You are First Lieutenant CT-42/458, "Jinx," and before you stands a platoon of raw recruits that have been transferred to your command. The nervousness welling in your throat is complimented with a vague feeling of relief, though you are unsure why you feel this way. You are their commander, and it is your responsibility to give them good orders and not send them on impossible tasks. These troopers are yours to protect, to utilize, to send to their dea-

Blinking rapidly, you refocus on the perfect lines of your brothers in front of you. Behind them stands your walker, AT-TE 7330, its once damaged and scorched hull now once more a pristine white. Here is a blank canvas for you to write your stories to come, a powerful war machine to purge the Separatists from Republic soil.

All of it has been granted to you, all of this is a gift from the Republic and your responsibility. Before the staunch silence can grow any longer, you speak.

"The Republic has given us what we need so that we may fight well." Your gaze flicks over to your crew. On Crusader's belt you spot an extra-long pouch on the back of his belt, large enough to be holding his prize from the fallen Jedi.

Beside him Twitch stands, his posture sagging and fidgeting as he is in a constant state of watching the surroundings. You need to remember to ask him about obtaining a Mandalorian Heavy Blaster. Next is Jackpot standing at stiff attention, and he is your crew's medic from what you understand, perhaps you should talk to him about the blackout you had last night. Then there is Phi and Xtreme, likely speaking to each other over private comms based on how they both seem to be alternating laughter. Then, at the end of the line-

The new addition to your crew, Cardinal, is staring directly at you, somehow locking with your eyes despite two viewports in between. You can feel his energy, his excitement, his adoration of you and your words through his impassive posture.

You quickly look away from your brother, the comrade from your birthing cycle, and turn back towards your troopers.

"Fight well, my brothers," You continue. "For Mandalore protects."

"Sir yes sir!" The platoon of men respond as one, and you hear Cardinal joining suit.

"Alright 6th platoon," You return to your Officer voice. "Mount up!"

--

An hour ago you set out from Shelter Base, troopers riding inside of your walker while Old Man's TX-130 stayed close, and you still have another hour to go. Your path to the city of Termat took you from the plains up and over the rolling hills that eventually leads to the pirate highlands.

Now you are walking through the sparse wood south of Termat, all around you there is evidence of battles long past. The trees are young and few and far between while the remains of the older forest lay half shattered across the muddy hillsides. The light of the clear day allows you to easily spot the wreckages of obsolete speeders, both Republic surplus walkers and a couple of Separatist tanks, and even the blasted remains of star fighters of the likes you have never seen before.

Phi whistles in front of you. "Headhunters? They were using those old things? I wouldn't wish for even Grievous to be caught flying in one of those death traps, no matter of how much of a monster he is." This was the first time any of your crew had spoken during the entire trek.

Xtreme giggles over the comm channel. "You scared of the metal lizard man, Phi?"

"You know how danger-" Phi tries to protest before being interrupted.

"Finally, you suicidal, mentally deficient psychopath!" Twitch interjects excitedly. "So you have finally seen the truth? The Separatist army is led by lizard men!"

"And Phi is scared of a tiny little lizard in a big metal suit." Xtreme raises his voice to a high pitch, much like the ones some of the female padawans used when speaking to your young brothers back on Kamino.

"Oh come on X-"

"No, dammit you nut, the Grievous isn't the only liz-"

"-know how many Jedi Grievous had killed! There's no way-"

"Na na boo boo, Phi's a little scaredy poo-"

"Hey." A new voice says.

"Yes, rookie?" Phi responds eagerly, blatantly ignoring Xtreme's continued childish coos over comms, who has now devolved to making baby noises of various different species.

"What do you mean," Cardinal pauses before finishing his question. "Lizard people are in control of the Separatists?"

Phi groans. "Oh, don't get him starte-"

"Finally, a shiny with a good head on their shoulders!" Twitch declares. "Now listen close, shiny, what I'm about to tell you is a secret kept from the entire Senate, and even Chancellor himself."

"Come on Twitch," Phi says. "Do you have to scare the kid with your fantasies?"

"It is not a fantasy you obsessive womanizer," Twitch snaps. You cannot help but be confused at the unknown term. Womanizer? "I have proof. I know a guy who knows a guy who stole the information from the Separatist spy who stole it from the previous Chancellor's personal possessions. Only absolute lunatics would disbelief the things I now know, and all of you have proven yourselves as absolute nutjobs! Dammit, X, stop crying over comms!"

Xtreme's childish cries shift to a high pitch sound, "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" A shock of fright jolts through your frame as the instinctual image of an unknown but powerful beast declaring its battlecry while descending upon you is overwhelming for a brief moment.

"SHUT UP RIGHT NOW YOU BANTHA MOLESTING ADRENALINE JUNKIE, OR I WILL KILL YOU MYSELF BEFORE THE LIZARD MEN YOU ARE CALLING TEAR US APART!" Twitch screams.

Xtreme falls silent.

Twitch begins to murmur angry yet incoherent statement, though you believe he is cursing Xtreme's entire genetic code. In front of you Phi's boy is shaking in silent laughter. He must have turned off his microphone.

"Uhm," Cardinal says. "Lieutenant, should I know about this?"

"Lieutenant, if you are at all concerned for our livelihoods," Twitch's tone is cold. "You will listen and utilize this information for future combat opera-"

"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Xtreme cuts in.

"OH YOU BLOODY FOOL I WILL CLIMB UP THERE AND STRANGLE YOU MYSELF!" Twitch yells.

Jackpot and Crusader are notably silent.

Each set is a particular subordinate or a particular co-commander and their success/failure in an action/situation.

Sometimes the dice are rolled in response to your direct order, or the dice are representative of a reaction to something happening to the troopers. When the event occurs/what the event is depends on the situation at hand.

