Welcome back to WrestleQuest! This is a SOL Quest in which you take the role of young Robin Winters, as he tries to make it big in the crazy world of pro-wrestling under the persona of The Ace.

Last thread, your girlfriend of a week moved in with you, you had a disastrous dinner with your fallen mentor, and your buddy denounced you friendship in order to focus on surpassing you as a wrestler.

>Player Question
What two characters do you think have the best interactions? HARD MODE: Excluding Robin?

>FRIDAY, APRIL 1st 2016
>TWA BACKSTAGE

You begin to pace nervously around the backstage area, your earlier phone conversation with Danny still fresh in your mind. He sounded heated, referring to you as his rival, and denouncing the friendship the two of you had managed to build up over the last month. Poor guy is letting Kevin Omega's words cut deep, and you're supposed to be sharing the ring with him in 20 minutes. You ponder what the best course of action is in this kind of situation. Should you try to talk to him now? Or should you give him some space, and try to talk some sense into Diamond after the show?

>Look for Danny.

You decide that you should probably look for Danny, and try to have a talk with the guy before he let's his sudden new attitude get out of hand.

Searching around, you find him hanging out by the curtain with the house band. His hair is slicked back and he appears to have a cigarette hanging atop his left ear, despite the fact that he's never smoked in his life. This seems to be Danny's very poor attempt at looking cool. He approaches Abby and leans back, with one foot against the wall. "S'up babygirl?" he asks in a poor attempt at a seductive voice, while folding his arms and looking off into the distance vaguely.

"D-Danny...?" Abby eyes the goofball, confused. "W... Why are you talking like that. Do you need some water?"

"Nah, just looking for a change... speaking of, I never noticed how... sexy you are with that fringe."

Abby turns bright red. "Uhh, okay... you're acting a little... weird. I need to go back on-stage with the band now, good luck in your match with Robin tonight!"

Danny puts on a forced scowl at the mention of your name, as Abby takes off. His attempts at re-inventing himself backstage are going well so far. You approach him and clear your throat.

"Oh, it's you. What do you want?"

>Look at yourself. You're really letting Omega get to you this badly?
>Hey man, I just thing we could run over some things for the match tonight...
>You know, if you don't want people to think you're second to me in everything, hitting on my ex is a very bad start.
>>

"That's an easy question for his Star Pupil to ask!" Danny yelled at you. "He's got nothing but good things to say about you! You're the one who's going to make it! If I want to earn Omega's respect, I'm going to have to change some stuff. I need to get serious, and that starts with getting serious about beating you! Yeah, I get it now. I get why he gave you the name Ace. You were his Ace the whole time, but guess what?" Danny takes the cigarette from his ear, tosses it to the ground and stamps on it as if he were putting it out. "I'm the Jack of Diamonds, and nothing beats that."

You hold yourself back from correcting Danny to inform him that there are in fact several cards that are better than the Jack of Diamonds, as it would only dig a deeper hole. Danny pushes past you and finds a spot to himself, clearly unwilling to talk.

No matter, you're sure that the two of you sharing the ring together would remind Danny of your friendship... and said match is up soon. You quickly get changed in the locker room, ready to become The Ace for the first time in almost two weeks.

"Diamond" Danny Gable is first to come out from behind the curtain, with a pair of dancing girl accompanying him. He does a ridiculous dance on the way to the ring, popping up the collar on his bedazzled silver jacket.

>From Long Island, Weighing in at 190lbs... "Diamond" Danny Gable!

Danny slides into the ring, and continues to dance, much to the amusement of the crowd, before making his way to his corner.

>And his opponent...

The crowd explodes as your music hits. It's clear that they didn't realise you would be returning tonight. You burst out from behind the curtain, performing your signature pose on the stage in order to get the audience pumped up before running to the ring.

>From New York City, weighing in at 180lbs... THE AAAAAAAAAACE!

