Fighting flares up once more on the surface of the Stonestar Moon, Ahkam forces launching into a sudden suicidal charge against their orthodox cousins. Storms rage around the planetoid, rains unable to quench the flames surrounding the wreckage of two sub-capitol ships where the fighting was fiercest.

There is a ground-shaking explosion as another flaming bulk of a ship punches through the clouds lighting the dark moon as it detonated against the side of the massive volcano. The Lavafathers mountain belches forth great jets of molten stone in a sudden fury as molten constructs stride from glowing pools.

High above the planet Agona's forces hunt down the remaining fighters and dropships, shredding them in a vicious dogfight. Punisher Agona stands in the bridge of her ship watching the remaining ship detonate under another salvo of spine cannon fire from her ships. Another screen showed the world of Rukor where the remaining Ahkam craft draw in their forces and angle their ships toward the gas giant.

Agona turns to the screen with your skeletal face looming over Lorgul and Nekris' own screens. Thumping her fist to her armored chest she salutes, "The Ahkam ships have been destroyed with minimal effort and losses. The rest appear to be readying themselves for a counter attack."

Lorgul interjects from his seat in the cockpit of his Void-Terror, "What are your orders, Lord Jadyk? Send me and my Disciples into battle and we will bring your fury to Rukor."

Predator Nekris stands on the bridge of his submerged corvette with his cloak and armor adorned with the bones of the Diver Sunscales and salutes as well, "My forces are small but we will strike them as their back is turned, just give the order."

They all look to you and await your guidance. It was time for war and your generals thirsted for battle and so they shall have it.

Oh boy, Space war time! Anybody else think we should have Jadyk personally play a role in this battle? It will essentially be the fight that determines control over this system.

The Ahkam craft begin to accelerate out towards Agona orbiting the moon. Their ships accelerate faster than the originals had, their engines burning bright in the blackness of space. The beetle shaped destroyer rushes forward at the center of the flight of ships, corvettes and frigates flanked defensively around it.

Your fleet floats over the surface of Horizons Drops moon, the finished capitol ship pylons gleaming like sunbleached bones in the light of the red giant. Standing on the bridge of your battlecruiser you quickly discuss with your Think Tanks the best way to launch your attack on the Ahkam.

Your fleets, if they left now would arrive shortly after the Ahkam reached the Gas Giant if they used their Void Drives, those equipped with the Skip Drives requiring only several minutes to arrive ready for conflict.

The face of your generals look at your from their screens, waiting your commands.

How shall you fight these interlopers?

Have Jor's escort drop him off on Horizon's drop and pick up Jadyk himself. Have Jor look after the planet in our stead while we move the fleet to intercept the Akham fleet once it reaches the gas giant. Before the Akham reach either Argona's or our fleet, have Lorgul and his voidknights test their void screamers out by spearheading the attack. Then have all our ships converge on the fleet, bringing more boarding troops to back up Lorgul in support.

I'm not sure about exact fleet makeup, but I'm all for Lorgul sweeping in to help Agona mop up the reinforcements.

Seems to be mostly agreed to send Lorgul ahead with reinforcements to intercept the Ahkam ships. Jadyk arriving to help as well in boarding actions.

I'm going to cheat a little bit and say that your ships currently have Skip Drives installed which would transport your fleet into the system quickly.

How many do you wish to send?

Currently in system you have

Your hand stretches out and your spear slithers out of your armor and reforms in your grasp. Clacking your jaw in determination you thrust your spear forth, "Let the New Necrotic Armada make its appearance. Lorgul, you and your Disciples shall take point. Show them the fury of the Voidknights Reborn. Glory to the New Necrotic Armada!" your voice carrying throughout your fleets and your forces picking up the cry of battle.

Ships charge their drives before disappearing one after another in small flashes of light. The Plainsrunners making their way to the colony looking up to see the glittering mass of lights in the night sky. Red-Leaf-Strains strokes the dreamstone, wishing you luck as the herd continues its journey.

Lorgul and his Disciples are the first into the system, appearing with three brief flashes of light at the edges of the asteroid belt as the Ahkam forces were clearing it. Your crit crawls had been completely unable to latch onto the ships, their shields vaporizing a handful before the rest moved out of the way.

The ships of the Ahkam turn their weapons in the direct of Lorguls ships, weapons fire and flak filling the void. The trio of Void-Terrors twist and swerve through the attacks, their shields glowing and crackling with disintegrating flak as the void-screamers and chainflensers fire their first salvos. The shields of a single frigate crackle under the intense volley and fizzle out as several Acid Drop missiles splatter then ignite against the ships hull burning brightly.

