You are Airon Voris, Assassin, Sira’fa and sworn blade to Spectre Sonali Vasusena. Checking your gear once more, you find it all to your satisfaction. Your pistols are fitted with fresh clips and silencers, your blades are as sharp as ever, your Omni-Tool has been debugged and defragged properly, and your Amp is fitted into the interface port at the nape of your neck. You’ve shed your heavier carapace armor for the form-fitting Kuron stealth-suit that you normally prefer, as well as donning the Recon Hood you acquired on a particular job a few years ago. Inhaling deeply, you step forward off of the edge of the Nakshatra’s boarding ramp and plummet through the skies of Noveria.

Your heartbeat remains steady as you plunge through the freezing clouds above Port Hanshan, arms and legs spread out to control your fall. The stealth-suit protects you from the worst of the cold, and the chill that does touch you is easily ignored. It’s fortunate that this storm arrived when it did, you muse. It will make your infiltration much easier. As you exit the cloud-cover, you activate your Cloak, disappearing from sight amidst the falling snow. The fibers in your suit amplify the Stealth module to the point where you are practically invisible and ensuring that any sensors that could possibly detect you in this blizzard are foiled even further.

Your HUD beeps to inform you that you’ve reached the appropriate altitude to deploy your parachute. You ignore it. Deploying your chute this early would increase your chances of detection, no matter how slim they are. It would be more prudent to deploy them… now. Just as the warning alert flares, you send the signal to your Omni-Tool to activate the small compartment attached to your back.

White fabric spools out behind you, rapidly slowing your descent, and you flare your Biotics to lower your mass, allowing the chute to slow you even further. The lights of Port Hanshan glitter below you, and soon enough you land on the roof of one of the hermetically sealed skyscrapers that dot the city’s rather sparse skyline. It would make sense, you suppose, for a city on a planet as cold as Noveria to have as much of its territory as possible shielded from the stormy climate. The lower levels of the Port are built directly into Mt. Hanshan, with some of the larger buildings and the spaceport itself being exposed at the top.

Shrugging off the parachute module, you watch it for a moment to make sure the pre-fabricated device dissolves into Omni-gel and blows away. It wouldn’t do for someone to discover any indication you were ever here. Taking a moment to send a brief confirmation back to the Nakshatra, you quickly hack the maintenance hatch on the building’s roof and enter Port Hanshan.
_

Navigating the tunnels that snake through the city is not particularly difficult, and you make good time to the main space and airport, despite the stops you had to make to refresh your Stealth Module. Still cloaked, you observe the area from an overlooking balcony. Security is tighter around here, judging from the cameras set ups, security drone patrols and the LOKI and FENRIS Mechs waiting on standby in the rapid response stations. The few organic personnel you see are wearing uniforms with integrated shield generators and carrying sidearms. Most are just posted at various checkpoints, but some are on patrol. On the far side of the port, you can see the barriers that lead outside and the storm raging against them.

Checking your chrono, you note that you have about an hour before the food transport is due to leave. You begin pondering a course of action and decide to…

>Infiltrate the port as you are. Your skills are more than enough to evade the security in place and you’re on a time limit.
>Find a security center and disable as much of the system as you can. It would greatly increase your chances but it would take a bit of time.
>Cause a distraction to draw off the security forces and sneak through. It would be quite risky and time consuming to create an appropriate diversion, but would probably be very effective.

You decide that the best course of action at this point would be to break into one of the security centers and subvert the system. You make your way through the city to the building marked on the local maps as “Port Authority- Berths 1-4.” The transport you’re looking to sneak onto is leaving from 2-A. From the outside, it’s a squat four-story building across from the port itself, with two LOKI mechs posted at the main entrance. Security is slightly more lax here, with few cameras and no drones, so you take the opportunity to slip in behind one of the workers as they entered the building.

