You've weathered through winter and now it is your 3rd year and second spring of independence; your small family has since then swollen into a large independent community of individuals, but time will still tell if you mature into a genuine people or just fall back into old habits.

Previously: The Pilgrim returned and has since been taking things easy- taking a bit of break from his adventures to spend time with family, we were able to make our first flying unit the "Pixie Model", but for the most part we put in the effort to make piece with the establishement that is our Mother & Wife; Lilith.

Collect Genetics. Expand the Psych. Establish your Independence. Create Beauty. Suffice the Ego.

+Current Environmental Development+ Spring 3rd year
Winter has passed and bloomed into Spring; this has a few implications:
-It is wet, horribly humid, rainy and fog permeates most levels with any sort of open-air access during the mornings.
-The stair case leading to the upper levels isn't as flooded, but the small pond on FLOOR 1 has become swollen with tadpoles, insects and small guppies and minnows.
-Most forested areas (particularly B1) have begun seeing a dramatic increase in traffic between animals as they breed and rear their young on the spring growth.
-Floor B2 ("Canyon" level) is horribly crowded with nesting bird and flying reptiles colonies on the ledges of the broken levels. There are also a few Wyvern mated couples.

+Societal Development+ Population Explosion
-Your communities population has almost tripled in the past few months due to Lilith's flesh now extending into the Labratory and "Lockers" replacing all the artificial vats with biological ones of Lilith's flesh; making them more efficient and cutting out the middle man altogether. Lilith can now theoretically house as many Homonculi as long she has room to expand and organic material to consume.

+Environmental Development+ Cloudy with a chance of Blood Rain
-Lilith has been taking full advantage the freedom of the Oort Blood cloud ability has given her; making it rain about once a day every second week. This has had some interesting side effects:
-Vegetative growth has increased dramatically, but Carnivorous plants and "Vegimites/Fungimites" (Sentient Root vegetables/fungi with legs and feet) have started to grow and spawn.
-Blood Maidens are seen the day after a rain; the blood pools congealing and turning into semi-sentient Lilith-shaped blood elementals. They are friendly to your own people and animals, but have been aggressively picking fights with the undead at night.

Little late today, but you guys can go ahead and roll: D20 for Actions, D100 for Ideas.

>Interact with the new growth of spring and other such curiosities.
>Roll 14/10, 10/10
>Decent Rolls, Consistent success.

The Apothecary boys are out in full force this season as it is their first spring and The Technician has been telling them all about Frogs, Salamanders, Newts and so forth for the past few weeks. They are practically vibrating by the time they get to go outside.
Sample wise it's very much more of the same: Lilith appreciates the material, but it isn't anything she hasn't already documented before- This little field trip is entirely for all the Boy Homonculi and their obsession to play with, collect and handle fish, insects and amphibians and this is more "fun" than anything. The Technician is quite pleased as they are finally able to share their obsession with small animal collection and releasing with other members of their community- a grand time is had.

There are however two hang ups:
>>45967517
The Vegimites and Fungimites turn out to be VERY rowdy and aggressive if disturbed. Quite skilled in jumping, kicking and headbutting the absolute horse-radish out of intruders that they feel threatened by. Several of your Apothecaries and The Technician are left with bruises and scrapes from a particularly bad foraging session. A large, angry, mob of Soldiers and Salamanders come over to enact petty revenge on the vegetation for hurting "their boys", but the victory feels.. bitter sweet when it turns out the Vegi and Fungimites are.. they're literally vegetables, there's no meat.

The other problem is the Carnivorous plants: They are just large enough that everyone precious to the community (the boys, the imp and the pixie models) are all just small enough to fit inside their mouths and pitchers. The Amazon has to enforce a safety perimeter around certain trouble areas and has begun scheduling "trimming sessions" to cull numbers of trouble plants. The only thankful solace is that they do not have teeth.

>I think our Imp needs to be U P G R A D E D
>Roll 1/20
>Completely and total unarguable failure.

The Technician has grown more and more curious about the supernatural physiology of their Imp Familiar: The implications behind a being entirely composed of sapient Mana has them horrendously interested. The small treasure Imp has been a valued tutor in the arts of magic, demonology, ritual and so forth and a begrudgingly satisfactory mastabatory aid, but The Technician is motivated by LEARNING, KNOWLEDGE, their only lust is that of awareness (and collecting beetles during the summer, seriously- they can't wait to catch some of those big head-sized stag beetles with the Apothecaries this summer).

Carrying The Imp in their arms they bring the little demon down to the Labratory, "Oy, so watta we up to taday, my littl' peach faced mastah~? We's goin' to do sum Alchemy? Maybe sum light de-man-alagy, may-haps~? Or we's could cut to tha' chase n' you could pound me like a rabbit in tha' lockers again?" That was a good quickie, but no- "I'm interested in seeing if I can make you.. "better", The small pupiless yellow eyes of the demon light up very briefly before he puts on his poker face. "Oh my, n'd ow are ya gonna do that?"

