>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

You wake fairly early in the morning, the sun still rising over the horizon. A quick, cool shower to help wake yourself up, and you're ready to head off... only to be greeted by that man in purple. "Someone's up early. Got somewhere to be?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hpXOykDj3w

"The same could be asked of you, Viol." you respond as you approach the table he's sitting at. "Looking to make some more money, or are there other intentions for you appearing to me today."

"A word of advice if you feel like heading to the Great Fairy today." he mentions, taking a sip from what you assume is coffee. Strong coffee, by the smell of it. "The people overseeing her Fountain are a bit... different. They're good folks, have been helping with charity, dealing with cutting down poverty and helping some of the war orphans around Castle Town when they can. But..." He stops for a moment and looks you over. "...try to keep an open mind when you see them."

>A. If they are as kind as you claim them to be, then I should have no problem with them. Thank you for the advice, though

That's... an interesting way to phrase it. "It isn't very helpful to be cryptic about this. What do you mean when you say I should keep an 'open mind?'"

He nods for you to come closer. Looking around to see if anyone is paying attention to your conversation, he then whispers into your ear, "They're heretics."

"...huh."

"They call themselves the 'Order of Hylia.' Believing that the goddess Hylia is the being most worthy of praise, and not Din, Nayru, and Farore, and that us mortals should take after 'her example' by helping and relying on each other first and foremost." he tells you quietly. "They do have a bit of an... interest... with the Princess Zeldas of the past, seeing them as the goddess incarnate."

You sit down, trying to make sense of this. "Do... what do they feel about the goddesses, then?"

"They do not hate the goddesses, but they see them more as... 'clockmakers,' beings who gave rise to the world, and will fix it when broken, but otherwise not interfere with mortal affairs. The Order sees Hylia's direct intervention in mortal affairs as proof that she is the one people should be worshiping, and whose example they should be following. She became 'one of us,' as they say." Viol explains, still keeping his voice hushed. "A lot of the old nobility seem to have joined their ranks, too."

"Why tell me this?"

Viol leans back a bit. "Because some have reacted... poorly to the Order's existence. They can be a bit defensive when confronted over their... beliefs."

He raises an eyebrow, then smiles. "I don't... well, I like that they're at least doing good. But I can't get behind their beliefs myself."

...there's more to this. "You know someone who did 'react poorly' to their beliefs."

He flinches. "Grh. That obvious, huh?"

In fact, if you were a betting girl... ah, shouldn't pry too deeply. "Is there anyone there who seems especially... zealous? I'd like to avoid a conflict with any individuals there."

"Well, there's the 'Fairy Man,' he... you'll know him when you see him." Viol adds. "Just... don't go around causing trouble, and you should do fine."

"Thank you for your information, I shall be off now." you tell him, getting up.

"Not going to purchase any more wares?" he inquires with a businessman's grin.

You look back and smile at him. "I have stocked up sufficiently on supplies, thank you again for the deal yesterday."

He snaps his fingers. "Damn. Well, best of luck to you, Termina!"

You head out of Castle Town and towards the ruins of the Hyrule Castle itself, spotting a group of people walking towards it, guided by a woman. Seem like tourists. Eventually you come across an entrance to a temple some distance from the castle, with the sound of... singing coming from it? Music and song. Huh.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMsNRnJgibA

Opening the temple's doors, you are greeted by two women dressed in white and blue cowls. "Hello ma'am, we will be able to help you shortly, but we ask that you stay here for a moment as the service is about to end." one of them says to you.

"Service?" you repeat, walking in closer as the other woman closes the door behind you.

"Sister Grunhilde is about to finish. It would be best to avoid getting in people's way as they leave." she explains, taking you up to an empty balcony area overlooking the people in the temple.

(cont.)
>>
>>45844953
You spot another, slightly older woman with blonde hair dressed similarly to the first two, though with added gold to her outfit and the hood of her cowl down, at a podium in the back of the area. "Let Her Grace guide us today as in all days, to help each other and cherish the lives of those in need. Amen."

"Amen!" the gathered crowd repeats, then starts filing out. You stay there until they leave, noticing several figures in the stained glass windows around the area. They're... well, the previous Princesses and Queens, as best you can recognize them. Your... ancestors. Behind the woman at the front there's a stylized figure of a woman with wings and long, flowing hair. Their representation of Hylia, you guess.

The woman who led you up there looks at you curiously. "Ah, this is the first time you've been here, it seems. Miss...?"

