In which we randomly generate a new plane of existence and populate it with locations and creatures from Magic.

We are a Planeswalker who has come into a new source of power and is now able to create our own plane of existence by populating it with the things we have experienced on our travels across the planes. Unlike other artificial realms, this plane will not be a mimicry of life, but contain actual life.

Right now the world is blank, but after we determine the landmasses, we will populate it with creatures you suggest.

We will start from the center of our map. 1d6 determines the first color and 1d20 determines its landmass.

I have it in front of me. d8 determines the direction, 1d100 determines the color based on Magic's color wheel and 1d20 determines the quantity of landmass.

Your 85 is the Backwards Allied of Blue, which is White, so I need a d20 for how many Plains and a d8 for the direction.

For now it's mostly dice to determine the shape of the lands, the distribution of what type of lands.

Once that's done with, we'll move onto actively populating it.

Populations of creatures will be determined by the size of the individual region, what colors border it, and the mana costs of the creatures themselves.

How about:

This plane has a problem, the mana and features of this land occasionally bleed out into the blind eternities, or vice-a-versa, causing vast swathes of colorless, featureless, expanses, wherein nothing can live. Similar to wastes I guess, but more naturally occurring and a hostile feature, like a volcano or pitfall.

People know and just deal.

Colorless lands will be determined based on their generation location. They could end up being cities, fortresses, wastelands -- any Magic card that is a land that produces colorless mana could be suitable for them.

>>45622155

That is also a possibility.

As we are a Planesforger, putting this world together with pieces of other worlds, and since it is randomly determined (possibly because we can only direct, but not entirely control the power we have come into) the lands can end up more unnautural in some places.

Black is currently in the lead, color-wise.

>>45623411

Once we hit a certain point, I'll fill the rest in myself, basically expanding outwards, with a larger emphasis on blue in order to make rivers, oceans and such.

>>45623457

Each region of color will be populated based on its size. For example, a land-locked blue region that is 34 hexes in size will have more creatures than one that is 13 hexes in size. Creatures will also be determined by use of their mana cost, and some regions will be able to have multi-colored creatures inhabiting the borders based on what colors are adjacent to it.

I also want to approach it from an ecosystem kind of way, which is to say I want creatures that serve as predators and non-predators, and the sapient races living in these regions will have to fit into the ecosystem as well, either by being apart of it (I imagine elves would rather coexist with nature) or by dominating it (humans or orcs would be a good example). Territory will play a big factor in the world we are forging and as >>45623069 suggested dual-lands and tri-lands will also be factored in.

I know it makes sense to expand blue for rivers and oceans, but i think it could be cool if we kept going random a bit.
And who is to say that a green mana section couldn't be a huge mangrove forest? That's enough like a body of water.

Also we are making the plane right? We're wizards with no sense of right and wrong, or ecosystems that have evolved over millions of years.
>>
>>45624006

I hear you. I think that the exterior regions will be mostly water though, with a few central and large landmasses.

But we're still randomly determining the lands, so we'll see how it ends up.

I think, after a certain point, I'll ask the thread if it's a good point to stop and just fill in the rest myself.

Anyway, doing the next numbers now.

Alright, we just hit 1500 in total colors, and here's the result so far.

What say we we stop and make this into its own landmass; surround it in water and fill in the gaps?

Then we can make a separate landmass elsewhere from it.

Here's the current count for this landmass:

White: 317
Blue: 324
Black: 357
Red: 241
Green: 169
Colorless: 136

Let me get some feedback. What would you like to do? Keep rolling on this one, or fill in the gaps and move onto a new landmass?

I definitely do feel that there is quite a bit of colorless going on, which surprises me a bit, given that it only has a 5% chance of being rolled on. I can't help but think that the more north you go (on the first landmass) the more colorless land is seen, as well as more concentrated swampland. There's also a lot of synergy between Black and Red, particularly on the lower right sections.