Several Hours later The Technician is left exhausted, The Vat is cut and torn wide open and The Imp in his new "Devil" body steps out.
His Horns have grown large, thick and curved, his black, puffy, hair extends into an almost "boa collar" around his neck and shoulders, his face and cheeks have become sharpened, his body is a sleek, toned, towering on bone heels with a lithe frame of proportionate, tall, lean muscle. He now has four sets of male genitalia on his groin like some kind of disgusting male udder. He also has a third eye on his forehead but that seems like the least interesting addition.

The Good news his ass looks amazing and his accent seems to be gone- At least something went right.

>those fukkin "plants" being feral and shit-try to tame or otherwise neutralize them.
>Attempt to Domesticate the Carnivorous plants.
>roll 91/100
>Very High, near perfect success.

MEANWHILE, The Laborers have grown an almost compulsive fascination with the carnivorous plants: they find them to be beautiful, majesting, breathtaking and fascinating. They've begun investing and spending hours of time and effort attempting to domesticate and study the plants: how they flower, why they need to eat, the different species, sub-species, variants, everything down to their soil, light and watering preferences.

It takes them a couple of weeks and a number of them have to be pulled out from the Mouths and Pitchers of the plants, all while shouting, muffled on the inside things like, "Don't cut it! Don't cut it! Just Pry it open- No, yes, yes- Under the, no, no, by the second prong 1ft away from the corner of the lip." and "DO NOT PUNCTURE THE PITCHER, Just, look- you lift it like a toilet seat."

>+Horticultural Development: Successful Domesticated "Dire" Venus FlyTrap & "Dire" Pitcher Plant.
>You now have the means, methods and resources to plant and control the cultivation of The Dire Venus Flytrap and Dire Pitcher Plant. These plants produce no goods or materials beyond the Pitcher plants acidic stomach juices and are one of the few species capable of slow-semi-noticable movement... But who knows- you may find a use for them.
>Your horticultural experience has also allowed your people the trivial knowledge and awareness to successfully identify and avoid being eaten by these plants and if they off chance they are- they're capable of escaping from the outside through proper available safety training without harming the plant.

>Attempt Genetic Sampling and Cataloging of Plants.
>Matching pair of 40's, 33, & 21.
>Below average failure, but consistency and one double.

The Technician hasn't actually placed any FLORA into the vats in the 3 years they've been experimenting and working with Lilith- this spring however feels like a good time as any though to start experimenting with plants.

A number of samples are collected: Mushrooms, Nuts, Roots, Moss Shoots, Leaves, etc.. of a variety of plants and fungi are all brought together to have them dipped in the vat to see what Lilith can do with them and..

Nothing happens. The Technician waits for a bit more- a few minutes pass and the Vegetation just sort of.. floats there, the clippings actually start growing/regenerating a little if albeit very slowly. "Lilith, Lilith, you're watching this, right?" Lilith slithers up idly and a mushroom gently bops her head as it floats by. "No, Why- O-oh, oh, when did you put this in here?"
The Technician explains their motives, Lilith's extension idly plays with one of the mushrooms before responding, "Oh, well, I mean, I've never actually broken down plant matter- I usually just, uhmn, 'eject it' it when I find trace samples in flesh, but I guess I could try.."

Lilith consumes the Fungle matter no problem, she just pops the sample into her mouth, "Hmn, I didn't know Mushrooms and Chitin were made out of the same components, that's actually quite interesting." She eventually finishes up seeming quite satisfied with the new experience before she moves onto the plants and.. She starts to fidget, cough, squirm, the membrane on the vat slides open and she slithers out into the open air hacking.
She draws out her claws and very precisely pulls out with the end of her nails a wad of Moss she had swallowed- The sample had grown almost five times it's size when inside of Lilith and she was "chocking" on it.
"A-ah, I'm sorry, It's. They're not Dead, do you understand?"

>Celebrate the Spring: Initiate a sort of "Birthing" Festival to celebrate and commemorate the population explosion at such a fortuitous time.
>58/100, 22/100
>Devil Rolls supporting roll 69/100
>High End Sexy Success.

