Created a Legion for my own purposes in Warhammer 40k. The premise goes.

The Blessed are one of the two lost First Founding Legions which were wiped from Imperial records by the Emperor during the Great Crusade, becoming nought but myth. After there excommunication by the Emperor, the legion sought revenge against the Imperium . The Chaos God Nurgle heard their cries for revenge, in an attempt to sway them to Chaos, he bestowed upon them his plagues and turned them into Plague Marines, completely against their will.....and much to Nurgle's surprise, it just made them hate the Chaos, especially Nurgle but much to the surprise of everyone they decided to use their new found abilities to combat whoever they saw as a heretic (read: Everyone), however he only got half of the legion, the other half escaped his plagues by simply being somewhere else, only to suffer a worse fate (they got turned to ghosts). Their Primarch's name has long been forgotten, having his name wiped from Imperial records and The Blessed refusing to give up his name, seeing it as only they are deserving to know his name.

It has potential.

People told you in your other thread that it was a retarded idea already. If you want something cool, original and most of all lore-friendly do a heretic Grey Knights force. You know all corrupted and shit.
>>
>>44587391
I think you have something going here, but get rid of the lost legion and make them renegades, it's less Mary sue and more fluffy. Could you represent this army with codex space marines, or CSM?
>>
Did you seriously already archive this thread with 6 replies and absolutely nothing of any value?
>>
It's an alright premise. Change the legion stuff to a chapter and maybe rework the color scheme, it's a little too close to Blood Angels.

>The Blessed are one of the two lost First Founding Legions which were wiped from Imperial records by the Emperor during the Great Crusade, becoming nought but myth.
This is dumb. Anyone who makes their custom chapter one of the 2 missing founding chapters is just fishing for special snowflake points. Lurk More.
>After there excommunication by the Emperor, the legion sought revenge against the Imperium
Literally what? Why were they excommunicated? Explain any of this...
>The Chaos God Nurgle heard their cries for revenge, in an attempt to sway them to Chaos, he bestowed upon them his plagues and turned them into Plague Marines, completely against their will.....and much to Nurgle's surprise, it just made them hate the Chaos, especially Nurgle but much to the surprise of everyone they decided to use their new found abilities to combat whoever they saw as a heretic (read: Everyone),
So, they're plaguemarines (CSM)? dafuq? This is the rambling of a 12 year old edgelord. If you want to play plaguemarines, play CSM.

My warband just spent so long in the warp that their armor stated to shift colors and textures to the point that no two of them are the same color at the same time (This was mostly because I never liked the idea of having all my models being uniform.)

Alright. Well let me boil it down as much as I can.
> A large diverse (12? That's probably WAY too many...) Deathwatch squad is lost in a spacehulk that becomes operational and flees into the warp
> A great deal of information is stored onboard
( stuff that's pretty much general knowledge to 40k fans)
> Before they manage to escape the warp
> The realize they are now BURDENED with this knowledge they are forced to band together, forfeit their previous chapter affiliations, and create a new chapter to hide their identities.
>>
>>44601528
I wanted a self-aware Chapter. Aware of the universe around them. (Not to have them run around screaming "I already knew that") In this universe just stating MOST facts aloud would get you killed for Heresy. They would technically know everything about the universe that I know to be established facts within their universe. I can't say whether or not if the Emperor died that he'd come back as the Star Child or whatever. So neither can they. But they know of the odd rumor and speculate within their ranks.
They would be an incredibly small Chapter. It would be fleet based; made up of between 200-250 Battlebrothers that act solely by intervening and bolstering numbers in exsisting conflicts. Without a true founding Chapter they would have no recruitment worlds. They would rely solely on secretly converting individuals from other Chapters who are believed to have fallen in the battles they participate in.
They, outwardly, claim to be a Chapter of ~500 and that all knowledge of their founding was lost. But they behave as an extremely friendly, outgoing, and welcoming Chapter. They are eager to help their distant brothers whenever nessicary. Their combat regiment is fairly evenly rounded (jack of all trades, master of none) but with (decent enough) strategic minds to put their small numbers to the best of use.
While they are only two to three Companies strong; their first Company poses as their second allowing leadership to be claimed to "elsewhere" for convenience at all times. Their true second company acts more nebulously by going on individual quests to find converts, seek the validity of the secrets they already hold, or to discern further truths.
>>
>>44601537
To them knowledge is, in actuality, a burden. They know with their small numbers that there is little they can to to sway the outcome of what is around them. They can't risk outwardly sharing what they know. Even leaving fragments of their knowledge behind for others to find would only further attract the attention of the Inquisition (If they don't already have it)
>>
>>44601528
>>44601537
>>44601546
It really all happened because I could never really settle on a single Chapter that I liked the most... so I somehow wanted to merge the bunch I really liked. I wanted them to be a smaller group anyway. The "knowing stuff" is really to me just a way to tie them together and have sort of a two-sided chapter; one the imperium sees and one as how they truly are.
> I originally wanted them to be called The Swords Of Terra
But then I was like "wait isn't that the name of a ship already in 40k?"
I also wanted them to be white with gold trim and deep blue pauldrons but then I was like "wait... isn't that the color of pre-heresy World Eaters?"

