/tg/ - Traditional Games

You are Kline Bueller, and you were recently promoted to a C-rank adventurer and fought off a pack of thieving goblins.

And now you were being dragged into shopping by Evelyn, who practically forced you to come with her. Gods, you hated it when she got bit by the fashion bug.

"Kline, here, carry this for me." She shoved a bag into your hands as you let out a groan.

"Eve, look, I've got places to be-"

"It'll be just a minute! I promise! Let's go into that magic store! Come on!" The silver-haired mage drags you into a building with a sign that says, "Magic Emporium".

You really didn't want to waste your time gazing at old magic tomes, but you couldn't just let Evelyn carry all her stuff back, either.

What do you do?

>Ask to go somewhere else.
>Ask Evelyn what is she looking for.
>Just follow her.
>>

>>Ask Evelyn what is she looking for.

Get a trip.

>Ask Evelyn what is she looking for.
>Just follow her.

Having a good mage by your side is invaluable?

Also last thread you said we were classified as a rouge?
>>
>>44864532
"What are you looking for, if I might ask?" You inquire. "More books?"

"No," Evelyn snorts as she frowns at you. "That new staff is in stock, and I want to get it! I can finally be able to power up my magic!"

"Great," You yawn, only for Evelyn to pinch your cheek. "Ow! What was that for?!"

"Come on!" Evelyn then drags you inside the shop.

You take a look around. The shop is stacked with various books, crystals, and the usual curios. You take a gander at bottles of various colors. Potions, you think, of various uses.

Soon, Evelyn returns to you holding some magic rings in her hands. "Kline, which one of these do you want, the red one, the blue one, or the green one?"

>Red.
>Blue.
>Green.
>None, really.

>>44864698
I would if I knew how.

>>44864805
That was a typo. We need to an instructor for that.

>>
>>44864926

What do they do?

>Blue (blue is a good color)

So as of right now we're an unclassed Martial?
>>
>>44864977
The red ring raises offense, The blue ring raises defense, and the green one boosts your speed and evasion.

And yes, that's basically what we are right now.
>>
>>44865010

Oh, changing vote to Green then, I like speedster boosts
>>
>>44864926
"The blue one," You shrug.

Evelyn then places it onto your finger and a blue aura surrounds your body. "There. Now you'll have some protection."

"I appreciate the gift, but why do I need a trinket for-" Evelyn cuts you off as she jabs a finger into your chest.

"Because I won't be around sometimes to put a shield spell onto you every time you go on a mission, you know. Besides, it looks good on you."

You sigh as Evelyn then heads towards the shopkeeper and pays for the things she's gotten and then ushers you out of the store.

"Okay, where do we go next?" She asks you with an earnest look.

>To the armor shop "Steelguard".
>To the weapon shop "Arsenal".
>To the general store "Celine's"
>>
>>44865288
Well, more defense never hurt and with the shield boost we can possibly go with lighter armor without sacrificing all of our protection

>To the weapon shop "Arsenal".

Will choice in Weapons affect our later training?
>>
>>44865369
Well, Fighters use axes and swords and shields, Mages use staves, and rogues use daggers. The branches of those three classes can use different types of weapons, but right now, we're more suited with the sword.
>>
>>44865450

Well I am currently aiming for more of a Swashbuckler sort. Light armor, heavy weapon (cutlass or longsword) and a good leader
>>
>>44865495
We'll just have to see, anon.

>>44865288
"You've gotten what you want, and now it's my turn." You say, turning around and pointing towards the direction of the weapon shop. "We're heading towards Arsenal, my favorite place."

"Speaking of weaponry, have you decided on a class yet?" Evelyn asks.

"I might have," You causally reply. You weren't thinking about getting one just yet. "Why?"

"Because it'll help you when you pick a class, so you will be more stronger and won't have to reply on a Cleric."

"I'll think about it." The two of you enter the Arsenal and you start to browse the rack of swords, looking for one that you prefer.

"Hey, Kline!" Aaron, the shopkeeper calls out to you. "What you're looking for?"

"Looking for a good sword," You reply back.

"Well, you might want to try a shamshir or a longsword if that's what you're looking for!" Aaron calls out.

"Maybe you should get a rapier," Evelyn butts into the conversation.

What weapon do you want to get?

>Shamshir.
>Longsword.
>Rapier.
>Pick one of your own choosing.
>>
>>44865651
>Shamshir.

