Against all reasoning of known physics your Eyegore watches a massive stormcloud form within the void of space. Dark clouds billow and roil, lightning flashing within.

Your scout watches from beyond the edge of the Ahkam controlled system as the cloudbank disperses when a fleet of ships emerge. A pair of battlecruisers drifts over one of the controlled planets with a swarm of sub-capitols surrounding it. The stormcloud breaks as the Ahkam bursts forth, twisting and slithering through the void with arcs of lightning kilometer long stretching from its body to nearby craft.

Gossamer scales glint in the star light as the wings spaced along it's serpentine body stretch then propel the beast with powerful strokes. The Ahkam circles in the upper atmosphere of the planet the juvenile had taken refuge as communications go silent through the system before a powerful voice crashes over the airwaves on all channels.

"The Osjiic curs have made a grave mistake! They have taken one of my children, the Child of your God and for that they will suffer! For too long lave we suffered their interference and audacity! They even dare to strike here at my favored daughter, your Demi-God! You, children of the Ahkam, must be diligent! Our vengeance will be swift and terrible and the Osjiic will burn from my fury and rage!"

The voice barely finishes before the airwaves are a sudden cacophony that makes the Eyegore flinch as the denizens of two worlds and the fleets shout their warcrys. Across the two populated worlds sub-light craft rise from the surface in dark swarms that buzz around the fleet.

The Ahkam were upset.

Completed Research:
>Necrotic Vats: Large metal vats once containing necrotic fluid and the subject of the Confederates necrotic research at the behest of the mysterious Blackscale lizard. The vats were disturbingly similar to your Cauldrons, using necrotic infused fluids to break down metallic ore and fuse it to organic bone. Originally the Confederate cyborgs appeared to be crafted by weaving strands of metal across the organic bone but this would allow them to complete the process much faster.

>Boarding Pod: A proposed idea for quickly inserting troops into other ships during combat rather than relying on boarding ships or space-walks.

>Boarding Claws: Another boarding technology idea for aiding in ship-to-ship combat

>Ion Pulse Charges: A proposed idea to develop the Ion Weapon technology towards creating grenades and mines.

Unlocked:
Cauldron Upgrade: By reconfiguring your Cauldrons you have increased their efficiency and speed at creating new units along with a marked increase at modifying and repairing existing Reconstructed. Cauldrons now have two levels. The first is the typical large cauldron full of necrotically infused fluid and biomass. A drain at the bottom of the Cauldron allows the fluid to flow down pipes into specially made chambers of glass. These fill up with the Cauldron fluid and a Reconstructed is formed quickly within. An existing Reconstructed can enter an empty chamber and be submerged with the liquid allowing quick modification and equipping gear or to rapidly repair injured units.

Boarding Pod: A ship modification that replaces fixed gun placements with tubes that launches pods densely packed with troops at an enemy ship. Designed with moderate thrusters to allow it to track and aim for a ship in it's path it also has a series of claws that latch down onto a hull. A thermal drillbit at the front of the boarding pod pierces the hull before a shaped charge ejects the drill bit allowing reconstructed to board. Can carry 8 troops or a single Devouring Swarm. Cost: Replaces 1 Fixed Weapon placement on a sub-capitol or capitol ship, 15M per pod fired

Boarding Claws: An adaptation for Small Craft adds four powerful crustacean-like limbs that unfold from the bottom of a craft to latch onto an enemy ship or large enough structure. Each limb ends with a powerful pincer that allows it to cling to a hull or even possibly tear open a breach. This allows for venting of hulls to eliminate crew or to allow a boarding ship to unload their cargo directly. Cost: 10B

Ion Pulse Charges: Ion grenades and mines can now be produced. By creating a pulse of ionic energy these devices can disable or destroy sensitive electronic systems and damage cyborg and mechanized targets.

Red-Leaf-Strains and her people continue their journey, nearing the colony with each passing day despite the snows making their passage rough. Their Gargoyle guide leading them to a pile of fruit and kelp but their relief is less than expected, the tribe mourning the death of the elder the day prior. They eat in silence as they continue their journey, the plainsrunners trudging through the deepening snow.

The ructu you controlled gather together in their burrows and they place their hands on the dreamstone. They plead, begging for your help. Their people were slowly starving with the kelp only prolonging the pain. The Ahkam soldiers had cleared out their larders and they had only scant days to gather food for the storm season. The Kelp vats had yet to be upgraded with the eels though even if you were they would still be suffering until the eels were given enough time to breed.

To your surprise you receive a message from the Armatocere satellite-flower. Sllyrt sending a warning about how the Osjiic and Ahkam seemed to be growing restless in nearby systems. They report that they had encountered an Osjiic fleet but managed to avoid a confrontation saying the Osjiic seemed distracted and only send a message inquiring about information on a last fleet. You were surprised that the Osjiic refused to attack the floral faction though you thank them for the message.

