Mmm. Yess. Excellent.
>>
Should we expand on the founding prophecy, or keep it vague?
>>
>>45388848
I feel like an amount of vagueness is good, but let's at least flesh it out a bit more, ideas?
>>
>>45388878
No ideas for the nature of the prophecy, but what about establishing the prophecy as suspiciously similar to a legend passed down among the native tribals on Ashardalon?
>>
>>45388878
What have we got again?
>>
>>45388981
You mean crunch wise from the table?

>>45388974
I like this idea, has real potential
>>
>>45389094
What the prophecy was basically, or have we not got that down yet? I thought we were looking for specifics.
>>
>>45389141
I thought we were trying to keep it vague because we could just fuck the lore to easily
>>
>>45389141
We never got around to it.
Although I vote we keep it vague while including
>>45388974
>>
>/tg/ homebrew Space Marines
>ever
Stop, these are never any good.
>>
>>45389186
Okay so we want to keep it broad, but what if we could somehow tie it into some of the Corazon was coming up in his research about the previous chapter master's manipulations? All that stuff to do with the number eight?
>>
>>45389209
Your input is appreciated.
>>45389211
Is this from the writefag fluff in the last thread? I haven't gone through it all yet.
>>
>>45389211
Perhaps the daemon's name that possessed the chapter Master was the 8th number of the 666 list?
>>
>>45389232
>Your input is appreciated
Hey, I'm just saying that these never really work out. Why not try something with a reasonable chance of success, like a Guard regiment?
>>
>>45389232
Yeah, had been going over it just now for review - the number eight kept cropping up in reports that he'd taken notice of.

Maybe it could also hold some kind of significance to the tribesman on the planet?
>>
>>45389250
I wasn't being an ass family, you have a point.
Making a guard regiment sounds fun as fuck, though.
>>45389261
I'll have to go through the rest of it, but for now it sounds good to me.
>>
So lemme get this straight, they're Ultramarine successors, that fucking disregard the codex (therefore keeping them at the back row at Ultramar councils), and they rip-out and steal the hearts of their enemies? Do you all know what "Excommunicate Traitoris" and "Khorne" mean?
>>
>>45389342
Part of the working fluff is that the previous chapter master was influenced by a daemon of Khorne and was trying to turn the rest of the chapter, but our current chapter master overthrew him and took his heart for himself.

Also no on really likes them anyway so fuck it
>>
>>45389342
Yes, however it is still not as heretical as SHOVINg DAEMONS INTO YOUR NEOPHYTES(See:Exorcists, a cannon chapter) and wether they are Grey knight successors or not THAT is mutha fuckin heresy.

Besides, the wolves of fenris are no less savage, the nblood angels have their black rage and red thirst'

I feel like we are in truth no less heretical than they are

Hell the dark angels have ACTUAL traitors!
>>
>>45389375
WHO TOLD YOU?!
>>
>>45389342
It's part of their lore that they're at odds with the Inquisition and almost certainly doomed to fall.

Now back on topic
>>
I feel like the whole heart theme could be turned up to 11.
What else can we run off of magic space demon hearts?
>>
>>45389373
He took a Chaos-tainted heart, and shoved it into his chest? u fukken wot

>>45389375
The Blood Angels don't cannibalize people (I don't think we actually know where they get their blood from. Blood drives on Baal maybe?), and they DAngles traitors are Heresy-era, they just haven't admitted it like everybody else. Exorcists do it in a controlled environment with Inquisition approval, and the Grey Knights do whatever the hell they want.

>>45389403
This seems a bit too much at odds for a Successor Chapter, and "certainly doomed to fall" seems a bit too crawling in my skin, no?
>>
>>45389458
WOAH! Lets not start makin dEMON ENGINES HERE! I think the Chapter master Puro Corazon is a unique case, as he should rightly be dead, but because of FURIOUS piety and a dreadnought shell he still lives. I we start putting daemons in our gear we are OFFICIALLY renegades
>>
>>45389484
Does n ot change the fact the excorcists are just as heretical, monitored or not

Black Rage, nuff said.

Didn't mention the wolves I see?

What do you mean 'at odds' for a succesor chapter?
>>
>>45389493
Maybe some part of the fluff where a tech marine does that and he has opposition from say a captain that is yet to be named and it creates yet another rift in the chapters brotherhood. I'd really like it if they atleast TRIED to stay true to the imperium and not have everyone trying to kill them
>>
>>45389484
You raise legitimate points.
The way I see it, they'll either get buggered by the Inquisition, fall to Chaos, or live to see just what the prophecy they were founded for is.
It's no Ultramarine do gooder chapter, but it could certainly be edgier. I'd like to think we haven't gone too far.
>>
>>45389493
I mean, I'm thinking we take some demon hearts, maybe... oh, I don't know, jam 'em in the holes in the reactor and just... see what happens?
>>
>>45389523
We have a few caps in fluff doing that now(check last thread) and yea, as they descend behing their chapter master their brotherhood is splitting, the BErserkers and those trying to stay true to the Emrpah. You can write that up if you feel like it

>>45389544
THIS

It is fight similar to that of the flesh tearers, a secret war against our own nature. Will we survie the times intact? Will we split? Are we truly doomed? Questions for the philosophers
>>
>>45389516
They can't be heretical if they're monitored (the Inquisition decides what's heresy) and the Black Rage causes Blood Angels to fight with the might of Sanguinius, not cannibalize people.
Wolves get a pass because they're a First Founding Chapter, and being this heretical ("at odds" with the Inquisition) is just unfeasible for a non-First Founding Chapter.
>>
>>45389569
I was thinking another captain, I'd like to go all the way and have a fuckton of characters fleshed out. I was thinking of writing up a champion later cuz I had some ideas floating around during work.
>>
>>45389545
Daemon hearts are such a no go I don't even know where to start. Crimson Wake, those Raven Guard dudes obsessed with purity, all of those and THESE are the guys that folks pick up?

I just caught up but this is the stupidest thing I've seen in a while
>>
>>45389544
So you're not really aiming for "Stalwart Defenders of the Imperium", more Soul Drinkers-esque "Live Free and Die for the Emperor" types?
>>
>>45389581
You had good points, but so do I

Flesh Tearers, an extreme case of Black Rage AND Red thirst. Teamkilling, homicidal maniacs quite often.

The sons of Russ do NOT have a pass, the Inquisition has warred against them... TWICE

They just kicked to much ass.

