You are Kline Bueller, and you are currently well-rested after your nap. After the bandit fiasco, you decide to take the time to relax in the big city of Kaste with Deila Havar and...Maria.

You really didn't want her tagging along, but she insisted that she accompany you, in order to prevent you from taking advantage of Deila. Just because she was a rank higher didn't mean she had the right to boss you around.

The three of you are at a cafe, waiting for your orders to come.

"S-so, K-Kline, is it?" Deila asks you, with a blush on her face. "H-Have you ever been to Kaste before?"

"No," You say. "This is my first time here. I've never had the chance to visit a town like this." Which was the truth, you've lived in the village of Asrun when you were younger before you moved out to Grandale.

"Hmph. Commoners are always fascinated by every single thing they see." Maria quips.

You ignore her and decide on what else to say to Deila.

>Ask Deila does she live here.
>Ask Deila does she come here often.
>Ask Deila if there's a guild here.

>>Ask Deila does she live here.
>>

"So, Deila, do you live here?" You ask.

"Well, no, I live in Redvale, a town on the border of the country of Frendan." Deila says. Frendan? If you recall, Frendan was the neighboring country of Heral, the country you live in.

"So, you've visited Kaste, then?" You ask.

"Oh, yes! Several times, although some of them were for business." Deila nods.

"Where's the waiter already? I'm growing impatient," Maria growls.

"Is there a guild in Kaste here?" You ask Deila, who nods.

"I wanted to ask them for help, but they said they weren't interested." The brunette looks downward.

What do you ask?

>"Why?"
>"Were they busy?"
>"Did they think your request wasn't good enough?"
>>

>>
>>44902494
"Were they busy or something?" You ask with a bit of concern.

"T-They must've been, because some of the members quickly declined when I proposed my request to them." Deila says sadly.

So, it's not just Grandale's guild, after all.

"I apologize for the wait, ladies and gentleman." The waiter arrives to your table with food and drink, which Maria takes to with relish. You watch her quickly take to the chicken like a ravenous animal. Did nobles usually act like this? You rather not know.

After you finish your lunch, Deila stands up and claps her hands. "S-So, where do you want to go now?"

"I was thinking about going to the shops around here, but maybe you have some kind of idea of where you think we should go." You say.

"M-Me?" Deila looks at you. "W-Well, I was hoping to go to the clothing store..."

"Clothing store?!" Maria's face lights up instantly, her dour mood gone. "Of course we'll go there! We must." She says the last part menacingly towards you.

...There were times you hated your job sometimes. This was one of them.

Soon enough, you were being dragged to a fancy clothes shop by Maria and Deila, who were gushing over outfits. At least shopping with Evelyn wasn't that bad.

"Here, commoner." Maria shoves a pair of white stockings into your hands. "Hold that while I'll get that adorable yellow dress."

You sigh as Deila walks towards you carrying two dress, one purple with black stripes, the other pink with white frills. "K-Kline, which dress should I get?"

>Purple.

"The purple one." You point out.

"A-Are you sure?" Deila asks.

"I'm sure." You nod, as Deila goes to put the other dress back. After Deila pays for her and Maria's spoils of her search, you head for the stores, which had many things you couldn't find in Grandale.

The weapon shop was large and had a lot of various types of weapons, the armor shop had gear from various lands, and the magic shop looked out of this world.

"Where do you want to g-go?" Deila asks you and Maria.

"I plan on going to the bookstore and get the new edition of 'The Adventures of Lance Magnum'." The cleric smiles.

"Isn't that a dirty book?" You ask.

"N-No it's not!" Maria blushes fiercely. "It's a mature and riveting b-book that your little commoner mind cannot begin to comprehend!" She lets out a huff and heads towards the bookstore.

"Well, I'm going to check out the new weapons they have." You tell Deila. She nods as you head towards the store.

As you enter the store, you see people checking out the new goods they have on display. You also see a purple-haired woman staring at a set of twin swords in a glass case.