The few selkies included in Shadowmoor/Eventide have fairly generic U/G abilities. However, they're more hybrids than shapeshifter. The selkies of this plane could be Merfolk Shapeshifters if we want to focus on that aspect of their mythology.
Landwalk/Unblockable seems like a good way to represent their amphibious nature and ability to escape detainment. Perhaps Shroud/Hexproof would work too.
Although not very tough, a race of Landwalking/Hexproofers would be an interesting concept.
They could also just be flip card like werewolves, too. I'll try to think of other mechanics that might fit selkies.

Honestly I like the idea of sliver folk but what would they look like?

What would their lore be?

Would they be incomplete slivers of a broken god like (what I recall) of their old lore?
>>
>>45631431

Well, I've always had a bit of a magical realm for slivers kidnapping fertile humanoid females and converting them into broodmothers. THEN I realized that's a rehash of the Alien movies, so that's stupid.

I don't think they should be colorless, but maybe a schism in sliver society? One hive is a true hive: ruled by the collective will of the swarm; the other one is composed of individuals who are capable of telepathic communication. Maybe some geographic separation between the two of them. They constantly do raids between each other. And completely fuck over everything that stands in their way.
>>
>>45631543
That could be what's going on with the colorless areas. Wastes perhaps?

I'd maybe like to see if we could do something benevolent about the slivers on this world then.

I mean not exactly "hurr durr we're nice" but more... inherent to the order of the world?
>>
>>45631539
If I recall, slivers were originally created from reviving fossils. Perhaps these slivers are an offshoot that was never tampered with by the Riptide project. They would be dangerous, sure, but not killer bioweapons. Just a race of adaptive creatures with the potential for sapience.
>>45631543
How about 5 Sliver Queens, but one of each color. Instead of focusing their agression on other races, they make war with each other and the other races have learned to avoid them and their interspecies conflict.

Well, considering this is a constructed plane, what if the slivers being there and being so adaptive are what helps the plane stay together?

Like how Time Spiral had those slivers that could produce mana, maybe the slivers here have some similar kind of plane-related adaptation?
>>
>>45631640

How about 5 Sliver Queens, but one of each color. Instead of focusing their agression on other races, they make war with each other and the other races have learned to avoid them and their interspecies conflict.
>This works if slivers aren't the bioweapons and simply magical creatures.

How about we combine the two. I like the "slivers of an ancient god" idea. But the slivers as a race used to be a sort of Natural caretaker of the world or at least a force of true and wholesome balanced unity, until this collective unity was shattered (by what we don't know).

so now the slivers war with eachother after the creation of sliver lords.
>>
>>45631599

Even more originally, Slivers were from Rath. Though there was some throwaway lore that they weren't native to Rath either.

Perhaps this place could be Sliverhome? And that they're not acting crazy?

And I don't like the 5-color Queens, only because that's just a rehash of New Phyrexia. I'd rather do something else with them.

Perhaps one of the Sliver groups is a hive mind, like the basic slivers; and the other one is a mind hive - a super-powerful singular lifeform?
>>
>>45631666
What if the sliver tribes warring is a recent development? If the slivers are responsible for keeping the plane cohesive, now that they're fighting each other their death could be what's causing the plane to fall apart.
Doubly so if the Green Queen died, because then we have a decided problem on keeping the plane from falling apart.
>>
>>45631689
well them being "five colored" might be a rehash but you got a good idea there. Them being differently themed. Lets multiple colors exist within a faction. and takes advantage of the "If we're next to eachother we share abilities" thing.

>one of the Sliver groups is a hive mind, like the basic slivers; and the other one is a mind hive - a super-powerful singular lifeform?

Maybe the conflict is basically about where and how they approach this next step of evolution. There used to be a cohesive whole Sliver race and now there's this Singular Overmind (perhaps some dickass wizard with an instrumentality plot) that tried to take everything over, a collective of natural slivers, and to get inspiration from other /tg/ shit slivers that seem distinctly distressed at suddenly being individuals.

Only the Queens would be definitely monocolored and perhaps only the Queens would have the ability to give abilities to all slivers as to further differentiate them from typical slivers. The 4/5 Sliver Queens would have to give all slivers you control some decent boons to justify taking this ability away from the rest of them, though.
I understand if this idea is unpopular, but the whole sliver boosting every other sliver might be too played out.
This allows us to have lots of slivers with various abilities without worrying about them all giving different abilities to each other.