The Ahkam gather a larger fleet around the beast before the two battle cruiser split apart carrying with them sizable portions of their fleets comprised mainly of sub-capitols and the sub-light craft of the system natives. A pair of stormclouds spread out from the capitol ships, engulfing their respective fleets in darkness and lightning strikes. There were a series of flashes and the storms dissipate, revealing the two forces left the system. This left the twisting Ahkam and a collection of sub-capitols behind.

There was much to do before your systems were under threat. How shall you proceed?

Build 50 Advanced AA turrets around any sight we hold. Build 300 aquatic Gargoyles and have them fish for the Ructu.

Right, let's deal with the starving ructu first. Contact the armotocere for a massive supply of food, large enough to feed the planet until the storm breaks, and make it clear we will pay for it fairly. This way we knock off two diplomatic birds with one stone. Once we have the food, have obelisks with integrated dream stones in every major ructu settlement on their world, so we can keep an eye over them and generally make it seem like we're trying to care for their needs.

Across your various controlled worlds in both the Horizon's Drop and Bastion systems anti-air networks are created and expanded. The guns hide disguised as rocks and boulders but ready to emerge and unleash their barrages against any ship daring to enter the atmosphere of their defended worlds.

>6 Anti-Air Networks crafted

Your image appears before the Ructu skeletal and translucent. They bow their heads at your image before pleading their cause. You listen silently before nodding your head and telling them they will be provided for.

On the Lavafathers moon your Excavators and Diggers were consuming for it's metal ore large black stones are quarried and carved. Talons work at carving the slabs of black stone into monolith obelisks carved with the runes of the dreamstone and sigils proclaiming the might of the Necrotic Armada.

As the storms rages across the continent of islands and archipelagos Coffins descend to the villages and connect to partially buried vats. Fully grown eels and egg-cases brought from Horizon's Drop are transferred to the tanks and the creatures are quick to adapt to their new location. The ructu emerge during a lull in the storms and are amazed at the sudden addition to their vats, quickly fishing out all but the smallest of eels. They hardly seemed to mind the large stone obelisks standing where once Ahkam shrines and idols had.

Your Eyegore sends a message to the Armatocere satellite with the request to trade for a large shipment of food. You explain the Ahkam taking advantage of a primitive civilization leaving them without food and starving. The response is nearly immediate saying they will send another, larger shipment to the system for transport. They continue to say they will debate a proper trade though raw metal ore will likely be the request.

As Red-Leaf-Strains guides her herd around a bend in the mountain path there was a gasp from the young osogo standing by her side. Glancing up the herd elder freezes in place halting their progress as they stare at Jor waiting for them. He stands from his stop in the Chariot idling with it's Pilot glancing at the plainsrunners curiously.

His helm slides back with a snap and he smiles but the large creatures flinch when he approaches so he halts. Behind him the path was suspiciously clear of snow yet melted water pooled in puddles along the way. Further on a pair of chariots continue to clear the path with a shovel attached to their noses and necrotic flayers pulsing on their lowest setting to melt the snow banks.

Your human diplomat lifts his empty hands to show them he meant no harm. Your ethereal image next to the human resting a boney hand on his shoulder, a grasp he clearly could not sense. Jor smiles, hoping the gesture was reassuring instead of a threat display like some of the aliens he'd heard of and encountered, "I have been sent by Lich-Lord Jadyk to assist you, Red-Leaf-Strains."

The old matron of the herd bleats out in surprise at being able to understand the humans words but her herd looks at her in startled curiosity. They did not hold the Dreamstone so could not understand his words. The matriarch shakes her head, mane of wiry hair rustling, "Why has he sent you? You are too late to save Skips-Stones," she says in an accusatory tone almost glaring at Jor.

Your words whisper into Jor's mind and he nods before looking to Red-Leaf-Strains. The plainsrunner osogo was nearly twice his height but he felt no fear, only a sense of duty to serve you. Clearing his throat he stands with hands clasped behind his back, "Death is not the end, merely the beginning of a new existence. Skips-Stones will become a part of the land and bring in new life in time. There is no escaping death but it does not have to be the end of your journeys. Skips-Stones is dead, yes, but that does not mean they are gone forever, but rather entering a realm of enlightenment," he says confidently.

Red-Leaf-Strains shuffles uncertainly at this strange human speaking to her, "Jadyk said he would help us," she says almost uncertainly. The pilgrimage had been tough of them so far.

Jor nods his head, "And he has," he points a finger at the Gargoyle perched nearby watching them, "He's guided you. His people have fed and clothed you. He's given you knowledge and inspired your people to search for more than what you had. He has sent me to help you and answer your questions."

The matron turns to look at her sisters for support then looks back to Jor, "What do you mean about death not being the end? Our bodies fall and do not rise. Yes our bodies feed the ground and the plants but that's all there is," she says with uncertainty.

"The dead can be reborn and reconstructed into new forms, a new "life" to live under Jadyk. Red-Leaf-Strains, my master sees great potential in you and your people. His only wish is to give you the chance at greatness and the choice," Jor says

She tilts her head, "A choice?"