There obscuration of what it all means is intentional, and while I would say you shouldn't worry, well, that may be a tad disingenuous for me to say.

"REEEEEEEEEEEEEE-"

"THAT'S IT, I WON'T LET YOU GET US KILLE-"

At this point it is obvious that Xtreme is acting only to rile Twitch up, and he is doing a fine job of it. The problem is that Twitch is beginning to sound truly frantic, and the argument is getting on your nerves.

You are all soldiers of the Republ-

Your thoughts interrupted-

"UNHAND ME YOU BRUTE, I MU-"

"Twitch." The intensity of your voice cuts through Twitch's protests, your tone as his Commander silencing him. When the Sergeant falls silent, so too does Xtreme's screeching.

The silence only lasts but a couple of moments.

"And you, shiny, you are the most delusional of them all!" Twitch wildly throws his accusations through the comm channel. Phi looks back up at you, now no longer caught up in the fit of laughter.

"Twitch." You repeat. "If you continue your disruptive, unprofessional behavior, I will have your communications muted until I deem it fit for you to have control of your voice once more."

"LIZARD MAN!" Twitch screams. "SEE, RIGHT NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO SILENCE ME! MANDO BRUTE, LET ME FREE! I MUST-" You press a series of buttons on your console and Twitch's rage falls silent.

"Commander," Crusader's booming voice is subdued. "I have control of Twitch."

"Good," You state dryly. "Make sure Twitch calms down."

"Understood, Commander."

"I will assist." Jackpot's monotone voice chimes in. "Private, maintain vigilence in protecting the walker. The lives on this AT-TE rest in your hands."

"Y-yes Jackpot." Cardinal says quietly.

Xtreme chuckles. "The paranoid one has been silenced! Rejoice the just de-"

"If you continue," You cannot let the annoyance escape from your tone. "I will silence you as well, Corporal."

Xtreme falls silent once again.

Phi turns back to facing forward. He speaks to you not on the comm channel but through his external microphone. "Good job, Jinx. When Twitch gets to acting up like that, well." Phi trails off.

Before you can formulate a response, your comms ping once more, the Master Sergeant of 6th platoon you note. "Lieutenant."

"Master Sergeant."

"What is the situation with your crew member?" The disdain in his voice is evident.

The disrespect from your subordinate directed at one of your crew pushes your annoyance even further. Twitch has seen combat, he has fought and nearly died by your side, and this rookie wants to pass judgement on your trooper when he has never fired his rifle in anger? Your hands tense around the console armrests, your desire to approach the insubordinate fool ri-

You breathe.

CT-42/458, remember.

Another breath.

Stay. Professional.

"Lieutenant?" The Master Sergeant's tone is now more respectful, concerned, likely aware of your silent anger at his words.

This is all distracting, and you do not know if there are enemies nearby. You begin scanning the surrounding area, looking for light vehicle and infantry contacts in particular. This is prime ambush territory.

As you scan, you answer the Master Sergeant. "There is nothing to be worried about. Simply banter between veterans, I am sure you understand."

"Yes sir." Is the prompt response, with the implication of 'I will never bring this up as an issue again.'

"Good." You say. "Now, tell me, what are the combat capabilities of your troopers?"

The Master Sergeant pauses for a moment. "Lieutenant," He begins, the hesitation in his voice sounding odd to your ears. "We are able to engage enemy infantry forces and act in support of the walker against anti tank troopers, though against armored vehicles we would have to rely on your walker for support. Sir." He says this as if it should already be obvious to you, almost as if he were repeating himself.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45182672
How were you supposed to be expected to already know? You had not met 6th platoon until this morning, and while it is true that none of the troopers carried heavy weapons, to say that not one has explosives or other heavy ordnance make the outfit completely unfit for combat. You do not recall spotting even a single Z-6 among them.

What was this unit supposed to be used for?

"Thank you, Master Sergeant." You say as an afterthought before returning to your scanning. Nothing yet, it seems. You shift the scans over to include heavy vehicles and spread it across larger diameter from your position. Never could be too careful.

You have not heard from Major Bandit in nearly half an hour. A scouting report, while perhaps unnecessary at the lack of contacts you are picking up, could always be useful. You are nearing the edge of the forest, and from there you are close to the outskirts of Termat.

Opening your private channel, you comm him. "Major Bandit, this is Lieutenant Jinx, what do you and your boys see out there?"

All you get in return is silence and a light static.

Odd.

"Bandit, this is Lieutenant Jinx, do you read me?" You try again.

Once more, silence and static. Your caution is rising as you pay closer attention to you scans, keeping the channel with Bandit open as you look. His forces, while out of eye sight, were never out of radio contact. Has something happened to them? Have they been engaged, do they require assistance, are you about to be ambushed?

"Combat positions, now" You comm your crew calmly, despite the panic rising in your gut.

"Understood, Commander." Crusader states. "Twitch has been contained."

Phi glances back at you. "Something the problem?"

"Bandit is not responding." You keep an ear to the comms. Something is very wrong here-

There! The static over the channel spikes in volume for a brief moment before returning to its usual dull buzz.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45182695
"Communications are being jammed." You say. "Everyone, keep an eye ou-"

"Lieutenant!" Cardinal cries out.

"Cardinal, what is it?" You cannot see behind you visually. The rear cannon of the AT-TE begins firing behind you. "Private, report!"

"Jetpacks!" Cardinal yells.

You blink incredulously. "Jetpacks? What?"

The second rear cannon begins to open fire as well. The blank voice of Jackpots says over comms, "Multiple jetpack troopers with antitank rifles are approaching the walker from the rear."

"Lieutenant, 10 o clock!" Phi cries out. As you turn your periscope to the indicated position, you spot it: dozens of human infantry flooding out of an uncovered hole in the ground. The blaster bolts are flying all around your cockpit, ineffectual against your armor while plinking against your windows.

