in the destruction of the Voidknights and snuffed out the Black Flame, leading the rise of the Osjiic Empire," Solar flames are replaced by Void, your bone and chitin rapidly repairing the scorch damage.

"The Osjiic are our races mistake. The Flotilla was still young and stretched thin. They could not track down every spark of the Black Flame," The sunscale shakes their head and sighs heavily, their depression growing. They glance at the Dirges surrounding them then back down, "I can only feel a flicker of the Fathers Flame. I...did not know this was possible..."

You clack your jaw in bemusement, "Very possible my reptilian friend," you lean forward once more, gazing intently with hollow sockets at the sunscale, "Now tell me. What do you know of the Lightdrinker or the Suneater as she's known now? Do they have a weakness that your tales speak of?"

Glucors shakes their head, "The Suneater consumes Solar power, living up to her name. She's killed many of the Sunscale and destroyed many ships. The Lightdrinker that killed our world so many eons ago was not the Suneater of this time. This I know," they look to you with an odd look, "You are Wormstar made. I recognize your ships and undead from our scriptures," he sits up straighter and a small smirk appears across his face, "You've learned of the Suneaters Betrayal haven't you?" he lets out a short laugh

>cont
>>
>>46425633
You grit your teeth as he chokes off the laugh as your telekinetically squeeze around his throat then release before you accidentally kill him, "Tell me what you know," you say with barely controlled anger.

"Our ancient allies, the Crystalline Minds and the Wasp Collective, they were told by Akka-Tor where to find the Wormstar and other members of the destroyed Court," he chuckles hoarsely, eyes glinting with amusement, "The Undying Court, destroyed and dismantled by a betrayer. The Great Tragedy of the Grand Necrotic Armada. Father and Mother attempted to destroy her, in the last days of the Armada, but she...is difficult to bring True Death to," he shrugs and rolls his shoulders, pale scales glinting, "Or so our scriptures say."

Make him a Hero unit with the Blackscales help. Let us see what they can do with proper materials and apparati.
>>
>>46425668
Get the blackscales, have them help us make him into a Hero unit using solar power
>>
>>46425668
Let's keep him here, and have Jadyk periodically talk to him so that he comes to willingly serve. As yet, we can't actually Reconstruct him, I don't think? And, we don't have enough resources to really create another branch of our military for a General to lead...

Though, confirmation that Akka-Tor actually betrayed us is nice. Her enmity with the Masked suggests another side of the story, however.
>>
>>46425668
"Would your race ever be amenable to an alliance of opportunity? The lightdrinker threatens all, and even I can see that. Or would you let her destroy everyone in her ambition out of spite?"

Or something along those lines, I can't into dialogue.

Then get blackscales and make a hero when he inevitably laughs in our face
>>
>>46425791
It was implied that akka-tor had aid from the masked, since the had a mask of her own. She probably tried to betray them for more power later on but then they told her to eat shit and gtfo; hence why she now hates them and the mask is broken.
>>
>>46425807
My guess they helped her set it up. We by all rights should have died instead of been sealed away so she likely had them save us and seal us away til she could find us later. Then when she was set to take the power from the defeated and dying Wormstar, amplifying her own necrotic power and making her our master, the Masked betrayed the betrayer and stopped her.

>>46425845
probably something like that.

Basically, but at the very least they are reliable. We know we cannot trust them once we get the upper hand, but still make fine business partners in the meantime. Which is a lot more than can be said for Akka-Tor.

"A few more questions, Glucors and you shall peace," the words answered by another laugh, "Were you told by the Masked to come to this system?" You feel the mask within your ribcage rattle slightly and you mentally command it to be quiet and it stills.

The Sunscale half-heartedly tests the strength of the bone sealing his hands before answering, "I was yes. Said there was an outbreak of undead in this system. Clearly they were telling the truth but not on how strong the outbreak was. Be wary, Wormstar pawn. The Masked betray everyone they parlay with. They betrayed us after guiding us to much glory before. They will betray you in time."

You wave your hand dismissively, "Hardly your concern anymore. Now, I know this is a difficult question but I must ask this," you lean forward with elbow resting on the armrest of your throne, chin propped in your palm, "Would your race ever be accepting of a peace between our kinds? The Suneater I believe has dire plans for the vast galaxy. Plans that could disrupt the lives of my beloved living minions. Or would your kind let her ambitions ravage this galaxy out of spite?"

As you expected he begins to laugh at the thought and your eyes would be rolling, if you had any. You wave him off and the throne lifts from the floor, "I figured as much. Tell me Glucors, did you know the Masked originally meant your Blackscaled cousins were those they sent you after?" The albino ceases his laughing, glaring at you with sudden intensity, "The Blackscale that have pledged their loyalty to me. After all, we are descendants of the Wormstar and they shall help me bring you into the fold."

Behind you the three Blackscale Necromancers step forth, the Albino surging to his feet at the sight of them and inhaling deeply. He unleashes a gout of orange-blue flame but they choke out before they can reach you as the collar tightens around his neck, squeezing tighter and tighter until he falls to his knees wheezing.

Dirges carry the dazed Sunscale through the halls of the Charnel Vault to the large Cauldron near its "brain" and Core. The Blackscale cabal follows silently, staves of warped bone decorated with fetishes and trophies in their grasp, as you lead them.

Dirges surround the room, walls covered in the runes of the Wormstar. Braziers of Necrotic crystal cast the large room into a glow almost overpowered by the aura cast off by the Cauldron set in the floor. The rest of the Cauldron system extended down into the belly of the ship but it was here where you would test your new subjects and Reconstruct the Albino Warblood.

Okay, before Grave drops dead or something we need to get a build plan set up. We need more biomass coming in faster and in larger quantities.
We need more fighters and frigates and we need more reconstructed foot soldiers.
>>
>>46426576
Whatever we do, use 1/2 of whatever is left on as many ships as possible, and 1/2 on more resource generators.
>>
>>46424195
If you still need a vote to break the tie, I say we attend personally.

