So, what is this thread about?

Well, a couple of days back /tg/ created a very unique craftworld. Its characteristics were

>encountered by the imperium in m39, floating around long before that.
>An Ice world biome
>Primarily women warriors
>Jetbikes and shit
>Followed the path of awakening/Dreaming.

So we ended up creating Warcraft Nightelves on ice IN SPACE.
Previous thread was here.

What DEldar units are we talking here? What coven/kabal?
>>
>>46389540
Let someone else roll out the kabal. After all other anons should have their chance. Maybe it was the kabal whose leader Markus killed.
Maybe it was an upcoming archon who wanted to drag back the Dark Eldar killers to Commoragh.

The Craftworlds of the Eldar originated from among those few last sane individuals who foresaw the coming end of their people, and fled their homes aboard great ships known as Craftworlds. And though it was plain to any with eyes to see that the end was coming, none could have forseen the birth of Slaanesh or the death of the entire Eldar civilization in one cataclysmic explosion of excess and death.

Craftworld Bel'Aslyn was composed of Eldar who saw the end coming early on, their dreams disturbed by prophetic visions of great calamity just as their waking hours were disturbed by the distressing insanity of their debauched kin. It was decided then that they would depart from Eldar space, and ride out the coming cataclysm - hopefully short lived! - in the cold comfort of deep chronofrost slumber, dreaming in torpor of the shining days of their Empire, blissfully unaware of the goings on of the greater universe as they lived in a simulation of their societies highest days, before the decline. With a select group of iron willed volunteers known as the Wakeful assigned to watch over the sleepers, the Craftworld would speed off into the emptiness of space, seeking refuge to wait out the fall in silence.

None of them realized their long sleep would stretch for hundreds of thousands of years.

Cut off from their people and horrified by the fall and the birth of Slaanesh, the Wakeful did all they could to psychically shield the sleeping Dreamers, who remained unaware of the horrors that befell the universe as they slept in stasis. Kept in this state, the Dreamers could theoretically live forever, safe from the existential angst of their own races demise, as well as the depredation of Slaanesh.
>>
>>46390164
perfect. I would like to propose a small change to this, if its alright with you.
>>
File: SnoElf2.jpg (242 KB, 1600x900)

>>46390164
Uncertain of how to proceed, the Wakeful decided the best thing they could do was to protect their sleeping charges, leaving them hidden on uninhabited maiden worlds on a distant system while they themselves kept a silent, grim watch over their slumbering kindred. They knew that to awaken from the pleasant dream the Dreamers now experienced, into the horrible reality with which the Eldar now lived, would be cataclysmic and soul shattering. For the sake of the charges they had sworn to protect, they left them in deep sleep far, far longer than originally intended.

So it went for thousands of years that they remained in isolation, caring only for the millions of Eldar souls kept trapped in the illusion of the dream, even as the universe went to madness around them. Indeed, it would not be until the 38th Imperial Millenia that humanity would even encounter these reclusive Eldar, so dedicated to isolationism they were, that they would ignore even the outside need of their surviving kindred. Such was their reasoning - that only the Eldar that remain untainted by the reality of Slaanesh, and the horrors of the fall, were the true and pure Eldar of the past. Because of this, it would only ever be with great reluctance and much ritual that any Eldar would ever be awoken from the sleep to replenish their numbers, even as the forces of the Watcher's dwindled to alarmingly low levels.

see, the change is this. A large part of them are sleeping below siberis. Its a large part of the reason why the huntmaster has become a deity on the planet. Basically the imperial settlers start worshipping this entity that is basically the world spirit of the planet Siberis. They call it the huntmaster. It has interesting implications for the chapter of death's consuls, and allows for a plot point between the two factions.

>>46390221
The Ritual of Awakening, known among the Bel'Aslyn as the Dying of Purity, took place over many months or even years. It involved an Empathetic Watcher psychically invading the dreams of a select Eldar, testing and probing their psyche for susceptibility for corruption, the courage to face death, and the resilience to withstand the mental shock of awakening into the true world. In order to do this, the Empath incepts a dream within the dream of the chosen - to them, it will seem as if when they 'sleep' within their illusion that they have disturbing, even frightful dreams. This is done with care both as to not damage the sleeping Eldar or to arouse suspicion about the nature of their 'world'. Should the Eldar prove suitable in these dreamscape tests, they will eventually be offered a subconscious choice - reject the world they know as false and enter the true world, with all it's horror and despair, or embrace the comfort of the dream. Those who accept on this subconscious level then undergo the process of therapeutic
defrosting, awakening them from their long hibernation so they can join the ranks of the Watchful in the realm of the living.

