You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, leader of the Ninth Division of the Seireitei Court Guard, and you've had a long couple of days.

Three days ago, you and Yoruichi finally had your long-awaited showdown with Captain Aizen. The battle was intense, and quite honestly you were losing ground to your opponent before being rudely interrupted by an arrancar of massive power and unknown origin. He called himself “Arturo”, and his arrival seemed to provide Aizen with an option for an immediate and clean exit.

He's left the Seireitei in chaos, with the revelation of his treachery and the murder of the Central 46 leaving the no real semblance of a centralized authority beyond the military rule of the remaining Captains over their respective Divisions. For now that seems to be keeping the peace, but whether things can remain this way indefinitely is something you just can't say for sure.

For now you're trying to relax for the first time since that day, having drawn water for a hot bath. But fate it seems has conspired against you. With a loud crash, someone kicks in the door to your bathroom and starts shouting.

“Where the hell is my son!?” Kurosaki Masaki demands, aiming what looks like a one-handed reishi bow at your face. “I know he came here to find that Kuchiki girl!”

You hold your hands up in defense, the steam mostly shrouding your figure. “Easy, Masaki! Ichigo's fine, the whole mess has been settled for three days!”

“Three days?” Masaki asks skeptically, lowering her bow. “I can't have been more than an hour or two behind him.”

“I take it you didn't get caught by the sweeper?” you ask.

Masaki scoffs. “Please, you'd have to be pretty thick to get caught by that... ah.”

The look of dawning comprehension on your sister-in-law's face is priceless.

“He's recovering over in the Fourth Division barracks,” you tell Masaki with a laugh. “If you'd be fine waiting until I'm out of the bath, I may be able to get you past security.”

“Aren't you sure?” she asks, suddenly quite curious about your choice of words.

You shake your head. “A lot has happened in the last few days. Maybe you'd better sit down, Masaki.”

>The Seireitei, outside the Central 46 compound

You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, and you're in trouble.

Aizen has made good his escape after a battle that tested the abilities of all involved, and a new threat has emerged in the form of the arrancar Arturo Plateado. He had apparently been bound somewhere within the Seireitei, but was set loose after a massive release of reiatsu during your clash. It was Tōsen who fell first under the newcomer's blade, and the spike in Arturo's reiatsu immediately afterward suggests that some sort of absorption took place which made him more powerful.

Arturo Plateado disappeared as well after making a proclamation that he would kill every shinigami in existence, but that has hardly been the end of your arrancar-related woes. No, Rangiku accidentally saw to that when she called in the arrancar who allied themselves with you a century ago. Now they're here, just after the nick of time, for all the assembled Captains of the Seireitei to see.

“Captain Kusajishi?” Halibel asks calmly at your side. “Did we arrive too late to be of assistance?”

You sigh, rubbing at your temples in frustration. "Well, shit.”

“I take it that is a yes,” Halibel frowns. “My apologies if this has become a difficult situation.”

“No, it's fine,” you insist, still holding your head. “It was a good idea, it's just the fight ended even faster than it began. It wasn't anyone's fault.”

The Head Captain shakes his head at you, his face devoid of any visible hints as to his thoughts on the matter at hand... no doubt the result of many centuries of focused practice to achieve that precise effect. You get the distinct impression he's waiting to see how you handle the situation. Others are far more readily readable.

“First Captain Aizen,” Ukitake sighs, “and now you, Lady Riku? Have you truly fallen to the same level as him and allied yourself with hollows?”

>Cool your tits Jūshirō, they allied themselves with me. Not the other way around.
>We allied with each other. You should give them a chance to speak for themselves.

>>Don't you dare compare me to that traitor again, Jūshirō. There's a world of difference.
>We allied with each other. You should give them a chance to speak for themselves.
>Worth noting, Coyote Stark over there is related to like half the American Pantheon. They'll probably be mad if you just try to kill him.

