((Welcome to the Mecha Mercs Skirmish Campaign.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot. As the campaign progresses the players will accumulate a supply of resources which can be used to build up a persistent pool of mechs and equipment, but watch out! If your pilot dies you could lose it all and be forced to start again with an inferior mech.

Right now sign ups are currently closed. All existing players who wish to participate in the mission please answer the roll call and post your builds. If you don't catch the start of the game don't worry, it moves a lot more slowly now and you can deploy mid-mission.

Cable Guy: “Settle down folks and let’s go over the mission. I’ve been in contact with our client over the past few days pouring over the intel. So here’s the situation: Our arms dealer is a guy called Richard Irving, he’s got a reputation in the underworld for being able to give people things they shouldn’t have. In this case he’s selling a dirty bomb to a group of Landum Ultranationalists known as the Enlightened Rulers. Yeah Landum may be all about being a “responsible member of the international community” but there are still elements within the country that believe they should make another go at building an empire. Irving will be arriving at a port on the coast of Droerus later today. The Enlightened Rulers will be waiting there to complete the transaction.

In addition to the dirty bomb he’s also supplying state of the art light vehicles and drones to the ER. We’re talking mobile gun platforms equipped with railguns, thermoptic-camoflague and electronic warfare equipment. The good news is that there are no signs of any mech forces in the AO, the bad news is that aside from the stuff Irving is selling, that section of the docks has been fortified by the ER, expect lots of infantry and AFVs. Be especially careful of the infantry, they’re likely to be carrying a higher number of heavy weapons per squad than normal including man portable ATGMs. Once you make your presence known the drones are likely to be deployed on site. If you see any command trucks taking them out might make the drones easier to deal with."

"Our primary objective is to stop the ER from escaping with the dirty bomb. So, here's what I'm thinking, on top of my mind. Conventional unit deploy north, and make a run for the escape zone, destrying any units on their path. Set up a barrage.

Down south, the stealth unit deploy, and go for the command truck, SAMs, and the objective if they can.

This looks like a Blitz mission to me. Deploy everyone in one big pile and hit them with concentrated and overwhelming force. I'd suggest most people deploying to the north side where the enemy are weaker and we can get between the truck and the escape corridor.

Here's the problems as I see them.

The infantry squads are dug inbetween the warehouse bocks, and will pour fire into our approach corridor. If we deploy too heavily north, we will also be stumbling all over each other.

If we deploy the Poineer team, it will hamper our movement and prevent us from linking up without wading through side streets, and if the enemy runs we likely won't be able to afford the time to pull back and repair. Still, we do need the ability to restock. I am undecided. Yay or Nay, team?

I understand Railgun tech can tear through walls like soft tissue, so the enemy will likely have the ability to fire on us even if we can't return fire. Some defensive mechs on either location would be good.

What I would like for us is a conventional team to approach from the SOUTH, and use overwhelming force and rockets to blow through the enemy, disable the SAM turrets and allow us to capture the escape ship - they will also funnel the TARGET north.

Meanwhile, you lot with Stealth Tech can deploy NORTH - we'll be the distraction and it will allow you to approac the escape zone easier and cut of any escape.

I strongly suggest to not put everyone in one place. A few of our mechs are equipped with HMPs as their main weapons, relying on opportunities to flank armored vehicles in order to bring them down.

I would deploy 2/3 of our forces north and 1/3 south.

Then half the northern group moves to cut off the Target from it's exfil zone while all other forces overwhelm the main line of defense and push hard to take out the AA fadt and secure that bastard Irving.
I suggest liberal use of the red line system overrides during the initial assault and to destroy the AA with long range fire.

Hm. With an Errant, a rifle and a bevy of missiles you and I can do some damage together. You'd need clear of lanes of fire to utilize most of your tech.

I'd suggest signing out the Stiletto Targetting Suite in the Stash, and adding it to your torso - it'll up the oomph on your single rifle and missiles. You're good for either north or south, but because of your single rifle you might get overrun if charged. I suggest deploying to the north to back up the team there. Start, move nroth, lock on to the vehicles, blow them apart, move on up. Your missiles should outrange the vehicles, but a single shot rifle is not so good against squads.