>>46426650

>>
>>46426576

Number of pylons capable of making one, I assume.
>>
>>46426787
> their
Wow, I sure need to sleep.
>>
>>46426811
Yeah, with the current number of pylons we can build 72 capitols, 295 sub-capitols, and 820 small craft every three days. I got a list together for boosting that, so I might as well post it now.

59 small craft pylons: 47200B 35400M
141 sub capitol pylons: 141000B 112800M
64 capitol pylons: 96000B 76800M

Building there will allow us to make 2000 small craft, 1000 sub capitols, and 200 capitols every 3 days. Should we build more?
>>
>>46426888
I put together a total so that it would be easier to look at. 284200B 125000M. I did the math in my head, so no promises it's exact.
>>
>>46426888
I'm down. We also need more infantry, though. Ships are certainly going to be our bread and butter, but we need feet on the ground to take cities and stations.
>>
I have a question.
What if we throw the mask and our spear in to a cauldron and combined them?
>>
>>46426888
should invest in our economy as well

half n half
>>
>>46426888
So long as we have a decent number of resources left over to convert into more resource generators at the end, I'm on board with that.

We really need to start using everything we have left over at the end of each turn. Half for ships, Half for resource generators. Having bonus resource at the start of each turn when they could be turned into more generators passively harms our potential income.
>>
>>46427028
Fuck no
>>
>>46427036
I agree, but ship pylons in particular I want to get up now, because by the next thread nearly all the current pylons will be free, allowing us to put in a single massive order. Like, more than double our current fleet massive.
>>
>>46426275
A gently telekinetic slap awakens the Sunscale as they're held above the liquid of the Cauldron and they begin to struggle against their unseen bonds, "Fear not, Solar-Blessed. You will not die alone and in vain. Your sacrifice has and will give me the power I need to help further defend myself and my people. You think me a monster," you glance at the Blackscale placed around the Cauldron and you laugh softly as you glance up at the Albino glaring at you, "And you would be right. But I am a monster that has learned something in my time imprisoned," you say as he's slowly lowered to the boiling black liquid.

"True Death is Oblivion.
Undeath is Eternity.
Life is Chaos and Change.
Without Life, Undeath is Stagnation.
A surrender to Entropy."

The Albino stares at you in disbelief, muzzled and muted from rebuttal but the Blackscale ponder on your words.

"Thank you, Glucors. For your sacrifice," you say and the Sunscale is plunged into the liquid. You kneel with all three of the Blackscale and plunge your hands into the liquid. Kyn'tk slithers into the pool, breaking into a cage of sharp claws and tines, helping as you focus with your new charges to reshape and Reconstruct the Sunscale.

As before you feel his body, his very essence reject your touch. Instead you follow the Blackscales lead. They teach you as much as you teach them, sharing knowledge of the Cauldron and the ways to reshape bone and flesh and metal into new deadly shapes.

We should honestly just spend half our leftover resources on ships and half on resource generators; that way starting from the end of the first build cycle we'll get progressively more and more ships/income every single turn.

The four of you spend several hours, motionless by the sides of the churning Cauldron as you all struggle to corrupt a being who had been born and devoted his whole life to servitude of their powerful gods. Yet your combined might and wiles slowly but surely warp the once Solar-Blessed Sunscale in a being of Necrotic and corrupted Solar power.

The three Blackscale fall back, exhausted with the top layers of scale and flesh melted from their hands. They would heal quickly enough but you persist until finally you pull away and stand, tired but excited.

Light flickers below the surface of the liquid biomass churning and boiling. Slowly those flickers become flames as your latest general arises from the Cauldron. Almost as tall as Agona or her sister your new General stands before you, hovering calmly above the Cauldron. An eyeless, mouthless reptilian skull of smooth, fused bone that sweeps back into a crest of broken bone burning with solar flames bows before you. Armored bone the same pale white as Glucors pristine scales plates the hunched undead, a powerful segmented tail with a thagomizer of blades glowing with heat to balance him. Powerful limbs ripple the air with the heat contained within and your newest General kneels down before you after landing.

You clack your jaw as Kyn'tk reforms in your grasp, the spear engulfed in flame. You touch it's point to the new undeads brow, "Arise, my new General. Arise Dominator Valresko. Your light shall burn those that oppose us out of the shadows."

Cracks open the seamless bone of their skull to open their maw, orange flames issuing forth with his words as he stands, "I stand ready to serve. Hail the Wormstar and the New Necrotic Armada!" they cross their arms across their chest in salute and bow their head once more, the Blackscale repeating the motion and mantra.

>Dominator Valresko has been Reconstructed. His creation the first step in uniting the Blackscale and the New Necrotic Armada.
>>
>>46426888
You always should built more production buildings, but now I'm more worried about resources, and biomass in particular.
Okay, so, if we are not going to spend anything in these thread, I propose:
>15 Biomass Farm (304.5k bm 82.5k m)
>50 Capitol pylons (75k bm 60k m)
>100 sub capitol pylons (100k bm, 80k m)
>80 small craft pylons (64k bm, 48k m)
And we out of the biomass. See what I mean?

I do see what you mean, and totally agree we should pour about half our biomass into farms. With the pylon order I posted we can afford 13 farms, so how does this look to you?

13 biomass farms: 263900B 71500M
59 small craft pylons: 47200B 35400M
141 sub capitol pylons: 141000B 112800M
64 capitol pylons: 96000B 76800M

I'm suggesting this on the assumption that by the next thread all the farms and pylons built will be fully functional and ready to expand our fleet of course.

13 biomass farms: 263900B 71500M
59 small craft pylons: 47200B 35400M

That's how I came up with the number 13 for biomass farms we can create. That's literally the absolute most we can build with the resources we have right now after the pylon construction. If so, we have quite a few of them and not a lot of troops, we should let them explore and conquer on their free time and amass their own armies, or take their own spoils of war to expand their personal fleets. Or even just costumizet their own reconstructed and let their creative juices flow.

Your new General and Guir remain on the ship as the other Blackscale return to their Pestilence to remain behind and tend to their business in the system. The Charnel Vault departs from the system, ships carrying Muic, Jareth, and Eiton all departing as well.