Things broken, will always want to come together. Unity magic leftover from the sliver's creation and/or catastrophe permeates the land. Again there might be some kind of unity and togetherness theme to the mana of the plane. it coalesces and collects. and compels creatures to do the same.

This can be easy to apply to slivers, but it makes me wonder what that does to the other creatures of the plane.
>>

I was thinking of some sort of shade earlier. They'd be spirits, rule wise. People who get trapped in phased-out lands and are stuck halfway out of reality. Getting trapped in phased out lands might be a cool way of doing this, though their color could be up for debate.

If we go with the Dead Green Sliver Queen, what if she was like a huge Sliver Tree that maintained the forests, and her death let the scavengers of Green take over?
So far, Green looks like it has been fucked over somehow, so Oozes and Fungi would be great. Perhaps even the forests are made from gigantic mushrooms. They should definitely be the token makers of this world, too. We could even have Fugus Oozes to represent slime molds.

>Maybe the conflict is basically about where and how they approach this next step of evolution. There used to be a cohesive whole Sliver race and now there's this Singular Overmind (perhaps some dickass wizard with an instrumentality plot) that tried to take everything over, a collective of natural slivers, and to get inspiration from other /tg/ shit slivers that seem distinctly distressed at suddenly being individuals

Return of the Thallids!

Well, ooze based thallids but I'm certainly not complaining.

Instead of mushrooms for the forests though, I'm thinking that under the watch of the Green Queen, the trees got huge, redwood size at least. Now, filled with scavengers and decay, they're these giant rotting, fungus covered logs, slowly being eaten away by the rampant green mana that makes up the oozes and fungus.

Considering the massive variety of horrifying looking mushrooms, I think we could make a surprisingly visually distinct bunch of oozy mushroom blobs.

Traditional Slivers with QUeens and shit (maybe internal bickering) a collaborative hivemind

vs a menacing and selfish singular dominating Overmind (perhaps it glues and fuses the slivers in its collective consciousness together rather than let them network naturally).

and independantly sentient slivers, that are trying to figure out how to be "a race"

Does that work?
>>
>>45632100
I'd like to give them Poisonous as well. If Green isn't going to be getting the huge beatsticks it usually gets, then poison counters would be a good way to balance them, alongside creature tokens.
>>
so weird idea... what if other sentient races (if we have them) decended from slivers in much the same way humans decended from apes. and as such Elves and goblins might be able to "grant" slivers abilities but not get them. Sort of becomes like slivers adapting features and abilities from other races for some reason. and judging from the direction things are going in thread we might not even have the more traditional races in the plane.

Just a weird idea.
>>
>>45632114

I dunno I kind of like the singular "broken-ness" of this plane. Maybe traditional races used to exist but due to the Disharmony that sundered the slivers they've long since disappeared or are just barely clawing on to civilization. Things going on with the slivers might be the key to getting things rebooted. Maybe the sentient slivers are a sort of reaction to more traditional races being absent. Kind of like that movie 9.

With the idea of traditional races existing once upon a time, treefolk could be the original green race, and now are either incredibly rare uncorrupted treefolk, or the slightly more common (but not much) horrifying rotting treefolk.

I'm thinking they're only partially alive, in that way that trees can survive the equivalent of a heart attack by just killing the section where the attack would really happen, and being sloughed around by the fungus that covers portions of their bodies.

Also fuck yeah 9. That was a fun little movie.

Zombie Treefolk work, especially if we end up deciding that the Black faction had a part to play with the reduction of Green mana in this plane.

>>
>>45632631
What if we have something like Krakens be blue? Something big and primordial, or connected to the idea of the oceans.

alternatively, the selkies earlier in this thread could totally fit the bracket, if we tweak them enough to make them interesting. I'm thinking a little more monstrous than usual, to fit with the decidedly non-civilized batch of species we have so far.

