Also, for you new people, just in case you didn't know, you can call out attacks by diagonals, but you can't move by diagonals.

Also, Rook, while you wait to shoot, don't forget to pump up your gun with packed shot. If you go past double your damage, you run the risk of blowing yourself up.

Floors General Announcement.
-Regarding Multiboxing-
Starting from this turn onwards, countermeasures against "multiboxing" have been taken. And that list has populated to more than 8 confirmed players.

What is Multiboxing?
Multiboxing is a practice in which one unique player creates multiple characters, increasing processing time and creating an unstable power relationship between players and difficulty settings.

Why is this bad ?
As of this floor there was a mismatch of confirmed unique posters and actual characters on the board. While I normally ignore it, the amount of multiboxers on the field or "Pumpkins" makes up 30 percent of current forces.

What do you want me to do about it ?
If you are a normal player, just acknowledge that this is a thing and my stance is I dont approve of it being abused, it already takes me 3-4 hours to process a turn and that is because numbers have gotten as high as it did. If you are in fact supporting multiple characters then congratulations you have made it into the pumpkin list !

What happens to the Pumpkin list.
Six things, randomly picked and no one is told about it. All cruel and unusual, until the spares are killed. Beginning at nightfall.

[spoilers]
1. Death by Pumpkins. Starting by nightfall.
2. Death by Moths. Starting by nightfall.
3. A curse prevents you from levelling.
4. Processi.
5. You are secretly a =Hero=
6. You are spared, for now.

What is my stance on it ?
I typically don't care. But if it means I get to process about a dozen less actions it will always be worth it. I'm not about to bully or punish players for it, just the opposite, if you feel that subverting the intended purpose of this game by legally going against the spirit of the rules will be fun for you then you have invited yourself in a special spiral that is giving me license to judge your position apart from the current player base. Know that this has happened and I will always allow people who come clean.
[/spoilers]
>>
We have a stray Rogue who needs a guide. I'm looking for Adept rogues who are willing to post for him.

Right now that list is pretty short, it includes Beckie and Rabbitspaw. I'll take whomever is willing to go first.

Note: Butcher, if you are around and didn't outright quit you are allowed to continue playing as Torr instead, just respond to this post and I'll allow it as Party Leader.
>>
>>45849904
We could collaborate.
>>
>>45851001
I dunno bossman, just feeling pretty bummed about the constantly dying thing. Tell you what. Gimme an hour or so and I'll decide then. Don't worry though I won't leave you hanging longer then that. If I decide not to play I'll just come out and say it.
>>
>>45851257
Why not play something that's not going to have you running forward all the time? Something where you can hang back and let others take the brunt?

Militia for example, take it with friendly fire and you'd be set.
>>
>>45851281
Nah, if I was gonna play again I'd stick with Rogue through and through. I like the feel of the class ya know? Suited me to a T. Even if I played it badly I had a blast with it.
>>
>>45851407
Alright man, just keep in mind you're probably not gonna get as much help in the future. There's changes coming to how reversal works, and it'll be even harder for navigators to put them out. I wish you luck.
>>
>>45851407

Never give up!
>>
>>45851001
Alright bossman, I've decided. I'm gonna keep on helping Heavy Foot with being a rogue. Maybe big bossman will even let me continue to play on as him after this floor. If not I'll spawn as a new rogue next floor.

First though, Heavy Foot needs some axes.
>>
>>45851723
Very well.
>>
>>45850875
Oh hey big bossman, should I give Torr a label? Like R2 or whatever suits you?
>>
>>45851723

Left Runners:
Characters under your command/ rescued and Loyal may become your next character as an "Inheritor" but retaining their skills and stats.

How are characters Loyal.
At some point your underlings may have emoted a [Heart] or [Musical Note]. if this has happened they have given approval to their mentor. Characters that disapprove of their mentor's actions become unloyal. Further disapproval will lead to [Treachery]

Characters Gaining 1 point of determination may also qualify for legacy status. This will also cancel out a disapproval debuff.
>>
>>45851898
Take [R2] , Become Torr. Death is a part of Runner Life :v
>>
>>45852070
Gotcha big bossman. And thanks. I'll try not to do very stupid things this time.
>>
>>45852043
Oh!

Oh!

Mr Runner_Scholar, Rabbits has question.

Does this Heart thing mean Rabbit has loyal Salamander Steed upon which he can become proper lux knight and ride into battle slowly? Rabbits promises to feed it riceballs and give it backrubs and take it swimming whenever there's water and pet it behind the tiny tiny ears and also clean out all the acid-flame-fire the sallymander spills all over.

