>Viking Funeral
>Scour ship for good news

You were not exactly the most poetic person in the world, but that was okay. Part of the reason you had picked this means of sending your Warriors into the afterlife was because it was short on words, and long on symbols. The Engineers had stripped the ship down to the waterline, as per your orders, and on it lay the bier for the three fallen. Sitting in nothing but a pair of trousers, one of the worst wounded had a small alcohol lamp made from a beer bottle in front of him, a cigarette lit off its cloying flames. The bites he had suffered were prominent on his shoulders, and the knife on his lap was sharp. For what was planned, it had to be.

“Remember” you told the doomed man “slice down your arm, not across.”

He just nodded.

Going back to your new ship, you offered him a salute, which he stiffly returned. Nodding, you looked at your assembled crew and the plebeians.

“Men of the ship. Dependents of the ship. We are gathered here on this deck for the farewell of four of our dead, whom have fallen in battle acquiring this vessel. They have sacrificed their lives, not in vain, but in glory. Those who were zombies were people, and in their gratitude for being freed of their enslaved mortal coil, they shall serve our Warriors in the Warrior’s Heavens until the End of All Days, in which our Warriors shall stand in arms with all of the honored and honorable fallen for the last battle.”

“Now, as we sail away, the pyre of the fallen will light, and they shall travel to their first homes. Thus their time here has ended, and so their time in the heavens shall begin.”

As the helmsman stated the engine and locked the throttle, you batted away a tear.

“All present, SALUTE!”

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw every hand move. Some used the English variant, some the American, and one fucker did a Sieg Hail. He was too clean, thus one of the plebs. Good- you’d need bait for something later.

The salvaging of the boat goes well as those disinclined to actually work get herded into the bow cabin, which unlike yours was fairly zombie-infested. They had been slowly working on clearing it, and you were amazingly unimpressed. The half-dozen sailors had filtered themselves out early, as well as a single replacement for the four warriors you lost. It would have to be enough, you supposed. While fishing operations on the aft were slow and moderatly successful, you had to contend with the fact that sushi could only be served so many times before you were almost ready to go back to Mountainhaus. Almost.
>Moral +1

When the inventory of the ship came in, you almost wept. There was a radio. A god-blessed radio, and even a wireless signal tracker and radio search gear. You could find ships, now! You could track distress beacons! You could divine the location of any survivors!

You could do this as soon as one of your engineers managed to figure out how to read all the damn things off the much-abused and poorly-annotated owner’s manuals! Until then, time to cruise!
>Pop +5

To be honest, you were getting really tired of this. You needed something interesting, damnit! Five people recruited from forty liferafts. Five people, for a week’s worth of seven-shift watches! Arg!
Either way, you had a new hope rising. The Engineer had managed to slowly learn how to divine the signals, cross the streams, and read the omens of the electronics suite. Now, there was an objective, a mission. A purpose. Now you just had to figure out which one to do- track in on the few transmitting manual panic buttons you had detected, or home in on the passive distress beacons. The actives had to be triggered, which generally meant smaller craft, less stuff, and possible people. The passives were hotwired into the ship’s computers, which meant bigger targets, more supplies, and more risk.
So which would you choose?

>Passives: Big material rewards

As you discovered to your dismay, there was a rather large discrepancy between having a means of determining direction and actually using the information to steer the ship. The signalman would constantly mutter and hum to himself, fiddle a few dials and nodes, and then check his gyroscopic compass. It worked, mostly, because he somehow could tell the signals apart on the oscilloscopes and the headphones and the rather large copy of The Wealth Of Nations he had sitting next to the antenna for some reason.

You really weren’t going to ask about it.

Either way you wrote it, you were approaching your target- a rather large ship compared to your yacht, but small in the scale of things. From what you were seeing, it looked like a tramp freighter, with a few ISOs on deck and a lot of bare space where there should have been things but weren’t. Of course, this all paled in comparison to the zombies on deck. At least a half-dozen of them, probably more in the superstructure. Add in the difficulty of boarding, and you’re going to have fun with this one. Turning to The Signalman, you tighten your eyebrows down.

“This is it?”

“This is it. Everything else is lifeboats and static.”

Idea.
Try to get the zombies attention so they wander off the deck and fall into the water like dumbasses.

