/tg/ - Traditional Games

You work your way down the hill the cabin rests on back near the totems in the clearing. You find a patch of long grass and lay in it. You take the time to dirty your robes for a better chance at staying hidden.

You lay looking at the sky. It's early evening and you haven't felt this exhausted since... well you haven't ever felt this exhausted.

You close your eyes and drift into a deep sleep. You dream you are walking down a never ending road... after a while you hear laughter. The same laugh from the woods. Two glowing red eyes appear in front of you and you spring awake, gasping for breath.

You wake up with your tome and it's holder removed from your belt, laying within arms reach. Your medallion however, is gone. A single black feather lays on your chest.

You look at the feather and back to the cabin. You're pissed off, but the prayer focus doesn't really do anything special, it's value is sentimental at best, helps keep you calm. Besides, there are more important things to do, it's already your second sunrise out here, you need to get moving.

You secure your tome to your belt and grab your spear before heading into north into the woods.

As you begin making your way into the woods you notice a small stone path to some old ruins up ahead, like a broken down guards tower or something. The plants have completely overtaken the path and the tower.

Further north the woods only seem to get thicker, and you notice an larger amount of webs. You were warned about spiders.

You follow the old road cautiously. Strange flowers seem to be growing here. Roses and vines.

As you step into the tower a shiver goes down your spine. The room is completely overgrown. An old suit of armor lays against the wall, filled completely with plants.

To it's side you spot an old, slightly rusted sword. You let out a sigh of relief, finally something goes right for you. At least, assuming you can pull the thing out of there.

You vines give way as you pull the sword out, getting only a few minor cuts along your hand, but nothing serious.

Looking over the short sword it still seems in usable condition. The moaning of the plants seems to stop. There doesn't appear to be anything else here, so you move on to the next floor. As you make your way up the old steps you you begin to notice lots of remnants of shed skin. You slowly take steps forward, your guard up, getting a view of the second floor.

Bones are laid about the room, as well as several statues of various animals as well as the occasional person. The statues are beautiful, eerily life life even...

A thought enters your head that you don't even want to think about, you tense up. If your suspicions are correct, and whatever did this is living here you don't want to be here when it comes back.

You try to think rationally. It's entirely possible that someone could have carved these themselves... but the expressions of fear on most of their faces, and the creeping sense that something about this place is just down right wrong, tell you otherwise. The shed skin tells you this place is the den of a serpent, highly intelligent and cruel creatures, extremely talented at using the powers of the gift.

If anything had the power to do... this, it would be the gift. Every human and beast uses the gift a little bit, even if they don't realize it, it's what separates them from animals. Back in the kingdom, the gift is used to heal wounds and save lives, but you've heard stories of people who could use it to shape branches into iron clubs or rose petals into birds. It's the power of the gods, it's only limitations are it's users ability to control it.

You rush out of the tower as fast as possible. As you exit you can finally breathe a little easier. You look into the woods and far in the distance you see a small creature, about the size and shape of a wolf or dog, with glowing red eyes staring back at you.

You try and ignore the red eyed creature and move onward into the webbed forest. As you look around your surroundings you notice the red eyes. Every few minutes, when you turn back, without seeing them move, they are the same distance away. No closer, no further, always staring.

You speed up. The trees get thicker, the webs larger. You start cutting through branches trying to get away from the stare of the creature.

You're ready to break out into a sprint when a drop of blood lands on your face from above. You look upwards and notice something you didn't see before. Bodies hanging down from the treetops suspended by webs. Most of the bodies seem human. Coming from in front of you, you hear the thrashing and screeching of some kind of bird or harpy.

>This Forest is infested by the following:
>One or several sentient and possibly armed, lizardmen.
>Nymphs that are probably beautiful, but will just as likely eat you the first chance they get.

A massive arachne lowers itself down on a web, you realize you don't have time for this. You pull your sword away from the web.

"What are you doing? You can't stop now!"

You cleave your through one of her wings. Her scream echoes through the woods. It doesn't go all the way through at first, but with the second swing, it's separated, and she quickly passes out. You start cutting through the second one and catch before she hits the ground. You try your best to carry her over your shoulder and run as fast as you can. You here a thud as the arachne hits the ground and the sound of it scurrying quickly behind you. It's gaining on you.