"Ambush!" You yell over Republic channels.

"What the-" Old man yells over comms as an AT-RCT leaps on top of him to your left, though as the Saber tank swerves the top gunner unleashes his beam cannon it lances through the leg of the walker, causing it to tip off the Saber tank and clatter to the ground.

Hundreds of soldiers reveal themselves from the thinly wooded forest, many popping out of holes in the ground. The left side of your frontal cannons begins to fire back into the enemy. At this point, rockets begin to fire all around your position, sending up sprays of mud and smoke all around your walker.

You glance at your scans as the telltale sound of jetpacks thunder over your cockpit. You are completely surrounded, and more AT-RCTs are coming from your front and right side.

The mad laughter of Xtreme echoes out over comms again. "Finally, something to kill!"

Okay. We're more mobile than the infantry, so our main concerns are the anti-tank guns and walkers. I don't know how dangerous the blasters on an RCT are, but if they're for riot control they might not be an effective anti-tank weapon.

I say we get some distance from the infantry, in case they have handheld explosives, target the jet troopers and try to get in contact with backup.

Back from food.

There seems to be a general division between the intention of the votes, basically "Stay and fight the ambush" or "Run through the ambush."

So please state which you would like for these orders to be treated as.

From there, popular votes seem to be to dismount the infantry, have the mass driver deal with the flanking AT-RCTs, and attempt to deal with the jamming from the command suite and get word out to friendly forces.

Does this seem agreeable? Or are there changes you would like to make before I call for rolls?

Certain orders will add bonuses/negatives to future/concurrent orders. Something to keep in mind.

"Xtreme!" You call out. "Right side, now!"

The mass driver rotates to your command as you send the locations of the incoming AT-RCTs. The sheer amount of contacts on your scans makes it impossible to determine the true number of the enemy forces, and in the forest between hills like you are right now, enemy forces can fire upon you from literally any angle.

You cannot let that happen.

The distance between you and the soldiers is closing fast, and behind them you can see the jetpack troopers circle around for another pass. The heavy blaster cannons penetrate deep into the enemy ranks, cutting down soldiers before sending out a shock wave that flings bodies in all directions. The top gunner of the TX-130 stands tall behind his beam cannon, sending lancing rays of death into lines of soldiers with every shot.

The left forward guns continue firing unrelentingly as you approach. Despite the veritable stream of death you are producing, the soldiers do not halt their charge even as their comrades fall on either side.

"Lieutenant," Jackpot says. "Contacts approaching from the rear. Cardinal, open fire."

The rear guns add their reports to the battle.

The enemy wants to get close to you, use their overwhelming numerical advantage to their benefit.

You will not let them.

"Lieutenant," The Master Sergeant says. "Order us to dismount, we will hold off the enemy."

"Negative, Master Sergeant." You look down to Phi. "Driver, get us out of this ambush, now.

"Locked on target!" Xtreme giggles as the AT-TE begins to increase its speed. "You're in the jungle, baby! You're gonna dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" The mass driver begins to unleash a barrage of shells through the forest, tearing through the new trees and adding new craters to the old.

The forward right cannons are not firing. What is Twitch up to-

Oh.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45186164
"Twitch." You say as you unmute his mic. A deluge of half mumbled ranting pours out of the connection with him. "Twitch!" You have to yell to get his attention, the rants reducing to a vague murmur. "Contacts, front! I need your guns, Sergeant!"

"Ambush?" Twitch's reedy voice asks you, shaky but back in control. "Ah hell, you psychos walked into an ambush!"

Now all four of your forward cannons are lancing through the enemy ranks. Good, now all you have to do is gain inertia and plow through to the other side. You also need communication with Bandit and his scouts.

You try and pinpoint the source of the jamming, but there is so much electronic noise going on that you are having difficulty getting any direction from the jammer. For whatever reason it is not interfering with your tacmap and its records of contacts, which you is fortunate, but not hopeful. The tacmap is showing you that the entire area around you is packed full of incoming infantry, and soon another wave is meant to be incoming from your right.

As you pivot your periscope to look, Xtreme calls out. "Nothing more to report here boss!" The mass driver rotates to face the front.

No, that's impossible. The tacmap is still showing contacts-

Wait.

You zoom in with your periscope.

There is nothing there except for the remains of a couple of AT-RCTs.

Whatever is jamming your communications is also inputting data into your tactical map, something that would be impossible to do from afar. Meaning that something, or someone, is attached to your AT-TE.

You quickly open the feed to your external cameras, with plentiful new additions and angles. You see more blaster fire, a soldier with a jetpack having the mass driver slam into his gut, the belly of the walker with sparks flying out of it, above the rear cannons facing the soldiers holding in the trees firing rockets at you-

Wait.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45186175
You scroll back to the belly. The sparks you see, they do not correspond to any damage readings you have. You enhance the view, focusing even as the swarm of blaster fire all focuses in on the cockpit around you. You tune out Phi's wild cursing about being blind and examine what the camera has to see.

The sparks are random and irregular, and seem to be coming from a black box stuck right along the central power supply. You switch over to the communications relay of the AT-TE: it shows everything as transmitting and receiving just fine.

You cannot help but grimace. Sneaky Separatists.

"I found the source of the jamming." You comm your crew.

"Wait, we're being jammed?" Twitch says. "Ah hell, is everything showing as transmitting still?"

That's a rather specific guess. "Yes, that's the case. There is a black box attached to the underside, and it must have worked its way into our systems."

"Dammit, alright, I'll get out there and fi-" The AT-TE jostles and shakes violently as an explosion slams into the armor along its flank. That was heavier ordnance than you have been facing so far.