Reasons why we did this:
1. They are actually great people who deserve it.
2. We needed people to keep an eye on the hollows, and it was either them or relying on Mayuri and the SRD.
3. Aizen and his cohorts had the initiative, and a detailed knowledge of our military strength. He's picked this fight because he thinks he can win. As a result, I've spent the last century ensuring that he underestimates the Gote as much as possible so that we could win when he finally came out into the open. As a part of this I lied during my captaincy exam, had my daughter not mention the fact that she's been a captain level fighter for more than 50 years, and yes, I recruited several arrancar to be absolutely sure he catastrophically underestimated what we are capable of.
>>
>>44850429
>First of all, it's not fallen to the same level as Aizen, Don't compare me with him. Second, do you see them causing mass havoc across Seireitei at the moment? No? Third, because Aizen allied himself with hollows to escape, I had to somehow keep tabs on Hueco Mundo incase he escaped there. Four, they're technically not hollows, they're arrancar. And they're of the few who aren't the psychopathic type.
>>
>>44850671
Supporting this. We need to lay it all out and not hold any reason or action back.

>>
>>44850429
There's a difference between stooping down to a dishonorable level and being pragmatic and evening out the playing field against a conspirator in a centuries long shadow war. Aizen played the long game, and for the sake of Seireitei's integrity, I had do the same. I lied, I had to feign ignorance. I had to make alliances with Hollows, something that most would look in disgust. I even had my son Gin risk his life to infiltrate Aizen's inner circle to gather critical intel and play the part as our mole. Trust me, what I did was for the sake of Seireitei's safety. What honor I have left as a shimigami is up for you to decide.

“Hollows?” you ask, your false tone of nonchalance helping you regain a feeling of control. “I don't see any hollows here. Halibel, do you see any hollows here?”

Halibel, ever quick on the uptake, shakes her head. “No, Lady Riku, I see no hollows here.”

“Head Captain?” you continue. “There are no hollows here, correct?”

Yamamoto stares at the scene before him, his face still blank. “While technically correct is perhaps the best sort of correct, I do believe this requires an explanation, Captain Kusajishi.”

You frown back at him, making your disappointment clear. “Head Captain, these arrancar have been my friends for many decades. While I could vouch for their character, they deserve to speak for themselves.”

“Thank you, Lady Riku,” Halibel inclines her head slightly in a bow. “Apacci? Would you be so kind?”

As insightful as Halibel can be, she's never really been much of a conversationalist even among close company. Her words are few, and she can sometimes come across as confrontational without meaning to. It's no wonder she'd delegate the responsibility to Apacci, the most restrained of her more talkative companions.

“Well,” she begins, seemingly choosing her words with extraordinary care, “Lady Riku helped us evolve, so it's only natural we'd be allies... even friends, right?”
>1/2
>>
>>44851071
“You say she helped you evolve?” Komamura growls, outraged. “Why would you do such a thing!?”

“She had compassion, you knuckle-dragger!” Apacci snaps, before suddenly backing off. “Sorry, “Captain” Knuckle-Dragger”. My mistake. Anyway, she saw the kind of life we hollows live and helped us grow out of it. My hole's even getting smaller!”

“Your hole's getting smaller?” you ask, suddenly quite surprised. “Really?”

“The hole in a hollow's body represents the empty heart,” Ukitake muses. “For that sort of condition to heal... how many of you have seen such a reduction?”

Starrk scratches his head, raising his hand almost sheepishly, as if embarrassed to draw attention to himself. So too, Halibel raises her hand as well. Even Mila Rose and Sun-Sung exchange a meaningful glance, but remain silent.

“I see,” the Head Captain muses. “Such an alliance as this is unprecedented. Perhaps we should consider the situation more thoroughly?”

You give Yamamoto a shallow bow, ensuring that your reiatsu is suppressed and your swords sheathed. “I'm glad you're willing to listen, Head Captain. Shall we adjourn to the First Division's grounds?”

“Can't say I expected it though,” Rosa mutters in your mind.

“Now would be a good time to assemble the available Captains,” Yamamoto agrees. “Let us make haste. Captain Unohana, is your patient ready to be moved?”

Unohana nods thoughtfully. “She should make a full recovery, once she's allowed to rest.”

“I'm not crippled,” Yoruichi scowls. “And I'm not gonna die, so quit treatin' me like I'm made of glass!”