What about golems for white mana?
Not like the old mirrodin golems, but something along the liens of a kind of 'spirit of civilization' thing. They exist out of the ruins of kingdoms and villages, like how the skeletons exist out of the ruins of people themselves. Maybe have them have a flip state, or some kind of active state that lets them become a land?
>>
>>45632708
Perhaps white could be primordial angels, somewhat like biblical portrayals of angels. Something like a series of gold rings spinning(?) around a mote of light. White is law and order and an almost mechanical form for white wouldnt be strange.
>>
>>45632779
>>45632775
Why not combine these two, they are styled after Biblical Angels, but in order to communicate with people they use humanoid bodies made out of parts of their "city". mostly because their voices turn people into white crystal normally, but when filtered through the mouths of the golems, they don't.

>>
>>45627696
Looking at the distribution of some of the colours, I can see a few possibilites. For starters, all the wastes are bordering a large amount of water. (So are the swamps for the first continent, but still) What if sea-faring civilization?
Or going the more eldritch desert approach, things landing in the oceans which are raising the land or growing on their own. Fragments of the dead god growing a mirror of the silvers-Devoid humanoids formed from the physical remnants with all the mana drained, where the slivers were all the mana concentrated into smaller places.

There's a big mountain range that runs almost all the way across the southern portion of the North continent save for breaks by swamps. Could this be linked? The bones of the God buried under the mountains, and where the mountains are thinner, black mana seeps up.

Also, if the main groups we're driving for at the moment are 4 tribes of slivers and 1 tribe of mutant elves(out of green) We need a central green theme and I vote we bring back the behemoths. Hyper adaptive and evolutionary, the only things that have survived whatever cataclysm happened to green mana. (Also because hell yeah Baloths.)

i can get behind that. might need to keep close to the somber Post-apoc sliverworld theme in mind.

Should gargoyles be natural creatures that have the ability to say... turn into stone? Gain indestructible/ if you charge them with mana? Or they become/unbecome artifacts in addition to their other types if they are charged with mana.
>>
>>45633019
I'm thinking so far our plane has these kind of key points:
>Once upon a time, there were more regular races.
>Green Sliver Queen died, slivers fought, plane started to fall apart.
>The current monocolor races are all sort of derived from a previous race.
i.e. Skeletons from bodies, Red Shades from spirits, Gargoyles from architecture, Oozes from treefolk.

>Also all of our monocolor races are more primal and elemental than the usual magic races.

With that in mind, I like the idea of the angelic orderbeings inhabiting ramshackle gargoyles made of the ruins of white mana civilization. Maybe have them be artifacts your can pump with mana to make into creatures?

Also, any idea on what we should do for blue?

Perhaps they could be artifact creatures meant to fight the slivers, they were obviously too weak to save their makers but strong enough to continue to exist. They could be "running dry" and the angels could be using the white mana in their bodies to revive them. I liked the idea a previous anon had making the angels be living enchantments, so the gargoyles could be getting benefits like losing defender or gaining stuff like flying when enchanted.

>smart enough to be aware they didn't exist before.
Maybe they were, like the gargoyles, built into the cities as a form of data storage and transportation.
>>
>>45633245
Wierds are all artificial and anomalous by nature, they are made from fusing red and blue mana together in non-compatible forms with artiface and magic.
A new race that takes after things like surrakar would probably be the best fit for blue, emerging sentience in a world where eveything simply does whatever it does would be nice. Although making them shrimpy babies wouldnt make sense because they have to be able to survive the savage primal world they live in.

Aren't they like everywhere?
If we include them we might have to do something interesting with them.

Again the post-apoc and resurgence theme is going on. We mentioned G/B Treefolk that have been corrupted by the ooze and death of green mana that came from the green sliver queen. So perhaps Leonin are R/W, Noble and righteous but getting really antsy and emotional about the failing state of the world and their role in it. And as such, like the Treefolk might be on the verge of dying out.

Maybe what bigger hominid races there are could follow an enemy color theme?
>>
>>45633736
Mind control fungi!
Alternatively make it so that there is a fungal hivemind or every fungus is part of the same organism spanning the whole plane (think Halo Gravemind).
This would give the opportunity for another race (maybe primitive humanoid) with green and another color who maybe see the Fungus as a god and try to spread the Godfungus over the rest of the plane.