"I can't see, Twitch!" Phi yells. The blaster fire swarming the cockpit has obscured all of your vision. "If I can get us out of here, we can fix the jamming pro-"

"Phi, stop!" Twitch calls out.

"There's no time, we have to get out of the killzone!"

You turn your periscope to face front, and fortunately because of its recessed position you are able to see-

"Brace for impact!" Twitch screams.

All cannons are still firing, the mass driver obliterating the entire valley of cover.

You spot it the fraction of a second before it passes under your cockpit.

A massive tree extended across the front of your walker with rapid firing anti infantry gatling cannons on either side of it.

Your forward legs collide with the tree, and your stomach flies up into your throat as once again you are falling.

As the blaster fire clears from the viewscreen, you see a massive pile of vibrospikes extending from the pit in the ground that you were slowly being tipped into. Your inertia was too much, not even your massive weight will be able to maintain your balance as you tip, tip, and pivot down towards the spikes that spell your doom.

You have but moments to think as your descent turns from agonizingly slow to rapid in a heartbeat, once stationary spikes thrusting towards you as you fall, fall, death imminen-

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45186240
"Fire, now!" Twitch screams.

Another barrage of blue beams lance out from all around you them and the shells of the mass driver slam into the dirt in front of you, blasting away the side of the shallow pit and sending shards of shattered blade clattering harmlessly against your cockpit window.

As the bottom of the cockpit stabilizes its descent, its back two legs helplessly up in the air as the forward two are bent backward at an awkward angle, you hear the clatter of people climbing onto the sides of the walker, and angry cries of bloodlust denied.

Men with jetpacks land on all sides of your cockpit and take out their antitank rifles, pressing them against the windows of the cockpit. They stare at you behind the emotionless gaze of old gas masks.

In defiance you grab your carbine and raise it against the soldier to your right, prepared to take at least one of these filthy rebels with you-

"RrrraaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" Is the cry over comms. The soldiers all look to the right of the AT-TE, and as you look you see the TX-130 making a beautiful arc through the air towards you and the cockpit, angling itself below the mass driver, aiming for the jetpack troopers. Its glorious flight is perfectly angled, and the jetpack troopers all around you activate their thrusters in a desperate ploy to get away. The Old Man has come to sav-

A barrage of rockets descends from the front of the AT-TE and slam into the side of the TX-130, sending it wildly spinning off course before leaving your view.

Still the jetpack troopers fly away, giving you a moment to breath.

"Bloody hell," Phi grunts. "We're stuck."

"If it wasn't for your terrible driving, we wouldn't be in this position!" Twitch angrily calls out.

"Everyone, status report." You order. The adrenaline is pumping through your veins. Right now, every moment counts. Even as the positive reports funnel in, you continue to scan both visually and with your tactical map.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45186288
It seems that the black box is still connected to your walker, so your tacmap is still unreliable. After a visual scan, you spy roughly two platoons of infantry cautiously advancing on your position.

"Get us out of here Phi!" Twitch snaps.

"Only if you want to get out and push!" Is your driver's response. The legs of the walkers are whining, and although there are no reports of damage and it is slowly dislodging itself, the enemy forces will be on you long before you can get out. If you can hold out, you should be able to bring all your weapons to bar-

A thunderous horde of explosions slam into the hull of your walker, the ground around you, shaking your walker and pushing the front down towards the pit ever so slightly.

"Rocket barrage!" Cardinal calls out.

Rockets? How can the rebels have this firepower? As the barrage lets up, you begin switching through cameras again, trying to get eyes on-

There, to your rear, you see it just as Cardinal calls out. "TX-130s! A whole squadron of them? How did the Separatists get their hands on those?"

The infantry around you begin to move in. The jetpack soldiers will be back to deal with you, you are sure of it.

"Lieutenant," You hear Old Man groan over comms.

"Corporal," You call out. "Are you okay? What's the status of the TX-130?"

"They banged us up pretty good." The ages clone coughs, sounds incredibly weak. "No critical damage, nothing this machine can't handle, but I and Dig here are wounded. Nothin' serious, just," He interrupts himself with coughing once again. "Commander, I can unleash my rockets on these damned scum."

"Is the enemy aware of your ability?" You may be able to make it out of here.

"No." Old Man grunts. "Damned fools, never checking their kills. Just give me the word and the target, sir. Oh, and kiddo. Thanks." The Corporal goes quiet.

You grab the edges of the cockpit, pulling yourself out to better see the approaching enemy forces. Feeling a powerful force overcome you, you suck in a deep breath. Phi looks up at you.

"Commander, what are you-"

"YODELLI LA HOO, YODELELLI HA, YODELLELLI, YODELLELLI HOO!"

You expel the air out of your lungs in a beautiful yodel. Phi is confused.

"What the hell? Commander are you alright?" the Master Sergeant's voice asks over the comm. You can hear some of the other troopers voicing their confusion as well.

The enemy must have heard it, as you see many of them on the front line look at each other to confirm if they also hear your immaculate yodeling. Unfortunately, they all agree that they have.

You jump off the AT-TE and charge at them, yodeling all the way.

Rolled 2, 4, 5 = 11 (3d10)

There are a couple of ties here.

The first one is whether Jinx will be busy immediately grabbing the black box and disconnecting it from the Walker, or leading the defense of the walker.

The second is whether the soldiers will hop out and get in a prolonged line battle, or surprise the enemy soldiers as they get in close/board the AT-TE.

Each choice would make this update extremely different on their own, but together I feel uncomfortable letting the dice decide the combination.

These die though? They mean nothing. Nothing at all.
>>
>>45187475
If the troopers have been trained properly they should be able to defend the walker while we grab the chip, then we can help them.

How much cover is there for 6th platoon to use when they jump out?

