Every story has an ending. Boy finds girl of his dreams, boy gets together with girl. Boy finds multiple girls of his dreams, boy ends up with harem who decidedly love-hates him. Boy settles with girl not-of-his-dreams, girl stabs boy in the chest with a cooking knife. You, however, are not that boy. You are not sure whether to be thankful or angry about that. But the fact remains that you are said boy's best friend and quite frankly, you are rather tired of it. That is not to say that you don't love him like a brother... because you do. But the moment he ends up with a girl, the story will be over, the curtains will draw, and everybody that you know and love will disappear forever into a sea of bad spinoffs and sequels. So it is your duty as the main character's best friend to cock block him so you all don't get sent into story-oblivion. God, this fucking sucks. Your greatest deeds can be amounted to making sure your best friend stays a virgin. Basically, you are an asshole. You pray that when you finish high school, this little charade will be over and you can get on with your own life. But for now, you and your best friend are – and will – be tied to the hip. Let's get this show on the road already.
You and Yori are currently at Hiro's house, partially waiting out the rain, partially hanging out. The three of you are drying off... which mostly means that everybody has been throwing their clothing into the wash. It's not really a nuisance to you, since you can just steal Hiro's track suit. But as for Yori... well. Yori walks into the room with an oversized dress shirt and a pair of basketball shorts. Not that you really cared about the shorts. Now, you know that Yori's already pretty cute but this is some dangerous stuff. Her cheeks blush a furious red. Now, if she showed this to anybody but her childhood friends, she would probably die of a heart attack. “Hiro,” you cough, trying to save Yori from her shame. “You said you had your math notes, right?” “Satoshi, I thought we were all supposed to hang out!” complains Hiro. He rummages through his bag and tosses over a stack of papers to you.“Hiro, my friend,” you chuckle. “This is hanging out.” “This is classwork!” He weeps, covering his face with his hands. “To think our friendship is nothing but a paper filled with equations.” “To be fair,” you say, shaking your head, “All you ever do is ask for my English notes so I'd say we're even, right?” Yori giggles. Looks like she's feeling a little better now. “It kinda feels like old times again, doesn't it?” “Yeah,” you remark, rolling your eyes. “Except I'm a lot handsomer now.” You grab your bag and hand the English notes over to Yori, who then hands it over to Hiro. Yori stands up. “Should I go make some tea?” You nod your head. “Go for it. That'd be nice.” Hiro, wistfully sighing, says, “You do know that this is my house right?” “Green or black?” Yori asks, smiling mischievously. With resignation, Hiro replies, “...Green is fine.”
Hiro returns with your clothing, which you thankfully accept. Yori, after changing in the restroom, is decidedly happier. And after the homework, the video games, and small talk, it's already late in the evening. Yori is about to head out. Hmm.>Stick around to talk to Hiro. You did have something to say about the track club.>You remember you had something to return to Yori. Better go get it.
>>45880890>Your greatest deeds can be amounted to making sure your best friend stays a virgin. Basically, you are an asshole. So we're the worst wingman ever?
>>45880916>>You remember you had something to return to Yori. Better go get it.Let's not be a dick. Could always mention about the track club on the way to school tomorrow.
>>45880951Pretty much the opposite of a wingman. While we wait for people to join, here's the rundown with characters so far:Hiro: Your best friend and protagonist of this anime. Dense as a sack of bricks, but trusts you completely. Actually a nice guy. Yori: Both Hiro's and your childhood friend. Kinda shy and tags along with the two of you a lot. Patricia: Transfer student.... she's blonde and stuff. You think she hates you.Shina: Class rep. You and Hiro have known her since junior high. You also think she hates you.Yuko: Track team captain. Pretty tall. You have no idea how to deal with her. Also, she initiates friendly punches with you and they hurt. A lot.Nina: You have no clue. She said she was some wife candidate for Hiro. Seems like a loony.