Or we could stay with the long forgotten Civilization thing. Maybe link the fungi with their take on instrumentality through biologic means.
A once proud and allmighty civilization, now merely a plane spanning network of fungi in eternal silent communion, in utter fear over the death of the plane and thus the end of their eternity

A few obviously important locations for the first continent that was made:
>The twin lakes to the North, with the thin strip of forests and swamps that separates them. The perfect den for Sultai shenanigans, somewhere out of the way and well-hidden in the undergrowth.
>That long, massive stretch of plains that is guaranteed to be the domain of the most important and most powerful civilization of the setting.
>Then to the South-East of it, there's that range of mountains separating that group of plains for another, with a small bundle of swamps in the middle of it. To me, that makes me think of some sort of fetid, war-torn pass, the only path that allows for easy access between two kingdoms that are likely on unfriendly terms. The amount of carnage and conflict that has taken place here over the years has probably turned it into an unholy, death-filled landmark fraught with danger.
>To the West of the Southern-most point of that mountain range, you have that claw-like peninsula of entirely swamps, which I imagine to be some sort of ancient kingdom that has long since fallen to depraved magic, perhaps necromancy or something else.
>That one red hex on the South-Eastern coast? Big fucking volcano.
>Directly to the East of the big, important plains kingdom is the Northern portion of that mountain range I mentioned, as well as a whole collection of swamps and a few lakes. The perfect bastion for some Grixis nastiness that threatens all of the neighboring white territories.
>At the Western edge of that claw-like peninsula of swamps, there's an extension of plains that ends in forests. Perhaps some sort of hallowed ground, still sacred and protected by the ancient rites of druids or something?

W/R Leonin would work well with W/G Loxodon and Rhox, perhaps the three races had to work together in order to survive.
Since the Green Sliver Queen died, green was basically split in two: The beastmen who escaped the decaying forests to survive in the plains (W/G) and the plants/oozes that now dominate those forests (B/G).
Powerful treefolk zombies still live in the forests, but they've been driven insane and stalk the dead forests in search of people and things to smash.
>>45633213
I like the Shadowmoor selkies as seal-taurs rather than shapeshifters. We could make them a minor race that is only just rising to prominence as the world tries to get back on its feet.

>>
>>45634039
What if we make the Leonin more like the rebels from Time Spiral. The world is falling apart, the great civilization they made is now in ruin and being taken over by gargoyles, the primary forces of creation are going apeshit, what else are they going to do.

Honestly, I'm just saying this on the principle of seeing post-apocalyptic catfolk nomads.

I think Leonin fits very well as a post-apoc race, they don't really have the feel of being builders of great cities or stuff like that. Dwarves could be a great fit for a red/white progenitor race, and they are criminally underused in Magic as it is.

I like this idea that the more classic MtG races are kind of put to the wayside as the plane falls apart. We should have them definitely in the minor in terms of population and influence.

We have our primarily kind of elemental group of monocolor races, and then maybe a bunch of more regular species that fit the dual color themes.
>>45635545
Dwarves could be interesting. Perhaps they are one of the species hurting the most by the apocalypse, like the treefolk. I'm thinking the dwarves are fighting the hardcore apocalypse survivor route, and desperately trying to hold on to their cities. Unlike species like the Leonin or our weird wasteland elves who left while the getting was good and survived in greater numbers, the dwarves went all stubborn and sealed themselves in the inner levels of their cities, fighting off all manner of planar-collapse induced nonsense.

>>45635805
>I like blue/red dwarves. Could they be responsible for us getting weirds as our Blue elemental race?