Inside, you find that that the security center is located in the first sub-basement. Entering the stairwell, you make your way down one floor, encountering a locked door with a small window. Peering through the window allows you to see a room filled with a dozen computer work-stations, some of which are occupied. From the few screens you can see, you see that they’re monitoring the drones, mechs and cameras you saw topside. There’s only six or so people inside though, all of whom appear to be civilians. None of them really appear to be paying much attention to their work. One Asari appears to be watching a movie on her Omni-tool.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45241745

On a hunch, you try to access one of the computers with your Omni-Tool from where you’re standing but it looks like the room is shielded against electronic infiltration. That trick worked once before, but manipulating that computer through your tool was more difficult than just using the work-station.

Looking around the room a bit more reveals that there’s an air vent of some kind up in the corner. It’s narrow, but you might be able to fit through it. Backing away from the door, you look at the sign on the stairwell for the floor below yours. It’s marked “Sub-Basement 2- Utilities”. “Utilities” means air circulation, but it also means power supply and other building hardware.

You decide to…

>Bypass the lock and try to sneak in to utilize one of the consoles inside the Security Room.
>Use the Utilities Room to access the ventilation system to get into the room.
>Use the Utilities Room and cut power to the whole building, maybe taking security down entirely.

The lock is bypassed with little difficulty, but opening the door would be slightly trickier. You send a signal to the door control to open very slowly and squeeze through the doorway when it’s just open enough. None of the so-called security personnel even look in your direction, all more engrossed in whatever it is they’re doing. Seeing a console that’s angled away from the others, you make your way over towards it, your footsteps inaudible as you pad across the room. Booting the console up is not difficult, and your scripts allow you to bypass the login screen without any issues. However, once you’re inside, you have to figure out HOW to sabotage the system.

Looking through the security files you decide to…

>Choose up to 2 actions from the list. A Third action can be attempted, but the DC will be 5 points higher

>Just shut the whole thing down. [DC 5, but will immediately tip off the Organic personnel something is wrong]

You quickly access the camera feed controls and find the feeds from Berth 2. There’s a fair number of cameras in that area, but you manage to cut a suitable segment of video for all of them and replace it properly. If you need to stop to refresh your Cloak module, you’ll have plenty of blind spots. There should be no issues from that end and the loop will run out in an hour or so, leaving no trace you were ever here.

While you’re at it, you quickly pull up a layout of the berths and the patrol routes of the drones and security officers. A glance is all you need to memorize both.

The next few minutes are spent deactivating the passive Energy Scan that’s built into the patrolling drones. It takes a bit of time, but you manage to remove the script that enables them to use their enhanced detection functions passively, which should allow you to Cloak through the docks without ever being seen. If someone takes control of the drones manually, they might be able to initiate an active scan, but you seriously doubt that this lot would ever think of doing so.

Finishing up, you close the console down and silently prowl towards the exit, sending the door control a signal to slowly close behind you as you squeeze back through it. Exiting the Port Authority building, you head back to Berth 2-A.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45246934

It takes very little effort to dodge through the security checkpoint, the organic guards barely even paying attention. But as they were undoubtedly relying on the drone hovering silently above the whole area, it’s to be expected. The short trek to the Core-Hislop berth is simple, with you only needing to stop to refresh your Cloak once. Things are significantly different when you arrive at the Core-Hislop Berth however.

Standing atop a stack of shipping containers, you look down on the docking cradle. There’s a small shuttle, a UT-47 Kodiak, sitting at the end of the berth and facing out towards the barrier that leads outside. A cargo platform, essentially a large shipping container, is attached to the shuttle’s underside and being loaded up with crates. A few work mechs are moving large crates onto the platform while a human dressed in brown work coveralls oversees. Another human, this one wearing a flightsuit in Core-Hislop colors, waits nearby smoking a narcotic. However, what concerns you are the two large mechs that stand near the loading platform.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45246958

They’re quite tall, standing a head or so above yourself on digitigrade legs, and covered in heavy plating. Their right arms have integrated machine-guns and their lefts have large hands with a device of some kind integrated mounted on the forearm. A single crimson lens gleams in their heads as they scan the local area. JOTUN class mechs. You’ve seen the design specs for these things before, but you didn’t think that any had been distributed yet. Judging from the Core-Hislop logos on their armor, these are privately owned.

