Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

And now without further ado.
>>
The morning was still young and it allowed you a brief moment of silence upon the field where the next week’s events would take place. By mid afternoon the field would be filled to capacity, smallfolk of your lands, merchants from abroad and local alike, and the clatter of steel, the voices of hopeful Knights and Squires. Morning dew still hung upon the grass, leaving an imprint of your footsteps behind you, soon to be washed away by the sunrise, You hear the beginning of mornings, fire and the sizzling of bacon reaches your nose, a rather hungover Knight passes by your, giving a stiff incline of his head. You chuckle to yourself, fixing the onyx cufflinks that you found amongst your things from Essos a few days prior. Leaving through the menagerie of tents you find yourself within Gawen’s stables, you see far more gold here than you did upon your return to Steadhold. Young horses remind you of the first time you had met Goldsong, they inherited his calm, the black stare, quiet noises. Plucking a sugar cube from the bucket you feed a particularly young one, a female you had taken a liking too, one of his from the latest stock. She takes it from you happily, pushing her head against your hand. Perhaps you would keep her for yourself…

“Mornin’, Milord,” Gawen’s voice interrupts your thoughts, and you turn your head to regard him.

“Good morning Gawen, good to see you, how fares your son?”
>>
“Well Milord, the Hayfords be treating him well, told me they are considering taking him on full time,” he says, checking off things on his list as he walks down the stable towards you, “Wouldn’t be against it me self, he needs the experience before he takes over for me, I figure.” You chuckle and he stops next to you, examining your girl, looking at her teeth and clicking his tongue, “Best not spoil ‘er Milord.”

“She’s a good one Gawen. Put her in my personal stable, perhaps she’ll be her father’s successor someday.”

“Very well Milord,” the elder horsemaster responds, unclicking the lock and taking her, though before he’s out of earshot he stops and turns back to you, “Milord? May I be honest?”

“Of course Gawen.”

“Your boy. He’s a good lad. Helps around a bit the stables. Mite… Naive. My boy, he knows the world will never be at ‘is fingertips. He accepts it, embraces it. Glad to be in the company of a fine House and Lord. Your boy-”

“Thank you Gawen,” you interrupt, catching his eye with a glance.

He stiffens, and gives you a bow, “My apologizes Milord. Enjoy the Squire’s Melee today.”

---

The hum of the crowd reminds you of Essos, of the cities of Myr and Lys, and of your month in King’s Landing, the cheers, the yells of support. You sigh, cracking your neck in a roll. Ser Dontos Malroy is to your side, dressed in his full armor, the onyx with golden trim, the purple cloak upon his shoulders dusted from the dirt of his trial by combat. He gives you a nod, running his free hand through his short hair, the silver of stress upon his temples bristling to the touch. You hear the voice of the crier, calling attention to the grandstand. Titles, names, lineage, accomplishments, you hear them all, until finally…
>>
“Ladies and Lords! Folk both high and low! I urge you in welcoming to the grandstand, the Lord of House Malroy and Steadhold, and the man behind the next week of revelry! LORD BRYNDEN MALROY!”

The cheers deafen you, they call your name, and you take it in. Breathing in deeply, arms out stretched for quiet, but a smile spread across your face. Before you is a mass of young men likely no more than 80, some boys even, in mismatched armor and arms, Squires all. Given a chance at greatness upon the opening day, a small prize, 200 Dragons, a lesser horse, and if they proved themselves worthy, a Knighthood with subsequent entry into the Grand Melee in the days prior. You raise a hand allowing them to rise, their looks ranging from nervous to fierce. You spy Grant Conklyn among them and Robb Brax, the young man with the Westerlands envoy. The crier calls their attention and they break, taking positions about the field as he explains the rules of the Squire Melee. First blood, last man standing.

You sit; Dontos to your left, Mason taking his spot to your left, but to your direct left an empty seat, belonging to someone who was not yet here. Below you Lucas and Racheal, among others of your Household. Looking out among the stands you see the various Knights, Lords and Ladies that had attended, all watching eagerly. The Crackclaw Point Lords together, Lord Conklyn with his wife. There was a chance to speak with others if you so wished while watching the event.

He'll be watching the melee with an unmatched expertise, and I want to know who the truly talented ones are in the fray.

Also we haven't spoken with him in a while and Dontos is based.

About the tourny and knights/squire.

I dont think talking about our sister in the open like this is a good idea. But do tell him we have good news for later.

Good point, have we not shown him Isis' letter yet?
>>
>>44961327
No. Making friends with the Cracklaw Point Lords took up most of our time so we didnt get to do it.

Is Dontos participating in the melee?

I mean, if so, we just tell him right before he suits up and let him loose. Might be a few extra deaths but Dontos is already a beast of a fighter without being dosed up on righteous fury.

Not yet.

He is not.

Gotta feel a bit sorry for her. Bet she bragged to everyone in her sewing circle about how the handsome rogue Brynden Malroy is totally courting her.

>>44961596

I feel terrible for her. But she's Arryn's pawn, and marrying her would already be committing infidelity on account of the fact that the Hand would have us bent squarely over the table on his solar.

Bit of a slow stop. Alright we'll talk to Dontos, hopefully more people will show up as we go on.
>>

Is Brynden set to participate or is it considered bad form for the host to enter the melee?

A calm settles in about the crowd, watching the young men and boys take their positions. You watch Grant rolling his shoulders, he perhaps looks the most complete of the squires here. Meanwhile Robb Brax looks the fiercest, using a blunt greatsword, without a shield upon his arm. Watching them line up you note the nervous few banding together in a corner, the more brazen alone. You wave a hand towards Dontos and he takes the extra step to be within your earshot, “Brynden.”

“Uncle. What do you make of the field?”

He grunts, “Mixed, nephew.”

“How so?”

“Among the squires, there are perhaps, five that are worthwhile. The rest, too young. The others simply aren’t ready. Grant will make a fine showing no doubt. The Brax son as well. There’s a lad from King’s Landing with Ser Hotho Rambton and two others I haven’t the names of off the top of my head.”

He quiets a moment, readjusting himself and looking out over your shoulder, his eyes catching upon the same thing your own has, the flag held high. All eyes upon it. You feel him stiffen, memories coming closer than he would have preferred. The moment, it is tense. When it drops, all hell breaks loose. Robb Brax dashes across the field, towards a boy that loses his nerve almost immediately. You notice Grant taking up against the King’s Landing lad that Dontos mentioned.

“And of the Knights?”
>>
He scoffs, “Less mixed. Too many bas- Ahem. Baseborn sons,” you flash him a look and he shifts uncomfortably, “My apologizes Brynden. But they… They come in droves to you. They hear about Ser Mason and your son. Assume they can make a name for themselves in a Household so… Forgiving.”

“They are men all the same Dontos. And if they prove their valor on the field, then they will be given place.”

“Of course nephew,” and he quiets again.

Brax has absolutely shattered three of his opponents in the time you had spoken. The opening of the Squire’s Melee had thinned out the herd significantly. Grant is still tied up with the Kingslander, but they occasionally stop to muscle out anyone that attempts to intervene. A boy with a mace is going to absolute town upon another with a large oaken shield. You can feel Dontos’ presence over your shoulder, shifting his gaze about the field. Eyes fixated upon the major conflicts his tongue still, waiting for your next topic.