Your community is overcome with the superfluous and overwhelming urge to celebrate the good times that have come their way: Even more siblings being produced, the garden continues to expand, you have the potential for a zoo in the basement of your laboratory and everything seems to be going just splendidly.
The Spring air is damp, warm, and humid and the blood rains have kept the Undead out of your territory- allowing the Evenings to be uncommonly lovely and scenic. Your community manages to come together and you unanimously organize your very first annual celebration:

>+Societal Development: New Holiday: Conception Festival.
The Conception festival is an all day event and takes place from dawn from dusk within the interior of your level: a bonfire is lit a bit of food is brought out for the few individuals who can eat and large barrels of liquid Mana are poured and rolled out to the spot for Homonculi to drink and be merry all day. The Boys hold fishing and insect derbies- collecting a variety of specimens purely for amusement and bragging brights-, the women bullshit, drink and sexually harass the boys at their leisure. During the evening hours though the "conception" part of the festival has a tendency to get more explicit, but it's mixed in with a bit of Ghost-stories from The Pilgrim and a few of the more intrepid Soldier and Pixie units.
>The Devil Familiar
In an act of Solidarity The Technician's Devil familiar also contributes in his own way to the Celebration: Using a racial Cantrip he sows small kerchiefs, thongs and waist skirts made out of a splotch, purple fabric he's able to summon called "felcloth"; He also lays back and spreads himself out for Full Public Access.
>>
>Oddly quiet in here?

Ok so I have an idea, if we get some kind of Dryad like unite she could grow up the walls of the tower and make alternate ntrances via growing through the rock over time? her causing these breaches will enable our Fey units to enter and scout, thoughts?

>>45969026
>Detain an Undead to feed to a plant and or experiment on.
>Roll 2/20
>Undead Counter Rolls 7/20
>Both rolls fail, but yours just a little more so.

With the Blood Rain and the Carnivorous plants developing around your Territory the Undead have had to change their schedule and movement- they still come down when the "Bell tolls" at night, but they do so always just a little later and in different formation. Taking conscious consideration to the hazards and dangers now present in the levels below them.

Your Technician is very interested though in Studying an Undead and requests a sample- even a "live" one if one can be detained in such an ironic state. A party of Soldiers and Salamanders are sent out to explore the upper levels during night hours to see what they can find.

They scale up the stair case; higher and higher, past the 2nd floor and up to the 3rd floor to scout around. The Third floor immedietly.. looks very lived in: There seem to be a number of huts, shacks, tools and equipment laying around the entrance and the Stair Case appears to have Elevators or lifts built into the side of it that go up and down into the ceiling.
Even though it's completely devoid of light, your Girls can make out Red'ness, bright, vivid red fields in the distance. The Entire level is overwhelmingly defined by a distinct, heavy, metallic scent.

They then see someone.
A pale young man, an unnaturally pale, looking man with sunken eyes, a sharp face, black hair tied up and a blood red robes that he's hoisted and tied around his thighs and stained from age and use. He.. He seems to be hauling a filled fishing net, some traps and other equipment before he notices your Homonculi and panicks.
"O-oh no, shit, shit, ELIZABETH, ELIZABETH, GET BACK IN THE HOUSE. NOW." He drops everything and begins fishing around in his dirty robes, "Shit, shit, damn it, where is are my beads, I can't fucking cast without my beads, shit, not now, not here."

Your Homonculi stay back for the time, cautiously observing the person from a safe distance- they've never seen another intelligent being before and are infinitely curious about him, but he seems very distressed by their presence.

"No, no, no, O-oh, OH, here we go." He finally brings his hand out from the pockets of his work robes and pulls out a line of strung, dark-red, wooden beads. He then immediately ties them around his wrist, feeding one bead after another through his hands and mouthing off quietly a list of names, "Abaddon, Asmodeus, Baphomet, Beezlebu.." The Homonculi don't quite know.. what to make of this as the frightened man seems to just be murmuring names to himself and playing with beads while slowly backing away... "Should.. should we do something? Is this normal" They ask themselves, not confident in the behaviors of other beings.

Eventually a woman comes running from out from the red fields; entirely encased and wrapped in bandages that tightly hug every inch of her body. She runs clumsily across the interior while carrying a basket on her back, uncaring of the contents spilling as she tries to not trip over herself and makes a beeline towards the young Man. The Man shouts at her, "No, NO, ELIZABETH GET INSIDE, THE FERALS HAVE COME." She can't speak and pantomimes a little, nervously waving her hands and pointing towards the interior of the level and then back to her friend, "No, no, forget my rifle; just get to safety. I love you. Go."

She doesn't seem to want to leave his side, but he raises his arm, there's a distinct air-current felt and a 'gong' noise as the pressure dissipates towards his raise hand, "I'm so sorry Elizabeth, but you need to get to safety- TURN UNDEAD." The Women immediately loses her senses and runs towards shelter in a panic.
The Young man then quickly leans over, snaps off the end of a gardening tool and raises it like a staff with his free hand still clasping on his beads.
"What do you want."

>Initial Contact
>Massive Polarized rolls
>Isaiah rolls 16/20
>Isaiah does let his guard down, but does not 'freak out'.

Your Girls respond to the young man and he is a extremely unnerved by the way your Homonculi so casually carry themselves, ignorant of the tense situation or confident in it's outcome. He rattles his bead, mouths off some sort of mantra, your party makes out the word, "Hand of Baphomet" and The Man's arm cracks, snaps, extends unnaturally into a horrid, black-furred, clawed limp.