>cont
>>
>>45409843
"Yes. A choice between returning to your migrations and normal way of life. You will not be interfered with or harmed should you decide to. But continue on your journey, reach the colony and Lord Jadyk and your people will be welcomed openly. Your herd will have access to knowledge and comfort none of your kind has experienced before," the human points to the distant mountain peaks where the skeleton of your city can be seen glinting in the sunlight, "A grand city is being built for those who would follow Lord Jadyk. All will be welcome under the protection of the Worm and his Reconstructed. To reach paradise, we must crawl through pain and suffer what the universe throws at us. Yes, some will not make the journey but death is only a temporary hindrance for those that follow the Worm.

The choice to decide whether or not your people will continue as they always had before or accept Jadyk's offer and know that death does not have to be the true end. This choice is yours. Speak with your herd and decide."

Jor steps back to wait by the Chariot as Red-Leaf-Strains turns to converse with her sisters and the herd. There were confused voices and a few angry accusations but slowly they make their choice.

Finally the three alphas of the Plainsrunners approach Jor who looks up at them expectantly. Red-Leaf-Strains bows her head, the dreamstone clutched in her grasp, "We will continue our journey. We have come so far and our people do not wish for Skips-Stones sacrifice to be in vain. The young ones, despite the hardships, they are eager and excited to meet your people and Lord Jadyk. Very well, we have made our choice," she says, her voice growing more determined.

Jor steps up onto the Chariot to look over the herd, the Pilot giving him a look for scuffing the clean bone with his muddy boots. The human looks to Red-Leaf-Strains then, "We will show you the path. Yet it is a path you must walk on your own. I will not say the path will be safe or easy but you will not be alone," A wing of nails flies past overhead and another Gargoyle flaps to slow its descent landing on a nearby boulder, "This is your pilgrimage, brave Osogo. Be strong and dedicated and you shall reach your destination. And remember, Death is but a temporary hindrance for those in the service of the Worm."

Bowing her head along with her sisters Red-Leaf-Strains runs a hand across the warm Dreamstone, "I, uh, thank you. We still mourn our lost but I want to believe you and Jadyk. I can only hope this journey is worth it."

Jor smiles as he seats himself in the Chariot, his helm sliding closed, "I know it will be. I once believed that Jadyk's arrival was the worst thing to happen in my life but now...Now I realize that serving his dream to be the best thing to have ever happened to me," he motions to the Pilot and the hovercraft lifts up from the muddy ground before racing away.

The pair of Gargoyles lift off, circling and flying over the heads of the herd. The Plainsrunners speak among themselves as they resume their journey, eyes drawn to the growing city on the horizon and ships circling it with supplies.
>>
>>45409509
Red-Leaf-Strains is the "alpha" of the herd alongside her two sisters. The dead osogo, Skips-Stones, was just an old plainsrunner who died of infection, exposure and just plain old age trying to do something they just couldn't anymore.

Your Eyegore still was not sure how to watch for an Armatocere ship exiting their FTL but they manage to catch a small speck quickly snapping from a spaghettified form into a full form of one of their capitol sized ships. Once again you are surprised by the armament of the large craft but they remain dormant as a message is sent.

Sapling Sllrt's synthetic voice speaks out as the Bloat Carrier you had sent moves towards the craft to collect the first of the cargo seed-pods the treeship released, "Here is the shipment you requested, more of the same. It is...pleasing to see a faction concerned with the suffering of primitive life-forms. In this galaxy it seemed that most would take advantage of the weak and unadvanced."

The eyegore transmits your message thanking them for the compliment but Sllrt replies once quickly, "As to our trade. We have decide what to ask in return. Your ore was remarkably pure despite traces of Necrotic energy that was easily purged. The samples and research notes you provide were also quite interesting. Contact us again and we may have more knowledge to exchange."

The former Confederate research facility was well under way to being repaired and turned into a proper outpost for the Necrolytes that had claimed it for their own.

Power had been restored, the doors sealed and the landing platform reinforced along with a simple lift replacing the elevator for the time being. Heating was repaired and the rooms thawed leaving nearly everything a soggy mess to be hauled out and disposed of in orbit. Shipboard Cauldrons producing everything the soldiers would need to repair their base.

There were several flashes in the sky near the Cruiser in orbit and the Voidsinger looks at his screen in surprise to see the presence of two Void Terrors next to a Bloat carrier with supplies and reinforcements from the new stonestar necrolyte legionnaires.

Lorgul and one of his Disciples meets the Voidsinger in the main control room where technicians halt their work on integrating necrotic systems with the bases to kneel in the presence of one of the Generals of their new Master.

The Voidknight chuckles and waves a hand bidding them to rise, the workers returning to their work. He turns to regard the Voidsinger standing with his lieutenants the kesh sniper, the one-armed human and the osjiic shieldbearer equipped in their new armors and weaponry since their promotion. The Voidsinger bows his head in greeting, "Welcome to the first outpost claimed by the Necrolyte Legion, Revenant Lorgul. To what do we owe the honor of your presence."