>>45880916>You remember you had something to return to Yori. Better go get it.The track club can wait 100%.
>>45880916>You remember you had something to return to Yori. Better go get it.
>Stick around to talk to Hiro. You did have something to say about the track club.Helping Yori would be nice and all, but this isn't about helping Yori. We need to keep our boy away from the Sporty girl lest he wind up in a relationship covered in bruises.
>You remember you had something to return to Yori. Better go get it.“Thanks for having us over, Hiro!” says Yori, waving farewell. You should go and get her umbrella. It's only fair since... you know. You kinda left it hanging on an umbrella. “You know what? I'll walk you back, Yori.” “Alright, you two, I'll see you both tomorrow.” Hiro sneezes twice, rubbing his eyes. “I think I might go to bed early tonight. I'm pretty tired.” As soon as Hiro shuts the door, an uneasy silence climbs over the two of you. You take a few brisk steps ahead of her and approach the tree where you hung her umbrella. Thankfully, it's still there, stuck between two thick branches. With Yori's short stature, you know that she'll never be able to reach the umbrella. So, with a carefully placed jump, you snatch the umbrella away from the tree and shake the remaining droplets of water away. Then, as Yori comes closer, you throw it at her underhanded. “Here,” you say, flashing her a big smile. “I'm sorry I had to do that but I had some, uh... business with Shina and Hiro. It was pretty urgent.” “...I don't get it.” Yori looks like she's about to burst into tears. Aw, fuck. But she inhales through her nose and blinks, rubbing her eyes with her free hand. “But, um. I'm here if you want to talk about it sometime!” “Yeah,” you laugh halfheartedly. If you had some way to explain it to Yori, you would. “Maybe some other time.”
You get home, tired after the longest day you've had in a while. You forgot how bad the first day of school is. But despite that, you've managed to make it out alive. “Hey Mom,” you call out to the house, “I'm home.” No response. Your mom's probably asleep already. Probably a long day of work. Walking into the kitchen, you check that she made dinner. You're sure she immediately went to sleep right after. You could go to sleep too, since you've already done your schoolwork but... it's not that late. Your mind wanders to the track team. You'll ask Hiro about it later, but what about yourself? Should you actually join? >There's no harm in joining. Worst case scenario, you could ditch every practice.>Hold onto the thought for now. You don't have to decide this instant.>Sounds like unnecessary trouble to join.
>>45881568this is 100% unnecessary trouble. If we join Hiro will join then we'll have to stave off one more bitch. Nay, we won't join.
>>45881568>>Sounds like unnecessary trouble to join.Nah.
>>45881568>Sounds like unnecessary trouble to join.
>>45881568>Hold onto the thought for now. You don't have to decide this instant. We could possibly use the track club as some leverage with Yuko later.
>>45881568>Hold onto the thought for now. You don't have to decide this instant.Probably unnecessary, but just in case.
>>45881568>>Sounds like unnecessary trouble to join. That's time away from cockblocking Hiro.
>Sounds like unnecessary trouble to join. Yeah. Sounds like it'd be unnecessary trouble for you to join. You don't want your free time to be consumed by running. You already do enough of that chasing Hiro around. Plus, whenever you're around Yuko, your shoulder seems to always be sore the next day. You generally like having an unbruised body. You're not particularly hungry, so you decide to save your dinner and reheat it tomorrow morning for breakfast. For now, all you want to do is get to your bed and get some sleep before you have to do all this tomorrow too. Almost immediately as you hit the bed, your alarm clock starts blaring into your ear. Man. You've slept a good 10 hours, but why does it feel like you've slept none? Well, whatever. You take a quick shower and get yourself changed into a new uniform. You eat most of the breakfast-dinner and head out straight away. Hiro's walking on autopilot, yawning all the while. “Yo, Hiro,” You nod to him. What's up?” “Not much,” he says, yawning again. “I didn't sleep too well. I think the rain gave me a cold or something. I'm more worried about Yori. She's out sick today.” “Oh, well, uh... that sucks.” Your mind wanders back to leaving her umbrella on the tree, getting her absolutely soaked. Agh, guilt. “I hope she gets better.” “Yeah.” Hiro closes his eyes for a bit, nodding off while walking. That's impressive, almost as much as it is stupid. And because of it, he has no idea that he's about to barge into Shina, who also is not paying attention where she's going. You know exactly where this goes. >Better pull Hiro back. >Watch for now. It'll be amusing, at least.>Walk ahead of Hiro and take the bullet for him.