You open that document in your mind and read through it once more, going over the specs, just to be sure. JOTUNs are meant to be an upgrade to the fragile LOKI frame but not as heavy as the massive YMIR mechs. They were also designed to be modular, fitting a variety of parts to different roles. The current heads have passive sensors than can pierce through your cloak but are limited to a narrow cone in front of them, and those devices on their arms are long-range Overload fabricators.

They aren’t a threat to you as you’re perfectly capable of destroying them, but your primary objective requires that you remain undetected. You’ll have to sneak past them somehow, but with the way they’re sweeping the area, you’d be hard pressed to get by.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45246972

Looking around, you notice the crates that are being loaded are large enough to hide inside. They aren’t particularly spacious, but if you cleared one of them out partially, you’d be able to fit in. However, you’d have no idea if where you’d end up inside the container and you might be trapped inside or discovered when they’re unloaded.

You note that the JOTUNs don’t seem to react when they scan over the overseer, the pilot or the loading mechs. They seem to stop for a moment when they see each one before moving on but you’re not entirely sure why.

Turning your attention to areas outside the berth, you notice that there are a few shipping cranes moving containers around. They manage to weave between each other in a mechanized dance of perfect precision. As you watch, a rather reckless idea occurs to you. You might be able to utilize the cranes to travel OVER the berth and board the shuttle from the opposite side. It would be extremely risky as you’d essentially have to leap between the containers the cranes are carrying as they move. Any failure would likely result in you falling to your death or, worse, being discovered.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45246987

Lastly, you notice that the mechs that are moving the food crates are standard loader units that are usually controlled via wireless by a single user’s Omni-Tool. As they’re wireless, you might be able to hijack their signal and have them cause a distraction of some kind, something that draws the attention of the humans and the JOTUN mechs and slip aboard in the ensuing chaos.

You ponder the situation for a moment before deciding to…

>Just sneak aboard the shuttle between the mechs and do your best to stay unseen

Opening up your Omni-tool, you crouch down on top of the tower of containers and search for the signals of the loader mechs. A few moments later, you have them, and it only takes a second to wrest control of the machines from the overseer. The humanoid robots continue to follow their given orders up until you…

You decide to have the mechs “malfunction” by having them first all stop working then giving them the command to shake uncontrollably and spasm their limbs. The loaders immediately carry out your orders, freezing in whatever pose they were in in before having their servos go haywire. Several crates are dropped and one stack is knocked over entirely as the robots lose control of themselves and fall to the floor.

The overseer tries to regain control of the situation, but you’ve already locked him out of the system controls. He fiddles with his Omni-tool abit more before giving up and just watching. The pilot walks up to the overseer, confusion evident in his body language and says something you can’t hear. The overseer responds with something equally inaudible and both just stand there to watch for a while. You take the opportunity to climb down from the container stack and move closer, keeping behind cover to stay out of the sight of the JOTUNs.

Eventually, the mechs stop thrashing about and lay still. The overseer begins inspecting the nearest one and tries to send a command to it, which proves to be ineffective.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45248549

The pilot moves forward again and engages the overseer in conversation once more, asking if the mechs are functional. The overseer responds in the negative, stating that he needs to inspect them in a workshop. The pilot says an expletive and indicates that he cannot leave without the supplies and asks if he and the overseer can load them.

The overseer replies in the negative, indicating that the crates are far too heavy. He placates the pilot by saying he will return with more loaders within fifteen minutes and the pilot should be able to leave on time. Leaving the loaders where they lay, the overseer walks to a small wheeled transport at the entrance to the berth and drives away.

The pilot crosses his arms and stares at the mechs for a moment before making his way over to the cargo platform behind the JOTUNS and sitting down on a crate. The JOTUNs remain in their standby positions. Six loader droids under your control are laid out on the floor and approximately a dozen large crates wait to be loaded.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45248576

You are stymied but you realize that all you need to do is get past the JOTUNs somehow. Divert their attention with the robots and sneak by the pilot while cloaked? Or try to go around the pilot and the JOTUNs entirely? The JOTUNs don't move their heads too far out of the way when scanning.