I feel like we are giving the Astartes to much credit, remember some of the cannon chapters that aren't first founding are pretty fucked as well. The mortificators are overly morbid, Charcaradons may be cannibals, minotaurs overly aggresive, black dragns have HORNS

The astartes are as impure as any, The Cardinal Knights are little different
>>
>>45389545
1d4fag we can only go so far before they stop being Loyalists.
This is too far.
>>
>>45389627
It is strange yes, but it is also ONLY DONe ONCE!

Only the current chapter master has a Daemons heart, and it was an innerchaopter problem anyways, off the record most likely for good reason.

Daemon engines would be too far, a no go as I have said even for them

And hay? Stupid? Really? Thats just rude
>>
>>45389655
This is correct, we are already pushing it for good reason, no need to fall before the Writefags get their hands on us eh? Besides... they aren't Khorneites just yet, enough of their hate is still that of the righteous sons of the emprah
>>
>>45389639
But stuffing hearts into their fucking chest cavity?

When there are legitimate ways to solve this with the bionics they're supposed to love
>>
>>45389639
The thing about the Flesh Tearers isn't the Black Rage, it's the fact that it's so widespread. They don't have enough people to keep them on the straight and narrow.

The Wolves have warred with the Inquisition, but not ever their mutations, it's always been over civilians.

Black Dragons were purged, most Space Marines are overly morbid, Charcaradons may be cannibals but they're a Crusading Chapter so nobody notices regardless, and Minotaurs get backing from the High Lords.
>>
>>45389705
*never over their mutations
>>
>>45389698
You are forgetting the HEavy augmentation most of the hearts go through first

>>45389705
Yes, this is true, but it hardly weakens my arguement. Compared to some of this augmenting hearts is small fry, they don't eat them, and other than chap master no daemon stuff(and his is secret)

As far as I heard Draginns were not yet purged? Am I behind?

Crusading does not excuse them, just means it isn't well known as said

Good point on minotaurs

Poorly thought out would be a better term.

Honestly these guys would be better as heretics.
>>
>>45389752
>>
>>45389767
>>
>>45389761
I would like everyone to remember, this was largely rolled

YES, Daemon heart IS grade A Heresy, according to the inquisition so is QUESTIONING THEM, or alot of other shit. Does not mean they do not wish to fight for the emperor

In the end, its funny how similar chaos marines and Loyalists really are. All warmongers, all hateful, all warrios.

The difference? Their intention.

Even now, do the Knights slaughter innocents? No

Do they scream Khorne's name to the heavens? No

Hold orgies for slaanesh? No

They fight for the Emperor, and protect the Imperium, if they were chaos they woudn;t, they would just fight to fight, though they are on a dark path even they can turn back, because even theycan hope.

Even they can fight it, the blood lust, the hate, the fear

We are all so similar, all that really matters? In the end, is... the end
>>
>>45389743
The problem isn't so much that they're augmenting hearts, it's that they're augmenting enemy hearts. If they're not fighting xenos, they're fighting Chaos. Augmenting yourself with Chaos tainted flesh is a big no no.

And I never said it excuses cannibalism, just since they're crusading, even if they are cannibals nobody would notice due to them being all over the place.
And not showing too much care for civilians is standard for Space Marines, Flesh Tearers get results, so their occasional crazed-teamkilling gets overlooked.
>>
>>45389544
Well, the Flesh Teareres are still going strong, and they're practically Khornates.
>>
>>45389766
It wouldn't be nearly as interesting if they were CSM. You'd go "Oh cool some followers of khorne that eat hearts and use other things hearts" as opposed to an internal struggle between heresy and tradition, corrupt with chaos or strong enough to overcome it. I'd really like to see them try to stay as part of the imperium and change some of their ways but there is still some marines that value their tradition over this and think that what they do isn't heretical and want the inquisition to fuck off
>>
>>45389813
I hope you realize that having your Chapter Master with a daemon artifact makes you a heretic. He's eventually (if he isn't already) going to lead the Chapter astray, and he may even sway the Chapter against the Imperium.
These guys really should be Chaos if you want to keep this concept.
>>
We seem to be ignoring the POTENTIAL here!

Many great stories can come from this! This is a story we can all build on! A tale of the fall... or of a redemption!

It is interesting no? I see no reason to have so much doubt. There is alot of heresy in the Astartes and we all know it, this is just another story. Please!

Lets write it anons! Come on! It'll be great fun! Join in! Add! Fluff! Writefag! HAVE FUN! This is why we are here! Why I suggested this at all!
>>
>>45389851
We'll considering the chapter Master is essentially trying to kill himself through battle and it's a secret, why the fuck can't they be interesting loyalists?
>>
>>45389858
But there is no fall if they're already 95% Chaos. You don't seem to realize that everything related to the Dark Gods is black and white, good and evil slippery slope shit.
If your Chapter Master is part daemon, you're Chaos, no ifs ands or buts.
>>
>>45389858
AYE!

For starters, should we go next into some chapter history? Like what are some conflicts that they've taken part in recently? Have there been some other astartes that they've rubbed shoulders with the wrong way? Like their progenitors in the Ultra-smurfs?
>>
>>45389872
Because that's not loyal at all. It's deliberately against everything the Imperium and the Emperor stands for.
Even if he didn't want it, the right thing to do would be suicide.
>>
>>45389821
Although, there's is a somewhat significant difference between giving in to the Black Rage/Red Thirst and stealing the hearts of demons and xenos for your own use.
>>
>>45389858
I agree. Plenty of these guys have fallen to heresy before. And besides, it's just so... fun.
>>45389872
Would also work. Even with that, his death wish or death could make interesting paths for the Cardinal Knights.
>>
>>45389851
Not really though, the Grewwy Knights(YES IKNOW THEY ARE SPECIAL FUCKING SNOWFLAKES!) use daemon weps, at least a couple. The Relictors(yes, again, renegades) s=use them, AND the fucking Inquis!

In the end all that matters is the story isn't it? This would just be another Khornate warband, dull and nowhere NEAR as interesting
>>45389844
THIS! LOOK! This akll happened for a reason!

>>45389892
It has been stated, several times, this has OBVIOUSLY been kept secret. Also 95% chaos?

other than being particularly vicious and a bit on the berserker side how is it 95% khorne? They dont slay innocents! Or turn on allies in a fury!
>>
>>45389903
YES! BACK ON TOPIC!

Recent brutal campaigns? Who amongst the astartes does not trust us? Our own progenitors maybe?
>>
>>45389858
I just remembered, someone int he last thread had an idea for a head apothecary that is a hold over from the Ultramarines that never quite got fully fleshed out.

Most there was that he had his second heart replaced with an augmented one after he got gutted by a tyranid
>>
>>45389851
The whole fucking point is that the chapter master is gradually leading the chapter into chaos, you overused twat. It gives the chapters some depth, and now we get to writefag the loyalist vs fundamentalist factions. There's actually a story here instead of "hurdur generic space marines chapter"
>>
Suffer not the Unclean to live? Ringing any bells?