The Man Addresses your party once again, hoisting up his make-shift staff.
"I am the Priest Isaiah; in service of her Lady Baba Koschei and you are 'ferals'- unowned, unordered and unregistered Homonculi devoid of any master or alchemist. I've heard stories and do not wish to see if they are true, state your intentions, I am prepared to defend myself if I have to."

Your Homonculi respond in a polite, calm and articulate manner. They do not make any sudden movements and address the worried man as peacefully as possible.
Isaiah seems disarmed and calmed by your people's self control, he lowers his arm, but does despell the enchantment, "I see."
The Soldiers continue, asking him about The undead at night and The man's own origins and so forth.

"The Mindless undead you've seen are made and collect by The Lady Koschei and sent down to the lower levels to clear them of creeps and looters. I was summoned by Lady Koschei to act as her Bishop and attendent; I have since then lived here on this level with my wife and would like to continue doing so in peace."

You attempt to invite Isaiah and his wife back to your community to smooth things over diplomatically; perhaps over dinner.
Isaiah does not seem interested however, he only seems interested in ending this unsettling exchange.

When you ask him if he could pencil in an appointment or audience with Baba Koschei he seems to take offensive, even more so when you request that he might be able to teach your Technician a few spells.
He Huffs, "Oh, sure, I'll teach your shaman or whatever a few spells, sure, why don't you observe as I demonstrate- " He raises out his spread arms over his head, pointing his staff up and bellows out, "why not LEARN REPEL GOOD AND EVIL" there's a swift breeze and..

>You do not possess a good or evil alignment, you are unaligned.

Nothing happens. Isaiah is now mildly embarrassed and this situation has turned extremely awkward.
What's worse is that his Wife Elizabeth has returned with what appears to be an old musket. She looks back and forth for a brief moment, just assessing the situation and becomes visibly annoyed- seemingly disapointed that Isaiah has over-dramatized the situation.
She very briefly huffs and waves about, "No, no, dear they're Homonculi. No, no, they were.. Look, it's- Stop it, I was worried. I know- I know you can."

She.. She just sort of walks on over to your party and starts shaking the hands of your Girls and bowing slightly.
She seem genuinely apologetic and hands the Soldier leading the party a large dried fish.
Isaiah, annoyed, shouts out, "I'M PRETTY SURE THEY'RE THE ONES THAT KILLED DUDLEY."
The bandaged woman, annoyed, waves her hands back at her husband, "I DON'T CARE IF HE WAS A "HEADLESS ASSHOLE", WE CAN'T JUST CONVENIENTLY FORGET THAT."

I'll just wrap it up so we can return to normality:

Elizabeth as your Homonculi have come to know turns out to be quite cordial; she... she can't talk at all though and it probably has to do with her not visibly breathing or having a pulse, but your girls seem more at ease with her even if she's communicating through charades.

You...Your Soldiers can't really make much out of what she's trying to say, but she comes off as genuinely pleasant with a charming and neighborly attitude your people have been missing out on. They have no idea what she's saying, but she waves her hands and arms about, motions towards her husband, briefly snapping her fingers and then drawing a circle in the air, he becomes flustered, "I'm, WE'RE NOT GOING TO SERVE THEM TEA. THEY DON'T EVEN EAT."

Elizabeth shrugs her shoulders and gives him a bit of a look, "I know we don't eat either, but it's the principle of the matter, honey." She raises her arms and motions to the field, "Yes, okay, we can give them a bushel of fruit, but then they're leaving." Isaiah disarms himself (both literally and figuratively- removing the enchantment and having his arm return to normal) and begrudgingly wanders back to the field.

Your party is given a black woven basket filled with a strange fruits resembling hand-sized dark-red strawberries, they smell metallic. Elizabeth very briefly picks one up, turns around -to avoid contact- and unravels a bandage before taking a bite of one of the fruits. She fixes her bandage then turns around; she's chewing on it happily, her linens shuffling and stained red with the juices. She gives your party a thumbs up and encourages them to try some.
Isaiah mentions, "You might want to cook it though, I mean.. Before you eat it, if you do eat food."
The Soldiers are more interested in what Elizabeth looks like under the bandages- She has to slap one of their hands away, but isn't offended.

>Alright, I think that's enough of them for now.

Alright, reflective of the polarizing rolls:

>Isaiah is horrendously distrusting of your people. You did after all kill his Co-worker, though he most likely recieved this news out of context. Rip Dudley The Dullahan.

>Elizabeth seems quite charmed and open to meeting and interacting with your people. She is a sweet and weird lady.
>Elizabeth can be interacted with -social wise- she is a peppy and intrepid little lady and loves her husband very much, but isn't as strict when it comes to authority. Undeath has made her quite composed and relaxed.

You guys can go ahead and roll for regular actions again.