A secondary volley follows, striking against the hull of the wounded frigate and then a third as the weapons of the black ships fire faster and faster with each shot. One of the Disciples is struck by turret fire and sent spinning with its shields flickering but Lorgul quickly reduces the turret to a smoking stump with concentrated void-screamer fire. The powerful void weapons fire in long pulses acting more like a flayer now as the chain-flensers fire rapidly against the swarms of fighters beginning to intercept them.

A salvo of fire from Agona's fleet strikes against the shields and hulls of the incoming ships. A necrotically charged spine cannon volley from her own cruiser shattering the frigate that Lorgul and his Disciples weakened. The ships return fire in retaliation, a corvette near Agona's ship exploding from the Destroyers opening salvo.

There was a sudden flurry of Nails and weapons fire from the asteroid belt, striking against the backs and engines of the Ahkam craft, Nekris's cruiser emerging with his corvette and his nails from the moon and asteroid belt leaping into battle.

Shields flicker then fade from an Ahkam cruiser, the winged ship torn apart by a swarm of nails tearing into its hull and shattering it's weapons. Missiles pock the hull with explosions as move to dock alongside the shattered bulkheads and unleash their boarding parties. Talons and Stingers flood into ships with Trolls tearing against bulkheads with their fists or heavy weapons.

A small star blossoms nearby signalling the arrival of Jadyk and his fleet. The Destroyer tries to turn in time to block against the salvo fired the instant your ships appeared but it's ships flicker then shatter as slugs and necrotic energy slam into its hull. The remaining frigate is shattered under your battlecruisers weapons, spine cannons charged personally with your power.

Your sub-capitols rush into battle, bringing their turrets and weapons to bear on the Ahkam forces. They focus mostly on crippling and disabling but you watch as an injured corvette accelerates suddenly, ramming its hull into one of your own corvettes and its overcharged engines and core detonate engulfing both ships in a ball of fire that scorches and damages the hull of a nearby cruiser.

Your battlecruiser trades fire with the Destroyer, necrotically charged attacks striking the rough hull and tearing off chunks as fighters churn in a deadly melee between the ships.

Soon your ships have either disabled or boarded all but the Destroyer through overwhelming numbers. The destroyers weapons have been burned off, gaps in its hull leaking atmosphere before bulkheads seal shut. Its engines fire in a desperate attempt to flee, its hull arcing with sudden electricity.

The prize that was the Destroyer was too tempting to let flee. A quick command and Lorgul and his Disciples, ships bearing the first of their battlescars, swoop in behind the capitol ship. Their Void-Screamers fire in a near constant stream of destructive energy, the trip of ships aiming for the largest of the engines. Another round of acid-drop missiles shatter against the engines and one of the secondary thrusts flares with a small explosion before going dark.

The devastating attacks from the void-screamers splitting and imploding metal and circuitry until the engines go dark and the ship begins to drift. It's few remaining weapons turn on Lorgul and his ships but they deftly dodge out of the way, firing with rapid-fire chainflensers as they pass.

Your fleet spreads itself among the surviving ships, a frigate and pair of corvettes in addition to the Destroyer being swarmed by Nails and Coffins unleashing Reconstructed soldiers that swarm into cracks in the shattered hulls. Leaping from your coffin spear in hand as a group of trolls with heavy shields leap out beside you. A troll nearby carries a void repeater ready to hand it off to you.

Lorgul and Nekris each enter the ship in a different section, their soldiers flooding behind them as they charged down hallways and shatter bulkheads. Talons and stalkers bounce from wall to wall in the low-gravity tackling ahkam troops or shredding them with shardspitter fire. Troops exchange fire with Stingers and trolls steadily advancing down hallways, their shields forming a wall as their taloned feet keep them anchored to the floor as they marched.

Your shardspitter burns through armor and flesh just as easily, necrotic and void infused flechettes ripping through them like tissue paper filling the low gravity air with globules of gore and blood. A group of Tyrre charge you, their eyes the pure white of their berserker rage as foam flies from their fanged maws. Thermal blades and bare claws lash out at you but your tall size belies a quickness as you dodge their attacks, retaliating with a spray of shardshipper flechettes ripping away the face of a tyrre and your spear striking off an arm then the throat of the beast next to it. Troll bodyguards leap into the fray, thermal axes and void weighted maces butchering the warriors.