Because it looks dope and any leader worth their salt has a damn fine looking sword
>>
>>44865651
Get a spear
>>
>>44865748

Why not both? We can use it to take down the larger creatures or hold them at bay but you wouldn't want to be stuck in a goblin warren or a tight hallway with a spear
>>
I vote gladius, and would be partial to a gladius spear combination.
>>
>>44865651
"I guess I'll get a shamshir," You say to Aaron "And a spear and a gladius, too."

"Why a spear?" Evelyn asks.

"You can never have enough weapons." Is your reasoning. You were always a bit of pack rat ever since you were a kid. "Also, I've got some ideas for making weapon combinations."

"Fine, it's your money." Evelyn shrugs as you pay for the weapons.

"Tell me when the combination works out, Kli!" Aaron calls out as you both leave the store. "I will!" You shout back.

Later, you and Eve head back to the guild and sit down near a table and drop your goods next to each other, sighing. "That was exhausting," You grunt.

"Stop being a baby, it wasn't that bad."

"Easy for you to say. You have magic."

Evelyn was about to reply when a familiar voice rings out from upstairs. "Brat! Where the hell are you?!"

Great. As if you didn't have enough problems already.

"You better go see what she wants," Evelyn looks at you worriedly.

You nod and head upstairs to her office. As you open the door, Lora is sitting at her desk, a sour look on her face. "There you are. I got something to say to you."

>"Whatever it was, I didn't do it."
>"What is it, ma'am?"
>"Are you asking me out on a date?"
>>
>>44866186

>"What is it, ma'am?"

"Are those damn roaches back? I swear I got all of them."
>>
>>44865651
Late to the party but if we are taking multiple weapons we need something blunt for cracking natural and forged armour

then we can go full jack of all trades with a weapon for every situation
>>
>>44866186
"What is it, ma'am?" You ask, wondering what was she screaming for you about.

"I want you to do something for me. Here." Lora tosses you a small package with a white ribbon. "Do me a favor and give that to banker in town."

You just stare at her in confusion.

"Well?" Lora snaps.

"Is this a trick?" You slowly ask.

"If you don't deliver the damn package right now, I'll shove my foot up your ass and make you my new foot warmer!" Lora growls, shaking her fist at you.

"Y-Yes ma'am!" You nod and quickly leave the office and rush downstairs. You were curious, but not THAT curious. As you reach the end of the stairs, you bump into a blonde wearing a white robe, bumping into her.

"OW!" She cries out as she falls onto her bum, rubbing her forehead. "Watch where you're going, you little miscreant!"

Her name was Maria, a B-rank Cleric and she was a bit of a snob, considering she was from a noble house. She often acted like she was a princess and expected to be treated as such.

What do you say to her?

>"I'm so sorry, Maria."
>"You're the one that bumped into me!"
>"Did you forget your glasses again?"
>>
>>44866297
Sounds good, anon.
>>
>>44866489
>Calling nobility by name instead of Lady/Lord

She is nobility and must be treated with respect apologize profusely while helping her up
>>
>>44866489
>"I'm so sorry, Maria."

>>44866563
Nah keep it casual, we're guildmates afterall
>>
>>44866563
Social status doesn't really matter in guilds. Most of them, anyway.

>>44866489
"I'm sorry, L-Maria." You really need to learn how to stop referring people with titles in the guild. It was one of the guildmaster's rules, after all. No special treatment.

"Hmph. Getting my robes all dirty..." Maria sniffs. "I expect compensation for this."

"I'll do it later, right now, I'm in a hurry." You pick up your package and bolt out the door before the cleric can stop you.

You soon arrive near the bank, a large building with a sign that has golden letters on it. Heading inside, you see wealthy people making deposits and talking to the tellers. You make your way through the crowd to reach the banker's office, flashing your emblem at the guards as they let you through.

"Mr. Goldyne?" You ask as you enter the banker's office. "I'm from the guild, and I have-"

"About time, boy. Do you have it?" A fat, balding man with gray hair is sitting at a desk and reading some papers, not even bothering to look at you. The nerve.

"...Yes. Here it is." You place the package on the desk and he quickly takes it from you.

"Good job, boy. Here's your reward." Goldyne flings a bag of coins at you and waves you off. "Now shoo. I'm a busy man and I don't need to be bothered."

You sigh as you leave the office and leave the bank. What was in the package, you wonder? Some things were better left alone.

As you reach the guild entrance, Maria is still there, hands on her hips as she glares daggers at you. "Well, commoner? I'm still waiting for my reimbursement."