>Attain the Ability to acquire and catalog plant DNA
>Using Previous 99/100 and overwhelming census
>Horrendous, unapologetic success.

Lilith and The Technician have been trying to attribute plants into your genetic catalogue for a while now and.. and it just hasn't been working out, they've been making VERY little progress. The main issue they face is that their entire alchemical process run and relies on Flesh gestation and digestion through Mana- essentially recycling flesh into the sort of primordial soup that all living beings produce and so forth so it can be remolded, reshaped, etc..

Plants are not made out of flesh, surprisingly enough. Worse yet, Plants cannot be digested by Mana and will grow wild and virulent when exposed to it in it's liquid form.
Plants are completely separate from all things flesh and it is a REALLY big turn off for Lilith to be working with them, The Technician has been doing most of the work with the Laborers of all Homonculi coming in clutch with their expansive knowledge on plants.

>+Alchemical/Technological Development: The Mandrake.
It Takes about a Month of work, but eventually The Technician and their team of Laborers and Apothecaries are able to develop a complimentary interface devise specifically for Plant Matter: The Mandrake.
The Mandrake is a large, non-sentient, non-sapient, plant growth attached to Lilith as a kind of Accessories Prosthetic; she can connect to it and use it to efficiently digest, understand and decompile plant material.
The Mandrake is kept within the laboratory- as long as it's watered and fed mana it doesn't need sunlight. Lilith however thinks it's gross, "Slithering into is.. It feels so itchy and uncomfortable."
>>
Rolled 14 (1d20)

>>45974365
Ok lets do something Lilith WILL like, lets make a few more Amazons together so we have a force ready to expand up the tower, how is the generic gathering of DNA by our little frog boys doing?
>>
>>45973672
>take the fruits back to the tech and tell him to (if we know what cooking is) cook them and if not then give it to lilith and see if she can tell the properties ETC)

>Situational Freebie.

The Soldiers come back and report their finding to The Amazon Unit and she herself eventually brings down the basket of "fruits" to the Laboratory and Lilith and The Technician just as they were finishing up their work on the Mandrake Project.

The Amazon unit kneels down and hands one of the fruits to the Technician who initially inspects it, looking it over, feeling it and giving it a quick sniff. It doesn't immediately smell like anything and seems to be covered in an almost waxy coating- they throw over to the Vat and Lilith catches it.
She takes a bite, the fruit is juicy, she's pleasantly surprised, "Hmn- This is Meat?! This is some kind of Meat Fruit." She laughs, pleasantly surprised, "Oh and it's good too- hmn, look, there's even a little bone in there, hmn." She cuts it out from the top where the fruit had met it's stem; she digs out a tiny little spine- it resembles a tail bone or a piece of spine.

The Technician is now extremely curious and has one of the Fruits peeled and cooked for them by a Laborer. He tries it.. It's.. It's still very juicy, it's got a good texture though, they didn't put anything on it since this is a >controlled tasting< but The Technician enjoys it, "Hmn, this would, this would be good with potatoes and some greens- it needs, ah, it's almost like a steak or a haunch or something, Pilgrim, could you come here?"

The Technician and The Pilgrim eat several of the cooked meat fruits and turn it into a little dinner date.
The Tech also uses it as an excuse to awkwardly introduce and explain the new Devil body the Imp has to their Pilgrim brother who seems even less impressed his little brother is associating with such over-developed demons.
The Dinner though is still pretty good.

Although you can't directly control The Pilgrim he is a part of your community and wants to see it grow and develop. He's noticed a couple things though; one is the Devil sexually harassing his little brother, but magic is magic and he'll refrain from judging him too firmly- The Pilgrim has had his own rebellious moments.

The other thing though is the Mana Forge. You have a Mana Forge collecting dust at your Arcanum and The Pilgrim has seen one of these things before, he immediately summons a few labor hands and asks them about the device, "Ah, no sir, we haven't touched it since it's construction. The Technician has tried to use it, but that had less then ideal results." The Pilgrim nods, "Could you fetch me 'Princess', 30lbs of charcoal- you should have some in the dry waste disposal and 2 barrels of liquid mana please."

They do as there told and The Amazon unit arrives shortly carrying the barrels, "What is all this about, Pilgrim?" He puts his hand up to his lips and shooshes her, "Just watch, you'll find this interesting- I found this out on one of the levels closer to the ground floor." He neatly begins filling the grooves surrounding the construction with liquid mana until the entire forge is golden and dimly lit with it, after that he crouches down and begins placing the charcoal underneath the Forge's Bell in a particular pattern.
The Pilgrim shuffles out from underneath it, before he motions and the two of them give the bell a push before backing away from it.
The Devices seems to "suck in air", gong loudly, there's light, heat and static admitted from below and the Mana quickly dries up- The Bell loudly gonging, rocking and vibrating.
The Process takes about 30 minutes, but it turns the Charcoal into coal.
"That's it?" The Amazon seems unimpressed, The Pilgrim assures her, "No, see, it's Alchemy it changed the-"
"It's Coal, sir."

