You are Sascha, formerly of the Goathorn Tribe, and now a slave and spy of the mighty Stonetusks. You are honored to be able to make your own meager contributions towards the glory of your new masters, which is why you and your party have traveled deep into the Howling Mountains, into the camp of your masters' enemy, Slaagyr.

So far things have gone well, you have been recruited to Slaagyr's forces under the guise of tribeless warriors from the west, by the cragfolk chieftain Snowfox. From what you have seen of the cragfolk forces, they chafe under Slaagyr's leadership, unhappy at their own weakening position within his hierarchy, and the unpleasant company of cannibals, ogres and strange summoned things they are forced to keep.

While this information is no doubt valuable to your masters, you still know very little beyond that and a general estimate of cragfolk numbers. You have no idea of the numbers of the ogres or the cultists, their capabilities or their plans, and you have yet to meet Ludger, the other cragfolk chieftain, or the foreign sorcerer Arban.

You awaken alone in the large, if rather cramped tent set aside for the Snowfox, your companion for the night having slipped out while you slept. Reluctantly, you sweep aside the thick furs covering you, tugging on your leathers quickly against the mountain chill. It's still early morning, at a guess, and it seems you have been left to your own devices.

What now?

The Snowfox's position warrants some degree of privilege it seems, at least in comparison to the ragged dwellings the rest of the cragfolk are using. The tent is well-maintained, and large enough that you would be able to move around in it easily, were it not quite so cluttered. Weaponry, trophies and personal effects lie stacked haphazardly around or tossed into baskets fashioned of goathide and animal bone.

It's a wonder, given all the bladed weapons, arrowheads and the like, that Snowfox manages to sleep in here without injuring herself, or that you did, come to think of it, though you were a little too distracted to notice such things last night. Aside from the many blades, axes and spare arrows littering the tent, whole baskets sit piled high with all manner of strange curios. Glittering jewelry and ornaments of rare stone and metal tossed in alongside the skulls of monsters and ugly fetishes of cracked bone and faded warpaint. Most, you would imagine, were taken from the Snowfox's long war against the ogre forces to the east, though you've never known ogres aside from the ones the masters own to have a taste for finery to explain the size of some of the golden and gemstone encrusted trinkets.

Still, while you're sure the masters would find some things to their taste within this hoard, it's of no use to you right now. Instead, you focus your search on things of more practical value to your investigation. You find something curious at long last, after much searching, taking care to set things back much as you found them. A simple hide pouch, stuffed beneath a pile of furs and a collection of knives. At first as you pull it out of its hiding place, hearing the contents clatter, you mistake it for coins, but tugging the pouch open, you find the contents to be something else altogether. They look to be small medallions, set upon simple lengths of string, and bearing a rough imprint reminiscent of a goat's skull upon their surfaces.

You frown, turning one of the medallions over between your fingers, brushing across a dried spatter of brown upon the tarnished metal's back. Blood? It seems that the former owners of these medallions may not have parted with them willingly.

Look for the other Cragfolk Chief.
>>

>Leave it be
>Go looking for Snowfox

So if I inderstand the implication correctly, Snowfox has been murdering cultists and collecting trophies.
Good information to have, but carrying these around is pretty damn incriminating and unlike Snowfox we don't have the priviliges necessary to tell everyone who pokes around to fuck off without any consequences.

The only gain keeping any of this actually offers is that it gives us potential leveage over her, but unless we have concrete plans to use that leverage, the risk does not justify this course of action at all.

Sounds like Snowfox is up to some "heresy" in here, might be good to ask her about it later.
>>
Moving without Snowfox is kind of foolish.
Her presence gives us way, way more leeway than a new arrival noone knows or has reason to trust would usually get.

Without her, there is very little to suggest we could actually get a meeting with the other Cragfolk Chief and asking all the questions previously proposed could easily be seen as either suspicious or as a sign that we're getting cold feet and thinking of desertion.
Both are obviously hyper bad.

Slaves don't get to pray to the gods.
They are only allowed to worship and serve their master.
Which means the most spiritually meaningful thing she could possibly do is to work towards the task her master gave her.