>>45882046>Better pull Hiro back.
>>45881568>Better pull Hiro back.
>>45882046>Better pull Hiro back.As much fun as literally blocking Hiro is, this is probably the most reasonable option.
>Better pull Hiro back. You're not going to let that happen. Not on your watch. Besides, the falling on top of a girl cliché happened last time time. Can't do the same thing twice, now, can you? “Sorry, Hiro,” you sigh as you grab his collar and reel him back to you. “Eh?” He immediately wakes up, scrambling to balance himself. But Shina keeps going, veering off into the street. You are now the designated babysitter. Grabbing Shina's collar as well, you pull her back into the sidewalk. She breaks out of her stupor long enough to give you a glare. “Just what are you doing to a cute girl's uniform?” You immediately let go and frown. “Oh, I'm sorry for stopping you from walking into incoming traffic. Maybe next time, I should go and endanger someone's life by not doing anything.” You shake your head at her. “Pay attention to where you're walking. You almost slammed face-first into Hiro as well.” Hiro sheepishly grins, waving. “Hiya, Shina.” As the class rep, Shina's conflicted between telling you off and knowing that you're right. Finally, she makes up her mind and grumbles, “Fine. Sorry, Satoshi.” With added vigor, she adds, “I'd prefer you not to touch my uniform though.” You close your eyes and rub your nose wearily. “Shina, I'd prefer to be hands-off with you anyway.” “Can we settle down?” Hiro asks politely. And both you and Shina reply with a firm, “No.”
As you make it to the entrance, you exchange your sneakers with your school shoes. The place is more crowded than usual. A few guys exchange hushed conversation, gathering around someone's shoe locker. Hiro asks, “What's happening?” Taro whispers, “My boy Ao got non-obligation chocolate! It's a good day for him, man.” Wait. What. “Uh. What day is today?” “Valentine's Day, man. Did you forget?” What. This is only the second episode. Did the show run out of material that fast? >Play it cool and stick with Hiro. After all, the girls have to approach Hiro, right?>Go after the girls first. Divide and conquer, or something like that.
>>45882557>Play it cool and stick with Hiro. After all, the girls have to approach Hiro, right?I knew it! We denied all the flags from popping up so they all popped up! We need to let the show run its course. We are being to forward in our actions to deny the female cast.
>>45882557>Play it cool>Give him an anonymous valentine, talk loudly all day about it afterwards so the other girls think someone else has already beaten them to the punch. Stick to Hiro so he doesn't run into a clever girl claiming it was from her.
>Play it cool and stick with Hiro. After all, the girls have to approach Hiro, right? We just don't have to panic. We're smart, right. We got this under control.
>>45882557>Divide and muhfugging conquer. >>45882635Or this, possibly downplaying the girl's chocolate evidencing how lower-quality it is compared to the anonymous one
>>45882557>Play it cool and stick with Hiro. After all, the girls have to approach Hiro, right?