Your fleets arrive in the sky above Horizon's Drop, the Charnel Vault illuminated by the setting sun in the evening sky. Ships appear alongside the flagship carrying Nekris, the Voidsinger Commander, the Necrolyte Legion, and even a ship from the Lavafathers fleets among their number. Nekris and the Legion had left behind Station 88 and the mining world in the hands of the Think Tanks and Reconstructed soldiers. Lorgul and several of his Disciples also make an arrival in their Void-Terros, with several left behind on the moon to stand guard over the Guardian. The stonestar warriors and researchers loaned from the Lavafather invited as well, the echinoderms gladly accepting.

Dirges and Requiems depart from the hull of the Charnel Vault, glittering in the setting sunlight as they fell through the atmosphere. Colonists and Plainsrunners look up in awe as the blood-red droplets fall down upon the city glowing in the mountains, highlighted by the last lights of the sun.

Shuttles, hover transports, and Hearses are used to transport the living from their colony, Reconstructed and mechanical drones left in charge. Young David and his family riding in the Coffin alongside Jor. Ships descend from orbit, carrying Necrolytes and your Generals to the surface.

You yourself departing on your Throne to drift down, a cloud of Gargoyles and a pair of the colossal Drakes sailing around you to herald your approach.

Dominator Valresko, engulfed in a halo of flame, drifts nearby. He is not alone, the rest of your Generals, all but missing Agona descending through the atmosphere. Voidflames surround Lorgul, the first of your Generals and Jareth. Predators Nekris and Eiton crackling with electricity arcing between them. Punisher Muic stoically falling like a graceful brick with her arms crossed. You could feel her envy at lacking a unique power but she knows she is as much an equal as the others, even more so once Agona is "Reforged" and returned to the Armada.

The grand gates of the city creak open, the path of paved with bone and chitin echoing with the footfalls of hundreds of the living as they entered. Necrolytes, Colonists, Osogo, and Stonestar walk alongside each other as they enter their new home. A grand central plaza spreads before them, large enough for the hundreds gathered. Dirges and Requiems, glittering deadly statues stand on top of pillars of black stone harvested from the moon spread throughout the plaza. A raised platform of hovering bone waits on one end, your Generals landing in scattered formation. Jor steps onto a small platform and he is raised alongside the Voidsinger Commander. The pair join the ranks of the General, Nekris patting the human cheerfully on the shoulder.

Your entourage of Gargoyles and Drakes land on walls, Osogo, Dirges and Requiems, building creaking under the weight of the Drakes. The crowd had been noisy with the voices in a multitude of alien tongues but as your Throne nears the crowd falls into a hush. Your Throne sets down on the hovering platform, decorative Dirge guards shimmering in the lights from the Coffins hovering silently above the plaza. Rising from the stone chair that had been your throne for eons in the darkness of this world you are struck but a sense of amusement. In mere months of your freedom you were here, a new Armada at your command and a city built on the dreams of your subjects.

Your voice carries out across the masses, projected loud enough for all to hear, "I feel you should all know my past. I was trapped here, for eons on this planet. Entombed in these very mountains until I was freed by luck and providence by my friend, Jor, now First Necromancer of my Armada," you motion to the human who gazed at you with shock at his sudden promotion. There is scattered cheering from the Necrolytes and a few of the Colonists and Osogo.

You continue, "It has been mere months since my freedom was gained. I know my release and rise to power has been...stressful to many of you but I hope I can begin to make amends, starting with this city," you gaze out across those gathered before you. A multitude of alien eyes gazing up at you in turn," It quite amazes me really. To see so many races standing here before me tonight. Before you were all separate, enemies, strangers. Now, you are united, even if unwillingly at first. The future holds many unknown things but I know you all have a place within this New Necrotic Armada.

I open this city, Iti'a'Ropku to you all. This means the Home of All Souls in my old language and I hope it shall live up to its name. All are welcome here. All will be provided for and protected by the might of the Reconstructed and the Necrolyte Legion. The Necrolyte Legion, the Living that fight and die and are reborn alongside the Reconstructed. Created by the inspiration of the Voidsinger Commander, the first of your order," you say, recognizing the achievements of the Osjiic quasi-dead, "You shall be my representatives and will made flesh. You will go forth and show the universe that there can be peace and cooperation between the Undead and the Living. You will live and fight and when you finally die, your bodies and souls will be reborn and Reconstructed to exist and fight eternally in this Armada.

I vow, along with my Generals gathered here tonight," you say motioning to the undead arrayed by your sides, "That those in the care of the New Necrotic Armada will receive the fullest of our protection. This we swear by the Light of the Wormstar."

"This we swear," the vow echoed by your Generals, Jor, and the Voidsinger Commander.

You sweep your hands to motion to the city sprawling through the mountain peaks, the wind chill and the air thin but the area heated to keep the city warm, "I welcome you to your new home. There is much to see and tend to. Search it to your hearts content, find the homes you wish to keep. Ask any of the Reconstructed for aid and be merry. This is only one of the gifts I shall bestow upon you all, my favored subjects."

You finish as the crowds let out cheers, the platform rising as those gathered begin to filter into the city proper. Talons and Demi-Think Tanks move among them, the Deep Rot kept busy as he guided and helped.

First Necromancer Jor approaches, his Reaver staff held in the crook of his arm as he applauded, "Very well done, my lord. I think you may have convinced more than a few of them of your good intentions," this met with scattered laughter from the Undead Generals scattered about the platform.

>Iti'a'Ropku, the City of All Souls, has been finished and opened to the living subjects of the New Necrotic Armada.

This shall become the seat of your power and a sign of things to come. Living and Reconstructed coexisting under the guidance of the eternal Undead. The City will continue to grow automatically as the population swells and technology advances.

You're a great writer. I like how you manage to get across the magnificence and grandness in your descriptions.

I think it's time we start building planetary capital on Rukor, introduce the Ructu to necromancy (probably with the help of Jor) and bring some to live in the Capitol we just opened. Also we need to send representatives to other Osogo tribes.

Oh, okay. Wasn't sure if we could only retrieve that information from him.