Lorgul rolls his shoulders, bones popping audibly as voidflames lick from his armor, "I grew bored in Horizon's Drop. Only so often you can infuse bone with the Void or spar with my Disciples," he glances at the stoic skeleton standing at his side, "Not that they aren't benefiting from the training but still."

Alright Joyti, I'm going through things and I'm thinking that going through the threads (as I've been doing) isn't going to be helpful. You seem to have recorded most things in the pastebins, so I'll just try making a tech list based upon your pastebins, but without the descriptions.

I say this because it seems like we really don't need to know the research topics so much as what was granted by those topics.

The one-armed woman leans over to whisper something to the Osjiic who has to stifle a chuckle and elbows the human. The Voidsinger glares over his shoulder at them but turns back to Lorgul when the undead laughs, "Yes I know you cleared this place out already. I watched as it happened," the two grimace, not realizing the armored skeleton had such good hearing, "I was decently impressed. Estkri and Krotur would've been proud."

The mention of their former commanders, now the other members of your inner circle, makes a flare of regret and dull anger rise up through the soldiers in the room but they keep themselves calm. The reaction was less than what Lorgul had expected and that pleases him. He looks to the Voidsinger, "I bring you new soldiers. A contingent of Stonestars have decided they want to become Necrolytes. And don't think I'm just here playing escort. I have a plan. Gather your troops for inspection," he says as he turns and marches toward the exit.

The Voidsinger looks to the Disciple with a confused expression and the undead shakes their head, their voice rough from lack of use, "You will see."

The Legionnaires currently on world are made to line up on the emptied landing platform in ranks. The two void-powered undead walk slowly among the living. They would move to each soldier and inspect them, looking them over in silence before moving on.

They continued on for some time before Lorgul points to a Netu. They move to stand with the Voidsinger in confusion. A human was selected and then a vorh along with a pair of newly arrived stonestars.

It's really easy to make pastebins with descriptions attached though, you can just copy and paste straight from the post itself, which is how I made that tech pastebin for HQQ. I was planning on doing the same for this quest sometime this week, actually, but sounds like you got this.
>>
>>45413283
Thats the thing, I was going through the threads, got to the 5th one, and realized that I'm having difficulty finding things that aren't actually in the pastebins already.

So, I'm thinking it may just be better to create a list of all our techs for easy review, with the actual details being available in other pastebins.

The five wait standing shoulder to radial body core to shoulder as Lorgul and his Disciple stand before them. The Voidknight claps his hands together and rubs his palms together, "A surprisingly good crop," he turns his gaze to the Voidsinger, "If you would allow it I will take these five. They have the potential to become like us.

They are Void-touched and with my guidance and power they will sing the fires of the Void. Give them to me and your Legion will be that much stronger. I will give them the power of the Void and in time and their death they shall become Voidknights," he says to the five Necrolytes then looks to the Voidsinger, "This was to be your fate but Jadyk says your potential is great. The Voidknight Order would be all the more greater with you but I will take this five in your place. Will you allow this?"

The Voidsinger is silent for several long moments as the five selected soldiers experience fear and excitement in various degrees. Finally they nod, "Show them the fury of the Void. The Necrolyte Legion will wield this power and prove ourselves worthy of these gifts."

He kneels and the motion is mimicked by the assembled legionnaires and his words echoed, "Hail the New Necrotic Armada! Hail the Conquering Worm and the Voidknight Order!"

Lorgul could feel whatever fear the Legionnaires had felt within themselves burned away and that pleased him immensely.

Within the dangerous research lab deep in the Scorched Planet your Think Tanks debate amongs themselves. They knew that Void energies could manipulate gravitational fields to produce powerful singularities and potential gravity wells. This fact combined with the Skip Drives reliance on using preexisting gravity wells they believed they could make a unique form of FTL travel.

They contact you and ask permission to add it to their ever-growing list of projects. You allow it and the previous request from a separate Think Tank for research into creating larger forms of Reconstructed.

The Bloat carrier with the traded seedpods appears in the Bastion system above Rukor and a flight of Coffins meet it. The cargo of fruit and food is transferred to the small craft and the descend on the planet bearing their gifts for the ructu. Distributing the cargo pods the ructu emerge from their burrows to watch as Stingers crack them open and begin transporting the food toward the frightened natives. Several tried to intimidate the reconstructed with spears but the undead ignored them as much as the pouring rains and deposited piles of fruit at the entrances of the burrows. Gradually they Ructu began to ferry the food inside and distribute it among the hungry with the ructu who knew of you spreading the fact it was your generosity that brought them the much-needed relief.

Another Bloat Carrier appears within the system the armatocere ship drifted. Releasing it's cargo of processed ore with an extra three-hundred units more than they had requested the armatocere craft latches onto the crates with an invisible beam and drags them to the ship with vines lashing it to its side. Man, the Necrolyte soldiers must be so confused as to their new loyalties.

On one hand, Jadyk enslaved them and put them into an army, but on the other he doesn't sacrifice their lives needlessly and supports them en masse with ludicrous amounts of extremely potent weaponry and reconstructed soldiers.