>The Zamoyos and other streams are home to crocodiles, swarms carnivorous fish capable of stripping a man's flesh in minutes. The continent is also swarming with stinging flies, venomous snakes, wasps and worms that lay their eggs beneath the skins of horses, hogs, and men alike. Basilisk Point is full of the eponymous animals, some of which are twice the size of lions. Well it's why historical Europeans went to historically disease-and-parasite riddled parts of the globe. A few pounds of spices paid for the whole expedition. You don't ask why someone would do something so dangerous when even the cabin boy makes enough to open his own shop when he gets back.
>>
>>44963167

That'd actually be a pretty fun quest idea in the ASOIAF setting. I have no idea what system you'd use to run it, because the RPG doesn't cover anything relevant, but still. Could be fun.
>>
Meta question - could Rogue Trader be overhauled to serve as a system for a merchant-centric quest in the ASOIAF-verse?
>>
You cast a glance back and notice Victus isn’t with Dontos as he usually is, likely the latters doing, not that you particularly liked it, but you understood. Gawen had gotten your mind turning on your son, as little as you liked to admit it.

“Dontos, tell me something, how does Victus’ training fare?”

Shifting again to watch the Brax boy clobber another with the pommel of his greatsword he speaks after a moment of thought, “Well enough. His swordwork is improving, trying to beat your poor form out of him is perhaps the toughest task.”

“Beat?”

“Not literally nephew,” he responds uncomfortably.

Grant looks to have gained the upper hand on the Kingslander, taking a few good overhand chops at him before swinging his shield into his face to a spray of crimson that elicits a reaction from the crowd. He shakes his head, allowing his helmet to fall before moving onto the mace wielding lad.

“His prayers are remembered. If he continues he could be anointed. Remove the tai-” he stops gaining composure, “I cannot speak to more though Brynden. He attends his lessons with Benjin. And I do believe your Myrman is still teaching him that strange tongue, better learning Valyrian if you ask me. And archery? Your domain.”

“He’s learning from the best Dontos.”
>>
“I couldn’t deny such. However. I could do for a suggestion if you wish to see him go further. He is your… Son.”

“Noted Dontos.”

Grant is looking far worse for wear now, the lad with the mace is taking it to him unlike any other, yet the majority of the wear is upon his shield, hanging loosely from his arm now. He falls to the ground to dodge a broad sweep of the mace, landing poorly on the arm and you know he is hurting from the way Lady Racheal whinces. He rolls to the left avoiding another heavy blow coming down to crush his breast plate leaving the shield behind and pressing himself up to his feet with great urgency. Now two handing his sword he takes the fight back to the other, brutalizing his wide open guard. He hacks into his arm, the mace falling to the ground after three blows. On the backfoot now the other lad attempts to pull his shield as his last line of defense but Grant is too quick, taking a swinging strike that rings his head collapsing the boy in an instant. The crowd again cheers and you nod in approval, watching the field lessen to a handful now.

“Dontos, want do you think of the Crackclaw Point Lords?”

“Much and less nephew. They are considered backwards by many, too busy fighting each other in their murk and mire. Why?”

“I believe they would make fair allies.”

Your hear the rasp upon his pommel as he thinks, “They were… Loyal nephew.”
>>
To the Targaryens you think, knowing the emotions associated with the name. You twist your face, watching again for a moment before speaking, “I’m aware Dontos. But they are worried, Celtigar is a threat to them still. Their words to Lord Stannis falling upon deaf ears. Less fighting in murk and mire, and more coming together against a common enemy.”

“And they want you with them Brynden?”

“In a sense. Opinion?”

Again silence, the roar of the crowd being the only thing you could hear. Brax is fighting off two others right now, taking a strong roll to the corner in response to a swinging blow. Dontos licks his lips and speaks, “If we can get them to fight each other less, and instead focus on a common enemy perhaps fair allies. Bound by want? Words are wind and a handshaken can be forgotten without proper reason for it to be maintained.”

You frown, not entirely sure.

>>Suggestions for Dontos on Victus’ training?

Wanted him to learn stewardship so if the day may come he gets his own knightly house he can rule it.

>Suggestions on how to bind the Crackclaw Point Alliance to you?

We got a cousin. While it is not a strong marriage-alliance it is still better than words.
>>
>>44963395

>Suggestions for Victus

Keep the boy on a martial bent. I understand why stewardship is tempting, but actually being able to hook Victus up with land and titles is a longshot at absolute best. He should be prepared as possible for the fields, because that is his most likely destination.

>Suggestions on the Crackclaw Alliance

Float the cousin marriage, but keep in mind that even if the marriage pans out it's not strong enough on its own. Maybe with some economic investment we'd be able to assist the Crackclaw Lords with building up a better infrastructure on the peninsula, which would make their own lives easier, leave them somewhat indebted to us, AND increase the efficacy of trade with those Houses should we pursue it.
>>

Father said that he could become a very well rounded person. So i dont think it would affect him too much
>>
>>44963570

You're entirely missing my point. I'm not saying he doesn't have the capability to become an excellent steward, I'm saying he'd have next to no opportunity to actually put those skills to use due to his status as a bastard.

I honestly really want to give him Redwards tower. Anyone complains fuck 'em he'll be the head of a knightly house under our true born and Redwards hopes and dreams vis a vis him owning our land via his child in our sisters belly are turned about completely.

I want it, too. Doesn't stop it from being a near-impossibility.

Would you rather he die in battle due to being undertrained simply because you fixated on a longshot goal for him? Nine out of ten chance Victus winds up being pushed into some sort of martial duty, one in ten he actually gets to steward anything.

I'm more focused on keeping the boy alive than pursuing farfetched dreams.

Accounting is always useful unless we want him to be on the lowest track of wherever he ends up. Near-impossibility unless he is able to rally an unlikely amount of support from a culture that is inherently distrustful of bastards. Low. Well from his father at least, even Brynden knows how dangerous that could be.

Another Lord that he's proven his worth too? Good chance.

Really depends on where he ends up. With Obella around, you could very well keep him at home and he'd become a Household Knight. Assuming he doesn't inherit his father's adventurous side.

As an aside, I'd still be surprised to see Redwatch Tower to make it out of this intact at all.

It all depends on how we end up voting regarding our nephew or niece. If the "argablarg murder our family" crowd doesn't get their way it'd be a bit awkward when we told them "oh yeah you WOULD have a lordship but we kinda destroyed it."

Really hoping for a niece because betrothing her to victus would solve so much!

Victus deserves something like this. Being a Lord in Westeros is a colossal pain in the ass.

When the time comes he will be old enough to make that choice himself more or less. Atleast we can do is teach him the talents he will need for it.

Success as a sellsword in Essos means beating the piss out of Dothraki for a few years before making a name for yourself and retiring in a Pentoshi estate that is quite literally overflowing with exotic whores.

Success as a Lord of Westeros means embroiling yourself in a hilarious volatile political climate, brutally swindling and back-stabbing your way to the top of the ladder, and dying years earlier than you ought to due to coronary complications brought on by constant and justifiable paranoia. Also you must use your own children as cyvasse pieces or face the entire destruction of your House.

Go to Essos, Victus. This muddy piece of shit not!Britannia just ain't worth it.

The Seven do not smile upon those of transient faith.
>>
Grant is kneeling heavily off to the side of the ten other competitors, Brax has managed to beat down one of his opponents, blood dripping from his temple and his eyes without light. A concussion more than likely. You’re glad more than just Benjin will be overseeing the injuries in the next week. Robb’s sword swings wildly in an overhead chop, crippling his opponents shield arm and producing a scream and he falls to the side clutching it, begging him off. Brax plays to the crowd and they rally behind him. A sort of line has formed between the squires, five on each side, all battered and bruised, tired as hell. The smallfolk reveled in it, but you could see the pained expressions on a few of the Knights around you. Training to be redone. time to heal, as if their own time had been wasted.