>>
>>45389942
Grey Knights? Black Templars?

>>
>>45389943

I am going to write up some recent campaigns we have been in
>>
>>45389981
The entire 40k universe is a grey conflict. It's the definition of grimdark. Come back when you're familiar with the lore.
>>
>>45389976
Alright alright, at the end of the day, you do you. If that includes heretics masquerading as loyalists, have fun with it.
>>
Not sure why demon hearts are twigging people out when there are Loyalist chapters that:

Are based around huge obvious mutations
Are based around sacrificial rites
Are based around prophecy from their psykers
Are based around eating people (more than one of these)
Are based around self harm
Are made entirely out of criminals
Are consumed by mind destroying rage (so many of these)
Are actually prior traitors and repeatedly shuck their duties to try to hide the evidence

So anyways, maybe someone found out that a specially prepared demon heart weakens sorcery and can be deployed to wreck barriers and such. What price do they end up paying for such a powerful counter to sorcery? Do they have triple the number of chaplains and a problem with mutation or possession?
>>
>>45389981
No, not just 'turning into bad guys' it can be much more, we just have to make it so! MAKE IT INTERESTING THEN

as for conflicts... if the argues stop now(pls) I will write one or two up
>>
>>45389942
Their founding was during the 39th millennium, right? And it was said that the former chapter master led the Knights into conflicts against forces that were basically already weakened from previous engagements. How recent do we want to say this was? Could we have them go after some of the rogue astartes that survived the Badab War?

>>45390002
Will do!
>>
>>45390019
Grey's a pretty slightly less dark black in this context
>>
I thought it was stated that the only time in Chapter history that a Deamon heart was used was by the Chapter Master. The rest use modified orc/human hearts. No one else uses demon ones.
>>
>>45390033
So then it's like, grey vs darl black? Not really "grey" in the traditional sense.
>>
>>45390031
Sure, that could easily have happened. Hpwever as far as I know we are at least NEARINg current cannon time, but that can be easily changed. It happened a couple centuries back
>>
>>45390036
That would be absolutely retarded. Maybe there could be a part of the chapter that took deamon hearts and became chaos marines but the main chapter doesn't

this. The chapter master is nothing more than a nucleus to form conflict around, and may be purged by our own battle brothers depending on how the writefaggery turns out. The chapter is on the cusp of either falling to chaos or sorting its shit out and becoming proper loyalists. That's why the chapter's interesting.

Chapter Master has the heart of a Daemon prince.
Chapter's main enemies are orks, and orks are big, which means they have big guts. So it's safe to extrapolate and say the majority of the chapter has augmented ork hearts.
I'd suggest having a schism between those who follow the Chapter Master and would steal demon hearts, and those who merely steal ork hearts, but there's only so many inner conflicts a chapter can have before it's just a collection of groups with different leaders who all claim to be the true Cardinal Knights.
>>
>>45390106
I would say this but for a couple of things

1. Daemons a bit to rare
2. Chapter master has been stated as the only one to have one, which he did out of neccisity, otherwise they are not taken cause normal Daemons have no real physical forms after destruction
>>
One of the things about the Knights is that they fight with tactics meant to terrorize - how do they do this? We talking like ritual war paint? Some weird bit of iconography, like an animal skull or something strapped to the front of a land speeder? A low buzzing sound that then suddenly turns into a loud, roaring gnashing of sawblades as they just suddenly burst from over the edge to descend upon the enemy forces?
>>
>>45390094
>>45390091
I was >>45390036
I was saying it would be retarded if they all took daemon hearts and I was in the original thread, I wrote the Threld Grislom stuff.

>>45390106
>Chapter Master has the heart of a Daemon prince.

Yes but remember he's suffering it from it and is in a sarcophagus to keep him alive. Another conflict is that they don't have an active Master of Sanctity so they're falling to suicidal berserker tactics
>>
>>45390145
Ripping out someone's fucking heart and taking a bite out of it might do the trick. Just sayin
>>
>>45390145
I'd say warpaint, and iconography mixed with modern stuff like the buzzing to chains

>>45390160
THEY, ARE. NOT. CANNIBALS!

They don't eat the hearts... just ritualistically use them
>>
>>45390154
(Samefag again)

So many of the captains are making themselves more of a leader to their men either for personal gain or to discipline them because they care about the chapter. Some fundamentalists in the Chapter still don't like it and want to only have the Master of Sanctity (who has the title of "Heart Taker") as the figure the marines look up to.
>>
>>45390030
Someone name dropped Chief Apothecary Sangue, one of the few command heads that Corazon found he could rely on when he began his investigation into the chapter master's activities. He sounds like he fits the bill.

Being described as the oldest member, I see him as being one of those that are trying to keep the chapter from desolving further into anarchy. Maybe not quite have them fulfill strictly to the old Ultrasmurf ways, but still keep them from going far out the lines
>>
>>45390189
We established pretty thoroughly that neophytes were made to eat their crippled second heart. But yes, they don't eat their enemies, merely take their hearts.
>>
>>45390189
Like a big, bloody hand print plastered across their helm or chest? Or is that too stereotypical?

RECENT CAMPAIGNS

The Siege of Tellarix

For 7 years, the 5th company of the Cardinal Knights alongside a detachment of Salamanders held this lone hive city against an Ork Waaaaaagh!! Lead by Big Boss Wall-crusha, a renowned Orkish siege general.

for 7 years the Orks assaulted the city, being thrown back by the salamanders promethium and the Knights bolters. 3 Years in however, they broke the walls. The remaining 4 years were spent in a deadly street by street siege, with the Knights fighting viciously for every block, very step, every inch whilst the salamanders provided fire and protected the civilians. In the end, Boss Crusha fell like the rest, the Captain of the Knights claiming his heart for himself.

Though ssavage throughout the siege, they never harmed a civilian in all their blood lust, never gave in to hate, or despair... only fighting their enemies. Though taken aback by their culture, the Salamanders respected their piety, abilities, and ighteous fury... even with their strange heat fetish. The 5th company left with 62% casualties, the Salamanders left with only 22%, and the civilians lost 18%

Good?
>>

It's not necessarily supposed to kill them. Rushing at them with powerfists and chainswords and stealing their hearts is.

Also we should establish the leaders of the first 5 companies.
>>
>>45390280
Sounds good, but our Knights don't really have much in the way of close allies. I'd say the Salamanders, while certainly grateful for their support and impressed with their ability, would likely have kept some distance perhaps?

