You take a deep breath as you assess the situation.

In front of you are five enemies. Kakuzu, and his four masked shadows. They've taken the shape of four familiar Sound ninja. You're told that they have both the jutsu they had in life, and the elemental techniques you saw before. You try to recall exactly what their capabilities were.

The large one, Jirobo was his name. You don't recognize the mask he has on from last time, so it must be Earth. You remember him using Earth jutsu anyway.

Kidomaru you remember quite well. You were locked in combat with him for quite some time as fired his arrows at you. You recognize the mask from last time as the Lightning one.

Next is Sakon. He could enter people's bodies and control them from the inside. He's wearing the Water mask.

The last one is the girl, who you never saw much of. Shikamaru told you she used sound based genjutsu. She's wearing the Wind mask.

That likely means that the heart in Kakuzu right now is Fire.

A quick glance tells you that Enma, Akatsuchi and his golem are handling themselves just fine against Hidan, keeping him constantly on the defense. They might be able to finish up and offer you assistance soon, but for now they're occupied. You have no way of knowing how the others are handling their fights either.

The Kidomaru shadow jumps away as the Jirobo and Sakon shadows begin to close in on you, Kakuzu and the last one staying put.

You can't afford to get caught in a genjutsu right now, so taking out the Wind mask is your top priority. You waste no time flashing through the hand signs and performing a Heavenly Lance.

But this was just what Kakuzu expected.

"Fire Release: Searing Migraine!"

Kakuzu unleashes a blast of fire in your direction, and at the same time, the Wind mask releases a huge gust of wind. The two attacks mix together and cut off your Heavenly Lance, which peters out long before hitting its target.

"Your Release is a combination of Wind and Lightning!" yells Kakuzu. "As long as the two of us stand ready to shut you down, it will remain completely useless! You won't be taking a single heart as easily as you did last time!"

While Kakuzu laughs, the Sakon shadow dives at you. You easily dodge by jumping to the side, but as you land, you lose your footing. The Jirobo shadow is causing the earth to shake around you, knocking you off balance.

As you try to regain your footing, you're hit by a blast of water. It doesn't hurt you, but just afterwards, a bolt of lightning flies from the treeline and hits the puddle you're standing in, shocking you. You take another large leap to get away and catch your breath.

These guys aren't messing around. They're highly coordinated and strategized against you specifically.

Stick our fist through the genjutsu user heart. Then keep the gap closed

Water bomb them as we close in, the steam will provide a smoke screen and take out a heart, it will also soak Kakuzu ready for a follow up

You decide to head straight to Kakuzu and take him out.

You dash past the two shadows near you, and make like you're headed for the Wind mask. In anticipation, Kakuzu and the Wind mask perform their combination jutsu again.

This time, you erect a barrier. The strongest one you can manage. It just needs to hold until you can get close enough. You keep headed forwards, shielded by your barrier, your chakra waning as you try and sustain it.

Once you're close enough, you hop out from behind your barrier and the stream of wind and flames, towards Kakuzu. You don't bother with any Impact chakra this time, and just hit him with the combination of your chakra enhanced and Sage Mode strength. Despite Kakuzu's attempt to harden his skin, it should be enough to smash him apart regardless.

But your fist is stopped short. It hits Kukuzu and sends him flying backwards, but it doesn't follow through. Your lower body in engulfed in stone. You quickly break it off, then jump to dodge another blast of water and lightning.

Kakuzu gets back up to his feet, coughing heavily.

"So you're still strong without your Release, I see." he admits. "This may still be somewhat of a fight."

Now's your chance. Before Kakuzu can get back in line with the Wind mask.

You dive towards the Wind mask with all the speed you can muster, ready to completely annihilate it. It quickly blasts you with a gust of wind, which you power through.

Only too late do you realize that Kakuzu and the Wind mask are still lined up. With you directly in the middle.

"Fire Release: Searing Migraine!"

The flames hit you from behind as you continue your rush forward, mixing with the wind from in front of you to form a maelstrom of fire. It burns like nothing you've felt before, but you keep going.

You burst out from the tornado of flames and give your strongest right straight directly in the Wind shadow's mask, shattering it to innumerable tiny pieces. The shadow itself dissolves immediately afterwards.