“Dontos if I may suggest for Victus. Lady Elionwy, she has the head for numbers in the Household. Have him visit here. Learn some stewardship, Seven knows it might have done me some good.”

He scoffs, “My brother tried Brynden. You refused to visit the Seneschal, he was boring you would whine. My hope is he gains less of that from you,” he clears his throat, “And the Point Lords?”

You chew on the thought a moment, watching the crowd chant for the fighting to resume. The two sides look at each other, the crowd noise coming to a peak and they charge, smashing into one another. A boy in blue takes a bad lash to the side from a sword and he crumbles like paper. Brax is taking his time getting into the fray, and Grant is favoring his side mighty heavily.

“Wesley.”

“The Hayford boy?”

“He’s still a son of a Noble House, Dontos.”
>>
“And not ours to give, Lord Winston might agree if you can convince him. But his brother, Samuel was it? He would never agree. Wouldn’t see the benefit in it. And he’s merely your cousin, on your mother’s side at that. Not a direct connection to us.”

“The Hayfords specialize in grains, furs and leathers,” you pause watching Brax ring another in the head, “The Point is in need of processed materials, and always could use grain. We convince him it would be to his benefit to open trade relations with them, sealing it with a marriage to the Crackclaw Point Alliance. We provide financial aid on the outside, building infrastructure, such as roads, trade routes. Investing in their ports. All the while building a military relief force between ourselves and the newly introduced Hayfords to the alliance, to tip the scales should the Celtigars ever attack.”

Dontos shifts, his hand clearly rasping upon his pommel again, “Have you spoken to Lord Wins-”

“No. Not yet. But he is here. I wanted to get our opinion Uncle.”

“I… Approve Brynden. It is… Grand in scale. I didn’t think you would be… Be the type for such plans. I should have seen otherwise after the way Steadhold had been rebuilt. Thank you for including me.”

“Of course Dont-” you’re cut off from finishing by Lady Racheal’s scream. You see Grant sprayed out across the field. Bleeding from his mouth, but not dead. He’ll live you note. Over him stands Robb Brax, panting heavily, holding his side. The greatsword upon the ground. Two others are fighting behind him still, and he glances over his shoulder smirking.

“We could speak to him now Brynden, if you wished?” Dontos suggests, watching Lady Racheal and Lucas leave the grandstand in a hurry.

“Mason, get Benjin to Grant, immediately,” you say, watching the boy roll onto his side and cough up blood.

“Understood. Yondril, Yanno on me,” Mason replies and he leaves off quickly.

You glance over and see Lord Winston Hayford sitting with his sons, Wesley and Samuel. The latter has a look of disdain worn upon his face, as the former speaks lively about the Melee and his parts in it. Lord Winston looks happily between the field and his second son and you nod to Dontos, “Yes Uncle, let’s speak with Lord Winston. At least to see if we can get him on board with the idea. Later we can bring everyone together and hammer out the finer details.”

“Of course Brynden, a moment,” he waves with his free hand and one of the pages appears behind him, a whispered word and a narrow look sends him off in a hurry.

Meanwhile, the other two contestants have finished with each other, leaving a lad that looked nearly grown, with a sword and shield, clothed in gold and white, still standing. Brax has gathered himself, still favoring his side, but holding his greatsword across his chest all the same. The crowd has chosen their sides, roaring in approval of the two squires dueling it out until the very end.

Robb Brax circles, a clear limp to his leg. The other, his shield arm is limp, and he has a badly bruised eye. With a clash they meet, Brax having charged in with a strong overhead strike, the greatsword digging into the shield and near shattering it. The other takes a potshot with his sword, half-handing it and digging into Brax’s bad side. He cries out and backs off immediately the greatsword dragging behind him.
>>
>>44966182
Yes he is the squire from the westerland
>>
“He’s not a poor fighter, already took out seven others on his own, including the two by himself,” Dontos observes.

“Allows his guard to be too wide open, you’d catch him within a tilt,” you respond.

“You use to do the same.”

“And I’ve learned otherwise.”

Dontos chuckles, “Aye. You have nephew.”

They’re at it again, this time the gold and white boy on the offensive, his sword arm is doing most of the work, attempting to keep Brax on the backfoot. But he’s quick, his movements are not entirely unlike your own, in half-plate no less. He jumps and rolls away behind his opponent after a daring attack, he lands with a omph. But draws up quickly, slashing away at his opponents hurried guard. The gold and white boy falls to a knee after a particularly strong strike and you hear the crack of wood, the steel banding losing its grip on the oaken shield. The follow up rings, again, and again. Until the gold and white boy is out, his arm nursed to his side, a broken stick of steel banding having being driven in from the strikes, blood dripping from it.

The crier takes over in an instant, while a Knight in full plate rushes out to what you assume is his squire, others behind him. Brax has fallen over on his side, holding it dearly, others go to attend him and pull him up. The crowd having rallied behind him entirely. He has a smile upon his face, but is clearly out of it. They bring him close and he attempts his best to bow before you. Sweat and drool dripping from his hung head.
>>
“Brynden? How do you deem his performance?” Dontos asks from behind, “I would Knight him for it myself. But will not do so unless you allow it.”

“My Lord? May I introduce, Lord Winston Hayford, and his sons, Ser Samuel Hayford, and Ser Wesley Hayford. They’ve come to attend you as requested.”

You turn, regarding them with a quick nod.

“It would appear the day is done my Lord. Would you like to meet here, or elsewhere?” Winston asks in response to your nod.

Robb Brax?
>Allow Dontos to Knight him for his performance?

“Page, take the Lord Hayford and his sons to my solar, I’ll meet you there in a moment, my Lord.”

“Of course Lord Brynden, And it is good to see you again, nephew.”

“Likewise Uncle. Dontos?”

“Yes Brynden?”

“You may Knight, Robb Brax, it was a fine performance.”

Dontos nods but pauses before leaving, “You know. This is the first man I’ve ever knighted. The first that Steadhold has seen in years. I… Never thought I’d see this. You’ve done well,” and with that he leaves.

You sit quietly, most of the people of your Household have left by now. Rising to your feet, you take the short walk to the front of the grandstand, and raise a hand towards Robb Brax, his mentor Ser Titus Sarsfield smiling broadly at him helping him to his feet, “A well fought victory,” you call down and nods in respect and acknowledgement. His eyes turn and widen to the flourish of Dontos’ purple cape, as he draws his sword and stands before you, bowing his head. To which you gesture and allow him to continue.

“Robb Brax of the Westerlands. Kneel,” Dontos says, to the dumfounded expression of the young man, who looks more a boy in the face of a True Knight, than he had the entirety of the Melee. Ser Titus whispers into his ear and the boy nods, striking his greatsword into the ground and kneeling before your Uncle.
>>
Dontos moves the flat of his sword to his left shoulder in a gentle movement, “In the name of the Warrior, I charge you to be brave.”

To the other, “In the name of the Maiden I charge you to protect all women.

Back, “In the name of the Mother, I charge you to defend the young and innocent”

And a final time, “And in the name of the Father, I charge you to be just.”