Yeah. You should definitely play it cool. After all, with Valentine's Day, all you have to do is wait for the girls to line up and give their chocolates to Hiro, right? You shouldn't be so hasty. You are a hundred percent sure that the girls will jump on Hiro as soon as you take your eyes off him. You push through the rest of the crowd and head to class with Hiro. “Hiro, did you remember that today was Valentine's Day? I completely forgot.” “Oh. I forgot too. I seem to forget like... every year.” Hiro chuckles. “I'm really bad with dates, haha.” “Well, you and me both apparently.” You breath in some air. “Think you'll be getting a lot of chocolates this year, Hiro?” He blinks. “Not particularly.” Oh, this poor sap. He's completely unaware of the trouble heading his way. You usher him straight to his seat. And as you're heading straight to yours, you can see a neatly wrapped box on top of your desk. It's chocolate. It's definitely chocolate. But why the hell is it on your desk, of all people? You eye the tag slapped on the ribbon. It reads: “To Hiro.” The person must have gotten the seats mixed up. The person must have been nervous or an idiot. Or... both. But the entire class is whispering about you. Even Patricia, who's giving you the most astonished face you've ever seen. You sigh and rub your nose. You aren't really used to this kind of attention. You could definitely send this over to Hiro's way. You're still weighing your options. If you give it to him, you're going to assume the rest of the girls will scramble in some sort of attempt to be the second person to give him chocolates. On the other hand, he won't get this particular chocolate if you keep it. >Better hide the evidence. Eat it before class starts.>You could rope Patty into this. She could be an accomplice, maybe. >Nah. It's better to let him have it. See how everyone else reacts.

>>45883201>You could rope Patty into this. She could be an accomplice, maybe.
>>45883295Changing to>You could rope Patty into this. She could be an accomplice, maybe.
>>45883443Err, just to clarify. When I say "unless a tiebreaker occurs," there is no actual tiebreaker yet (albeit could happen with one vote). Now we need an actual tiebreaker, since we have three votes for letting him have it and three for roping Patty into this.
Just kidding.>>45883517With this vote, Patty wins.>You could rope Patty into this. She could be an accomplice, maybe.Calling now.
>Better hide the evidence. Eat it before class starts.Might as well deny him one set of chocolate
>You could rope Patty into this. She could be an accomplice, maybe. You wait until the commotion dies down. Then, clearing your throat, you stand up and walk straight to Patricia's desk. In a loud voice, you almost shout, “Hey, Patty! Thanks for the chocolate. Let's look forward to a good year, yeah?” The whispers become an uproar as soon as the words leave your mouth. You can see the color drain out of Patricia's face immediately. Then, as her face regains color, she throws you a sharp glare and seethes, “We need to talk outside. Now.” You maintain a benign smile as she pulls you outside the classroom. “What's the matter, Patty?” “Don't call me that. You know what's wrong!” Patricia huffs. “I didn't give you those chocolates. So stop your delusions and tell everyone that was made up.” “You know, I think this can work to your benefit!” You maintain your grin. All you have to do is get Patricia to help you out and it'll be so much easier to defend Hiro from the girls. “I didn't tell anyone whether it was obligation chocolate or not, right? So, you could like, give obligation chocolate to Hiro too. You know, the same way you gave me those chocolates.” “Um.” She shifts her gaze away. “Don't tell me,” you groan. “You don't have any chocolates, do you?” “No.” “Oh for f– okay, here.” You drop the chocolate in her hands. “Just use this, okay? Wait until break, though. I don't think the class can take another Valentine's Day bomb. And make sure you tell him it's obligation chocolate, okay?” “Well,” she narrows her eyes. “You're being awfully helpful.” “I do what I can do help out my friend,” you shrug. “I'm not your friend,” Patricia replies.“Listen,” you say, heading back into class. “I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about Hiro.”
And during break, your half-botched plan came into fruition. You could distinctly hear that it was “OBLIGATION CHOCOLATE” and “IT'S NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU OR–”. With that, now all you have to do is intercept the chocolates and Hiro will just assume every chocolate was out of obligation. Too bad that's the hard part. At least you got Patricia out of the way. And just on time, Shina, Yuko, and Nina all come filing in for Hiro. But who should you deal with first?>Shina>Yuko>Nina
>>45883870>NinaHandle the dangerous one first.