>>
You slip the medallion into the pouch, stowing it back beneath the furs. No sense drawing attention to yourself quite yet pilfering things from here, especially since despite the chaos of Snowfox's tent, you suspect that those medallions are one thing she would notice the disappearance of.

If you had to guess, you'd say those medallions came from the cultists. While you have thankfully never seen a symbol of Mhoiru before, it would make sense that the Goat of the Mountain's degenerate worshippers would adorn themselves with something like this. The question is why Snowfox has them. You counted twelve medallions in your cursory search, several similarly stained. Were they stolen? Looted from the corpses of the cultists? Is she simply building a collection out of spite, or does she have some ulterior motive for gathering her trophies?

You could go round in circles pondering possibilities all day, but the masters will want something more solid than that. No, it's time for you to go find the Snowfox herself, her presence proving a useful way to travel the camp and gather information without drawing too much suspicion onto yourself.

Stepping outside, you nod to one of your group, several already up with the morning sun, trying to coax what idle chatter they can and ingratiate themselves with the sullen locals. Looks like there's been little progress so far, but at least they don't seem to have turned the cragfolk against them either.

“Seen Snowfox?” you ask, stopping alongside one of your comrades, who looks up from a breakfast of thin soup boiled off of goat bones and mixed with what edible plants grow this deep into the mountains.

“Mmh, saw her heading up there. Need any help?” the woman asks, pausing to bite through a particularly tough slice of root as she gestures up to a larger tent perched on one of the higher flat regions of the camp..

(cont)
>>
>>45599653
“No, no need for that right now,” you reply, shaking your head, best for them to keep doing what they are for now, they aren't far should you need to shout for aid.

You pick your way up the rough hewed steps to the higher platform. This place would be a nightmare to invade directly, no doubt about it, the narrow paths and groaning rope bridges connecting the different sections of the camp would prove impossible to navigate in great numbers with haste. Though at the same time, they would make it equally difficult for the forces staying here to react quickly should they be taken by surprise.

Snowfox's voice reaches you before you've even finished scaling the steps, fighting for dominance with another male voice, deep and sombre. It's hard to make out much of the conversation in detail from here, muffled as it is through the heavy hide of the large tent it eminates from, though you do manage to pick out a few words.

“-second one... bad enough... message... weak... orc...”

Hmm, well this does sound like a conversation you have some interest in, unfortunately as you reach the top of the steps, you find two cragfolk on guard, their idle chatter ceasing as they spot you.

“Sister, something you needed?” one asks, not bothering to rise from his seat atop a flat rock.

>Try to convince them to let you by to see Snowfox

The "Slaves don't get to pray to the gods" thing reminds me, don't divine casters (of the non Ogre Satan variety, at least) pretty much lose all of their powers once broken in as slaves?

I can accept the logic behind it, but it honestly seems kind of a shame that even the most powerful and badass of highpriestesses would still be depowered so hard, she might end up less potent than some witch from the boonies.

Then again, the attention Aleida gets in spite of being a vanilla human we picked up randomly kind of goes to show that it's not necessarily powerlevel or usefulness that is necessary for a character to remain prominent or memorable and even a depowered high priestess would still be more comparable to non-combatant royalty in appeal and archetype than to an actualy vanilla human.
>>
>>45599635
>>45599635
A slave could pray to her own gods, if being a slave in the first place didn't displease them. Ash still gets favour from Ylugri, after all.
>>
>>45599670
>Stay here and speak with them, you can make out some bits of the conversation
>>
>>45599721
Since divine magic comes from a god, divine casters only keep their divine powers if their god doesn't mind their new status as orc slaves, which obviously leaves quite a limited list of gods.
>>
>>45599726

As I said, I get the reasoning, was more looking for confirmation than anything else.

Still bit of a shame though, but, yeah, at that point the character in question has to either retain revelance by being interesting and/or useful in other ways or just fade into the background quicker than most.

