Quest Start

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice, Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, struggled victory leaving you thinking you had killed the man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the relating emotional collapse lead you to abandoning yourself. Developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you could not in secret, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

And so, when strange evil again fell upon your city and your world, your younger sister rose as Sailor New Moon in your stead. However, despite your misgivings about magic and being a magical girl...you eventually rose to try and help your younger sister and the girls awakening to their own powers as her guardian court in secret.

In helping them you have gone to great lengths and made great strides in your own efforts to put yourself back together, mend the relationships you broke when you withdrew from friends and family, and to live.

By actions related to all three of those notions you find yourself tonight attending the show headlined by a band lead by one of your classmates. In part to rebuild your awareness of him and he you, in part because the two of you had been on the verge of something before you shut down. Things are, complicated now. Even though you made a move on your feelings. They are complicated.

Your feelings for him, Yoshi Sakurada. His feelings for you. Your feelings for your best friend, Kairi Osaka. Her feelings for you.
>>
>>46156878

So damn complicated.

And on top of all that you used going to this show to get close to an agent of the enemy your little sister opposes as Sailor New Moon. Using one of your guised identities you have made arrangements to potentially infiltrate their organization in the morning, but for now you are catching some air on a shared hotel balcony area outside of the performance’s afterparty. Alone with a drink.

Well, you were alone. Someone from one of the other parties is out here with you now, you noticed him walking toward the table you find yourself brooding and stewing at.

He is the frontman for one of the other bands that was playing tonight. More than that, he has hit on you once before when you wore a different guise. That guise, the Red Eyed Beast, had a reputation for being the delinquent nightmare of Juuban. Presently you are dressed as the persona you crafted to join a Ganguro Revival fashion circle. Both of these slivers of yourself have been brought home and again into yourself.

“Excuse me,” he saunters up in cool confidence while dressed in rather casual clothing compared to his stage armor and dressing, “I didn’t think anyone else would be out here. May I sit?”

His intentions are telegraphed. However he hasn’t done anything specific to upset you just yet. And even if you told him he couldn’t sit, there is no telling what he’ll do.
>>
>>46156893

You know from his earlier attempt to introduce himself to your other self that his name is Byakuya Hoseki. More than that, you know if the history of the past twenty years had gone different his name and his fate would be radically different. In a future averted, the alternate reality from which your big sister (who is actually an alternate possible version of yourself who has lived an entirely different life) comes from, he would have been Prince Demande of the Black Moon Clan. The descendents of rebels exiled from a Utopian Society without death sent to a far off planet called nemesis.

However, much like you are not your elder sister he is not Prince Demande. In this sequence of events, he is just flirtatious and young. Given your current personal conflict, you could probably do without his attention at the moment.

You consider what to do, how to respond. Honestly you’ve got enough on your plate to deal with this kind of thing right now.

“I would rather be alone right now,” you tell him succinctly, taking a poignant sip on your drink.

He pauses, hand floating near the back of one of the other chairs at this balcony table. After a moment of indecision he brings it back to his side and slides it into one of his pockets. Not turning to leave, he instead faces out to the edge of the balcony. Slowly moving toward it.

“I know the feeling,” he says while flashing a self assured smile, “If you do decide you want some company I’ll be just over there, enjoying the vie-”

His words are cut off by a sudden flashing movement of purple gray in the poorly lit outside of the wide shared balcony patio of the suites on this floor of the hotel. He stumbles back and forth with a shocked shriek reaches past his lips but probably doesn’t overcome of the sounds coming from any of the nearby afterparties.

The guardrail is a good fifteen feet to his left as he veers to his right, no danger of him or his assailant falling over the edge as far as you can reconnoiter. Your eyes widen in surprise as your recognize the thing resting on his head. It isn’t a thing. It is a cat, rather a kitten.

Diana.

And she is hissing.

What is your cat doing here? More than that, why is he attacking this guy?

Momentarily.

Well, you’re certain that your petite guardian has a good reasoning for this course of action. In fact, you decide to watch how her attack on the young musician pans out. After his initial unsteady few steps back toward the building, he trips and falls to the ground while trying to reach for whatever is on his head.

Diana leaps free of his him before impact, all the while him screaming in confusion and surprise.

She lands on the table beside you, front crouched low and hissing. Eyes lancing daggers at the young man, you cannot help but wonder what brought this on and think it may be a good idea to have a conversation with the still childish magical talking cat about just why she did this.

Not that you’re complaining just yet, honestly you’re trying not to laugh at this. Even if you aren’t the persona whose face you now wear, she has come home to you and a phrase echoes in the corner of your awareness about the clothes making the man. Or, for this case, woman. Still tending toward the familiar part of Miki, you cannot help but find this amusing as the Hoseki boy shoots back up to his feet.

“What the hell,” he sputters and looks around wildly and settles on the hissing cat, and steps back again.

>>
“Oh no,” you intone with some feigned concern, your psionic ability to shield your mind from a wide variety of scrutiny providing some cover and ambiguity, before you direct a mental query to the still hissing cat, -Diana, what’s the matter?-

“Oh no? Damn right oh no,” he tries to compose himself and then postures as if glaring back at your cat, “Feral thing out of nowhere,”

-I don’t like him! I think he’s dangerous,- she explains.