With a shrug, you motion for your wife to join you and the other Captains. “There's no sense arguing with Lady Yoruichi. If she says she's fine she'll be fine.”

Along the way to the Captains' meeting, Gin peels off from the main group and heads for the Fifth Division barracks. When he rejoins you, he has a small tin in his hands and a massive grin on his face: a look you know all too well.

“I know where Aizen kept his best tea,” he announces. “The least he can do is treat us.”

The Head Captain actually offers a trace of a grin as well, motioning to his Lieutenant to take the leaves with him. “Many things can be said of Aizen Sōsuke, but at the very least he had fine taste in tea. Good work, Captain Ichimaru.”

“Quite civilized,” Halibel observes calmly, looking over the meeting hall.

Starrk isn't as impressed, kicking lightly at the hardwood floor. “You mean you Captains never sit?”

“During a meeting?” Suì Fēng cocks her head in mild surprise. “Of course. It's been a tradition since before I became a Captain. As much as I'd prefer to sit, we Captains should be seen standing tall.”

There's a long silence, which is finally broken by Shunsui. “I'd like a cushion, Old Man Yama.”

“I could sit down too,” Ukitake agrees, “all this running around has made me dizzy.”

Cushions are rapidly produced by several members of the First Division, who seemingly had been waiting on their Captain's word, and the various Captains, their Lieutenants, and the arrancar are seated. It's then that you begin your story, one hundred years in the making. You spare little detail, explaining first your mission to Hueco Mundo on which you met Halibel and Apacci, then continuing to the night of the Hollowfication incident.

The Captains and Lieutenants listen without interrupting you as you explain your mission to Hueco Mundo that night, and Yoruichi provides details of what transpired while you were away. You then recount your encounter with the hollowfied officers in the forest.

“Lieutenant Kuna infected you?” Unohana interrupts at this point for clarification. “And you say that she had already begun to hollowfy?”

“That's correct,” you nod. “Whatever agent infected her infected me as well.”

“And so you fled into the Seireitei with this agent?”

You grimace. “Not the decision of a sound mind. My last conscious thought was that my Captain needed to know about what I saw. Before I realized what had happened I was too far gone to stop it.”

“But you managed to regain control from this “inner hollow”?” Hitsugaya asks, anticipating the next part of your story.

With a nod, Yoruichi replies. “Not before infecting me by accident. Then it was my turn to face my demons.”

“And the others?” the Head Captain presses. “What truly became of them?”

“Urahara Kisuke managed to stabilize their conditions, using the device the Central 46 claimed hollowfied them in the first place,” Yoruichi explains, somehow managing to contain any bitterness she still feels over the matter.

"They ended up neither fully hollowfied, nor wholly shinigami: what we call the Vizards."

Shunsui seems to piece something together, and sighs loudly. “And I gave testimony that helped clear that little weasel!”

“You were influenced by his zanpakuto,” you reassure him. “It wasn't your fault.”

“I can't speak for everyone,” you try to explain, thinking hard about events a century ago. “But for me, my inner hollow took the form of dark memories from my life... grudges and hatred that I had to come to terms with. It's not unlike Bankai training, but with more screaming.”

“And you can hollowfy because of it?” Suì Fēng asks. Though she speaks to you, her eyes are fixed on her “Lady Yoruichi” instead, betraying her concern.

You shake your head. “No. I made such peace with my inner hollow that I forged it into a second zanpakuto when given the opportunity.”

Yamamoto inclines his head thoughtfully. “Such a thing could only be done with the knowledge and cooperation of the Royal Guard, for those among us who do not know this.”

“I, however, can hollowfy,” Yoruichi continues, briefly drawing out her terrifying jaguar mask before allowing it to dissipate. “Though after this battle, I can't help but think forging it into a zanpakuto would be wiser.”

“How did you subdue your hollow, Lady Yoruichi?” Kaoru asks, seemingly as fascinated by what she's seen as she is disturbed by it.

Yoruichi grins. “Riku knows the answer to this, but how do you think we Shihōin clan heads remember all the pertinent details about ten thousand artifacts and tools?”

