Winter has passed and bloomed into Spring; this has a few implications:
-It is wet, horribly humid, rainy and fog permeates most levels with any sort of open-air access during the mornings.
-The stair case leading to the upper levels isn't as flooded, but the small pond on FLOOR 1 has become swollen with tadpoles, insects and small guppies and minnows.
-Most forested areas (particularly B1) have begun seeing a dramatic increase in traffic between animals as they breed and rear their young on the spring growth.
-Floor B2 ("Canyon" level) is horribly crowded with nesting bird and flying reptiles colonies on the ledges of the broken levels. There has also been mixed reports of 1 or 2 mating Wyvern couples.

+Current Development+ FLOOR 2 (Chimera Kennel) Mysteriously Clean?
-The bodies and skeletons previously disposed of on Floor 2 via the Chimera have started to disappeared. Despite the absence of the Chimera; no new bodies are piling up and now even the (intact) skeletons seems to have begun to disappear.

+Current Development+ The Pilgrim goes off to seek Adventure.
-The Pilgrim has made his goodbyes to the family.
-He has patched things up with Lilith and "went back into the vat". Lilith in turn has updated his genetics, made some last minute perfections and corrections. He has however turned down the INSEKTVENE blade and wishes to continue using The Late Master's Blade.
-The Pilgrim had no special goodbye for The Technician; they held one another and The Pilgrim thanked him and kissed him on the cheek.
-Lilac has left with the Pilgrim. They don't quite understand their feelings, but they think they may love one another.

There are two "libraries" within the Arcane Observatory: 1 in the Laboratory that mainly deals with everything from mundane, basic chemistry, herbology to significantly more advanced methods of arcane study, mostly focused on, but not entirely limited to Alchemy.

There is, though, yet another smaller more personal library within The Late Master's study within his bedroom. Despite the years the room remains largely intact with very little wear or degradation; the laborers and even the dolls still occasionally coming inside to dust, clean and tidy up the space when the urge overcomes them.
The Technician decides they'll visit the space to see if they can make sense of any of The Late Master's personal texts.
They feel as though they're doing something horribly wrong and guilty by stepping into The Late Master's domain, but their drive for knowledge and understanding persist and edges them on forward into the unknown.

The Technician filters through some of the texts, "Remedial Arcane" sounds like a good place to start- it's the oldest and most worn book in the shelf. Instinct tells The Technician it's most likely outdated, but they sit down at The Late Master's desk, turn on an oil lamp and begin to read.

The Technician finds this a little of their head, but they at the very least feel a little bit more magical.

The Technician spends a bit longer skimming through The Arcane Remedial Text, but eventually becomes overwhelmed and instead switches over to another text, "Mana Holistics".

For a book it doesn't seem to have that much in the way of words; it's filled with illustrated diagrams, pictures, and step by step instructions that seem to promise magical results of some kind? The book is just as old as the Arcane Remedial Text and some of the lines and writing are a little faded, but The Technician sets it down and begins mimicking and pantomiming the illustrated movements in the pages.

After a while they begin to feel it- inside them as well as all around them.
A deep, nostalgic warmth; it burns. It burns as if they've spent their entire life in the cold- it's hot, awkward and unfamiliar.
The Technician doesn't know what to do with this feeling, it's overwhelming and causes them to tremble, their knees become weak and they feel nauseous and pent up, falling down onto their knees- their joints, nerves, muscles, lungs and heart ache.

They finally extend out their hand and produce a bright, vivid, burst of fire- a quick ember that sparkles violently and produces more smoke than anything.
They then fall over; feeling as though their entire body had been sapped of all physical energy. Their mouth terribly dry.

The Technician is a little too tired and a little too buried underneath a few dozen Homonculi to do lab work at the moment, so Lilith must step in for a moment to pick up the slack.

She requests the assistance of the Laborers feeding and tending to the four Chimera to try and collect non-invasive samples: Saliva, Claw clippings, Fur, Scales and Stool samples so Lilith may begin breaking them down and understanding them within the Vats.

The process is not without it's hurdles: The Male Chimera is extremely aggressive and noncompliant- preventing most samples but a few hairs and scales from being collected. The kittens on the other hand are soft, floppy, and haven't even fully developed their snake-tails yet and are very easy to take samples from.

The excessive amount of laborers you have are sent out to do a simple enough task: weatherproof the Arcane Observatory.