Please please please pleaaaseee?
>>
>>45853268
Do we even have ENOUGH Riceballs ?
>>
>>45853268
I have experience with those, just get a giant mechanized armor and ride it into battle. Just avoid rockets.
>>
>>45853315
Rabbits has... !
0
Beckie also has 0. Is no more Riceballs in Wyrd Hunt. Unhappy days. Rabbit wanted to feed-feed sallymander some more.

>>45853324
Rabbits guesses his dreams must remain dreams-ideas. Rabbit did like-enjoy giant mechanized armor thougt. Perhaps in other time, when he is proper lux knight.
>>
>>45853625
No no no you don't need lux knighthood. You need some proper oiling, gigantic plates, and the biggest cannon for an arm you can find. I'm sure we can work something out even with your ninjahood.

You will never be a true knight, but we can make you into a kensai yet!
>>
Requesting a pyras+aerias buff [force]. You want some firepower down there with quaga, that's your best bet.
>>
>>45853816

I too would like an attack buff, or even def buff.
>>
>>45853816
>>45853981

>>
>>45853744

>>
>>45851004
I also can not art
>>
>>45855568
look at Mecha Mercenaries, he can't art and he comissioned stuff for his stuff and just did simple 'radar images'.
>>
Gilda I have a favor to ask, since Torr is currently far away from the action could you please consider channeling someone else besides Jenny that is non-Midian and is closer to the bossfight so that I could contribute to it from long distance?

I am sorry for all midians but it has been determined that if a midian is in the Ewer and gets hit with mortal damage like sun or lux the feedback effect will kill the entire Ewer, so that is something we simply cannot risk.

Also we will need someone to open the lock on the shackles of the rescued giant, anyone outside has a key or other methods for doing so?
>>
>>45857753
I will do so. Who do you suggest?
>>
Attention. We have cloaked assassins nearby and we do not know their targets. Please use any and all detection abilities such as Ordonian [Good Smell] to reveal them.
>>
>>45857774
I think [K1]Kail would be a good choice as he has 8HP to maximizie the HP pool. On the other hand [I1]Watchful and [K]Kerkyklak are potential targets too, [I1]Watchful can deal a lot of damage but only has 4 HP so for him it could be a meaning of survival, [K]Kerkyklak is in a similar situation.
>>
>>45857947
>>45857774
Correction I just noticed that thinly already has Kerky covered so I would suggest [K1]Kail or [I1]Watchful
>>
>>45857968

Not sure if that applies to the current iteration of Floors.

Either of you know how to make pages on 1d4chan? The guide is good and all, but I feel it's less accessible, and that information could be better organized on a wiki page (with links!).
>>
>>45867049
Should I instead start from the newest and work my way back?
>>
>>45867049
In all honesty, I didn't even know that existed.

>>45867104
Newest to Oldest would help with the most relevant information being readily available, but then runs into the issue of split directions as soon as we make progress. Oldest to newest would mean progress is in the same direction as the characters and party, but means a delay of relevant information until it catches up.

Personally, I'd go oldest to newest so then there isn't confusion progressing forward.
>>
>>45867104

Yeah, that'd work.

Monday ran Floors before, so I guess this makes it version 2.0.

The difference would be the character icons, I think; back then, they were more simplistic (like the Kobs in the picture), but these days they look like little colored sprites.

Rabbits begins to grasp at vague-omnious possibilities here.

Also Rabbits has questions.

Watchful is using lux power to power guns! Is clever. Rabbit used it to power throw and explosions, is-was helpful and explody. Like very explodey.

Is there perhaps limit-terminus of what Lux Breath can empower?

If Rabbits used his Pact near a midian, would this be bad-negative news for the Midian?

Rabbits also forgot this lesson from Shinobi-School, can he use more Chi at once? At the moment Rabbits has lots of Chi and single Chi power. Rabbits fears what a 37 chi explosion would do. Or many-much Chi Purple River Status.

Can anyone talk to beastlies? Rabbitspaw is serious now. Sallymanders have acid spit, it destroy-corrodes armor. So maybe if we ask Sallymanders and promise rice balls, we can get corrosive spit to throw on Chimera?

Is there Limit on In Tandemmy Casting? If not, Perhaps Velen-Meave-Coffee-Jackie could make great big ball and try to attack the snake? It is tiny snake and easy to hit. Is not innuendo, is truth without bias.
>>
>>45875248
Another interesting question, can they use their breaths to empower others.
>>
>>45876881
Sure-sure!
Rabbits can do that easy-no-sweat. Is simple.