Gable mocking rolls his eyes at the reaction you receive as you slide into the ring and make it to your corner.

*DING DING*

The bell goes, and the match is underway. Diamond doesn't waste time, as he comes running at your with intent to deliver a clothesline.

You wait for Diamond to rise to his feet in order to lay into him with a series of forearm shots. You react in time, moving out of the way of Gable's dropkick, and clearing some distance. With neither man earning any kind of advantage over the other in the early goings of the match-up, the two of you begin to circle each-other, before resorting to the tried and true lock-up in order to see who gains advantage.

You and Diamond lock up in a classic test of strength, attempting to see which man comes out the better. As you begin to gain the advantage, Gable pushes back, as both of you exert your full power with neither managing to gain the advantage. The two of you break the lock-up and begin pacing your sides of the ring in this very even contest.

If you want to gain the upper hand in the contest, you're going to have to form a strategy. You're also going to have to think quick in order to outsmart Diamond.

You pick Diamond up for a bodyslam, but he manages to slip out from behind, landing on his feet and capitalising by bringing you down with a standing neckbreaker! As you roll around on the floor, Diamond points to the top turnbuckle, and the crowd cheers, excited to see someone go up top during the match. Gable scales the ropes, ready to perform one of his signature manoeuvres... a flying leg drop, which he dubs "The Diamond Drop." If he were to hit you with this, you would be in serious trouble going forward in the match. If he lands it, it could be the end of the match right there.

As Gable stands up, ready to make his dive, you crawl to your knees and make a quick effort to bring him down. With what little energy you have, you launch yourself at the ropes. The vibrations from this cause Gable to lose his balance and fall from the top rope onto the mat.

Now that you've successfully preventing him from landing a finisher, it's time for you to take advantage.

As Gable falls to the mat, you see your opportunity and take advantage, leaping up and dropping a huge elbow onto Diamond, who clutches his chest in pain. You rise quickly back to your feet, as Gable rolls around on the mat, recovering from your big move.

You grab Gable and place him in a basic chinlock, hoping to slow things down a little and help restore some of your energy before moving forward. You manage to keep Gable grounded for a while, before he manages to break free by delivering a couple elbows to you rib. You break the hold, and Gable tries to capitalise with a jumping enzuigiri kick.

You duck under the enzuigiri kick, and as Gable recovers in a kneeling position, you decide to blast back with a running knee strike to the side of the face, taking him down. Gable is crafty and keeps coming up with new ways to gain the advantage, but you've managed to stay in control of the match.

You decide it's time you went up top yourself. While Gable rolls around on the floor, you begin to scale the turnbuckle. As you reach the top rope, however, Gable is back to his feet, and hops to the middle rope, halting your progress with a series of shots to the head. You're stunned, and Diamond takes control, attempting to lift you off the top rope with a mighty superplex!

>HERE IS YOUR WINNER... THE AAAAAAAAACE!

The crowd cheers as the referee raises your hand in victory, while Diamond rolls out of the ring. Once the music begins to die out, you grab a microphone.

"Kassius... don't think things are over between us! I'm coming for that TWA Title, and there isn't anyone in the world who can stop The Ace!"

You drop the microphone and make your way backstage.

>OTHER NOTABLE MATCHES

>"Kingpin" David Fisk def. The Ghouls
After easily defeating both Jimmy and Morty in singles competition on the last two shows, David defeats the two of them together in a handicap match.

>Princess Cross def. Jenny Deth in a tables match
The feud between Jenny and the princess continues, this time in a tables match. Jennt dominates the vast majority of the match until Princess is able to reverse a move at the last second and put her opponent through the table for the win.

>MAIN EVENT: "Superman" Kassius Orwin def. Adam Black
This is possibly the shortest main event in TWA history. Once the bell rings, Kassius hits the KO elbow and gets the win only a few seconds into the match. It seems Steinberg is booking Orwin as a massively dominant champion, unfortunately at Adam's expense.