---

Sitting alongside your Uncles, and cousins felt odd, they were family true, but all the same they felt distant, barring perhaps Dontos at times. The other side of your coin, forgotten, but not entirely out of the equation. Taking the offered drink of wine from a servant you relax into your chair, looking into the eyes of your Uncle, Lord Winston, and watching Samuel eye the painting of the Violet Plains over your head with a certain degree of… Something. You could not say. It was rare you used your solar, preferring to be about your Household for meetings, but this called for an intimate, family affair. As it soon would turn out to be if things went your way. But you had yet to decide an approach, you knew Winston was, weaker willed from your previous dealings, but Samuel was the numbers man and would need to be pacified for any of this to work. Wesley, was the wildcard, you had no idea how he would respond to the idea even remotely. Delicate situation, but not necessarily a delicate touch was needed.

How do we approach this?

I'm not sure we should start off pushing for it at all.

Frankly, it's better to present it as what it is: an option. We have been talking to lords from Cracklaw point, they'd be interested in trading and they could turn a profit and maybe get a marriage alliance out of it.

So... I guess diplomatic? But I don't see that we should get particularly involved. If we seem overeager to dictate to them, they could see it as an imposition.

Trade is trade, and worked lumber is worked lumber. Grain for wood is a solid deal considering their land should be mostly fields.
>>
>>44967314

It's an option, but the situation in Crackclaw is an imminent threat and needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later. Urgency in the face of need isn't going to appear overeager to anyone with their head screwed on straight.

There's a looming invasion of Crackclaw by an alliance that is openly antagonistic towards us. The only wrong move is to do nothing.
>>
>>44967212
>>Diplomatic, convince them this action would benefit all
Be blunt about it though, if they thing they can ride the Malroy train without pulling their parts they'll find themselves standing in the middle of nowhere. Sure they could find a better match for themselves and they are free to do so, but if they can't we cannot promise them that this option would still be on the table by the time they come back or that it will be as profitable.

“Winston, Samuel. It is good to see you both again, my apologizes for the time between our meetings. How fares the horse stock?”

“Well Brynden,” Winston responds smiling happily at the thought, “Between that and the near we’ve made with a Myrwoman by the name of Illica Van Barous our funds have near doubled. The fur-trade is strong again, and my House has prospered. Thanks to you and your connections.”

“And yet our debt remains the same,” Samuel adds sitting back into his seat and crossing his legs, “The Crown is ruthless in collecting, we make payments yes. But at the cost rebuilding Hayford and her lands.”

“It is better than we were before Samuel,” Winston remarks before turning to you with a pleading look.

“Yet my cousin here seems to flourish. At our expense, no less.”

“The trade we enacted-”

“Was entirely unfair father! Are you so blind as to not see that!?”

The room quiets after the outburst, Samuel seething in his seat, Wesley with his face in his palm. Winston has shrunk into his seat, unsure of what to say. Dontos lifts an eyebrow when you meet his eyes and you shrug in return taking the chance to speak, “Be that as it may Samuel. That is not why we’re here today. I called upon you all, my family, to present an… Idea. As of late I have come in contact with the Lords of Crackclaw Point, and their seeming, alliance.”
>>
Wesley smiles, suddenly knowing where this is going when his brother leans forward.

“They are in need of allies. They worry for a future invasion of their lands based upon centuries old claims of the Celtigars, with the Velaryons potentially at their backs. They have come together to a degree but lack the sheer size of force or economy to go to war or field an army. Wesley is aware of my… Situation regarding the Celtigars as I’m sure he’s told you. And given the rather public nature of it all, I was approached by the two Lords that have attended the Melee. Lord Crabb and Ser Brune, asking for aid in their alliance.”

“But of what degree?” Winston asks.

“Military and fiancially mostly, I can trade iron with them, possibly horses, but what good are they in the bogs and mire of the Point? My strength lies in what I can bring to the field and on the books, even in my House’s crippled way.”

“And how do we figure into all this cousin,” Samuel asks, “Or do you come to gloat about your genius business?”

“I was getting to that Samuel,” you say, eyeing him down, “They require more allies than just myself, and while I have not spoken to them of this, a House built on grain, fur, and leathers is likely of great import to the Houses of the Point. Grain to feed their armies, furs and leathers for the guerrillas and archers they so often employ. And in return? Lumber, finished product, gold. There is coin in this cousin.”

He sits back, running his finger along the lip of his glass, “We have lumber trade with the Mannings already.”

“They are but one House Samuel, we are talking five Houses all willing to trade with us. Thinking of the coin! We could expand the fields again, undo what war had wrought to the rest of our lands!” his father responds eager of the deal. Wesley watches them both, chewing on his lip. The elder brother looks unconvinced, like you are scheming behind his back untrusting in your word.

Winston: Success, two degrees.
Samuel: Success, one degree.

“Your father speaks truth Samuel. Not many Houses has chance to expand their trade network into the Point. Nor even have the chance to speak with them to such length as I have and you would as well should you consider this offer. Approach them, on your terms, speak with them about it if you do not believe me. You are well versed in matters of coin cousin, I’ve no doubt you could get the gold you require to expand and pay your debt in a matter of months.”

Samuel sinks back further into his seat, attempting to rally someone in the room to his side, but his father looks at the map of The Crownlands with eager want in his eyes, tracing a trade route he knows to Dyre Den, while Wesley gives an apathetic shrug, “So. My House provides the commerce, while yours does what? Look impressive miles away?”

“Other than. I would be able to provide money for infrastructure, the Point lacks a unified trade route, connect it directly to the Kingsroad, perhaps near Hayford, you become the middle of a new trade route into King’s Landing.”

“And so you profit from us then, by tolling the roads my men would tredge into that swampy valley?”

“I toll my own roads for profit Samuel. Not others. I would invest in the ports, no doubt, and recoup my losses through that. While, also funneling my horse trade, limited as it might be, through your Household as was promised in our original deal. You take a cut, I make a minor profit back to stay in the black. We all come out happier.”

Samuel suddenly sits forward, looking you dead in the eye, “What purpose does this serve cousin? Is this still about that shit Royce? Do you mean to go to war with him, and are using my own House as a pawn in this to gain the greater ally?”

Quiet fills the room again as you meet his gaze, the flicker of flame caught in your eyes as you attempt to keep your composure.

So, is that the truth?

"Simply, yes."

"I'm not going to lie to you. You're family. I need allies I can rely on because of that whoreson squatting on my land, and i'll do whatever is in my power to get them."

"If you want to profit from my dealings to that end, feel free. Otherwise, no harm, I just wanted to offer you the opportunity."

Ungrateful shits. Seriously.

>>44967667
I offer you this shitty OC, Anon.
>>
>>44968623
>Yes

Of course it's about that bastard son of a whore Royce, Samuel. Are you being fucking serious right now? Everything I do serves the purpose of one day being able to disembowel the coward in front of a cheering crowd. You think that my thirst for vengeance is some sort of well-kept secret? The Horselords of Vaes Dothrak likely know about it by now.

Listen here, and listen well, cousin. I am going to bleed Royce Redward dry, and I am going to do it with or without your help. You take this deal, you secure allies in Crackclaw, ensure your own defense against any encroachment by the Celtigars, and grow fat off the trade route we forge together. There might even be a marriage in it for you.

If you do not take this opportunity, it is no matter. I can, and will, find others to carry with me on my ascent.

>yes

Every action I have taken these past several months has been to skull fuck that rat into oblivion.