I had an idea for making various 'contingents' of Necrolytes based on our various generals. Like, the main legion is obviously massive and works under us, but we send some to Agona/Nekris/Dominator to learn their elemnts under them.

A paladin order with Solar from Dominator, Arc Assassins from Nekris, and Magma Knights or whatever from Agona; Basically teaching various races how to wield the elements in the Necrotic Armada's name

What do the other anons think? good or utterly stupid?
>>
>>46429118
Absolutely fantastic. This is exactly the direction I'd hoped we could manage to go. We're forging an empire with an ideology that could span the galaxy by absorbing everyone already in it rather than just destroying them.
>>
>>46429118
We should have embassy exchange with the Armatocere now that we have a working capital. Speaking of which what are the little buggers doing?

>>46429242
Could you post the review here?
>>
>>46429324
I wish that asshole who keeps doing that would stop already.
>>
>>46429372
Good idea. Basically, like how the Voidsingers feed into Lorgul's Voidknight Order, other element-wielders feed into the appropriate branches of our military.

(The Necromancers can feed into a dedicated order, focused on working with the Cauldrons and Think Tanks and other support functions, under Jadyk's direct control?)
>>
>>46429283
I'm reading it and it doesn't look very encouraging.
>>
>>46429372
Overly complicated and kinda a downgrade

While our generals have shown us that they have their own personal strategies in how they conduct war but they all know the basics
>>
>>46429372
For practical reasons we'll want some kind of orders for training/embueing advanced generals and units with elemental powers that we've been developing. The Voidknight Order is an example. But I'm not positive that the other powers can be passed down as easily.

If so, we'll probably end up making similar orders. We need to find a way to keep this from becoming a set of factions that are opposed to each other. I think necromancy is the thing binding them all together - Undeath is Eternity.
>>
>>46429372
We need much, much bigger numbers of living soldiers but that is not a bad idea. We could train or own hero units that way and once they die or willing volunteer, we'll turn them into reconstructed generals.
>>
>>46429403
I feel like the Armatocere would either be totally onboard with our 'serve after death' thing, or be utterly disgusted by it.

Alternatively, we could probably offer to cleanse world of Necrotic taint for them via uses of our glutton spheres (not giving it to them, obviously, just using them ourselves to clean shit for them). They said something about having problems with removing necrotic, didn't they?

>>46429428
The idea is more giving each set of generals a set of what essentially amounts to 'wizards' using that element, like our personal necromancers. Besides, our generals have their own strategies sure, but they could probably find some decent use for a set of what is essentially mages.
>>
>>46429372
I would prefer the Necrolytes proper remain a semi independent entity within the Armada, but I would dig a plan that sees mortals with the potential to use various energies under the tutelage of the orders. Maybe they could redeploy with the Necrolyte Legion for specific missions once they gained full mastery of their powers.
>>
>>46429421
Someone took issue with it a little further down the thread and it sparked some conversation/clarifications.

Honestly I kind of see where they're coming from with a lot of it? I love what's going on, but I can imagine it's pretty dry reading if you weren't there and involved when it was happening.

I've also felt kind of confused about how useful our units really are and unsure about what our numbers mean in the long run, but Grave's writing is nice enough that it hasn't really gotten in the way of enjoying things happening.
>>
>>46429468
>Alternatively, we could probably offer to cleanse world of Necrotic taint for them via uses of our glutton spheres (not giving it to them, obviously, just using them ourselves to clean shit for them). They said something about having problems with removing necrotic, didn't they?

If it's about the ore we sent them, they said that there was a trace of necrotic energy but that they had no trouble removing it. Akka-Tor's wraiths seem to have caused them trouble in the past though.
>>
>>46429242
He was so pissy in that review though. It was less of constructive criticism and more of a rant.
>>
>>46429497
This, I don't get how he got his knickers in such a twist at certain points, it's like he's taking the opposite conclusions we have.
>>
>>46429242
He had a point on the number-crunching not being relevant to the quest but i don't agree on his saying the plot is moving slowly

We learned many things so far and in an interesting manner
>>
>>46429491
I mean, it just seems like it could prove useful if we had more than one minion with each element; limiting magic powers to heroes seems inefficient when we could be doing something along the lines of the voidknight order, with Nekris looking for potential arc-wielders, and the others doing similar things.

Even if it only results in a handful of troops per element, they would still be highly capable combatants, far more useful than mooks, but not as tough as a hero. Like, Elite units, or lieutenants. Our generals are generals after all, might prove useful for them to have capable lieutenants beyond the occasional hero unit every so often, especially since not every mortal has the potential for hero-ins, but may have plenty of potential for being a regular mage-guy.

>>46429517
Eh, I can't remember, but it couldn't hurt to ask, right? Might show them that we're not the "DEATH TO THE LIVING" kind of undead that Akka-tor and the previous armada was.

Almost certain they have an idea of what we are and we're OK by them. Likely because we're not a backstabbing murderous bint.
>>
>>46429578
Yeah there are Disciples as the median between the Living Voidsingers and the fully undead Voidknights
>>
>>46429578
>Might show them that we're not the "DEATH TO THE LIVING" kind of undead that Akka-tor and the previous armada was.

I think they already know, but further cooperation with a race of plants that love life and growing can only help us in our image makeover.

Here the start
>>46420521
>>
>>46429468
>I feel like the Armatocere would either be totally onboard with our 'serve after death' thing, or be utterly disgusted by it.

We kinda already talked with them about our use of the Necrotic and they saw it as any power source as other. It is just bad for their health or something.
Doubt they would mind.
>>
>>46429630
I mean, if we become good enough friends we might be able to get a hold of a corpse or two to analyse. They probably have some plant-based-fertilizer funeral rites thing, but on the off chance they don't then if we become better friends maybe they'll let us resurrect their corpses.

I just wanna collect all the elements desu, the Armatocere totally have some 'Life' element opposite our necrotic, and I wanna see if it's even compatible with us. I mean, we got solar as an undead, right?