>Inquire about Demonology with Imp/Devil Familiar
>Roll 53/100
>Devil rolls counter roll: 49
>Not exactly ideal.

Despite the change in appearance The Technician's Familiar has retained most of his attitude and charming personality- if anything there is as he would put, "More of him to love" more so than ever before.. and quite literally.
Still as ever Loyal he continues to dutifully teach their small master everything they know of Alchemy, Spell-casting and Wizardy, educating them on new and exciting methodologies and a surprisingly plethora of rituals. It isn't actually very long at all before The Technician is casting simple spells and successfully replicating basic rituals- much to the delight of their familiar, "My word, my most beloved master- you'll have me glazed in golden raiments in no time at all with how quickly you're developing. Though, you know me- I'm but a simple servant, even a pearl necklace would appease me~" Still a master of seduction.

The Technician has gotten quite, curious though- They see Their Familiar doing simple and kept secret cantrips that they refuse to comment on: weaving that mysterious 'felcloth' fabric and occasionally summoning foreign meat and drink. Curious, The Technician confronts them about it while feeding The Devil some Meat Fruit.
"My, my, little master- you've come bearing such treats for your humble flesh sleeve? Come to fatten me up so there's more to grab onto?"
"What do you know of Demonology, Imp, tell me of your kind and your spells."

The Devil stops eating and the vibrant, grin from his face dissolves, he reaches out his hand and gently pats the Technician's head, slowly running his hands through their blue hair, "Children do always ask the gripping questions, don't they?" He sighs, pulling The Technician in closer.

"Do you dream, my sweet little master? Tell me-

The Technician answers honestly, shaking their head and telling their Familiar of their dreams of stillness, rolling grass, spending time with an "Emily Koschei" and the visions of a female figured shrouded in complete darkness.

Their familiar nods, "Good, good, it would be best that it stayed that way. I will tell you this and let it sink into your cute little head as a disclaimer from a concerned adult: I come from a hellish and endless realm- fueled and motivated by a chaotic and unbiased desire to consume and breed eternally. You would do well to retain your innocents- it is charming, but more importantly I do not relish, nor do I have any nostalgic longing for the companionship of my own kind."

This all seems to be a little bit over The Technicians head, The Devil grins from ear to ear and laughs to himself before rolling their eyes and wrapping his hands around his small master, "WOZZAT then, you moight ask-my littl' mastah~? "summoning demons ETC" so probably not the best school of magic but is there something similiar he knows of? thats...."imaginative" for example like psion magic or blood magic or is demonology a more broad term.
hes got to know "some" type of magic- anyways

idea:now that lilith is basically the "lab"- she must have some type of cocoon or other effect that will effect a unit longterm- if they sit in the mana (like how the demon was effected)
why not try "soaking" someone- maybe even the tech if hes up for it
(long shot but bare with me)

>NUMBER OF THE TECHNICIAN.
>WEIRD BUT INTERESTING RESULTS.

It's been about a month since your scouting party found out about the married Undead couple living on the 3rd floor, but since then they haven't heard much of anything from them. The Technician is interested in meeting them, but they just haven't had the time what with the Experiments and Work around the Arcanum.

They get an opportunity though, not quite what they wanted, but an opportunity.
Elizabeth. The, the weird one, she's..
She's come down from her level: she's carrying a large basket, has a side purse of sorts and is wearing a dark blue spring dress that looks to to be hand sown from scavenged pieces of fabric. She wears her clothing over her bandages and has a little matching shawl and hood on to protect herself from the sun. Though, as she makes the hike down she's careful to bounce and skip from individual spots of shade while holding up the hem of her dress.

She's eventually found purchasing produce from your laborers in the garden: Eggs, Milk, Hunted game, Goat Meat, etc.. Politely paying in a mix of coins and very old looking coloured bank notes she pulls out from a small coin pouch in her purse.
The Technician acknowledges her presence, but she doesn't seem to be aware of the context of their position in the community.
She gives them a piece of dried meat to nibble on, holds their hand and tries to find them an Adult- eventually relinquishing The Technician to a passing Love-Doll who seems just as confused as The Technician is, but welcomes the hand holding.
Elizabeth then gives The Tech a quick head pet, exchanges some gestures with the doll and heads out.

The Technician is told later by the Laborers that she has been doing this every second week.
The Soldiers, Salamanders and Apothecary boys have also come clean admitting that they've seen and "talked" to her on their missions and routine patrols.

>DOMESTICATE CHIMERA AND OTHERS AS HAS BEEN MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY IN THE THREAD
>Roll 10/20
>Solid, completely even, consistent minimum success.

Barring the weirdness that is your friendly neighborhood Elizibeth: The Laborers, Apothecary boys and even The Technician are interested in keeping and tending to more animals within the Arcanum.