>>45883870Eliminate the candidate.
>>45883870>NinaWhat's the difference between non-obligation and obligation chocolate?

>>45883912edgelord pls go
>NinaI want to see if there's any stock in the "She knows she's in an anime" theory.
>Nina.Yeah, you should deal with the most dangerous one first. Shina has her own embarrassment to cover and Yuko is... well, she's Yuko. But Nina's the girl that openly told the class that she was a potential wife candidate. So, blocking Nina's way, you greet her with a hello. “Hey, Nina!” You force a smile. “How's it going? You know you really surprised me when you introduced yourself. How'd you get to meet Hiro, anyway?” “Can I see Hiro, please?” She asks, sounding not in the least bit interested in your questions. “I'd like to give him something.” Yuko and Shina already pass you, but you can deal with them later. You sheepishly grin at Nina. “Yeah, but you know, as Hiro's best friend, I was just really curious why you said you were his, uh... 'potential wife candidate,' was it?” “He was nice to me,” Nina says flatly. “Can I see him now?” What, that's it? There has to be something more than that. “No but seriously! I heard you two met during the festival. Did he save your life or something?” “No.” She tries worming her way out in an attempt to squeeze past you. You try to block her again, but she's a little too quick for you. Well, shit. “Oh,” exclaims Shina. “Yuko. Didn't your chocolates give the entire track team indigestion last year?” A moment of silence passes. Immediately Hiro, who was cornered by Yuko and Shina, raises his hand. “Uh, excuse me. I need to do something very important over, uh, there.” He breaks into a sprint, crashing past the desks and out the door. Nobody moves for a second. Then, Yuko, laughing noisily, chases after Hiro. “Hah, you can't outrun the track team captain, Hiro!” In response, Nina also follows, probably going after Hiro. That just leaves you and Shina behind. The class rep has a stupefied look on her face again. >Play dumb. Joke about Valentine's Day.>Play the jerk with a heart of gold. Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiro.>Ignore Shina and go after Hiro.
>>45884448>Ignore Shina and go after Hiro.Do NOT let Chocomania run wild on our storyline.
>>45884448>Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiromoar allies
>>45884448Go after them, it's perfectly fine if she's left behind.
>>45884448>Play the jerk with a heart of gold. Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiro.
>>45884448>Play the jerk with a heart of gold. Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiro.Well, this will take like a second to do whereas we go on a wild goose hunt for Hiro who is running for dear life.
>>45884448>Ignore Shina and go after Hiro.If it were just Yuko, it'd be fine, but Nina's a damn guided missile. Not to mention our relationship with Shina is beyond repair by this point.
>>45884448>Play the jerk with a heart of gold. Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiro.free chocolate man
>>45884701What makes you say that our relationship with Shina is unrepairable? I think this is a good chance.
>>45884735If you're implying we take it but not give it to Hiro, that'd be a bad idea in my opinion. How would you like it if someone gave your best friend something to give to you, but he kept it for himself?
>>45884797With all the chocolate Hiro will be getting I am sure he will throw "us" a couple of pieces. This way Shina still gets her chocolate to Hiro, but she doesn't get to spend time with him.
>>45884782Well, we've blocked her thrice already, and she's already expressed bona fide dislike for our MC. Even if it turns out that she's the main girl (probably not, class reps always get the short end of the stick) she'll probably take a while anyway, so it's better to focus on befriending/diverting more immediate threats. There's an argument to be made in letting her approach Hiro slowly before cutting her off (so as to draw attention from the rest of the possible harem,) but that brings us uncomfortably close to our loss condition.