A look of recognition takes him while observing your cat and trying to position himself to seem less undercut by the experience. Circling around the side of the table, putting you between himself and the cat, he edges a bit further back.

“Wait, is that a collar?”

-Dangerous?- you scoop her up, to her surprise as it seemed she was going to pounce again or at least get herself between the two of you, “Like, this is so weird, excuse me. I think I’m going to try to find out if...well just look at her so small and it’s cold out. No wonder she attacked your head,”

This near to nonsensical response gives him pause, eyes drawn away from the now confused kitten and to you as your rise.

“Huh?”

-I’ve seen him before in dreams,- she explains, and you imagine he in turn has seen her in his, -I think he’s dangerous,-

-Not quite,- you mentally whisper, -Who he could have been was dangerous. He’s to the dangerous guy like I am to Usa-neesan,-

Your Diana quiets at that, her fur no longer bristling as she glances back over your arm at the still confused boy. Well, you do as well and note his conflicted expression as you vanish back into the suite. Back inside you catch sight of Sasha, Moe-chan, and The Damned talking over by the wet bar. To your surprise someone comes up alongside you.
>>
>>46161558

“Mikage,” turning you are almost caught by the voluminous swing of Keiko Sugimoto’s long and high set dark hair, “Are you alright?”

Keiko is one of the friends you’ve made since coming back out of your shell. More than that she is the reincarnation of an ancient sorceress who once destroyed the world when possessed by- actually that’s long and old history. You became friends when you helped her confront her past life, flush the lingering presence of darkness from her soul, and helped to awaken her as the Guardian of the Sun, Sailor Sol.

>Shrug her question off and go over to the bar
>Shrug it off and go eavesdrop by the bar

You find it odd that she’s asking, given that you know you shouldn’t outwardly seem out of sorts. Layered behind a fortress of thought to keep your heart very far away from your sleeve.

“Why do you ask?” you question and adjust your light hold on Diana.

She sighs a bit to herself and rolls her shoulders. Considering the best way to approach whatever she’s about to say, you pick up on that quickly enough.

“Kairi may have asked Midori to talk about some things,” she admits carefully, but with a noted and perhaps disarmingly concerned smile as she slips back into a more casual tone, “and I saw you sitting out by yourself on the patio. It just made me think you might be falling back on being Princess No, Princess,”

She punctuates with Princess. Different from Princess No, but Princess. Of all of your small circle of friends in the know of your quintuple life and secretive heritage, she would be the one to note onto that. Swearing any value of loyalty to you means something much different to Keiko than it probably does to Kairi and Midori. Its part of her defining her identity in lieu of her past life, and considering and remembering it.

“Honestly,” you falter a bit and close the balcony door behind you, catching sight of Byakuya Hoseki looking out over the guardrail at the city before you shoot a hooded and maybe worried look over to The Damned.

Grabbing at Keiko’s arm, you lead her over to the couch in the main room of the suite.

“That kind of fall back is looking pretty good,” you grouse as you scan the room for any signs of Kairi, “Just give me a minute to get everything unjumbled in here,”

“Take your time,”
>>
>>46163740

Managing a deep breath, you pout. Quietly explaining things to her, you note your conflicting feelings about rekindling things with Yoshi or starting something with Kairi. More than that, the spark is there for both of them. Kairi’s confession, reconnecting with Yoshi and what you did in the quiet and private dark of the alley.

To which of course Diana interjects that she was watching from the fire escape, unnoticed by the rest of the party at large.

Right. Diana is following you around now. Awesome. Adorable and loyal, but you aren’t sure if you’re happy about that or not just yet.

She nods and gives you a pat on the shoulder. Just putting it out there to her was helpful, makes you feel less tense.

“Don’t make any decisions tonight,” she suggests, “I mean, I don't think you should make any decisions about this in the middle of it,”

You nod. You nod but you aren’t sure if you’re done with tonight.

If no one else votes, we could combine them: Walk home with Kairi and talk on the way.
>>
>>46164338
I don't know, I just voted walk home because I don't remember any subjects with anyone else, and I'm not sure how to clean things up with Kairi right now, but I forgot we had business later on.

Like I suspect Kairi might be crying right now and I don't know what to do about that.
>>
>>46164385
Probably best to be there to offer a shoulder then.

Thinking about the whole potential relationship stuff with her, why not try one date?
It's not committing to a relationship or anything, it's testing the waters. If it works out then they can start a potentially meaningful and caring relationship, and if it doesn't they stay friends. Either way things are clearer, minds are cleared, and there could be less angst, which both would appreciate.

Yeah but I think you might be a bit hasty, like we were more or less explicetly told to leave it be for tonight. I don't think we're gonna even come close to a resolution this thread, or at least not a good one.
>>
>>46164709
Yeah, probably. Still, food for thought in later threads.
>>
What happened to all the Namefaggots that used to be in here?

I'm still in the archives so I can't really contribute yet.
>>
>>46165342
Yeah I'm not sure, I'm still struggling through the archives myself, but the QM keeps saying that people are free to jump in whenever, and as bad as I feel potentially making an uninformed choice, an empty thread feels even crueler.
>>
Well, I at least appreciate the polite intent behind not voting.