Revenant Lorgul charges through the halls ahead of his forces leaving soldier shaped stains splattered against broken bulkheads. An epikor in a powered exoskeleton levels a large rotating cannon and unleashes a hail of burning metal against the voidknight, shredding a handful of kosda and epikor soldiers standing between them.

The knight shrouds himself in voidflames and thrusts his hand forth, a glimmering shield of twisting void light forming in front of him as he charges down the hall. The shield consumes the projectiles of the weapon as the Voidknight rushes towards the increasingly panicked troops. His void weighted maul swings with impossible speed and the headless body of the epikor droops as a fine spray of gore splatters the hallway.

Predator Nekris slipped away from the bulk of his boarding forces, slipping down darkened hallways with his shadows moving silently with him. His cloak and diver bone trophies left behind the four-armed general silences unsuspecting ahkam soldiers with a flash of thermal edged vibroblades. His lost hand replaced by the mummified claw of one of the Divers in morbid tribute.

Shadows fire their sting whips from ducts and cracked bulkheads, soldiers drifting and twitching and potent venoms course through their bodies or yanking them into the darkness with a screams abruptly silenced.

Reconstructed forces press their way steadily through the hallways of the ship, emergency lights flashing a strobe alongside necroflenser and flayer fire. A main hallway offers much resistance to your troops with automated turrets laying down covering fire that reduces several stingers and talons to crumbled bone and chitin. Soldiers hide behind barricades popping out to fire with blasters or rifles.

You find a group of your reconstructed popping out to trade fire with the main hallway. A brave stinger rushes out to fire an incendiary grenade from its thumper, screams of burning defenders and a hail of gunfire answering and crushing the stinger. You spot Lorgul and Nekris both meeting up and waving to you across the hallway littered with corpses.

All that remained was the bridge, the point of heaviest resistance.

The troll hands you your void-repeater and Lorgul takes his own. Trolls step forth, a wall of shields as reconstructed follow in their shadow shooting in the gaps between shields. You and Lorgul step out void-repeater launching bolts of screaming energy.

He wielded his mounted over his shoulder, firing bolt after bolt until he firing in long bursts of destructive energy. Yours floated over your shoulder, telekinetically held in place as you use the shield of a fallen troll to guard yourself, twisted blade of the spear leaping with necrotic bolts that rake across fortifications with ahkam troops screaming in agony at the attack.

Heavily armored Tyrre rush out, their bodies plated in spiked armor with thermal blades jutting from their bodies at odd angles. Void repeaters sweep across them, Nekris hollowing the skulls of several with his carefully aimed spine caster but several clash with your troops, grinding stingers against their armor and lashing out with enhanced strength.

Your spear flies through the air, impaling two to the wall as your void repeater shreds armor and flesh from bone. A swing of Lorguls maul cratering one into the ground with a sickening crunch of blood and bone.

Several Shadows line up behind the row of shields, their javelin launchers lifted and fired. The grenade loaded spears sail through the air, embedding themselves the wall behind the soldiers and turrets before detonating with a mix of incendiary and shrapnel explosives.

Taking the chance your forces charge forth and Lorgul storms over the barricades alongside a surging tide of Talons. His maul erupts with void flames as he takes a mighty swing and sunders the heavy blast door. Weapons fire answers them through the dust forcing the Voidknight to throw up another voidshield against the onslaught.

Your spear zips through the air to return to your hand, the blood soaking the twisting metal soaked up and drunk. Reconstructed group at the bottleneck, stingers launching grenades of irritating and suffocating gas into the room. Glancing at your spear you notice electricity starting to arc between the twisting metal.

There was a sudden taste of ozone before a bolt of blue lightning cracks out of the bridge and strikes Lorguls shield. The shockwave and thunder send the Voidknight careening through the air head over heels to smack face first into an opposing wall in the center of a Lorgul shaped crater.

He pries himself free of the wall just in time to see a flash of blue scales crackling with arcing electricity slither from the bridge.

A serpent several meters in length emerges from the smoke of the bridge, a lashing tail of blades slicing through several talons and stalkers that attempted to pounce on the beast. A broad hood of blade-like scales flares as a maw of fangs yawns wide with bolts arcing between them before another bolts strikes through several stingers and trolls.

It turns its gaze to you and Nekris, Lorgul's maul flying through the air to rejoin his grasp. The serpent hisses, it's voice reverberating through the hull of the ship, "You DARE attack the Ahkam!? Your flesh and bones shall roast in the star for your impudence!" the serpent's voice thick with revulsion and spite.