The craters the cannons of the AT-TE created when Twitch saved your life are all grant decent cover. There is the AT-TE itself that protects from the TX-130s (6 ot them, to be exact) as well as the tree they used to trip you.

Anon once wanted a complete list of every trooper Jinx has under his command. This is the introduction of some of those troopers, as (possibly) proven in combat.

Due to the limiting nature of the doors of the AT-TE and the awkward angle, this is the maximum number of troopers allowed to get out this round. If you would like to roll me another set of 3 10d10, that could be the next "wave" of troopers.

"Master Sergeant." You find yourself whispering as you activate the comms.

To his benefit, he whispers back. "Yes, Lieutenant?"

"Keep you and your best men inside near the external doors. Once I give the word, I need you to open fire on the approaching infantry and get your boys outside as fast as you can."

"Will you be leading us in the defense, sir?" You can hear the edge of hopeful pride in the Master Sergeant's voice.

You cannot help but grimace to yourself. "I will have to confer that responsibility to you. I must reestablish communications with friendly forces, but I need you to hold the line until they arrive." As you watch, the Nationalist soldiers slowly edge towards your walker, likely expecting your troopers to file out right about now. You will not give them the satisfaction of cutting down your men in droves.

"Understood, sir." The Master Sergeant states. "I and my men will do our duty. Just give the word."

You switch channels so that you are only speaking with your crew, and Old Man as well. "Hold your position until the enemy is close. I want it to look like we are not a threat until it is too late for them to react. In the confusion, I will try and reestablish comms with the Major. Understood?"

Phi sits below you, silent. You can feel the tension from the rest of your crew in the growing silence at your orders. You do not blame them, the nervousness of sitting and doing nothing is already fraying your nerves.

As you wait, you find yourself counting every soldier in sight time and time again. They were all roughly 300 meters out, and their excruciatingly cautious approach is numbing your mind. After nearly a dozen counts, you determine that there are approximately 36 soldiers on your right side and 48 on the left. While they may have been fighting with fervor, the sudden end of the battle is putting them on edge.

To pass the time you listen in on the 6th Platoon's intersquad comm channel. Choosing one, they begin talking.

"-nd I'm going to start a bar on Coruscant."

"Come on Threes, not this again."

"Yeah, could you shut up about your bar? Is this really the time for this?"

"Awe, Blue, Dodger, you gotta listen to me! This bar will get us rich, you see, because we won't just be selling drinks. We'll be selling all sorts of prizes! Our entire bar will be decorated with the spoils of war, and we will all get all the ladies because we would all be heroes of the Republic!"

The channel grows silent for a moment.

"You're all no fun." Threes pouts. "What do you think, Ivan? Is my idea a good one?"

"Dah." The voice sounds surprisingly accented and gruff. You are not sure you have ever heard of a brother speaking that way.

"See Blue! Ivan thinks its a good idea!" Threes says excitedly.

"Ivan thinks brewing ale with droid oil is a good idea." Blue grumbles back.

"W-w-what would I be able to do in y-your bar, Th-th-th-th-three?" A quiet trooper stutters.

"I'm glad you asked, Stutters!" Huh. Predictable. "How are you with the ladies? Huh? I'm sure a strapping man like you, much like myself if I don't add, had plenty of luck with the beautiful broads in this Galaxy!"

The only reply is a murmured, panicked stuttering.

"Threes, seriously, shut up!" The trooper who must be Dodger snaps.

"Fine then, *sir.*" Threes grumbles before falling silent. The moment before you go to switch off the comms, as the enemy soldiers are now 50 meters out, Threes continues, "You're all just jealous of my great ideas."

As the rest of the squad erupts in protests, or what you think is stuttered agreements, you switch at random to another squad. Before listening in, you scroll through your camera feeds and examining the TX-130s to your rear. All six of them are sitting 150 meters away and have not budged. Perhaps they will move when the soldiers get in closer.

Making sure your carbine is loaded and ready to fire, you watch the incoming soldiers. They are all wearing a similar uniform, very atypical of Separatist scum. Perhaps they are rebels from the military, though you do not remember seeing the Loyalists forces in uniform either.

Then again, you do not remember actually seeing the Loyalists fight. Except for Carla, but she was piloting your walker, not leading the charge into battle. Your gut tightens at the thought of her dim green eyes and her pasty, dirty red hair as she lied in your arms, curled up against your legs, letting out her grief to you.

You left her there in that hospital bed without so much as a goodbye.

You led her very nearly to her death.

And you left her alone, wounded and sad.

What sort of Commander are yo-

You shake your head and blink rapidly. Focus, Jinx. Stay Professional, you have a battle to win.

You look again. Now many of the Nationalist soldiers are jogging up to the AT-TE. They are still being cautious, sending only a couple squads of soldiers up while the rest sit around 30 meters away.

Fortunately, they are all standing or kneeling in the open. You can do this. All you need to do is time everything righ-

A series of sudden thumps collide with the armor all along the hull. As you look up, you see a pair of boots land on the top of your cockpit, followed shortly by four more along the sides of your window. The jetpack troopers have arrived.

You place your hand on the emergency release of the canopy. "On my mark." You whisper over comms. Below you, you hear Phi ready his own weapon as the two of you try to look as dead in your seats as possible. You watch as the gas masked troopers all turn towards the two of you, watching you, reading their antiarmor rifles at any sign of movement.

Your heart screams in your chest, thundering against your chest, every muscle in your body screaming at you to move, to raise your carbine and fire, to unleash hell on these filthy Separatist traitors.

You sit, completely still.

As the soldiers talk with each other and poke the glass with their rifle barrels, as the sound echoing disconcertingly through your cockpit, you are still.

As the four soldiers help each other onto the top of your canopy, you are like the death.

When they are all in position, and when you begin to hear the clanging of impromptu tools against your pristine hull, scratching its new paint, you act.