What matters the motivation? Is somehow the deal before you tainted because it involves revenge rather than greed? Your house gets stronger and better trade. I get allies to help wage war against him. We all profit, though there are always risks. What matters is if you think the effort is worth the risk, or if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Dontos looks to you and you nod at his pained look, understanding his want of your honesty in the situation, you sigh, and pinch the bridge of your nose, “Yes Samuel. That is the truth of it. Everything I do is because of that prick. Do you think I forget what he has done? That he killed my mother, your aunt, your father’s sister. In cold blood. This is a game Samuel, you know it, I know it, everyone in this bloody room knows it. Posturing of who is the greater piece in the game is worthless when scum like that is still allowed to live and grow fat on the teet of the Crown.”

Your cousin is taken aback, but you do not relent, feeling the unbridled rage of the past year growing in your chest, the fire of your eyes growing hot with every word, “What matters the bloody motivation Samuel? Hm? Do you think I should rather sit in my solar twiddling my thumbs? Forget what occurred? I offer you chance, as an ally, as family, as a bloody equal to enter into an alliance that will do nothing but strengthen your House. Whether you are with me in this or not, I care little. I invited your family here to benefit from the Melee, from trade it could bring words, deals, whatever have you. I invite your family to join me in a greater cause that will do nothing but help your diminishing star, but if you are too proud to accept that. Then I will find another. You are my cousin Samuel. Winston my Uncle, Wesley the same as you. I am not going to fuck you over the table, we enter into this deal as a unified force. You get the funds your House so desperately need, I gain the allies I need to extract my revenge against that shit. We all come out from it better.”
>>
Winston has gone pale, staring at Samuel whose eyes have now left your own to the table before him, the Lord speaks, “Brynden. You shame my son, for he has forgotten in his youth what fairness has meant. He forgets his tongue, and what horrors upon our family the Red Bastard has wrought. Your sister and my own, both dead. I will speak with the Lords of Crackclaw Point. As will Samuel. Is that not right son?”

“Yes, father,” he responds glumly, “I will speak with them.”

“Good lad,” your uncle says before turning to you again, face regaining color, “Tell me Brynden. How do you intend to solidify this alliance. Gold and trade deals are enough, but to make this truth, we will need something of greater import.”

Dontos takes over, knowing your seething self need calm before answering, “That is where your House comes in, again, my Lord. Hayford is in need of heirs, yes? And you’ve two sons. And we have been informed the Lord Brune of Dyre Den has a daughter. Marriage would solidify this alliance beyond reproach.”

Now Samuel turns pale and Wesley’s mouth drops, Winston responds, “Marriage? I… Yes I suppose it could be considered. But I um… Seven. Boys?”

The two Hayford sons stumble over their own words, not entirely sure as well.

“It is an option Lord Hayford,” Dontos continues, “I would not suggest it, if I would not consider it myself. Lady Chelsted and I have… Yes.”

They look unconvinced and Dontos is struggling, you decide to step in again.

It might be possible to sweeten the deal, maybe say we will match the bride's dowry to pay the wedding.
>>
Hm, I suppose it might have been a better idea to work the marriage suggestion from the other end this deal. Let brunes know that this trade suggestion is coming and point out that working in a marriage would make this whole thing that much more solid...
>>
Its an option.

Even if there was no marriage, they need us for our millitary, House Malroy would enter that alliance as the strongest participant, and we are a weakened house as it is.

That does not inspire confidence in the point houses not honouring their word, I doubt they would find another potential ally as strong as us unless word leaked out to say redward or one of the queens minions. So long as we do our part. The investment in their lands would also buy us much good will, especially if we can soothe their interhouse quarrels over time. At commencing the alliance agreement I suggest we make a big down payment for a long term project (e.g. the roads). Since this is added incentive for keeping good with us to finish the thing.
>>
>>44969507
As I said, it is an option, you could just take the trade deal and be happy with it they would too for that matter.
Write-in can help winning the few points we might need. git to it.

Wesley: Success, one degree.
Winston: Success: one degree.
Samuel: Failed.

You soothe your words, attempting to appear calm, “Winston, I’ve no family no marry myself. And if I did I do not know if I would benefit from it as thoroughly as you would. You are still my family from my mother’s side, but your House would benefit the most from a marriage to the head of the Crackclaw Point Alliance, it could only further benefit you down the line. It is an option, yes. If we secure this alliance entirely without it, all the better. But I am not entirely convinced we can.”

Wesley is the first to speak, “I would consider it father.”

Winston brightens, “It is an option nephew. I cannot say if I agree with it as of yet. I would need to speak to them, have my boys court the young Lady. Find if she is an acceptable match.”

“She is not,” Samuel states bluntly, standing in front of you, “They are no better than the swamplords in the Neck. And dragon loyalist to the last. I will not bring that sort of rot into my Household, not again. If you wish to deal with them in trade, I can accept this father. But I will not take the hand of a poor swamp girl for my cousins benefit.”
>>
I guess the marriage isn't entirely necessary, but it sure as hell cements the foundation of the deal. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with it being part of the picture.
>>
Samuel makes to leave, with only Winston making a half tried effort to stop him, the door slams behind him and his father slumps. You can see Dontos’ own rage but he keeps his lips pressed shut. Winston speaks to you after a moment, “He does not mean these words. He is proud, but forgets that our House is upon the brink. I will speak with him nephew. And we will consider, when we’ve come to our conclusions we will send word for you again, and we can all meet with a proper offer for the Lords of Crackclaw Point. Until then, I’d beg leave. I must attend to… My son.”

“Of course Uncle. You know where to find me,” you respond lightly.

The Hayfords leave, Wesley give you a look of mixed emotion on his way out and you sink into your chair, “That was a disaster Dontos.”

“These things usually are,” he responds finishing his drink in a single gulp, “Perhaps we need work upon the other side as well. Playing matchmaker is a dangerous game, Brynden. I should… Held my tongue of it.”

“No matter Dontos, we’ll see this through now. Perhaps it would be best to speak with Point Lords of the idea as well. Perhaps more subtly.”

He laughs, his plate clinking as he does so, “Yes nephew, a good idea. I will take my leave, I believe my Squire is waiting for me by the Sept. Good day Brynden.”

Alone again you playing with your near empty glass, draining the rest to attempt to get rid of the pain in your temples. You stretch and look at the painting of the Violet Plains, the golden coursers of your family running free under a skyline of sunset. Clicking your tongue you pull yourself together and leave the room, you had a feast to attend, and many more days of Melee and deals to be made.

[End Chapter XXIII]

One of them is fine. We do not need Samuel to be the groom, although I personally would prefer it be him.

We need to brainstorm ways to punch through Samuel's armor. That pride feels like a mask for something - it's excessive, unnatural. And the fact that he is staunchly anti-Targ means we have family on both sides of the fence. We need to consolidate on one side.

>We need to consolidate on one side.
Damn right we do!

In all seriousness, though, why do we? The Dragonlords are dead and gone, and their return is outside the scope of this quest*. Our best bet for the moment is to consolidate as much of the Crownlands behind us as possible, humiliate Redward, save our sister and give the Celtigars a thrashing so that they aren't in a position to become Lords Paramount of the Crownlands in all but name.

Frankly i'm curious as to what Jon has done to prevent the Celtigar power-grab. We did tell him about it, after all, that's what got us into his good graces in the first place. Operating without knowing what his plans are puts us at a disadvantage.

*Assuming that since the peace talks in Dorne went off without a hitch, we're probably sticking to canon as far as Targaryens go.
>>
>>44970486
We're probably going to become an economic monster, becoming the Lords Paramount should be relatively easy.
>>
>>44970741
Maybe. But the Crownlands are meant to be the king's land, so they don't have an official Paramountcy.