"...Fine, I'll give you my money." You began to pull out your reward money, but she stops you.

"I have something else in mind." She frowns. "I want you to help me in a mission."

>"What mission?"
>"Maybe later."
>" I'd rather go back to roach hunting."
>>
>>44866935
>>" I'd rather go back to roach hunting."

Snobs a shit, she deserves nothing.
>>
>>44866935
>"What mission?"

You know these rules change when were on mission right?

(why we so beta?)
>>
>>44866935
>"What Mission?"

It's a mission with a cleric who holds a higher rank than us, so we probably won't die and will get a better reward than shitty c-rank quests. Let's not look this gift horse in the mouth while we ride our way to glory. Unless the mission involves shoveling shit in which case let's go poke some badgers
>>
>>44866968
>(why we so beta?)
Because you let him be
>>
>>44866935
" I'd rather go back to roach hunting."
No respect, no work. We ain't a lackey.
>>
>>44866935
"That depends. What kind of mission are we talking about?"

"An escort mission." Maria states.

Escort missions. You heard the horror tales from your seniors about having to babysit spoiled, whiny nobles or merchants and having to deal with wannabe bandits trying to make a name. ...But they were probably just making up stories, right?

"No thank you," You hesitantly ask her. "I'm not really feeling up to an escort quest. I mean, I'd rather go roach hunting again."

"That's perfectly fine." Maria smiles at you, which in your experience in situations like this, was never a good sign. "I'll just inform Mistress Lora that you were making horrid impressions of her last week when you were-"

"All right. You got me. I'll do it." You sigh, defeated. "What time?"

"Tomorrow morning, at the town gates. 9 a.m. sharp." The blonde spoke in a business-like tone. "And don't be late. I expect you to be properly equipped for this mission."

"Yes, milady." You watch her head inside, walking in a manner that befitted someone of her status. At least you were going to get something out of this. Might as well get some sleep before the mission.

You head back to the barracks and enter your room.

What do you do?

>Get some sleep.
>Work on your blade-spear thing.
>Go out and get some items for your mission.
>>
>>44867230
Combining a blade and a spear is a terrible idea lets just practice with each weapon so we can get used to them then get some sleep
>>
>>44867230
>Go out and get some items for your mission.
I can see where this is going, we're getting restraints. They go where we take them.

You put up your weapons and stuff, and leave your room. As you leave the guild, you head towards the magic shop Evelyn dragged you to earlier and head inside. You look around and get those green and red rings Eve had with her and pay for it.

Then you head down towards the general store and wave at Celine, who gives you a friendly smile. "Hey, Kline. Nice to see you back here again."

"Yeah. Say, do you have anything special for sale?" You ask.

"Of course," Celine nods as she grabs a basket of healing potions. "I got 10 potions for 100 gold, and I got five bags of flash balls for 10 gold."

"Sounds good. Can I get some antidotes too?"

Celine nods and gives you a bag of antidotes. "And that comes to a total of... 200 gold."

You pay for the items and thank Celine. "No problem! Come again!" She waves at your retreating back.

Soon, you arrive at the Steelguard and enter the store. You look around at the armors and wonder what kind of armor should you get.

>Pick an armor of your own choosing
>Iron armor
>Chainmail
>Silver chest-plate.

Sorry for the wait, computer's getting laggy.
>>
>>44867543
>Chainmail

Maneuverable and light, we have the ring to pick up any slack on the protection side
>>
>>44867543
>Iron Armour

It gives a +2 against getting stabbed in the gut as opposed to the +1 of chainmail
>>
>>44867230
>She's a cunt

Nah, hope she dies. No tears will be shed.
>>
>>44867689
Agreed. If we're escorting her we're dumping her when bandits attack. If anyone asks, dragons ate her.
>>
>>44867543
>>Chainmail
>>
>>44867543
You decide on the chainmail, and get a spiked shield and an iron helmet while you're in here. You pay for them both and head back to the guild.

After you enter the barracks, you head straight to your room and put up your new gear, and flop onto the bed. This was a tiring day. But you weren't going to let a little thing called adversity kick you in the ass, no sir. Nothing could stop you from being the best adventurer.

The crowing of the rooster awakens you, sending you onto the floor as you fall out of your bed. "Damn bird..." You growl as you check out the clock. It was 8:50 a.m.

"Shit!" You quickly gather your things for the mission and put it in a large knapsack, and head out of the room in a hurry.