There's no time to celebrate though, as just then your legs are once again engulfed in earth while you're drenched by water. You're too winded to avoid the lightning bolt, and are shocked again. You break the ground and jump away once more to catch your breath.

"That was pretty impressive, kid." Kakuzu tells you. "Not many ninja could power through an attack of that magnitude. And fewer still could keep fighting afterwards. Yes, I'd go so far as to say you may be the second strongest ninja I've ever fought. After the First Hokage himself."

The shadows all get ready to renew their offensive.

You generate water in your hands and throw it, getting the two shadows and the ground around them wet. You notice the lightning arrow headed for you, and attempt to transition into a barrier, but it doesn't get far.

"Fire Release: Searing Migraine!"

A burst of flame engulfs you and weakens your barrier, causing the lightning arrow to shock you as well.

The good news is that the Jirobo shadow dissolves after being hit by the attack. Unfortunately, the Sakon shadow used the flames to avoid the lightning. As soon as it was clear, it dove towards you. You feel a familiar sensation, as it combines with you. Before you can even do anything, you find that the shadow is causing you to expel water from all over your body. Getting you ready to be finished by Kidomaru.

You come up with an idea to take out both of the remaining shadows at once. Sensing around, you find where Kidomaru is hiding, and take position. Using the same trick as last time, you vibrate Sakon out of you, but this time, you expel him as fast as you can in Kidomaru's direction. You can see Kidomaru fire his lightning arrow, but he'll be too close.

However, while flying through the air, Sakon splits in two, half a mask on each shadowy figure. both of them blast water in your direction, causing an arc to be formed between you and Kidomaru. The lightning arrow is released and all four of you are shocked. The shadows dissolve, but you're in bad shape yourself. And so is Sarujizo.

"I'm sorry, boss..." he pants. "All those shocks finally got to me. I've got to go back. Good luck."

With that, the inner mask disappears from your face. Before you can get up, Kakuzu is over you, about to punch you with a hardened fist.

It smashes into a familiar stone figure. As Akatsuchi's golem crumbles, it flings Kakuzu back before falling entirely to pieces. You look back to see Akatsuchi too wounded to fight further, but Hidan is trapped in an Adamantine Prison unable to move, screaming his head off.

You get up. It's just you and Kakuzu now. No one else.

Can we pour chakra into our hook, throw it through his chest and rip out the heart with it, crushing it in our hand? Kakuzu deserves a full mortal combat.

You quickly pull out several explosive tags and hurl them in Kakuzu's direction. They all explode, but from the smoke Kakuzu emerges, having hardened his whole body.

As Kakuzu shoots his blast of fire once more, you quickly respond.

"Water Release: Tearing Torrent!"

You throw the water out to meet the flames, causing a cloud of steam to form, blocking your view. unfortunately, your water jutsu wasn't strong enough to completely nullify Kakuzu's fire, so you're forced to jump from the steam to dodge.

As you do, Kakuzu catches you, grabbing you with his extended threaded arm. He smashes you against the ground painfully.

"Your explosions are useless!" He smashes you again. "Your jutsu are not strong enough!" He smashes you again. "You have no one to help you!" He smashes you again. "And you are too hurt to fight me head on!" He smashes you again.

As Kakuzu laughs, you try to regain some strength. You have to beat him. He's right. You are tired. But there has to be a way to win.

You extend your arm back at direct the electricity down the threads, straight towards Kakuzu.

"Argh!" Kakuzu cries in pain, as he lets you go and jumps back. "Still have a bit of chakra left, I see."

"Fire Release: Searing Migraine!"

Kakuzu shoots his flames one more time, but this time you dodge easily, his attack far weaker than before. He seems to be at the limit of his chakra as well.

"So it's come to this." he mutters.

Kakuzu rushes towards you, ready to fight you head on.

Just then, there's a huge explosion that rocks the island. You can see it from here, easily the biggest explosion you've ever seen. It engulfs a huge swathe of forest in the direction that Deidara left in.

"What was that?" Kakuzu asks no one in particular, stopping his advance. "Does Deidara intend to kill us all? I better finish this now."

Kakuzu continues his charge. You feel that you too have practically no chakra left to muster. Any attempt would likely leave you immobile, so if you did so, you would have just one chance.