Is there a way to clear zombies off the top deck? Say fashion a harpoon with rope? Stay close enough our guys can take potshots with that while keeping enough distance so zombies merely will sink if they try to jump it? Assuming a good toss can go 50 or more meters this should be doable. We can make noise to attract more to the top deck as well?
>>
>>46257381
Sounds good
>>
>>46257381

It'll require a Talent check. Let me remind you your Talent level is currently 1.

>>46257436
Potshots with what? The only gun is your Luger.
>>
>>46257492
What.
Shouting and causing noise is hard?
News to me.
>>
>>46257492
Sorry I meant throwing the harpoon we could possibly fashion, potshot was what i put because I assume no-one one board did javelin in track and field, etc., that would afford them decent aim. So time consuming, although safe-ish.
>>
>>46257558
Yes, make noise, consume time, and shit on zombie day.
>>
>>46257522

No. Getting zombies to wak off the side of a ship with a saftet railing is.

>>46257558
That would probably work fairly well, but it would draw all the zombies to one spot. Which could be good or bad, depending on your plan.
>>
>>46257770
Okay, my vote will be:
Draw zombies to the side, try to get them to fall into the water, and then harpoon potshot the remaining zeds.
>>
>>46257770
Do we have big planks of wood, or something slippery like oil? I'm not really thinking on how to take on a bunch of zombies without either outranging them, tripping them or boxing them in ala riot police.
>>
So current plan is sneaky bullshit, followed by boarding.
>Roll 2d20 Talent check.

>>46257861

Looking at the tightly packed mess of zombies, you smiled.

"Bring us in closer, and swing out a litttle. I want to see if we can get some zombies to try and chase us off."

"Into the water, sir?"

"Exactly."

As the zombies started piling up against the saftey rail, a few started jumping off, trying to reach your boat. The helmsman danced out of the way artfully, watching them splash into the drink. Inspired, you draw your Luger and start taking potshots, holding your body steady and letting the motion of the boat bring you on target. You scored a few,.and the zombies stopped charging to feed.

You smiled, and got an idea.

"Helm, take us to the other side of the target. Warriors, ready the grapnels and your equipment."

Watching the Warriors suit up, you squinted. Some had made crude arm- and leg-guards out of clean carpet that had been stripped from the sheet. You smiled. Good- it meant that they wern't affraid to think for themselves.

"Throw grapnels, men."

As the grapnels landed, you smiled. No contacts. The warriors slowly creeped up the lines, carefull to stay quiet. As you got to the enemy ship, you smiled faintly. Time to get serious.

Small groups don't do so hot when they get mobbed and any bite is fatal.
>>46258707
Just remember, you could be working on a farm, or in a call center. There are always worse jobs available.

True. The problem is that the second you think you're on the ball something happens. Loose a card, tripod shits on you, file corrupts, camera shits on you, can't shoot, sick actors, greenscreen booked, editing lab booked, Premire shits on you, Aftereffects shits on you, FUCKING EASTER RUSH JOBS, family happens, family "discounts" hapen...

So much goes a little wrong it always feels like a miracle when I finish a project, though. It's like any other skill trade, I guess. Well, equal parts skill trade and art.
>>
>>46258839
>>46258607
>>46258523

Alright, spetnazfags, quick intro to stealth. Instead of the solidifiesd battle line, you have a bunch of mosquito teams. If one gets mobbed, that's garunteed fatalities. If one mobs, it's garunteed kills.

Most importantly, though, each group rolls sepratly on their own modifiers set. Which means that if sometthing goes horrible, you cannot MC-presense save them. Considering the fact they're armed with kitchen knives and carpet armor, do not expect great and mighty things.
>>
Shit, forgot to put trip back on! Dmanit! Abov two are mine!

Hopefully the zeds will be too distracted to fuck with our guys.
They're eating, after all
>>

There we have it folks, spetznaz should be saved when we have decent fighters and weaponry, or at least a lot of alcohol and explosives.
>>
>>46259020

Which clusters them up, which gives them weight of numbers... where have we seen this before?

>>46259038

Suprisingly enough, if you ever write-in training a Combat Engineer, that is a subclass for crew with explosives mastery.

Also, sad tot aay but quest ending for tonight because fucking shiteating equipment is too many problems. Quest will most likely run again on Saturday, with same extended hours as tonight. Hopefully that time will be better prepared, so eH.

As usual, captcha is boats, and things will be updated and archived later. Goodnight.

Numbers are fucking worthless if nobody is paying attention
Zeds aren't exactly smart enough to focus on surroundings when food is right there

Take care Wolf. Relish your quiet days.