It feels good to be back in the ring, but your victory tonight feels more than a little hollow knowing Danny's feeling going into it. After the match, Danny went straight to the locker room to get changed without even speaking to anyone.

With your mind focused on Diamond, you had completely forgotten that TWA had a special guest in attendance tonight, who was meeting you backstage.

"Great work out there, dweeb!" Patty, smiling and ruffling your hair like you were a puppy. "Gotta say, I was pretty impressed! My only problem is you feel a bit too... Omega in there. Sure, keep the finishing move, that old fart isn't using it anymore, but you really do carry yourself a lot like him when you pull off moves. You're his student, not his tribute act, you know?"

You're surprised to be receiving some helpful advice from Patty Perez. You were so used to her being a sarcastic, foul-mouthed jerk that you almost forgot that she's a UPW star, and has been wrestling for a good deal longer than you have. This surprisingly nice moment is quickly ruined however by the king of ruining pleasant things... Kassius Orwin.
>>
"Giving out lessons, Patty?" The TWA champion smirked, with his belt slung over his left shoulder. "Don't bother. None of these losers are worth the time. Besides, you didn't come here to see them, did you? Nah, you came here to beg me to take you back, right? Spoiler alert; I won't. I bang supermodels now, I'm way above your level."

Patty laughed. "Don't flatter yourself, I was here for the wrestling. Speaking of, loved your match! It actually managed to be shorter than anytime we spent in the sack!"

Kassius' smile faded. "Ha ha, very funny."

Patty turned to you and smirked. "It's true, I am joking. His attempts at fucking me were much shorter than that match. I think he has a serious problem."

Kassius crossed his arms and huffed, not wanting to antagonise a wrestler more famous than himself with Steinberg around.

"So, I heard that you losers usually go to a bar after these things?" Patty asked. "Cause I gotta say, after watching a Kassius Orwin match, I'm very eager to get hammered."

"You know, they do!" Kassius exclaimed. "They've never invited me, but tonight I'm figuring... what the hell? I'm the champion, I can invite myself!" He walked off with confidence. That's not going to end well.

>Okay, let's go to the bar!
>Actually, I think I'm going to try to talk to Danny one more time before we go.

Why are we so skinny, did we vote on that shirt or something or roll it? I mean even skinny guys like CM Punk or Dean Ambrose are still well into the two hundreds just asking. And who chose the anime theme song as well it just seems cringe-worthy and I doubt most wrestling fans could get behind it.

"He's not a loser, and his jacket isn't co-nevermind, wait here. I'm going to go talk to my friend."

You find Danny seated on a bench in the locker room, with his head hung low. "What do you want, Ace? To gloat?"

"Danny, you know I'd never-"

"Look at big-shot Diamond Danny, thinks he's hot-shit. He's dumb, he's annoying and he think's he can be as obnoxious as he likes because he's Omega's star pupil... oh wait, turns out he doesn't even have that going for him!" Upon hearing that, Danny couldn't help but laugh. "Dude, did you just hear yourself? That's exactly what Omega would have said."

You wanted to reassure him otherwise, but... shit, he's right. You sounded just like your old mentor when you spoke. Not exactly the way you ever wanted to speak like your friends.

"You aren't Omega, Ace. And you're not my leader and you're certainly not my boss, so don't ever tell me what to do." Danny scowled, a real one this time, as he pushed past you to leave. "Screw you, dude. Don't talk to me."

You're his best friend, he's going to get over this sooner rather than later."

To make matters worse, you hear the sound of a voice you don't want to hear. A voice you're worried that you'll have in 20 years time. "What's got you so down in the dumps, Ace?" Omega asks, standing over you with a glass of whiskey. He let's out a fake gasp as he asks, "Did you just have your retirement match? "What the hell am I doing here?!" Kevin looked stunned. "What the hell are YOU doing here? I was here first!"

"No, you weren't!"