Take Rabbits hand and swear to Veritas. Then Rabbit can show you how to use Breath.

Has now empowered other.
>>
>>45876941
"I don't wish to be empowered. I do not trust the undying further than I can throw them, including the dragons, no matter how noble they might act, their very nature, their lack of mortality as we understand it, means they can never truly be kin nor kith to us mortals. >>
>>45877766
If there are more of them, I think they'd make a nice bestiary.
>>
>>45877040
Making it a pdf isn't that hard of these monsters, and they're fun to page back in over to have a look at the various things we've fought and died fighting.
>>
>>45876991
Rabbits can do that, yes. He can also make your weapon explode-detonate. Or take it out of your hands and stab you with it. Is many things Rabbit can do.

Mostly violent.

Rabbits had disturbed-odd childhood and restless adolesence and lacks strong role models. Is unfortunate.

But Rabbits cannot, he thinks, bless your weapon and then have you use it afterwards. Is not how Pact-Breath-Magic works. Is not Rabbits magic, is channeled from Great Big Dragon. So Rabbits is medium, see? If Rabbits goes "please help-help" other weapon someone else-different is using, Rabbit channels to weapon which is used by you. So is lots of link in chain that might break easy. Is out of Rabbits hands, so becomes harder-impossible.

But Rabbits can try?

Is this the roll call where new players jump in?

Or is that on the next floor. I can't tell if we're still finishing up floor 5, I've been out of the loop.
>>
>>45883992
We should consider setting up semi-permanent groups that can handle various situations but have certain specialties.

Vanguard would be responsible for exploration, and for finding the objective and stairs. They should never bog down fighting, but be made up of folks like hunters, shinobi, rogues, ghouls and slayers with a tough guide for support. That gives them the ability, once done scouting, to hold a position, or to come back in from behind enemy lines and reconnect with the main force.

The there are companies A and B. These are general purpose companies who are well equipped to handle anything. They need at least one rig capable hunter each. But otherwise make up the bulk of our Knights, mages, guides, and militia. They are made incredibly flexible to change their role at a moment's notice. They're our heaviest hitters, the boss killers and objective takers. Vanguard links with either of them to assist if things get tough.

Next we have support company. The core of it would be people like coffee, or extreme range buffers, or dudes who loot the battle field. The most defensive company to hold locations and loot them dry.
>>
>>45890406
This was a roll call for current floor (floor 5) so monday could tell who to remove from board to cut down on processing and also to punish dualboxing by making us have to worry about assassins as we deal with the boss.

Such is life in the Floors :v
>>
>>45890456
Finally, we have irregulars. Irregulars are people whose class abilities, and history of personal achievement and good decisions has resulted in the decision they would be far better served as independents able to move freely between companies or act entirely independently of them. Beckie is the primary example of an ideal member of the irregulars.

Isaac was absolutely right to bring up the idea of organization, and organizing into a few parties like Cove / Sundial and so on was a very good idea.

I did suggest one way of doing this earlier, but no one really seemed to notice. We are not a military formation and we're not an army, and I think organizing into discrete, concrete specialized units is a tremendous and extreme mistake - especially when you want to have a group called "irregulars" that seem to imply that everyone else needs to accept orders from the hierarchy. That ain't how this Running gig works, fella. It's a democracy or it's nothing.

Upon entering Floor 5, we were spread out into two large groups that were sort of evenly balanced. Had that organization struck, we would have had people able to enter the cove, enter the hunter camp and hold the sundial. That worked way better than specific companies of only shinobi or only ghouls or a mix of the two.

With the nature of exploration being what it is, you do not want and will not need specialized units that consist of one unit with one task. It will not work in the long run and it will encounter unforeseen dangers and it will die.
For evidence, I point out that once we organized the poor Pest Control warmachine was basically done for.

4 general purpose bands that work together and consist of a mix of everyone is a better organizational unit here. Nominate a band leader for a few turns, make sure to check the lines of fire for people you're directly working with, and call out what everyone in your group will be trying to do. Band responsibility to give orders to those who don't move themselves [Bot], and you're set.

If someone wishes to join a different band, or someone else wishes to be in charge of botting and checking friendly fire for a few turns, they can ask and then that'll likely work out just fine. A loose party like affiliation that still gives you some idea of who around you you're working with.