With all of that said, how many non-divine skills and stats do divine casters have and have there ever been enslaved priests who have for example dipped into arcane stuff to substitute?
I'm guessing the answers will be "usually not that much" and "not really, because most orcs aren't that free rein with their slaves", but it seems interesting.
>>
>>45599843
>how many non-divine skills and stats do divine casters have and have there ever been enslaved priests who have for example dipped into arcane stuff to substitute?
That depends on the divine caster in question. They're likely to have some skills outside of simply divine casting depending on their religion, and they're no more or less capable of learning arcane magic than anyone else if they invest the time and effort into it.

Most orcs don't bother retraining a captive priestess though, no, they just don't see the point. Whether Ur decides to once he grabs some depowered priestesses on the other hand is entirely up to you.
>>
We don't actually have anything urgent enough to justify barging in and even if we got in, it's questionable whether they'd keep talking about this.

At the very best, we'd get in and look like Snowfox' overly clingy and dependant lay, which is probably not an impression great for getting people to actually trust us with shit.
>>
>>45599922
I was assuming they'd let us through and then we'd listen in on the conversation.
>>45599897
Would you say that most priests would have above average arcane magical talent?
>>
>>45599765
Not most of them, no, but still. Currently we have the coven who are still getting their divine juice, we have Vaki who still has favor from weird fae semi-divinities, we have a dwarf who could theoretically start worshiping that one dwarven goddess, we have a bunch or orcs worshiping a non-orc lizard god... It seems like there are a surprising number of gods that don't mind allegiance to orcs, and even if a slave lost their original gods, they could still probably convert to some kind of worship that would benefit them even if the orcish gods of their masters don't pay them much mind.
>>
>>45599897
Huh.
I seemed to recall a statement along the lines that high divine casting potential usually means a similarly high arcan casting potential, but that there's no real point to crosstraining, because they don't stack.
>>
>>45599938
>>45599947
While priests will generally be people with more of a potential for magic use, they also have to relearn a lot of what they consider to be "the basics" when they switch to arcane magic, so they can have solid potential, but it can still be a long and frustrating process for them to become arcane casters.
>>
>>45599938
That's kind of just asking to be caught.
It's also likely not feasable, if we can hear them outside, because that suggests the tent is a single large room, as tents tend to be.
>>
Writing.
>>
>>45599977
Makes sense.
In retrospect there's probably also to consider that the strongest priests and therefor perhaps the ones most "worth it" would also have to relearn the most before even operating on close to the same tier again, so it really doesn't seem like something we should actually invest resources into.
>>
>>45599977
If a priest loses their gods either by abandoning them or being themselves abandoned, if they convert to a new faith, can they be granted their new god's divine magic? If so, is there as much relearning as would be involved in learning arcane magic, or is there enough commonality between different types of divine magic that it would be easier to learn?
>>
>>45600184
They would maintain their Divine Arcana stat, but would have to learn the divine arcana and spells of their new deity from scratch.
>>
>>45600026
Well should we aquire and break in some priestesses there's no harm in not having them begin arcane training. Even if it does take them a while there's no reason not to put that potential to use.
>>
>>45600245
Alternatively, we could acquire some priests of a god that takes anyone and is compatible with orcish service, and encourage captured priests to convert if they lose their powers, since they won't have to level a new stat.

It's a shame Ylugri only takes ogres, but a t the same time, with only one coven, we only have to have one sacrifice a month.

>>45600231
Do we know enough about the Lizard God to know whether he would accept our slaves' worship?
>>
Do some nature gods actively seek out worship from orcs? Seems like orcs are pretty simple to cater to if a god isn't too picky about violence and nonstop rape.
>>
>>45600245
I'm not sure I'd want to go even that far.
Giving slaves undue freedom is not generally something encouraged by orc culture and having a noticable percentage of your slaves who currently don't actually have useful skills be trained in magic seems a bit much.

I wouldn't disagree with letting a slave who desperately wants to be more useful to us invest effort into this whenever we have no need of her, but actively encouraging this could easily run into issues.