Also I want to treat collecting elements like pokemon, or have our generals summon us like captain planet
>>

>>

>>
>>46429717
Maybe if we're lucky, Grave can still be known as the QM of the fanbase that killed Reviewanon!
>>
>>46429737
Research on combining powers seems smart to me, like we should have been doing it all along. it's really jsut coming to the fore now since we got a third for jadky, although we could totally try combing with Magma/Arc as well.

Speaking of which, we should ask lavafather if he can make a mindless drone for us to drain, and then more and more till we develop magma for ourself. Also, we should be draining the akham captive we have to near death, then heal him up, then drain him again till we get arc.

I mean, think of the combos we could have from:
Necrotic/Arc = Lighting skeletons/Better cyborgs than the Confederates
Necrotic/Magma = Ghost rider, man
Necrotic

And so on and so forth

>>46429787
I just skimmed the first few posts of the review and it seems to me most of his points are "This is great, like a text rts, but the social aspects are lacking"
Which I can understand, but this is a Civ quest, This is exactly what I expected when this quest started, and more.
>>
We still need to streamline the number-crunching in the quest

It made sense for us to care when we just had a few units and holdings but we been moving up in scale since then
>>
>>46429817
We have a cap of 3 powers at the moment. We've lost Arc powers when we drank the Solar. Maybe once the powers stabilize and find harmony we will be able to reclaim it.
>>
>>46429937
We never personally had arc powers, man. We chose not to drain the akham we captured and Nekris drained the last one so HE got arc. We've never had arc at any point, sadly. Hence why I usually vote to drain the akham when we can.
>>
>>46429817
I'm pretty sure that, once we have a unit capable of manipulating an energy type, they can just give it to another unit via Cauldron (like how Eiton was made -- Nekris fed Arc energy to the Reconstructed until it was capable of generating the energy itself). Though, I'd rather just replicate specific functions of the energy types over to our normal units instead of creating specialized fusions of energy types -- it doesn't seem right that our cannon fodder be able to act like elite units (a la the Voidknights).
>>
>>46429980
That was when making a hero unit, and I'm pretty sure it drained nekris dry for a while after he did so, though I might be wrong.

What I'm suggesting isn't that we make mooks capable of using each element, but elite orders for each element, a la the voidknights. That way we don't have to realy on turning captured commanders into hero units every time we make a new one. Voidknights already have disciples training to become them, why not do the same with nekris/agona/dominator? That way we can have a cadre of elite troops under each one that they can deploy strategically wherever they need them.

Having more elite units for our generals to deploy when and where they're needed just seems like a good idea to me, is all.

Also I seriously want skeleton paladins (Skeledins?) to fight for us, and Arc Assassins has suck good alliteration!
>>
>>46429968
Eh, there isn't really any particular need for Jadyk to have Arc energy -- the not thing I can think if that relies on Arc to function that he'd care about is the Storm Gate tech; Arc, other than the FTL capabilities, only really has energy blasts going for it, and Void and Necrotic and Solar cover that function already.

And, I guess, Arc resistance. Which, yeah, would be useful when we go up against the Arkham...
>>
>>46430032
Eh paladins and Assassins are to chunni man
>>
>>46430036
I mean, not having an energy type when we COULD have an energy type seems silly to me. Glutton spheres could be useful but could be destroyed in combat by physical attacks. Plus, yeah, resistance to said element is always handy.

>>46430044
Dude. Really? We're a space lich. This is basically high magic fantasy + space, the sunscale are already paladins, why not make our own? I respect your opinion in regards to the assassins, but I honestly only called them that for the Awesome Alliteration Available in regards to the possible unit type. Would calling them Hunters be better to keep in theme with "Predator" Nekris?
>>
>>46430032
Digging this idea, we can have our generals oversee the education of mortals with innate connections to the energy they posses. And skele paladins would be badass and incredibly disconcerting to the sunscale.
>>
>>46430079
We already been giving our generals special titles for themselves

We don't need each one to become a separate orders

It gets tedious and kinda feels stretched out
>>
>>46429649
Thanks anon. Ya know, he actually does have a lot of good points. Maybe we should look into simplifying the numbers more? I'm not really sure how we'd go about it.
>>
>>46430121
I agree that the number crunching no longer feels relevant

Grave writing style is hella awesome and works more on narrative then referencing the number chart
>>
Guys, we should give void armor to our disciples, generals, voidsingers and ourself. And perhaps we should reshape or body into something more adapted to yield all these powers
>>
>>46430117
Lorghul did literally the same thing to find more void knights All we'd be doing is applying the same theory to other elements, which makes perfect sense to me. We could just have a bit where Jadyk asks his generals to look over the Best of the necrolytes to see if any have potential for their element.

Could even provide something for our necrolytes to aspire to, if the best (with potential) get hand picked to serve our highest generals.

And it seems no less complicated than adding new reconstructed to our troop list, to me at least.
>>
>>46430150
Pretty sure voidknights and disciples automatically equip all the void-based gear they can feasibly carry with them into battle, or at least thats what I've been assuming.

Personally, I enjoy how our guys are automatically equipped with the msot recent tech developments, saves us from situations where we're gimped because all the anon's forgot to mention that we should upgrade them.
>>
>>46430149
I personally, enjoy the number crunching. Kind of integral to RTS style mechanics, isn't it?
>>
>>46430196
I feel like it's the perfect balance, enough numbers to hold the Spreadsheetanons, and it's usually over pretty quick.

I usually compare this to HQQ, where things tended to get bogged down in "which unit has what" and "we need to replace X with Y on all Z's"
>>
>>46430196
But it no longer matter at all at this point

When we started out it made sense because we were operating at xcom level of play

Now we are more at a gal civ level and it hasn't kept up at all

And more of the battles are decided on our strategic choices than actual unit/ship control so trying to keep track of the generic ships and troops no longer matters
>>
>>46430165
All this unit type added to the troop list is making it boring as hell to go through

Are we even differentiating between the powers effects anymore at this point

Feels like just window dressing too be honest
>>
Blorp had the same issues in EVO and Orge Civ quest

He kinda abandon the number crunch aspect and shifted the quest on more narrative footing

It worked out for him and to be honest it feels Grave has the same style
>>
>>46430296
Window dressing and character interactions are interesting to see, and add to the world, at least, that's how I see it.