Are you enjoying the archive run so far?
>>
>>46165362
I don't remember for certain, but I think they might have left after it became clear that some of them at least were picking choices they knew would end badly because they felt it'd make the story more interesting?

Which I'm not sure I can say is universally a bad thing, but I'm not a fan of it. I generally feel like it's the QMs job to make the story interesting, and the players job to try and do what either it seems like the protagonist would do, or what they think is in the protagonist's best interest (since acting in what they think is their best interest is typically what people do unless they have a very compelling reason otherwise)
>>
>>46165391
It's uh, pretty interesting. All of the Red-Eyed beast nonsense pisses the fuck out of me. The earlier threads needed more Eclipse.

Also everything Review anon said in the /wqdt/ was pretty spot on.

Also Miki a fucking best
>>
>>46165416
I'll admit I sometimes feel the urge to do things like that, but not in this quest. In fact the urge only comes in fanfic quests of shonen series.
Though even then, I don't because it would feel like taking the story in a shitty direction, or being a that guy.
>>
>>46165481
It's almost certainly being that guy. Voting for bad things is an awful conscious decision.
>>
>>46165522
Hence why I decide 'fuck my conflict fetish and comparing the original story to a fun collective game'. Common sense wins out.
>>
>>46163772
Keiko's a sharp kid.
Which makes sense as a strong willed woman with a couple extra lifetimes of memory tacked on.
I'm still happy at how that misson went with her consoling Beryl.
>>
>>46165565
I feel like if anything QMs shouldn't be afraid to throw complications at the players, like not too much that they can handle, but just enough to keep them on their toes.
>>
>>46165680
If you throw too much people act like brats and "drop".

I swear I had the same guy say quest dropped to me like 3 times. ugh
>>
>>46165680
Yeah, that's usually where the thought pops up: things feel way to easy and you're doing better than in canon, even when there are bad rolls. Nothing much feels earned.

Of course, this quest benefits from not having a 'canon' since it takes place in an alternate post-series future. Also, I trust Artemis has things handled: the overarching plot feels like a long con.
>>
>>46165784
But do they actually drop or just say they would?

And rather than having challenges, I feel like people complaining mainly comes from feeling trapped and not knowing what to do. Like Peter Parker Quest was the biggest example of that with the whole Carnage thing.
>>
>>46165919
Probably just say to make me feel bad. People can be exceptionally petty.
>>
Still writing.
>>
“I want to talk to her, but not hear,” you sigh and fall back into the couch, “Considering tomorrow I think it’s time to call it a night,”

“Not going to talk to Yoshi anymore tonight?” Keiko whispers conspiratorially.

“To say goodnight,” you shrug, “but otherwise I still don’t know what I’m doing. Long walk back to Juuban seems a good place to chat,”

“Just about that?” Keiko queries as you get up, “You know we also have to talk about your morning appointment,”

She’s using vague language for the surroundings, probably a good idea. Making your goodbyes to those around in brief, you step out into the hallway having not found Midori or Kairi in the suite. Actually you couldn’t find a great many of the people you came here knowing besides your own close circle of friends. Just Yoshi in his stage makeup, Sasha, and Moe-chan.

Moe-chan is a bit cold and suspicious toward you, or you could just be paranoid and she’s still wondering why you never responded to her text. Despite how forward she usually is it’s weird to see her insecure about something. Sasha is quick in his response, as if there is something on his mind as he gives you a nod. He knew about Kalunite tonight, perhaps he’s upset nothing happened.

Yoshi...under his stage makeup you don’t really press toward reading him. Though maintaining his stage persona he gives you a noncommittal nod. You imagine beneath it he is full of confusion and uncertainty and the same warm and giddy feeling you felt in the alleyway.

Not that you aren’t full of a similar confusion. Multiplied by circumstances.

The two of you find Midori and Keiko in the hall, talking near the elevator. They perk up when they notice you, as Diana shifts from resting in your arms to moving to your shoulder.
>>
>>46166969

Together, after saying you’re ready to pack in for the night, the four of you head down and out of the hotel. Keiko pulls Midori back a bit after she mentions she has a few ideas to go over for the operation in the morning and how to back you up for your infiltration of the enemy.

Leaving you to talk a bit more with Kairi. She isn’t avoiding your gaze, her eyes aren’t red and puffy from crying, but she is definitely thinking about something.

“So...how was your minute,” you ask carefully as you walk together toward Juuban.

“It was, alright, Midori and I talked a bit,” she explains with her hands held together and in front of her, low, “about you,”

“About me?”

“About the roller coaster that is having feelings for you,” you wince a bit, “I talked about this, she gave me some perspective on how she felt about, Miki,”

She doesn’t say anything else, just yet. You know she said she understood about waiting on you sorting her feelings, but does she feel like she’s in competition with Yoshi now? Does she feel betrayed after spending so much time working on her own feelings. When you found out about Midori’s feelings related to Miki, you didn’t give them much more thought after you helped her and Keiko come together.

