Skaven Civilization Quest part 5

We were a pack of Skaven who were enslaved by some human cultists along with some hobbits. We freed ourselves from the evil maniacs and escaped the mana wastes they were leading us in. We settled in a canyon next to a river and managed to build ourself town defended by a stone wall. Our ratmen currenly number 175 and the hobbits are roughly 80. The hobbits are rather passive and they only care for growing food, tending to our animals and living a peaceful and healthy life.

Last thread ended with us training and breeding rigourously for the upcoming war we will participate in. We agreed to help the llizardmen headed by Zlatmundi of the Lake and his people who live further south of us.

Next turn we should send our military upriver and into lizardmen territory to fight against the vile human slavers.

We send our full forces. Only the younger growing rats are left behind.
We load the now 5 carts full with food and military equipment and we march towards the windmill. Our army meats the Zlatmundi of the lake and he is overjoyed to see us show with such a big force. Our army is arranged in phalanxes and is lead by Drugil and Mengnaw, who is followed by his 2 shamans.

Zlatmundi tells us to follow his lead and we march of south into the forest.

Meanwhile 30 ratmen are left back home.

What do they do:
A) Try to breed. (consumes double food)
B) Train Army - we are at max army capacity. -------
C) Build/Make ( buildings/weapons-tools) (specify) (needs resources) (also needs architects if it is complex)
D) Gather resources (one of these)
D1) Hunt Meat
D2) Help With Farming

Our 30 ratmen help the hobbits with the farming

With our ratmen out oof town we produce roughly 8 turns of worth per turn. But due to nobody being home we doubled that this turn

We now have 18 turns of food left.

Meanwhile we got 2 new horses and 1 new elephant due to the good. Roll. Also we now have 15 dogs.

Our armies arrive down south at the main lizardmen town called Tizca. The slums with the hungry are everywhere. These people barely get enough food to eat.It appears they are short on dogs because the have started slaughering the animals for food.

Zlatmundi's plan is to retake on of their settlements to the east.

Making up the map in a second
>>
>>45156956

What do we do.

Take Zlatmundi's advice and head east.

Head south where our shadowteeth found another ruined lizardmen settlement.

Btw Tizca has stone walls simlar to our walls. There are wheat fields and apple orchards. And now they have an Elephant ranch too.

>>
>>45157057
Combine our forces together and head east. Split the shadowteeth sending a quarter to the ruined lizard men settlement and the rest ahead to find the humans.
>>
>>45157096
Zlatmundi says he has around 200 lizardmen capable of fighting

100 Swordsmen
50 archers
40 Heavies wielding big steel shields
20 priests that heal by using the power of the sun god.

They give us the reforged steel armors they promised in return for our help.

We now have steel spears and bows. And steel skaven sized armors
>>
>>45157138
Zlatmundi says that the filthy humans have occupied the lizardmen settlement. Though the lizardmen bloodied them heavily before they were forced to retreat.
>>
>>45157546
March on the settlement then. Send the Shadowteeth in to mess up there camp first, disrupting supplies and killing leaders.
>>
>>45157596
Seconded, Send in the scouts in the dead of night to fuck with their shit. Meanwhile, at out settlement, use some of our smart skavens that are at home to prospect the local ground for minerals
>>
>>45157138
>>45157096
Drugil decides to send ou r shadowteeth in first to seek any weak targets out of the settlement. They return with the news that the humans have erected a wooden palisade around the village. and have guards on the walls at all times.

Sending a few arrows towards the guards they kill a few but this only makes them more alert. The Shadowteeth who infiltrated the settlement say that the humans respect reinforcements soon and that they are being led by an evil warlock named Zalgo.

>>45157658
We have a bronze ( tin and copper ) vein that is on the surface but it is slowly being used up. We should consider making tunnels into the ground to reach the other parts of the vein.
The Lizardmen are willing to trade us steel tools and such if they survive the war.
>>
>>45157744
Make a B line for the reinforcements and ambush them while they're heading for the village
>>
>>45157744
The humans seem to number around 230. Some of them are not combat capable due to missing limbs and being crippled.