I mean, if we don't bother doing anything interesting, the whole quest would devolve into just piloting a ship from fight to fight with timeskips saying 'you built x amount of ships'.

I admit, it's rather hyperbolic, but still, window dressing and character interaction is the backbone of a good story as far as I can tell, but I'm no writer so maybe my opinion is shit anyways.
>>
>>46430338
Man, I miss Ogre Civ and EVO, they we're fun as shit. Even though there was virtually no point to even having dice in them.
The sheer insanity of them was awesome.
>>
>>46430339
The character interactions are a strong point of grave writing

But these power's are just weak and not well written and have no substance other than collect them all

Can we even differentiate between what void, necro or some of these new ones now?
>>
>>46430339
More character interactions are always good. Main reason why I wanted to contact the Armatocere.
>>
>>46430387
The point is less "These powers will be super useful" (Although they totally would be) and more adding fluff and troop types to our New Necrotic Armada will make the setting more interesting and engaging for the viewers.

Though at this point it's getting a bit meta so I'll just say my reasoning is "Because it's totally cool and useful tho".

And elements are absolutely still kept track of, the only reason it seems we're not is because we haven't run into too many situations involving them, which will likely change once we encounter more, bigger, and badder enemies.

A solar order, for example, would likely prove very efficient at countering Confederate Cyborgs, so even if its just mechanically DeadQM adding modifiers behind the screen doesn't make it any less useful to have just because we can't SEE the use. Also: having an order of undead paladins (Skeledins?) is awesome, and I don't understand how you could disagree.
>>
>>46430296
>>46430387
The powers are an integral aspect of the plot, which you would know if you bothered reading any of it. Solar energy is inherently destructive to most undead, and is apparently capable of generating shield puncturing weaponry, Jadyk's mastery of it will be a major turning point in the growth of the Armada. Void energy manipulates gravity fields and are massively destructive, both in infantry combat and naval warfare. I could go on about the history and significance of each of these energy types, as well as the factions that used them, but you do not strike me as the type to care about that sort of thing.
>>
>>46430296
>All this unit type added to the troop list is making it boring as hell to go through
I completely disagree with you. I fucking love tinkering with unit types and additions.
>>
>>46430507
It seems that Arc is also an integral part to straight-up teleporting if the Storm Drives are what I think they are. Curious what tech Magma could be used on though
>>
>>46430459
The setting is already gone through good world-building

Just constant additions will lead to bloat and slowdown

Stuff added for the sake of cool wont make a story good or engaging unless momentum can be kept and viewers see that there is a point to them

>>46430507
Where does this show up then? so far grave style for the battle has been more narrative then elemental rock paper scissors, the only interaction with the powers is as needed for plot tension as they should

I think this is a good point to stop for the night story wise. Thread is archived please vote for it if you can, though from now I'd prefer if I was the one doing the archiving. Just a preference.

I hope folks had fun, I know I did.

Now to address some things.

>Numbers
I'm going to be spending the week thinking about how I can improve and further streamline number crunch. Or even finding a way to do away with it or simplify it to an extreme. I personally spend too much time stressing over numbers my dyscalculia give me trouble with. Reviewanons review just reminded me how much this is one of my weaker fields and I thank him for that.

>Energy types
Admittedly I could do more to expand on the natures of the energy types. This will be something I focus further on. I have been planning more opportunities to showcase the abilities of the Generals, perhaps doing threads where they are the MC. The Predators have yet to show off their new abilities and Agona and Muic will need the chance as well. Same with Valresko now too.
Predators will live up to their names

>Energy imbued Troops
I was on taking a page from Destiny, one of the initial inspirations of the quest, and have there be living Necrolytes that can control the respective powers like the player classes of the game. The Predators get Arc powered Stalkers/Hunters that are about tracking and hunting, Voidknights got the Voidsingers which are voidpowered soldiers/Fighters, the Necromancers are the Warlocks, Agona's Magma powered Titans. There will be "lieutenant" undead for the powers similar to the Disciples.

It might be too much fluff but I feel it gives more depth to the different orders that the Generals will form. Thoughts?

Anything else I should address while I'm still here and no longer have a faucet of blood erupting from my nose? Always get the worse nose bleeds when sick
>>
>>46430563
>The setting is already gone through good world-building
>Just constant additions will lead to bloat and slowdown
So we should just be content with what we have and stagnate? Come on man, that's what led to the downfall of the last Necrotic Armada.

>Where does this show up then? so far grave style for the battle has been more narrative then elemental rock paper scissors
I'll be honest, I feel thats more because grave streamlines battles and the outcome is a result of "Did we have enough ships? Did we a way to counter X? Did we roll shit?" then writing the outcome based off of all present information. I get the impression that what we have plays a large part in battles but they're streamlined as a play-by-play space battle would be incredibly boring "you launch a volley. they launch a volley. you launch a volley. they launch a volley" ad infinitum with dodging interpersed. Thus having more ways to counter various weapons/elements we'll keep winning our battles. Remember: Stagnation is death.

>>46430611
Just finished writing this as you posted, figured I'd post it anyways
>>
>>46430563
Once again, I gotta say I completely disagree with like, everything you've been saying. I love fucking around with unit and ship designs and crunching the numbers needed for producing them in mass (which is mostly to answer my own curiosity and make sure we can afford it, Graves has his own spreadsheets). The cool shit directly contributes to the story if you had bothered to read it, The deployment of looms and shadows to station 88 was a shining example of that, they pulled things off that would have been impossible with other units. If you can't see how cool shit contributes to this quest, I really can't tell what you find fun anymore. And the powers are core part of the identity of almost all major powers we've dealt with, and has a determining role in our relationships with most of the characters and factions in this quest.

Seriously, I get you're only here for character interaction, but for those of us who pay a lick of attention to the empire building and actual plot, things are pretty damn good with the way Graves is running things.
>>
>>46430611
>Energy imbued Troops
Awesome, It feels weird to have lorghul be the only general with lieutenants desu, feels like favouritism to me; glad we'll give nekri/agona/Valresko some competent underlings.