Momentarily you think about your big sister Usa, and how she managed whatever she managed between Tomoe-sensei and Helios. As much as the two of you are the same, you are also different. Just because she could doesn’t mean you can. Or...it does? You aren’t entertaining that idea right now.

And even after a kiss, that doesn’t make you magically in a relationship with Yoshi. Neither of you have set any notation, boundaries, or anything else just yet. You could still ask him out on a date, or her out on a date.

She doesn’t seem uneasy, and you aren’t really betraying your own anxiety over this. Actually, you know for a fact you are anxious enough right now to have gone down for a panic attack right now. Putting yourself back together seems to be fortifying you against those issues...

Beast decided to kiss Yoshi. I missed that thread myself.
>>
>>46167146
Would this be our first kiss? Because if so, then it'd be definitely a bad time because it'd me more a consolation prize instead of an actual moment.
>>
>>46167194
Addendum: not in favor of anymore kissing this evening. Worse, using it to 'balance the scales' would seem to cheapen the moment.
>>
>>46167236
Eh. Not a fan of beast, or Yoshi for that matter. What the hell happened to Sasha?
>>
>>46167243

>>

Contentious. Alright, lets count this up, grab a beverage and see where we are.
>>
>>46167288
He's cute to tease, but doesn't seem to adjust as well to the full spectrum of Mikage.
On the guy front, Yoshi has held out for her longer than a sane person should and whethered the recent reveals with her very well.

On the girl front, I honestly feel more like Kairi, who is wonderful, is mainly looking at the Mikage option as a very safe option for herself. I'd rather her as a long game option, once she's healed as well.
>>
>>46167029
>Try to talk about things with Gai
What's going on with Gai?
>Self deprecating, being around you must be difficult
>So, maybe we should talk about the plan for tomorrow?
Even if you prefer Kairi as a love interest, kissing her won't make that happen.
>>
>>46167541
So get her to be able to smile on her own.. then protect that smile.
>>
>>46167541
Even so, I feel like a casual date at a later time would do Mikage and Kairi both some good. Letting things bubble up inside isn't good.
>>
>>46167619
The problem is that while it's true leaving things to bubble up is bad, it's also bad to move too fast before things can cool off.

Before we made an off hand comment while magically high on life, Gai seemed to be her top romance interest and he seems to have some interest in return.

Well yeah that's why I said polyamorous love pile instead of harem.

As in we could have things going on with Kairi and Yoshi, and Kairi could have things going on with us and Gai.

It'd be a monumental effort to be sure though.

That's a separate vote though, like if she tries to kiss us, we'd have a choice to kilss her back or not. You can't just vote to control someone else's actions.
>>
>>46167766
Notoriously difficult outside of an h-game, which this is not.
With the right people, it might just work, but you have to build up the relationship strengths.
Like a Kairi that can stand on her own, and a long term bf that can withstand the continual chaos that is life with Mikage.
But it'll take work it you want it.

This is still anime land. Mikage's older sister is in one. So it's not exactly a foreign concept.

Fucking barely, it only works because Hotaru is fragile as hell and Helios is a saint.
>>
>>46168047
This really isn't overthinking things. We kissed Yoshi as the Red Eyed Beast's last act, and as part of a really dramatic moment. Kissing Kairi would just be because we hadn't kissed her yet.

I'm a little suspicious of the voter count jumping up, but then again maybe it's just people finally are paying attention to the quest.

Well, before the vote there was a jump in participation, and I expect that folks are getting home from work or mobile around this vote or so.

I see nothing immediately suspicious about this and the varied cadences.

So, in the slight interest of that, while we run the clock down on this vote, how are all of you doing tonight? What's new?

I'm willing to accept that so far.

Good lucks with your papers, midterms, and your windy drives home.

Procrastination IS the sickness.

>>

Good question... Maybe something like "The beast may have kissed that other dude, but another equal part feels at least as much for you."?

This sounds pretty stupid when i'm typing it out, don't take my advice.
>>
Holy shit I'm in thread 85 and I just read the thing at the end.

Keiko and Midori have been sleeping together, shit's almost as lewd as holding hands in public.
>>
>>46168744
A sort of assurance of feelings that's a bit stronger than, "No but seriously I like you."

Her reaction would also be particularly interesting on determining the direction of the relationship.
>>
>>46168830
The Beast left as we were kissing him and now she's gone. To simplify kissing Yoshi as "it was the Beast, not me" really cheapens the whole moment and what it meant to Mikage. Like even if you think Yoshi is a tool, that's still grotesquely irresponsible.
>>

>>
>>46168887
You need to remember is that would be the first time we kissed Kairi, our second kiss total, and probably Kairi's first.

Do you really want that to be because of reassuring her?
>>
>>46169018
How is reassuring her a negative?
>>
>>46169058
Because it's almost like an apology like sorry for kissing this other guy. It wouldn't be because there was a really strong bond between Mikage and Kairi right then, it'd just be an attempt at balancing things.
>>
I gotta say, I really appreciate my fellow players and viewers.
I can work and walk in peace know you all will step up and work out some good options and discussions.
>>
>>46169128
I'd... argue that there is an extremely strong bond between Mikage and Kairi.

It's less to balance the scales and more to comfort her and see if there is any attraction there. I think you're overly concerned with timing. It's never going to be perfect and if you worry about that it's never going to happen.