You can almost feel the breath of the arachne on your back, but you just keep running, showing no signs of tiring. You dart past the dropping arachne and rush through the forest as best you can, avoiding branches and jumping over logs. You run for so long you feel like you're going to be sick, but in the distance you see a clearing in the trees, and through the clearing, you see the shining white walls of your kingdom. You're so close now. You just need to last the evening and one last night.

You look back into the woods and see no sign of the arachne, only a pair of red eyes.

I don't like having the outcome predetermined, so I don't actually know yet.

Originally, before the "cut her wings off" suggestion, I had no intention of her living.

She was there to show same kinds of "beasts" can vary drastically in looks, as well as that beasts do prey on each other, not just humans.

I don't plan on punishing my players for being creative and getting good rolls, so there are no plans to go out of my way to kill her. That being said I am worried this will lead down a path of waifuing and monstergirls... The very things I set out to avoid when writing this quest.

>>46373004
Hey Huntsman someone tried to archive this for you go check it out.
>>
I don't really get how a 15 year old's reaction to seeing a trapped harpy is to cut its wings off.
>>
>go fuck myself
>harpy catches me strocking my dick
>gives me a blowjob
>feels weird but ok yolo
>cum buckets
>new fetish aquired
>>
>>46373038
Huh, other than the title I think it's pretty good.

Is there a way to change that? It should probably called Beast Hunter Quest Part 2, just so it can be found more easily if people go looking for it you know?
>>
>>46373094
Email LL and tell him about it.

The harpy dies of blood loss, problem solved.
>>
I'm really glad you decided to run this, I knew my initial ribbing would pay off! I didn't. It was a shot in the dark. But it turns out it worked in the end.
Thanks for pulling through, Huntsman.
>>
>>46373265
Honestly, thank you! I don't think I would have ever run it otherwise. I owe you one.
>>
>>46373323
Many wishes for good runs to come.
>>
So can you explain why beasts all look different? I doubt it's just some crazy as fuck sexual dimorphism.
>>
>>46373509
I've kind of enjoyed giving exposition in very small amounts as it comes up more, though I suppose the MC knows so I'll go into it a little more.

All beasts are unique, but they usually fit into a few categories. Harpy just refers to a bird-beast. Harpy's might have bird heads and human hands, or wings instead of arms, or wings in addition to arms.

There are general rules for dealing with beasts but even within the categories their personalities vary.
>>
>>46373584
So harpies could run from Monmusu to literally bipedal bird? Cool.
>>
>>46373778
All beasts are like that. That's part of the reason the MC had trouble telling if Greentooth was just an extremely humanoid serpent, or a man-eater (crocodile).
>>
>>46373872
Crocodile monster girls? Be still my heart.

All monsters are shit right? No good ones like Unicorns or KiRin?
>>
>>46373887
No,thanks.
>>
>>46373915
Can we be friends with unicorns and fauns?
>>
>>46374071
Eh, it's a little weird. Generally humans living inside the kingdoms say yes, all monsters are shit, though some can be reasonable and deals and negotiations can be made. Nobody would ever really say they're GOOD though.

They're very nature kind of dictates that they aren't very good people, even if they aren't necessarily BAD people.

The humans outside the walls are way more likely to get along with the passive beasts, like Harpies and Nymphs, sometimes even the scarier ones. Beasts generally hate the people of the kingdom and vice versa.

I'm still not completely done the world building or anything, but currently there are no unicorns or Kirin or plans for them.
>>
>>46374106
Nymphs are basically fauns. They're deer people, and they're beautiful and shallow cowards.
>>
Stop giving away answers anon! Part of what I like about your quest is the mystery!
>>
>>46374461
I mean, I spoilered it.