Thanks for running!
>>
>>46430611
Thanks for running

The problem with the energy types it that they seem to be meaningless techno babble and don't really have any differences between what they do

And energy imbued troops seem redundant given your writing style for battles too be honest

the energy types only come up in either the climax like when we are attacking the boss with our hero units after we succeeded on reaching them
>>
>>46430611
>Agona's Magma powered Titans.
Hot. Fucking. Damn. This is going to be good. Thanks a lot for running dude, definitely enjoyed myself. And just to let you know I love the way you currently run this quest. The way you've developed the crunch and the fluff have made it great fun, and I'm looking forward to how the generals grow into their power.

But yeah, you miiiight want to think about seeing a doctor at this point.
>>
>>46430677
Dude really, look at the pastebins if you want some idea of how energy types work. And I still can't fathom how you came to the conclusion that energy types are irrelevant outside of particular instances, have you been reading the story?
>>
>>46430677
So your main objection to giving our generals lieutenants powered with their elements was because they don't seem to get much play? I can understand that, but don't you remember Lorghul and his voidknights in the three-way between Osijiic/Akham/Us? They had a lot of play there, having more moments like that would be pretty cool and entertaining, at least to me. And we would have more moments like that with more powered elites, and they'd show their stuff in moments like when we switch to Nekris PoV, we could have our elites providing intel and watching our back, or if we have an Agona PoV we could have the Titans helping us to Hold The Line against invaders, or if theres a Dominator PoV we could lead an undead crusade to purge a world of confederates/sunscales.

Honestly, the possibilities are huge if we add lieutenants; I respect your opinion, but it just seems like you're not thinking too hard about things.
>>
>>46430645
Our interactions with other factions and characters were more on motives and char history than anything about power type

And unit/ships design become redundant when it became possible to produce thousands and they in turn became disposable

This quest is good because grave writing is excellent at keeping mood and tension and not because of endless number crunching on units or power types
>>
>>46430746
Look, I get your point, and I can see where you're coming from, but can't you see that by adding unit types/ships/whatever we in turn give grave more material for him to spin into the proverbial gold these threads are made of?

And i think you guys are focusing on these at the expense of keeping story momentum

Just added more cast or powers with no substance does not help any story, they just become crutches

Grave is writing this and maintaining the excel sheets and we all seen quest were the qm leave because actual doing prep becomes too much of a pain
>>
>>46430746
Dude, this is just fucking wrong. You're selectively ignoring huge aspects of the lore and plot, as well as the combat itself. Don't you get that not everyone is only here for a single aspect of this quest?
>>
>>46430789
I feel like we should wait until grave actually complains that there's too many numbers before going all "we need to stop adding troops to have cool scenes so QM doesn't abandon quest" desu.

You seem to be panicing a bit anon; I can see where you're coming from but you're reasoning just seems rather flimsy to me. And we're not ALL here because of the one thing that YOU'RE here for, plenty of anons really enjoy the numbers and troop designs and so on, and I see no reason to go "LETS REMOVE IT ALL" just because you, personally, don't see the appeal of this one facet of the quest that others enjoy.

Fuck. Off. This quest is incredibly rewarding for those of us who actually like civ style mechanics. We like the powers, the characters, the mechanics, and the energy types, and you aren't convincing us otherwise.
>>
>>46430826
This. It's like he doesn't realize that Grave is just the evolved form of Jyoti, who got his start with Civ quests, and probably has, y'know, at least some small, tiny, bit of experience with handling and writing them. Almost like he's run them before.

Your pic says for anon to fuck himself with a cactuas, and all my captchas are cactuses. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
>>
>>46430819
>>46430826
Grave just admitted that the number crunching is becoming stressful for him

>>46430611
I'm going to be spending the week thinking about how I can improve and further streamline number crunch. Or even finding a way to do away with it or simplify it to an extreme. I personally spend too much time stressing over numbers my dyscalculia give me trouble with. Reviewanons review just reminded me how much this is one of my weaker fields and I thank him for that.

I think you guys are ignoring what happens to quests that start to become a pain in the ass to run

We all seen civ quest that burn out because they become too complex
>>
>>46430853
Except he literally just said he's going to be thinking of ways to reduce number crunch. Why not try to think of a way yourself other than "stop doing fun things forever".

Speaking of which, we could reduce number crunch by just upgrading terminology every time we 'rank up' in size, as it were.

Like, instead of X amounts of each unit type, we make reconstructed by the army or battalion, with each one having a set ratio of each type, with numbers restocked after battle at a price proportional to how many we lost? Also, we could just start cutting zeroes off our income if we did this, like the component reconstructed would have cost 10000 X and 25000 Y, but 1 battalion would cost 10 X and 25 Y, and our income isn't 57000 X and 67000 Y, but 57 kX and 67 kY.

Basically, just simplify the numbers themselves.

Alternatively, ignore me because I can't into math and am also an idiot.
>>
>>46430908
crunch isn't just about numbers in the end

you have to take into account organizing game mechanics, maintaining the cast sheet and what going on with the plot

And never ending expansion of units or powers just for the sake of adding things doesn't help with bloat
>>
>>46430962
Except, (if you're the anon I replied to) As you linked yourself, the numbers are WHAT he's stressed about.

And expansion is the name of the game in a galactic Civ quest. Seriously, how much of space do you honestly think we can hold with what we have now? The end goal is total domination, and our enemies are far more built up and dug in then we are. Gaining more troops/powers/ships is altogether necessary to achieve any of our current goals.
>>
>>46430611
Thanks for running Jyoti. Whatever you decide to do I'll keep showing up. You run a wonderful quest and I hope whatever adjustments you make work well.

Small preview of the abilities for the "orders"

Voidknights/Disciples/Voidsingers: Destructive void blasts/voidflame, gravity manipulation, density manipulation

Predators/Hunters: Short range teleports/blinks, lightning blasts, personal cloaking

Punishers/Titans: Extreme heat generation, molten loogies, lavaswords, limited geokinesis

Dominator: TBD

Necromancers: Necrotic blasts, telekinesis, great singing voices

I'm going to work more on what sets these powers and abilities apart from each other beyond combat abilities, don't worry.