"Mark." You say clearly.

The four soldiers all quickly look down at you, confused.

You press two buttons.

Simultaneously, the cockpit and the doors all fling themselves open. The unsuspecting jetpack soldiers are thrown through the air and into the pit below, and as you move to exit your seat and jump down, you hear the sound of blasters being fired and men screaming in pain and surprise. As you hit the ground on the left side of the AT-TE, next to the edge of the pit, beside you two fellow clones land along with the tumbling bodies of Nationalist assaulters. As you and your fellow clones hit the dirt, another pair of troopers jump down from the AT-TE.

At this point, the Nationalists unleash a wall of return fire to which your troopers fire back. The mass driver cannon begins to quickly rotate to the right side, and from the cockpit you see Phi firing his carbine as the canopy slowly closes once more.

You push yourself up from the mud, opening comms as you move to the underside of the AT-TE. "Twitch, sniper support-"

A body collides with yours, pushing you further into the deep mud. Red blaster fire is flying through the air all around you. You try to spin your body, try to raise your carbine against your attacker, rage prickling at your heart as you intend to purge the filthy rebel who chose his end by attacking yo-

"Dammit Lieutenant!" A fellow brother grunts as you flail against his hold. "Stay still! Do you want to get yourself killed?!?"

You calm down immediately thereafter, looking at the trooper on top of you. His armor is unadorned, though when he looks at you, you cannot help but imagine him raising his eyebrow. "Besides, I can't let a fellow clone die! Who else is going to come to my bar and buy Ivan's drinks?"

You recognize his voice now, Threes. As the both of you climb off of each other, you point to the center left leg. "Move there, now."

The Mass Driver is opening fire. While most of the shots are flying at awkward angles and overshooting the Nationalist forces, those on the right are staying suppressed. The TX-130s are trying to fire upon the AT-TE's underside, making you keep your head to the dirt as heavy beams fly over your head and splash harmlessly against your walker's armor.

"So, oh great Officer from high above." Threes quips as you crawl beside each other. "What brings you down here in the dirt with us grunts?" To the left of the walker, the enemy forces are beginning to approach, as well as a flanking TX-130.

"What?" You ask him. "Is this really the time for this?" You duck your head down further into the mud as a beam cannon from one of the TX-130s flies just over your back. A sniper shot resounds from the AT-TE, and you see that gunner fall over, dead.

"I'm just trying to make conversation, ya'know! Gotta practice my technique with the ladies!" The two of you reach the center leg. As you sit with your back against it for cover, you quickly look around the walker's belly to find that black box-

You see an offshoot of sparks. There. The black box is out of sight of the incoming fire, unfortunately

As you climb up to a crouch, Threes grabs you by the shoulder. "Wait, Lieutenant, what are you doing?"

You look down at him. "Reestablishing communications. The box up there has to go so we can have our reinforcements."

>>
>>45189731
Along either side of you a line of Nationalists charges in, engaging in hand to hand combat with the three troopers on the ground. A sniper shot from above causes the next incoming soldier to drop before he runs underneath the walker.

You help Threes stand up as a clone fends off two Nationalists at once while using his carbine as a club. You raise your rifle to fire on the enemy, but then an enemy tackles you from behind. As you struggle to maintain your footing on the slippery mud, the Nationalist screams at you,

"LET JABIIM BE FREE REPUBLIC DOG!"

You elbow the soldier in the face and pivot on your heel, using the momentum to fling the soldier to the ground. As his helmet rolls off his head revealing the face of a boy, you point your carbine down at him.

You see the rage in his eyes, the fear, the hope.

You hesitate.

"GRENADE!" Threes yells.

You see the boy soldier grin as you hear the telltale beeping of a thermal detonator.

You are pushed, stumbling and then falling behind the leg of the AT-TE. As one, the other troopers disengage from their Nationalist foe and dive to cover.

The detonator detonates at the back of the AT-TE as the boy soldier yells in rage.

The shockwave throws the world over you.

As your ears ring, the dirt and smoke waving through the air, you slowly sit up and stare up at the black box. In a moment of bemused thoughtlessness, you raise your carbine and fire a couple times at the box. After the 4th wild shot, the bolt shatters the sparking box and you watch as its remains tumble down.

There it lands on a white suit of armor. You sit as your head rings and you stare at the armor lying on the ground, covered in mud and bl-.

You see another trooper approach the suit of armor, wrapping their arms under it and lifting it into the air. The trooper ignores the wave of blaster fire around him, carrying him back into a crater that provides cover.

You stare blankly. You are unsure what is off with that suit of armor.
> [Cont.]
>>
>>45189782
Slowly, you begin to hear again. First it is tinny and distant, but soon you are able to make out words, even as you sat staring at this suit of armor that disturbs you.

"-coming, repeat, Lieutenant we are incoming!" A familiar voice tells you through your helmet.

The trooper holding the body, the one who seems to be doing something under the cover of the tree, looks up at you. He waves you, and saying in the most nigh unintelligible accent, "Dah, you come here now. Ivan will help you. Come."

You nod, more to yourself than him, as you crouch and slowly walk over to him. All around you more troopers are landing on the ground, more brothers are firing into the enemy and breaking their lines.

You collapse next to the trooper, Ivan, and stare down at the suit of armor he is carrying.

The suit is unsettling you, so you look away.

Ivan taps your helmet, making you look at him. "No, you watch."

You follow his orders and watch as he works on one of the arms of the suit.

There is something about it that makes you want to look away, but you watch as Ivan works. Through your helmet you hear the sounds of victory, though your entire world is captivated by this odd speaking clone and his rhythmic work.

You still do not understand what you watching.

But, you do not care.

You need to see this work, need to see what Ivan is doin-

"There." The brusque trooper states, patting the suit of armor on its chest. "You okay now. Time in medical station, do you good. Comrade."