Given the preponderance of assassin moths around the map, perhaps we should think about how to react and what to do with them?

They're likey to be fast, strong and deadly - but they have low defense (no defense) against physical attacks. Hitting them is the actual problem.

Any ideas?

While it might be a moth sent to do a job, Monday had suggested (on IRC) that it might have been a summon recently released from service.
That said, we could attempt communication with the moth. If any combat was initiated, we can conceivably halt it and try anyway -except it would be harder. Depending on what we find out, we can at least be better equipped to choose our next action. Unless of course, we're forced into conflict.

[G6] Thinly you have been doing a great job so far in valiantly keeping Kerkyklak up and in the fight. Now Kerky is taking taking Quaga's lion head and body on I would like ask you to use an act to put a ward under him to give him +1 armor and allow other guides to contribute to the fight.

Another question is that while Kerky and Kail are both close to Quaga but I don't know Kerky is 4 tiles big and might be blocking Kail from getting into melee range. How does this work?
>>
>>45899307
The large crocodile blocks the smaller knight from getting into melee range, preventing Kail from approaching properly. This makes stacking up on the target quite hard, as Kerkalykk blocks the tiny opening he is using to fight the creature.

Very well, so it would be wise if we could find a way to have both in range to contribute to the fight.

I was saving this for the next Corridor, but I feel they should be posted now, because holy fucking /shit/ this floor has been absolutely dreadful.

THE TESTAMENT OF LT. BURKHARD.

>1) Thou shalt not face check the fog of war without high DEF. We have better options.
I'm not going to name names but certain classes seem to have a bad habit of running into the fog of war face first and dying instantly. We have binoculars, eye runes, people who can go invisible and people with very high frontal armour, you do not need to do that.

>2) Thou shalt bloody well make sure we have a balanced composition when we split up.
Of two things that made this map a lot harder then it needed to be, was nearly all of our tankiest classes moving into the basement, and all of our ranged DPS being left on the surface. This should not happen, ensure balanced groups!

>3) Thou shalt not abandon your post even if it 'looks fine'.
Looking at you Zieg! Just because it looks fine doesn't mean it will remain fine! A lot of people ran off into the Cove because nothing seemed to be happening at Sundial and Sundial was almost a complete disaster because of it.

>4) Unless thou art tanky, do not stand in the fire.
Standing next to the front lines as a squishy class is not a recipe for success. I saw a rogue get revived NINE TIMES because he had no chill and kept going balls deep.

>5) Overwatch is your friend, and you shall use it.
Expecting damage? Overwatch Heals, Expecting trouble? Overwatch blocks, Expecting enemies? Overwatch shots. Overwatch is good, use it more. Especially you Militia.

>6) Safety lies in numbers, thou shalt not bugger off on your own.
Running off a million billion miles away from your healers is a surefire way to get jumped by 60 skeletons and get the shit kicked out of you without any healing.

(1/2)
>>
>>45902252

>7) Never make dubious deals, without consorting the small print.
If the book has an eerie blow, it's probably cursed. If an offer is too good to be true, it probably is. If the Dragon is offering a deal... Well just don't make deals with dragons, okay?

>8) Friendly fire will not be tolerated, check thy firing lines.
I'm going to start horsewhipping everyone who gets a teammate killed because of reckless sword swinging or magic casting. Reading other actions first is a good way to avoid "incidents".

>9) A penny saved is a penny earned. Do not squander your things.
The llama bank is your friend, put money into it! The fusion pot is not your friend! Don't put your only weapon or armour into it or you might find you have nothing to fight with.

>10) There is no future in a heroic death, do not die needlessly.
The problem with sacrificing yourself to kill things before you die, is that it tends to mean you don't ever progress to a position of power. Sometimes it's acceptable to run.

>10B) Unless you are /really/ sure it will work.
Killing 6 moblins is not worth your death. Killing a boss, or even stopping it from spawning entirely is possibly worth your death.

>11) Read other orders first, /then/ react. Shooting a corpse thrice doesn't kill it more.
As Sgt. Trigger has pointed out, we had a few incidents where spells, bullets and swords were being wielded against enemies who were already dead. Just make sure someone hasn't attacked it first before you swing.

>12) <------------ WEST + EAST --------------> Learn the difference!
This shouldn't be hard guys! Read your orders before you commit to them and make sure you are actually doing stuff in the right way!

