Okay. Calm down, me. Yes it's my sister's room on the other side of that wall but there's also no guarantee that he actually did anything to her. She didn't even wake up during all that commotion and, um...

"...god damn it," I mumble as my feet propel me towards the door anyways.

Even though I'm trying my best to be logical about this and not lose my cool, it's pretty clear that I'm not going to feel any better until I actually go over there and make sure that nothing happened.

"Is something the matter?" Irene asks.
"No," I shake my head, "I just hope that he didn't steal anything of Allison's too."
"Ohh..." she grimaces.
"Charlotte, do you think you'd be able to trace where he went in her room too?"
"Of course," Charlotte replies.

If his scent isn't immediately obvious to Charlotte on the other side then we have a bigger problem. Either he's able to covering his scent (and this whole thing has been futile) or he doesn't have to go linearly through a wall.

Once everyone's out of my room, I close my door and walk over to my sister's room. And as I approach her door, It hit me just how LONG it's been since I've had any reason to go in her room.

I mean, I hear the girls at school going on all the time about they snuck into their sisters' rooms to steal such-and-such outfit or complaining about how something that they wanted to wear got stolen in turn but I've never really had to deal with any of that since me and Allison have never been the same size. Now her and our mother on the other hand... those arguments were never fun to overhear.

But yeah. Since I never "borrow" any of Allison's clothes, I haven't had any real reason to go in her room since forever. not to mention my constant fear of walking past her door just as some musclebound creeper's leaving... ugh.

I feel sick just remembering the times when that's actually happened.

"I'm coming in!" I call out.
"Hey wa-"

Ignoring my sisters protests, I open thew door to her room and march right on inside. Much to my relief, I find Allison alone sitting at her computer. Fully-clothed too, thank God.

"What the HELL, Cecile!?" she shouts at me, spinning around in her office chair just to shoot me a dirty look. "I don't come barging into YOUR room when the door's closed!"

"Umm, right again?" I say with an uneasy smile.
"Dammit," Allison groans. "Please tell me that there isn't someone out to kill you again, because we both know that Daddy'll lose his shit if that's true."
"Not exactly... I think," I reply.

After waving Charlotte and the others in and making sure the door's closed, I go about telling my dear sister all about the events of the past day or so (minus Theresa's kite stuff, of course). Allison doesn't seem to take this all that well, especially after I explain what Faceless can do and has done. And by the end of it, she's sitting in her chair with her head lowered and her hand over her eyes like she has a headache.

Not that I can really blame her.

"So this guy can walk through walls," Allison says.
"Yeah," I nod.
"And he's like... some kind of master thief."
"Apparently."
"And he broke in here in the middle of the night just to steal that cactus that I got you last year."

"So while I was sleeping this guy could've gone through my underwear drawer, or-"

Allison leaps up from her chair and hurries to her dresser, tracing her hand along its surface until she reaches a medium-sized wooden box. After flipping the top open, she digs through its contents and lets out a long sigh of relief.

"Umm, is it okay if Charlotte-"
"Yeah, whatever," Allison cuts me off. "I don't care."

I nod to Charlotte, who immediately begins to trace along the walls of the room while sniffing the air around her. And I have to admit that she looks kind of funny while she's doing it.

But I leave Charlotte to her searching and return my attention to my sister, who's still in the middle of inspecting the contents of the wooden box on hr dresser.

"What's going on there?" I ask, pointing at the box.
"I'm making sure that none of my jewelry's been stolen," Allison replies. "Kevin got me this REALLY expensive diamond necklace after the police released him..."

I suddenly find my gaze fixated on a long chain of sparkling gold and diamonds. The way that the light's shining through the facets of every gemstone inside it is absolutely mesmerizing, I didn't even know that something could sparkle that much.

I flinch as the glittering jewelry vanishes from my sight and is returned to its box.

"I know, right?" she replies, smiling faintly. "I'm just glad that it's still here along with the rest of my jewelry. I don't know what I'd do if any of this stuff got stolen."

"And, uh..." Allison clears her throat, "...I'm sorry that ghost guy stole your cactus. I know how much you loved that thing."
"Yeah," I mumble. "At least you still have all your stuff," I say, pointing at her jewelry box. "Are you sure that there isn't anything else that might be missing, thougH?"

I take a good look around Allison's room. It's got the same girly pink wallpaper that she's had since we were little and the same girly sheets and teddybear (I shudder to think of what that thing's seen) resting on her bed. And on her walls are...

"You still have that thing?" I say, pointing at a poster that Theresa and Irene are standing in front of.
"And why wouldn't I?" Allison replies, placing her hands on her hips. "I still like the show and I own -every- season on Blu-ray."
"It's still on the air?"