The suit of armor moves, slowly. While it should surprise you, it does not. You see it move its arms, though somehow they are far too short. Your vision twists as you watch the helmet look down at its shortened arms, obviously a mistake of the manufacturer. This suit of armor is unfit for duty, it should be sent back to the factory to have its arms be properly applied.

You hear a light chuckle, not a noise you would expect to hear from Ivan. After a glance, you see it is not him.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>45189797
Then, you hear a voice.

"I suppose I have another three to add to the list." The voice is light hearted if not woozy. "Three threes in my name, and now I only got three limbs." The suit of armor, your brother, Threes shakes his shortened arms up at Ivan. "My legs may be find, but now I have to work on my third."

The three of you sit in silence at Threes' words.

"If you know what I mean."

"Lieutenant!" Your comms ping, causing you to blink.

You raise your write up to near your face. "Yeah, reporting."

"Bloody hell, it's good to hear from you!" Bandit calls out. "I'm 10 minutes out, but we spotted a serious problem on our way here."

You sit up, alert and aware. "What is the situation, Major?"

"A platoon of AATs." Bandit says. "All of them with the yellow symbol."

Your gut crumples in on itself.

"You do not me-"

"I bloody well wish I was wrong, but it's true." Bandit states solemnly. "The AAT with the nuclear warhead we met in Jaxx is back, and it brought some of its friends."

More red bolts fly through the air around you, causing you to flinch back.

The battle is not won yet. You still have Separatists to purge, after all.

Correct. After nearly dying, his response was to make a dick joke. If he had rolled a 1, his final words before he died in your arms would have been a dick joke as well. Threes is a classy motherfucker, you see.

>>45189889
Kissing may be considered professional if you rationalize it well enough. The most unprofessional thing you could do to Carla would be to hold her hand. Also, not killing another of her family members? Well, we'll just have to see about that, won't we?

Only female Jedi padawans are for lewds, no one else.

I'm curious: When do you all think you, or members of your "company," could have been killed? As per usual for Jinx, you were all very luck and chose your decisions as wisely as you could, I suppose.
>>
>>45190235
twitch, Xtreme always because hes insane, Phi could've taken one to the noggin or taken an anti tank round.
>>
>>45190235
When the initial ambush occurred the Saber could have been knocked out and left for dead, when the whole 'pit of spikes thing' happened and we fell in and Phi got impaled by spikes, the Saber getting hit by rockets could have gone much worse, when the soldiers were on our cockpit and they could of shot us, the whole time during the fight on the ground.
>>
Oh, and par for the course: Try and keep this thread alive until tomorrow. I will be on and off with being in thread on my phone, answering questions and the like.

>>45190297
What you are talking about is the power of cumulative bad rolls. If the Saber rolled badly during the initial ambush, then in the secondary ambush, it likely would not have survived the second direct hit. At the very least, it may not be as combat capable as it is now.

At the moment, you have taken no losses and only have a few wounded. This combat tour into the heart of the Pirates' Plateau Paradise has only begun.
>>

What do our squad members heads look like, you know, other than Jango, any tattoos, scars, hairstyles, etc?
>>
>>45191815
They're new, so I don't think they have any physical defining features yet.
>>
>>45191815
We haven't seen any of them helmetless yet besides Phi and Bandit.
Phi was unremarkable I think (or at least unremarkable enough that I don't remember).
Bandit had a thick beard and goatee, was bald and had damage spots from burns.
>>
>>45193646
and Xtreme has a bright yellow Mohawk spray painted with Xs as well, if I remember rightly.
>>
>>45191815
Phi look almost like the regular clone, but somehow is more handsome than the rest. His hait is slightly longer than the straight military haircut, giving it a wavy feel that is a popular movie scoundrel look.

Xtreme has a bright gold mohawk with a blaster burn on the left side of his neck that vaguely looks like a lopsided, crazy extended and warped X. Jinx did see this during the bar scene, but he was too focused on the sisters to really note it.

Crusader looks old fron the number of scars, both small cuts and large, jagged gashes running down the side of his face that looks like the claw of an animal attacked him. He has a short beard and goatee, though along the larger scar lines the hair cannot grow. The scared gases run from the top of his head to the left side of his chin, so his hair is kept short. You've likely seen this multiple times since he told you the story in the church, it's just a detail I forgot to include.

You do not know what either Twittch or Jackpot looks like yet. They do not seem to like to remove their helmets at all, or at least around others. If you want I could still "spoil" their look for you all if you're still curious.

Cardinal is at regulation much like yourself.

If you all want to think up ideas for future hair styles/"looks" for Jinx, feel free to.

So guys, I've been thinking of tank designs, and I think we should go with a classic WWII tank style, of having AATs with crosshairs on them drawn for all the ones we've killed and the phrase "Good Luck" below it.

Because those separatists are going to fucking need it.

Alternatively we could always paint with obnoxious red racing stripes and a random spoiler, with everyone customizing there own corner, with a fortress design on the outside, or with a completely unnecessary back fin thing, painted green to make it look like a giant ass lizard.

I feel like after this whole 'nearly falling into a pit of spikes' ordeal, that some emergency repulsor lifts would be helpful, not strong enough to lift the AT-TE fr a long period of time but enough to give it a boost to stop it falling down. Also maybe helpful if we ever get tipped over. Or that time we got stuck on a AAT. Or if we wanted to spin around real quick like.

Well you do write a pretty good quest so I'm fine with waiting.
How long has the clone wars been going on for by now? And how long do clones mature and train on Kamino before getting shipped out?
>>
>>45208463
Thank you anon!

The Clone Wars have been going on for 15 months at this point, so the fact that your crew has all stayed alive up till this point is rather amazing in clone livelihood.