“You're geniuses, blessed with great intellect,” Hinamori replies from behind Gin. “Everyone knows that.”

“I'm smart,” Yoruichi laughs, “but not that smart. In fact intelligence has nothing to do with it.”

Kaoru suddenly seems to understand. “The Method of Loci?”

“That's right,” Yoruichi nods.

“It's a technique for remembering pieces of information,” your sister explains to the bewildered Captains. “I've read about it... it's supposed to provide extraordinary recall. It works by imagining a room, then attaching information to a point within that room. Recall functions by association, in a sense.”

and each room has a item Yoruichi can use. it just takes the right combination of rooms and tools to subdue it.

So does anyone besides me think that some captains undergoing hollowification might be a thing in the future? Riku could have very well started a tradition in regards to coming to peace with your inner hollow after you subdue it and forging it into another zanpakuto?

“And my inner world is perfectly suited to it,” your wife continues. “When I was taken there to fight I anchored my inner hollow to a point within my inner world. I can bring it up at my leisure, like browsing in a book shop.”

"So that's one set of questions answered," Shunsui muses. "So when did you help these arrancar... well, evolve?"

"Soon afterwards," you explain.

You allow Apacci and Ashido to explain the day you helped her remove her mask, and for the first time she describes the pain involved. You know it hurt beyond words, but never allowed yourself to consider it. She even describes a moment of doubt, where she questioned whether you might actually be trying to kill her.

"But I decided to put my faith in Lady Riku," she concludes, her display of sincerity rather touching, "and she didn't let me down."

"And why did you go there first?" Hitsugaya asks you, frowning. "You didn't seek help from your own kind first?"

It still requires some sort of infection to take up residence in one's soul, and draw out those negative aspects. In Riku's case Tenkotsuki caused the entity which became "Rosa" to come into being, and she subsequently hijacked the infection that ravaged the Vizards instead of it happening the other way around.

Worth pointing out that we knew an illusionist was running around. Could have just as easily been someone setting up Aizen as the fall guy rather than Aizen having a stooge impersonate him. Frankly, that's what Aizen should have done, but he likes to grandstand. So simply assassinating him was out of the question.

Yeah in the end it had nothing to do with any untrustworthness on the part of the Gotei 13. And for all they knew we could have been making things up to avoid being killed.

“Put yourself in our position,” you reply calmly, “if you even can. Betrayed by a Captain, transformed against our will, and the only other shinigami who knew our situation were either conspirators, sentenced to death for being the victims, or Gin. We had no idea who if anyone in the Seireitei we could trust."

“Gin?” Ukitake asks, nonplussed.

Your adopted son nods sagely. “Gin. I never liked Aizen or his ambitions. If a man's that cruel towards those he deems his lessers, what happens if he claws his way to the top?”

Behind you, you can practically feel Rangiku practically melting in relief.

“You say he means to rule the Soul Society?” Ukitake persists, clearly alarmed.

“Oh heavens, nothing of the sort!” he insists, and Ukitake seems to relax. “He means to preside over all of reality.”

“He possesses what's called shinreiryoku,” you explain, seeking to clarify Aizen's ambitions for the other officers. “Until recently it was more theoretical than anything else.”

“And he was tryin' to get this stuff from that giant spear... bird... thing?” Zaraki asks, straining to keep up.

“If Riku was right, and Suzaku resides in that halberd,” Kaoru muses, pondering the question, “then yes. He probably meant to use its reiatsu, though how I cannot say.”

“On that topic, there are no other gods lying around sealed into pointy objects that I wasn't told about, right?” Yoruichi frowns. “I mean I like surprises as much as the next girl, but it's my damn job to know about things like that. I should have been told ages ago.”

“I was surprised as well,” Yamamoto admits calmly. “I would suggest taking it up with the God of the Sword, as he was likely the one who did the deed.”

“Anyway, it was that same orb that Urahara has that let Aizen absorb the shinreiryoku he has,” you explain. “Somehow Aizen developed his own independently and, well... he stumbled across the Quincy king and ate his reiatsu.”

“The King...” Yamamoto mutters gravely. “Continue.”