Alright I got one, chaplain captain of the second company Saathulan, heart gorger. A relatively younger marine compared to his counter parts. Known to inspire his allies to work through pain and take many trophies of their enemies. He is called the heart gorger becuase he continously replaces his secondary heart for each stronger enemy he defeats believing that the more hearts he has, the stronger his body will become. He often switches out his secondary heart with that of the enemy he is fighting. It is rumored among his men that he even has a gene stealer for when he valiantly slays tyranids.

The scouring of Goulfbadd

The backwater world of Goulfbadd had 1 strategically imprtant place, its massive Adamantium mines. After the forces of a Slaaneshi warband came to claim it, the Knights were dispatched, the entire 8th company.

The Slaaneshi force was at first easily repulsed, and the eigthth believed the fight had been beneath them... until they came back full force days later.

Outnumbered, outgunned, and with no way to call for backup the Knights withdrew into the mines, and fought a vicious gurreila war with the massive warband

Result

8th company - Annhialated to a man

Slaaneshi's - 87% causalties

The warband was crushed by the Imperial forces sent as backup, the Knights had no surviviors. What gene seed could be salvaged was returned to the chapter

Also good?

>In the end all that matters is the story isn't it?
As long as the story actually makes sense and is more or less consistent with the world around it. You can't just throw in random elements because you think it's cool, justify it with 'because I think it's cool', and then act all uppity when people ask questions.
If you've got a whole chapter running around with xenos bits inside them, acting like psychopaths with no real allegiances, why is no one questioning whether they should be Excommunicated or not?
Grey Knights, Exorcists, etc have high Imperial sanction, and have more or less the strictest regulations and entry requirements in the galaxy. These guys don't - not from what I can see. There have been tonnes of chapters getting labelled as traitors for minuscule offences or for shit they didn't even do; what's stopping that from happening here?
Also, tYPING LIkE THIS! doesn't do you any favours with people coming into the thread

Apologies, brother. Hope we get the 1d4chan page sorted soon - gets confusing keeping track some of this

I understand it may seem like it's 'because it's cool' but why are the Charcaradons cannibals? The minoutaurs crazy? The blood angels vampires? I feel the chapter fits well, and can't be that much stranger than what GW has actually put out
>>
>>45390462
The only xeno bits are ork and human hearts. Nothing too heretical. The only ones that are chaos are the ones that splintered off and were dumb enough to use demon hearts.
>>
>>45390466
>Cyprian
For reform, yes, but mainly to keep those within his company together. They're among the more disciplined knights, but have some shades of instability with the level of zeal they throw themselves at the enemies of man.

Also, just to change things up, I'd say he's one of the librarian captains.
>>
>>45390528

Please let me the OP reply to people derailing the thread friends, keeps evrything cleaner
>>
>>45390528
Also the hearts are heavily modified since they scions of mars and flesh is weak
>>
>>45390540
I just want to make sure we understand that none of them are chaos. The only time in chapter history a demon heart has been used was by the orignal chapter master and then by Corazon after he killed him and took the heart to essentially seal it away. I donm't know where the idea that they all used demon hearts came from. Perhaps there's a heretical group that started using them but the main chapter doesn't
>>
>>45390575
No there isn't, people just started not reading and misinterpreting stuuff.

The traitors in the chapter were purged alongside their chapter master... though now history may soon repeat itself... or perhaps not, we shall all see
>>
>>45390466
Saathulan wants to reform the chapter and become less disorganized and would like to attempt to reconcile with the distant progenitors the ultras but he wants to keep the heart taking tradition, it is after all what makes the chapter unique. He strongly believes that taking xenos and CSM hearts (if they do that) proves that through belief of the emperor, he will protect your soul and body from being corrupted

What? The chapter master with the daemon heart is still around to this day. One fell to chaos to become a daemon prince, but he was slayed by our current day chapter master, who took the heart, and is now interred in a dreadnought.
>>
>>45390648
He's in a sarcophagus on life support not active.

Dreadnoughts are the units we can't field and fluffed it out to be because they destroy the heart too often.

...

>>45390516
It's an anonymous thread on 4chan, if you want a hugbox where you're never questioned, this isn't the place.
Fanatical bloodlust isn't heretical - it's a virtuous trait in the Imperium of Man. Nor is cannibalism which they aren't, unless they're eating their fellow Marines, wacky ritualism, or just flat out being a horrifying nightmare. Consorting with the alien on the other hand, is. So, again, what's stopping them from being excommunicated, or are they just being ignored by the Inquisition and the other Ultramarine successors?
>>
Yeah! The point of the chapter is that the chapter master is currently active in his dreadnought and making more and more bloodthirsty war crazed decisions in his eternal torment as he starts to lead the chapter into chaos!
>>
So why exactly do they use the enemies hearts? I get that they do it, but why?
>>
>>45390708
The blood ravens appropriated countless relics from other chapters. The daemon heart may not be public knowledge, just as the blood raven's constant stealing of artifacts is their worst-kept-secret.
>>
>>45390736
Some kind of ritual they took from the tribal people on their homeworld?
>>
>>45390757
Ok that makes sense I guess.
>>
>>45390703
Sorry didn't even realize dreadnoughts and devastaors are different please ignore me
>>
>>45390708
Not looking for a hugbox, or not being questioned. Would simply prefer we be able to work on the chapter more than argue with people.

An entire cannon chapter was thrown out for cannibalism, so yea its heretical. Also, a few other 'wacky' ritualists have been too. The Black Rage and red thirst is hardly 'Righteous fury' and has resulted in a fair amount of friendly fire.

please, try not to make blanket statements in arguements like this(yes I made a couple, dodgy lore after all) also the inquis has turned blind eyes and even supported far more heretical practices, Daemon possesion, use of tainted aretefacts, Sorcery(see space wolves) and all sorts of other shit

What stops there excomunication is the same as those chapters, effectiveness, and other than the heart stuff no spots on the record
>>
>>45390736

>>45390736
They desire to steal and augment hearts of strong foes to fill in for the withered second heart they have as the result of a gene seed mutation.
But now that you've asked that, I've realized we haven't fleshed out any fluff detailing how the chapter cult came to be.
>>
>>45390802
>>45390202
Also came up with this

Used the Lamenters chapter badge as substitute
>>
>>45390816
Maybe one of the tribals used their knowledge of the heart to save someone that was close to the chapter's founding. Maybe when they were on the planet the space marine's tainted heart affected him and nearly killed him if it hand't been for the tribal either suggesting to give him the heart of a powerful person/beast or maybe the tribal does it on his own.
>>
>>45390816
Somewhat right, somewhat not. The lack of a secondary heart lead to a panic in the chapter, as it could be a problem. And pure cybernetic hearts were both complicated and far to hard to make to outfit an entire chapter.