After all, encouraging a bunch of curently completely non-magical slaves to learn magic when we always have a bunch of completely non-magical orcs around send problematic messages.
Even if the simple fact of the matter is that most orcs probably have way less potential than these slaves, that's not really something any orc should be accepting of.

>>45600357
The issue with this is that it'd take them to actually be loyal followers of the god in question and, unless said god is either completely hands off and uncaring (like Ylugri) or completely in favour of its worshippers being sexslaves to superior orcs (like that one Dwarven Goddess), there is going to be theological conflict.

And Ylugri like deities come with an ever increasing sacrifice cost and Dwarf Goddess like deities come with problems of their own, because they are too comfortable with our control mechanisms and tend to drag orcs away from an orcish lifestyle into pure debauchery. A few of them are managable, but not all divine caster slaves.
>>
“I was told Snowfox was up here, but I suppose she's a little busy right now,” you shrug, the other guard, the one still standing, or rather leaning on his spear, giving a snort.

“When Snowfox and Ludger get to arguing, they can keep it up a long time, so if you're planning on waiting, take a seat.”

So the other voice is Ludger then. You've heard a little of him too, a powerful warrior, a few years past his prime perhaps, but still a force to be reckoned with by all accounts.

You hear his voice booming out from within, cutting Snowfox off mid-sentence.

“-his protection... crossing... bad move...”

“Don't recognize you anyhow, you new here?” the one sat on the rock asks, ignoring the voice.

“New and already chasing after Snowfox, the chieftain's moving fast as ever,” the standing one chuckles, the other one joining him in a laugh.

So Snowfox has something of a reputation for chasing after women, does she? Well, you suppose that's hardly a surprise given how she was around you.

“Sascha, I just arrived yesterday, from further west.”

“Ah, well welcome to our happy camp, Sascha. Avoid the ogres, the trolls, the cultists, and just about everything else, and it's not so bad here.”

Snowfox's voice snaps back at the booming voice, the argument continuing within.

“-jumped up ass-faced greenskin... insult... Arban...”

“Sascha's already found herself the warmest bed in the camp, can't do much better than that.”

“Snowfox's going to kick your ass if she hears you saying things like that again.”

“I give it even odds she wants to kick someone's ass anyway when she comes out of there.”

“...not worth it... remember... ritual...”

(cont)
>>
>>45600565
“This is common, is it?” you ask, peering over their shoulders to the tent behind as Ludger's voice booms out once more.

“Very common, don't let it bother you though, they just love to argue,” the standing one shrugs.

“...forget that, I'm going to handle it,” Snowfox shouts back, stalking out of the tent.

She spots you, raising an eyebrow before turning to face the figure stepping out behind her, bending low to step under the tent flap. You'd heard that Ludger cut an impressive figure, but you hadn't expected him to be quite so gigantic, large enough to stand face to face with some of the masters, and only a little shorter than the chieftain himself.

“Silke,” he rumbles, rising up to his full height as he exits the tent, his thick dark brows knotted with irritation.

“Are you calling me that to annoy me, because it's working,” Snowfox snaps, jabbing a finger into his chest as the two guards with you do their best to look like they're paying no attention to the argument whatsoever.

“Snowfox. It's a regrettable loss, but not one worth picking a fight with Arban over.”

“I'm getting tired of 'regrettable losses, Ludger. We keep letting them get away with this, it just makes us look weaker.”

“There will be better battles to fight, very soon.”

Snowfox snarls, spinning on her heels and stalking away, forcing you to step aside as she marches straight past you, Ludger running a massive hand through his beard as he sighs in frustration.

“Is that what passes for guard duty, at least look like you're paying attention,” Ludger frowns, the two guards scrambling to stand at proper attention, as his eyes fix on you.

“You, the new recruit Sascha, correct? Did you need something with me?”

Similar though process as the other guy, but not really wanting the cute girl appraoch, because that seems unlikely to work with someone like this.
It's jsut unnatural for cragfolk to respect cute.