“What else did Midori say,” you questions slowly, “About me?”

Her step falters, and you pause for her. It takes a moment for first her and then your feet resume moving before she speaks.

“That Miki listened, you listened,” she sighs and tightens her hands around one another for a moment, “You made her feel better when she didn’t like herself, that you helped her have fun away from the person she tried so hard to be because she was afraid of what would happen if people knew about her,”

She takes a steadying breath.

“You do that, you know,” she smiles a bit, “Even if you are a whirlwind you do try to make your friends feel better,”

One of her hands slides up to massage the side of her neck.

“Though, I’ll skip the obvious way right now if that’s okay,” she says in a slight teasing voice, which is at least a good sign.

You feel like you’ve wronged her by being so indecisive. By acting on your feelings in the moment. She said she’d wait for you to know what you wanted and how you felt…

Why is this so difficult?

“Also there was the matter of her thinking your legs were really ho-”

“THAT WAS SHARED IN CONFIDENCE!” Midori practically pounces the redhead from behind and hops past her using her shoulders as a point of leverage before launching into an embarrassed run on sentence, “I know you two need to have long talks about your feelings but maybe we should take a few minutes to go over my plans for backing up your crazy little infiltration plan and not that I think-”

She rambles on, perhaps a little off kilter given that she’s had a few things to drink. Keiko comes up on the other side of the pedestrian street side and seems giggly amused at her girlfriend’s discomfort while Kairi regains her bearings from being vaulted past.
>>
>>46170442
“Maybe you can tell her the plan you came up with,” Keiko observes.

“Yeah, what plan have you come up with? So far I’m just getting in a car and we have no idea what happens after that,” you throw in, thankful for the distraction.

Midori composes herself and her eyes take a serious bent as her hands find her hips. Stilling her momentary rambles, she suddenly points forward at Kairi.

“Nephrite Knight will utilize her powers of divination to track your path from a few blocks back beyond the speed of traffic,” Midori explains in confidence, “Utilizing the offered resource of your court’s agreed martial trainer and his nimble traffic weaving bike,”

“Sasha?” You know he said he wanted to help without becoming a knight, “Isn’t it risky to bring him along like this?”

“Well, he’s only going to be Kairi’s ride,” Keiko backs up Midori’s explained plan, “Midori and I will follow on the rooftops. However we won’t be alone,”

“Because waiting a half mile in each of the cardinal directions from the pick up point will be the Sailor Quartet,” Midori says with some degree of smugness, “Both to keep eyes on the city for strange activity and converge with us once your final location is clear,”

“How’d you get hold of them?”

“I managed to collect cell numbers at your sister’s going away party,” Keiko says proudly, “So two Knights and five Senshi as backups,”

“We know where they take you, and once they stop I get supernatural eyes on you. If my ring’s powers can’t perceive you or see that you’re in danger, we storm full force,” your best friend and point of personal contention explains while flashing her item of power.

“If not, we hold position,” Midori explains with a nod.

“I want to ride in the motorcycle again,” Diana pipes up from your side, “That was fun,”

After talking out the further details, Keiko and Midori part ways from you and Kairi. Leaving the two of you to walk together for a while longer. She definitely seems more at ease than earlier, far less tense and a bit more energetic. Invigorated by the talk of action in the morning.

“Kairi,” you break the quiet, “I…”

“Mikage,” she sighs, “We both need our heads in the game tomorrow,”

“Would you not be if I kept pressing things?”

“Would you?”

Grabbing your shoulders for a second you pull against them and sigh. You are so conflicted right now. You want to balance the scales of things to kiss her, but that would be insulting. Wouldn’t it? To make up from how she has to now struggle with your indecisiveness.

That would hurt.

“Kissing you would just make things worse right now,” you reason aloud, “Wouldn’t it?”

She pauses and turns to regard you confused. Her head tilting and eyes uncertain.

“Are you asking that because you want to?” she wonders evenly.

“I’m asking because I can’t decide what to do and...and if I did it would be selfish,” you sigh, “Insincere to think that kissing you because I kissed Yoshi would make things better,”

She doesn’t respond right away, but shakes her head.

“You’re a mess tonight,” she sighs, “Aren’t you,”

“Probably,”

“Do you just want to kiss me and are looking for an excuse,” she doesn’t quite ask it, “or do you think doing so would make things right,”

“I don’t know,” you sigh and slump a bit, “So...so I shouldn’t until I’m doing it for a reason,”

Her face softens as the two of you stop at a crossroads, blocks between both your homes in Juuban.

“Okay,” she turns, “Mikage,”

“Yes?”
>>
>>46170484

“I swore to stand beside you, I blackmailed that offer out of you,” she reminds you of the start of her resolve, “So however you wind up feeling, however you need me there I’ll stand beside you,”

She turns and in the quiet of the encroaching cold season lets red flame coalesce into a sword that she holds high.

“No matter what happens next I’m your Knight. I will see love and read it as loyalty. I will write loyalty and read it as love. I’ll be who as much or as little as you need,” her regalia blazes into form around her in shimmering red patterned cloth, “If it’s what you want, and no matter what, I’ll always be your friend,”

Kairi.