"Yes I was! First time I came to this place was before you kids were even born! Last I checked, time was linear! So, what's wrong?"

"After what you said at the restaurant, Danny's been having a huge crisis of confidence. He wouldn't come out with us tonight..."

Kevin scratched the back of his head. "It sounds like he's really doubting himself. You know what'll solve his problems?"

Before you can even hazard a guess, Omega answers for you. "Either he stops being garbage and gets good, or he decides to quit the business. I don't think I have to tell you that I prefer the latter."

"Well well well, look who it is..."

Oh fuck, looks like Kassius actually did decide to invite himself to the bar. "If it isn't the one and only Kevin Omega. What's life like in the unemployment line?"

"Pretty cozy, to be honest. Always a pleasure to meet a fan."

"A fan?" Kassius scoffed. "I'm not some fan. I'm Kassius Orwin."

Kevin raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

"I'm the TWA Champion!"

Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, that's a load of my mind. The way you were talking, I was worried you might actually be someone important."

Hmm, Kassius probably wasn't the best choice to lead away, considering how difficult he is.

"Come on Kassius, I want to buy you a drink..."

"Didn't you hear what I said? Beat it, you loser!"

"Hey, you don't get to talk to one of my kids like that!" Omega pointed a finger at Kassius. "I can verbally abuse them as much as I want because they owe me their training, but you haven't earned the right, pal!"

Patty sighed. "Just drop it, dumbass. Kassius here isn't even worth your time."

"Of course you'd say that!" Kassius yelled, "You're still salty that I banged and dumped your tiny ass!"

Omega took a step towards Kassius. "Okay, first off; gross. Why would anyone ever willingly sleep with Patty? Secondly; that sounds a lot more like your loss, not hers."

"What do you care, Omega? You and her friends or something?"

Kevin places a hand to his chest and adopted an overly formal voice. "I'll have you know that Patty here is the single most important person in my life."

"Is... Is he being sarcastic?" Kassius raised an eyebrow.

Patty shrugged. "He's saying how he really feels but in a sarcastic tone. It's a thing crazy people do to hide the fact that they have feelings."

"Whatever, if Omega wants to get up in my face, I don't care who he is. I'm going to know him out!"

Kevin scoffed. "You're going to knock me out, kid?"

"Yeah, just like I did to your little boy here," Kassius replied, pointing at you.

Kevin's entire demeanour changed when hearing that. "Oh, so you're the piece of shit who injured my student?"

You step in between the two men and push them apart. "Okay, let's not start a fight here, okay? Kassius, just back off for now, and I'll make sure Omega stays out of your face." Kassius shrugs, and takes off to the bar. "And as for you," you turn to Kevin, "You don't need to suddenly start sticking up for me. I don't need you fighting my battles for me."

"I'll have you know, I was fighting to defend the honour of my good friend Patty-"

"-Save it, nobody's gonna buy that, dumbass. Besides, you did a piss-poor job of defending my honour. 'Gross', seriously?" Patty folded her arms.

Patty sighed. "Hey Ace, good job there. As much as I wanted to see a sad, ugly fist-fight between my shitty ex and my shitty... old retired guy I know, you did the smart thing stepping in. And hey... I'm going to keep my eyes on this idiot for the rest of the night, so if you want to run off to talk to any of your... you know, real friends, you don't have to worry about him getting into trouble."

Well, that frees you up to go meet with one of your friends who are having a drink in the bar. But who would you want to talk to?

>David
>Jenny
>Abby
>Actually Patty, I think I'll stay here and chat with you.

Though I do want to talk to Abby but that's never going to happen.

Guy's just been dumped, he could use the company. If the Ghoul brothers came out, we should drink with them because they are seriously good guys to put Ace & Kingpin over the way they have.