You look at the price of the swords.

3000 gold?! Damn.

You check your gold, and you only have almost half of the price of the swords.

"Mithril blades, huh? I wonder if they're the real deal?" The purple-haired woman snorts.

"They're made of mithril? Damn." You murmur loudly.

"Don't get your hopes up. It's probably fake. The names Lenne, by the way." Lenne looks at you.

"I'm Kline. Nice to meet you, Lenne. Do you live here?" You ask.

"Nah, I'm just here on a tour. Gotta say, this place is much like Sanstra on a hot, busy day, though." Lenne crosses her arms. "So, you come here often?"

"First time, actually." Your eye then falls onto her emblem, which was gold. "Are you a part of a guild?"

"Yeah, the Red Claw. They're pretty tough, but they treat you like family, once you earn their trust." The purple-haired swordswoman shrugs. "I see you're from a guild as well. What are they like?"

>"They're a bunch of madmen."
>"They're good people."
>"They're all right once you get to know them."

>"They're a bunch of madmen."
But
>"They're all right once you get to know them."
>>

"Well, they're not good and decent people, that's for sure. But some of them can be nice." You say.

"I see." Lenne smirks as she put a hand on her hip. "So, are you planning on advancing your rank?"

"Obviously, but I might need to find a class that suits me." You reply, knowing full well Evelyn won't stop pestering you about it.

"You seem like you'd be a good Fighter." Lenne comments as you scratch the back of your neck. True, you did prefer getting up close to your opponents, but you did like to be fast and nimble about it.

"Yeah, I might plan on joining the Fighter class when I get back." You stretch your arms.

"K-Kline!" Deila's voice can be heard through the store as she comes into view, panicking and looking terrified. "Oh, thank the gods I found you!" She then clings to you for comfort as Lenne looks on in confusion.

"Friend of yours?" She asks.

>"She's my client."

"She's just a client of mine. I'm on a mission." You tell Lenne. Then you turn to Deila. "Now calm down and tell me what's wrong, Deila."

"T-There was a robed figure, and he was following me, and I think he had a knife or something." She spits out. "I didn't have time to find out, I was busy trying to lose him."

"Sounds like you've got quite the adventure on your hands," Lenne states.

"Apparently," You sigh. "Deila, have you seen Maria?"

"I don't know," She admits. "I passed by the bookstore."

"Well, I've got to go." You turn to Lenne. "I hope to see you around."

"Yeah, same here. Later, Kline."

You wave at Lenne goodbye as the two of you head out of the store and began to go towards the direction of the bookstore. As you and Deila enter, the smell of vanilla hits your nostrils. It seems like there's a bakery built inside of the place. There are lots of books of various kinds on large shelves.

Then you turn to catch a glimpse of blonde hair in the adult section of the store. Probably Maria. You and Deila head inside and the sight of red greets you. The smell of cinnamon hits your nose this time. "Ugh, this place must've been a bakery before the change." You grown.

"Perhaps," Deila blushes. "I-I've never been here before..." You look around and see some people with grins on their faces as they read the books around here.

You scan your eyes for a certain cleric, whom you spot engrossed a book she's reading. You motion Deila to stay put as you walk up behind Maria.

Thankfully, she's busy to notice you coming up to her back and see you peering at her book. This is what she considers too mature for you? The dialogue in the book seems like a teenager would come up with. 'He sild the snake into her grassy knoll'?

You let out a snort of laughter, causing Maria to yelp and turn towards you, her face of shock turning to anger.

"You! What are you doing here?!" She hisses.

"I came to get you." You reply.

"By sneaking up on me? You boor!" Maria growls as she clutches her book to her chest. "Did you take a look at my novel?"

"Yes," You smugly reply. "And Lance reveled in the cries of rapture from his beloved maiden fair-"

"Stop! Enough!" Maria gasps out. "Look, we'll pretend this never happened when we get back." She then spots Deila. "What's going on?"