They, they get a little carried away:

-The Laborers weather and water proof your entire communities dwelling, they even manage to re-shingle the roof, re-tile the floors as well as completely scrub, wash and clean every single room no matter if they have rug, wood or stone flooring.
-They don't, however, stop at there- They also go out of their way and begun making customization, extensions and improvements onto the observatory: they march out in droves to cut and pilfer building materials in the form of stone, brick and wood, they haul back buckets of water to make mortar with and start building into the hallway outside of the observatory to start including it as an extension.
-They begin making more "home" products to make life just a little bit more comfortable: they start producing lamp oil from nuts instead of fat as well as fancy soaps from fruits and animal fat.
-They entirely rebuild the one bathroom and turn it into an actual bathroom; it still houses only a single toilet (only the Technician goes to the bathroom), but it now has at least six baths capable of being heated by burning wood. Your people LOVE hot baths.
-Their final installment though is something they themselves don't entirely understand, but felt a strong compulsion to make although they were unable to entirely complete it.
-It looks like.. Some kind of Rune-Enscriped Bell? Hovering over an Anvil with distinct arcane-looking patterning and engraved.. what look like Gold and Silver paneling??
-When the Laborers are asked where they got the materials, "The Bell was reclaimed and polished from an abandoned dwelling on Floor 1- The Gold and Silver was recycled from coins."

The Technician strips down to their Skin-suit and spends a day playi- COLLECTING samples of pond fauna in the spring-flooded pond out over in the interior of your floor. They're accompanied by a small escort of Soldiers and The Amazon unit.
The Amazon brings a small packed lunch for The Technician.

The weather is simply perfect and ideal: the heat and humidity are a little much, but wading through the small river's waters keeps them cool and refreshed as they prowl around for genetic samples of amphibious and aquatic fauna.
The Technician (to their great delight) manages to catch a few Crayfish, a couple of Frogs and Toads, a small black and red Sunfish and a Salamander that's nearly as long as The Technician is stall- it's so heavy and slippery have to carry it with both hands. After their little safari they have a small picnic under the supervision of their escort company and then return home later that evening.

The Technician slips back into his white, sewn, little lab-speed suit and makes their way back into the laboratory to get to work cataloging and upgrading the genetics of the community; they plan on giving everyone within the community a slightly-tweaked and re-furbished version of the increased-lung capacity. It's a simple enough mod that should be easily integrated into your people's current make up.


Lilith is already up however, slowly creeping up from the Vat; crawling out of the Mana, dripping and slithering down and across the lab floor, "You did it, didn't you? You should have told me sooner- I can smell it on you, taste it on you." She extends her long, ash-tipped claws to slowly, methodically, grasp around The Technician's small body, pulling them in closer.

"Show me. Touch my dream, make it lucid, make me feel your warmth, let me witness this conscious reality and understand fully the breadth of what it means to be alive, My Master, My Pyre, My Alpha and Omega." Lilith holds closely the Technician in her Arms, "Love me."

The Laborers have been on a roll recently and are ever in the market for more materials and reliable sources of resources, namely lumber.

There are just a handful of viable tree species capable of growing within the aggressive, extremist environment of the Dungeon Tower, but the laborers have been methodically studying and coming to an understanding of them using their inborn horticulturalist tendencies in an effort to work around one obvious problem:
Many of the Trees roots are supporting the compromised stone work of the Floors they've taken root and grown upon. Floor B1 may very well hypothetically be entirely self-supported and kept together due to the excessive growth of the trees and other plants growing on top of it due to the roots splitting, separating the stone, but at the same time hugging onto it tightly.

With all this in mind the Laborers have begun to be excessively conservative with what they can and cannot harvest in terms of lumber; often having to settle for fallen branches, logs or scavenging from what very few dead trees there are. Thankfully though, most of your lumber needs begin and end with heating a couple of baths or fixing furniture.

This lack of wood though is severely limiting the expansion of the home though.
The Laborers begin testing and seeing if new Trees and Foliage can be artificially planted.

Eventually Lilith is satisfied and The Technician is released from her clutches to go back about their business.

They immediately isolate themselves and go off into The Late Master's study to go and teach themselves more about Magic and the Arcane nature of everything up to and including reality. They become mild to wildly obsessed, overcome with an insatiable urge to understand, learn, compile information and make-sense of every text available to them from what was once previously obscure, difficult to understand and foreign literature now seems to be read and understood so naturally.

Nobody sees much of The Technician for a week; life continues without them- The Amazon Unit and Lilith go about taking care of administrative efforts and so forth, but the mood is quiet, awkward and your community feels the absence of The little Technician.

Eventually they come back out of the Study.