The weaker of your forces fall back, Talons unleashing a hail of necroflenser fire and sharspitter flechettes that hardly distract the creature. Stingers and trolls fire with their weapons hoping to drown the beast under overwhelming firepower.

Lorgul picks himself up, a sphere of violently twisting void energy hovering above his hand before he thrust out his palm sending the deadly sphere jerking towards the small Ahkam. The blue-scaled beast twists, it's body crackling with energy before launching a bolt of lightning at the sphere striking it then to everyone's shock, blasting through it with another bolt that strikes the Voidknight dead on the chest.

He is thrown back once more, portions of his armor flying off in various directions as he was punched through the crater he'd made only moments before. You can feel his mind dazed and distant, his body badly damaged and most likely missing portions.

Nekris darts with supernatural speed, his spine caster firing necrotically infused shots dripping with a toxic mix of venoms. You watch several puncture the scale making the beast snarl and writhe as it blasts a bolt at the hunter ducking under an overturned barricade to avoid the bolt but the shockwave of thunder sends him tumbling and dropping several of his blades.

The serpent readies another blast but a pair of void-repeater blasts rip across it's back with screaming energy making it recoil in agony. Both your and Lorguls void-repeaters float near you, firing pulses of deadly energy at the creature who guards itself with the crackling energy dancing across its scales. It directs a bolt at you but you fly backward out of the way, void-repeaters tearing away chunks of its armor.

A bolt finally strikes true, punching you in the chest and turning your world white. The universe is nothing but blank electric pain, dimly aware of your body collapsing to the ground and the distant rush of thunder vibrating your form.

You are dimly aware of the static charge filling the air once more and as you finally gather your wits you look up to the serpent looming over your body. Energy arcs along its body, filling its maw as it stares down at you. The hood flexes and it prepares to blast you point blank with its power.

Just moments before it's final attack you spot Nekris sailing through the air, your spear in his grasp ablaze with necrotic energy. His wordless shout distracts the beast only moments before he impales it through the back of the neck, planting his feet on the hood and gripping the spear with both hands. The young Ahkam screams with sudden agony, thrashing and blasting blindly with it's lightning.

Nekris rides the struggling beast, the spear spreading like roots into its flesh as he drains it of its power and life-force. Slowly you stand, bones creaking as the beast collapses with Nekris standing on top of it.

Your rage flares and you storm forward, ignoring the hole blasted through your armor, "IMPUDENCE!? You dare speak about IMPUDENCE to Jadyk of the Wormstar!? I have see true gods live and die and I find yours wanting!"

Predator Nekris looks to you, awaiting your order.

The beast is subdued and dying, what shall you do with it?

enslaving it will only make it an unwilling slave like the colonists and I don't think it will come around like Jor.

Though I supposed we could let Nekris drain its powers later on and toss the corpse into the cauldron for research and/or general

And like >>44831815 said. You will have the chance to study the body later like you did with Krotur and Estrkri.

I always intended to write-in vote to put it through the cauldron process to make it a hero unit. It won't have a choice.

Nekris drank deep of the young Ahkam's power but you motion him away, the Predator reluctantly pulling the spear from it's body. The weapon slithers through the air like a snake itself, the blood drunk into the metal before it even reached your grasp. You stride forth, body creaking and armor grinding but you stand before the beast's large head.

It looks at you with eyes bleary with pain and toxin from Nekris' attacks. The fanged mouth tries to open but you plant your foot on its snout and close it. Snapping off a portion of your armor you infuse it with the ancient runes of domination gifted to you from the Wormstar so long ago.

The chunk of chitin pulses with power as you thrust it into the scales between its eyes. The body writhes with agony as it attempts to resist your power. Energy crackles along its body, a last ditch effort as it focuses on the shard of necrotic power until with a loud pop the shard shatters.

The serpent chuckles, blood leaking from it's mouth as it stares up at you with a smoking wound where the shard had exploded, "You fail, corpse. The Ahkam will crush you to dust, just wait and see..." it's voice fading until its last breath sighs out, eyes going dim.

You clack your jaws in frustration at the loss but you look to Nekris. He stands there watching you and the corpse of the serpent Ahkam, his body crackling lightly with blue electricity that slowly fades in frequency but his eyes still flashed blue on occasion. It wasn't all for naught it seemed.

Think Tanks leave your ships, floating across the void between your ships and the Ahkams trailing long tails of domination spikes behind them. They float through the captured ships visiting the prisoners guarded by reconstructed, domination spikes shooting into the chests of captured foes.

