The rising sun shines upon you, as you are laying on the rocky ground. Last night you have woke up in the middle of a winter-forest, with nothing but your tattered clothing, a rope-belt, and a knife. You have been chased by monsters trough half the forest and took shelter under a tree. The most peculiar is, that you have no personal memories before yesterday.
All you have is your skill to survival, your meager belongings, and the unbreakable will to survive.

You look around and take back your previous statement; most peculiar thing right now, is that you aren't in the same location you were a minute ago. Yes there are still trees, but they aren't the snow covered pine trees you maneuvered during last night. They are wide oaks, and long breech trees, with lush vegetation everywhere. It looks like spring. The river and the waterfall where you stopped last night, is nowhere in sight.

and I am a newfag at QM-ing. We'll make a fine team anon

You sit down where you stand. Right where there should be a half-bent tree above you, to protect you from the whistling cold wind, and snow. Instead, a warm beam of sunlight caresses your back, while the birds tweet around you happily.

You take a deep breath in and out. Without any other clues of what happened to you, you examine the closest piece of evidence; yourself

Your torn shirt still barely covers your back, and your front is just one big hole. A makeshift belt made from a piece of rope binds a knife and a tattered pants to you. On your left leg, the piece of clothing stops above your knee.

You examine closer. Some of the tears look different than the others, like they would have been made with sharper things. You also surprised to see that where you fell and scratched yourself yesterday is nothing but healthy skin.

No, that's not right.

Your skin is coarse and slightly tanned, but where used to be flesh-wounds, the skin is slightly lighter, like someone just played a little roughly with you. Looking deeper, there are thicker, longer, and even lighter marks. Looking closer, they are all over you; your arms your legs, your chest.

The knife is the only thing that's not worn on you. Dull grey, and moderately sharp. Five inch long and one inch wide. No signs of use can be seen on it. However on the bottom of the handle there is an "I". Not just a nick, a stylized "I"

You find the signs of a beast. Fresh hoof prints in the ground, torn of branches, below waist height. Probably a boar. You follow it swiftly, with your knife in hand, running in a bent position in the low tunnel it brought among the underbrush.

After an forty minutes or so, you finally see it; a big hog with white tusks, making itself busy among the roots of a tree. Scratching with it's hooves, and snorting into the ground.
How will you catch it?

You take the blade between your teeth, and sneak closer. Once in sufficient distance, you start to scale a tree. Careful not to touch the branches, and alert the prey with your nestling, you climb higher and higher. Once in sufficient height, you take one last look on the boar, then dive in.

You land elegantly, driving your sole, and your knife into the back of the boar. your victim starts to squeal horridly, trashing around. With your free leg you clam yourself onto it, and pull out your knife to plunge it back into the terrified mammal immidiatley. The trashing weakens as you strike more and more into your soon-to-be dinner. Finally, it stops.
You get down from the bleeding body, your pants red and wet.

You know that without a shelter to drag it back into, dragging around the carcass would be unnecessarily tiresome. So you kneel down beside the hog, and start to open it up. You can skin it, or take out it's more delicious parts, or...

*CAW*

You look around a bit startled. After a little looking, you find a big black bird sitting on one of the branches, staring at you intently.
*CAW* it says again, looking between you and the carcass. From somewhere you get an idea. Then again...

From a sudden flash of inspiration, you reach up into the chest of your quarry, and take out the heart. Your already bloody exterior gets even more dirty as you reach elbow deep into the animal. You flung the organ at the onlooking bird, which lands with a *splosh* from a few feet from you. At first, nothing. Then the bird flies down and without stopping, and scoops up the heart.
The avian flies back to the branch it came from, and swallows up the gift with one a sickening "gulp".