"Termina." you state.

"Miss Termina, I am sure Sister Grunhilde will be more than happy to answer your questions." she says with a sweet smile, taking you back down. You spot people of all kinds leaving, talking with each other as they do. You're finally brought to the woman leading the service, who herself just finished talking with a man dressed in a... green jumpsuit, with red underpants on the outside.

" Kooloo-Limpah! Oh thank you Sister! I shall, I shall!" He does a little spin before he skips away, finally drawing the woman's attention to you. You're given an introduction to the woman.

"Well Miss Termina, how may we help you today?" she asks with a calming smile across her face.

You give a respectful bow to the woman. "If it would not be too much trouble, I would like an audience with the Great Fairy. Is she available?"

The woman lets out a hesitant sigh. "Of all the days... well, she should be later. We have run into an... incident. People should be arriving later to deal with it."

Ah, just your luck. "What kind of incident?"

"The basement level where her fountain resides, where she's allowed us so graciously to store things we need for Her Grace's Temple, has attracted some... unwanted guests." sht starts, stepping down from her podium. "An armored phantom stalks the entrance to her fountain, along with other beings like him. Skulltulas also have been spotted making webs in the storage area. We have sent request for someone to deal with this, but none will arrive until much later today..."

You rub your chin. Curious. "If you do not mind me asking, do you have any idea what the cause of this might be? Might there be something you've stored down there to attract it? Or might some outside influence be responsible?"

She looks at you with a restrained amount of suspicion. "Nothing we have put down there should be causing an incident like that. We do not mind that you ask, but why do you? You say this almost like you intend to..."

"I do." you state with affirmation. "If it is all right with you, I would like to help clear out this phantom and you. I have already helped one Great Fairy this week, and I am seeking the one who resides below your temple-"

Murmurs from the two ladies who greeted you at the door can be heard, Grunhilde staring at you with surprise now. "...was this the Great Fairy who resides near Kakoriko?" she questions. You nod again. "Just like Maku's boy... then, Miss Termina, you have my permission. Sister Jacqueline, Sister Anne, please, show our guest to the one of the basement level's entrances."

"At once, Sister Grunhilde." the two respond, walking you to a door to the side. Along the way, the woman who first took you up to the balcony area looks back at you. "Miss Termina, did... she say anything about a boy in red when you spoke with the Great Fairy?"

"She did mention someone who completed her trials before me. A boy in red." you confirm. She looks back in surprise and... relief? A strange look of it, at least. "Who is this boy in red?"

"H-his name is Horon. My... cousin." she tells you hesitantly. "Uncle has been a bit worried about him. He started on his journey to... well, as he calls it, 'be the Hero who saves Hyrule and rescues our lovely Princess.' We haven't heard much of him since he left."

...you're not sure you like the way she phrases that. Especially as it seems to be a direct quote. "I... see. Well, I did recall a few Gorons last night mentioning a boy in red scaling Death Mountain on his own, and succeeding."

"D-DEATH MOUNTAIN?!" she exclaims, eyes like saucers. "Horon what are you... I... sorry, I shouldn't bother you with this, Miss Termina."

"It is all right." you tell her kindly, finally reaching a door leading to a staircase.

"The basement is right down there. Best of luck to you, Miss Termina." the women tell you, leaving as you head down. Your first sight is a surprising one, a small hallway with a Skulltula on the wall near a door. Skittering around as it spots you.

If there's one thing that nature shows about such mimicry, it's that the creature is either so harmless that they need such gruesome imagery to stay alive in such a harsh world, or that you should kill it absolutely and completely right as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

You focus as best you can as you draw your sword to pour Magic into it. Watching carefully as the Skulltula skitters around on the wall, you wait for the right moment to strike... and take it! "Hrraaah!" You stab the sword forward, still some distance away from the oversized arachnid, and land a powerful, direct hit on it as a bolt of light shoots out from the sword. The creature crumbles away and vanishes in a puff of black mist, leaving behind... hey, Green Rupee!

Quickly pocketing the Rupee, you open the door to the storage room. Boxes are piled in various corners of it, and above you, you can hear the sounds of another Skulltula, lurking on the ceiling. You spot a glimpse of a shadowy figure dash behind one of the boxes. Carefully working your way around, avoiding any immediate danger, you spot another door to the west.

You skillfully roll away from the Skulltula, dodging before it can strike at you and forcing itself to try to scurry back to the ceiling by its thread. You then confront the shadowy figure... ah, of course. A Poe.

