Kais forbid, if Cold comes into the fray as well. Frieza alone should be manageable, but together with Cooler you just don't know if you could handle that.

Pissing off Frieza is not a good way to stave off the other Cold family members, but perhaps there's a way to frame this in the proper context?

Remember, Whis said that Arctus does not necessarily have to be the one to kill Frieza. Perhaps we could say that this was Arctus asserting himself as a legitimate member of the ruling Cold family, no longer wanting to be known as the drunkard and wanting to be taken seriously. Though we'd still have to beat up and utterly humiliate Frieza by drawing the fight out, Cold and Cooler may recognize Arctus' strength and decide that it's worth it to keep him around.

The rub here is convincing both Cold and Cooler that this is a publicity stunt or something, and not a legit attempt on Frieza's life.

There is also a distinct possibility that Frieza may lose his temper if Cold formally recognizes Arctus as a successor. If we could somehow get Frieza to direct that irrational anger to Cooler or Cold, it could end up being the last thing he ever does.

Another thing on why it might be best to mask this as a bold power play on Arctus' part:

Eail said that King Cold is getting pretty tired of his sons' Cold War with each other, no pun intended. He's also pretty fucking old and nowhere near as complacent as his canon counterpart. So far it seems like Frieza and Cooler have been doing pretty much fucking nothing to establish a clear line of succession to the throne, probably 'cuz Frieza is an entitled whiny space princess; Cooler is too cautious and too fond of biding his time.

Arctus, on the other hand is a wild card:

He managed to develop diplomatic skills that the other two Cold brothers seem to lack (as well as a legendary tolerance for booze).

He managed to kill a series of the Emperium's top generals that should have been able to stomp Arctus' shit in with their respective pinky toes.

If Cold's intelligence agency is as good as we think Cooler's is, then he also knows that he made a covert trip to Arcosia, and that he gained a MASSIVE power boost afterwards. He also managed to recruit several fighters who are leagues above the Armored Squadron and the Ginyu Force in fighting power.

If we assume that Cold is building an empire for some purpose other than to rule over everything, then having another resourceful family member who seized the initiative and developed strong connections in a fraction of the time his other cousins did, then Cold could view Arctus as an asset that the Cold family sorely needs.

Well seeing as Kid Buu could fight against a SSJ3 Goku (but apparently not beat a SSJ3 Goku at full power) and Goku probably had a base PL in the tens of millions so lets put in some math (assuming Goku has 10 million base PL at that point, not unreasonable)

That puts Kid Buu at somewhere less than 4 billion, and I think it was stated in one of the games Kid Buu had like 1.2 billion PL

So if Cold was able to actually fight Kid Buu and not die, that puts him near a billion at the very least when in his final form.

It covers aspects of combat that aren't really focused on in other things; like soldiers dicking around, the long periods of fuck all happening, the almost cartoonish incompetence of officers, and what can only be described as casual insanity of war (especially the Iraq War).

Basically for a GATE quest it would provide a good look on how soldiers would act.

Seeing the Namekian, well... one of the Namekians, seems like it'd be a good idea. Piccolo might still be rather rough around the edges and all that, but he does have his heart in the right place, you think. Assuming Namekians even have hearts, which they might not, the regenerative capabilities of the species could be called into question if that was the case...

Ah damn it you're doing that thing again where you think too much about stuff that doesn't matter again.

Placing the glass you were drinking from on a windowseal to grab later when you come back, you blast off into the sky, leaving behind the Capsule Corporation grounds and sailing through the air towards the energy signature of Piccolo. You were already incredibly fast to begin with, and this new form extends that even further than before... though you can't exactly go full speed on Earth without causing a few Sonic Booms along the way, not exactly the best sort of thing to do considering the damage something might like that could cause to the cities you fly over.

Still, it's not very long before you arrive at the Wasteland the Namekian seems to have taken up as his residence. Able to see the tall green man floating just above the ground on one of the peaks, he appears to be in meditation, or at the very least choosing to ignore you.

Maybe he's busy... or just doesn't feel like talking?

There are a few ways to sort of figure out the answer.

His meditation has helped you out before, quite frankly it might even be the entire reason that you've even gotten to the point that you're at right now. Thus, you decide to move over near the Namekian and sit on the air, crossing your legs and adopting a medatative stance very similar to the man next to you.

Relaxing your breathing, you can't help but realize this is actually the first time in quite a while you've actually bothered to meditate. Being caught up in internal battles or thinking so much has sort of distracted you from the whole spiritual thing that you sort of adopted for a while there while taking out the generals of the Emperium.

Closing your eyes, you actually just start to feel at peace when, naturally, the Namekian starts to speak to you, after an annoyed grunt leaves him. "The hell do you want... Can't you see I'm busy?" He asks you in that gruff voice of his, sounding fairly annoyed at your presence interrupting his attempt at meditation.

"Nice to see you too Piccolo." You reply.

Another grunt is given in return.

"I'll cut to the chase then. Gohan already told you about the trip we're taking tomorrow, right? Right, of course he did."

The young half saiyan was rather fond of the Namekian for some reason... though you aren't exactly sure why he likes you either.

"I'm trying to figure out how to properly get it across to him and Goku that this mission is going to be dangerous, very dangerous at that. Quite frankly it's likely that if they come with me they might need to kill in order to get through it alive themselves... the PTO doesn't have much space for mercy when it comes to combat after all."

I've actually always questioned that.

The belief that Cold is stronger than Frieza stems from the idea that Cold is in a transformed state, and not his true form. This is certainly the direction that the webcomic Dragon Ball Multiverse took.

However, I think a few things are important to note.

Firstly, Frieza in the manga and in Kai still acts as though he is stronger than his father, albeit only slightly - continuously referring to himself as "the strongest in the universe" and the like. Cold himself never says or does anything to disabuse us of this notion, actually essentially deferring to Frieza several times.

Secondly, Frieza in his transformed states had wrinkled skin around his arms, legs, and tail which disappears when he goes into his final form. Cold's skin by contrast is completely smooth - just like Frieza's final form. Thus I think Cold is actually in his final form.

Thirdly, much of the idea that Cold is in a lower transformed state is based on the fact that Cold resembles Frieza in his 2nd form. However various other Dragon Ball media, such as Heroes and Xenoverse, have shown us that Arcosians can come in a wide variety of base appearances, *without* necessarily needing, or even being able, to transform.

Lastly, though, if King Cold were vastly more powerful than Frieza the entire time, then you'd think that King Kai or someone else would have mentioned him prior to the Androids Saga kicking off, or even *during* Cold's arrival on Earth.

Long story short, I don't think that Cold is or should be considered to be stronger than Frieza.

Sorry to tell y anon, but this thread is basically kill. Though I will fill you in. Bruce is on indefinite hiatus, due to Eail not being very happy with the power creep. He started another quest in its place, Jedi Apprentice Quest, which goes completely off the rails starting at thread 2 (though not in the same way as SWQ), so I can recommend it.