Basically, Snowfox is obviously a bit pissed for talking to right now, so it's easy to justify that whatever we originally came here for we are now planning to put off until she's calmed down.
Instead asking what the hell that was actually about is also rather justifiable, because we are in fact a new arrival and while we might enjoy sleeping with her, it's not unthinkable that we would in fact like to hear what the other notable human leader here has to say.
We can technically claim we're more or less responsible for the other arrivals, so trying to get a full picture of the current situation would be us fulfilling our repsonsibility, which this guy would probably at least somewhat respect, even if he decides we're not to be trusted with details.

“No chieftain,” you reply, shaking your head.

“Then perhaps you can talk her out of doing something stupid,” Ludger grunts, turning and stalking back into the tent, the two guards sagging with relief as he disappears from sight.

Giving them a nod, you start back down the stairs, heading after Snowfox. Fortunately from your vantage point she's easy enough to spot, and you manage to catch up to her just after the bridge, the young cragfolk chieftain turning to give you a sour glare as she hears you approach.

“Something wrong?” you ask, ignoring the glower, which fades quickly enough as Snowfox sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose between thumb and forefinger.

“Aside from a splitting headache and some fucking greenskin thinking he can kidnap our kin? Today started out so well too.”

“Greenskin?”

“Some orc, staying up in Aurora's old place with Arban.”

“I didn't think there were any orcs this far north,” you frown, you are not aware that the masters were sending anyone else here, and as far as Za'ria told you, the only clan in the mountains was hers before they joined the Stonetusks.

“Why would one orc come here?”

“Dunno, he says he had some big fight with the chieftain down there. My guess is that it was less of a fight than he says. Goes by Jug-something. Orc names, huh.”

You nod slowly, you don't recall any such orc, though of course with Za'ria keeping you separate from most of the slaves, you didn't see much of the masters save for the ones she picked out for you to satisfy.

Luckily since this orc had a fight with the masters, this means we don't have to look at her as an ally but instead as an enemy and a hindrance to our mission.

We haven't had any orc contact in a while, and while we do still have our flask-o-jizz, breaking it out now would be super revealing. That in mind, I'm really reluctant to get into proximity with an orc that fought against our masters, since it would really suck to have him subvert our will with his pheromones while we're in our current state.

Not that Juk'ruk's pheromones are likely to be all that powerful, but Sascha wouldn't know that.

Not that Sascha would know, but Zo'rok did say that Juk'ruk was ripped apart by Needlebacks.

How the fuck did he survive that?
My best guess is he played dead and waited till our friend left before killing the animals eating him alive.
>>45601545
Its pretty metal to be eaten alive, but we should tell him to make sure they are dead before leaving.

>Talk her out of it
>Suggest assassination instead, since obviously infighting isn't actually punished over here

We kind of can't ignore this, simply because sooner or later one of our infiltrators might indeed get desperate and just approach him willingly.
Basically, even a single orc on Slaagyr's side puts us on a much, much harsher clock, before things get very risky and worsens the potential consequences by a lot.

At the same time, I'm not at all convinced that with humans being this shit upon the straightforward approach actually gets rid of Juk'ruk in a nearly efficient and quick enough manner before he can cause problems.
Sides, if the humans now also start murdering the others under deniable circumstances, relationships will break down even further, because everyone will kill more, which is just a plus for us.
>>
I'm afraid Snowfox might want to try to assassinate herself, which if what we know is anything to go off of, she won't succeed in because Juk'ruk has become immortal or something like that.
We should instead suggest she call it off, or at least not do it herself, we don't want her to put her at even more danger.>>45601398
>>>Talk her out of it
>>
So am I the only one noticing that a terribly scarred and almost dead orc is fully healed after a few weeks? My guess is that he is chemically/magically/ect enhanced and is far stronger than he used to be, plus he hung out with an evil mad doctor.
>>
>>45601482
I'd like to revoke my vote for the assassination suggestion.
>>45601789
Indeed, assassination is too risky as well, better to lay low and wait for Ur, really.
At most I could see the Wyvern managing to kill him, but that's unlikely.
>>
Okay, talking her out of it wins. I'm seeing some votes for suggesting assassination instead, but can't really tell whether that's a majority or not. So let's put that to a quick vote.