Probably, though we'd need to decide how we're spinning the blue part of dwarves as they're much more of a red/white race pure flavorwise. White coming mostly from their structured society and tendency to work as a community.
>>
>>45635609
The Blue Sliver Queen could be entirely Hiveless, and instead travels underwater with a massive school of aquatic Slivers.
>>45635778
Red/Blue Dwarves could work really well. While the more traditional dwarves built their fortresses underground, other dwarves took to the sea and became Pirates.
>>45635805
>>45635845
The focus of the dwarves could be searching for a "cure" for their world. Even though the world is technically recovering, it's not good enough for dwarves. They believe they can fix the problem.
Some think they can go back in time, others think they can build a God Machine to fix everything, while others research the possibility of reviving the Green Sliver Queen. Then we have Dwarves who hunt slivers in order to experiment with their tissue in hopes of creating a substance that can revive Slivers from the dead.
The dwarves mad scramble to fix the world has driven them apart in many directions, and have lost their structured society.
>>
>>45635845
How about we make the dwarves kind of both?

Traditionally, dwarves were red/white and focused on the more traditionally values of building and community and red mana kind of just hung around the warriors.

Then a bunch of dwarves started to go the mad scientist mode. They started off as a small faction that quickly grew in power and influence until they were the primary faced of dwarvenkind, and made great wonders.
Unfortunately, when the plane started to fall apart, they didn't take it seriously. So when the plane started to fall apart on top of them, it got bad quickly. Never mind that their crazy experimental servant race of elemental blobbities got loose and took over a huge portion of the surrounding countryside, or that their cities were falling into ruin and getting infested with strange white-mana entities possessing statues and buildings.

Instead of digging to deep, they scienced too hard.
>>
>>45635916

I like this idea.

>>45635911

This could work too, maybe with a "fixing their old mistakes" vibe to it.
>>
>>45635950
We could very well do both. Have the white/red dwarves more focused on survival and rebuilding, while the blue/red dwarves are determined by sheer science to solve a problem they don't really understand.

What little structure in dwarven society that remains is with the white dwarves, but its stagnating, and its constantly under assault by outside forces. The scientist dwarves are pretty much varying levels of amoral and crazy, so their attempts to fix the problem are an exercise in frustration and disaster.
>>
>>45635911
>The Blue Sliver Queen could be entirely Hiveless, and instead travels underwater with a massive school of aquatic Slivers.
Hmm, I can see that, I'm picturing the White Hive being like a swarm of Army Ants, with the members contributing to both the workforce and forming parts of the Hive structure itself.
>>
>>45636069

I can see the white/red dwarves in this scenario deciding that the blue/red dwarves are simply a bit too crazy, so they leave them to their machinations while simply making sure the dwarven race survives. The different ideologies are a good source for inter-racial conflict as well.
>>
>>45636165

Wait, not inter-racial, meant more like inner-racial or however you say it.
>>
>>45636130
That sounds pretty cool, though for a second I imagined a giant ball of Slivers with the Queen rolling it from within like a hamster ball.
Though in actuality, it'd be like a swarm of giant locusts or ants.
Since the White and Blue slivers are the more mobile ones, perhaps the Black and Red should actually have Hives.
>>45636165
W/R Dwarves are intent on simply surviving an forgetting their ancient mistakes that might of ruin their plane (perhaps they were experimenting with planeswalking?) while the U/R Dwarves are looking to fix their mistakes, though they might actually end up making things worse.
I mentioned a God Machine, and it'd be interesting to have a cult of Dwarves who end up creating a God.

White slivers absolutely work like eusocial insects.

How about since we have black as the big conglomerate sliver, what if the independent slivers with their new found use of singular pronouns are red mana? It is the color of individuality.
>>
>>45636227
Yawmgoth 2.0: Yawmgoth harder.
>>
>>45636227 has me thinking...

Could the more intelligent races (Cat-people, Dwarves, etc...) each have an idol? Not like the Theros Gods, but a God (maybe multiple, like false Gods) for each race that doesn't depend on their leaders (Slivers)

It could also open up the realm of religion-fueled wars.
>>
>>45636282
On this idea, what if we have their idols be each aspects of the planeswalker that originally created the plane. Not that they know that.

They each worship a different aspect of the same person, and you get all sorts of weird almost-congruence in their religious beliefs.