Eyegores watch across multiple systems, their clustered eyes twitching and dilating as they watch events set into motion by your hand unfold.

A storm appears in the orbit of the Osjiic factory work of the nearby binary star system. Ahkam fighters and sub-capitols race from the dark clouds unleashing a furious volley of fire against the Osjiic picket fleet. One of the battlecruisers you had watched lead the sub-fleet emerges from the cloud with it's prow angled towards the surface of the planet and the densely packed factories on the desert world.

The battlecruiser was a ship of kosda design, all barbs and scales, the capitol unleashing it's hull mounted weaponry to unleash hell against the infrastructure on the ground. Kinetic rounds glowing bright from reentry strike with the force of atomic weaponry against the factories as the Osjiic and Ahkam ships tear each other apart.

The eyegore satellite in orbit among the space junk of the planet watches hillsides suddenly unfold, massive barrels lifting to the sky. Bright beams of powerful energy cut through the atmosphere and slice into Ahkam ships. Frigates and corvettes cut clean in two and long gouges sliced in the hulls of cruisers and the Battlecruiser.

Your Eyegore watches and is nearly blinded as the investigatory fleet sent after Sub-Admiral Estrki emerges to join the ships already present in orbit around the forested world you'd attacked with your decoy Ahkam. The massive shape of the Osjiic Battleship blots a dark shadow on the surface of the world as it drifts surrounded by a a large fleet of sub-capitols and along with a Destroyer and Battlecruiser.

A light cruiser descends to the planet and construction vehicles emerge to help with repairs and speeding up the construction of their fortress. The fleet does not appear to be staying long, their ships idling as they tend to the salvage and repairs.

There was much to be done and prepare for. What shall you tend to first?

Not only to allow us to keep an eye on the Osijic, but the Confederacy is the only major faction in the galaxy that isn't necessarily going to stake everything on destroying us once we reveal ourselves. We could set up a trading relationship with them in the future (i.e. smuggle shiploads of narcotikelp into their borders) so this is a convenient first step towards that. While I'm not sure where we should place the ambush, most places that we don't occupy are occupied by someone else, I really don't think what you are suggesting will work. We're dealing with spacefaring civs, they can see whats going on throughout the system.

>>45415140
Can we get a list from our think tanks of prospective places for the ambush, and what might be the most likely place for the Osijic to stumble upon?
>>
>>45415274
The Binary star system that the Ahkam are attacking now or the one you attacked previously and now has the investigatory fleet in it?

>>45415308
You ask the Think Tanks their ideas and they reply

<Ask again later>

You ask the Voidsinger and the Necrolyte Legion however and they suggest attaching fighters to the hull of your Osjiic ships and use them to transport to the desired system. It was a tactic they had seen the Ahkam use before. Captured ships would appear wounded in a system carrying hidden kamikaze fighters or rigged to detonate when salvage crews arrived. Similar tactics where why the Dagger preferred to detonate captured craft rather than rescue.
>>
>>45415361
Awesome, glad I asked. Lets do that, to the system that has the investigatory fleet in it, then perhaps after a blow is struck, mention something about how the system the Akham is attacking right now will fall.

In regards to the Armotocere we should offer a tech trade. In addition to the fine list of tech we now master here http://pastebin.com/XdvnC33n, I'd also like to offer my own list I hastily put together.

The first one was good, but I tried to include the effects of research we completed into other technologies here, instead of what we created with said knowledge. I also tried to keep out tech we know our plant like friends already have, like missile construction and alien fauna we already described to them. Hope it helps some.

Your Osjiic frigates rise up from their docks on the moon with shields lowered. The Ahkam fighters spin up their weapons and lash the sides of the crewless ship, even launching several of missiles at non-vital areas. With the craft suffeciently battle-scarred the fighters dock to the sides of the ships as coffins deposit Crit Crawls into the frigates.

>How many Crit Crawls?

Void Drives power up and a bubble of distorted light appears around each craft before they disappear rapidly into the cosmic distance for a pair of twinkling stars.

>5 Kamikaze Osjiic Frigates

You send a message through the Eyegore to the Armatocere satellite and several minutes later Sapling Sllrt answers with their usual synthetic yet optimistic voice. They ask how the food shipment was and you say the natives were enjoying their aid as you speak.

With the pleasantries out of the way you sent a list of potential research trade saying you were willing to discuss the talks about trade. Sllrt replies shortly saying the list will be examined and a counteroffer proposed.

The Armatocere seemed ready to go to radio silence once more when you interject, "Actually there was something I wish to speak with you about," your message sent to the plant based satellite and a short reply in affirmative before you continue, "You spoke of coming into conflict with the Ahkam and Osjiic. I could use some advice if you have any. How did the battles go on between your forces and have you ever seen or heard one of the Ahkam themselves being slain or defeated?"