>>
>>46102514
Why would it be wise then? Or do you mean out of quest?
>>
>>46102559
Well, its just something we should do. Or we're just going to keep putting it off. And I mean, we aren't likely going to be able to talk to Danny for a while. Might as well do something productive.
>>
>>46102624
True. Didn't think of that. Still I guess this goes to show you should ask questions.
>>
>>46102477
You pushed for a write-in that said we'd do it but it would take a while. Why are you complaining about a delay?
>>
>>46102673
I didn't push anything. I just didn't think we'd immediately hit the bar after the show. Especially when we tried to talk to Danny.
>>
>David

You decide to go have a chat with David. After all, you haven't spoken to him since your conversation with Jenny. It would be good to know if he's okay. You already have one friend down in the dumps tonight.

You find David leaning over the bar counter, drink in hand. You give your friend a pat on the back as you take the stool next to him. "Hey buddy, what's going on?"

David turned his head to look at you. "You know about Jenny."

"Huh?"

"She told me that she filled you and the princess in on everything before she spoke to me. I wish she spent more time actually explaining everything to me, though. All she said was that she couldn't see me or talk to me anymore. So... I gave her the cat, and I wished her a good life."

You gasp. "You gave her the cat?"

"I never wanted a cat," David took a sip of his drink. "I just wanted to do something good for her. I still don't know where I went wrong in all of this."

>You didn't go wrong. Jenny just has some issues she needs to work out herself.
>She's an idiot. You should forget about her, man.
>You could have laid off on pushing a romance just a little, I guess.

I have no problems with write-ins in general. I'm just trying to understand how you flip-flop from "it'll be a while" to "why aren't we getting on with this?"

Becuase I thought we'd do it after the show? The other options seemed to be i'll go right away or sometime this week.

Well, that was a failure of reading comprehension on your part. The other options (on Thursday night, with the characters already in bed) were:
>Of course, anything for you!
>I don't know Princess, I might be busy tomorrow. Can't it wait until Saturday?
You rejected those, which means not Friday and not Saturday. It's still Friday.

David grunts. "Yeah, I know. It... It just hurts, you know? Look, I appreciate you looking out for me, but I'd rather be alone right now. Is that okay?"

"Sure, take all the time you need." You give David a pat on the back as you leave him to his drink. Poor guy, you've never seen him upset about anything before. Morale seems to be at an all-time low overall. You want to point the figure and blame some people... Kassius, Omega, even Patty.... but as much as they go out of their way to interfere with and antagonise others, that wouldn't be an issue if you were able to do a better job as a leader. You really need to up your game if you intend to keep the locker room together.

Either way, you probably still have time to chat with someone else before the bar closes. You just hope you go with someone you can actually get through to for once.

She's probably experienced this shit for a while now. And at the very least, has a head above water right now.

But if we don't we should probably call Owen. He's experienced shit like this before, and probably far worse than what we are dealing with right now.

You decide it's for the best that you call it a night. Nothing is ever going to get better this late at night. You inform David of your plans to take off, and he tells you that he can walk back to the apartment himself. You and Kimberly bid your goodbyes to the group before driving back to the apartment together.

"Okay, so quick question..." Kimberly asks, as you walk through the door of your apartment, "Are Patty and Omega, you know... a thing? It grosses me out just thinking about it, but every time they talk to each-other they're like a very bitter old marries couple... except there's actually a near 20 year age difference."

"Well, those two are... complicated," you answer as you move some boxes out of the way. God, this place is a mess.

"Hmm, I know that tone. You know something that you don't want to share..." Kimberly nudges you in the elbow. "Come on, you can tell me! I'm your girlfriend!"

>Okay...Patty's completely in love with Omega. It's the only reason she puts up with him.
>Something may or may not have been told to me in confidence, and I definitely don't want to betray the trust of the person who told me.

>Do you REALLY want to know the details of our old teacher's love life?

Kimberly shuddered. "Actually, forget I said anything. That's not something I ever want to know about..."