>Play the jerk with a heart of gold. Offer to pass her chocolate over to Hiro.“The idiots, all of them,” you sigh. Eyeing Shina from the corner of your eye, you speak up. “So, were you going to give Hiro some chocolates too?” “No, ahaha, of course not! Why would you think that!?” Shina yelps, hiding a neatly wrapped box behind her back. “Oh, no reason. So,” you laugh, “Those chocolates are for me, then?” Sullenly, she mutters, “Oh, get lost.” “No thanks, but I could pass them over to Hiro if you want.” You point over to the outside. “I doubt you're going to ever catch him before school ends, anyway.” She squints suspiciously over at you. “You're not going to... eat it, are you?” You groan. “I'm actually really offended that you would even think I would do something like that.” Even if you would, in other circumstances. “I'm still Hiro's best friend. It's not like I'm actively trying to make your life miserable.” Okay, well, that's a lie. But you're not telling her that. “You can trust me on that.” “Well, fine.” Shina turns her head, but hands over her chocolate. “Just don't expect any favors from me, though.” “Yeah, yeah,” you nod, waving her off. “Wish me luck.” “For what?” She frowns. You wag the chocolate in your hand. “I have a Hiro to find.”
You find Yuko pacing around the courtyard, dangling the chocolate in the air. “Hiro! You can hide, but you can't run!” Agh, she gives you a fucking migraine. “Don't you mean... 'You can run, but you can't hide'?”And Yuko stares back at you unconcernedly. “No. Nobody can run from me.” You groan. “Forget I asked. Looking for Hiro?” “Yep. Want to help?” She giggles, grinning. “Yeah, sure! I'm always down to poison my best friend!” Exhaling air, you shake your head. “...Not a chance. Why are you even so eager to give him chocolate anyway?”She hugs herself, rocking back and forth. “Then he'll notice the cutest upperclassman he's ever laid eyes on.” You raise an eyebrow. “I don't think he'll be noticing anything if he eats that.” >Compromise. Tell her you'll join the track club if she gives up.>Try and snatch it. You'll really test your running skills.>Maybe she'll give it up if you convince her that you'll send it over to Hiro.

I'm not going to force feed it to him like you would. He gets to choose whether or not he eats it. I mean, he'll definitely accept it. But anyway.” You bring out Shina's chocolate. “I have to deliver this to him regardless. Since you chased him out the class, I've become somewhat of an errand boy. So let's make both our lives easier.” “Hmm...” She looks up to the sky,, stroking her chin. Then, with a nod and smile, she chucks the chocolate to you. “Alright. Sounds good. But when you do things like this, you know that you're never going to get a chocolate for V-day, right?” You shrug. “I don't really care. And also, can you please, never call it that ever again?” Yuko chuckles heartily. “But then I wouldn't get to see you squirm!” “Go away,” you say, rolling your eyes. Now, with the package found, all you need to do is stop Nina and find Hiro. The bell rings, which is perfect. You can probably find Hiro as he gets his bag. But as you pass through the hallways, people start whispering things about you. And, suddenly, you're the guy holding a lot more chocolates than anybody thought you would get. Haha, shit. You stuff them quickly into your bag and walk into class. But Nina's already talking to Hiro. You quickly step in, saying, “Hey, whatcha guys talking about?”