She kneels with a flourish of the sword before rising with a resolved smile.

As touching as that is, the moment isn’t right for it as far as you can tell. You make no move yet, and she doesn’t either. Offering you a quick hug, you return it despite your still mild upset and anxiousness before she breaks off with a waving cry of goodnight.

There she goes, seemingly flowering and coming back to herself in the face of adversary instead of your careful snacking ministrations.

After parting ways, you meander your way home...uncertain and confused with yourself and definitely needing sleep. Diana nuzzling against your cheek to offer some comfort.

However, as your house comes into view something catches your eye.

Someone is standing outside of your house. Flitting back and forth and talking to themselves in the dark shifting between standing upright and hunching forward. Messy black hair in a wild flow to her moment of her seemingly overly thin and tall frame.

Your classmate Saori Umeki?

A sincere expression of loyalty, which as a clandestine heir to two kingdoms is very nice.

You watch her for a moment before simpling walking forward and vanishing from sight. Continually refreshing this ability, you come to a stop with Diana still on your shoulder and lean against the wall barrier between the sidewalk and the street as the eternally harried girl hems and haws.

“Okay, so what if you don’t tell her tonight and just tell her in the morning,” she surmises and clutches her hands together tightly against her chest, “I could just show up first thing and be all dramatic about it!”

This prospect excites her as she stands bolt upright with a happily manic look in her eye.

“It would be like a police drama, I’d knock on the door furiously and she’d answer all bleary eyed and I would hold the conversational momentum about the tense reveal!” she practically sways with self satisfied pried before arching her back to face the sky with a muffled groan, “but what if someone else answers the door? It’ll totally undercut the moment, and If I don’t know them how will I be able to even speak,”

Waving her posture the other way, she crouches down and starts tracing her finger in a pattern on the sidewalk.

“No, I found this tonight so I should tell her tonight,” she murmurs into the ground and through the veil formed by her hair.

Though she has obviously been taking better care of it, it is quite slick with her familiar greasiness on top of the sweat from the concert venue. Actually, if not for your use of a magic quick change you worked up quite the sweat between the pit and your fight.

“That totally was her I saw at the show toward the end...what if she stayed out with her friends?” Saori’s frustrations continue to spiral as you wonder just what she has to show you, “If I weren’t so queasy I would have followed. I should have followed. I can do that, we’re friends. Oh god how do I have friends. What do I do with friends?”

Standing upright again she starts pacing.
>>
>>46171571
“I’ve got a super amazing common backstory bond with Midori fucking Mori of all people,” she curses momentarily, “Well, she’s more street than Chiba. Maybe I should swing by and show it to her?”

She pauses and shakes her head.

“No. No no no. If I show it to her or even Osaka-san she’ll want to show it to Chiba-san first,” she resolves, “I gotta cut out the middle women and maybe I’ll get a direct answer out of her,”

She pauses and titters to herself, hiding her suddenly broad smile behind a hand despite thinking she’s entirely alone on the street.

“And maybe she’ll offer me a spot in her great coven so I don’t have to go through the awkwardness of asking!”

She titters, and then grows more confident and laughs. A full on self confident morning cartoon proud lady laugh. Loud enough that a neighbor shouts out the window for her to be quiet.

Saori Umeki spasms and trips turning to the direction of the shout and lands in a jumble of herself. This serves only to inspire her as she resumes in a whisper. A whisper and a spooky slow laugh.

“Wait, I’ve got it!” she uncoils her jumble and starts crawling through the open gate and toward the side of the house toward the back garden, “I’ll hang out in her room in the dark for a dramatic reveal, its super cool and she’ll be thrown off balance enough for me to drop cool exposition about what I found,”

You, calmly, proceed after her.
>>
>>46171584

She pauses once in the shadow of your back yard. You notice there are no lights on inside the first floor, but Koyomi’s light is on, and her window is open.

A mischievous grin settles on your face as you make a shushing gesture to Diana and quietly set her on the bench beside Saori as she sits in deep throught while you slowly strafe around behind her. Sliding out your phone, you open it to your texting application and shoot a short message to your baby sister.

You simply ask her how she is doing and if she fell asleep with her window open, then you add a line informing her that there is a weirdo in the backyard and she has little Diana.

This, strange fusion of having the pure aggression and love of conflict born of the Beast along with Miki’s playful and bitchy demeanor, should prove entertaining. More entertaining than simply Saori imploding upon herself.

“Okay,” she murmurs to herself, “Calm down and think. You could always just call her? No, that would seem clingy. I don’t want her to think I’m just some hanger on,”

As increasingly entertaining she is, even alone.

Above you catch sight of a moving shadow against the light coming from your sister’s window. Perhaps your call for her to leap into action was a tad too blunt, but you’ll take it as far as a laugh.

The lights don’t turn on downstairs, not until you see a deeper shadow fill the kitchen door. With two clicks the kitchen and porch light spring to life as the door opens to reveal a pajama clad Koyomi thrusting out an accusatory finger at the nerd girl dressed for a metal concert.

“WHY ARE YOU IN MY BACKYARD!” she cries out, “And what are you doing with our cat!?”