Kimberly takes off her coat and throws it in your room, with you following close behind. "So..." she begins, as she starts to change into bed-clothes, which at the current moment involves taking off her pants and putting on an old gym shirt of yours. "I know this hasn't been the best day. I know you're super worried about Danny... and David... and Jenny... and let's face it, you're a little worried about Omega too. You've taken a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, and everyone's coming to you with their problems. But you know what? It's just you and me here right now..." Kimberly ran a finger down your chest. "And I think you could use a little... cheering up. What do you think?"

>SATURDAY, APRIL 2nd 2016

The last few days have been pretty stressful, but at least last night ended on a positive note. As morning arrives, you lay in bed with a beautiful woman who loves you, after experiencing a night of passion that was two years in the making. You look down at the sleeping woman hugging into you. She's hot, she's sweaty, her blonde hair is a tangled mess, but by god is she glowing. You appreciate that you finally have a chance to forget about everything, all the issues, all the stress, and just live in a blissful moment.

Of course, that moment's not going to last.

You phone starts blaring from your bedside table, causing you to rise and sit on the edge of your bed. The call is coming from Danny, surprisingly. You thought he wouldn't want to talk to you for a long time.

"Hey... Danny... you okay?"

"Dude, you were right. I have been an idiot."

You sigh. "Danny, I never meant to call you an-"

"But it's true! I have! After what Omega said to me, I got so caught up in competing, trying to be better than you, until I realised... that's never going to happen. I'm never going to be better than you."

"Come on, Danny! What kind of attitude is-"

"No! Let's not pretend it isn't the truth! You're important, I'm not. You're smart, I'm not. You're a leader, I'm not. You get the princess, I don't. You're someone, I'm... nobody. Last night, I went home and had a long talk with myself in the mirror... and I came to a decision."

"And what decision is that?"

"Ace... I'm quitting."

And that's it for tonight's thread! Thanks for playing! Let me know what you think!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

God damn it Danny! This was our fault, but I actually wonder if this could even be preventable if we ask him why this was bothering him so much instead of telling him to go join us for a drink.

Hell or high water, we're going to get him and his confidence back. Sorry Kim, this is mission critical.

She'll probably understand. Kim doesn't seem to be the kind of jealous that takes issues with male friends.

Yes, you guys could have prevented this outcome.

>>46105640
I voted for him. Really, all it took was the slightest amount of social awareness to know that calling him an idiot was a terrible fucking idea. The Undertaker, we are not.
>>
>>46105972
Except this 4chan we have no social awareness. If you do maybe point things out to people. Not just go hey kinda dickish.
>>
>>46105972
Same boat as you, voted for Asking why it was bothering him. It was a terrible decision. Unfortunately, it was made, and now we will have to talk to him at length to try and convince him otherwise.

The big point I think we need to hammer home is A)Appologize B) Get to the root of his insecurities C)Ask him why he wanted to be a wrestler, in an attempt to rekindle something, anything within him.

Booker has said that pretty much every fuck up we make can in theory be repaired, it can be done, but its likely going to take a lot of effort on our part(and possibly rolls).

I am really lamenting that I won't be able to contribute much tomorrow.
>>
>>46106027
If you know that you have social awareness, maybe you shouldn't rush to vote so quickly. Smart booking is using what you have and hiding your weaknesses, brother.

>>46106103
>>46106103
>The big point I think we need to hammer home is A)Appologize B) Get to the root of his insecurities C)Ask him why he wanted to be a wrestler, in an attempt to rekindle something, anything within him.
I agree that we need to talk things over with Danny. If he only became a wrestler to be the best, Kevin might be right that the guy's better off not being in the business. But if he wants to do it because he enjoys it, then we should point to examples of guys who weren't "the guy" but were really important in the business. The alternate universe's Bobby Eaton, etc.
>>
>>46106230
Adding on to this thought, we should point out that our match would have been NOTHING without him. Robin didn't go out there and look good on his own, Danny's work really helped put him over.
>>
>>46106260
An excellent point.