The line is silent for a few minutes before Sllrt replies, "Osjiic are a constant foe. They want our systems and are quite determined. They rely on heavy armor for their ships but that slows them down. Shields are moderately strong and their weaponry relies mostly on ballistic projectiles and missiles. They also posses the capability of controlling Void energies for combat. We've encountered units they classify as Voidsingers and they have managed to vex our warships greatly."

"That is quite a feat, your warships are rather daunting," you compliment and Sllrt pauses for it's synthetic laugh

"Unless you are spying on us I don't believe you have seen our warships. The ship we used to meet you was a civilian cargo transport," they say, leaving you unsure of how to reply. Their so-called civilian cargo transport was half-way the size between a Destroyer and Battlecruiser, with the ships in their other system among some of the largest ships you've seen.

"As for the Ahkam. They are zealots and willing to throw their lives away for the whims of their "gods". A regrettable species to inspire so many others to work together for a common goal. The Ahkam serpents believe the faith and worship of their followers strengthens them though we have insufficient data to verify their claims. From what we've gathered is the Ahkam are matriarchal and split up into several Families with a fully matured female Ahkam at the head with their mates (smaller green scaled serpents) and children forming the chain of command.

Their fleets are a motley collection, ships of various sizes made by various different worlds and factories. It's somewhat maddening really but what to you expect of creatures who do not create themselves but rather subjugate and threaten?" They ask with a monotone laugh that crackles with faint static

"We have not seen an adult Ahkam slain except for rumors of a stone ship and the skeleton of an Ahkam crucified on it's hulls. The children and mates can be slain but never easily though we've only had to do some once," it pauses and takes your silence for it to continue, "Some of their ships rely solely on projectiles while others only have missiles or beam weaponry. The strongest of their ships have lightning cannons able to strike almost as hard as the Ahkam themselves.

An Ahkam fleet once tried to enslave us during the early days after our fleet sprouted from the Seedship Yggdrasil. An adult Ahkam attacked with a trio of her children trying to cow my predecessors into servitude but the Seedship was not defenseless. Two of the children Ahkam were slain and the mother gravelly injured before they fled. They have avoided us since."

"Your Seedship sounds quite formidable. I must remember to stay on your good side," you say with a small laugh though the humor was hollow as your eyesockets.

You thank the Armatocere for their insight and ask if they have made a decision of what to ask for. They say they have and are deciding what they believe would be an acceptable trade. After some time a message arrives and they lay out several choices along with their trade:

Armatocere requesting:
>Crude Camoflage
>Conductive Armor
>Harvester Beam
>Metal-Sheathed Bones

They are offering:
>Reinforced Shielding - An enhanced form of shields adds a second layer of shields meaning they can sustain twice as much damage before failing

>>
>>45416566
After agreeing to the trade the information is transferred and your Think Tanks quickly read through the data. You exchange thanks with the Armatocere before the communications line goes silent.

Unlocked:
Reinforced Shielding - An enhanced form of shields adds a second layer of shields meaning they can sustain twice as much damage before failing. When both shields are up it offers a slight defense against electrical and ion attacks. Cost: 40B 40M

Tractor Beams - A beam of invisible energy using Void and Magnetic properties capable of pulling objects floating in the void of space towards the ship. Useful for construction, salvage and mining operations its power does not have the strength to cause harm to a ship or stop one in motion. The Tractor Beam will ease construction and mining operations.

Advanced Agricultural Techniques - A variety of farming techniques and tips it reads more like a textbook detailing various ways to get the most out of various kinds of farms. It included large field crop techniques, hydroponic set-ups, "ubercompost", a list of artificial lighting requirements for various plant species. It even included details for improving the yield of both the Kelp and Diver Seagrass likely from the samples you had provided to them. Overall this will increase your plant, fungal-lichen, and crop yields.

Your discussion and trade with the Armatocere had taken longer than you had suspected it would and you receive an alert from your Eyegore watching the investigatory fleet.

Appearing in the shadow of the jovian planet your Osjiic and Ahkam decoys drop out of FTL hopefully out of sight of the Osjiic. Yet it seems to no avail as the Battlecruiser breaks away from its orbit and travels with a wing of sub-capitols towards the gas giant.

Stealth broken the Osjiic decoys begin to transmit the standard distress call for the imperials as the Ahkam fighters separate and drift into the large rings of ice and rock below the scattered frigates.

It takes nearly half an hour for them to arrive, void distorted light wavering for several kilometers behind their powerful engines. Fighters approach first as the synthetically crafted voice of an Osjiic calls across the radio saying they had just escaped a surprise attack in a nearby system.

Fighters circle the craft at a distance well out of range of any detonations, sub-capitols creeping closer as the Battlecruiser keeps a safe distance with it's weapons aimed at the decoy ships. Your decoy replies to a hail from the battlecruiser asking for their rank and commander and the fake Osjiic manages to quickly shout out that they came from the factory system and that they were under heavy bombardment from the Ahkam before the synthesized voice lets out a shout of pain with the sound of a gunshot.