It makes them just close enough to have constant strife over the tiny details.
>>
>>45636311
I like that idea a lot, the quarrels between all of the separate beliefs wouldn't become to aggressive, leading to an all-out war. But it would keep all of the races from uniting together without some form of hatred and disagreement.
>>
>>45636359
The can be even more interesting depending on what we do with the planeswalker in question. We've already brought up the idea of the planeswalker slowly dying, and their decline partially responsible for the plane going to shit. If they show up in terms of an actual plotline, that's a pretty big deal.

I'm also thinking maybe a five color walker? Considering slivers are their unit of choice, it could have something to do with the Mending.

Pre-Mending, being a 5 color wasn't that big a deal, but post-Mending the planeswalker's frail mortal shell can't handle that much raw power and that much diametrically opposed power. Maybe this could be why they're dying?
>>
As every sliver draft environment has a colourless artifact sliver, we could have a play on that. How about drafts building one in intention of taking control of the slivers, only for it to go highwire and be really fucking destructive, while taking control of the adjecent ones.

Also, I would see the green slivers as another moving hive similar to the ants, but instead of actually having a hive build out of sliver bodies it would be a complex net of scouts, warriors and others, moving through the jungle like locusts and clearing out all animals.
>>
>>45636254
Instead of a conglomerate what if it was more like a Suriname toad and baby slivers are almost constantly erupting from pods on its back?
>>

>>45636311
Sounds pretty cool. Now that brings up the question of is this walker alive or dead by this era?
>>
>>45636426
I think that's what Green slivers used to be, embodying the more communal values of green mana. Worked off the swarm idea, everything worked great.

After the Queen died, we have a loose precedent that regular slivers without queens go nuts. I'm thinking the green slivers went feral, and as they did started embodying the more Baloth-y and Gargantuan-y aspects of green mana. Big, Ornery, Destructive, and Nasty.
>>
>>45636480
I'd say the walker isn't dead, but is in the process of dying. They were strong enough that they didn't just explode in a mana-flavored cloud when the Mending hit, but their strength is waning, and they might be trying to get back to their plane to die among their creations.

Also hell yeah wilted lotus.
>>
>>45636410
A five color walker, post-mending, would definitely work (in my opinion at least).

Do we have a concrete idea on where that walker is? Since the walker is on a new level of power, perhaps since he/she created the plane, he/she is attached to it, in order to sustain it just enough to survive?

I also enjoy the idea that the walker is already weak just from being a five color walker alone, it gives a good reason for the inhabitants in that plane to survive.

Following up the idea of the walker being attached to the plane, if the races ever execute a full-out war between each other it would damage the walker even more, since the war would break down the terrain and most likely use up a lot of mana.
>>
>>45636524
Could explain all the colorless sections. The lack of anchoring slivers and lack of walker intervention is eroding the walker's connection to his own lands. They're starting to just fall off into the blind eternities.
>>
>>45636588
So the plane is slowly losing it's mana and, well, the plane itself?

Sounds rad.
>>
>>45636523
>>45636524
What if the planes walker is just gone? Perhaps a young prodigy created this plane without knowing what they were doing and bailed after they got bored of being God?
>>
>>45636501
Didn't someone suggest that the Green Hive slivers could symbiotically connect with animals, maybe the death of the Green Queen did weird things to the ones who were bonded as such.
>>
>>45636523
>>45636524
Five color oldwalker, made mortal by the mending. How they're dieing of old age, and trying to preserve their creation as long as possible.

Personally, the two end scenarios I like most are either the the tragic one of the plane just dissolving into the blind eternities, or overlapping another plane just before that happens.
>>
>>45636686
I would love to see the event of an inhabitant of the plane becoming a powerful walker, and eventually aiding in the revival of the plane.

Maybe we can get a walker that ISN'T anthropomorphic

In all seriousness, I'm thinking one of the last living treefolk. Spark ignites just as they're about to be trapped in a phasing.

I like the treefolk walker idea.

There is so many options for this walker honestly. Let's just hope it isn't human
>>
>>45636886

Nah, I always sexually preferred the Sliver Queen. However, a Sliver planeswalker would be terrifying. Because unless he's the one mega-sliver, it means that the Hive can now travel across the planes.