>13) Playing silly buggers with the rules will get you killed.
A lot of this stuff is built on trust between player and GM. The players play fair, the GM plays fair. The Players change stats to their advantage and multibox characters, and the GM inflicts the party with exploding knees syndrome.
>>
>>45902281

>12) <------------ EAST + WEST --------------> Learn the difference!
Not a problem, I shall write it down!

Rabbits finds your lack of willingness to deal with dragons unfortunate-sad. He recommends everyone deals with dragons.

But is good smart rules! Rabbits also has some tips. Is maybe not good tips, but Rabbits has them.

>14) Be Polite
Is not so hard to be nice to friends-enemies-allies-companions. No threatening to kill-hurt-harm your friends. No threatening to destroy other Wyrd Hunters. No shouting "You're preventing me from doing what I want to do, I will kill you!". Be good-friendly ally and Wyrd Hunt will love you!

>15) Be Effecient
Please-please listen to friends when they talk-chat; is like rule 14 or rule 6. Sometimes clever-smart people notice things you don't, sometimes you are clever-smart! So talk-chat and say "Hey, is thing, did you know?". Then maybe you won't kill your friends-allies with lightning, stand in sunlight or get blown up.

>16)Don't have A Plan to kill Everyone you >meet
Is special Rabbit rule, this. Important thing is to survive and live and thrive, so is about defeating the enemy and surviving. Is not about zenny or looting or big monsters or small monsters or skellytons or mobolins, is about making sure team is good and able and work together. Is truth without bias. Is about surviving to the end of the stairs, not about killing-murdering.

So think; maybe you can avoid killing! Yay!

I'm also going to add what I call "The Judging Metric for Player Value"

It's possible to approximately quantify how valuable you are to the team, and thus, HOW EXPENSIVE IT WILL BE TO REPLACE YOU WHEN YOU DIE. Please take this into consideration when picking and choosing who you support, heal, or otherwise dick over.

And on any floor, I'm gonna be calculating how many people died on it, and how many levels we gained in total. Because, while the meme with floorian saying that 27 runners dying, but 5 of them gain lvl.3 is a net gain for humanity, is cute, it's not actually accurate by any stretch of the imagination.

Base Class Abilities = 0.5 Worth
Base Adept Class Abilities = 0.75 Worth
Advanced Class Abilities = 1.0 Worth
Advanced Adept Class Abilities = 1.25 Worth
Town Skills = 1 Worth
Prayer Skills = 0.75 Worth
Memory Skills = 1.25 Worth
Item Skills = 0.25 Worth (They can be super powerful, but the item can be transferred, making them actually easier to get back into the game than class skills most of the time)

This is an approximate metric, and some players are simply better able to get more milage out of their class than other players, look at Beckie (who really should be held up as the sterling example for everyone who aspires to be a solo character in this game), or Jenny and Burkhard and Livia and Khya and Poka (for those who aspire towards team play).

Anyway, here's some example character worths.

Starting Character = Worth 1
Starting Inheritor = Worth 0.5

Hetros Total Worth = 4.25
>4 Base Skills = 2
>2 Adept Base Skills = 1.5
>1 Prayer Skill = 0.75

Compare, however, to KHYA.
Khya's Total Worth = 8.75
>4 Base Skills = 2
>4 Advanced Skills = 4
>2 Advanced Adept Skills = 2.5
>1 Item Skill = 0.25

>cont.
>>
>>45902731

This is a good metric for how hard to replace Khya compared to me (if I've not said this enough times, seriously, shove me under a fucking bus if it means saving a higher value player than myself), and how much more potential she has for contributing to the team than I do.

This doesn't even take into account racials, and honestly, anybody who is the SINGLE advanced class in the party should probably have their value doubled just because they're our only method of teaching other people that class when and if the npc's leave us.
>>
>>45902747
>>45902731

No.

Wrong.

No.
>>
>>45902781
Absolutely fucking right.

In any given encounter, we have to take into account our losses versus our gains.

How many people gained a level from a boss encounter versus how many people were killed and lost all of their progress.

If the sum total is a negative number or even?

-the battle wasn't worth it-
>>
>>45902823

The value of a player is not determined by their stats or skills. As Jenny's fight with her demon demonstrated. Statistically the demon was superior and yet it lost? Why? Because Jenny was smart. She improvised, made use of her environment and didn't lose her cool even though she was outmatched.

Yes it's hard for a lower level player to have the same impact as a high level one. But a good skirmisher will always be a good skirmisher regardless of level.
>>
>>45902731
>>45902747
Nah. That is just all bullcrap. Anyone who attempts to pull their own weight is worth just as much as the next guy. Game spent playing doesn't make you any better then the rest. It just means your character is slightly stronger

I think I have to agree with them there hoss.