"Damn, damn, damn!" You could feel your heart pound violently in your chest as you speed towards the direction of the town gates. A figure could be seen in view, one of them you recognized as Maria.

"Hmph. You were almost late." Maria chides you as she crosses her arms. "Be grateful that I registered us both for the mission and decided to wait early for our client."

"Yeah, yeah..." You mutter under your breath.

Suddenly, Maria turns around and smiles brightly. "Oh, look, here she comes now! Look alive, you fool!" She hisses the last part at you and turns to face a young woman with brown hair covering her eyes.

"Hello, Miss Havar. It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Maria Salzberg, and this is my subordinate, Kilne Bueller." The cleric does a curtesy while you bow as the best you can.

"Y-Yes, I'm charmed." She stammers out, obviously nervous. "A-Are you sure you'll protect me from those hi-highway robbers?"

"Yes, we are experienced fighters. We can handle some lousy bandits." Maria nods.

What do you say to your client?

>Ask Miss Havar her name.
>Ask where is she headed.
>Ask what does she do?
>>
>>44867925
>>Ask where is she headed.
>>
>>44867925

>>
>>44867925
"Um, Miss Havar-"

"Please, call me Delia." The nervous woman offers.

"Erm, Deila. What is your profession?" You ask in a polite manner.

"I d-deal with a delivering service. M-Mostly things from other nations." She twiddles her fingers as she looks at the ground.

"And where are we headed today?" Maria is shooting you a glare, but you ignore her.

"W-We're making a trip to Kaste, the next town over. I-It's quite a trip, so I was worried and decided to hire guild members." Her lips quiver a bit.

"Well, rest assured, nothing will happen as long as we're around." Maria injects herself into the conversation as the smile on her face could mistaken for a smug one.

"I hope n-not." Miss Havar then motions to the carriage outside the gate. "S-Should we get started? D-Do you need anything before we-"

"Miss Havar, please." Maria assures the young lady. "We have everything that is accounted for on our person. Let us be off!" The cleric then grabs your hand rather harshly and drags you towards the back of the carriage.

You really hated how Maria was practically making you her chore boy.

Soon, the three of you were on the highway, heading to the town of Kaste. Delia is looking outside behind the coachman, being overly cautious. Not it was a bad thing; there were reports of bandits in the Grandale-Kaste area.

Maria was lounging across from you, shooting a flat look at you. You were looking out from the back of the carriage, ignoring the looks from the blonde cleric.

What do you do?

>Prepare yourself for an ambush.
>Try to get Delia to relax.
>Pester Maria.
>>
>>44868406
>>Prepare yourself for an ambush.

Never be caught flat-footed.

It ruins your AC.
>>
>Prepare yourself for an ambush.
>>
>>44868406
>Prepare yourself for an ambush.

Try to relax miss. You hired us for peace of mind and we will deliver.
>>
>>44868406
You begin to root through your items and grab your speed ring and put it on your finger near the one where the defense ring is resting on, giving you a blue-green aura.

As you put on your helmet and equip your new shamshir and shield, Maria lazily yawns at your direction, obviously trying to distract you.

After you've finished prepping yourself, you look at Deila, who is still looking outside. "Deila? Don't you think you should relax a bit?" You ask her.

"B-But what about the bandits?" She asks you.

"Miss Havar, please. I hardly believe that they would simply appear out of nowhere, attack us, and demand us to stop the carriage-" She is cut off by an arrow whizzing through the carriage, you being quick enough to push the two women down.

Delia lets out a scream as Maria jumps up to alarm. "Heavens above! We're under attack! Do something, you commoner!"

You quickly stick your head out from the carriage and see, that indeed, bandits are sitting on top of the cliffside, laughing and shouting like hyenas.

"All right!" A deep male voice booms out as you look at the owner, a rugged, grizzly man wearing a leather vest sneers down at you all. "Give us your valuables now, and I promise I'll let you bastards live!"

"NO! Don't do it!" Deila screams."Y-You can't let them have it!"

>"Have what?"
>"Don't worry, I won't."
>"The only thing I'm letting them have is death."
>>
>>44868789
>Damn, calm down. I'm right here. Stop screaming.
>>
>>44868789
>"Don't worry, I won't."
>>
>>44868789
"Don't worry," You look at Deila. "I have no intention of giving them anything. Then you poke your head out from the carriage. "You hear that?! No deal!"