Startled, it tries to lunge at you, swinging its lantern. Stabbing forward with the Sword Beam strikes hard, pinning it back against the wall and giving you an opportunity to jump-slash at it and finish the creature off. It slowly vanishes and leaves behind a faint, purple, flame-like thing. Its soul. You make sure to bottle it and then turn back to the Skulltula still climbing its thread. Testing something out, you shoot it at the abdomen with the Sword Beam again, causing the creature to accidentally cut its own thread and fall to the ground on its back. You jump up and stab down on it hard, finishing the creature off. For your trouble, you get... score! Literally! A Red Rupee!

All right, that brings you back up to 41 Rupees. You're making it through this fairly well.

You'll have to think about that later. You next head through the door to the other room. It's... completely empty. And deathly quiet. There's a door on the other side, and one further one... locked up, with fairly ornate structures at the sides of it. Hrm.

You try to focus on the Magic you were gifted, signaling for a Fairy to come to you. It takes a minute, but one seems to fly towards you slowly. "H-how... wait, you're... 'her' aren't you?" it asks.

"Perhaps I am." you answer, looking around. "More to the point, there is a situation here?"

The fairy flies towards you, bobbing up and down. "That... that phantom arrived just a few days ago! We have no idea what it wants, it just keeps appearing and disappearing, shouting incoherently when it does!" she exclaims with panic in her voice.

You let her rest in your hands, and respond in a comforting voice, "I shall quell this spirit. I promise."

You then notice the Fairy sort of... vanish into your Poncho. You're surprised at first, but she clarifies that it's proof you have the spell from the Great Fairy. Sadly she still doesn't know where the Phantom is, as it seems to be able to move through walls. It could be anywhere...

You head on in to the next room, spotting something... different. There's a Skulltula there, in the middle of the room, but there's something wrong with it. Something seems to digging into its flesh. The creature spins around and...

You immediately respond to the creature by pulling out a bomb and strafing around it. The Masked Skulltula grabs a box with its strangely humanoid arm and flings it at you, making... noises that are just unpleasant to describe. Like gurgling and hissing out a roar, egh, it's almost enough to make your stomach churn. You manage to dodge aside, throwing the bomb at the creature, the noise it makes becoming one you can at least recognize as a cry of pain. It strikes the abdomen and knocks it off its thread, but not on the mask. The monster scurries towards you with frightening speed.

Quickly moving aside as it does, you watch it start to crawl back up the wall. Okay, bomb damaged it, but you've got four left. Going to have to be careful with this...

You raise your shield as it tries to throw another box at you, breaking harmlessly as your shield takes it. You lower your shield and stab forward, shooting the Sword Beam out of your blade... right as another box is flung at you. It smacks you in the face, knocking you down, but the Sword Beam still connects, critically injuring the Masked Skulltula.

The creature falls to the ground, writhing in pain. It tries to get up again, but stumbles over its own legs. The monster seems to lock its eyes with you. It's going down fighting.

You've got a chance to finish this. You stand your ground, shield up. The Masked Skulltula charges at you, shrieking, as best it can with its injuries. It slams into your shield, arms flailing, one scratching your cheek and arm. With all your strength, you push up with your shield...

"HRRRAAAAAAAHHH!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeJOTgIVHDk

...with the creature pushed up, its weak underbelly exposed, you stab hard into it, the monster flailing against your shield uselessly. Slowly it starts to stop moving, its body crumbling and slowly turning to ash. The mask embedded in its body falls to the ground, you taking a moment to catch your breath before picking it up.

You got the [Mask of Truth]!

Well... looks like you've cleared this area. You can go back east to the room you found the fairy in, or you can go south to another door.

You look around again, moving some of the boxes around and scouring through the remains of the ones the monster threw at you. Restoring your health and scoring another Red Rupee, you also manage to check out the other door, finding it mercifully empty. However... you do manage to hear a sound. Faint. Haunting. Like a soft moan in the distance. You follow along the path to the noise, nearly tripping on a piece of the broken wood on the ground as you do.

It's back to the central room.

The fairy moves out of your poncho. "That... it's the phantom. I know it is!"

You gulp, slowly opening the door. Floating in the center of the room... you see it. A tall, humanoid figure in armor. Spectral, almost as if it's transparent, except somehow... not. It turns its head and looks at you. Your hand instinctively reaches for your blade...