Sub-capitols move to restrain the floating ships between themselves with cables of tendon and metal, the battlecruiser docking with the destroyer as troops move between the ships. It would take some time to strip the ships of available resources or loot them but for now it seems your hold on the system is complete.

We should take the corpse to the two planets showing off that the Ahkam are false gods
>>
>>44832453
Did the Ahkam need to be alive to turn it into a Hero unit?
>>
>>44832514
This. Tour the two planet to show that the Ahkam are not gods.
Then toss the tosser into the Cauldrons.
>>
>>44832514
Yes.

Just nail its fucking corpse over the bow of our ship, and have Jadyk sit on the hull directly over the crucified body, just so we can fly over Rukor and the lava world shouting "WHERE ARE YOUR FALSE GODS NOW, FOLLOWERS OF THE AKHAM!", or something fun like that.
>>
>>44832453
Lorgul is quickly carried by his Disciples into the battlecruiser and placed into the Cauldron near the core. Biomass is pumped into the cauldron from storage tanks used to repair or create soldiers now hoping to heal the comatose general. Your spear slips from your grasp to dive into the liquid of the churning Cauldron and moves under its own volition, multiple tines of black metal helping reconstruct the Voidknight.

The young Ahkam corpse could have some use before it was given to the Cauldrons to study and you ponder how to use it. Nekris stoops down and rips several of the dagger sized fangs from its maw as trophies, handing the largest to your for your wall back on Horizon's Drop.

Parade it through Rukor and the Lavafathers moon?
>Y/N?

>>44832525
It did. Creating a hero unit require utilizing the sacrifices natural powers and abilities. That's why Krotur created Nekris a super agile hunter and Estkri became Agona the undead equivalent of a mobile bunker

The fresh corpse of the Ahkam is stapled to the hull of the Heavy Cruiser, a blue streak against the dark hull. You depart the Destroyer, letting Think Tanks handle the task of picking it apart and dragging it out of the gravity well of the gas giant.

The large cruiser descends through the clouds of the Lavafathers moon, lightning strikes repeatedly drawn to your craft. Where once they had wrecked havoc with shields and charred hulls the lightning was drawn harmlessly to the corpse, diffusing the energy and only serving to hightlight your arrival.

The world below was embroiled in war, Ahkram stonestars clashing with Lavafather stonestars and obsidianborn constructs on the slopes of the great volcano and around the wreckages of the Ahkam sub-capitols. Your ship releases a booming cry that echoes across the continent as it drops fast only to stop only few hundred meters before the thickest of combat surrounding a downed frigate.

Your voice resonates from the ship as the fighting pauses, eyes staring up at the illuminated craft and the corpse dangling from it's hull, "BEHOLD FOLLOWERS OF THE AHKAM. YOUR FALSO GODS ARE MERE SERPENTS AND THEY HAVE BEEN FOUND WANTING. THE POWER OF THE CONQUERING WORM SHALL BREAK THE YOKES OF SERPENT SUBJUGATION. CAST DOWN YOUR FALSE GODS."

While it was not one of the great pale serpents seen fighting alongside spacecraft it was undoubtedly Ahkam and you watch as the battles slowly dissolve as your ship passes over them, repeating the message.

You continue for another hour before the ship lifts off and departs, moving to repeat the proclamation over the villages of the ructu. Your enslaved members nearly weeping in joy at your arrival and proof of their freedom. Even those among the villages that had willingly worshiped the Ahkam had had their faith tested by the rough treatment of the soldiers, the sight of the corpse strapped to the hull of the ship drifting over them only serving to further test their faith.
>>
So how shall our rule of the Rukor be? Stern but fair, or unjust slavery? i mean we don't need much from them except tithes of food and metal, in exchange unlike the Ahkam we can increase their tech levels to get greater yields and loyalty.
>>
>>44832979
Don't forget taking their corpses when they die.
>>
>>44832979
What about leaving them be for the most part, although if they wanted they could donate their dead to us. And maybe a few animal sacrifice or plant offerings, not too much that they destroy the ecosystem though.
We just need biomass. If they want to fight with us of their own accord, all the better.
This could be our protocol with the Ructu and the Stonestars, except that the Stonestars are to be under Lavafather.

Alright I think I'm going to call it here. Hope folks had fun, I know I did. Seemed like a good action-packed thread to celebrate the 25th thread.

Thread archived, please vote for it if you can. Hope to see you all next thursday on the next run.

I'll stick around a bit to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to use thread to post ship/troop ideas.

And if there is anyone still around
