Horrified by the bizarre scene that they just witnessed, the two hired suits huddle up in a corner while whimpering like little girls. It's really unsettling to see someone who's around the same build as my own father to be acting like this, but I can't really blame them.

"Oh God..." one of them repeats over and over again. "What the fuck WAS that!?"
"I didn't see nothing," the other mumbles. "You didn't see nothing either, got it?"
"Wwwwwwwhat do you mean, 'nothing!?' Those swords fucked that Faceless guy up and-"
"And there's no guarantee that they won't decide to fuck -us- up again," he says, cutting off his comrade. "You think that we'd be able to get off with just a missing finger if that happened?"
"Oh Jesus Christ we're both gonna die."

But s much fun as it is to see these two guys scared out of their minds, I should probably get around to leaving my little "message" before Theresa gets too impatient with me.

My light sword lingers in the air for a few seconds before stabbing deep into the floor.

"OH GOD IT'S BACK!" one of the men screams. "I TOLD YOU MAN, WE'RE GONNA DIE!"
"Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee..." the other mutters while repeatedly making the cross gesture.

But I'm not really paying attention to them. Instead, I focus on the act of vandalism that I'm about to commit. And as I raise the light sword in the air, for whatever reason I find myself flashing back to one of the many arguments that I watched Mina have online.

Oh that's just perfect.

"......you seriously just carved that into their floor," Theresa says.
"Yup!" I say, grinning ear to ear (not that anyone can tell).
"Why did you decide to leave -that- as your parting message."
"Because it's funny," I reply. "And also true."

Carved in the floor as neatly as I could manage are the words "FACELESS A SHIT." All caps.

"NOW are you done?" Theresa asks.
"Yeah," I nod. "time to get the hell out of nere?"
"It's long past that time."

Theresa then begins to start towards the door, but I pull back.

"What now?" she groans.
"Umm..."

I look in my free hand. At the SEVERED FINGER in my hand. I don't even know what the hell possessed me to pick it up, or why I'm not puking up my guts looking at it.

Must be the adrenaline.

Yeah, that's the story I'm going to use.

Materializing another sword of light, I float it over towards the stand where the gaudy turtle statue lies untouched. And just as the men cower in fear that GHOST SWORDS are going to destroy the thing that they were hired to protect, I convert it to a bright flash of light that fills the room once again.

"Oh God..." one of the men cries. "If that stupid thing's go-"

His jaw drops.

"JESUS CHRIST A FINGER'S ON TOP OF THE CASE!!!"

While the men scream at the sudden appearance of a severed bodypart, me and Theresa hurry out of the room and into the hallway. Relieved by the lack of people to serve as obstacles in our path, we move along...

It seemed like CC was super drained and that will probably fail an endurance check. That being said, the moment those 2 goons report what happened the entire building will be flooded and the likely escape routes blocked.

>And we can consider it impossible for CC to hustle down the stairs in any amount of time before the exits are blocked.
Speaking from personal experience here.
Going up eighteen flights of stairs is absolute hell, but going back down isn't any real strain at all aside from the time it takes.

>writing
>>
I recall in high school having to do body weight exercises involving stairs and after awhile your knees get rattled and doing anything sucks. Going off the fact that she could barely run several blocks I went with the worst case assumption of how shite her physique is.
>>
>>45912971
I say this as someone completely sedentary. Going up a lot of stairs isn't a big deal if you're just walking. Sure if you try to keep the same pace as for regular walking you'll start to have labored breath after five flights or so, but there's no reason to rush.
>>
"Mind if we take the elevator this time?" I ask as we approach it.
"...yeah, fine," Theresa shrugs. "It's probably more dangerous for us to stop on the stairs after what happened, too."

Memories of the countless action movies with stairwell gunfights that I watched with my father fill my mind.

"Good point."

Just as I'm about to push the elevator button, a familiar chime sounds and the doors begin to open. Luckily, Theresa's completely on point and pulls me out of the way before like ten sunglasses guys spill out into the hallway.

>[1/?]
>>
>>45913690
>[2/2]

Once the elevator looks to be free, me and Theresa hurry inside... just in time for the stairwell door to slam open and even more armed goons to come pouring out. Suddenly I'm really glad that we didn't go that way.

"Oh God..."

Theresa leans against the back wall as the elevator door closes and we begin the long ride down.

"You okay?" I ask, still holding her hand.
"Just exhausted," Theresa replies. "Mentally, I mean."

It seems as if we're about to have some kind of a moment here, but then the elevator starts to slow down and Theresa goes back into alertmode. Pulling us to the side of the cab opposite the floor buttons, she crams us into the corner until it finally comes to a stop.

"........"

Theresa goes rigid as the door opens.

"Huh?" a man's voice calls out. "It's the elevator."
"Why's it back down here?" another asks.
"I dunno, maybe it's that Faceless guy?"
"Ain't nobody retarded enough to take the elevator after breaking in somewhere."

Next thing I know, the business end of a handgun is thrust into the elevator cab, followed by the man who's holding it. He sweeps left and then right, lingering way too long with that thing pointing at me before finally leaving.

"C'mon, hurry up before the door shuts," Theresa whispers to me seconds before pulling me along with her out of the elevator.