"You're gonna regret that, boy. Men, ATTACK!" The leader roars out as five bandits rush at the carriage, weapons drawn. Maria quickly ushers the coachman and Deila out as you jump out and swing your new sword at the throat of the first bandit that lunges at you, sending him to the dirt.

Another bandit charges at you, but you move quickly and stab him in the chest, hearing his death cry. You then pull out some flash balls and fling them at the other three bandits, blinding them.

"Hurry up and finish them!" Maria's voice rings out as you quickly comply, by cutting the first two down, but the third manages to regain his sight and slashes you on the arm.

Fortunately, it's not serious, and you stab him on the side, causing him to scream and fall onto the ground in pain.

Maria quickly rushes to your side and casts a healing spell on your wound, causing it to close up and vanish. "Honestly, you're so careless! What would you do without me?"

You are about to retort, when you spot the leader moving towards you both with a machete in hand.

"Maria!" You shout, pushing the cleric out of the way as the leader rushes towards you, machete raised.

>Try to block the attack.
>Sidestep and slash him.
>Knock the weapon out of his hand.
>>
>>44869221
>>Knock the weapon out of his hand.

Just cut off a few fingers.

His fault for not using a weapon that properly protects the hand.
>>
>>44869221
>>Try to block the attack.
We have a spiked shield. Honestly, the most that can happen here is that the machete gets stuck in our shield (if it's wood) or deflected entirely.
>>
>>44869221
You steel yourself and swing your blade at his, hitting his hand in the process, causing him to drop the weapon. "FUCK!" He roars out in pain.

With quick movements, you place your blade at his throat. "Any last words?" You grin menacingly.

"GO FUC-" Were the last words the leader uttered out as you slit his throat, watching him fall to the earth in his own blood.

"...Is it over?" Deila timidly asks.

"It's done. We're safe now. Let's move on, shall we?" You all pile back into the carriage and resume your trek to the city of Kaste without further incident.

The sight of Grandale's neighboring city is enough to make you stare in awe. It was an amazing place, tall buildings, flowers in front of beautiful looking houses, and outdoor vendors peddling their wares to passing customers.

"This is awesome." You blurt out.

"Don't get used to it." Maria snaps. "We still have to go back."

"A-Already? Can't you stay a while? I-I'm sure your guildmaster won't mind if you return t-tomorrow!" Deila looks at you two pleadingly.

"Well, 'Lady' Maria?" You pronounce her title with a sarcastic edge, crossing your arms. "Miss Havar is giving us an offer."

"Fine," Maria sighs in defeat. "I do need a shower. You're free to do whatever you want, commoner."

"Much obliged!" You mock bow at her and look at Deila, who is still looking at you. "And can I help you, my lady Deila?"

"I-I-I was wondering if you like to take a walk with me?" She stammers, a blush rising upon her face.

>Of course.
>On second thought, can we stop at the inn first?
>>
>>44869618
>On second thought, can we stop at the inn first?
Let's wash ourselves and relax a minute.
>>
>>44869618
"Hold that thought, because I'm tired." You say.

"O-Oh! I'm sorry! I-I wasn't thinking..." Deila shakes her head. She then leads you and Maria to a nearby inn, which makes the Grandale equivalent look like a house in comparison. "I'll handle everything, so you g-get some rest, okay?"

"Thank you so much!" Maria breathes out heavily as she pushes past you and heads up the stairs. Rude.

As you watch Deila talk to the innkeeper, you walk towards a chair and sit down, letting out a yawn. You wonder if the guildmates' tales about escort missions are partially true. Then again, there weren't too many bandits.

As Deila calls out your name, you get up and take the key she gives you and you head up to your room, ready to take a good, hard-earned rest.

Meanwhile...

"I knew I couldn't trust those damn thieves to steal the crystal!" A robed figure growls angrily.

"Calm down. We've still got a chance. Our agents in the city are still waiting for our orders to kill those guild fools and get our prize." Another robed figure replies.

"They'd better. Our master's plan depends on it." The first robed figure hisses.

>To be continued.

Thank you for playing NAQ.

So, any questions about the world or anything?
>>
>>44869937
What sort of class combinations are viable? Generally anything we conceive, or are there more solid limiters based on magical potential, etc?
>>
>>44870013
Hybrid classes do exist, you just have to master the classes you want to unlock it.

And there's ranks of magic, like a sleep spell is a 1 star spell, or a fire spell is a 2 star spell.

How are you choosing between differing choices? First come first served or you want us to start rolling for priority?