The new guy talking about killing the unrepentent rapist that isn't being punished is not fishy at all.
Especially when it's been made patently clear that noone else here faces any consequences for picking our own people off all the time.

And honestly, this is simply an issue of necessety.
If Juk'ruk isn't dealt with, our spies are at constant risk of breaking and any that do break will be willing to directly tell the enemy about everything we've done.
That's a pretty shit outcome we absolutely need to prevent.

Probably not.
Odds are they are just all scrounging the bottom of the barrel, because we took pretty much all their sources of intel on us away and Slaagyr's other enemies are also all making headway.

Main reason they keep Juk'ruk around is probably that it's at least something and noone except the humans actually cares about the humans or even thinks their mood matters.
Maybe they're also angling for some sort of divided loyalties among the orcs because they believed some of Juk'ruk's blustering.

I hope this manages to talk her out of it, and the assassination was an alternative suggestion for if we didn't succeed in it.
>>
>>45602776
I hope this was talking her into assassinating Juk'ruk without confronting that wizard.
>>
>>45602805
That's a very bad idea though, because Juk'ruk is obviously some unholy abomination now, so she wouldn't be able to kill it anyway.
In fact, it's likely that Ur's bracelet or whatever might be very suited to dealing with him.
>>
>>45602846
A demon possessing a corpse is not quite an undead though....
or is it?
I think we need clarification from Lordy on this.
>>
>>45602922
He might be himself, otherwise why would he call himself by the same name?
>>
>>45602922
No, a demon possessing a corpse is not an undead, undead suggests something created from fusing a corpse with a spirit from the Cronelands.
>>
>>45602846
Complete and utter fearmongering.
Fantasy land scale natural healing or even just magically assissted healing is way, way, way more likely than "Juk'ruk is now a supreme ultra murder machine that no mortal can every hope to strike down!"

Juk'ruk is honestly just kind of meh.
And while the people we are infiltrating are kind of pathetic, we are actually talking with the fucking Snowfox, who's a pretty badass hero unit.
Assuming she can't put together a group capable of shiving even a moderately souped up Juk'ruk is kind of silly, especially since turning Juk'ruk into an actual Juggernaut that doesn't have obvious mutations and deformations as a consequence of rampant mad sciencing would be seriously high scale magic.
>>
>>45602985

That means someone helped him, and he shouldn't have been able to reach here in the state Zo'rok left him in

“Perhaps that would not be the best move.”

“Oh good, another one who thinks we should just lie down and let Slaagyr's other lieutenants walk all over us,” Snowfox sighs, turning away, stopping as you place a hand on her shoulder.

“I didn't mean it that way,” you frown, turning the taller woman back to you, letting your arms slip around her waist.

“Why not take a more subtle approach. The orc can die without everyone knowing who did it,” you whisper, leaning in close.

There's a long pause, Snowfox's body rigid against yours, before you feel the tension leaving her, her hands against your shoulder, pushing you back enough to lean down and press her lips to yours.

“Not a bad idea. I could sneak in there myself, though who knows what magical goatshit the sorcerer's got going on. Maybe lure the orc out, plenty of quiet places he could go missing,” Snowfox mutters, resting her chin atop your head.

You listen in silence as she contemplates, feeling the dull ache that the intimacy you've shared with the cragfolk woman brings to your body. Last night was a pleasant distraction, Snowfox's touch far more skilled than the clumsy groping you shared with the other slaves under Za'ria's direction, but it was not the masters, and once the glow had faded, all it left behind was the yearning once again, stronger than ever.

“Sascha?”

You blink, staring into Snowfox's eyes, your chin held between thumb and forefinger as she smirks down at you.

“Looks like you were miles away.”

“Sorry, just... thinking. There's been a lot to take in this past two days.”

“No joke there,” Snowfox chuckles, slipping an arm around your waist as she leads you back towards the camp.

“Well, no need for you to worry about it. I'll deal with that mangle-faced orc, you just take it easy.”

