"Ye found 'em?"

"She found them!" Tuile repeats with joy in her breath.

You sigh in relief, and then wince.
That soft spot where Louise zapped you good through the iron bars still burns a bit.

You are Jack Albator, master investigator, defender of justice, and maybe more than a little buzzed right now.

It's important to get in the right 'mindset' before you start interrogatin'.

Recently, your kingdom and everyone you even slightly like came under attack today. Their goal? Kidnap all the heroes of the kingdoms to make a takeover from a hostile kingdom that much simpler.

Wow, you are so glad that it failed almost miserably.
Upon thinking about it, you're almost a little insulted in a way. Why didn't anyone target you?!

You not good enough for them or something? They don't think you're a real threat?!

You hope their mind was swiftly changed today. Every single plot they had upon every one of the heroes was promptly foiled.

Louise was grabbed from her bedroom while she was sleeping, but thankfully Pomelo has crazy luck.
Dorje was almost tricked into going with someone, but quickly realized his error and returned to safety.
Kayda was attacked out in the training field, but she's very fast with her rifle.
Cody was spending 'quality time' with Camille and missed the whole thing.
Yuuki? Well, that was a close one. Thankfully Kayda is a mean little girl.

So that just leaves you! No one even bothered with you!

"No one even gives me the time 'er day." You bite your lip. Your hands find solitude on the brown, soft fluff of a certain princess' tail.

"Jack." Tuile says, "Are you smashed? It's like, one in the afternoon."

>"C'mon Lass! Join me! Have a drink!"
>"Things start to make sense this way!"
>"It's the only thing that has made today tolerable."
>"Besides this thing, I mean. It's so soft and cuddly, move it for me Lass."
>"Aye yer right, I should like, try to sober' up er somethin'."

You think about her question for a moment.
Only a moment.

Without even breaking eye contact, you raise your mug from the table and press it against your lip. Then you hammer the entire mug down.

"Aye' a bit tired. Besides-" You run your fingers through the individual hairs. "It's what made today tolerable.

Well, besides one thing.
"Besides this thing, I mean. It's just so-"
Oh god, it's like a mink's hide.

"Lass, I've missed your fluffy tail SO much."

"Well, it's missed you abusing it." Tuile stifles a laugh. Did you just find a sensitive spot?
"It's just so soft, and cuddl'y." You feel entranced. "It's like my troubles just wash away."

"Well." Tuile leans in, resting her head against your shoulder. Bold move, Princess. The two of you are sitting in the aclove in the library and someone could walk in at any moment. "Let's just enjoy this moment then, I think you've earned it."

She's not kidding. At the rate, everyone in Gallete and Biscotti owe you their tails.

It just feels so pleasant, and relaxing, and-

Tuile's sighing into your shoulder. She slides along and buries her face in your chest.

After a minute like this, you can tell she's nodding off.

>Put her in the bed in the back room and let her rest.
>Nod off, yourself.
>Fall into a tail-induced coma.
>Nudge her, there's something else you'd like to do. (What?)

Tuile twitches and sighs as your fingers find all the spots on her fuzzy brush.

Her breathing becomes more rhythmic, and her sighs seem to- Uh oh.

She's asleep.

You suppose it's to be expected. The day has been unnecessarily harsh on her as well.
She doesn't have the benefit of having heroic stamina to boot.

Gently, you push her up off of your chest. Your plan is to just pick her up and place her in the back.
Just in time to hear footsteps approaching.

There's a light gasp as a blonde maid walks around the corner.

"Ah! Sorry!" Alicot squeaks, you put her finger over her mouth and her tone turns into a whisper. "(Sorry! I was looking for my brother, I'll leave you alone now-)"

"(No no, hold on. Come here a minute.)"

--

"(What.. is.. this..)" Another brown-tailed creature walks into the aclove.
"(Hey Fritelli, what's up?)"

"(Looking for the princ..ess.. What are you doing?)"

"(Well, Aye was helpin' the princess get some rest, but then I remembered.)"

There's now a very sleepy princess soundly resting on your lap, and an exhausted maid pressed against your chest.

"(I remembered that aye had two hands.)"

"(W-well, when you get done here, just come and get me-)"

"(Wait, wait, before ye go, let me show ye somethin')"

--

"(Jack.)"
"(Hmm?)"

"(What are you doing without me?)"

Madeleine has noticed this little conquest you've gone on.
"(What do ye think?)"
"(Doing all this without- Forget it, make room.)"

--

You don't exactly know when you lost consciousness.
Maybe it was between the blonde tail and the scale tail.

Either ways. This feels like the best rest you've ever had.