"Our client got spooked by a robed figure. I think we should go back to the hotel." You say, in all seriousness.

"Hmph. We can just inform the guild of Kaste and let them handle it."

"Did you forget about the guild's policy? We're basically her bodyguards now. We can't just leave her alone." You hiss.

"Argh, fine." Maria throws up her hands. "But you're going to be doing all the work. I'm not dirtying my hands for your sake."

You shrug as the two of you walk towards Deila, who is staring at a book with a blush on her face. "Miss Havar?" Maria asks politely.

"Y-Yes? W-What is it?" She stammers.

"We've decided to help you with your stalker problem. Rest assured, we'll keep an eye out for that perverted man." Maria proclaims.

"H-He wasn't really perverted, just suspicious..." Deila sighs.

The three of you then head back to the inn, you making sure to keep an eye out for the robed man. As you enter the inn and head upstairs, you have a strange feeling in your gut.

"Wait," You hold out your hand towards the two women. "Let me check it out." You slowly move towards the door to Deila's room and turn the knob, pushing open the door.

The room looks normal, but something still feels off. You take a step inside and suddenly, the feeling of cold steel almost brushes against your neck as you quickly turn around to see a robed man wielding a dagger.

"Lucky brat. A second later, and you would've been on the floor," The robed man hisses. "I'll not waste any time. Where's the crystal?"

"The what?" You ask.

"Don't play dumb, boy! The crystal! Where is it?"

What do you say?

>"You're too late."
>"I don't know what you're on about."

"I have no idea what you're talking about." You reply. "But are you trying to find it for your new bride to be?" The robed man's face turns into a snarl with a faint hint of a crimson blush.

"Y-You cheeky little brat! Don't act so damn-" You cut him off by punching him in the gut, grab the knife and pin him against the wall.

"All right now, who sent you?" You hiss at him, pressing the blade against his throat. "Talk, or else!"

"You mother-" He is interrupted by Maria smacking him on the head with her book.

"You shut your mouth!" She snaps.

"...Thank you, Maria. And now as I was saying, who sent you?" You growl in a threatening tone.

"You really don't know shit, do you, boy?!" The robed man wheezes. "You've already been played into their hands...!"

Just then, a loud explosion was heard from north of Kaste. "What was that?!" Deila screams.

"Now you've done it. Our work has been for naught! We've failed..." The robed man groans.

Before you ask him what, he pushes you back and snatches his knife and slits his throat, falling to the ground, gagging.

Deila lets out a scream as Maria ushers her out the room. You slam your fist against the wall in anger. Looks like you weren't getting answers today.

Later, you are sitting in your room, having dealt with the situation of the dead man with the authorities. You were informed that the mayor's house exploded, but he and his family managed to escape in time.

Deila was in Maria's room, feeling guilty about the whole thing. She told the officials she had no idea who even gave her the crystal and she was just doing her usual duty. Foruntately, the officials just told us to head back to our town for the time being, which you were planning to do anyways.

You sit up and head towards Maria's room, hoping to ease Deila's worries. Stopping at the door, you open it to find the brunette with her hands on her face.

"I can't believe this... I was carrying a bomb, and I-I didn't know. I-It's all my fault..." She murmurs sadly. You slowly walk towards her and sit next to her on the bed.

"It's not your fault, Deila. You couldn't have possibly known that the crystal was a bomb. You were just doing your job." You place a hand onto her shoulder.

"I know, but I was used an instrument for assassination! I-I almost got the mayor killed!" Deila looks at you with tears running down her face. You gently brush her bangs aside to see her teary brown eyes. "I-I'm so sorry. I-I..."

She is cut off as you pull her into a hug, her sobs being muffled into your chest. You hold her to you until the sobs cease as she moves away from you.

"I'm sorry..." She croaks. "I've been a bad client, haven't I?"

What do you say?

>"Of course not!"
>"You're more than just a client."

>>
>>44908799
"Of course not," You say gently. "You're not a bad client. You just need to be more careful of taking things from strangers."