The Void Sings, the Solar Sustains, the Necrotic Consumes, the Arc Connects
>>
>>46431050
>The Void Sings
>Necrotic: great singing voices

So, can we get the most musical member of each elemental group, and form a band? If "Void sings" means that voidknights can use their power to make sounds, it becomes an even better idea, with void-infused instruments.

Jor on vocals, Lorghul on guitar, Nekris on keyboard, Dominator on bass, Agona on Drums

Scene with Jadyk walking in and showing up Jor with his Hype as fuck singing voice when?
>>
>>46431050
Most of those abilities will not be used in depth you know right? I understand for plot purposes when writing boss battles but how are you going to keep track of all that?
>>

>>
>>46431107
>but how are you going to keep track of all that?
I feel like that question makes as much sense as asking that to his descriptions of different ranged weapons or between a bludgeoning and piercing weapon. There is always going to be shit to keep track of, and this shit is actually fairly straightforward.

I do plan on using the setting in future projects. It's been a hard decision finally coming to this conclusion. I did not want to see the end of the Red Throat either.

I'll get better at that too
>>
>>46431759
Ah, I see.

Did everyone of the Blackscales has combat role or are there also civilians among them? Can some of them come live in our capital?
Also can we fix their hopscotch ressurections and make them look nice and healthy instead of being rotting and full of tumors?
>>
>>46431960
I'm kinda hoping our experiments with the living and the cauldrons will yield a way to shape the flesh of the living without killing them. Alternatively maybe we could try marking them like we did David, that may provide a means of improving their overall health.

Next game story wide things to work on

Jaydk giving Jor a think tank to learn from after giving him a private lesson in using the power necrotic

Once Jor is skilled start Inducting the potential necromancers (also make a temple for them to study in)

Meditating upon the solar power we have gained to better understand it's potential

Speaking with the ructu about creation of a capital. We should probably ask permission before building a giant "look at how awesome we are" city

Interrogate (furoughly) reverse lieutenant Dan "deaths head ain't got no arms" and then convert him
>>
Oh and we've on plenty forgotten about the human commander we captured we should get to interrogating him but might I suggest a different approach

"Floats in on throne before human prisoner"
Sorry about the delay when it comes to running a growing galactic empire you unfortunately fell off my schedule now today in going to try a different approach of interrogation because I am busy and you can be d use

Question 1 are you physically stronger then a albino sunscale chosen commander?
No?
Good.

2. Do you believe yourself to have a mental fortitude greater then that of a heavily indoctrinated albino sunscale commander only just this side if crazy on the religious zealot scale?

No?
Good.

I broke one yesterday in under an hour until he was telling me all of his greatest secrets (flourish solar flame)

Now that is out of the way I have questions and you will answer them truthfully and immediately or you will find out first hand why I made an albino cry (claps hands together enthusiastically) now let's get this over with

I hope so too. Though I don't think their actual health is bad only that they look like they're on the verge of death.
We should strive to make our anesthetics look pristine and clean. Perhaps it is time to reshape our body into something that looks less like a shambling skeleton.

Interesting fact about the bulge
Basicly they ha to get a magician in to do the juggling tricks involving the glass balls requiring said magician to Neal with his head basically in David crotch after one particularly sweaty day of filming David felt bad for the poor juggler and put a pouch of potpourri down the front to give the poor guy a break

The director thought it looked hilarious and incorporated the look into the rest of the film

>Buddy the human reporting ready to begin his job as a smuggler, even selecting a few of his "friends" to join him. A crew of humans, vorh, kesh and a few netu to assist him in his trafficking of the Narcotikelp crop into the Confederacy of Planets.

Do we need to personally attend to this? If he's ready, then let him go. Unless he needs something. He can request whatever he wants for this mission.

It just happened to be the pic I had of an alien city. Doesn't look like that, more like the architecture of the Hive from Destiny mixed with Forerunner. Once Hard-light tech is finished the city will glow

>>46436268
It's more like granting him permission and officially sending him away. Don't even have to be present to do so, just send a Demi-think tank or a Talon or something once he's picked out his own place.

The colonists are picking buildings and homes close to the plaza while the Necrolytes are picking out one of the larger buildings to house their planet based barracks. Their main base and barracks are still on the moon where they are trained, armed and prepped for missions. The barracks in Iti'a'Ropku (still hope that's a good name) are for their downtime.

The Osogo have taken special "barns" set up at the edges of parks of grass and bushes and trees full of food for their home in the city.

So far your Stonestar that live in the tunnels before have not come to the surface in large groups. A few joined the surface while keeping a safe distance from their loyalist kin during the ceremony and introduction but they have been told they are allowed to come to the surface if they wish. They are refugees, not prisoners.

>>46435433
>>46432775
Really liking that Smiles. But yeah, I saw him as eyeless like the Punishers and the majority of Reconstructed, the skull perfectly smooth except for his frill/crest and the bone cracking open for his mouth. Otherwise that is pretty perfect.

>>46431960
Not so much civilians. The Blackscale were the only living members, at least in this Cabal. The rest of their crew are reanimated Sunscale and other aliens, most of them cyborged up for combat. This means they do have some humans, vorh, etc, as just regular reanimated zombies similar to the ones you can make but have had no reason to in a long time.

>Once Hard-light tech is finished the city will glow
Great. I hope that our city will be nothing what one would imagine an undead civilization capital would look like. Maybe we can ask the plant friends help to make much more vibrant parks and greenery in the city. Shame we didn't think of this when building the city.

Then let's send Buddy away, make sure we tell him he can request supplies if he wants to. After all, we want the mission to be successful.

Did the city have any protection from orbital bombardment?

I like the name of the city. In fact, I like the way you name things and don't give option for the players to come up with the names since they don't often work out.

You still have yet to develop shielding capable of protecting against orbital attacks Hint, where did you get your Reinforced Shielding tech from?