It's great because we're the king's personal vassals... but it's also kind of horrifying because we're the king's personal vassals and they might take a personal interest if we grow too strong.

We kinda neglected our military for while and went off doing daring deeds of derring-do. Other lords pegged us for a glorified mercenary captain.

The wedding, Melee, and coming Celtigar smackdown seems to have thrown that image into disarray, and we're trying to capitalize on the confusion.

And once that new, updated image gets settled we're tying Royce between two trees during the harvest festival and giving out free drinks to anyone who can hit him in the dick with a stone in three throws.

>>44991190
Yeah... They're not that great really. I'm better with homebrewing House Resources, rather than units. If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, here's the original statblock:

Arbalesters (Myrish Crossbowmen)
Power Cost: 5
Discipline Modifier: -3 in Fortifed Position, +3 in the field
Key Abilities: Agility, Awareness, Marksmanship

Starting Equipment/Upgraded Equipment:
Armor Rating: 4/6
Armor Penalty: -2/-3
Bulk: 1/2
Fighting Damage: Athletics -1/Athletics
Marksmanship Damage: Agility +3 Long Range/Agility +4 Long Range
>>
>>44991507

The concept with arbalesters is that they sacrifice some penetration for greater rate of fire, right? They need something that lets them attack multiple times in one turn, OR some sort of innate bonus against lightly armored targets they can pepper with arrows.
>>
>>44991507
>Not really feeling up to run again today, might have drank too much last night.

But seriously. How the word in Dorne, about the peace talks, Brynden and the wedding between the Qorgyle and Malroy?

She knows we're out there, that we haven't forgotten he, and when we strike she might meet us at the gate and hand us his head herself.
>>
>>44991579

>Dorne
Things are still sort of tense between the major factions. Yronwood is still ready for war, Oberyn has disappeared somewhere, Doran is holding the place together and things are starting to quiet. Their isolationist tendencies are going to begin real soon.

>Marriage
There are people that think Brynden is a poor match for Obella given her position in Doran's court, Qorgyle's prominence, and of course distance. But then again, their opinions don't matter much when the important players orchestrated the events and received their desired results.

>Obella

She's pretty happy right now, she honestly see's a lot in Brynden and their personalities gel so well that she knows she isn't going to be stiffed and fit into the 'bare foot and pregnant' role exclusively. She knows she'll be an asset to his House and himself personally and that is what she truly wanted in a husband, equal footing to a degree. Right now she's busy collecting her small Household in Sunspear and abroad and getting the preparations ready to move to Steadhold. She is likely to bring a certain... Flair with her when she moves in.

>bullying Giselle

If she had a way to contact her, she probably would send the snarkiest letter she possibly could. Obella doesn't like to lose, so when she wins something she considers a big prize she gets a bit smug about it.

>Will Isis like Victus?

She will absolutely love him. Isis has always wanted to meet Victus, so she'll be so happy to finally be able to do so.

Will we go do our dragonbone bow thing after this event?

Not to mention we still got that Cecilia thing going.
>>
>>44991754
Would be out of character, he wants her back as badly as Brynden does, maybe even more. But not so much to risk something like that.

>>44991771
As I've said before, the law is on his side regarding the Isis situation. There were no suitable persons to arrange her marriage, the Crown, as their liegelords, arranged one that was appropriate (definition varies) and a royal decree was had. If Dontos hadn't shown up, Royce would have Steadhold already. So he could literally laugh in your face, fling the decree in your face and walk away, without you doing a damn thing about it without starting a war you would lose.

It is possible to catch Royce out, in what though I won't say. But we are going to get a lot of those scenes coming up over the melee where some things are going to fall into place. So get ready for angry Brynden again.

And don't forget, Arryn has a piece of the puzzle still.

>>44991778
Yeah I think I'm going to drop that part. I assumed a Myrish Crossbow would be harder to use, but eh. It's a dumb little thing to get hung up on.

>>44991964
Of the women in Brynden's life he only knew two that were so incredibly strong willed he knew his charms wouldn't work on them. First was his mother. Second, was Isis. She's a tough girl, Royce is lucky she hasn't made a prison shiv yet.
>>
>>44992193
Speaking of Cecilia. She probably know that Brynden is back in the Crownlands, his Melee has not exactly been a subtle event. Bet she really wish he would visit. Bet she still gets shit for being unwed and pregnant by her neighbours, not to mention her mother

>>
>>44992074
My gay friend, who is Robb Waters, by the by, has described Dontos as a bear. And I can see that. Dontos looks like a typical Ser Aeson, Malroy. Well muscled, dark hair, light skinned, with vague valyrian features, like a pointed chin. Shame I'm a dreadful artist and can't draw up what the family looks like.

>>44992193
Well Obella is going to end up in Steadhold soon... There's a chance one of Benjin's ravens makes a mysterious trip to King's Landing not long after the wedding.

>how things goes with people in our court that we arent/havnt been able to spend much time with ?

Well The Sons of Gold are integrating better in the Household and your domain. The townfolk are use to seeing Solhas and Barq Zos escorting Benjin about the Outer Ring, he's really taken a liking to them both and is learning the Summer Tongue to communicate with the latter better. He's considering writing a book on the Summer Isles, but may need funds for a trip to the Citadel or the islands themselves. Little think I've been muling over as a side story.

Lilly Cassel is less frightened now, she comes out when attending Elionwy about the castle, but still doesn't like to go much further than the yard. And only to watch Wesley for that that last bit. Robb Waters is being a baby, a fat one at that now.

Victor Haigh is beginning to take on more qualities of Mason, becoming more of a leader and organizer, rather than just a playful fighter. Squiring Lorry the Little has helped a lot with that.

Mors and Curtis are training some damn fine archers out there. Neither have ever had a House that places a lot of focus on the discipline, so the resource at their fingertips now are allowing them to expand training, and make sure the men manning your walls know every nook and cranny.

Duncan Ureye is competing in the Melee, feels a bit lost in the shuffle as of late, but is learning a lot from Dontos. His squire was one of the ones that Robb Brax beat the piss out of though.

Once a fortnight she'll visit the villa and Rickard Wence will allow her to stay a night and then send her off with whatever he can scrounge up for her. She's had a real tough go of it, mother is a bitch who only sees dollar signs, neighbors call her a whore and a harlot. She's seen neither sight nor sound of the dashing rogue she fell in love with. Bit in denial right now, not sure what is going to happen when the boy is born.

>>44992391
What is a noblelady, she's a year younger than Victus and being raised proper in Lys. Looks Valyrian as can be given her parentage.

Other is a whore's daughter, about 5, her life probably not so great. Off in Pentos.

>>44992414
I think the payoff will be better once everything falls in place and you see what I've been building towards. And Brynden finally gets the chance at Royce with just months of pent up rage and a thirst for vengeance. I have the grand arching scene in my head and I can't wait to write it. It'll be like Dontos' trial by combat scene ramped up to 20.

>>44992588
Oh she is a jealous creature. She's fine she is the one that brings the other woman into the bedroom but she'll still demand the majority of the attention. But she'll probably want Brynden's whoring to stop, if not she'll see it as a go ahead to maintain 'sleeping with the target' in her spy game. She doesn't care about Cecilia's child, just as much as she doesn't care about Victus, what is done is done.
>>

>Oh she is a jealous creature. She's fine she is the one that brings the other woman into the bedroom but she'll still demand the majority of the attention. Sweet, maybe we can bring the kid into the household, then. If we can get Dontos on board with it. What do about poor Cecilia though? I feel bad for her.
>>
>>44992911
>She's fine she is the one that brings the other woman into the bedroom but she'll still demand the majority of the attention.