"T-Thank you." Deila sniffs, rubbing her eyes. "D-Do you still want me to give you the reward?"

"Well, I don't know about Maria, but I all want is to see you smile, not crying." You smile at her. "Cheer up, Deila."

A small smile appears on Deila's face as she nods. "Is that good?" She asks.

"Perfect." You reply.

"I-I'll find a way to repay you properly for this. I swear." Deila puts her hands together with yours.

"I know. Now, let's get some sleep, so we can go back to the city tomorrow." You stand up and head back to your room with a warm feeling in your heart.

The next morning, you and the girls are in the carriage, riding the way back to Grandale.

"Well, this was fun." You grin.

"Oh, shut up." Maria snaps. "I can't believe I had to waste some of my precious time with a commoner like you."

"You mean your precious reading time-" You were cut off by Maria slapping her hand onto your mouth.

"Don't you dare!" She hisses at you and removes her hand, going back to her book.

Soon, you reach the gates of your hometown and get out of the carriage. "I'm so sorry your day in Kaste was ruined. I'll make it up to you, I promise." Deila says.

"It's fine. I just hope I can go back to that shop again and buy those swords when I have enough money." You sigh, a bit sad.

"D-Don't worry about that," Deila says, blushing. "I'm sure you'll get it someday. Well, thank you for all your help. I-I hope to see you again, Kilne." She bows and heads back to the carriage, the coachman turning it around and heading back to Kaste.

Deila... what a girl she was.

"Ahem." Maria coughs behind you.

>"If it's about your book, I'll keep my mouth shut."
>"Look, can we go our separate ways and never speak of this again?"

"Hey, I'm not the one who should've reminded her, you know." You protest.

"I am going to have your head for this!" She hisses at you, her eyes flashing in anger.

"Whatever. I'm going back to the guild." You yawn as you walk back to the guild HQ, with an angry Maria hot at your heels, screaming at you.

You enter the guild hall, making a beeline towards the Guildmaster's office. You can't wait to tell her the news! Suddenly, you hear noises in the office. Strange noises. It sounds like something's up with Lora.

"Mistress?" You knock on the door. "Are you all right?"

"Damn stupid...!" You hear a crash in the room. "My files! Bloody hell!"

"Is there anything I can do to help?" You call out.

"No! Go pester me later! I'm busy!" Lora snaps as another loud crash can be heard. "Why do I have these things lying about?!"

You shrug. Whatever the guildmaster is doing in there wasn't any of your business, really.

As you head back downstairs, you see Herschel and his goons, playing cards.

"Haha, Hersche, I got a winna'!" A fat man howls in victory as he throws down two pairs of jacks and queens.

"That's it? I expected better, Dorga." Herschel laughs as he throws down a royal flush.

You hear his men laugh at Dorga as he grumpily tosses a bag of gold at Herschel. "Dang it! I woulda won!" He groans.

"Gambling in the hall, Herschel?" You grin. "The boss wouldn't approve."

"And what would a little roach-killing brat like you know about rules, Bueller?" Herschel snorts derisively.

"Nothing, really." You shrug. "I wouldn't go upstairs right now, if I were you." Hook, like, and...

"And why not?" Herschel stands up and walks towards you with a skeptical look.

"Oh, nothing. Save for the mistress wearing nothing but skimpy lingerie." You cheekily grin. You swear you could see Herschel's eyes light up like a candle.

"You better not be lying, Bueller." He growls as he makes a mad dash up the stairs and thunders down the hallway towards her office.

Three, two, one...

"YOU FUCKING PERVERT!"

A loud crash can be heard.

"MISTRESS, PLEASE! I DIDN'T-AAH!"

"DON'T YOU LIE TO ME! YOU WERE EYEING MY ASS!"

You grin as you hear the familiar sounds of Herschel getting his ass handed to him. And all was right in the world.

"Sounds like the boss and Hersche are at it again!" Dorga howls in laughter as Herschel lets out a feminine scream of terror.