To resolve this, it was decided the most powerful opponents would have their hearts taken, purified, and augmented for marine use. This way, their enemies strenth could better serve the Imperium, and the chapter could maintain its durability in combat
>>
>>45390848
>>45390853

Why can't you just make it so the hearts are of other space marine chapter battle-brothers that fell on the field beside them.

The other chapters don't like them because of this desecration of their kin, but it isn't really heretical in the Inquisition's eyes.

You can make the Chapter Master's heart be from a possessed Chapter Master, who upon defeat realizes what he has done.
>>
>>45393748
This is actually waaaaay better.

If you want to keep the whole daemon heart thing, maybe it should be the previous, corrupted, chapter master that tried that.

A loyalist with a daemon heart is literally impossible. I've been saying this from the start, glad to finally have others agreeing with this.
>>
When he'd made the comment to himself hours earlier about dropping an artillery strike on the regiments position, Commissar Geralt had been meant it as a jest, but he was starting to consider it a viable option now. With each charge the Orks grew closer to their trenches, and the Uysemia 62nd were running dangerously low out of space between themselves and the greenskins. "And once they reach us," the commissar thought bitterly, "we'll need a miracle to beat these beasts in close combat"

His train of thought was broken by a particularly loud cry of "WAAAAGGH!!!!!!!!!!!", which signaled the start of another charge by the Orks, a charge Geralt feared would be the one that brought them with in melee range of the trench.

"FIX BAYONETS!" He bellowed over the cry of the xenos activating his comm-bead at the same time, so as to send his order down their lines. "IF THESE ALIENS WISH TO FACE US UP CLOSE, THEN WE SHALL MEET THEM WITH FAITH AND STEEL!"

"That will not be required." A deep voice suddenly came through his bead, as a screeching noise began to fill the air. Geralt looked up, and saw several dots falling from the sky, each one steadily getting bigger and bigger as they fell, and as they grew closer, so did the screech grow in volume, so much so that even the Orks stopped their charge to look up and the falling objects. Maybe if the greenskins had continued their attack, they may have survived what came next, for the Commissar now recognised the objects.

Drop Pods. Sixteen of them in total, each one carrying a squad of The Emperor's finest into battle. Where he a lesser man, he might have cried at the thought of fighting alongside the finest warriors in the galaxy, but the Geralt was a Commissar, and even if he felt such emotions, the troops seeing him have them would never have done. No instead, activated his comm-bead once more, he send out his order.
>>
>>45393817
"HOLD FAST, CHILDREN OF UYSEMIA, FOR TODAY WE FIGHT BESIDE THE EMPEROR'S ANGELS OF DEATH! LET NONE STAND BEFORE OUR FAITH!" And with that, the drop pods were on the xenos.

As the pods landed, they sprung open, each one unloading it's payload of marines into the battlefield, although Geralt was unfamiliar with the chapter they hailed from. Their livery was split in half, one half a dark, blood like red, the other was a similarly dark shade of navy blue, with the only similarities between each half's colours being the black of their pauldrons and their green eye lenses.

The weapons the chapter wielded too, where unusually, each marine seemed to be armed with a power fist, regardless of the role they seemed to perform. A weapon they seemed well practiced in using, as the Comissar saw what appeared to be a tactical marine knock the axe of an Ork Nob out of the way with his bolter, before punching his other hand through the alien's chest and pull out its heart, before ripping the organ free and raising it above his head, letting out a wordless battle cry as he did. The effect this had on the greenskins in the immediate area was instantaneous, Geralt watched as the nearest alien's moral seemed to break at this gruesome display of violence. And as he scanned the battle lines, the Commissar saw similar sights of gory viciousness from the marines.

Suddenly, perhaps sensing them to be a weaker foe that they where currently fighting, some of the Orks broke for the Astartes and charged for Geralts position. Despite himself, he found himself smiling, it looked like he'd get to slay some foes for himself today afterall, he thought as he stepped up out of the trench and drew his power sword.
>>
>>45393826
"Come Greenskins," he challenged, "let me show you the might of The Emperor's Hammer." With a guttural cry, the beast charged him, only to be met by a hail of las-fire, emanating from the 30 or so guardsmen nearest him. Of the 30 or so Orks that charged him, only 7 made it close to him. He felt more than saw the 20 or so men that jumped over the top to join him as he put bolt round in the face of the nearest xeno, it's head exploding in a fountain of gore as the other Orks ran at him. He dodge swings from two of the aliens, leaving them to the others as he moved to square off against what was unmistakably a Nob. Meeting its 'power klaw' with his own power sword, Geralt attempted to bring his pistol to bear again, only to be forced to jump back as the beast swung its other hand, holding what appeared to be some sort of 'shoota' with a pair of bayonets fixed to the barrel.

"Wats da matta, humie," the greenskin taunted him, "Can't crump me without ya slugga."

"Silence alien!" He spat back, holstering his pistol and then drawing his combat knife. "You'll die just the same as the rest of your ilk."

Oh, I likes you." The Nob laughted, "When I crump ya, I'ma get me a stick and put ya skull on it." Then the xeno was on him, claw and bayonets, swinging viciously at the Commissar, who barely managed to dodge to the side. As he did so, he stopped a slight wound in the creatures side, the work of a las-bolt that had failed to penetrate the aliens skin properly. Ramming his knife into the wound, he wrenched it to one side and twisted it, before pulling the blade out, causing the greenskin to bellow with rage. Geralt took this moment to move round behind the Ork and plunge his sword into the creatures spine, before drawing his pistol and placing 2 rounds into the alien's head, blasting it to pieces.
>>
>>45393841
Having dealt with their leader he turned to look at the guardsmen who had followed him over the top, seeing that they to had killed the 5 or so xenos that had been left, but where staring at something behind him. Turning round to see what it was, he found his own gaze held by what he saw.

One of the marines, his armour grayish black, and with a helmet that could only be described as a metal skull, was locking a battle with the Ork leading leading the attack, who wielded a crude chain-axe and some sort of three fingered claw where its right arm must have been, with what appeared to be a flamethrower attached to it, which was sending of jets of fire as the two grappled, Power Fist to Power-Klaw, Chain-Axe to some form of Power Mace. Suddenly the marine retracted his Power Fist, which hand been holding back the the Orks Klaw, and drove it into the greenskins chest as he swung his mace into the beast head, burying one of it's wings in the creature's skull. Ripping his fist free from the creatures chest, Geralt saw that once again, the marine was clutching a heart.