It's been what, ten years since it started?

"Yes, as a matter of fact," Allison says.
"You and your gay brothers..." I shrug.

Just as I'm feeling the full impact of Allison's strong jab to my upper arm, Charlotte calls out to me.

"Hey Cecile?" she says, sounding kind of uneasy.
"Yeah?"

I glare daggers (literally, thanks to my Branch) at Allison for a few seconds before hurrying over to my beautiful, non-abusive girlfriend.

"This is the wall that borders your room, right?" she says, pointing at the closet.
"Yeah?" I shrug.

And then i immediately regret shrugging because my stupid sister punched me way harder than I initially thought.

"Well I'm not picking up that man's scent in here at all," Charlotte says. "...Faceless, I mean. The only place I haven't checked so far is right here in the closet but I wanted to make sure it was okay to go inside before I actually did."

Alternatively: Why did we ever think he has to come out on the other end of the wall? He already used puddles as escape route and I’m pretty sure he didn’t come out on the other side of the puddle but instead farther away.

>Theory A: he can just come out wherever. Maybe restriction by distance or something.
>Theory B: Once he moved inside the wall he can leave anywhere else that also belongs to the wall. For example entering on the ground floor and exiting in CC’s room.

We can test this by having Ch smell once around the house.
>>

Wouldn’t he have had to leave the closet anyway? So he either should be smelled outside, or he moved down/up, in which case we can have her smell there.

Wasting no time now that she has permission, Charlotte carefully opens up the door all the way and steps inside... and stops.

"Umm," she clears her throat as she begins to rummage around. "I'm still not picking up his scent anywhere..."

She takes a few more seconds to check the floor and all that before stepping back out. And her face is bright red.

"You okay?" Theresa asks, noticing her expression.

And now both Theresa -and- Irene are staring at me like I'm crazy!

"So you, umm..." Charlotte smiles nervously as she heps me back to my feet.
"Yeah and I don't want to talk about it," I reply, but not before hitting Allison with a dirty look.

And judging by her reaction, she knows exactly what I saw in there.

"Anyways," I say, taking a deep breath, "you didn't catch his scent in here at all?" I ask, turning to Charlotte.
"No," she shakes her head. "At first I thought that maybe he went through the closet wall and then down through the floor, but his scent isn't in there at all."

"I didn't pick up his scent anywhere in this room," Charlotte replies, "so it's really unlikely that he was."
"That's a relief... I guess."

She then stomps over to her closet and slams it shut.

"But the only other place where Charlotte picked up his scent was along Cecile's window..." Irene says, deep in thought. "But that leads directly outside, and-"
"I had Rhaccy come right to her room when I heard Cecile scream," Charlotte replies. I would've seen him if he escaped through the window."

"Umm, maybe you should start with how this guy's power works again and go from there?" Allison chimes in from her position in front of her closet door.
"That's as good an idea as anything," Theresa replies.

And since Irene's the one who knows the most about Faceless, we all turn to her.

"As far as I know, Planes Drifter just lets its holder pass through flat surfaces," Irene says with a shrug. "It's one of those Branches that we only know what we've been able to determine from observation since nobody in our organization's ever actually had it themself."

"Until now," Charlotte says, crossing her arms under her chest.
"I guess..." she sighs. "Llo-" she catches herself. "Er, one of my partners was even part of an operation to capture him once and he watched him walk right through a glass window and flip him off from the other side. So I assumed that if he could do more than that then he wouldn't risk himself by..." she trails off.

Irene seems especially bothered by this.

"Maybe he's just keeping the full extent of what he can do to himself?" I reply. "Like how all those people still think I'm 'Sunflower.'"
"Or how you helped me scare those two assholes off by making them think that I could curse them..." Theresa mumbles under her breath.

If we can't go by what Irene's people know about that Branch then we're just going to have to work with what we've seen ourselves. And since I personally watched him walk through the wall that borders this room, the fact that his scent isn't in here at all must mean that he's probably not limited to coming out on the other side of what he passed through.

"Oh crap, that fence last night!" I say, snapping my fingers.
"Huh?" both Allison and Theresa look completely confused.
"When we saw him last night, he disappeared through a fence, remember?" I say, turning to Charlotte. "And you couldn't trace where he went after that!"
"..." Charlotte's expression darkens. "No, I couldn't... and I had Rhaccy fly right over it immediately after he went through it, too."
"So that's proof, right?" I say. "Him going through something doesn't mean that he has to come out the opposite side!"

It feels like we're finally getting somewhere!