Peering over the side of the dock, you realize you hadn't considered dropping over the edge of the berth and scaling around the side. It would be strenuous and time consuming and you'd likely be stuck on the outside of the shuttle when it leaves, but you'd likely be able to make it into the Cerberus Facility, provided you could weather the storm outside while clinging onto the shuttle's hull.

You also might be able to use Dash to get by them as you’d be passing through their fields of vision faster than they could process, but any use of Biotics will cause your Cloak to drop and make you visible to anything else in the area, such as the pilot. Moving from cover to cover is risky, but you might be able to create a different distraction with your Biotics.

You decide to…

I don't want to speak for everyone, but we should probably have them distract the sentries and the pilot so we can get in between the crates unseen.

Not gonna lie, this is pretty fun. Sona is a lot less sneaky and lot more murdery.
>>
You figure out a proper series of events for a mech based distraction. Send the reactivation signal to the mechs, you prompt them to first get back up then grab the cargo crates and begin loading them into the shuttle. The pilot is noticeably alarmed, standing up and darting out of the way of the loaders, but after a moment he seems resigned to alarm.

That’s when you enact your plan. While the mechs are loading, you have one of them walk directly into a JOTUN, setting the larger mech off balance and pushing it back a few steps. It only takes a moment for the JOTUN to reassert its footing but it has to look down in order to see what hit it which prompts it to push the loader back with its hand. That takes one of the cameras out of commission for a few moments AND manages to get the pilot involved when you see him moving to intervene.

That only leaves one more sensor, which you’re fairly certain you can avoid. But, just to be on the safe side, you have one of the mechs pick up a crate and step into the second JOTUN’s camera radius about where you should appear. Darting out of cover when the combat mech’s head is pointed out of your way, you run behind the loader mech and stick to it as it enters the cargo platform.

>[CONT.]
>>
>>45249632

Sequestering yourself behind one stack of crates, you direct the mechs to finish up their task by piling the remaining containers around you to hide yourself, and then shut down outside the shuttle. They carry it out without a hitch. You can hear the pilot make a confused call to the port authority, then state that he will be leaving immediately. You hear a few thumps as the JOTUNs load themselves onto the shuttle and a few whirring whines as they go into standby mode. Kneeling, you decide that entering meditation would do you some good as well.

>How you became an Assassin
>>
You sink deeper into the meditative trance as the shuttle lifts off and the air around you grows colder. The deeper you fall, the further back in time you go, til you discover some of your earliest memories. There are images of your mother, a dusky blue skinned female, her beautiful face smiling at you. Other flashes of image and sound abound, of that same face crying as she held you in her arms. Worry, anger, sorrow, hope, despair, and a myriad of other emotions play across that same face. You’re a little confused, it seems that these memories aren’t entirely whole. They must be from before your brain was developed enough to fully encode them, you decide.

Some fuller flashes of memory begin to come to the forefront. Being put in a room with a number of other Drell children and watching as they looked at you with fearful eyes. Being told to draw or play and not knowing what that meant. Being taken to people in sterile offices and poked and prodded and scanned. Meeting an Asari who said she wanted to help you then watching as she touched your mind and screamed. Eventually meeting an old female drell with golden skin and blind eyes and being told you were Sira’fa. A body without a soul.

She was a Priestess of Rakhana, one of the few who still followed the old ways. Your grandfather had heard about your particular “disability” and had requested that the Priestess intercede. Apparently, your mother and grandfather did not get along. After much debate, your mother agreed to give you over to the Priestess and your grandfather for training as an assassin. That was the last time you saw her.

When you joined the initiates, you were six years old. When you became a full assassin, you were sixteen. You learned how to kill, with your hands, with a blade, with timing, with a gesture. Your Biotics manifested early on and gave you yet another tool in your substantial arsenal. You eventually chose to join the Artu’kai, the Way of the Wind. On Rakhana, the winds could be as subtle as a whisper one moment and strip the flesh from your bones the next. It was a martial style built around stealth, agility and death. You mastered the Tano Swords, the Bladed Body, and many more weapons. When you were 16, you were a master of the Art of Killing.
_

You open your eyes as you feel the shuttle set down. The memories are cleared from the forefront of your mind and you steadily rise to your feet.

You have a mission. Time to carry it out.