“Yamamoto was the one who put him down,” Rosa muses. “This must be troubling news for him.”

“I fought against him well enough, but with his shinreiryoku he eventually turned the tables,” you continue. “It got to the point I was concerned not even my Bankai would salvage the situation for sure, so I kept it hidden.”

“What Bankai?” Shunsui asks, seemingly suspecting you've been up to no good. “You mean to tell me you've been lying about your zanpakuto this whole time?”

“My zanpakuto is exceptional,” you admit slowly. “Tenkotsuki is of divine origin. Who she was before becoming a part of my soul is none of your immediate concern, but her Bankai seems to convert an increasingly large proportion of our reiryoku into shinreiryoku.”

“Who would win in a fair fight?” Shunsui persists.

Tenkotsuki manifests at your side, bowing politely. “With respect, my dear Captains, Aizen Sōsuke does not fight “fair” fights. But if such an unlikely situation were to occur, I would put our power at a slight advantage against his.”

“At least, as it is now,” Rosa interjects, appearing at your side as well. A doppelganger of your own appearance, though clearly a being born of hate despite bearing your features. “He'll seek new strength, and he'll find it. Guys like that always do.”

You wave your hand calmly, and the other fragments of your soul rapidly fade from view. “I'll take it from here, you two. Thanks for the perspective.”

"What about Ichigo an' his friends?" Kenpachi asks after a few moments of stunned silence at the sudden appearance of your swords' manifested forms, seemingly unbidden.

They came from Kurakara town. Also, the reason why Strawberry boy's so strong is because he's Isshin son. His friends are people who are unusually sensitive in reiatsu and developed powers. One of them's a quincy, although since he used Letz Stilt he's not a danger anymore. All that's said and done, they should be monitored due to the unusual qualities their powers exhibit. Tell them that Ichigo is our adorable nephew, Isshin's brat. And is a spiritual anomaly and we'd need to drag Urahara over here for the right words to describe everything going on with him.

His friends are just cute idiot schoolkids who wanted to save their friend, and are anomalous due to being in Karakura town and likely Ichigo's presence, or being a quincy.

We let them in because they'd cause a bit of chaos, disrupt Aizen's plans, and it was interesting to see how strong Ichigo would get from it.

As for what to be done with them, train them or let them go, maybe give them a tour first. We have an arrancar that gets stronger and Aizen with a hollow army to deal with, assuming things don't get worse by Arturo nomming Aizen's troops, and they're not really a danger but could be helpful.

“He was here to help a subordinate of mine who committed no crime,” you explain thoughtfully, “and his friends were here out of personal loyalty to him. Especially in light of a concerted effort to take her life, I decided to turn a blind eye.”

Ukitake casts an uncertain glance in your direction. “Aren't you going to explain who he is?”

“I'd rather not,” you reply with a pointed glare. “The man's earned a little privacy, let him raise his damn family in peace.”

“You mean to say you know who fathered Kurosaki Ichigo?” Yamamoto asks you sternly. “And you have chosen not to say?”

“I have,” you confirm.

“And if I ordered you to tell me?”

“I would refuse, and accept the penalty.”

Much to your surprise, the Old Man relents. “Very well. Tell me of the other humans. What do you know?”

“Karakura is spiritually rich,” you shrug. “There were bound to be a few strong humans cropping up, and Kuchiki's assignment there seemed to trigger an acceleration in their growth. I'd keep a permanent watch on the whole place.”

“Why would he take such an interest in Kuchiki?” Hitsugaya muses almost to himself.

You can't help but exchange a grin with Yoruichi. “Oh to be in the springtime of youth, when a boy's thoughts turn to fancy...”

“What now?” you press the Head Captain. “What happens to my friends? What happens to Gin? When do we start planning to face Aizen?”

“Nothing can happen for some time,” Yamamoto admits warily. “I will seek to begin the reassembly of the Central 46, who will discuss Captain Ichimaru, the arrancar, and your own case.”

“Surely you can't be considering punishing Captain Kusajishi?” Rangiku protests angrily. “If it weren't for us the Seireitei would've been totally blindsided! Her century of fighting a war you never even realized existed has to count for something!”