Your decoy fighters power up and release from grasping the debris of the jovian worlds ring. They race forth lifting from the rock and ice filling the void with burning metal and streaking missiles. Voices of overzealous Ahkam warriors ring through the airwaves, proclaiming the might and fury of the Ahkam. They cut through the unlucky osjiic fighters before weapons fire is turned upon them and the overwhelming barrage wipes out a decent portion in seconds.

>cont
>>
>>45416960
Your frigates have enough time to aim their weapons at the surrounding ships and unleash the full force of their weapons as they lurch forward suddenly before they were hit hard by returning fire. Two explode right away from the unshielded strikes but your ships manage to shatter the hulls of a light cruiser and a frigate.

Another frigate is smashed to pieces by ferrous slugs the size of a fighter craft glowing with void-infused energy from the Battlecruisers main guns. The decoys turn their surviving numbers and remaining weapons against the large ship filling space with enough metal to forge several Coffins.

The powerful shields of the Battlecruiser flicker under the barrage with weapons fire leaking through the gaps and score and pock the hull. A pair of frigates unleash red beams that slice through the hull of a frigate and the charges spread through the craft detonate.

Your remaining frigate and dwindling fighters race to close the gap between them and the battlecruiser. Explosive packed fighters smash themselves against the shield of the capitol craft and it flickers then fails as the frigate approaches but a little under a kilometer away from smashing into it the frigate is intercepted by a single large missile that explodes both into a ball of fire large enough that it scorches the front end of the ship.

With your decoys defeated the Osjiic take the time to rescue the crew of crippled ships and begin hauling them away toward the main fleet. As unsuspecting crew traveled between debris and wrecks, small sphere of dark bone put around with small bursts of air tracking the ships. Once close enough the crit crawls uncurl and latch onto the ships hunkering down to seem like a normal portion of the hull as their new crude camouflage ripples to the same dark gray as the hulls.

Communications between the ships speak of the factory world possibly under attack and the possibility of returning should the Admiral decide to return to provide aid.

With your crit crawls seeded on the battle cruiser and several of the other ships you can detonate them whenever they are in a system that you control or have an eyegore or think tank presence. The crit crawls do their best to remain subtle and act as if they belong there. They mainly cluster on the battlecruiser but they can attempt to spread to other ships if they remain stationary.

>50 EMP Crit Crawls

Losses:
>5 Kamikaze Osjiic Frigates
>30 Kamikaze Ahkam Fighters

Osjiic Losses:
>1 Light Cruiser
>1 Frigate
>2 Corvettes

I'm glad that we upped our resource inflow but we should never stop. We need to constantly increase production. At this point we shouldn't stockpile anything, perhaps leave just a bit as an emergency.

We really don't have that much of a big fleet or army.
Imagine if we wanted to conquer an developed inhabited world with population in billions. We'd need to field an army of tens or hundreds of millions troops just to occupy it and keep it pacified. Such occupation force could cost hundreds millions, shy of billion, in resources.
We'd never be able to dominate them all with spikes. The way we are playing right now, I doubt that we'd want to kill the whole population and turn them into biomass but if we are not prepared, that is what we'll probably have to do.

Also, actual war fleets could be tens or hundreds of times bigger than what we have seen so far. And if what the plant people said is true, couple of their war ships could annihilate us. I imagine other factions are also no pushovers

Right now our income is like this:
>B 35290
>M 34900

We should keep doubling that amount as much as we can

We have stockpiled at the moment (I think):
>60920 B
>29540 M

...... Okay, I tried to calculate what we can build with this but can't seem to find the info on the economic structures and units.

OP, can you make a separate Industry pastebin where you put all the info about the structures which generate resources?
>>
>>45417227
Thanks for running man.
>>
>>45419542
This is good. We really should be maximizing our resource production.
>>
>>45419542
>>45417227

Lets build

>1000 Catoblepas ( + 35000B, Cost: 20000B)

>1900 Diggers ( + 38000M, Cost: 28500M)

We seriously need to up our metal production. We have much bigger metal demand than biomass.

Also, I find it weird that diggers are more cost efficient than excavators. With the amount of metal we have right now, we can build about 180 excavators, which would yield only 27000M. Yet for the same metal cost, diggers yield 11000M more, AND they don't cost biomass to build.

I think excavators should mine 250M. Perhaps this can be a simple research subject so that the increase makes in production makes sense in-game. Otherwise I don't see any reason to build excavators.
>>
>>45419542
I'd just like to point out that with our increase in production units in the last two threads the present daily income for both metal and biomass is over 30,000. We can afford to expand our resource base massively if we decide to use it that way.
>>
>>45421806
Because they're cool

But yeah I was realizing the Diggers were more efficient. 250 might be a good number to set them at since they're supposed to be the super form of the diggers.
>>
>>45423525
And in a pinch would make an excellent Siege unit. Could we make a combat variation? they would be perfect for taking down Fortifications.

While I definitely agree we need to increase our income flow, I think it should wait until after we have dealt with the two incomming fleets. Making them fight each other is great, but eventually they're gonna be our problem. When that time comes, we're gonna wish we had a lot more frigates, nails, and trolls. Excavators and demon cows aren't gonna do dick against a full grown Ahkam or a Osijic war fleet

It might be a little late, but I just finished a ship design that focuses on carrying fighters and other small craft into battle, so I might as well post it while this threads up.