Fuck I love Obella
>>
>>44992911
Things are a bit different now. Maybe we could re-negotiate with Dontos about the child
>>
>>44992978
We promised that we'd just give them money if it's a boy, we've had this argument with Dontos before, I don't feel like repeating it.

>Oh she is a jealous creature.

Be still my beating heart.
>>
>>44992588
Small addition to this. Obella expects Brynden to keep up his charming antics with women. Particularly when she is by his side, because then she can just be the smuggest woman alive every time Brynden turns them down. Brynden is her trophy husband, and she wants people to know.

Obella is a great character for me personally. I never get to write someone like her, with the sexual overtones, but still very much a strong woman that knows more than just how to seduce a man. But she's still petty and jealous about things, and refuses to admit it, thus her distance with her brother. As she spends time with Brynden and in Steadhold she'll mature a bit more and find her place among his Household, which likely by her own doing will be by his side in nearly everything.
>>
>>44993070
I reiterate, I love Obella
>>
>>44993070
The more you write the more i like Obella and i was already a fan

Leave to motherfucking based dad to turn the HDW meme into a seriously compelling character.

Have I mentioned lately that I love you?
>>

>She is likely to bring a certain... Flair with her when she moves in.

She is going to fill up our couch with pillows and get rid of our metal posters and replace them with incense, isnt she ?
>>
>>44993121

A little bit of Rhoynish redecoration sounds good, honestly. Might even make Brynden feel more at home, given its Essosi roots.
>>

We need a propper oak bed, some big bastard that has to be assembled in room.

>>
>>44993070
I get the feeling Obella could get the idea to send the shirt Brynden was wearing on their wedding night to Giselle, informing her of said shirt and telling her that she can use it to hug and cry when she goes to bed just to mock her.
>>
>>44993210
Fuck that's hot mean.

I kind of figured it would come up again. I'm not sure if I should hold a vote for it or not. Dontos drama brings out the worse in people sometimes. Which is my own fault for writing him like a hypocritical asshat on his high horse about nearly everything. But that's what I love about him the most. We'll see how it goes in a live thread.

>>44993120
That's a serious compliment thank you. And everyone else who is a fan of the character(s). I thought long and hard how I could do her right, even from the beginning interaction. I'm glad people appreciate it.

>>44993121
And throw out all your socks with holes in the toes. It'll be a horrible day for all.

No but on a more serious note, she is going to do a bit of redecorating. Much like what happened to the Red Keep with Rheagar's marriage. So a little Dornish flair. Which I'm going to enjoy for my exposition filler.

>>44993210
So send her the tattered remains of what one can only assume to be a tattered shirt?
>>
>>44993285
Is there a name for the baby yet ?

>No but on a more serious note, she is going to do a bit of redecorating. Much like what happened to the Red Keep with Rheagar's marriage. So a little Dornish flair. Which I'm going to enjoy for my exposition filler.

She is pretty much going to take over our household. Granted Brynden hasnt really cared how his keep look but still, gonna take some adjustments.
>>
>>44993420

I'm just laughing at the image of Dontos' face when he realizes Steadhold is slowly being turned into a sultry, smoke-filled Dornish love nest.
>>
>>44993420
I can dig it, The Dornish know how to decorate.

We aren't going to have any problems with her about succession if our oldest child is a girl right?
>>
>>44993467
Doubt that. She knows it is Boy>Girl here.
>>
>>44993478
I know, I was just making sure.
>>
>>44993478

If we've learned anything over the past few months of travesty in Europe, it's that people rarely leave their customs at home when they immigrate. I don't think it's unreasonable to think she might bring a preference for Dornish succession with her.

If our eldest is a girl, we just have to make sure she's every bit as hardened and badass as she needs to be to survive as the head of the House.
>>
>>44993532
Fuck I want that too, but we're going to get into so much shit
>>
>>44993532
The past few months of travesty in europe is because no ones gotten sick of it and killed them.

That's not going to be the case in a medievil setting such as this. Either you adapt to the customs (as a good spy would), or you end up in deep shit very fast.
>>
>>44993329
I have no thought of one yet. So either you guys can make some suggestions or I'll use a more generic name that King's Landing would use, front runners are Jon and Robert, because, well you know. I like to fuck with you guys.

>>44993339
I'm going to have to get ready to write a small Obella/Giselle feud aren't I?

>>44993420
Pretty much, yeah. She had a hand in doing so in Sunspear, because that's sort of her shtick outside of spying.

>>44993455
I won't go that far. But I need to brush up on my Dornish culture and the things it's based off of. Steadhold is this really old school practical castle, just a bit more bare.

>>44993467
Yeah... It's going to be a bit of an issue. Maybe you never have a boy with her, then what? Looking forward to how that all plays out.
>>
>>44993532
>>44993562

Actually, whether or not she's the eldest child if we have a daughter we need to resist the urge to pamper her and raise her to be a man-devouring hardass.

We'll marry her off to some House of strategic importance for us, have her show her fangs and take the reigns in all but name, and it's almost like we get a free vassal.

Raise your daughters the Dornish way, anons.

>>44993600
>front runners are Jon and Robert, because, well you know. I like to fuck with you guys.

D R O P P E D

Kidding, but we're not going to let you do that. We'll abduct the kid and change his name if we have to.
>>
>>44993600
I could imagine Cecilia giving the child a valyrian name in the hopes of it increasing her chances that Brynden will acknowledge it. But yeah, it would be hilarious if she named it Robert.

>I'm going to have to get ready to write a small Obella/Giselle feud aren't I?

Yes. Yes you do. Speaking of which. Could Brynden write a letter to Obella, just tell her that he is looking forward to the wedding and thinking about her.

Its nice to know that people thinks about one.
>>
>>44993600
>Write a feud
Not if you dont want to, some folks just like their cuckold fetish too much. The rest of us don't care not push it that far.
>>
>We invite the child and Cecilia to Steadhold
>Obella takes a liking to her
>Cecillia/Obella/Brynden threesome all throughout the year
>>
>>44993725

>Obella hires her as a maid because she always has someone to show off her husband to
>Constantly arranges for her to walk in on her and Brynden having sex
>Cecilia is heartbroken and deeply aroused at the same time, can't make heads or tails of what she's feeling
>Realizes she has to placate the frightening Dornishwoman if she ever wants to get intimate with Brynden again, becomes the greatest maid in Westerosi history

My dick is diamonds.

There's a solid chance by the time Brynden's potential daughter(s) is/are in those formulative years they'll have both Obella and Isis as rolemodels. Not to mention the exact opposite of what to do in the Queen not a stone's throw away. Good chance they could be foster in Sunspear/Water Gardens. Lots of interesting things to do with daughters.

>>44993675
I don't know if Cecillia would know any names... Maybe pull one of the old ones out of a hat from the random Kings of the past.

>>44993675
>>44993676
I might do some small stuff. It fits in the setting a bit, and might be expanded from Grover's new found disdain for Brynden. Won't be too far. Maybe.

>>44993968

Man even if we don't end up with Obella have giving an excuse to go back in our word, I'd like to do more than dontos probably expected and like, anonymously hire public tutors so he can rise above his apparent no matter what life he pursues.

Everyone knows who Aegon was. So long it isnt Aerys or Rheagar she should be fine.

He means Circe, you know worst Lannister.
>>
>>44994085
>Hahaha Sorry it'll just have to live in your imaginations.