They're greasy, they have dark bags underneath their eyes and they've become slightly emaciated and sore, but there's a certain.. deep, deep, distant look in their eyes and a static, horrendous and ominous aura clinging to them.
They're literally picked up by the dolls and immediately washed before being fed by the laborers and then put to bed.
The Technician sleeps for an entire day and awakes.. seemingly back to normal..but.

They keep gazing, looking back and forth- seemingly staring, glaring and paranoid of nothing.

The Technician lays there awake and contemplating their dream; this is the second time they've witnessed that shadowy figure in their dreams, but the name "Baba Koschei" is something entirely new to them.

They've never heard or read of that name when they were piling through the physical texts, journals and any other source material around the Arcanum; although as the Pilgrim and Lilith were able to note- The coins did have the phrase, "Burn Alone" minted onto them.

The Technician decides the most logical step would be to inquire Lilith to see if she knew anything of this "Baba Koschei".
Lilith welcomes The Technician and slithers out, prepping to sexually harass the small Admin, "What do you know of the person "Baba Koschei?"

Lilith immediately stops.

Make it a meditation room, comfortable but not extravagant. Research mana foci and whatever else is needed to boost the technician's "signal" for stable connections.

Have the "bed" be a small vat shallowly filled with mana liquid, and the Techie just sits there and meditates if he wants to contact them. Lilith should be able to interface with the vat to monitor Techie's vitals and POSSIBLY pull him out if something goes wrong.

Meanwhile the laborers have less morbid work ahead of them: The garden space above the Arcane Observatory feels lonely with the few vegetables, herbs and chickens that frequent it, but at the same time it feels over-crowded with how many laborers there are within the local area of your community.

They split up into several teams and small groups: One focused on finding and domesticating local animals so they may reliably take advantage of the natural products and resources they produce. Another group is responsible for maintain, grooming and establishing proper shelter, feed, and pasture land appropriate for any new livestock that will be accepted into the community- the Roof Garden is simply not appropriate for herding animals.

The third group focuses on taming the Chimera Lion and his Kittens.

The Laborers overall have quite ideal results:
-They are successfully able to re-tame over a dozen or so of the feral goats from the herds that occasionally frequent the local area of floor 1 and B1. They have begun shepherding them and keeping them grazed through a cycle that takes them through FLOOR 1 and B1 so as to not over-graze the two areas.
-One of the blocked passages in the hallway of FLOOR 1 has been converted into a large stable- lined with straw and a wooden wall and gate built into it to keep the goats safe inside.

Despite Lilith's disturbing confessional; work needs to continue although The Technician feels it might be best if they give The Philosopher's stone some space for the time being. The Technician think's this is an ideal opportunity to experiment with.. The Forge?

The Laborers have been addressing it as a Mana-Forge, "Keep in mind, we're just quoting what it says in the provided source material" one laborer says as it waves a book entitled, "Arcane Industrial Enchantment". They admit however that they're unsure if it works properly as none of them have been since able to get it to respond, they also admit begrudgingly that even if they were able to turn it on they lack the technical and administrative insight to operate such a device.

The Technician simple touches the bell.
They Immediately regret this decision.

The Gold and Silver Lining on and below bell light up and the forge seems to just SUCK the SOUL right out of The Technician as it begins to hum all the while The Technician spasm violently- The Laborers pry The Technician off of the bell and rush him back inside the laboratory where they place them back into the Vats. The Technician's slightly emaciated body seems to suck up the Mana like a sponge and de-wrinkle almost in real time.

Lilith is at wits end and lectures the laborers, "What the HELL did you guys do to The Tech Unit?!? They're the only one we HAVE, I CAN'T MAKE MORE OF THEM." The Technician eventually interjects, "They were doing what they were supposed to do; this was entirely my fault."

The Technician admits though that it was an important learning process: The Forge runs on Mana and that The Technician is not capable of producing enough to power an Industrial Mana-Forge.
If we're going to use it, it would probably be best to do it with.. Gloves or some form of protection(?) and to pour Mana into the forges metal grooves.

Based off a Hagfish, a nonlethal capturer that relies on slime and paralytic venom

The main strategy is to litter the field with paralytic slime, rather than trying to accurately fire an inherently inaccurate substance. The spines are designed to only break skin, allowing the slime venom to seep through wounds to do their work. Missed spines will land in mucus, making it hazardous just to walk into slime. The lung capacity is necessary incase a wrestling takedown is required and the unit needs to hold their breath to prevent self-suffocation from slime.

While in the Vats the Technician ponders and reviews the collected and various catalogued genetic traits and features your people and The Technician's own efforts have managed to compile and some of them seem to stand out a little more than the others.
Lilith can sense what's to come, she's excited and eager with overwhelming anticipation, but she won't admit she's still troubled and frightened of what The Technician thinks of her after her confession of user temperance... The Technician addresses her in the Vat and she jerks her body to attention- her porcelain flesh shivering anxiously like lace in a gentle breeze.