Slowly, your eyes start to flutter. You find yourself in the same pile you remember leaving off on, minus several members of your sleep. Alicot and Tuile remain resting next to you.

>Okay, enough of this, time to work.
>Nope, back to sleep.
>"How long was I out, even?!"
>Wake everyone up, important work to do
>Sneak away.

Interesting tie we have going on here.

1. Nope, back to sleep
2. Wake up Tuile and start to head off
3. Okay, enough of this, time to work

Writing last post of the night, we will pause and pick up in the morning.

Alright, everyone remember to keep it bumped.

Don't see why we couldn't bring Tuile along since it fits with the winning option, though.

As much as you would like to just stay here and drown, you feel as if you've got enough of it out of your system.

The booze's effect seems to be wearing down, and there's no sign of a hangover. Which further proves your theory that tails are magic and they can heal any illness.

You cautiously slip out from between the maid and the princess, and quietly leave the aclove.

You're going to guess that you've been out merely two hours, just judging from the sunlight streaming through the window. That gives you a good few hours left before sunset.
Sunset, you believe, is when the real fun begins.

You think it's pretty ballsy for them to attack in the broad daylight. In fact, they must be really panicking at this point if they continue their assaults even after the first, second, third, AND forth ones have been routed out. Which means that if there are any left; they must be extremely desperate.

Desperation breeds two things, a knack for acting in ways you normally wouldn't act and a sudden realization that you have to play smart.

Playing smart, to you, would be attacking at night with whatever forces you have left. You don't know if Bearland has any forces left who are not trapped inside of a cage. You also don't know if any of the high-order cat-people staying here are the ones who ordered the raids from the hooded Gallete rogues.

What you do know, is that you're pissed. Not as pissed as you were several hours ago, but the burning is still there!

So now you need to decide, how are you going to protect the castle while at the same time routing out the person who sold you out in Catland.

Fortunately, you may have a lead.

You keep going toward the guest bedrooms, and are accosted by a knight.
"Halt!" A very tired, half-conscious brown-haired knight steps up to stop you. "Who- Oh."

"Hey Antonin." You greet the brown-haired Gallete knight. "How's it goin'?"

"My shift goes on." He pauses, "For another two hours."

"'Ey that's great." You pat his shoulder. "Hang in 'ere, soldier. Imma talk to Charlotte."
"Uh huh."

It's a tough time for everyone.

You walk through the door to be met with an interesting sight.

"Okay, let's start again." Yuuki has that harsh edge to her voice. "Who in this castle can order the Ninjas?"
"W-w-w-w-w-" A well-dressed, but beatened and burned, cat-man hangs upside down.

Next to him is Charlotte, and Louise. Louise seems to be a little enthusiastic.
"Can I shock him again?!"
"W-w-wAIT! M-Maybe I- I."

"Leon." Charlotte responds in a somber tone. "I am stripping you of your title if we don't get to the bottom of this. I know you have a link to them somehow. What are you getting out of this?"

"I-"
"Shock him."

There's a scream, and the joyful clapping of a little girl with all the powers of Thor himself.
Of course, then there's your joyful clapping.

You're so proud of them, you don't even know how to put it into words.

You have never been so proud of them, it almost brings a tear to your eye.

"Aye. What's up?"
Yuuki's expression softens as she notices you standing by the door.

"This is him!" She points to the guy bound and gagged. "This is the guy who was the contact inside Biscotti! This is man!"

"How did ye find 'im?"
"It was on that note. The one you found from the camp. It had his signature AND someone's seal on it. Kayda found a similar note on the bear guy she dragged in. That one only had the seal on it."

Yuuki turns back to the man. "So now the question is, where do you fit into this?"

Charlotte prods him, "I think he's a runner."
"I just like to shock things!" Louise seems happy, but for all the wrong reasons.

"Aye, learned that earlier." You rub the sore spot on your shoulder. "So, whatt'wa do with ye?"

You walk in front of the bound man, and he tenses up noticing how much bigger you are compared to him.
"His title will be stripped, no doubt." Charlotte crosses her arms. "Yet, he still hasn't budged."

"Listen here." Yuuki sinks down to his level. "You have nothing at this point. If you want the rest of what you have, then you need to start talking."

"Err, it's not-" He eyes you carefully. "I really don't know what you want! I don't know who owns that seal!"

>Maybe a trip outside the barrier will help ye.

"Woh, wait wait! You wouldn't! I'm royalty here!"

"And aye'm drunker than yer dad when he plowed yer mum." You shake him a bit of emphasis. "So think about that for a moment before yer next move."

He's sweating.
And pale.