“I know, I know. I'm fine, just lost my cool a little there. This place just makes me so claustrophobic these days,” Snowfox smirks, as the two of you arrive back at the main camp, her arm still lingering around your waist.

The camp seems to have fully awakened now, or at least come as close to fully awakened as it ever does, a handful of warriors sparring in the open area at the middle of the camp.

“So since today's off to a fun start, I'm going to be pretty busy. You need anything before I go do my chieftainly duties?”

Looks like if you have anything to discuss with Snowfox today, now is the time to do so.

we are weakening the integrity of Slagyyr's humans' defences, and if Sasha can manage to build up infighting to the extent that some of Slagyyr's lieutenants will be dead before the orcs even arrive, then that's just better.
Remember, for every 10-15 dead dragon-slave or goat cultist, we could save an orc that might otherwise die in the assault.
>>
Damn, I'm literally falling asleep over here.

“Some idea of what to do with my time would be a good start, and the rest of my group,” you reply, shrugging.

“Eager, are you? Plenty that needs doing around here, you can spar with the warriors, help out around camp, go out hunting, whatever you want really. We need food, we've got plenty of equipment in need of some repairs, and some of those bridges could do with fixing up too.”

“Will do,” you nod, Snowfox grinning as she slips from your side, planting a kiss on your forehead as she steps back.

“Great, you stay out of trouble okay? Gods know I've got enough to stress me out today as it is without fretting about that.”

“You don't have to worry about that. Oh, and should I go to your tent when the time comes to sleep tonight?”

“I think I'd like that, yes. Just go on in if I'm not back by then, feels like today's going to be a long one,” Snowfox smiles, giving you a wink before she turns and walks away, calling out to one the warriors nearby, waving him over to talk.

Leaving her to her business, you turn and head into the camp, chatting with both the locals and your group both, spending the morning integrating yourselves further into Slaagyr's forces as you work. It's strangely nostalgic, in a way, stitching leathers, sharpening spears, though the raucous chatter and song that often accompanied such things in your own tribe is absent in the sullen silence of the cragfolk here.

(cont)
>>
>>45604899
Given the already oppressive atmosphere, it's unnerving how abruptly the mood drops yet further some hours later, as you finish up stitching the sleeve of a tunic. The cragfolk around you going from occasional muttered conversation to utter silence, eyes drifting to the stone as a bony hand comes to rest on your shoulder, fingers long and spindly.

“You must be the new arrival, Sascha,” a thin voice whispers, the hand trembling as it's removed, leaving behind only the creeping, intrusive sensation of its presence.

You look around, a man stood behind you, small and emaciated, giving you a cold smile from cracked lips, flecks of died blood still clinging to the flecks of dead skin, his eyes jaundiced and bloodshot around flat, soulless pupils.

You don't need to be told who this man is, the stink of carrion, the prickling in your spine gives it all away as you rise to your feet. You stand a head over the man who hunches before you, his skeletal limbs shuddering with spasmodic tremors, his sickly frame draped in rancid furs and goathide, countless jangling charms and fetishes fashioned of bone, iron and stitched leathers hanging from his neck. You are taller, stronger, younger and healthier, and yet you've never felt yourself so acutely in the presence of a predator, a thing which would devour you, your heart twisting in your chest as you dig your toes down into the soles of your shoes just to keep yourself from running.

Joachim.

“I am so glad we finally had this opportunity to meet in person.”

Ur: Jareth wouldn't care for him at all, considering that Jareth's whole thing is pleasure and freedom, and OWQ orcs in general kind of trample all over that with their addictive jizz and slavetaking.

Sief: Jareth would like him well enough, but would probably find him a little frustrating with how serious he was, and be trying very hard to get Sief to lighten up.

Sam: Jareth would probably find Sam's attitude a little grating, but he would appreciate Sam's rather more hidden nicer side, and his desire to dick his hot relatives.

Joachim's not just going to eat her right there in the middle of the camp surrounded by all the non-cultist Cragfolk, he's not a moron and he knows how that would end up for him.