Saori, for her part, chokes in shock and rolls back off the backless bench at the forceful shock and serious expression on Koyomi’s face. This is perhaps more serious than you’ve seen her when she’s clad in the tiara. Peering up over the edge of the bench, her head beside your invisible hip, she raises her hands in a placating gesture and finally notices the cat looking at her strangely.

“I-I-I can-n I can that is I,” she stumbles through shocked and uncertain before grasping at half finished certainties, “Explain, yes! Wait, cat? Okay! Yes!”

Your little sister, drops from worry to confused.

“Huh?”

“I-I’m waiting for a f-f-f-friend,” she manages, “Are you Ch-ch-chi-Chiba-san’s little sister?”

She pauses, and regards the tall girl as she rises up behind the bench and steps over it, dubiously.

“What if I am?” she narrows her eyes and places a firm grip on the sliding glass door, glancing about probably for you.

“I need to speak with her,” Saori blurts out as she starts digging into her purse with sudden panic, “I have to show her, it’s super important the great witch sees this,”

“Wait, witch?” Koyomi asks, confused again.

“Yeah, she’s totally a witch, wait?” she snaps up in shock and fear, “Wait, did you not know? Oh shit was I not supposed to- okay, it’s fine. It’s...it’s a videogame thing. Yeah. Totally a gaming thing!? Not suspicious magic at all”

Koyomi, perhaps entirely lost at this point, just stares at the willowy girl.

At this point you fade back into sight without either of their eyes on you as you reach across the bench and provide your perfectly distracting kitten with scritches behind her ear. Eliciting a happy purr whilst she watches the exchange with particular and amused intrigue.

“Wait...Mikage-nee texted me that you were back here...with our cat, and strange,” your younger sister makes rather surprising headway through paths of logical thought.

This provides Saori pause as well. As one, the two of them look back into the direction of the garden and see you quite plainly sitting there beside where Saori had been moments prior. Skin lightly tanned and made up as the now disheveled and socially awkward girl saw you at the venue, and dressed with a touch of your preferred style.

“Sup,” you wave to the two of them as Saori Umeki fumbles with what she was trying to find in her largish purse.

Well, more of a messenger bag really.

Three objects land with a heavy thud and abject clatter. Largest and most visible is a lewdly covered soft cover bound doujin, alongside of items that at first glance would look like epinephrine injectors. Except, they aren’t. You’ve seen these things before.

On those jerks you beat up at Aiha-chan’s school.

Injectable Psychic powers.

Umeki-san dives for them, and lifts them up to you while prostrated on her knees.

“Great Witch Chiba, offering and discovery-bring-terrible-Ithink-its bad!” she rambles.

You and Koyomi cannot help but just...stare.

Good night guys. Please continue discussing the matter of Kairi as you see fit.

Hell, I'm curious of your opinions on many characters and what you should do.

Good thread, good night. Thanks for running with me.

Thanks for running man. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute more next time.

Ah ha! Drugs! I think someone called that earlier, right?

Might as well see how those kids are doing.

Always fun, have a good night!

I'd like to but it's getting way too late for me.

It occurs to me that we didn't see the result of this vote.

Shoot, you're right. I had it separated out from the rest of the text I was writing. Let me drop that in.
>>
Finding the plan agreeable, you note a warning that Kalunite seemed stronger than the last time you encountered him, and offered a warning to make sure the Sailor Quartet don’t coordinate on this matter directly with the PIT agents they have been working with, given the involvement of Ellis Unlimited.

Briefly you exchange on the idea of involving the younger senshi as well, though you very much doubt you could get them all to cut their half day Saturday classes…
>>
>>46177064
Shipping wars. Always trouble. And fun.
>>
>>46173151
psychic drugs?
>>
>>46172555
I'll try to keep up with them.
>>
>>46181777
Aye, and I'll wager dollars to donuts that the dealer we scared off was trafficking in them.
>>
>>46180188
You just wait, my torpedoes are loaded and I could fire at any moment with the admiral's signal.
>>
I think we should cut the crap and sleep with Kairi.
>>
>>46186301
Waaaaayyyyy too early. Like there isn't even a plan of at whose house they'd do it.

Though I do favor being a bit bolder personally. People say not to try a date or kiss until they're 'healed', but maybe that would help at some point and I wonder what's considered 'healed' anyways. I don't want to be stuck endlessly stalling, or waiting for some 'perfect moment' like a day with no problems, a sunset, some big celebration, ect. Those don't come often, and you sometimes have to make the good mood yourself rather than wait for a good situation to just present itself.