"Excessive Mucous production, Chitin Infusion, Projectile spit, Incendiary Lung with combustible powder.." The Technician starts listing of traits, reaching over to Lilith and grabbing her alabaster flesh begins to molding and shaping it like clay- reaching deeper still inside of her to pull out and piece together bones, rolling the flesh in their hand and stringing it in line like they were sewing to form organs and entrails- tying knots in their work and seems.
Still, no words have been spoken- but Lilith doesn't stop The Technician; grazing meekly tracing her horrid claws against their small body as she lowers herself and fully allows the Technician into her seamless white court of blood and bone, "W-what.. what are you doing, My Master?"

"Fire." The Technician finally admits, "Black and Red, Flames- I'm, " They mull the words over in their head, "I'm inspired." They then holster their thighs around to keep themselves and their "workspace" steady- Lilith doesn't resist; she's become far too enamored by the Technician's aggressive and dominant behavior when they're working.

Bone Art

Converting the bone launchers of Soldiers, or rather the organ that produces more bone spines.

By enlarging, duplicating, and attaching multiple of these organs together, one can in theory consciously construct bone structures of a certain standard of size and shape.

Objects made in this manner would have the benefit of improved structural strength due to no action that goes against the "grain" of the material. Compared to carving, where one works around the structure in place, Bone Art focuses on the foundation and builds it to their desire.

This isn't like the previous moments where in Lilith was mass-producing pre-registered models herself, nor is it even like their collaborative effort when they were creating the administrative amazon unit. No, this is entirely The Technician's own will and genius at work and truly now does Lilith get to experience the full breadth and dimension of The Small Masters ingenuity and technical skill.

"Greater than the sum of either of our parts. The Joy of Crea- A-h-oh-Oh God" Lilith is cut off from her monologuing; The Technician is being a little insatiable: they flick their hand to the side and witness The Technician themselves has Claws not too dissimilar to herself, but they're so small, dainty, precise and delicate. The Gaze of the Technician though is something else; their pupils and irises dilate, spin, change in size and shape seemingly manually at the internal commands of The Technician.

"Pl-please- " Their hands; making such small incisions, cutting, slicing, breaking, bending and molding bone- such subtle, concise actions, it's all just a little too much for Lilith. "I'm sorry. I'm working with Incendiary Chemicals and this needs to be perfect. It needs to be perfect. You're going to have to hold on."

Lilith is currently horrendously over-stimulated.
It's so slow, so methodical and deliberate, every little movement, every little decisive action is like the work of an artist and she is the mantle, but it is a long and drawn out process that constantly keeps her on edge. Her true body starts leaning against the back of her floor, sprawling out; shivering, stuttering, "Are, are you done yet?"

"Almost".
Lilith starts breathing in small embarrassing hiccups and whispers to herself "Oh God."
The Technician assures her once more, "Almost done. 95% done- Germination process will be ready in a moment. Patience please."

Eventually The Technician finishes up and the quivering mess that is Lilith gently lifts and carries The Technician out of the Vats and onto the Laboratory floor with a shivering body before slumping and laying limp like a piece of meat.
The Technician goes off to have a long hot bath.

Their flamethrower produces a horrible, torrent of flame from a uniquely combustible powder produced by them, like wise; their skin-suits have pores that secret a kind of mucous to prevent themselves from being burned alive. Their skinsuits can also be pulled over their heads and faces with specifically designed "Chitin Goggles", forming an actual genuine body suit as opposed to the leotards your other Homonculi wear.

The Technician makes three copies of this particular unit; their registration and birthing all happen rather seamlessly and they're welcomed into as new members of the community.
Personality wise though, they seem to take after the soldiers psyche with their own individual traits taken into perspective: They have an almost unhealthy obsession with fire and heat.

We should try learning how to replicate the alchemy vat technology either through biology or machinery.
We should also create some form of generating large quantities of energy through biology or machinery.
We should consider some means of improving our basic biology through the introduction of synthetic materials, pure biology can only take an organism so far.

Not really, since that ignores the fact that their bodies are organic in nature instead of being machines, and that they have self-learning systems and self-awareness akin to that of the humans, while the maintenance droids obey preprogammed instructions and can't do things outside their programming: in other words, Reyvateils have a Will (H-Wave activity), while things like viruses, most data-based lifeforms and robots don't.

And the Install Port doesn't really factor into that .