But to the surprise of you and the fairy, it... speaks. "Why... have you... come here...?" it asks in a gloomy voice.

"I-it can talk?!" the fairy exclaims.

You keep your hand near your sword. This is... new. "WHY... ARE... YOU... HERE..." it repeats, raising its voice.

You slowly walk forward. "I seek the Great Fairy, and her guidance in how to help Hyrule from something that threatens the already shaky peace that exists on our lands." He turns his whole body to face you, properly now. He seems to not be taking an aggressive stance. You look at the phantom knight in its softly glowing eyes. "Tell me, why are YOU here?"

It raises its arm in the vague direction of what you assume to be Hyrule Castle. "Must... protect... must... prevent... urgh... RAGH..." It tries to clench its head, you can tell something is causing its anguish. "No... failed... Ganon will... RGGHH..."

"Ganon?" you repeat, stepping forward.

"STAY AWAY!" it roars, swinging its blade. It's still a good distance away from you, but that was enough to make you stop. "P-Princess... failed... y-y... y... c-can't..."

The fairy looks at you. "...d-do you know how you can calm it?"

The phantom stops, listening, calming. He just waits, listening to you as you play that song. His clouded mind seems to brighten. "...Princess. You live...?"

"As best I could, under Impa's care." you tell him in a soft voice. "Tell me... who are you?"

"I... I was... one of your father's guards... I... I failed him... I failed you... I failed Hyrule..." He looks in the direction of the locked door. "Ganon... he came... he... he slaughtered us... why... why am I-"

"A premonition." you start. "Ganon may be returning. I may not know how, why, or if your return is linked to it. But... this can't be a coincidence."

He kneels. "Then I... shall work to help you stop him, Princess..." The phantom then turns to the locked door. "First... HRRAAAAHHH!" A swing from its blade breaks down the lock. The door is open.

You nod to the phantom. "Thank you. Shall we meet the Great Fairy, then?"

"...It has been so long since I last saw her." he responds. "I... would like that. Yes. Thank you, Princess."

As the two of you walk in, you talk with him some more. "What was your name?"

"Zas." he responds. "I... think. My... mind seems to recall less and less, Princess..."

That... that's not good. "What do you still remember, Zas?"

He solemnly floats along with you. "Last moments... my duties... my... I have... reasons for staying... I... cannot pass on... not yet..."

"You were brought back imperfectly, Sir Zas." a voice calls to you both.

As you two approach the Fairy Fountain, the fairy with you leaves to circle around with the others. A tall woman with transparent wings sticking out of her back, flowing green hair, takes form as they keep circling, not as tall as the one you encountered the other day, but still more than a head taller than the Phantom floating next to you.

...you shouldn't make a big deal of this. Just... just get it out of your head. "I... see that there is a looser dress code among the Great Fairies than I anticipated. S-still, thank you for your audience, Great Fairy." you state with a bow. "M-might I ask what you mean, that he was 'brought back imperfectly?'" It's just a very tall fairy lady, ignore it, Zelda.

"Zas... you poor thing. Your grave has been disturbed." she states as she approaches. "The evil creeping into this land tried to... use you."

The phantom hangs his head. "I... am a pawn in some sick game?"

"You were discarded before you could become one." she answers. "But because of that, your memory is limited. You remember nothing of your life beyond your duty. It tried to make you believe you were fulfilling that. In the end, it could not completely cloud your thoughts. So it left you here. With its other failed experiment."

"The... Masked Skulltula?" you ask. She nods slowly. "Then... what exactly has happened in the last few days?"

"An individual has been sending Grunhilde... 'gifts,' by mail. Masks with great power imbued inside them. Always, the gifts come by mail, 'donations' to her Order. Only recently have they attracted monsters." she explains. "It may have been planned on purpose. We still know nothing of who it is sending these gifts-"

"HRRGGGNNNHH!" Zas clenches his head in pain, his form becoming truly transparent. "G-Great Fairy... may I make a r-request of you? Can... you do something to help me, so I may finally find peace?"

She goes quiet for a bit, then looks at you. "...I may. But only those gifted with Magic could keep you tethered to this world. Princess Zelda... will you accept helping this man soothe his spirit?"

You give her a curious look, finally pushing back the constant reminder of what she's... wearing... to the back of your mind. Just like those other thoughts. "What exactly are you asking that I do to help him, Great Fairy? I am more than willing, but I'd like to know how I can accomplish such a thing."