It's important that we try and keep higher level players alive yes, but going 'Sorry kid you just aren't /useful/ enough for a heal' seems kind of, dickish.

If we look at the hard values losing higher level players to a boss seems like a loss, but that isn't the only force in play is it? We're killing an infamous bastard of a monster and stealing it's shit, we can turn that into so much loot and reputation that it will aid us IC and OOC in the long run.

And also more Adept players means they get better armour and shit.

We lose higher level players, the new level gaining system for fighting bosses will ensure we can get more very quickly if they play smart.
>>
>>45902731
>>45902823

Yikes man. Remember you're playing a cooperative high lethality skirmish game where even high level characters have stats in the single digits. Everyone is replaceable; including you; especially you.

What you're system doesn't show are the intangibles that make or break a team.Things that can't be shown on a little stat card. Stuff like group cohesion, cooperation, critical thinking, creativity. You know all the stuff that's got us here so far?

If that's how you look at people you're simply not ready to lead kiddo. A for effort though.
>>
>>45902823
>>45902747
>>45902731
Hetros, you mean well and I can appreciate the desire for concrete data to systematize things.

But what you're proposing is not it. It is, at best, a flawed measure. And it is at worst a terrible conceit constructed from a flawed assumption that engenders a dangerous split between "worthies" and "unworthies" in a system you've constructed specifically so you can justify either helping or not helping someone around you.

A system of individual worth is no good in a team game, where the constant movements that make those "shine moments" happen is because of the invisible, intangible movements of the rest of the team. For instance; I shut down a portal to Yig. I sleep bombed Horace. I also got Vosskon notes, and if you'll all be kind enough to remember, I shared a bounty split of 14000 zenny with you from them and some items I picked up. Oh, and 6000 before that from blood mages. Oh and the eye of eld? Yeah, the one that got the mages the Eye rune? The one I wanted to put in a gun?
Like, I don't mean to tout my own horn here, but that one was rightfully mine. Oh there was that one time I stopped, what, 6 bagmen or so from overrunning our rearguard and killing us all.

And sure I'd like to think I'm all sorts of awesome, but the only reason any of that ever worked and I happened to be in a position where I could benefit was because of all the movements of the people /around/ me. Like guides to heal or low level knights to soak fire or Siegfried getting ripped apart by a ghoul rather than me.

But, by your measure of worth, those movements aren't anything at all. The very things that make our success possible is disregarded with an over-focus on individuality.

Your measure is flawed, your assumptions are flawed and your attempts at measuring worth in this manner is ultimately both futile and a little twisted. It misses everything that makes us work as a team, and it adds nothing of value as a measurement instrument.
>>
>>45904000
I'm sorry for the somewhat hard tenor of those words, but it's not a good measurement of value and I want to very, very strongly register my mild disappointment with even conceiving of an "individual worth" scale based around "skills".

In a team game, based around cooperation, teammembers naturally shine at some moments and shine less at others. That's natural. That's the nature of cooperation.

By creating a category of heroes and not-heroes, your artifically widen the gap between individual contributions - and you also create pretty insidious clique mindset by accidentally arguing for the worth of long-term characters.

So great, now you've created an encrusted feudal overclass that gets to lord their numbers over any new-comers; forever - newcomers supposed to, nay, expected to die to keep those overlords alive... and so never, ever reach the same status.

I really, really (really) have to hope you don't continue with this. Please don't.

Fine I'll drop it.

It was in poor taste. Especially my phrasing of it.

But I still think we need a fucking system to help figure out when what we are doing is not worth it.
>>
>>45906166

It's not worth it when the group consensus is it's not worth it or everyone is dead.
>>
>>45906166
That's certainly true. Our casualties this floor have been massive, and we've left many nice people behind that would be better out of the ground than in it.
>>
>>45906204
I wish that was enough. But it patently isn't. If it was then people would have learned from what went down on Floor 2.

The fact of the matter is that unless we show people that there -is- a cost to these actions, that at the end of this, we have come out with a phyrric victory at best, then nothing will change, and the losses will continue to mount up until Wyrd Hunt is no more.

The worth system wasn't meant to say "I am more valuable than X" in it's original conception (I really should have been hellishly more careful with my language) it is 'this is what the team lost to increase our effectiveness against an optional floor boss/stupid fight/because we got greedy. Was it worth it?'