“If the Central 46 takes such an unfortunate action we will deal with it at that time,” Yamamoto replies. “Until then I would ask that these arrancar remain confined to the Ninth Division's barracks. We must also discern what the ideal plan for counteracting Arturo Plateado will be, for I fear his return signals disaster for the Seireitei.”

“He can shapeshift to take on people's appearances,” Yoruichi tells you, seemingly drawing that knowledge from thin air. “I consulted my clan's records on arrancar some years ago and found him mentioned. His zanpakuto steals the reiatsu of those he kills, so we can expect him to try and sneak back here to murder some Captains.”

“We should double our patrols,” Suì Fēng declares. “With your permission, Head Captain?”

Yamamoto nods in consent, and Little Bee disappears along with Yoruichi to convey the orders personally.

“I'll start figuring out how precisely the barrier than kept him sealed functioned,” Kaoru adds quietly. “It seemed very old. Archaic, even. But if I could lift some of the principles I may find a weakness to help us defend against him. Perhaps even locate him when he's mimicking one of us.”

Aww, but Riku will lessen her Auntie cred!

Probably not going to come up in the next 20 minutes or so, but I'll keep that in mind.

“I'll expect my officer back soon,” you insist, and in response Captain Unohana bows once more.

“You may have Miss Kuchiki back when I clear her to return to duty.”

“Have her powers begun to recover?”

The Captain sighs. “Slowly. It will take time, Captain Kusajishi. These things always do.”

“Very well,” you reply with a small bow of your own. “But for now I need a drink.”

As you rise to your feet you motion for your arrancar companions to join you. “I'll escort you back to the Division.”

“We don't need any escort,” Mila Rose tries to insist before Apacci smacks her across the head.

“You know the shinigami wouldn't take too kindly to that,” she retorts. “Come on, fuzz-butt! What would you do, fight your way back?”

“If need be.”

Apacci seems dumbstruck. “Were you always this much of a muppet, or is this new?”

“Come on,” you insist, grabbing both arrancar by an ear a piece. “We don't have time for this bullshit.”

“Okay, okay, I give!” Apacci squeals.

Your return to the Ninth Division barracks sees widescale shock and awe among your subordinates, who have no idea what to make of an arrancar. Many wouldn't understand the concept even if you explained it to them, but that being said you should probably see to the rumors before they get out of hand.

“Rangiku, please gather up the Commandos and spread word that the fighters in white clothes are to be given a wide berth,” you order. “It's best that we try and prevent any problems that might arise before they get out of hand.”

Ya jinxed it Riku! Now it's an inevitability for Yachiru to snoop around and come to blows with Lilynette.

Several hours and bottles later, the impromptu gathering in your office is in full swing. Even Gin is here, chatting loudly with Starrk and Shunsui about one of his brief trips to Hueco Mundo, which seemingly confirms your fear that Aizen is building an arrancar army.

“You see too many of them were weak to start with,” Gin explains as you listen in over his shoulder. “Had to be that way.”

“Why's that?” Starrk asks, a noticeable blush tinging his cheeks as he pours another glass for a half-conscious Shunsui.

“There were... incidents.”

“Come on, Gin!” Shunsui insists loudly. “Tell me a story before bedtime, papa.”

“Well,” Gin recollects, “let me see... ah, there was one rather lupine adjuchas who made quite the powerful arrancar. But after Aizen worked his magic on her she started laughing and showered us with spikes. Then she ran away... strange, now that I think about it I always had that one pinned as male. It can be quite hard to tell.”

“And did anyone get hurt?” Starrk presses curiously.

“Well we didn't,” Gin explains, sipping at his sake, “but she did kill Luppi by mistake. Too bad, I always found him... her? Whatever Luppi was, it was amusing. Not what you'd call a good person, but there was only one hollow in the place with a sense of humor. Emphasis on 'was'... after that things were rather dull.”

Your relaxation however is unfortunately short-lived, as you're interrupted by a messenger.

“Captain Kusajishi,” the Onmitsu runner bows. “We have a message from the Executive, urgent.”

“What is it?” you ask tersely. “Out with it.”