Nina's level gaze meets yours. “I was just giving Hiro some chocolates.” After a pause, she adds, “Obligation chocolates.”Huh.“Oh, that so?” You nervously laugh. “That's interesting. Hiro, on that note, Yuko and Shina has some chocolate for you too.” You hand him the chocolates subtly from your bag. “White day's gonna be a hassle, huh?” “Yeah. But I'd feel bad not repaying the kindness everyone gave me.” Hiro gives a determined smile. “Thank you, Nina.” “It's my pleasure.” She says, looking over at Hiro for a while before grabbing her bag. Nina looks above ready to leave.“Oh, yeah. I'm going to go to Yori's to give her the handouts. Want to come along?” >Let Hiro go alone. You still have some questions for Nina.>Tag along with Hiro. >Tag along with Hiro. It was kinda your fault she's sick.“Yeah,” you nod, swinging your bag over your shoulder. “Poor girl's probably going nuts over missing class.” “She is the smartest out of all of us.” Hiro packs up his belongings and puts the chocolate inside his bag. “Yori just worries too much. She thinks she's going to fail, so she studies until she gets the highest marks.” It's pretty funny, now that you think about it. “How is she going to survive on her own, I wonder?” “Yori's a big girl. She can take care of herself.” You think about her umbrella for a second. “Yeah. I guess.” As soon as you get to Yori's house, you're greeted by her mother and father. The two of you tell them hello, and show them the handouts. They send you immediately upstairs to Yori's room. Childhood friend privilege. Now all that's stopping you and Hiro is her door, shut tightly closed. You raise your hand to knock on the door but decide otherwise and motion for Hiro to enter. “After you.” Now, behind that door, you are almost a hundred percent sure Yori is doing something like undressing. But hey, you have to give a little fan-service to the viewers, right? A meek yipe is heard from the room, and Hiro does a quick 180 and shuts the door behind him....Sorry Yori. “...Was she changing?” You ask Hiro. “I don't know. I didn't look, I promise!” He says, shaking his head.“Tell that to Yori, alright?”
Sorry, something came up and it delayed my writing for a bit. I'm currently finishing the second half now, so please wait warmly.
After a while, Yori, blushing her face off, lets the two of you in. “Um, sorry for the wait,” she says, huddled in her blankets. “No, we're sorry for disturbing you.” You crack a grin. “Though, I really mean Hiro is sorry for disturbing you.” “It was an accident!” He cries in exasperation. “I didn't see anything.” Yori, in response, curls deeper into her blankets. Resigned, Hiro takes out the handouts from today and places them gently on her table. Next to where he put the handouts are two neatly wrapped packages of cookies. You raise an eyebrow. “Don't tell me, Yori...”“Oh, um...” She sits up to try and hand the cookies over, but she's too far into the blankets to reach them. “T-Take them,” Yori mumbles, motioning for the two of you to grab one. “Those are for you.” In a soft voice, Hiro says, “Thanks, Yori.” “Yori, but come on. You're a smart girl.” You shake your head at her. “You shouldn't be doing anything like this when you're sick.” “Oh, I was okay when I made them at night.” “Yori, that makes it even worse.” You pat her head. “Thanks though.” “Ehehe.” She smiles over at Hiro and you. Really, she is just a puppy. “Anyway,” sighs Hiro. “I have homework to catch up on. I forgot to do my English workbook assignment and it's due tomorrow.”“Good luck with that,” you snort at Hiro. “I'm going to head out too.” “Rest well!” Hiro bids Yori farewell. Then, turning over to you, he says, “What, no help?” “Nope.” It's still pretty early to head home. You have some time to kill and Hiro won't be around to get targetted by any girls. What should you do?>Take a walk around the town. Maybe you need a break and some fresh air.>You're so bored you're going to the track club.>Go chill at the school rooftop or something. It's got a good view.

>Take a walk around the town. Maybe you need a break and some fresh air.Well, you might as well take a brisk walk around the town. You really do need to unwind after a long day of chocolate sabotage. You pass the bridge that leads to all the open stands and bakeries that line up the shopping district. You inhale the smell of freshly baked bread and street food. Man, really makes you want to buy a loaf of broad and some yakitori right now. But you don't think you have enough money to buy all the food you desire. So for now, you'll browse. In one of the alleyways behind a bakery, you can faintly see one of the bakery employees huddling around a trashcan. It looks a little odd, so you decide to not mind your business and approach the person.“Just what the heck are you doing?” You ask the employee. She turns around startled, smacking you with an entire loaf of bread. “I'm not doing anything!” That voice. It's definitely Shina's angry voice. “...Shina?” You call, rubbing some crust off of your cheek. “What in the world?” “Oh dear God,” she croaks. “Satoshi, what are you doing here?” “I like to eat,” you reply deadpan. “I think that's the first time I've ever been slapped with white bread. But anyway, what are you doing with that trashcan?” “Nothing!” She cries, guarding the wastebin. Just then, a tiny meow echoes inside.