"WE ARE THE CARDINAL KNIGHTS!" The marine bellowed, his voice, no doubt magnified by his helmet, seemed to reach out across the battlefield, and cutting through the din of the fight. "NONE CAN STAND BEFORE US!"

"Thank The Emperor they are on our side." One of the troopers said, his voice shaking, tough whether from awe or fear, the Commissar could not tell. And if it was the latter, he could hardly blame the guardsmen, for despite the fact that they where The Emperor's Angels of Death, he'd never been more unnerved by anything in the galaxy before.
>>
>>45393853
Three marines sat, gathered in the darkness chapel of the Battle Barge, Pectus Reddere, shrouded in darkness, each one on edge. If they where found here, discussing what they were, they would be killed, no questions asked.

"Casualties." One marine, a Chaplain, asked, his voice somehow managing to be soft and gruff at the same time.

"For us, 22. The regiment we dropped down beside reports their number of fallen to be 146 from this engagement." Chief Apothecary Sangue responded, his voice heavy with over 3 millennia of experience, as he had been one of the marines taken from the Ultramarnies when the chapter had been founded in early M39

"And what of the Orks." Corazon asked turning

"From the corpse the myself and Arteria have counted up, I'd say 768."

"If you add our casualties with the guards, they become a multiple of 8, the same as the dead greenskin." Epistolary Via spoke, his voice seemed to crackle with the energy he could summon up with but a though. "The same as every other battle we have fought in the last 43 years."

"Do you now see what I've been trying to tell you?" The Chaplain asked, a note of pleading in his voice. "All of my work over the last two years point to one, indisputable conclusion."

"I see coincidences, Heart Taker, nothing more." Sangue said, sounding slightly more tired that usually.

"You know as well as I do the coincidences take a lot of planing, especially this many." Corazon retorted, a agitated edge creeping into his voice. "We have been betrayed, Old Ultra, and you refuse to accept it because to do so would mean that you'd missed something in your old age."

"Enough, both of you." Via spoke, his voice cutting of any response from the Apothecary. "You are both acting like a pair of initiates fighting over your first heart. Sangue, whether you like it or not, something is wrong here, and it is up to us to find out what. And I except better from you Puro, you are the one leading this investigation, act like it."
>>
>>45393864

"Let's say I believe you," Sangue said after a long pause, "What would be our next step?"

"For now, we wait, gather more information and find more to joint our cause." The Chaplain spoke, eagerness making its way into his voice. "Once we have enough brothers we trust with us, we will take Alma Escura down."

"If he's proven guilty." Sangue countered.

"Open your eyes, brother, he is guilty." Corazon exclaimed, his voice sounding exasperated. "We need to start rallying more to this cause now, before the chapter is doomed to the service of Chaos forever."

"I will think on this, and give you my answer soon." The Chief Aphoticary spoke, standing up and walking to the exit of the chapel. "I will not descend this chapter into ruin on a hutch, Heart-Taker."

"Let him go, Puro. He will come around." Via said. "Once he sees the truth, he will come back."

"You had better be right, Epistolary." Corazon sighed, his voice suddenly sounding tired. "If he reveals us, we will die and the chapter will burn. The Imperium cannot afford to lose any chapter, certainly not one to chaos."

"When have I been wrong, brother?" Via smiled, a tinkle entering into his eyes. "I will return to my quarters, we will be no doubt be heading back down to the planet soon."

"Go then, I will remain here, to seek guidance." The Chaplain said. "Glory to The Emperor, brother."

"Glory to The Emperor." Came the reply as the Librarian left the chapel, leaving Corazon alone with his thoughts, and the Heart Taker hoped, The Emperor.

Ok, these are a few really good points, and I feel like we can change the fluff to this extent... ASSUMING the general consensus is that we need to.

I put this forward as another possibility, lets put it to a vote, if you believe that the chapter should keep the fluff in which hearts of worthy foes are taken to be used as a secondary heart please post the number 1

If we should go with using the hearts of fallen battle brothers please type 2

I will not budge on the Daemon heart for several reasons.
1. It is the crux of their current turmoil, as in it is why the chapter is on the road it is
2. I feel it is completely possible alongsidse other wierd shit in cannon like marines who can be possesed and come out of it fine, a marine who LIVES in the Warp(mary sueishness not withstanding) and Space marines who can fight and essentially live in the eye of terror for centuries and come back still loyal

I abstain from voting unless a tiebreaker is needed
>>
>>45392670
Those with librarian-captains tend to be tactical squads, those with chaplains assault?
>>
>>45394587
I vote type 1. It's a unique thing we've got going on and I don't see why it should be scrapped. Though the idea about hearts from fallen battle brothers should be incorporated - another point of contention between them and other astartes chapters.
>>
>>45394587
2, though some extreme captains might take the heart of a particular xenos foe, such as a warboss.
For pretty much all other marines it should just be the hearts of battle brothers.

As for the daemon heart, it should be fine as long as it is kept a secret.
Why don't we say the current chapter master took the previous one's primary heart, believing that one to not be tainted, only to slowly find out it is?
>>
>>45394635
The problem is this is a much bigger change to the fluff and essentially means several pieces that have been written are immediately de-cannonized and all the hard work put forward is pointless. I feel what we currently have is fine, and it is a secret from anyone not in the chapter. The Daemon prince was within the chapter and they dealt with him(Besides, this is actually the result oof crunch, we rolled that he killed a Daemon prince on the table and this made sense)

Urbanus Tragar, Captain of 3rd Company.

Fundamentalist Knight, tends to run very hot and cold. Is seemingly restrained most of the time, but is also known for his reckless abandon with which he wades into the enemy. Was notable as for being particularly on the fence when it came to the internal clash between Escura and Corazon. The close knit loyalty he has over his astartes and sway he commands over other companies has had him under close observation by those captains wishing for reform

>>45394820
Good, but expand on him. How brutal is he? How much of a Berserker has he become? His men?
>>

I go with #2, using Chaos tainted and Xeno hearts is absolute heresy.
>>
>>45395612
In an engagement against an ork warboss, his crozius' maul was shattered and in a fit of rage, he proceeded to beat the greenskin to death with the broken instrument and finished it off by jamming the splintered stump into the beast's bloated-throat.