It all comes down to this. You get ready for one final attack. Something Kakuzu will never see coming. As you run to face Kakuzu, you start focusing your Impact chakra into your hands so the process will be faster.

You run to meet him, and he extends the threads in his arms, but you duck beneath them. Then, as you close in, you draw your sword. You quickly focus all the chakra you built up into the blade and swing it straight at Kakuzu.

He tries using his other arm to block, hardening it, but your sword cuts right through and keeps going. Cutting through Kakuzu's hardened body destroys the blade, but Kakuzu is sliced straight through his chest.

The two pieces fall to the ground, and so do you, exhausted.

"So that's it." Kakuzu mutters, spitting up blood. "After a hundred years of experience, this is how it ends. Killed by a ninja as young as yourself. I would never have imagined."

You manage to hold onto consciousness, but you won't be going anywhere for a while. You can only hope that the others are alright.

You won't be strong enough to stop him. At least I don't think so. Who knows. You may just surprise me again, kid."

With that, Kakuzu stops moving entirely.

After resting for a bit longer, you manage to stand again.

"Hey Kon, nice work on that one." Akatsuchi says. "This one had a real weird ability. As we fought, he was bleeding everywhere. I didn't think much of it, but over time I guess he formed some kind of ritual circle. He stood in it and stabbed himself, and it hurt me too. Luckily, I bumped him and kept him from hitting his heart. So, I'll be okay. This guy though, nothing phases him. It's like he can't die. Once his skin patterns faded, I tried stabbing his heart, but he just keeps screaming. I don't know what to do with him."

You look over to the caged Hidan, and he's still screaming.

"When I get out of these bars, you're all fucking dead!" he screams. "Just you wait, I'll kill you all!"

He definitely doesn't look close to dying.

You walk over to the cage and draw a kunai. It's messy, bloody work, but you manage to separate Hidan's head from his body, Hidan screaming all the while. When you're finished, you give the head to Enma and tell him to get it to the Hokage.

Once that's done, you cover Hidan's body in explosive tags. The result is its complete annihilation.

Akatsuchi says he's still uneasy, and needs some time to rest, so you leave him to it. Your chakra is still a bit too low to heal him right now.

You know, when you think about it it's really quite worrying that Hidan can make noise even with his head cut off from his lungs. Hell, the decapitation almost certainly severed his vocal cords, too, so even if he could move air through there it still should just be a wet gurgle. You decide that you won't be much use anywhere else as you are, so you stay with Akatsuchi and rest to regain your strength.

After a while, you feel well enough and get to work healing Akatsuchi. It only takes a few minutes, after which Akatsuchi is good as new.

The two of you are about to decide what to do next, when a man bursts through the forest at an astonishing speed from the direction of the giant explosion, his body surrounded by lightning.

"Where's B?" the Raikage asks, clearly enraged. "You two! I don't know what you're doing here, and I don't care! Where are those damned Akatsuki and what have they done with B?"

You start by explaining that you and your team followed Deidara here, then fought four Akatsuki members. You tell him that you and Akatsuchi defeated two of them, but the other two went in other directions and had to be followed by your other team members.

"Deidara went in the direction you came from, Lord Raikage, and he had B with him." you say. "But there was a huge explosion, and I don't know what happened. Kisame went that way, and they might still be fighting."

"There was nothing in that direction." the Raikage explains. "Nothing but the turtle's bare shell. I still don't know how Akatsuki found this place. It was supposed to be impenetrable!"

The three of you head off in Kisame's direction and manage to find the others. All of them. The entire rest of your team and B are all here. There's no sign of Kisame, save for his sword which for some reason B is now holding, while he sits and relaxes.

"What's up bro?" B starts. "How's it flow? Can't help but notice you got here slow. I think you might need help stayin' in the know."

The Raikage reprimands B for mocking him, but you can tell he's glad to see him alright. After being informed that all for Akatsuki members were defeated, his expression gets a whole lot better.

You look around. Everyone is safe, and all the Akatsuki members are defeated. You're almost surprised that thongs went as well as they did. You decide to enjoy it for now, since you know that even more trouble could be looming on the horizon.