"..I don't know who the seal belongs to, b-but I can tell you who I was talking to!"
"First off, aye want names, not deals. Second off, lemme see yer seal."

"Ah! Uh, pocket. Left pocket."

You reach inside and quickly take out some of his personal belongings. One of which is a small, rubber stamp coated in wax from use.

"All aye gotta do, ye see." You taunt him some more, "Is take this to our investigator and see if the wax matches. Then we know exactly who ordered the assassins."

He goes silent for a second, and then glares down at you.
"Y-you can't do that."
"I can, and aye know just the person to do it."

There's silence, neither of your eyes breaking from one another.

"Maybe.. Maybe we can talk, right?"
"Aye."

"I'm gonna kill him." Charlotte storms out of her room.
"Hang on, Lass. Hang on. We only have a meeting point." You roll the fuzzball in your hands and toss him to Yuuki. "It's simple, we use the meetin' point to see who arrives, and we interrogate 'em too"

"Nope. that'll take too long." Charlotte turns around. "How about we just hang every Gallete noble within a hundred feet of the meeting point any time within the last month?"

>Aye, I guess that's a strategy.

"Aww Lass, hold on a minute." You manage to keep her from storming off and executing half of the generals. "We got whar they're meeting, why not get em all in one fell swoop?"

"Yeah but-"

Charlotte tries to think of a reason why that's not a good idea, but then just sighs.
"-But I'm just so damn mad. How dare they."

She starts to growl.
"How DARE they try to kidnap our hero, MY HERO! Those BASTARDS!"

She punches the wall with her fist, but manages only to make herself squeak as flesh-meets-stone.

"..I just want it to be over."

"Awwwwww." Louise appears from around the corner. "I WANT IT TO BE OVER TOO!"

Without any warning, Louise leap-hugs Charlotte. Her sudden weight nearly knocking the princess to the ground.

"'ere's my plan." You help Charlotte regain her footing, even with Louise hanging off of her. "We're gonna have 'em meet tonight, in the bar. Act like nothin' is wrong, or anythin' is amiss."

"Then what? We burn down the bar?"
"No Lass, that's where my drinks are." You cough, "Nothin' against giving it a renovation, last time the place got real nice after a nice big fight. Aye say two's a charm."

"So this is your big plan." Yuuki sighs, still holding the catball. "You're going to go wreck the bar again."
"Yuuki's right, this plan doesn't fill me with confidence."

So, molotov's cocktail?
>>
>>46063892
Or fire spitting
>>
>>46063892
It is a bit worse than that, I think, when the fire is drunk.
>>
>>46063857
Says it's relatively recent, so if Dorje is from Tibet, I don't think he could've gotten any.
>>
>>46063909
Isn't that the sort of thing that could end up dripping down your body and then set fire to your clothes if you screw up?
>>
>>46063917
New plan: get all the kids drunk. You know, to prepare them for future life issues.
>>
>>46063912
Still, she might end up exploding the alcohol, so probably best she doesn't get any until she's old enough to work things out properly.
>>
So I'm guessing we're going wtih the bar plan? We're kind of tied with choosing another place. if I count greentext posts.

And if we do go with the bar plan, it looks like everyone's plan is to get drunk. Not a bad plan, all things considered!
>>
>>46063978
>exploding
Just keep her away from the high proof stuff and she'll be fine.
>>
>>46063956
I can see no problem with superhumans capable of using magic getting drunk.
None whatsoever.
>>
>>46063993
I'm cool with it.
>>
>>46063997
But then JACK can't get at the high proof stuff.
>>
>>46064004
It helps that innocent civilians tend not to die when otherwise fatally wounded

>>46064029
He just needs to finish it off beforehand.
>>
So Cody's got whiskey, Yuuki's got sake, Jack's got beer...
We should probably try and set something up for the three after this, just let them kick back and have some drinks.
>>
>>46064042
>It helps that innocent civilians tend not to die when otherwise fatally wounded
Their homes and belongings could be destroyed, however.
>>
>>46064042
>He just needs to finish it off beforehand.
And thus we see Jack rushing around in a panic trying to get at all the good stuff before Kayda sets it on fire.
>>
>>46064077
Details, details...

>>46064053
Oh god, I'm like so allergic to sake. One sip and I pass out for two hours, and wake up forgetting why I am.
>>
>>46063993
Sure.
>>
>no no, it's a great plan!
>get everyone drunk, work it out from there!

