https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjS_g3Syhu8You are Tom Gainer. Yesterday, a van exploded and you gained superpowers. Then you had to leave town as the police and the International Union of Powered Heroes aka the Super Union are hunting you down. Now here you are abandoning your car, a gift from your parents when you graduated from high school, at a very old looking gas station on the outskirts of town, making your way out into the wilderness of the George Brakart State Park. You are somewhat familiar with the area, despite not being originally from Crimson Beach or even New Hampshire. If you put your mind to it, you think, you can probably live off the land for a while and maybe things will cool down enough that you can try to clear your name.First things first: supplies. Because of its location, this gas station has a wide selection of what could be described as the bare essentials for camping. You have a total $200 dollars to your name. The camping 'aisle' consists of a gas stove, several bags of preserved food (jerky, trail mix, dried fruit), a mess kit, small tanks of propane, the larger tanks of propane that can be refilled at any gas station, knives, and spatulas. You can probably afford a little of some things. Gas Stove: $25Mess Kit: $10Small Propane: $15Large Propane: $75Knife: $12Spatula: $4Assorted Preserved Snacks: $20 for 1 week of snacks.>Choose your shopping list!

>>45625207You decide to forgo the stove and gas. Too reliant on civilization. Its a good thing you did Boy Scouts when you were young. City life would have left you completely unprepared for living in the woods for any longer than half a day. You are confident in your ability to make fire, hunt and kill your own food. If not, well this month's worth of preserved snacks should be able to keep you going in the mean time. You have $94 left as a very bored looking attendant bids you a half-hearted farewell. The mess kit and spatula fit neatly into your backpack and you look one last time at your car before turning into the woods for at least a month of time.It takes you about 3 hours to trek into the park far enough that you feel you'll be safe from at least the normal public's eye. Whatever the Capes have to throw at you, you just have to prepare to hold them off and escape again. Camp is set up relatively easily. You had a spare tent in your car from a summer trip with your family so you don't have to worry about building shelter for the moment.>Work on your sound powers D100>Improve your body. >>45625622You decide to check if it really was you that made the world go silent except you yesterday. You stand at the center of camp and stay silent for a moment. You hear the sound of birds and the distant noise of water rushing down a river nearby. You concentrate on turning it all off. No noise. No noise. NO NOISE. You sweat and your head starts to hurt but you can still hear the birds. You aren't sure if its just the headache or not, but they sound softer. The sound of the river is gone or at least so quiet now that it is beyond your hearing. You let out a sigh and relax as the sound return to its normal, slightly louder state. On the bright side, now you know for a fact that you can control the sound around you. So hey, there's that!>Continue practicing sound powers. d100>Lets see if I can run up this tree! >>45626055You decide to take a break from the slightly disappointing exercises of your sound powers and focus on your enhanced agility. After a short walk away from your camp, you find a tall tree with a large number of branches reaching all the way to the top. Without really thinking about it, you run at the trunk of the tree and after three steps up the trunk push off, grabbing a nearby branch and swinging your way up to the next one. You leap from that branch to the next and the next with more and more flourish to your movements. If it wasn't for the superhero manhunt they have going on for you, you could completely dominate the parkour world! Hot damn! You sit up on a branch at the top of the tree and look out over the park. You can see the river you were hearing at the camp not much more than a mile away and, if you squint, you can just barely make out your campfire in the clearing you set up in. Off in the distance you see the sun setting and, in the other direction, lights from the Crimson Beach metropolitan area. Its almost... peaceful here. You'd feel a lot better about this if it wasn't for the ever present concern of powerful Capes trying to track you down. All that's left to do is to get down from this tree.>Roll d100

>>45626661You decide to try again with your sound powers. You know you can turn down the volume, but can you turn it up? Think about loud things. Being next to the amps at metal concerts. Jackhammers. The explosion... oh god the explosion was so loud. You look around as you think. You see birds in the trees as well as some squirrels, and that's when things go wrong. We really, they go right, but far too fast for you to reign in. It first starts out as a low hum, but grows into a growl, then a screech that overwhelms your senses. It is immensely painful, and seems to drag on for an eternity. Its as if someone put a stadium PA system up to a wind tunnel and turned the gain up to max! As soon as you lose focus, though, it disappears. You take a second to inspect yourself. You make a nonsense syllable."BAH"You can still hear fine. Not even any lasting tinnitus. You put a finger up to your ear. No bleeding. What ever happened, it seems that you can't hurt yourself too badly with your powers. At least you're irony-proof.Looking around, you can't seem to say that much for the local wildlife. On the ground around the outskirts of camp, you can see convulsing bodies of the smaller creatures that were observing you. They are either dead or in the process of dying. Its... a little disturbing to look at. You aren't sure if you want to try out your powers again today. From a dark part of your mind you tell yourself that at least you could harvest the animals for meat since you have that knife.Mass Death counter: 1>Listen to the voice. Start with the dying. You pick up squirrel corpses and the larger dead birds that you think you could probably get some meat off of. Hopefully those that can recover from what you did will be able to get up and get away from you. It turns out to be quite the bounty of small creatures, but most of them don't look like they could offer much in the way of meat. You see a few creatures stagger to their feet and stumble off into the woods. At least you didn't kill everything around you.You tap into that part of your brain that stored the parts of your Boy Scouts days that didn't involve poker games or making lanyards and take out your knife. It takes a good amount of time, but by the time it truly becomes dark, you have a decent pile of fresh squirrel furs and piles of meat and guts. You scoop up the guts and carry them to the river for the bears and other scavengers to eat while you return to stoke your fire and start cooking. You stomach grumbles as you take in the aroma of cooking meat. They got in the only report about this Gainer kid's powers and are sure he isn't responsible for the explosion at the college." That's a relief. "But it seems he wasn't the only one to suddenly have powers following the blast. There have been a boat load of new Supers emerging in the last 24 hours alone. Its crazy out there. I heard some of them even turned Monstrous."You've heard that term before. Monstrous Supers are rare. When Supers emerge with powers with physical traits, most of them can either conceal or control them. Monstrous Supers are stuck. Worse still, you've never heard of a good Monstrous Super. Some people speculate that its part of the Monstrous trait."The Union sent me up here to track the poor kid down before he hurts someone while trying to learn his power." So he his with the Union. "You let me know if you run into him. If you do, tell him the Union apologizes for its rash decision making. We only want to help."And with that, the man starts to move again, his footsteps growing fainter.[END OF THREAD]Sorry folks, I need to get up early tomorrow so I'm calling it here.