No worries. If I'm around for your next run I'm going to write-in a multi-post fanfiction of this exact thing happening.

Prepare yourself to get bullied by my smut, since you won't let Obella bully Cecila in the canon story.

>>44994097

This actually sounds kind of adorable. The kid never meets his dad, grows up hating the guy for abandoning him. Opportunities just kind of fall into his lap time and time again, when he's grown he confronts us and realizes we've been engineering all the happenings in his life to make his life as nice as possible.
>>
>>44994085
>>44994141
>cecillia hears that brynden married/is marrying a dornishwoman and gives him the next dornish name she hears/can think of in hopes that it'll make bryden love the child.

I am perfectly fine with this.

No, hijacking the thread is meaner and more in the spirit of what I'm trying to accomplish with Cecilia-bullying.
>>
>>44994353
And will make everyone hate you. Do you want to be another targfag?
>>
>>44994200
Eh the "anonymous" tutor will still probably be interpreted "this is my coward father who won't acknowledge me trying to sooth his guilt" rather than "gee for some reason this expensive tutor just decided to take me on as a charity case"
>>
>>44994380

Impossible because I would sooner choke on Redward's micropenis than become a namefag.
>>
>>44994380

>>
>>44994419
Targfag is the asshole we keep around because while we hate what is posted, it is done in such a nice way.
>>
>>44994454

So long as he keeps making funny OC images I tolerate him. I find his opinions vapid and insufferable, and his stubbornness only makes it worse.
>>
>>44994495
I just find the guy is condescending and can't accept other opinions with grace.
>>
>>44994538

He has a Valyrian Resurgence fantasy. Which is fine, we all have little non-canon things we'd like to see happen in the setting.

He just keeps trying to push it, over and over again, even though it's clearly not a very good option in this case.

It's mostly the persistence that gets under my skin.
>>
>>44994097
It's expected of fathers of bastards to typically 'take care' of their children. So I'll probably offer a few options on where you want to anonymously bump your son towards. Wouldn't be hard to set him up with an apprenticeship somewhere like Gendry, or have a Knight happen by him and take him on as a squire. He'll have that Malroy blood after all.

>>44994141
Aegon is an option. Might not be the best, but I'll think about it. I'll see what I can come up with and work through suggestions as well.

>>44994129
>>44994181

Cersei will be providing the opposite of what a lady in power should be. I imagine Obella will be quite diligent in making sure any daughters she has does not end up like that psycho.

>>44994200
I'm not sure if I should be horrified or not. Mostly horrified. Obella isn't a bully really, just smug.
>>
>brynden has a bastard daughter about victus's age in lys.
>the longwaters thought victus was a girl
>longwater the elder's wife is volantine if memory serves.

Coincidence or conspiracy? You decide.
>>
>>44994633
She probably know the woman who is the mother.
>>
>>44994592
There is also the idea that we could maybe send the child to Dorne for his education. I am sure we can covince the Qorgyles
>>
>>44994582
The funny part is that we're mostly not even allying with rebels, just picking sides on a loyalist versus loyalist brawl we didn't start.
>>
>>44994686
Its probably a good idea to get our kids educated in dorne anyway, keep them well away from this pile of horse shit. Well unless we manage to secure ourselves before it becomes a question.
>>
>>44994651
It was a test. To see if brynden knew about his daughter.
>>
>>44994592
>I'm not sure if I should be horrified or not. Mostly horrified. Obella isn't a bully really, just smug.

That's why it fits for me, though. She'd have someone around who she knows she can torture with her smugness, and show off that trophy husband to devastating effect. But yes, being scared is an appropriate reaction in this case.

>>44994686

This is actually a very good idea. No shortage of dashing rogue types in Dorne, either, maybe Cecilia could find someone to mend her broken heart.
>>
>>44994764
That kind of cruel treatment describes a completely different character than "is smug about her victories". It would turn Obella into worst girl for being a petty spiteful bitch.
>>
>>44994764
If he turns out to be bookish we could pay for his education at the Citadel
>>
>>44994834

Oh, come on. She'd OCCASIONALLY let the poor girl join the two of them in bed, just so her spirit isn't crushed completely.

>>44994841

This too. Maesters don't take oaths of celibacy, do they? Somehow I don't see a Malroy being able to stick to that, no matter how bookish.
>>
>>44994869
Its still cruel. And rather sad really.
>>
>>44994869
Yeah, this went from maybe hot to sad and cruel.
>>
>>44994633

"Hey guys, wouldn't it be cool if we twisted this little jealousy quirk up to 11 and fucking obliterated a womans self worth?"
>>
>>44995001

Say what you want about enjoying it, but the idea is far from boring.
>>
>>44994764
>She'd have someone around who she knows she can torture with her smugness

That mostly applies to women she sees as a threat. Cecilia doesn't really fall into that category. Meanwhile, Giselle was, for varying reasons.

She's not spiteful like that either. Just not really her thing. Petty yes, but that's her just being childish at times, she is only 18 afterall.

>>44994633
I didn't decide Brynden had more children until after that scene actually. Christ I just realized this makes him the most prolific of the /tg/ Lords. Go Brynden?

Somehow this reminds me that I need to contact Page for a crossover thingy at some point. I'm banging around a few ideas, but they're all way down the line.
>>
>>44994993
Gift of the Magi is a classic and should continue being taught in damn near every high school just so kids can stop saying a shirt is "ironic" or some stupid shit like that.

>>
>>44995031
The one daughter whos mother owns that brothel. Does she ever think about who or what her father is. Does her mother ever talk about it. Why didnt she take moontea?

Does the noblewoman even know that the child is Brynden and what are her thoughts about the whole thing ?
>>
>>44995074
He ran a thread on January 3rd. Which I missed. His current side story would actually be really easy to get some small crossover but I'd probably have to make up characters since everyone is in Steadhold and I based a lot of the Sons off Myrmen. So actually nevermind it would be hard as hell, a passing reference at best like how I reference Bordain occasionally when the murders come up.

>>44995219
She thought Brynden was very handsome, so decided to try her luck in having a child, you know for the business. She's the real winner.

The Noblewoman is very much aware, as Brynden was her paramour for awhile. She was the first woman he slept with after Lysa died, and he bailed as soon as he found out she was pregnant. Like a dead beat. She is entirely aware of who he is/was and was grooming him to become her third or so husband.
>>
>>44995375
Wauw. Dodged a bullet there Brynden.
>>
>>44995375
Wow so that's a bastard that BRYNDEN knows about too. With recent events maybe he should... Check on that health.
>>
>>44995375
So the noblewoman was planning on murdering her second husband and then marry Brynden ?

How pissed is she that he bailed ?
>>
>>44995375
HAHAHA
>>
Lovely ladies those mothers are...

Anything you can tell us about how the children are ?

What do they know of Brynden ?
>>
>>44995539
Brynden has sort of forgotten about it. The Noblewoman had a few more paramours than him at the time and he was drunk just about constantly, it wasn't soon after Mason found him.

>>44995551
He was already dead, she was sorting her harem out basically. Brynden was a more literal trophy husband with her.

She wasn't mad until her daughter was born and she looked just like him.

>>44995883
I've never really bothered to flesh them out beyond the basics. Because I didn't intend to bring them up. But neither of them know much to anything about Brynden other than he was some drunkard dead beat.
>>
>>44995991
Makes me think if Bryden manages to make ripples she might use it as an excuse to get something from him (aid, money, trade, etc) so she does not fuck with him using one of his bastards.

Not that i need to suggest ways for you to fuck with us.