Oh, that's why. “It's not good to feed strays, you know.” She covers her face angrily, adjusting her apron. “I'm a little partial to cute animals, alright?” “I'm not telling you to do anything, just wanted to let you know.” Hmm. “Since I'm here, can I buy some chocolate?” Shina gives you a frustrated look. “I have a sweet tooth.” “Aren't you sick of chocolate already? I saw how many you had during break.” She shakes her head in disgust. You burst out laughing. “You think that was for me? Not a chance. That was for Hiro. I played delivery boy for him because he was busy being chased by Yuko.” Shina lowers her eyes. “Is he really that popular?” “I thought you knew since junior high?” You pick out some milk chocolate from the counter. “I'm actually surprised you never noticed.” She grabs the edges of her apron. “Do you.... do you think I have a chance?” Hard question.>Lie to her. >Be really vague. >Be honest.
>>45887930>"About as much as anyone else, I'd say. Just do your best."What are the actual answers we would even actually give for those options? It isn't really particularly clear. You know, the funny thing about harem shows is that they fall apart if the girls give up or lose interest too. Making it completely impossible for Hiro to ever get a girlfriend will kill the world just as surely as landing him with one.
>Couldn't tell you, I don't think he knows what girls are.
>>45887930>Be really vague"I mean, I could say you don't, but that'd ruin the anime and I can't do that."
>>45887930>Be honest.I mean, no girl is really that far along with him. They're all still close I wager.
>>45887930pic related.>"I couldn't tell you.">"Also, you shouldn't feed cats bread so much. Not that good for them."
>>45887930>I couldn't tell you. I like this write in. It lets us remain as a relatively unimportant character and lets her think for herself without hurting her feelings.
>>45888059>"Girls? Aren't those just boys with their peepees on the inside?"
“I couldn't tell you.” You look directly into her eyes. “Reason with me here. If you don't know, how the hell am I supposed to know? I don't think Hiro even realizes that there are girls out there that like him. And not on a friend kind of level. You could probably drill it into his brain and he still wouldn't get it. So do you have a chance? I don't know. It's probably like drawing the winning numbers to the lottery. So there you go.” “Well,” Shina murmurs, “So there is a chance then.” “About as much a chance as anybody, really. I don't know how big that chance is.” You drop the chocolate and the coins it is worth next to the register. “Now hurry and give me my sweets.” “Just take it,” she says, brushing her hair uncomfortably. “And, um, Satoshi?” “What?” “Thanks,” she exhales. “I don't know what you're thanking me for,” you shrug, already unwrapping the chocolate. Taking a bite, you wave goodbye. “I just wanted some damn chocolates. And by the way, if you feed a stray too much, it'll start depending on you.” You could have let Shina give up on Hiro, but you'd be the biggest asshole on the planet, huh? Even if the viewers didn't see that, you still got a conscience... or at least, a little. But you're walking out of a store with chocolate, so that couldn't have been all bad, right? You decide to head home, finishing the chocolate along the way. Some progress has been made, but you've also made a lot of mistakes today. Man, you're not that good with this sentimental business. But hey, tomorrow is another day. And after the Valentine's Day special episode, what could be worse?Oh. This rhetorical question is going to bite you in the ass, isn't it?..You'll shut up now. EPISODE TWO – END.
>>45888689Thanks for running Nano.
Coincidentally, I'm coming up with like a cold or fever so I decided to end on this update. Thanks, Yori, it's contagious. Thread lasted for about 7 hours, hurray. As always, follow me on @nanolitre if you want to know when the next thread will be up. Tentatively, it will be around same time tomorrow at 12 P.M. EST. However, my home will be experiencing blackouts from 9 AM - 5 PM EST so if I don't show up, it will be because the electricity monsters got me.
Let's turn this harem show into a murder mystery.