Battlecruiser: 200B 500M
14 Fixed: Necrotic Flayers
10 Turret: Repeater Cannons
8 Auxiliary: Repeater Cannons
8 Needle Missile Pods: 64M
3 Hangar Bays: 120B 150M
2 Solar Energy Converters: 30B 30M
Reinforced Shielding: 40B 40M
Conductive Armor: 30M
Total Cost: 390B 814M

A battlecruiser sized craft with it's hull mounts occupied by hangar bays. Most of it's other weaponry is focused on point defense roles, and is also equipped with solar converters to better maintain and fuel the vehicles it is built to carry.
>>
>>45430543
I like it. It would be used to get fighter craft into position quick and close since the Battlecruiser is the fastest of all Capitol ships and the defensive guns would allow it to survive the strategy. Probably flanked by defensive corvettes as well.

I'll add it to the list when I get around to updating it.

THe more I think about it, the Devastator would have to be unlocked by the Large Reconstructed research.

You can make large non-combat machines but you have to research how to make them sturdy enough for warfare
>>
>>45433066
Shame Could have it be the Unit they try to produce to prove the concept.
>>

We can afford to wait. In the meantime I've put together two more ship designs; a defensive corvette for the carrier and a frigate designed to bring down shields and board enemy ships. Would it be preferable to wait until the next thread before posting them?
>>
>>45427823
Yeah, that is also a good idea but we aren't building any more ships, are we? We spent a lot of resources for making troops which I think wasn't a really good idea. We need a bigger fleet.
If at this stage we get to a point where we need to repel a ground invasion, we pretty much lost the game as that would mean that our fleets have been destroyed.

So either we need to pump all of the resources into building more ships or increasing the income.
Still, I think we have some time before we enter the battle in earnest. Akham and Osijic haven't yet begun their battles.
We'd need to wait till they have exhausted each other before dealing with the remains.

What is the usual schedule for this quest?
>>
You still monitoring, Grave? I had an idea I wanted to check with ya

8 Turret: Chain Flensers
4 Auxiliary: Necroflensers
4 Boarding pod launchers
4 Needle missile launchers (with ionic payloads): 32M
Reinforced Shielding: 40B 40M
Total Cost: 100B 222M
This one is designed to tear enemy shields to pieces and rapidly deploy large numbers of troops to board.

Support Corvette
Corvette: 45B 100M
1 Hull: Lightening Cannon
3 Fixed: Repeater Cannons
6 Turret: Repeater Cannons
8 Auxiliary: Repeater Cannons
2 Needle Missile Pods: 16M
Reinforced Shielding: 40B 40M
A small and agile craft designed with one singular purpose; defending larger ships.

Feel free to make suggestions over the weapon choices and names.

Nice, I'll add em too

Sup? At work currently but go ahead

Glad it meets your approval Jyotianon.

Would it be possible to put conductive armor on a ship? Because if we could throw that onto a fast capitol class with plenty of point defense and shielding, reinforce/modify the prow, we'd have a pretty good 'Fuck all Ahkam' ship for just ramming the bastards.
>>
>>45438204
No, thats when we use those boarding claws and pour devouring swarms into them
>>
>>45438204
Yup conductive armor can be equipped to a ship. Just seems like I forgot to add it to the ship builder

No captcha pineapples aren't cacti
>>
>>45438232
Ah, good. I was wondering about that.
>>
>>45438204
That's a good idea

>>45438232

Can we have "lightning rod" modifications on ships? So that the lightning strikes would be attracted to them. We could build bunch of cheap sacrificial ships to protect important ones.

Also, a special "lightning rod" reconstructed, which does more of the same but in case we have to fight Akham face to face.

I think he just gave it ten minutes and then, when no one else rolled, he just took it.

That being said, oh pretty please can it be best of 3?

Rolled 23, 35, 83 = 141 (3d100)

Guy... You know that void skip drive thing that we are starting to research (and rolled a 1 on), well I've been thinking. Depending of a few factors there is a chance that it never exits real space.

So ask yourself, what happens when you have a chunk of mass traveling several times faster than light and still being effected by all the laws of thermodynamics, motion, and space magic!

Quite possibly the most powerful projectile ever.
So if it just happens to go tits up when the Akham and Ojisc attack us, and we point it at them...

Well you don't need to be a thinktank to figure that out
>>
>>45447648
>Akham and osijic fleets converge on horizons drop system at the same time as we engage our experimental drive
>Drive winds up dragging most of their ships and the bulk of the scorched planet into forth demensional hyperspace
"That totally still counts, I want my mask now thanks."

>>45447354
Hopefully after that red throat ghoul omake he mentioned earlier.
>>
>>45448980
>>45447648
If it was physical mass moving faster than light it would travel back in time.

Who knows maybe it was what made the armada fall in the first place