Writing!
>>
>>46064111
>Oh god, I'm like so allergic to sake. One sip and I pass out for two hours, and wake up forgetting why I am.
Thankfully as superhumans there's no risk of that for Jack and Cody!
>>
>>46064111
But don't you see, if we wreck places then the princesses might get busy and then we'll no longer get any fluffy tails!
>>
>>46064004
It's a foolproof plan! Don't be such a downer.
>>
Hey.
I think I've got an idea for how to beat the bad guy hero dude.
We simply need to lure him into a place filled with alcohol, then have everyone throw fire there.
Fwoosh.
>>
>>46064154
You know I was thinking about that, if they were truly immune to mortal toxins then they couldn't get drunk at all! That would suck.

>>46064174
Eh, they can delegate. As we drunkenly molest their soft fluffy tails.
>>
>>46044215
What just was our maximum tail collective, I wonder?
>>
Actually how much alcohol does it take to get drunk for heroes?
>>
>>46064248
Probably had a horde of maids in addition to what we already hd and such around.
>>
>>46064225
>You know I was thinking about that, if they were truly immune to mortal toxins then they couldn't get drunk at all! That would suck.
Maybe it's part of something subconscious?
They don't want deadly poison, but they do want to get drunk, so they can.
>>
>>46064263
If there were any unnatural or magical resistance we'd have heard complaints about it by now.
>>
>>46064279
Dammit keyboard, stop screwing with me.
"in addition to what we already HAD"
>>
>>46064291
...Come to think of it, if someone slips poison into a drink, would that manage to slip by, or would the poison be stopped while you'd still get drunk?

"Naw, naw, Princess. It's a great idea. They needa meet eventually, right? Just use this guy's stamp to recommend a meeting before the raid tonight."
"Raid.. tonight?!" The princess seems taken aback by this.

"Well ye didn't think they were just going to leave all their comrades and their king here to rot, aye? The ones who attacked during the day are the dumb ones. Now we gotta think of a plan to work over the ones who really know what they are doin'."

"W-wait. What if we just.. increase security?"

"Increasin' security hasn't helped so far. If anythin' the mole we have inside this castle walls are the reason they manage to keep slippin' in. Someone here seems to know what everyone is doin' at all times. We gotta fix that."

Charlotte crosses her arms, "I don't see how drinking is going to solve this problem."
"Aye, it'll be fine. 'Cause!-"

You grab the little girl off of Charlotte.
"She's gonna be thar! And-" You grab Yuuki around her shoulders, "So will she!"

"You're.."
"Pullin' all the stops! If everyone is off drinking, then there's no one left here to kidnap! Plus we'll all be together."

"That's great, but what about the prisoners?"
"Not worried about 'em. The ones we caught already squealed and they weren't the bright ones anyway. We're after the big catch!"

"Jack, I hope you know what you're doing. This sounds really dangerous and bizarre."
"Of course not! It's fine!"

'Of course not' refers to 'I hope you know what you're doing'. Really getting drunk and starting fights seems to be what you're best at, so by your logic it's best to stay within your element.

Charlotte sighs as Louise and Yuuki follow you. Louise seems energetic about this plan, but Yuuki seems more than a little apprehensive.

>Who else should come along?

>All the knights!
>Cody!
>Kayda! Let's give 'er a drink!
>Dorje!
>The princess!
>Everyone, all the warriors!
>Leave someone here?
>Other?
>>
>>46064291
Reminds me of xanth logic
>>
>>46064395
>>Everyone, all the warriors!
Ain't no party like a mission critical party involving everyone ever
>>
Mm, would it help if we fluffed the enemy bear king or something before we left, maybe brought him along?
>>
>>46064395
>>All the knights!
>>Cody!
>>The princess!
>>
>>46064552
Oh god, I'm >>46064431 how could I forget the princess, being not a warrior but still good to join.
>>
>>46064587
she's got magic remember
>>
>>46064618
Hmm true true can still hold her won but I doubt she'd get grouped up with "warriors" without being called out
>>
>>46064395
>Offer to start fluffing people and then hide them away/bring them along

I mean why wouldn't we do this?
>>
>>46064395
>Everyone
>Even Aligot and Aligot
>>
>>46064753
One of those should be Alicot, I presume?
>>
>>46064797
Yes.
>>
>>46064753
Of course double aligot is fine, if you're into that
>>
>>46064395
>>Everyone, all the warriors!
>>
>Everyone! All the warriors!

