I was thinking that if you guys choose close combat I'd make some paths for you, e.g. fist fighting or sort of a black key type deal (although obviously not black keys, some other bladed weapons I guess). Bare in mind that most of the combat will be handled by your servant and you still have the Foreign Mage perk, although some situations may force you into close combat

The apartment the organisation gave you to live in is quite luxurious. It's quite massive and it also overlooks the whole of Fuyuki city with a massive view of the city. There seems to be a couple of flats on each floor, there are five floors with you living on the 3rd floor. You settled in with no time, as you had little belongings except some of your magic books, crystals and other random essentials for a mage. As you finish unpacking the rest of your stuff, you realize your mentor left you a suit case with a note on top of it.

“Dear Arthur, from here on out you are going to be alone. Try not to draw attention to yourself. Use these well.”

After placing all your belongings, Lancer materializes in the living room and plops herself onto the couch. “This is quite a nice place, nice view.” She gestures towards the massive window, “Although I can sense protection magic around the area you still have to be careful walking in front of this. Probably get taken out by Archer or Caster if you're not careful. I dunno what kind of idiot decided a massive see through thin wall was a good idea for protection.”

You shrug, “It's a window; Lancer. Anyway I'm going to make some food, I'm pretty hungry.”
Lancer turns towards you and pouts, “I hope that offer includes me?”.
...You raise an eyebrow, “I thought servants didn't have to eat?”
“Yes, but they may still enjoy it. What sort of a host greets his guests with words and wind?”
You grumble as you walk into the kitchen, and you are delighted to find that the fridge is fully stocked!

Saber has great stats and solid attacks (Usually)
Archer has ranged super attacks and can act independantly
Lancer is focused on Speed
Rider has the most noble phantasms/powers
Berserker is forced into an unthinking brute whose stats are all increased at the cost of some of his noble phantasms.
Caster can usually use magic and set up a HQ that is a nightmare to assault.
Assassin has stealth and is focused on killing masters more than fighting other servants.

So long as we can reclaim the throwing knives I'm all for them. Multiply knives like Anderson

You quickly grab ingredients from the fridge, seems like the organization wasted no expense and soon you are chopping ingredients and searing fish in the pan.
“Oi master, what’s this?”
You turn your head around to see Lancer holding your mentor's present, she seems amused by what looks to be a stick. Lancer flourishes the stick between her fingers and grins.
“I hope when you said you were training in close combat you weren't talking about...this little thing?”
“It's a spear, Lancer. Infuse it with a little bit of your mana”. She does so, and the little silver stick briefly pulses then expands, forming a thin but strong metal spear. You notice that her mana glows red, just like her eyes and hair.
“Ooh.”
Lancer walks back into the living room and decides to perform some thrusts to test the balance of the spear, you shrug as you follow her, trying to catch her movements with the spear. Although only just practising her forms, your trained eyes cannot seem to follow the movement of her spear, Lancer's incredible fast and strong thrusts seem to actually control the air itself. She infuses the spear with mana again and it retracts into its original form: kinda like a silver baton. Lancer nods, “This is a decent weapon Master, although not as good as mine, it will suffice.” She places the weapon gently back into the suit case, “Master, I hope you're not burning your fish.”

After a very satisfying dinner, Lancer sat me down in the living room and explained her statistics, abilities and noble phantasms.
“I've got very high magical resistance, as high as Saber class, so taking out mages and casters is quite easy, especially when they underestimate me. I have two noble phantasms, however both of them is used for one-on-one situations, they're not that useful against multiple people. Hmm.” Lancer tilts her head as she contemplates...”I guess my weaknesses would be against heroic spirits who are stronger then me in a one-on-one, or against a particularly strong noble phantasm.” Lancer suddenly stands, “However Master, I will request that you fight me with all you have...tomorrow. I want to see how you fight against a servant, and how well you use that spear.” She smirks as she fades away.

“What is this organisation? How have we not heard of them before? To think a mage has called s servant this early...and not even a true mage of the three great families!”
A man looking like in his early thirties or perhaps late twenties spits on the floor, face with a look of revulsion.
“Calm yourself...Zouken.” A woman in red retorts. “Although I do not fear this...so called foreign mage; there is the issue of this organisation. It is impossible for us to not hear about any so called organisation that exists without us knowing. They may be far more dangerous than they appear: and for them to summon their servant so early...”
The man named Zouken looked at the woman across the room in distaste, “You are aware that the Matou family will not share the chalice, yes? Once this whelp is destroyed, you and I are enemies once more.
The woman in red looked bemused, “Why, was there any question?”

A man in blue looked troubled. A woman in black, with long red hair and piercing red eyes held her spear to the warrior. The woman spoke softly: “You've grown. You have passed the tests...perhaps I wanted you to succeed, perhaps I wanted to me killed by your hands.”

You open your eyes. You're back in your apartment. What was that dream? It was...really vivid. Was that Lancer? ...Looked like her. You shake your hand and yawn. 7:02am. You stumble groggily into the shower and turn it on. You step out of the shower and dry yourself on, and put on your familiar suit and walk into the living room. Lancer's voice rings clearly past your ears:
“Master, I'm in the training room.”
You forget that your new apartment had a training room, really. It was massive, and quite an upgrade from your last lodgings, you also seem to not see anyone enter and leave the building, and see no one except the clerk at the desk.
You walk into the training room and you are immediately greeted by Lancer with some sort of wooden staff and she immediately throws a staff to you. You manage to catch it but nearly manage to fumble it, you sigh a little.
“Oh, right. Hold on.”
You take off your socks and place them neatly beside the entrance, along with your suit coat and tie.
Lancer looks amused. “Ok~ Let's see what you can actually do...Master!”

And initiate combat.

Combat is usually settled by first three rolls of combat. Usually, before two servants fight I'll have you roll for initiative and whoever wins the roll gets to attack first. Agility can also affect initiate but more on that later.

When servants or masters are reduced to -1hp, they are considered dead unless they have battle continuation or another skill/spell. When you are reduced to 0hp you are unconscious. Servants/masters that are reduced to below -1hp but survived will have to find some way of healing yourself (or just treat your wounds) in order to survive. Servants or masters that have -1hp after a day has ended will perish to their wounds but it's quite easy to heal yourself.

You have three command seals. For now I will allow you to burn one command seal in order to fully heal your servant. Otherwise, at some points during the quest you may be given an option to “burn” a command seal in order to do something. You may do this as you wish. However bare in mind that losing all your command seals means that you cannot command your servant any more, although in Arthur's case, Scath probably won't abandon you unless you're an evil son of a bitch.

Now, roll me 1d20. First three rolls.