This is from someone who initially thought Kairi was going to a completely platonic friend at the start of the quest, rather than a romantic option. I ended up liking the idea and development.
>>
>>46186535
Even Usagi and Rei had chemistry in the source material.
>>
>>46186647
They all did. Sailor Moon maybe be the origin of magical girls being notoriously gay, even when they aren't.
>>
>>46186720
And even more notorious when they are.
>>
>>46172212
In looking to go further I finally found some plus sized Esmeraude fan art, though it looks more like inflation because Rollingcutter or Axel-Rosered, not sure which.
>>
>>46186535
Care to go into more detail on your observations of dev?
>>
>>46178695
Next question is how do we warn the original Senshi off world without alerting the Ellis elements with them?
>>
>>46190297
We'll have to construct our own signal booster for the compacts.
>>
>>46191159
>our own signal booster
>>sit up suddenly
The Senshi/PIT/Ellis/Think-Tank teams (sabotage/betrayal aside) are trying to bring the planetary palaces back online so that they can broadcast planet power to the Senshi of those worlds.
I don't think Old Earth had that capability, but if we wanted to setup our own channeling structure for the Earth, where would it need to be?
>>
>>46191980
Or the sun for Keiko
>>
>>46192048
She might need it less with her's being a sliver of the Sun's own starseed.
Maybe build something on her to boost the signal?
I feel like Midori would be ok with dating a tattooed Keiko..
>>
>>46191980
Maybe one of those Earth Nodes?
>>
>>46192147
>>
>>46192147
>>46193555
This seems like a good time to point out that magic tattoos are covered under Craft Wonderous

>>46193215
Probably need to link them or something.

You want to potentially build a long term Planet Palace on Earth? If not jury rig something temporary?

Let me just add this too my notes
>>

>>46191980
My guess would be either Point D, Juuban, or a complicated series of linking nodes.

>>46194606
>>46197277
Seems like a nice idea, a certain member of the Quartet may have some feedback on building a place too.
>>
>>46197277
Tree is probably safest from interference
>>
>>46198584
The park staff might object to building a palace there.
Though if it involves nodes, I wouldn't be surprised if it needed at least three to form a triangle.

Maybe we could get away with underground construction.
>>
>>46199771
>underground construction
Artifice domain brings Shape Stone and Fabricate, and crystal tech can grow places under the ground.
>>
>>46200796
Becoming a real underground operation there.
>>
>>46203816
What, nothin'? That is gold right there.
'Cause, you see, gold can be found underground.
Hi-o!
>>
>>46205078

Or just quiet.
>>
>>46194048
Was that right about the tattoos? Remembering conflicting things there.
Which could just be a 3.5/PF difference.
>>46197277
I am not allowed to post while waking up.
>>
>>46209970
Spelling errors are just the thing we risk in life.
>>
>>46211613
When tired enough it is less Risk and more Yahtzee with the wrong dice.
>>
>>46213036
Wrong number of sides or wrong purpose?
>>
>>46213144
Some of them don't even have numbers.
>>
>>46214043
Those would be wrong purpose then.

Like, what instead of numbers? Game specific iconography? Animal shapes? Locations? Pizza Toppings? Biology?
>>
>>46214343
Let:s see, dice for what do do today, food, barntard animals, and swear words. That's the die for it.
>>
Alright I'm in thread 99 and who the fuck voted for some sort of "middle ground" instead of staying in school with our friends?

The votes in this quest I swear.
>>
>>46218733
It's pretty clear Mikage makes bad choices in a vacuum.
>>
>>46218733
More time for crime fighting and special projects, as we push past 6th level in an E6 world we are set on schooling itself.
The push for partial was specifically to spend time with friends.
>>
>>46219358
As I recall off-hand, Kairi was the key deciding factory for us to still show up to school at all. Zero school was favored at one point.

Also possibility of joining the drama club after befriending Keiko had seemed a consideration, but schooling had its own string of misfortunes and we haven't returned to that thought yet.
>>
>>46217806
Sigh. Apparently I rolled sleep, pizza, rooster, damn.
I swear I remember staring at that carefully to correct errors.. with one eye because I couldn't get both to focus the same.
>>
>>46220587
So sleep in and then have BBQ chicken Pizza or Chicken Parm pizza. Sounds better than my day.
>>
>>46219410
Do we want to leave Kairi alone in school. Well, she has friends now in Midori and Keiko, and Saori...
Do we want to leave Kairi alone with Saori?
>>
>>46221860
Yeah, she does have more support around her now, but would be good for her and us to stop in for more social things like lunch, study/free periods, and clubs.

Speaking of clubs I wonder how long it will take up to reconnect with our musical side. We've tried and failed a couple times, and I had hope for it happening during the side quest since it came along in a cool holster, but that adventure ended up being put on a bus, sadly.
>>
>>46223520
That was weird
>>
>>46223520
>>46226535
That is probably Yoshi's real in with Mikage if he can help with that. Music was one of their common loves back in the day.
>>
>>46227074
One of the things that Midori was so made about towards Princess No was leaving music too. I think Mikage may have some excellent talent locked away there. ..Why are we talking about this in spoilers? Are we afraid Mikage will overhear and breakdown? Thinking of overhearing, been awhile since we've done a press conference.
>>
>>46227889
I guess I started because I was thinking about something she wouldn't be.
>>
>>46227889
qa panel with three empty seats and Saori
>>
>>46232266
Put her on a panel with Pluto, Uranus, and Sol.
>>
So I've seen the Pathfinder technology stuff, and find myself hoping for comparable magic moon tech, while fearing what the enemy has put together with shadowy ancient magitech.
>>
I think we should ask Koyomi if she would be ok with explaining who we are to Saori. Asking her cause I think we will have to spell out to associated detail or she will get into even more trouble, somehow.