So far you have an Aquarium with Otyugh and a Family of Chimeras- The Chimeras to be frank have taken to domestication like a fish to water: they've gained weight, they're docile and are little more then essentially sedan sized house cats.
It is not secret that the Soldier units love them as hunting animals and the Dolls love them as gigantic lap-pets; something about this relationship, just.. just feels natural. You have four of them- though, the big one; the Daddy has gotten older and older and his years are starting to catch up with him.
The Chimera you originally tussled and feared so cautiously has gotten old, grey and only has a few years left in him.

Domesticated animal wise: you've got a full hen coop and a sizable herd of goats tended to quite methodically by the laborers, they're curious though if anything can be done with the other animals within the interior, they're not opposed to putting in the effort or even expanding if they need to, it'd also be good to get more work coming in.

>+Agricultural Development: Improved Livestock
It's only a incidental development since the Tower doesn't provide much in the way of domesticated animals, but the Laborers have been working their magic:
-With a little help and a little scavenging: they've dramatically expanded the Otyugh's aquarium using the left over vat equipment. Your community could humor quite a respectable freshwater aquarium in the lab.
-The laborers have also once again come in clutch and have set up a few +experimental+ Bee Boxes. They want to see if they can try and make honey.
>>
Bee fairy horde when?

>Commune with Death to find out more about what the fuck is going on in the tower
>Roll 18/20

Later that night The Technician climbs into bed; tuckered out from Neighbors, Bee Boxes, horribly excited about the potential of having an aswesome fucking aquarium in the basement, like, we could put sunfish in it or bass or carp- Their familiar slides their head down the covers and "quiets" them down, 'manually'.

They Dream, they dream a deep, solid, cool darkness. They the figure they're looking for- The woman of darkness, enshrouded in the purest form of darkness through which no light or sound can escape and yet she can paradoxically be seen so clearly.
"Sit, come to me, my adopted child of chemistry." Her voices is soothing, but authoritarian.
The Technician strolls over, teetering back and forth, they eventually come up to the figure, but in the darkness it feels as though they're moving closer to them.
Sitting down next to them, the Technician speaks, "I met someone today, a very unusual Woman. My sisters and brothers told me she was known as a "married" woman and with a husband."

They begin hearing a distinct twinkling, cracking sound and a voice speaks up, "Yes, the Husband is just a young man, he may have strayed from the path, but he can still see it close. This woman though, she is, peculiar- your senses do not fail you. " The cracking and snapping get louder, but not abrasive, it's gentle, quiet, subtle- like the sound of feet cracking frost.

A new figure begins slumping and dragging itself forward from out of the darkness.
A terrible thing, compiled, horrible, dreadful, slow and embarassed- unnatural, it doesn't make sense, but it seems to hold itself together regardless.
The Technician doesn't seem afraid of it though, they feel sadness and just a touch of.. Familiarity?

The figure is pulled from behind though and it falls over, crying out a chorus of discomfort before it's dragged back into the void like a piece of meat.
The Tech wakes up

The imp we have is the same imp we've always had: He's made entirely out of mana, so when he got MORE mana he just made himself a bigger and better body.

>I'd like to hear your thoughts on game design.

Okay, so, basically what I had in mind for a "Harvest moon game" was this:

The Player character is sealed/thrown inside of a Dungeon forever and must basically create a life in there.

There's two zones: Your farm/The Town which is a top-down view akin to normal harvest moon games within the genre. Your "town/farm/initial hub zone area though is completely devoid of people or anything beyond like a fountain and your home which is a small abandoned hut and camp fire. It's all dungeon ruins.

The Big GIMMICK/MECHANIC though is in order to obtain tools, resources, NPCS, and expand your area you must DUNGEON CRAWL.
The Second zone is the DUNGEON and it's composed of 2D PLATFORMING levels where you manuever through courses, explore areas, find resources, rescue npcs and kill monsters and bossess.

The idea would be you spend equal amounts back and forth farming, dungeon crawling, etc.. etc.. building up your farm, home, and town into something respectable throughout the seasons.

There would be multiple courses/levels and dungeon areas to complete and unique resources as well as individual levels reacting to the changes in the season: snow, flood, heat, etc..
>>
>>45979169
mmm, certainly an untapped field to work in, and one that more organically deals with extremely large dungeons.

I agree that by that premise itself, it's already better than Rune Factory. I haven't had the time for Stardew, so can't comment there.

The issue is that it then conflicts with the mining aspects and farming/other activites within dungeons. It becomes more like a set of different games rather than aspects organically part of each other.
>>
>>45979344
>The issue is that it then conflicts with the mining aspects and farming/other activites within dungeons. It becomes more like a set of different games rather than aspects organically part of each other.

The way I've been picturing it you basically balance like 3 aspects in the game:
Farming, Social/roleplaying and Dungeon Activities.