“Yes ma'am... she wanted you to know that Kurotsuchi Nemu has been captured.”

And unfortunately I'm too tired to carry on much longer. The heart is willing, but the mind is foggy and slow.

Thanks for playing! Hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about why some things played out the way they did, and hope to see you back next weekend! Archive is up for your viewing pleasure, and I'll hang around just a bit for questions.

Thanks King.

So, who's delivering the news to the Vizards that it's open season for Aizen, if Riku's on stand-by? I imagine it'd be extra cathartic for Kensei too, now that Tousen got his comeuppance.

Aye, the very same. I decided it'd be fun to hear about her exploits every now and then second-hand, but she's not directly involved.

But King

That quest gave me hemorrhoids.

Thinking about it makes it worse.
>>
>>44854128
Cute as shit.
>>
>>44854134
just think of only the fun parts of the quest anon and all will be fine.

>fun parts of the quest

Nothing could overshadow the sheer amounts of stupidity, autism, and absolute shit contained within that quest.

Anon I'm scared.
>>
>>44854134
>>44854146
>>44854171
Story time? I missed HQR
>>
>>44854180
I refuse.

It is a journey one must take alone.

Seek it out in the archives and gaze upon it.
>>
>>44854180
Started off very good. Anons made incredibly stupid choices, got mad at the results, became increasingly paranoid, forgot what their whole goal was, got lost in the weeds, it meandered on and ended unsatisfactorally.
>>
>>44854171
but anon, the insanity was the fun part! Ignore the autism, embrace the insane narration! Praise Monologue
>>
>>44854199
As much as I hate to discuss other quests like this, it DID get an epilogue that was more satisfactory than the actual ending. But mostly it was like you said.

Not a nice way for things to turn out.
>>
>>44854180
>>44854199
*Example of the paranoia. An idiot anon was scared for his waifu and misread the situation around thread 50. Sort of like the idiot samefag in this when we got hollofied and he samefagged to run to Yoroichi.

Idiot in HQR samefagged to have waifu steal power from an evil demon and become a total bitch who cared for nothing but power. Anon then cried and tried to beg the QM to fix it and shitstorm etc.

This sort of shit happened 2-3 times before it was baically dead but kept running anyway.

Azure was a fucking trooper but eventually it was pointles.
>>
>>44854199
>>44854235
Is it even worth slogging through?
>>
>>44854128
Thank for running King
>>
>>44854266
The first arch yes. The first few threads were fun especially. After the first big bad is bested things started to get off the rails.

Azure did some fun Omakes and stuff as well but eventually it was one big clusterfuck.
>>
>>44854266
If you get invested it will fill you with righteous indignation.

Yes.

Even though I fucking hate it. I will recommend you at least read a bit of it.
>>
>>44854266
yes. Come for the rhyming cheshire cat hollow. Stay for the insanity and monologuing that infects the narration.
>>
>>44854286
>>44854288
I don't think I have it in me, I just finished Snake Catcher and yeah.....
>>
>>44854300
Snake catcher is over? I missed the last 3-5 threads of that..
>>
>>44854335
It's not over, but I had to catch up and, wew lad. That quest is a bit of a doozy
>>
>>44854035
So Nemu wasn't picked up by the beams? Was the last one actually his couch? Also, we need Urahata here pronto to disarm any traps or spy devices and organisms that Mayuri left.
>>
>>44854366
Okay if that's too much for you then HQR will destroy you.
>>
>>44854380
Nemu is Mayuri insurance to play on two sides.
After all this way he can double his MAD SCIENCE
>>
By the way, does Nemu have a zanpakuto?
>>
>>44854483
She's been shown with one in an artbook, but in canon no, she's never carried one.
>>
>>44854266
There were some genuinely fantastic moments in the quest. And as a whole it was fun up until near the end, it basically felt like Azure was just trying to end something that had got out of hand.

That being said, the threads were often filled with stupidity of the highest order.

On the other hand, if you enjoy the idea of an insane British cat hollow thing, who's insane power is tempered by her increasingly potent ability to make poor life choices, then you will enjoy HQR.

Wolfu is best waifu
