Skaven Civlization thread part 6.

We were a pack of Skaven who were enslaved by some human cultists along with some hobbits. We freed ourselves from the evil maniacs and escaped the mana wastes they were leading us in. We settled in a canyon next to a river and managed to build ourself town defended by a stone wall. Our ratmen currenly number 175 and the hobbits are roughly 85. The hobbits are rather passive and they only care for growing food, tending to our animals and living a peaceful and healthy life.

Last thread ended with us ambushing the human reinforcements on their way to the occupied lizardmen village. We slaughtered everyone and left no survivors. We learned that the humans are stretched thin around all their campaigns and that they can't afford more people to be sent at their northwestern front ( lizardmen lands )

After doing that our joint forces marched on the village and sieged it. Our shamans headed by Mengnaw casted an ice blizzard over the occupied settlement but the human warlock Zalgo broke the spell and summoned a demon to hunt down our magic users. Our two shamans died before the demon was banished by Zlatmundi's weapons infused with holy power, bestowed upon him by the Sun God.

While the fight with the demon ensued our shadowteet managed to sieze the gatehouse and open the gates.

Special Characters : Mengnaw powerful magic wielder can call forth spells from the air and water magic schools. Also has a knack for Arcane spells but will need more research or help from someone else to progress( requires materials)

Drugil : Aspiring Architect and the Main Rat who everyone looks up to. Best warrior in the town. Killed an elephant with just his stone tipped spear which made him fearless.

None but the breeding spree isn't very successful. We get like 4 new ratlings.

Meanwhile the Assault ot the gates begins.

In the downpour of the failed blizzard Zlatmundi's men are the first to break into the settlement. There they are met by what was left of the first force of the humans.

Most of the humans are missing limbs or are wounded but they have boobytrapped the place and the rushing lizardmen quickly give casualties before they overwhelm the defenders.

Someone roll me to see if our shadowteeth can locate and assasinate Zaldo the human warlock before he regains his powers after the ritual to summon the demon

Our shadowteeth manage to kill the human warlock but at a great cost. We lose all but 7 of our shadowteeth in the attempt.

Meanwhile we retake the settlement. Our joint forces massacre the humans. Some of them throw their weapons down in a gesture of surrender.

We give the prisoners to Zlatmundi and he just executes them after tending to his men.

Meanwhile our shadowteeth found the workings of the warlock they bring them to Mengnaw. They contain demonology rituals and such. Zlatmundi sees the scrolls and grabs them from the hands of the shadowtooth. He approaches a fire and tries to burn them.

How does Mengnaw react.

Zlatmundi says that such foul sorceries should not stain our minds. He makes the sign of his god. Now that we have retaken their settlement our contract is done.

He promises that in two turns we will have our steel weapons and tools. Along with a bounty of gold coins and a couple of sacks of wheat and apple seeds.

Zlatmundi thanks us from the name of his people and the Sun God.

I say we should go home and fill up the holes in our army. We lost a lot of good men (and women) and the best weapons and armor are worth nothing if you don't know how to wield them.
We should especially restock on shadowteeth. The group did their best and brought the decisive victories in this war.

Meanwhile Drugil and Mengnaw return with the spoils of war. They are greeted as heroes. Sadly some of the skaven don't see their family members returning.

95 new normal ratlings are bor. Also a couple magic attuned ratlings are born. Some of them are even both water and air attuned which is good. Mengnaw takes the magic able ratlings into his custody and stats training them

Normal ratlings mature in 2 turns. Shaman ratlings will mature in 4 turns.

Yes our cooking is automaticall adjusted. The apples and wheat seeds help in many kinds of ways. The wheat provides straw for the elephans and horses to eat besides corn. It also provides flour for bread and different sorts of wheat dishes. Apples are a tasty snack for both ratmen and horses.

Mengnaw and Drugil along with their vanguard of 10 shadowteeth and 10 soldiers make their way to the windmill.

There they meet Zlatmundi. He offers them gifts of golden torques and other similar lizardmen jewelry ( but made to fit skaven obviously ). And he asks us if the ratmen of the canyon would convert and start worship the same god as the lizardmen of the lakes.

What is our answer

I guess we will at first let them send missionaries before we start building a temple. See if the people take the religion up. So Zlatmundi is pleased with our answer and says that missionaries will soon start arriving. When the first ones come they open a stall on the main plaza of the town and start giving away different golden trinkets. The shiny appeals to some of our ratmen and they take them up.

The gift Drugil recieves from Zlatmundi of the lake for his help in the war of the south.

Btw we now have around 30 dogs which we can use for hunting and if we train our people to use them we can employ them into battle too. Also they are good for tracking stuff and finding hidden enemies. Camp defense and other useful things.

After giving the idea some thougth Drugil asks the lizardmen to call priests from their homeland and help him with the construction of a temple dedicated to the sun god. Not much time passes before the missionaries arrive with carts loaded with gold and other holy objects. The construction begins soon after the priests tell the general idea of what a temple building is supposed to be like.

Our magnificent temple rises fast and soon becomes the tallest building in our town. It is connected with the main plaza via a boulevard lined with olive trees and different flower beds.

we now number over 275 ratmen with 120 Hobbits living behind our walls. The everyday tasks keep everyone preoccupied and the town is brimming with life.

Out military experts remember that we had problems entering the fortfied village and if it wasn't for the storm from the blizzard our shadowteeth would have probably failed to infiltrate the walls. We have now designed the Siege Ram. ( a house like cart that protects from arrows .)