You quickly head out of the guild and into town.

You wonder if Evelyn is still at the library. Knowing her, she probably forgot to come to the guild today. You quickly head towards the public library and navigate the hall of books to find her at her usual place: World History.

She is sitting on the floor, reading a book of the old world map. "It's sad to see Frendan reduced to a mere country after its empire was split apart." The mage sighs.

"But wasn't it a good thing?" You ask, startling her. She then glares at you and swats you at your shin.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were with Maria." She sulkily huffs.

"I'm done with the mission. I just want to hang out with you now." You grin. "Also, Herschel Malder is getting punished by the boss again."

"No thanks to you. You know he's a B-rank and can hurt you, why do you antagonize him?" Evelyn frowns.

"It's a game. And if he gives in, I win. He knows that." You chuckle.

Evelyn rolls her eyes. "You're hopeless. What am I going to do with you?"

You shrug and look at Evelyn's pile of books, wondering what to pick.

"This seems like my kind of book." You grin as you open the book and read. There are step-by-step examples of how to use weapons, and the skills to use said weapons.

"...Why learn it from a book when you can learn it from a person?" Evelyn asks.

"Could say the same to you." You snort.

"I did." She smugly replies.

"Fine, you win. I was gonna pick a class, but the boss is busy." You sigh.

"Figures," Evelyn rolls her eyes.

The two of you sit and read until the librarian tells you both it's closing time. You and Eve leave the library and head back to the guild, where you can still hear Lora cursing out Herschel.

"IF I EVER CATCH YOU PEEPING ON ME, I'LL TURN YOUR BALLS BLUE!"

"...She sounds really mad." Evelyn states worriedly.

"The mistress is the mistress." You say sagely. "Besides, I'm not really interested in older women like Herschel."

"Sure, you aren't." Evelyn mutters.

You open your mouth to retort, only to burst out laughing at Herschel's appearance. He has a black eye and he is walking crookedly.

"Wow, you sure got it bad, Hersche!" You cackle.

"Fuck you, Bueller!" He rasps out as he walks past you, grumbling in anger.

"Boys," Evelyn strides into the building. "I'll see you tomorrow, maybe you'll be a Fighter by then."

"We'll see." You nod at her. You are about to head down the barracks when the receptionist stops you.

"Oh, Kline, you have a letter." She says, handing you an envelope.

You look at the letter. Gods, it's your sister. You quickly head back to the barracks and dash into your room, shutting the door behind you. Jumping onto your bed, you open the letter and start to read it.

"Dear Kline, I heard a silly rumor that you've entered a guild and going on missions. I don't want you going off on dangerous places and getting yourself hurt. That's why I became an adventurer for our family's sake. I just want to see you safe. Love, Kaire."

...Your sister's overprotective nature can be a little grating sometimes.

After you place the letter on the desk, you let out a yawn and flop onto your bed, sleep overtaking you.

The crow of the rooster comes with the morning sun, its light hitting your eyes as you awaken. You had slept well, it seems.

As you enter the hall, you see Herschel nursing a mug, grumbling angrily. You see Maria sulking at a table, shooting you a glare when you look at her direction.

You decide to ignore them both and head upstairs to Lora's office. Hopefully she wasn't in a bad mood this time. You knock on the door.

"What?" The boss' voice greets you.

"Ma'am, I'd like to talk to you about something." You ask.

"Come in." You open the door and sit down in front of Lora, who has a sour look on her face. You've rarely seen her smile, come to think of it. "What is it?"

"I want to pick a class."

"A class, huh? Which one?" She looks at you with a raised eyebrow.

"Fighter." You say simply.

"Fighter, huh? Fine. Let me find the training permit..." Lora roots through her desk, searching for something. "Damn it, not here..."

She gets up and heads over to the cabinet, squatting down to the bottom drawer and looks around. "Maybe I put it in here..."