Sorry about that
WRiting!
>>
Clarification: Princess includes 'everyone'.
>>
>>46065227
Does it also include the maids?
>>
>>46065188
No chance of having the prisoners fluffballed?
>>
>>46065443
After earlier? Almost all of them still are.
>>
>>46065477
How long does fluffballing last, exactly? Seems like an imprecise punishment to weigh in on our poor victims.
>>
>>46065579
Unclear and ambiguous, which is how I like to leave it.
>>
>>46065579
I want them to be fluffballed so that we can store them away from any rescue operation that might or might not happen.
>>
>>46065731
I said this to my girlfriend once. She slapped me.
>>
Hey, that girl who fought the enemy commander with, what was it, a nat 100?
Is there any chance she can be marked for some SpecOps training program or something?
The Nat 100 might be some justification for herb eing someone with a lot of talent.
>>
>>46065748
Ahahaha, what was the context?
>>
>>46065758
That was Pomelo, and I'm sure she's lined up for special ops here or there. Seems she's the best we have non hero wise.
>>
>>46065760
She came home with some new lingerie and asked me how she looked. She didn't look bad, but I intentionally said nothing to tease her. It didn't go well.
>>
>>46065813
Ohhaha you poor fool, when they do something for you to approve of you fucking APPROVE.
>>
>>46065844
I learned. Me and my dick learned that night.

That's right.
You're bringing everyone.
Even the princess!

The way you see it, the more people you have in the chaos; the better. Especially if they're all people that all of yourselves know.

You stamp the envelope with the 'summons' for tonight inside. After a quick trip to the meeting spot (which was within a stones throw from the castle, ballsy idiots) you're ready to start planning your attack tonight.

Fritelli taps your shoulder in the hallway shortly thereafter. It seems someone came and picked up the note.
Perfect.

"So what's your big plan?" Fritelli has the misfortune of asking.
"To rub yer tail some more when I get back."

"SHH!" She puts her hand over her mouth.

She looks left.
And then she looks right.

Then she sighs.
"D-don't say that out in public! Have you no shame?!"

"Fritelli, ye known me long enough to know I don't."

She backs off, and tries to adjust herself to not seem so embarrassed.
That's when you decide to push your luck even further.

"So, tail ready for round 2 tonight?"

Ouch.
She has a strong jab. You won't deny it. It would knock you flat on your back if it weren't for your gifts.

"Let's please ignore that and talk about something else." Fritelli huffs. "Like, you say you're taking everyone. How are you going to keep everyone from recognizing the six most recognizable people in Biscotti?"

>Disguises of course.
>We'll just dress heavily and slip in later. After everyone is liquored up
>Magic. I happen to know an expert.
>Distractions.
>No, let's talk about the tail some more.
>Later tonight, right?
>Other?

With those rolls and the sword she has? Absolutely. You can ask Fritelli about it, even.

Right now, everyone is mostly amazed that she did it instead of Bennet.

I need to find more brown-haired dog-girl-knight pictures for her.

It is, and I need to find more 'serious' pictures of her.

>Distraction magic of some kind.
>So later tonight, right?

Writing last post of the night. I'm tired.
>>
>>46066092
Fine and dandy, I'm sure you'll summon up something fun
>>
"Disguises of course."

"Disguises." Fritelli repeats that, and then seems to look from your feet al lthe way to the top of your head. "You know, you're like a head-height taller than even Bennet, right?"

"Aye, that's not a problem though."

"Why not?"

"I was thinkin' of having a little distraction, too."
She seems even more incredulous.

"A distraction? Won't that make you even more noticable?"
"Aye was thinkin. Several weeks ago in the mountain village. Aligot used a spell of some kind to let us slip into the bar there. Same thing applies here, aye? Except we'll have our faces covered this time."

"Well, okay. I admit then." Fritelli puts her hands on her hips, "You've actually thought this out. Far further than I expected you to. Way to go, Jack."

"Aye, it's nothin'. Bein' prepared is my job."
"Well let's not go too far." She playfully taps your shoulder. "But I'm glad you're not just going in there blind. Do you have a strategy of finding who you are looking for?"

"Got one of those too. The way I see it, there's no real harm in trashin' the place. So Aye'll just tell the crew to trash anyone who they don't recognize."
"T-that's where we're going to differ. You guys are going to be drinking, right?"

"..Well, Aye will."

"Telling your group to trash everyone while intoxicated is a poor decision. I implore you to reconsider."

She's right.

"Any better ideas, then?"
"Nope, I would just search for people who clearlyh don't want to be seen or remembered."

Huh.
"Aye'll think about it."
"Please do."

"So, with that out of the way."
You grin.

"..Later tonight, right?"

Slap.

Thanks for the thread everyone. I was hoping to get a bit further but this works too.

We got some progress going, petted some fluffy warmints and set up for a big bar fight. With a constructive purpose!

A bit concerned about Louise though. No way Jack is the source of bad influence, so I wonder what it is. Maybe she's just being all French.

I'm pleased with how productive we ended up being.
And the conversation was fun!