Seeing a hard number on that fact makes it more real.
>>
>>45906333
fuck it, I'll just write it out in total levels gained versus levels lost.
>>
>>45906333

What we would have lost for not fighting the floor boss are Kaz and Penny (Who may already be dead). To suggest that the floor boss should not have been fought is to suggest we let them die to save others.

It doesn't matter what we are going to lose in the process of saving them. The certainty of their death if action was not taken out weighed any risk that others MIGHT die in their stead.
>>
>>45906533
Well the end of this fight will determine which of us is right.
>>
>>45906586

And there's the problem. There is no right. It's what you can live with. As much as I enjoy the glorious carnage, I for one could not live with abandoning Kaz and Penny.
>>
>>45906659
Yet you could live with sending maybe a dozen others to their deaths? That is where we disagree I think. I see no difference between the two acts at the end of the day.
>>
>>45906768

Ah, but I didn't send anyone to there deaths. No one was forced to fight the Chimera. Each person chose for their own reasons to fight.

And thus Glorious Leader Jackie has spoken.

You see, some of you are making a mistake. You're trying to use a democratic process to determine who gets sacrificed when and where. Which is bad, as that can easily foster ill will (see all of the Survivor reality TV show). Despite the hunt being run as a democracy (somewhat), things like this are best left to the one in charge. In this case, Jackie.

Jackie is party leader. People follow the decisions of the party leader, otherwise she wouldn't be the party leader. When there's a hard choice to make, it's the party leader's job to make that choice, with or without the input of the rest of the team, and they will be the ones to reap the consequences for their choices (usually in the form of approval or ire of the other players).

There's no science that can be applied to this, no rubrics to calculate openly without fostering dissent. This is something that is handled on a case by case basis, in the manner chosen by those who lead this band.

Jackie (and by extension, our guides) have set the precedent: bring as many back alive as possible. We look out for each other, and hopefully nobody has to feel guilty that someone died saving them.

Nobody has yet to give me a reason why people actually listened to me, the armchair general, who didn't deploy on the field because I have shit luck with dice.

Hello friends! Let's Talk Tactics!

It's Talia the Tactician again, for a second round of helpful suggestions to better prepare you runners to g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶v̶e̶s̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶n̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ plunder distant lands for treasure!

Today's tactical advice of the day is:

1) The Channel ability of Guides boosts the recipient's MAG by half of the user's MAG stat. While the more immediate use for this is to empower Mages or other magic users, the extra boost to a front-line soldier's defense against magic can mean the difference between a lightly seared and a well-cooked soldier!

2) Shifting an adjacent Ally to any other square adjacent to you costs no actions! Re-position and restructure your battle lines with ease to keep your formations solid!

3) Picking up an item is a free action, even if that item is an enemy grenade or un-detonated bomb! Especially useful for rogues with item throw, simply commandeer un-detonated ordinance f̶o̶r̶ ̶g̶l̶o̶r̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ ̶V̶o̶l̶g̶a̶ and hurl it right back into enemy lines!

4) Here's a useful trick for guides and other classes capable of healing; try overwatching a pulse or other healing skill on an allied soldier whom you think will be taking damage from more than one source. Healing begins at 0HP regardless of how far in the negatives your loyal trooper falls to, and a heal between multiple attacks can prevent enemies from being able to [Finishing Off] your comrade!

5) Not confident you can take on an enemy or a group of enemies yourself? Have allies just out of range to help you out? Can't deal enough damage to your target by yourself? Surrounded and unsure of what to do? Shift an enemy combatant into range of friendlies and let them deal with it! (Editor's note: Untested in actual battle; use with caution!)

This is Talia the Tactician, once again talking tactics at Let's Talk Tactis! See you next time!

actually your hunter one is wrong. H&P can only move somebody within the space in an arc between me and them. If they're closer, I can move them over me, but otherwise there's a specific arc I can move them, originating from their position and centered on the H&Per

It wouldn't surprise me, honestly, if H&P was the only way to shift enemies.
>>
>>45928480
The hook and pull was just an example of the farthest you could move someone with both hook and pull, and then using a shift.

The farthest you could hook an ally from, and the furthest from their original position you could shift them to afterwards.

I may have been mistaken in my processing but, in the time that shifting units occured, an artificial form of bumping use used in which a move action had to be suspended. As well, both hands had to be emptied in order for pick up and drop off to be legal to this extend. And while that creates a lot of processing shadows, I will reiterate what all this is falling under.