>>46390238
I read that and it's an interesting idea I considered. I doubt the Eldar would TELL the Imperials the real reason they saved the world, though, as that would put their people at risk. It does create an interesting dichotemy that the Eldar are forced to aid those Imperial worlds (or at least protect them from destruction) even though the Imperium is one of their enemies (their Autarch was slain by Space Marines, remember).
>>
>>46390294
no, its more like the Consuls figure it out themselves and because the inquisition knowing about it would result is blamming for the world, they keep a lid on it. So basically, both parties have aligned goals - that is the protection of siberis, and work together whenever the need arises,

Kinda like the imperium and the eldar in the good old days
>>
>>46390323

>>
>>46390323
I like it. Originally the Eldar rolled Orks/Daemons as their enemys, and it's not specified in the chart whether the Space Marines that kill the Autarch are Imperial Space Marines or CSM. Of course the Eldar would rather the humans GTFO their planet, but they're stuck in a situation much like the Necrons in the Confederacy are - fighting the humans occupying their world would result in their destruction. So an understanding by the Space Marines not to fuck around with any mysterious slabs of frozen Eldar they may fight (and even to 'discourage' exploration in the regions they suspect the Eldar hole up) and the Eldar have no choice but to not knife them in the back springs up. With any luck they can direct the forces of the Confederacy (explaining why Eldar pirates harass THOSE planets), into destruction against the Orks they've led here to wipe out the threat the Necrons pose to the Maiden worlds here, as well as extinguish any potential for Chaos incursion.

We've, completely randomly, created a sort of Good vs Evil MMO set up with the factions. Albiet one of such an uneasy alliance they could still turn on each other at any moment and possibly do.

>>46390388
The color scheme I gave them isn't anything final, just something meant to look Icy or Snowy, to blend in. Spacewolves Grey and Fenris Blue

I like the fluff of the Death Consuls and their connection with Bel'Aslyn but, honestly, I *really* don't like their color scheme. I don't think black-and-white works well in that manner (and I don't usually like black in large quantities in models in general).

>>
>>46401309
Nah, I left the black there intentionally to help break-up the light colors, because I think nothing but purely winter-y colors make it a little too flat. It's just a suggestion of mine, but I'm married to it.
>>
hey, skitarii, once you are done painting your chapter, you should try putting that in the DoW2 army painter
>>

actually, try using a tinge of green to break it up. I am curious as to how it will look. An aquamarine color would be icy enough
>>

I don't have DoW2, sorry, plus I'm on mobile, which is why it takes me so long to paint them in the painter.

I'm not liking these colors I'm using, but anons said that they wanted Ice world/Snow inspired colors.

I'm having a hard time with it.

However, the gray on the shoulders and chest is too similar to the black and silver(?) on the rest of him. I said that in the other thread.

Another thing, when posting a color scheme, don't give him wargear until the final scheme is chosen, that way we can see what they'll look like naturally.

The enchantments on the blades of Bel'Aslyn are potent. Largely out of contact with their kin, the remaining Craftworlders decided long ago to wage war in a way that would make them unique among their kin. The first exarch who became the avatar of the bloody handed, had a blade that was enchanted with runes of ice. Until that dire hour, the Craft world didn't need to feed the god of murder and ask for his protection.

The Craft world would save the eldar by drawing the world spirit into the craftworld, while the Seer council would stand united and freeze the planet solid. In this way, they hoped to defeat the tyranid advance that would otherwise feast upon their sleeping kin.

The beastly intelligence that guided the ravening hordes assaulted the place where the ritual was conducted. If it consumed the seer council, the craftworld would die a slow death. In this most dire of circumstances, the Bloody handed god's avatar set forth.

To the wonder of the eldar, it didn't burn with the infernal fires of the bloody handed one, it glittered as though it were a being of ice. The weapon it carried burned with a flame that chilled their bones and benumbed their fears.

Led by this unknown apparition of the wargod, the eldar defended the ritual and thus managed to save the souls of their sleeping kin. As the ritual concluded, the entire planet was draped in thick clouds and blinding snowstorms. As the avatar finally disintegrated, the once glittering maiden world was a floating chunk of ice.

Ever since that day, the craftworld has taken to engraving the runes of frost on their weapons.
>>
>>46425742
That would have had to be a pretty recent occurrence in the craftworlds history, right? Also what hive fleet did they fight?
>>
>>46425842

It cannot be too recent, and they might have fought the same hive fleet that is plaguing the sector.

>>
>>46425892
The reason I ask is because Tyranids only come onto the setting in the last couple centuries of m41, so if the craftworlds entire theme is ancient ice runes and abilities, then maybe it should be a different enemy that they first unleashed it on to freeze the world.