Unless of course that's the goal of the MegaSliver - he absorbs as many abilities, planeswalks to a different world, and then sacrifices himself to make a new Hive.
>>
>>45636741
>The dwarves discover the dying planeswalker and agree to implant his spark into the corpse of the Green Sliver Queen in order to save the plane.
Given this Sliverwalker is so important for maintaining the integrity of the plane, we don't have to worry about her invading other planes. Hell we can make her totally immobile like a tree
>>
>>45636961
From previous discussions, a planeswalker's spark probably won't work that way. Megasliver would be the best choice if we do a sliver walker.
Keeping on the topic of slivers, and the unique colored hives they have here, would it be appropriate for them to have abilities like "[color] slivers have [ability]?"

Also we need a new thread soon.
>>
Can we get a running lore sheet that we can add to or amend? It would make this a lot more straightforward
>>
I am unable to archive the thread on sup/tg/ due to the site being blocked. I can't do it on my phone (which I am currently pouting from) because the last time I tried it went badly.

I would appreciate it if someone were to do this for me.

I'm not out of work yet for a few hours, but I've been reading the discussion and have prepared something for the next thread.

Sure. Got a title and description that you want?
>>
>>45637568

Let's see...
Artificial plane, beginning to fall apart. Regions of the world slip in and out of the blind eternities.
The amount of mana produced in thee plane, especially green, is in decline.
There are the 4 sliver queens, one for each color except green.
Aside from the mono-colored slivers, there are other races which correspond with opposing colors.
>Black/Green Undead Treefolk
>Red/White Catfolk
>Blue/Green Selkies?
>Blue/Red Dorfs
>Black/White is yet unknown.

Ruins of the old world have manifested as new monocolor tribes as well.
>White gargoyles
>Blue I forget
>Black skeletons
>Red ghostfire shades
>Green fungi and oozes

And then there's the planeswalker who created this world. Still being figured out.
>>

Could be what the big fight is over. does Mega Sliver get the spark and fuck off somewhere else? Or does someone who actually cares get it and put things right

Though that said maybe its a thankless job anyhow?

Maybe Ugin sets a bad precedent. And last I checked the spark doesn't quite work that way, but igniting one might be the goal of the Mega/MonoSliver.

Also I'm back.

Someone was suggesting Horrors for Black white, but I'll be honest what if they're the "angels" instead. or we can maybe use the Seraphim creature type from original Ravnica with them?

as for Mono Blue, someone tossed around Weirds and I quite like that. they could be a little like the robots from Engine heart trying, following basic programming and to follow what little orders they understand from their long dead masters. Which might amount to "Gather information, repair things (though no one is around to use or care about it)" etc. etc.
>>
>>45638325

I'm wondering if homunculi would be a better fit.

A couple other contenders for black-white were loxodons and kithkin. There was something mentioned about white-green with for the elephants, but I'm thinking there'd be too much if we did allied colors as well.

I love the idea of nephilim as our W/B race. They should be totally inhuman but include some aspects of human anatomy to allude to their past.
Our selkies could be the creators of weirds, who used them as basically robots made out of water and sea plants.
Maybe we should have a cycle of extinct allied color races, of which includes WG loxodons, WU humans, etc
>>
>>45638752
Yeah, OP was gone, and I needed to do something for the title. Will put that in tags next time.
>>
>>45638600
I was honestly thinking all allied color combinations could be covered by the Slivers in some way or another. Since they seem to be the bigger aspects of the plane.
>>
>>45638773
It will be much to incorporate allied colored races as well but that said if they were extinct and the remnants of their societies (Spells, Sorceries, Instants, Creatures and machines they had around and tamed) could be in the allied colors.

>I'm wondering if homunculi would be a better fit.
They might be honestly, they could fit the bill of "discarded robots" in this setting, but i dunno nothing feels quite as "elemental" about them as say Oozes for Green, Skeletons for Black, Flamekin (Elementals) for Red. that said I kind of feel the same way about Gargoyles, but they got some interesting lore goings on.

No reason they couldn't be friends?

>>45639227
Not sure when. Best to keep the MtG: Planeforger title if you do. Unless you guys can wait on OP to fire it up themself.