Those under his command rarely, if ever, bother to question his directives - the moment they set foot on the battlefield, they rush the enemy with chainswords in hand. The hearts of those they attempt to claim are often far too damaged to be of any use.
>>
>>45394587
I vote 1, I like the idea of taking the hearts of worthy foes, and changing it now would mess with the feel of the chapter, and as it says here>>45390007, otherwise chapter are doing stuff that is equally messed up
>>
>>45395734
But just because it was previously established, doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't change it if it's pretty much impossible lorewise.
>>
>>45394587
I think number 1 mostly because it inspires thoughts of battle more than thoughts of defeat by using our brother's hearts. One of the kool things we had going and one of the whole reasons we use powerfists, chainwords, and don't field devastators is in order to take our enemy's hearts. If it's not to heretical I think that using Orc hearts and human hearts are ok at least. and th only person who has a chaos heart is the chapter master because he dun goofed big time. I just want to keep the aspect of taking enemy's hearts in the chapter.
>>
>>45396066
Or why don't we say that the true tradtion is to use fellow marine hearts but then some captains use ork and human hearts either secretly or in small defiance.
>>
>>45395682
This act of brutality earned the captain the name "Rage Maul"

Still open for a bit longer, but if no one else votes we will be keeping the original fluff(However I will add the new idea to the original, in that Battle brothers will take the hearts of fallen brothers and use them to honour their memory. This is only between close brothers because it means that a Space marine will take no more hearts unless one is destroyed in combat and is considered a great honour for a brother to take your heart)
>>
>>45396558
Wait. Is it canon that we can have more than two hearts at once?
>>
>>45396596
No, I think the idea was that the hearts we take eventually fail and are replaced with new ones.
>>
>>45396596
... no... a brother must give up the ability to take more worthy hearts if he takes one from his brother
>>45396619
Yea this, and a Space marine heart will not fail naturally like the others will from stress
>>
>>45394604
I mean more like how the Ultramarines have red helmets for sargents, use the pauldron trim to denote, what company they belong to, that sort of thing.

Ok, voting is over

The original fluff remains, we take the hearts of worthy enemies(minus chaos, except under special circumstance) and occasionally a battle brother will take the heart of another to honour him in death.

Lets flesh out old ultra some more brothers

I'd say, seeing that Sangue is over 3'000 at this point, that he should probably be mostly machine ,and doesn't take to the field much, but is a master surgeon due to his many augmentations. Also he may have a servo-arm, because at this point getting accused of tech-heresy is the least of our worries.

Left arm stops at the elbow and splits of into 4 mechandrites. One has tweezers, one has scalpels, one has a a stitching machine and the other has an anaesthetic needle.

Orks are his feet. He now has those claw feet that chaos assault marines sometimes have.

Lost half his face to a lucky shot from a civil uprising. Now has artificial eye and ear. Stuck another false eye above the first one to get extra spectrums.

Dark eldar shatter cannon fucked up the contents of his ribcage to the point where the other apothecaries decided it would be easier to just scoop the soup out and put some prosthetics in there.

3,000 years of an ungentle life has resulted in all of his bones now being reinforced with adamantium to patch them back up. All is teeth are ceramic implants of varying age.
>>
>>45389484
The Blood Angels never actually eat flesh - even those that get the Red Thirst only hunger for blood, and the Black Rage makes them think they're Sanginius and see everyone as traitors during the Siege of Terra, so obviously they wouldn't go eating people.

The only chapter that might eat people would be the obviously named Flesh Eaters.
>>
>>45398117
I love it the concept
>>
>>45398117
I like it, he needs to have kept his heart from the Shatter Cannon shot, because hearts
>>
>>45398305
The in-chapter joke about his is "if it's not metal it's probably drugs".

Old Ultra is rather fond of performance enhancing substances. His flesh parts are old and tired and his cybernetics are of varying age and design and don't fit together 100%.

The drugs kind of make up the difference a bit.

He doesn't need them, he just really, really likes them.
>>
>>45398466
>>45398117
>>45397767
So basically, he is an old doctor, mostly machine, and enjoys drugs? Sounds good to me.
>>
>>45398398
He kept his trophy heart, heirloom of a previous hero. It was and is in good working condition and needed little surgery to repair it. It has beat for over 3,000 years and will hopefully beat for 3,000 more.

He keeps good care of his heart.

The best way of keeping good care of it was to keep it out of his chest when they put him back together.

It is in a diamond-glass jar with a miniature life support system. He keeps it on Hyperion s desk. It freaks out visitors, as is almost certainly the intention.
>>
>>45398784
Autocorrect has just turned his into Hyperion
>>
>>45398784
I absolutely love this idea

What should their home world, Ashardalon, be like?
>>
Faggot here that came up with the name and the daemon chapter master idea. Is our MASTER OF SANCTITY chapter master a dreadnought or Ghost in the Shell tier cyborg?
>>
>>45399320
I believe this has already been discussed, and Ithink it is iin the last thread

>>45399325
Dreadnought, only way he copuld deal with the Daemon heart and not have his body ripped to shreds
(Jury still out if he is active or not there seems to be descrepenicies with that)
>>
>>45399320
I'm thinking it would be a death world of some kind. With swole as fuck native humanoid beasts. That could be part of training. After the neophyte eats his own heart he has to kill one of these swole monsters to use as his first secondary.
>>
>>45399320
I think someone answered that at the end of the last thread
>>
In the last thread we agreed that the taking of a chapter master's primary heart was tradition, but there is no mention of this in the 1d4chan entry.
>>
>>45399513
Will update it soon

The world was roled and it has already been discussed I believ both in this thread and the last one

Question, what are the stances taking on different types of hearts. Obviously Ork hearts are fine and Deamon hearts are a no-no, but what of the others. I'd imagine Eldar hearts would be sort after by Librarians, and maybe Chaplains take the hearts of traitor marines as a show of faith or something.
>>
>>45399812
well we know he is one of the fundamentalists, a berserker Chaplain Captain(next captain needs to be a librarian btw)
>>
>>45400218
Traitor hearts would be chaps only yea, and even then carefully selected and pureified

I could see Librarians taking Eldar hearts, but due to their size most likely need several which are then combined with cybernetics, otherwise the heart wouldn't last 5 min in a space marine
>>
>>45400233
It should probably be Epistolary Via, who was another one of the high ranking marines that sided with Corazón. Give me a few moments, I've got an idea for him
>>
Could somebody add some stuff about the homeworld to the wiki?
>>
>>45400765
I am slightly busy myself atm, hard to do this while working.

The info is in the last thread at the bottom I believe and their is discussion through out both.

I will quickly add the formatted section on the world but someone else needs to fill it
>>
there is now a homeworld section, I can not fill it atm however, another anon is gonna need to do that
>>

Right, I've going to sleep now, as I have to go out early tomorrow, but I'll try to flesh this out more before I leave. Until then, here are the basics:
-Powerful pysker, one of the strongest in the chapters history
-Fought of some Astral Hounds while an initiate
-Quickly moved through the ranks of the chapter's Librairum
-Was the first person Corazón contacted with his fears about that chapter, and a strong friendship grew between to two as a result
-When Corazón was placed on life-support, Via took up the mantle of 1st Company Captain, and tried to steer the chapter towards recovery and redemption, which was what Corazón wanted.
-Has a near complete control of both his powers and need to take hearts, he still does the latter, but has a better control over the desire for it.
-Most famous engagement was when he ripped the enemy leader's heart out with his mind.