"I will link his spirit to your Magic. He will be able to keep his form, and even assist you along your journey. But the cost of calling him forth in a stable form is steep. It will take all the Magic you currently have to summon him, and you will need to spend time recovering your Magic if you hope to do so again." she explains, looking back at Zas. "Is this agreeable, Princess Zelda?"

Does she even need to ask? "Of course I shall, then! Do what you need to do, Great Fairy." You smile at the phantom knight. "I shall help you find peace, Zas."

"You truly are too kind, Princess... thank you..." he responds in the most comforting way he can with his ghastly voice.

The Great Fairy raises her hands towards you and Zas. A soft purple flash of light surrounds the two of you, your body lifting up off the ground slightly. As Zas slowly starts to fade from where he was, you can feel a surge of power coursing through your body. Different from before, it's more powerful, but in some ways calmer, focused. Restrained, concentrated strength. Once the process is done, Zas has vanished.

"Your spirits are now linked, Princess. Ready for when you call for his aid."

"And I shall aid him. We will save Hyrule." you declare to her with a smile.

You and Zas, the [Phantom].

Thanks for running, Kato. As always, this has been a lot of fun.

She might've meant our current maximum capacity, hence needing to recover before being able to do it again.

Glad to hear, anons! Thanks for playing.

So, to better explain this: When active, you can't use any other kind of Magic, and have to rely on your weapons. Zas is called forth taking up five dots of Magic, and can act on his own, or be directed by you. His "health" is set at "5," and after taking those five hits he vanishes back to you. You will be able to find upgrades to your Magic, as a reminder.

Posing optional.

Thanks again, anon!

Also, as I'm trying to plan out my week, would you guys prefer two shorter threads Wednesday and Friday coming up, or a full thread Friday?
>>
>>45855665
Every fucking kato thread, you post this shit, and it's beyond retarded.
>>
>>45855784
Busy week for me, so I'd prefer full thread Friday.
>>
>>45855784
Both days.
>>
>>45855784
Whatever is more convenient for you.

>>45855801
The only thing annoying about it is you bitching about it. Who gives a fuck if he posts a picture?
>>
>>45855784
Whatever works best for you is most preferable.

2nd would prefer a full thread on Friday.
>>
>>45855844
Different anon, but that picture is shitty and I also hate it.
>>
>>45855844
Bitching about bitching is always 1.1 times as annoying as the previous bitching
>>
>>45855887
So what I have to just sit here and watch him cry about something that shouldn't bother a rational person? Oh wait this is a Kato quest, everyone's an ass-blasted faggot.
>>
>>45855910
Especially you.
>>
>>45855927
Obviously me as well.
>>
>>45855910
Speaking of things that shouldn't bother rational people, why are you compelled to reply instead of ignoring it?
>>
>>45855950
Because I'm not rational apparently.
>>
>>45855784
Hey Kato, this may be a bit callous, but could we use Zas to distract bosses/powerful enemies while we try and figure out the puzzle/trick to beating them?

All right, I'll keep that in mind.

>>45856016
You could, and in all honesty he wouldn't be opposed to attacking/distracting a foe while you come up with a plan to properly defeat them. Just remember that summoning him takes up a lot of magic.

Also, now that you have Zas, have any preferences on what to do next? There are a good number of options available, could try some minigames, could try to go for finding the Keaton again, could explore some more, or could go for the next major Temple. Not an official vote, just want to get a general vibe on what y'all are hoping to do.
>>
>>45856070
I'm cool with whatever other anons want to do. Minigames are always fun and a sidequest could get us interesting stuff. It just depends.

This quest feels pretty go with the flow to me.
>>
>>45856070
Finding the Keaton again sounds good. Keaton are cool, and part of me thinks we could learn something from tricky fox spirits. Also, the idea of Zelda having to put up with fox shenanigans while learning seems fun.

Also, that picture is adorable. I hope a young Linkle might be in our future.
>>
>>45856070
I really want to get a Keaton companion that acts as our Navi/Midna/Fi in adorable spirit-fox form when walking around and turns into a huge monster-fox to serve as our fast overland travel method.
>>
>>45856128
That sounds fantastic. Let's do that.
>>
>>45856128
Sounds cool, although all of our tips/hints/guiding will be in riddle. Which is kind of awesome

Well, we'll see about that.

Kek, i made a single post on it
The only one crying here is you, from the look of things.
>>
>>45856244
Kato are you actually okay with what >>45855246 is suggesting? Do you have any plans for that kind of thing down the line?