A pervy thought compels you to stare at Lora's backside while she's busy, but the reminder of Herschel quickly snaps you out of that mindset. You had a penchance for sexy women, but you weren't stupid like Malder.

Lora then stands up and checks the top drawer and pulls out the permit. "Huh. What's that doing in there? Oh, well. Here, brat. Take that to Augustine. He'll teach you what you want to know. Now shoo." she waves you off.

"Thank you, ma'am." You quickly leave the office and head downstairs. Your heart is beating like wild as you finally got into a class. Maybe then Evelyn will start treating you with respect.

You are heading north of Grandale, where the adventurer's training grounds are located. You see three people at a booth, one woman, and two men.

"Excuse me? I'm here to become a Fighter." You ask.

The woman with short forest-green hair stands up and walks towards you. She is wearing silver armor and black leggings and leather boots. "Another one, huh?" She snorts. "Newbies."

"Are you Augustine?" You ask her.

"Yep. Claudine Augustine's the name, don't wear it out. Now come on and let's get you trained." Claudine then spits on the ground. "Yo, Gizel, Rod. Good luck on your newbies." She waves at the two men.

As you and your instructor stand at the combat field, you see her pull out her sword. "Um, Mistress August-"

"Claudine's fine."

"Erm, Claudine. What am I going to learn to-ACK!" You suddenly feel the ground hit your back. "Urgh..."

"First rule of training: No talk time." She then swings her blade down at you, which you quickly roll to the side and get up. Claudine then charges at you.

What do you do?

You quickly deflect her strike and swing at her arm... only for her to pull back and kick at your shin, causing you to fall back down again. Damn, she's good.

You recover and swing your leg at hers, only for her jump up and strike at your shoulder, causing you to cry out in pain. Claudine then tackles you and pins you down, blade pointed at your throat.

"Sloppy." She says as she stares into your eyes. "You seriously have lots to learn."

"Ow..." You squeak out.

"Pain is a part of life, kid. Get used to it." Claudine pulls you up and brushes you off. "So, besides being a punching bag for me, I want you to learn and practice a technique of mine."

"A technique?" You ask.

"Yep." Claudine spits on the ground again. "I'm here to teach you to not suck, after all. So, which one you want me to teach?"

"Spinning Strike?" You say uncertainly.

"Not a bad choice." Claudine nods. "Ok, here's what you do. Hold out your sword, bend it towards your chest, and turn around and swing." You do as she instructs you to do, only for you to feel the world spinning around you.

"Not like that," Claudine shakes her head. "Spin once, and only once. Spin like that, and you're fucked."

"Sorry, Claudine." You groan.

"Okay, let's try this again, and do this right." You then practice the move several time before manage to do a textbook example of the move. "I-I did it!" You shout.

"Of course you did. Happy?" Claudine rolls her eyes. "Now go try it on your new dummy friend there." She waves you off towards the training dummy. You walk towards it and unleash your new technique upon it, causing it to shake violently.

"Well, that's nice." Claudine nods. "And now, we take a break." She lets out a yawn as she sits on the grass, you taking a seat near her.

"So, what made you decide you want to be a Fighter?" Your master asks.

"...I want to be a great adventurer!" You say earnestly.

"For what reason?" Claudine prods again.

"...I wanted to be strong, but now? I feel like I want to be strong to help people and stop from others from oppressing them." You say, remembering Deila.

"Hmm..." Claudine frowns. "Sounds like a pretty long goal." She then says nothing more and lies back on the grass and stares at the clouds listlessly.

You then decide to do the same, many thoughts running through your head disappearing as you gaze upon the clouds.

Thanks for playing.

So, any questions about the world, characters, etc? Might as well archive this thread too.

How long does it typically take to master a class, given a clear effort to learn more about it?
>>
>>44914548
For most people, it would take two to three weeks. But a natural at combat would be able to master a class in a week, at best.
>>
>>44914620
So if we assume we're a natural at Combat, we could have Fighter mastered in like a week?

Mage-Knight here we come.

The fuck needs to train for that?