Feel free to add more to this if you can think of something interesting

>>45403434
drawfag here, it does look kind of chaos-y, but i also went for the tribal thing, so it ties in with the tribal prophecy that one anon talked about earlier. i guess if more people feel it's too chaosy i could remake it

Currently editing in our planet boys!

By the way, I'd appreciate it if we got working again friends, what else needs fleshing out?
>>
Actually, this needs to be nailed down now

Is Corazon active or not? If he is then he is the one leading the chapter down its path towards Khorne currently

If he is inactive in his shell since his battle with the Daemon prince, we need another leader or reason they are rapidly descending
>>
>>45411059
I thought he was actively trying to get himself killed in battle to stop his descent into corruption, because he was too proud for suicide. I could be reading too far into what's been said though.
>>
>>45411160
Well, that is where the descrepency seems to be

Some of us say he is actively leading the chapter into these brutal warzones and turning them into Berserkers without meaning to.

An equal amount of others seem to suggest that in order to fight the corrupting Daemon heart and survive he must focus all his energy on it, so he is inactive in a state of self induced coma in his dreadnought shell and does not actively lead the chapter

Either is fine, we just need to decide which one
>>
>>45389903
Could run it that only the libriarium knows; outside of battle the cm stays in his chambers on the flagship; locked in with the episolaries and master of the covenant sealing him away in stasis until battle is called once again.

Have all the marines see tge cm kinda like the avatar of khaine; but a version where he is the emperors side of vengeance. Yeah the heart is full on radical but hey maybe some nice radical =][= who helped bring them into existence caught up with the prophesy etc.

The reason they have managed to get along b is that not everyone is doing demonic tech heresy but because only the chapter master is and he's on lock down 24/7 outside of combat; the capts abd other seniors in the chapter running the day to days.
>>
>>45411904
I like this, HOWEVER

We now need another reason for our current actions, who or what is forcing us in to more and more brutal warzones? Who is causing our chapter to descend into a Berserker state? Who has caused the current schism between reformists and fundamentalists? We COULd have a radical Inquis manipulating them? a theory about the prophecy? Perhaps they believe the chapter itself is the danger? Or that inly by throwing them into more and more gruesome campaigns will they be ready for the coming threat?
>>
>>45411246
Could we do both? He started off rushing the chapter into engagement after engagement, but then he began to succumb to the taint of his new heart and was placed in the dreadnought. Without his active leadership, the other company captains and command continued to follow his example, but most recently we had the reformation movement started by some of them.
>>
>>45412269
Well, what WAS decided for sure is that he was placed in the dread IMMEDIATELY after takin gth Daemon heart into his chest, it was the only way to keep him alive, otherwise the heart and the trauma of taking it would have killed him.

I like him only being active for battle now that it has been suggested and I feel like it gives us a new angle to look at their plunge into darkness and possible fall... or redemption
>>
>>45412043
What if one of the company captains or someone in the command structure fears the worst, that the chapter is doomed to fall to its own corruption, but rather than confront his brothers directly for belief that it could trigger another daemonic ascension, he secretly reached out to those within the Inquistion. Thus they began a mutual collaboration that has seen the Knights sent out on extremely dangerous crusades, the alterior motive of course to deplete the ranks of the chapter to the point where they are wiped out or they are weakened enough that they can be effectively exterminated?
>>
>>45412410
i kinda like this idea
>>
>>45412410
>>45412680
I agree, it adds an extra layer and makes it feel like a self fulfilling prophecy the inquis and this captain have caused.

Quick! Who is this chapter leader? A captain or not? What company does he lead? Go! Lets fluff!
>>
Ok, I'd say start on this, and add fluff in general, I have to sleep now, and will be back to check on whatever has been added.

OP is sleep now
>>
>>45412774
Ferrum, Master of the Forge, has grown convinced that the Cardinal Knights are beyond any chance of salvation. Where once he believed in the rituals of the chapter cult he now realizes is but folly. For all its inherent strength, steel and bionics cannot remove the taint from a heart mired in corruption, and neither could he nor any of his brothers see any chance of redemption in the eyes of the Emperor. Alma Escura's fall had more than proven that, and despite Corazon's strength of will, he only delayed the inevitable. It is for that reason why he believes his hand is now forced to look beyond the chapter and reach out to those within the Imperium that might provide him a means of stopping the Knights before they succumb to the taint of Chaos...
>>
>>45413523
This, this right here is a great idea
>>
>>45412774
I'd say a council; no one leader, the leader they have is in permanent kill mode; being deployed then deactivated to be brought under control.
>>
>>45415018
I think it should work kind of like the Iron Hands' Clan Council. After Corazón slew Escura and the chapter's commander structure was changed, the individual companies have begun to become insular, as a cloud of distrust has moved over the chapter.
>>
>>45413523
It should also be an in chapter rumour that he has forsaken the tradition of heart grafting.

This is almost certainly an attempt by a rival company to slander what ever company he is attached to and reduce his standing in the chapter. The eventual hope is to have him stand down from his high office position and have someone take his place who is less likely to start blabbering to the first Inquisitor they see.

He is also one of the Mechanicum Divisionists and believes that the Emperor and the Omnissiah are not the same entity. The rest of the Mechanicus don't approve of him for this belief but as he is part of the Adeptus Astartes they can't remove him without causing an incident.

coincidentally his detractors are right. His heart is a cybernetic one he built himself with his own flesh and blood hands.
>>
I've done some on the 1d4chan page on the Old Ultra.

Is it acceptable as a first draft?
>>
Y'know, I hate to bring it up as we're this far along into all this fluff, but isn't the idea of a daemon of KHORNE being the one to tempt the first chapter master a bit off? Does that work? I mean, aren't Khorne daemons a bit more direct in how they tend to operate?
>>
>>45416516
Usually. There are exceptions. They do march in strict and disciplined formation to battle so they are at least capable of something other than the bezerker charge.

It's not outside the realm of possibility.
>>

Excuse me for asking, but don't you Astartes have two hearts? so wouldn't your symbol need to include a second heart?

Or do you all rip one heart out by hand and have it replaced with a mechanical one for some kind of ritual?

>>45418701
No that would be silly. Our second heart is full of tumors, so we eat it, take the hearts of those we have killed and deemed worth, augment those and then shove them in our chests