-Bumping moves allied units you run into controlling it makes something inevitable manageable.

-Boosting works as a tap action in which you are treated as artifical walkable terrain or used as handable ledge.

-Picking up and Dropping off works off the legality that you can carry hand items, with medium objects requiring both hands, but incurring the status effect [Heavy upon transit, which causes Tiles to Fall.].
This was left intentionally open since there are a lot of situations that could conflict with this and I didn't want to add numbers to rulings like weight carring allowances and whatnot.

Now the grey area things that you kids love to abuse a lot:
-Bumping by traversing through allied tiles is doable. But I'd like this to be done once per move action packet or not at all.

-Shifting units for free Is Never Going to Happen.

And lastly, if you wish to perform any range of actions be it a persuasion check or player shift, you can do no worse than spending an action for all these things. This falls under an unwritten Skirmishing rule called
Rule 0: Which states that anything can be performed outside of your training with less than a certain chance of success made only more certain if:
- An Action was Spent doing this. [it incurs 1d6 dice during backend]
- A Full Action was Spent doing this. [it incurs 2d6 dice during backend]

And seeing as how all these assumptions were posited without first ASKING ME about it I have no obligation to make them legal during next processing phase.

Any further conversation about this can be continued in the general thread .

I'm not responsible for what others say, nor am I obligated to correct every assumption. This all falls under the impetus that players must form their own thoughts and opinions regarding things like Strategy, Deciscion Making in the story, and unit cohesion with others. And yes- information warfare. And by extension /counter-intelligence/ warfare.

I'm not intentionally being opaque but I do tend to respect people's deciscion to say what they want with little interference.

However you Can Always Ask [Runner] since all he wants to do is write papers about Running.

Son of a Mother.

I wish I had known that.

While Rabbits appreciate your desire to share-teach, your advice has been truth with bias and very excluded fairness sometimes now.

1 - please am not be channelling knights for magical defense. Will make knights vulnerable and charred. Is only workable on rogue-slayer-weiss-militia. If knight gain magical power, they become weaker.

2 - this is not truth. Impossible.

3 - can throw such things not so far, 3 sqaures, and mostly requires bag-space and hand to throw. Is good advice.

4 - Many guides are doing this, but poor guides are slow-turtle-trees. Is better to use time to heal and cleanse immediately. But can overwatch-prepare heal on channelled person out of range.

5 - is impossible. Only Rabbits can do this, because Rabbits can spinning throw enemy. Also maybe Beckie.

"Actually, I believe whether or not a Knight would benefit from a MAG boost depends on the POW of the spell they are being hit by. Consider a POW 4, 6, 8, and 10 spell. Let us say for the sake of argument our Knight is being channeled by Khya, who has 10 POW. This means that by channeling, she will grant our knight 5 MAG."

"Against the POW 4 hit, the Knight will take 2 damage while unchanneled and 0 damage when channeled. Against the POW 4 hit, the Knight will take 2 damage while unchanneled and 0 damage when channeled. Against the POW 6 hit, which is the base POW of a Wizard, the Knight will take 3 damage while unchanneled and 1 damage when channeled. Against the POW 8 hit, a Ball+Ball spell from a base level mage or a longer ranged spell from a higher level mage, the Knight will take 4 damage while unchanneled and 3 damage when channeled. Against the POW 10 hit, the Knight will take 5 damage while unchanneled and 5 damage when channeled. In this example, for a POW past 10, the knight will take less damage halving the damage than they would by being channeled."

"So indeed, it depends on what you are fighting and who is doing the channeling."

Is Jackie banished, or just been snatched by that moth?
I am game for a little fly fishing if it is in fact above the hole, and not the moth now near the stairs.

Who knows, but Falconi is in hot pursuit. Hopefully the 12 mov will help them catch up with a 6 act moth, or atleast remain apace with them to let us know where Jackie was taken.

Does anyone have any idea what 'Howling Blood Moon' does? Apart from pour blood all over the user, apparently.

Rabbit thnks it might be an illusion to make things seem more scary-odd than they actually are.

Rabbits is not entirely sure about this, but trusts Latvian.

But Kid-child is also blood mage. So maybe illusion blood is enough blood to do scary magic? Rabbit worries.

Oh.... Our Summoner is just...
Experiencing the joys of womanhood.

[she actually named hers the same as I did...]
>>
>>45948363
Rabbits has moved from being concerned to being over-awed at the beauty of womanhood.

Curiously, is feeling much like being concerned, but also with small-faint trace of terror.