The lizardmen don't have this problem because they can regrow their missing parts.
>>
>>45157788
What does a B line mean
>>
>>45157788
>>45157903
B line means take plan B, and using our scouts, find a preferable ambush point before the reinforcements make it to the settlement, where we shred them to pieces before they're safely within the garrison. I don't know how long we can siege the town for, and if the reinforcements make it there before we can take it, we're in for a rough ride. Also, the warlock might be able to raise the dead
>>

Attack the reinforcements before they arrive

Here is the map. The reinforcements are expected to come from down the dirt road and through the river.
Where do we make our ambush?
>>
>>45158136
Abush them as they cross the river, sneak the lizard men across further up the river and have them ambush them from behind as we attack them as they cross. Fire arrows first and then meele. Have the shadowteeth target the human leader but leave some behind to ensure no human leaves the settlement.
>>
>>45158185
>>45158136

We send our troops and split them up awaiting for the ambush. Our ratmen scout the crossing and find nothing unusual.

Zlatmundi agrees to the plan and hides on the other side of the river, while Drugil and his ratmen take the northern side.

Everything is ready and done. After some days the reinforcements arrive. Around 250 humans arive at the crossing. They have about 50 horsemen 70 peasants with no amor and flimsy weapons and tools. About a hundred footmen with swords and shields and 30 archers. They are being lead by a knight in golden trimmed armor.

The ambush starts and the humans are surprised. The arrows fly and our spearmen charge into the crossing knights. Zlatmundi and his men spring behind the humans and lock them into a chokehold. The human leader rallies his troops with partial success.
The fight is raging everywhere. Most of the peasants try to run away and are quickly greeted with an arrow in their backs. Once some form of control is regained the humans start fighting back but they realize they are going to die if they don't break out of the ambush. Their leader tries to form a force and back through the lizardmen.

What is left of the humans soldiers starts putting up a fight. We manage to slaugher many of them but they also kill some of ours.

We lose 30 spear warriors and zlatmundi loses 40 lizardmen but we manage to kill over 190 humans. With the peasants slaughtered to the last man and a few remaining knights and swordsmen their leader tries to escape

Zlatmundi's heavies meet with the human soldiers in a clash of shields and blades. Our archers shoot them in their backs. Zlatmundi's forces manage to annhilate every one of them but at the costs of severed limbs and more dead from their side. Mengnaw and his shamans isolate the human warrior and pepper him with water bolts until a group of lizardmen slaughters his guards. He charges at the lizardmen but a stray arrow hits him in the throat and he dies before he can be saved.
We have lost 20 more ratmen and 25 lizardmen but all of the humans are dead.

No survivors. The river runs red from the slaughter. Some of their horses survived though. +10 trained warhorses and about 30 useful horse bodies that can be salvaged for food and hides.

We start picking useful things from their bodies. The lizardmen let us take the steel weapons and armors.

Also there are 7 carts full of provisions which will last our combined forces for 10 turns.

Overall the outcome of the fight was in our favour though we suffered some losses.

We rush of to bury the our and their dead.

After the battle Mengnaw finds a bag of scrolls with plans for the upcoming invasion.

The plans were about cutting all of the supplies of the Lizardmen and their other settlement up north In the mountains. It is where they get their game meat from. After that the idea was to starve them and after some time to annihilate them.

>>
>>45161457
Can our shadowteeth somehow enter there unseen? We only need a few, if not a single one to open the gate so we can take them by surprise.
Otherwise, we might try negotiations. Lots of new workers and such. Or is our/the lizardmen's hatred against humans too big already?
>>
>>45161457
Let's build some siege ladders and maybe a ram aswell. Wait for a couple of turns and see if we can demoralize/poison thwm somehow
>>
>>45161528
We have bee venom poison and the shadowteeth are trained in it's use. Though the lizardmen strong oppose the poisoning of any fresh water source. And i doubt if we have enough bee venom to poison the whole lake.

Mengnaw and his two shamans can pull that off easily. He can weave water and air with the help of his two apprentices and form a blizzard to rain upon the settlement. Though he suspects the warlock will try to stop it in some way.

A ram and ladders are easily doable

The lizardmen are sworn enemies with the humans.