To everyone else, keep in mind that rapid-fire and explosives will work better that single-shot mech-droppers, so focus your efforts on targets that you're best equipped to handle: Mortars, pistols, and auto-rifles at the infantry; HK, Emp, and ARs at the tanks. And drones should be dropped ASAP, they're fragile, but will ruin our day right quick if we let them.

Basically it's as you say. Normally you can overwatch only one shot per weapon per action.

The Vigilance skill lets you make two overwatch attacks with a single weapon or one attack+reload if it's a slow reload weapon.

However vigilance will not let you attack the same enemy twice. What happens is you will attack the first enemy that triggers overwatch, then if a second enemy triggers overwatch, you will attack them too.

The mechs are meant to run the gamut of various styles. When I initially conceived the setting the base line was a military robot style meant to incorporate both humanoid "japanese" style mecha and the more "western" walking tanks.

General tech level is about the same as it is in the modern world with allowances made for super science. Think Metal Gear Solid + Ace Combat with a dash of Chromehounds. The current in universe year is 2000 so it's actually behind our time a bit.

For cockpit interfaces. GGA just uses joysticks/pedals+ large monitors, like a big desktop gaming rig.

Most other companies have a mix of a titanfall-like display or a VR display mounted directly on the helmet. There are rumours of neural link technology being researched but so far it hasn't appeared. Depending on the design there is usually a periscope you can use to view the battlefield should the main cameras be disabled.

Movement is facilitated by a mix of hydraulics, actuators, and servos. Artificial muscle is still in the experimental phases.

Generally it isn't, but you were walking through multiple overwatching enemies at close range... actually this has revealed a slight discrepancy in the stealth rules: can you be detected in your own turn? Pilot Tragedy, that gauss tank is all yours!

Pilot Kail! Hack Renegade 3, make it fire on the third standing tank near that southhern cluster of two we took out!

Pilots Eisensturm, Chuck, Gunman and Kestrel, take out the tanks as much as you can to buy Hetros a way clear!

I've locked onto one of the tanks (the top right one), so Eisensturm can blast it. And Kestrel's drones can take on the infantry if they can spare the action for Drone Control (or just give us some more Locks otherwise). But Chuck has taken a pretty big beating.

While physically possible crushing infantry is actually quite hard as they tend to scatter if a mech rushes them like that. It is also a highly frowned upon tactic, that will increase the likelyhood of the enemy choosing to gun you down instead of capturing you should your mech get wrecked.

Mechanically I'm going to rule that it counts as a melee attack that wipes out the squad if you crit.

It's purely psychological and irrational. Generally speaking, ranged weapons no matter how devastating feel more impersonal, but seeing a mech walk up to your comrades and crush them engenders a certain level of terror and hatred towards that specific object.

There are international conventions of war. Generally you do not directly attack an enemy once it is obvious they are defeated and no longer pose a threat. This is not always followed to the letter but the risk of being shot directly is relatively minor. Most lawful factions are incentivised to capture mercs rather than kill them since most companies will pay to have their personnel repatriated.

Unlawful factions such as criminals and terrorists are more likely to gun you down, but even then, they will prioritize active threats over fleeing pilots.

Thinking about it, our best bet here might be to... hm.

Bludhawk, wipe out that last drone. I guess with all the others gone, taking out the Drone Control doesn't gurantee it can't function. That was my bad call.

Gunman, Kestrel, you can probably take the tank and dent the infantry then get ready for the VTOLs. They have Longbow Missiles, your best bet is to hide behind a warehouse. I was wrong in my initial assessment, and a pair of EMP missiles likely will not finally cripple that tank. But the extra guidance from Malek does make it easier to hit! Better take that shot on Z, Gunman - oh, I see you already have. That leaves just that infantry group for you, Kestrel.
Recon Drones under your command are a good counter for the infantry squads haressing Horst.

If Kail and I move up, we get ready for the incoming VTOL's and swat them out of the sky.