Farming is pretty much what you expect it to be: planting and doing them crops up and raising livestock and maybe crafting, cooking, etc.. Home Ech.

Social/Roleplaying would be playing the dating game, romancing may-haps and making friends with NPCS you have a bit of a fancy for.

Dungeon Activities would include killing monsters, collecting resources, taming livestock, hunting, FISHING, fighting bosses and exploring the zones and so forth.

My intuition tells me that, this wouldn't be like other Harvest games- you're in this for the LONG run and year 1-2 or maybe even 3 are basically just the "tutorial levels" where you unlock areas, levels, build up your town so it resembles some convenience and start managing your time and resources, you know?

Like, the whole premise is you start out with nothing, but there's a big huge dungeon to just go and carve out your own place.
>>
>>45979482
i get that, it's just that all of the resource collecting activities would be completely 2D activities, which works too in retrospect.

My take on it would keep the top-down perspective, but instead of the farmer fighting it's more like Pikmin. Each of the Sprites you recruit/rescue are your bodyguards, who protect you as you mine/fish/farm within dungeons. This immediately limits the resources you can collect from dungeons by the strength of your minions.

Farming in dungeons has significantly boosted rates, like 3x growth speed and no need for fertilizer, but farming on the surface can be done perfectly safely.

You can then do the social stuff with your Sprites and villagers as you please.

As an additional aspect to your farm management, maybe the buildings, props, and crops you have planted in certain areas on the surface can affect the randomization of particular dungeons, changing up the monster and drop tables.

>Question; are the the pastebins canon or non-canon? If so wouldn't Lilith get ehh.. jelaous?

The pastebins are non-canon tomefoolery, but even then theoretically speaking no.

They're homonculi and have a different sort of morality towards monogomy, like, strictly speaking they're all siblings, so don't think too hard on any of this.

Dankest Dungeon meets Harvest Moon, could be cool
>>
>>45979169
Psst, regarding Dungeons, try getting Vox of Dungeon Life Quest in this. I'd like to see what both of you could think up regarding dynamic dungeons, emergent plotlines and other game design shiznit.
>>
>>45983858
....I suppose someone was going to suggest it at some point.

But for the love of god, keep the lewd here and not there.
>>
>>45983937
Agreed on that count
But seriously, DLQ's Dungeon is different from HCQ's Dungeon, but if a dynamic system could be made to randomly generate a dungeon we could tweak said random generation process to gain a different style of play every time we gen a dungeon.
Kinda feel that it's going to be a game that can go in many directions - you could go Harvest Mooning it alone in your dungeon corner, or you could adventure and use your starting 'home' as a headquarters thing, or go Civ and make/recruit your villagers and shit. Like talking NPCs into joining your group, or making golems/homunculi to cultivate the land around you.
It could be cool, that's what I'm saying.
>>
>>45983994
from a design standpoint, that's too ambitious. Too many different games rolled into a single package.
>>
>>45984063
Well yeah, but at least dream big before downsizing it into more manageable form.
Maybe a set Floor One to do all your basic farming, and randomized other floors when you want to go adventuring/civving it up. And I meant Civ in the loosest sense, maybe more like 'a group of adventurers/farmhands' would be cool.
>>
>>45984152
dream big, but dream clearly. Think about how you would want it to actually play, what kind of GUI you want to see.

There's a thing called a Vertical Slice, where you make a mockup of what the final product is supposed to look like. It is surprisingly effective at telling you when your individual ideas are great, but together they don't mix that well.
>>
>>45984202
Okay, the game as I see it starts like Harvest Moon, top-down perspective, starts in a small (maybe half-ruined?) house and farm plot in a corner of the dungeon. There are some gates/stairs/teleport runes, all except one or two are 'greyed out' at the start. They lead to semi-randomized dungeon parts, maybe one leading to the nearest settlement (could also be randomized, from a goblin tribe to a survivors' walled town, to a glade of fairies perhaps?) and the other leading to the 'wild' parts of the dungeon, where it's randomized, and you could adventure and bring back new plants or research materials and foraging stuff. Sometimes the 'wild' dungeon parts also have settlement parts that you could fast-travel to. You could recruit NPCs in settlements to work for you by doing quests, and they could help out in the farm part, go on their own adventures and bring back items and goodies, or stay in their settlement and broker trade agreements with the leader of that settlement or something. Back in your home, you could research stuff both technological or magic that could help you do things better, craft new stuff, which could lead to making golems/automatons/homunculi to help you do farm or adventure. Things you grow/raise could provide components for spells, or items and equipment.

So basically like that. Equipment can help you adventure better, farm better or diplomance better. I think that's the basics, unless you have other ideas on how it could go?
>>
>>45984357
it's pretty good. Too far away from Cyclops OP's concept to be the same game, but good in its own right.
>>
This game idea really reminds me of Rune Factory.