Also I'm actually sick and have the rest of the day off, so I don't really have anything better to do. Though I should probably stop.
>>
>>46374489
Get well, Anon.
>>
>make quest thats the perfect anti monster-girl quest
>anons dick the train right off its rails in the second thread
10/10 this is going places
>>
>>46375170
not yet, we've not dicked anyone, just saved a harpy's butt and might get our amulet back for her.
>>
>>46375170
Her only personality trait so far is "Not wanting to be eaten."Plus we saved her life by mutilating her, it's not like she's gonna be in love with us. Hell she might even be pissed. Why is everyone acting like saving her means she has to suck our dick?
>>
>>46375354
Because we're gonna make her suck our dick.
>>
>>46375170
I don't think the harpy girl is going to fall the man who cut off her wings, Anon.
>>
>>46375764
Then we'll chain her up, keep her on a leash. Nobody in the kingdom will argue cause she's just a beast. Mind break her till she loves us.
>>
>>46375856
Stop. What is wrong with you?
>>
>>46376502
He must come from /d/ or some place.
>>
What is the Kingdom's stance on pet harpys? I wouldn't mind keeping her around, can't release her into the wild without wings.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1XgFsitnQw
>>
>>46378301
Not until everyone accepts the pure love of our soon to be mindbroken harpy
>>
>>46378851
I mean, we could probably do it. From what I understand, owning a beast might be more acceptable than just bringing one in.
>>
>>46378301
We are here forever
>>
>>46378851
Let the harpy die we mutilated it all it can do is suffer, we can find a nice human woman to hold hands with.
>>
In my defense I wasn't doing is for fetish reason, I was doing it because ya know, it ain't right to leave a sentient for dead if you can save it. Unless it's obviously evil/going to try to kill you.
>>
>>46379518
Clearly we just need to master the gift and make her a real boy. Er... Girl. If it can make people into statues it should be able to do that.
>>
>>46378301
;)
>>
>>46379903
We could always have her trained in medical aid and weapon/armour care, in return we keep her fed and alive. No point in killing the harpy now and it can't go back to being in the wild so we should make a deal. No fucking her though i would rather no have the game be cluttered with waifus and shit.
>>
>>46380698
Would her talons really be the best for medical aid?
>>
>>46375856
Alternatively, we slowly mindbreak the QM until he loves monster girls.
>>
>>46380698
>Harpy medic
I want this.
>>
>>46382288
>>
>>46384164
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! <3
>>
did the QM ever say when he would run again?
>>
>>46385320
dunno but im impatiently waiting for this to start up again
>>
>>46385320
>>46385992

I was just shit posting until he acknowledges us.
>>
>>46386183
seems like a smart plan
>>
>>46386183
He'll notice us soon. ;_;
>>
Let this die, jesus christ. He'll be back later today or tomorrow for sure.
>>
Next part coming sometime this weekend probably, maybe even tomorow, but right now I'm sick, so we'll see where it goes.

This thread has been running almost 24 hours since the quest itself ended, so it's probably time to let it die.

Any updates on when the quest will be running will be posted on my Twitter

https://mobile.twitter.com/ExcaliburQM

Im heading to bed, goodnight anons.
>>
>>46387390
>no trip
>using the same link already posted on this thread
>Info from earlier messages.

Ya I'm not buying it.
>>
Wait wait wait are the you the same huntsman that ran ranger quest?
>>
>>46387611
Doesn't have the same trip, so I doubt it.
>>
>>46387950
True though that was around three years ago
>>
>>46388559
Fair enough, his trip could have been lost in that time. Though he has a different name for another quest of his, so idk. Doesn't matter as much for me.
>>
>>46388559
am still hopeful for huntsman to return if i wasn't bad at storytelling i would try to do it myself
>>
>>46388862
remake it or somethingl like it
>>
>>46388862
I too hope he will one day return, I loved that quest for as sort a time as it lasted anyway
>>
>>46387611
This guy said it was his first question I think, so I doubt it.
>>
>>46387471
It really was me

>>46387611
I'm not, sorry.

>>46392205
Not my first, but the other is so different it feels like it might as well be.

If I feel I've gotten enough prepared, I'll be continuing this Quest tonight. If not, it'll likely be tomorrow.
>>
>>46393331
On second thought, with the april fools thing going on, maybe I'll just wait till tomorrow.
>>
>>46393346
Sounds like a plan.
>>
>>46395159
OH MY GOD. LET THIS THREAD DIE.
>>
>>46393346
Looking forward to it, it's fun to read something else by you.
>>
>>46393331
So is OPMUQ on hiatus while this is going on?
>>
>>46398402
Presumably since he doesn't have four arms and two brains.

Sad day.

This quest seems cool though.
>>
>>46398402
>>46398478

Actually the plan is to continue OPMUQ as a once a week thing, while I'm still working out a schedule for this Quest.

It might get a little tiring so we'll see how things go.
>>
>>46398901
Can I request OPMUQ where we are struck by an arrow and given unlimited power in the form of a stand? You watch part 4 yet?
>>
>>46399669
I dunno, the idea sounds pretty great, but I wouldn't want to alienate people too much.

As for part 4.
How do I say... It's a bit crude but... I got... A boner.