"Well it seems you have kept some politeness" -says the bird with booming voice, and a mischievous twinkle in it's eyes- now I know you can't recall anything" After a moment's silence it continues; "You may ask now, and I will answer truthfully"

"Three questions? Ah what the heck, I always liked the cut of your jib. Let's see; Who am I? I guess a re-introduction would only be proper. You may call me Revas."
"As for why are you being hunted? It usually goes this way: You ask for something, and in turn promise to take part in the hunt. You get that specific something, and then it is time for you to pay."
"But what did I ask for?"
"I don't know, I am just a bird"
This is getting nowhere, maybe giving that heart away wasn't such a good idea. You start to look around that stone you previously wanted to throw

"Lastly; now here is a little extra: Before I answer you, try to introduce yourself to me!"
"What?" -you stopped the searching to look surprisedly at the avian-- "Introduce myself?"
"Yes just stand up, put your hand before your chest, bow and say sour name"

You hesitate, then decide what the heck; what's the worst can happen? Make yourself a fool before a talking bird? You stand up shake your blooded limbs off a bit, then do as the bird said.

A wave of sickness washes over you as you stand there, with your head bowed. Names flood your head, all of them you recognize, but none of them can you place. You have to choose.

"Call me Ishmael" - you say, straightening back.
"See Ishmael? I have freed a question for you" -before you can open your mouth, he continues- "but before you waste it to something stupid, how about I switch it for a tip instead? After you are done with whatever you'll do with that poor animal, go towards west. You'll find a clearing with a big menhir. You better check it out.
Not bothering with any protests you might have, Revas takes off, and disappears behind the treetops.

Throwing away false modesty, you takes off your bloody pants, and use the rope-belt to secure the boar on a thick branch close to the fire. After you re-fashioned a sturdy enough branch into a skewer, you start to skin the bastard, and chop it's two legs down as soon as possible in the process. You skewer them both above the fire and while they sizzle above the fire, you continue the skinning.

A long and hard work later, you are full with some good meat and a fat liver.

It's 13:00
The fire is burning, you are technically naked in the spring weather, and well-fed. You have a more-or-less hog-skin with a few holes in it, and two cut off, cooked legs. The rest of the pig still hangs from the branch on your belt
>Roll a d100 for fate

Ishmael wraps up the meat in the leather, puts out the fire, takes back his pants, and starts walking towards the general direction of west. After another forty minutes or so, he enter a clearing. As promised, the menhir stands there, three times as tall and almost as wide as a Hunter would.

Ishmael lays down his package on the grass, and steps closet to the large boulder. The stone is almost fully covered in green moss. Memories stirr within him, light impulses, like when he knew the sun would be his savior last night. Reaching out and rubs off the moss.As he sees more and more beneath it, his movements become more erratic, to strip the stone naked.
A picture is before him, engraved into the grey surface. They aren't very artistic, only stick men, but they tell a story

The first picture shows a man with his head in his hands. Then a tall, very tall man thrice his size with horns appear beside him. A little sun appears between the two, like the horned man gives it, and the kneeling man takes it. The kneeling man straightens out, and with his arms above his head holds the light, seemingly happy. Then the man runs in a forest with crouching figures chasing behind it.

Ishmael walks around the menhir to uncover more of the pictures

The next picture shows the running man chased by the crouching figures, as the sun sets upon him. The next picture is the same, but the crouching figures are gone.

He builds a shack during the day, then the night comes. The crouching figures chase him, then when the sun comes up the shack is gone.

He is wounded, and clutching for his life as the Hunters reach for him, then the sun comes up, and he stands again.

The man seems to build and acquire new things during the day, and chased in the night. The pictures show a pattern. When the sun is down more and bigger crouching man chases him each time, but when the sun is high, he hunts.

There are 9 distinct shapes he hunts; a thick standing shape with claws, a thick standing shape with a enormous jaw, a four legged creature with tusks.

At this point the menhir is broken and the other pictures are incomprehensable.

When he is finished Ishmael has to sit down and support himself near the menhir. Nauseousness comes over him, but he feels like he understood more. He knows what he must do.