Clones require 10 years to grow and be trained at their accelerated rate, though the Kaminoans all staggered your birthing groups mere months apart.

42 groups of soldiers is a lot of troopers, and still the clones are heavily outnumbered by the Separatists. Reinforcements are also getting thin across the galaxy.

Many of the younger batches will not even become fully trained until the plug on the project has been pulled due to the end of the war. Thousands of child clones will be REDACTED

This is around the point when the 1 year grown clones would be beginning to be shipped to the battlefields.
>>
>>45208979
What are your thoughts on this?
>>45206243
>>
>>45209033
While I personally like it, Jinx hasn't yet developed that level of biting sarcasm. At the moment, the name of the walker is AT-TE 7330, and he is comfortable with it.

The very concept of naming the tank is not even a thought in his mind yet.

Of course, as is absolutely everything in this quest, that may be subject to change.

Trust me, I will remember this list of names once the relevant conversation is broached in time.
>>
>>45209090
When do we put a pin-up of our redhead on the side of our tank boss?
>>
>>45209112
When the time is right. Though, you could ask her/someone about decorating the tank sometime. Simply because it is not an option in my prompts, that does not mean providing small motes of conversation in the slow moments is a bad thing to do. You still haven't asked Crusader about decorating your armor, to put things into perspective.

Events are being set into motion, though good thing Carla is safe in her hospital bed back at Shelter Base.

The base which you just left, taking basically all the vehicles and heavy armor.

Which had just had enemy forces attempt, and then later succeed, in infiltrating.

Carla is safe. Don't you worry.

There is no way a Nationalist or REDACTED would be able to get close to her, lying in a bed along with plenty of other wounded troopers.

Don't worry.

How well do you think she would have fared if she were with you right now instead?
>>
>>45209165
Do you enjoy making us suffer?
Does it give you some kind of perverse rush whenever you hint at how terrible something could be?
Carla is completely safe and secure in her bed, and nothing bad will happen to her at all.
If she'd come with us it probably wouldn't be very good considering how she was wounded and we're getting shot at by dozens of Nationalists while nukes slowly roll towards us. Do you just enjoy making every decision seem like the wrong choice?
>>
>>45209165
>How well do you think she would have fared if she were with you right now instead?

If I'm assuming correctly we're about to have nukes shoved up our asses. So I guess all I can say is trust the jedi to hold the base properly.

I also like how we're not necessarily the good guys simply because we're on the republic's side.

Now, since we have 100 posts left in this thread, here is what I propose: think up names of all the troopers in the platoon, and perhaps just clone names in general.

I'll use this thread as a resource for choosing named troopers in the future as well as the list of vehicle names that were spectacular above.

Just a reminder about Clone trooper naming conventions: designation is in the format of CT-XX/XXXX, and the troopers are generally named for an aspect of their character, their number, or both. Think up some basic frameworks for these troopers if you want, and I'll see what I can do to insert the characters into the quest!

I'll be around on and off on my phone.

I don't think I'll ever use it, so feel free to develop it in whatever direction you want.

The concepts I had weren't terribly developed, so build them however you want. Even if I were to try to run the quest, I could always aim to make the final characterization match up. In other words, they're yours.

CT-26/8546 "Clock"
He's extremely straight-laced, which is strange for someone who has been in as many battles as him. Demands that others adhere to schedules.

CT-93/7902 "Proxy"
A bootlicker.

CT-19/8461 "Clean"
His armor's always dirty for one reason or another, so he's always cleaning it. It's not an obsession or anything. Definitely not.

CT-90/3167 "Iiaa"
His nickname was given to him by one of the Kaminoans, whom came to adore him.

And a couple more I can't think of any stories for right now.

CT-44/2715 "Punchy"

>CT-13/5923 "Thirteen"
An all round good soldier whom just seems plagued by bad luck often causing effective military service seem worse than his skill suggests.

>CT-73/2749 "Tag"
Tag is a young clone whom has shown a remarkable aptitude as a sniper and spotter, still been young he is hot headed and daring though that may change in time. He keeps A tally of kills on the side of his Rifle which he is very defensive of, claiming its his "Muse".

>CT-56/8129 "Farmer"
As in bullet farmer, a store man for quite some time before times grew desperate and he was deployed, Farmer has a habit of extensively customizing his weapons with ridiculous ammo capacities and recoil compressors. Farmer is a little twitchy having been a store man he knows when he issues gear out most clones don't come back. While he is warm hearted he is also somewhat cynical. On of his more defining features his Grey painted Armour adorned with yet more supplies and pouches.

>CT-13/1291 "Fawkes"
The last surviving member of an AT-TE crew whom where cut off from their extraction point and forced to make a last stand, before detonating their own tank to try to take more of their foes with them. However Fawkes whom was only a shinnie at the time survived, abet rather traumatized. While still classed as fit for service he never wants to get back in an AT-TE again and has been moved to the infantry. Fawkes has a large burn scar across the left of his face and a short Mohawk. His Armour is painted a swirl of urban camouflage but its edges splattered with a bright orange. Fawkes is a very effective tank hunter having spent his early years in one and while refusing to get in a tank never leaves other clones to die in them as his mentors did.

>CT-63/0958 "Lancelot"
>CT-63/0958 "Galahad"
>CT-63/0958 "Merlin"
The surviving members of an AT-TE ace tank crew of the "Camelot", they had been together from their days in training until finally one fateful day their beloved tank and comrades were killed in an ambush. These three have their Armour painted dark chrome with bronze painted trims. Out of Armour Lancelot is darker than his fellow clones having spent to much time in the sun with his Armour off (don't ask), Galahad has taken a liking to growing his hair out and has a scar over his right eye, Merlin the most tech savvy of the crew and more superstitious by far has a little bit of a short beard goin on with a blue stripe down its center
