Let's make a setting!
Ideas:
Animals have ascended to human-level intelligence, but still behave like animals (Foxes kill and eat rabbits, crows still hoard shiny objects).
The Rabbits have burrowed down into the depths of the earth, creating massive collective warrens.
The Wolves are a warrior culture living in the snowy forests of the north, collecting into small tribes.
The Octopus have vanished off the face of the earth, leaving strange idols and arcane technology behind.

TL;DR grimdark fantasy zootopia

How is carnivore confusion avoided? Is eating other creatures accepted as a fact of life, or are the meat eaters cruel? Do they eat a class of non sapient animals?

Anyway, the bats live in a republican alliance with owls. They have a superiority complex due to being the only flying mammals
>>
It depends on the species. For most herbivores and omnivores, consuming the flesh of other animals is looked upon as a evil act. For predators, however, it is simply a fact of life.

Makes sense

Historically most cultures were proud of victimizing other peoples. Raiding other tribes was normal, but someone taking YOUR cattle was evil and unrighteous
>>
>>46273930
Also, omnivores do ally with herbivores, but are considered "tainted" due to their ancestors consuming flesh.
>>
>>46273930
Why would omnivores think it's evil to eat meat? Omnivores kind of need to eat meat to be healthy.
>>

One of the most prevalent religions in the Wilderness speaks of a Garden of Eden-like state, where all animals lived in peace. However, the first Carnivore was corrupted by consuming the flesh of another. His ancestors became the Carnivores, who are considered "demons" by most herbivores.
Also they have basically no idea about science.
>>
Friendly reminder that meat eaters are almost always more intelligent than non-meat eaters

Herbivores and to some degree omnivores would be kind of dumb and tribal
>>

Well, obviously. Why else would you make an enemy with something that has teeth the size of your arm?
>>
>>46274209
Anon, you're an omnivore... right?
>>

Is there an issue here?

Filthy obligate
>>
All the otter worships OYSTERIOUS, believing they are descendant of dwarf, oyster and sea blobs. They build ship and sea farming
>>
>>46274981
wait, dwarves?
>>
It's possible the predators would be more likely to unite against a common enemy than the prey due to fear. That way you'd be more likely to see a Fox/Hawk army than a Rabbit/Deer army.
>>
Occasionally, you'll see the odd trading caravan, run by Crows. Supposedly, there is a massive meeting of these caravans, called "The Black Bazzar", every few years.
>>
Just to be sure, there is no existence of humans or any kind of fantasy counterpart in this scenario, right?
>>
>>46276080
nope.
>>
>>46276120
So domestic animals and that kind of shit don't exist or there are any of them around for some reason?
>>
>>46276319
There are a few "Unenlightened" animals, but using one for heavy labor is considered slavery, and is generally looked down upon. This did not stop the Crows, however.
>>
So I'm figuring that fish would be the primary meat meal, unless the Predator in question was 100% starvibg
>>
>>46276759
Actually, some Predator tribes eat their dead. Not only is it the most practical option, but they believe that the experience and instincts of the one consumed are passed to the one who consumes the body.
>>
>>46276833
It isn't common, but it does happen.

Sounds like an offering by old/dead Herbivores.

IIRC, eating your dead is still cannibalism and can mess up your body if done too often
>>
>>46276957
where do you think they get so many corpses?
>>
>>46276957
Spooky
>>
>>46273498
The Wombats have burrowed so much and built so many cities underground that it is said that one could cross the entire continent without seeing the sunlight once.

Is there a writing system and unified languages? Once a group can coordinate, they become much more dangerous