Fortunately, we don't have any more guns (unknowingly) pointed us on the way out of the building. And since this place is locked from the inside, we're able to just push the doors open and hurry on outside. To freedom.

I've never been so happy to breathe fresh air.

We waste no time in heading back to the convenience store that serves as Theresa's "secret base," walking right past the store attendant to get to the back room.

"Great, our stuff's still here," I say, breathing a long sigh of relief when I see the duffel bag still sitting in the windowsill where Theresa left it.
"I wouldn't have left it here if it wasn't secure," Theresa replies.
"Well I'm glad it is."

I can't wait to get this tight uncomfortable creeper clothing off of me.

And for the first time in like two hours, Theresa lets go of my hand.

"Don't forget to stay quiet," Theresa says to me in a hushed voice. "Since they can hear us now."
"Gotcha," I nod.
"Oh-" she points at me. "I'm just gonna burn that stuff you're wearing so you don't have to worry about being careful with it."
"Aye aye."

First these stupid goggles that have been pushing the lenses of my glasses into my eyes are removed. Then I pull off this stupid ski mask and toss it to the ground.

"Aww man," I groan while looking into the bathroom mirror. "Now my hair's all sweaty and matted."
"I know how you feel," Theresa replies as she pulls off her wig and places it inside her bag. "I'm gonna take a long shower like the second I get home."

Next goes this stupid tight turtleneck that I just KNOW the other Theresa schemed for me to wear. It feels SO refreshing not to have my torso constricted like that... I have no idea how the hell Allison's able to stand wearing those tight dresses she likes to put on when she goes out clubbing.

But then again, I've always been a "comfort over looks" kind of person.

Now completely topless aside from the gauze binding her chest, Theresa strains to get it undone. Looking at her doing that makes me feel like a total jackass for complaining about the way that shirt fit.

After a little while, Theresa finishes packing all the stuff she brought with her back into her duffel bag. Slinging the huge thing over her shoulder like it was nothing, she takes my hands and we head back into the store proper. And once the awkward process of returning the bathroom key to its proper hiding place is complete, we leave the store and go outside.

"Well..." Theresa breathes a long sigh, "...that was certainly a night."
"Really," I nod. "Thanks for helping me out, Theresa."
"Thanks for not murdering him," she replies.

Not that I didn't kind of -want- to, but still.

"So I guess I'll call you up tomorrow?" Theresa asks.
"Sure," I reply. "As long as it's not too early."
"You don't need to worry about that," she laughs. "I'm probably not gonna get up before noon after all of today's bullshit."

And after another round of goodbyes, we part ways for the night.

While I -am- on the way back to the hotel right now, I'm sure that Charlotte's worried sick about me. Especially since I don't see Rhaccy around anywhere, she must have no idea where I am right now.

And that is why I do the responsible thing and call her up.

"Cecile!?"

She's so loud that I actually have to pull the phone away from my ear.

"Oh my God are you okay!?" Charlotte shouts. "Where are you!?"
"On the way back to the hotel," I reply. "Sorry for making you worry."
"I'm just glad that you're safe!"

Wow, it sounds like she's on the verge of tears.

"how far away are you?" Charlotte asks. "Because if it's too far, I can have a cab sent to where you are..."
"No, that's fine," I shake my head. "I'll be back at the hotel in like ten minutes."
"If you're sure..." she mumbles.
"But I -will- be longer if someone ate my food since I'm freaking starving and-"
"Your food's safe," Charlotte laughs. "Want me to war-"

"If you say so," Charlotte sighs. "Just hurry back, okay? Gabrielle's worried about you too."
"Will do."

As I put away my phone, a massive amount of guilt drops onto me out of nowhere. I mean, I hadn't even really thought about how much Charlotte worries about me before I went and did this whole burglary thing. If Charlotte had ran off and did the same thing while I was stuck waiting at home, I'd probably be tearing out my hair in anxiety until she came back.

And that is all the motivation I need to pick up my pace and hurry the hell up.

Once I feel the Synapse that results from my approach, I end up breaking into a light jog until I finally reach the hotel. And surprisingly enough, I'm actually not winded!

Not wanting to waste that little miracle, I waste no time in heading for the elevator and going straight up to the top floor where my lovely girlfriend awaits. When I open the door to the suite, I'm met with the delicious aroma of reheated Chinese food...

So surprised that she nearly drops her phone, Charlotte's face turns bright red as she hits me with that cute pouting thing she does when she's pretending to be mad. Naturally, I have no intention of apologizing.

Either risk now, on our terms, or risk later, on his terms. One of the few decisions CC could be proud of in this quest.

Looks like we managed a decently long thread this time around, with a decent amount of activity to boot.
Depending on how fast or slow things go, there look to be two threads max before the end of the in-game day and we switch over to Joshua for a little while. I'm kind of looking foward to that.

The next thread will be Sunday night.

Sure, but we can still regret making them worry.

What is CC's current percentage of vine overgrowth?

Do you think you’ll ever do a school episode where the cast actually interacts with anyone not part of the main-group? Seems like there are only about a dozen people in the world (making that annoying hotel guy one of the most important people in the world).

It's not a percentage thing, it's an all-or-nothing event.

Maybe?
The cast is purposefully small in contrast to Princess Guard's 60+ named characters and school isn't exactly the most important place in the story but I might do something with it eventually.

And now I sleep. Thanks for playing!