there are already two instances of ghost marines in the fluff.
one is the Legion of the Damned, which is the Fire Hawks lost in the warp, becoming enigmatic apparitions that randomly pop-up in battles to help imperial forces fighting hopeless battles.

the other is a bunch of dead grey knights that appear alongside a grey knight hero when he goes to battle.

they are special snowflakes enough. there's no need for more.

you can try a darker, tarnished gold look for the trim, or go for a bronze look.

have the white be an off-white, or straight cream color (like pre-heresy Death Guard).

It's not too bad.

The only problems I can see that are insurmountable are as follows

>Starting number
Too low. 12 just seems too low a number to start a new chapter. Maybe 20 or 30 would be better. Also more likely. Space Hulks can be X-Bawks Hueg and nobody would send just a dozen in with any hope of finding anything. Usually on salvage missions its a whole company job but if an Inquisitor sent them on to find one specific thing that they knew the general location of then maybe they would send a few dozen at minimum.

>Their ship
Why do they need one? They have a Space Hulk. If one of them, more likely combined efforts of the Librarian and tech-marine, figures out how to steer it then they have a kickass base. Just a mildly heretical one.

I like the notion of them being more accepting of human frailties and the oddness of other cultures. If they were founded from a mix of diverse chapters then they would have to learn to be at least a little tolerant or they would kill each other.

The belief that the Emperor isn't a god is pretty normal for the chapters. The belief that he is going to come back is also fairly common. If they were part of the Inquisition then they would be more knowledgeable about the universe than most marines anyway and marines are usually more knowledgeable than regular soldiers because of the nature of their job. So having them get access to some Inquisitorial black-box archive buried in the hulk on some long forgotten Inquisition ship is not going to totally shatter their world view. The recovery of the Black-Box might have been why they were sent in the first place

One way that they could survive is after exiting the warp they run into the Inquisitor that sent them in in the first place. He was in his prime when they last saw him. A grim figure of hellfire and zealous passion striding into battle at their side and swinging a thunderhammer like a boss.
>>
>>44601801
I've been toying with a few different things.
I went with white and gold because of their pristine or "angelic" appearance. Sort of fit to me that they want to appear to the imperium as this great savior-esque chapter.
A grand outward image that hid that they were all a group that could never discuss who or what they truly were and had to guard almost every word they spoke aloud.

>>44601860
Now he is 500 years older. A humble old man who has learned some valuable and painful lessons. The loss of an entire strike-team of the Emperor's angels of death has been a millstone around his neck for centuries. And on an unnamed the field of battle all of his old ghosts come marching out of the smoke just how he remembered them.

In gratitude he took them as part of his official retinue. They were considered lost 400+ years ago as far as the Imperium is concerned and he has accumulated enough favors with enough important people to loose them in the paper work.

Where are they going to recruit from?

Marines getting lost on the battle field is not a viable source. It happens way too rarely. Also most would fight tooth and nail to get home. Oaths of loyalty would compel them to do as much and if you try to stop them they you or they have to die.

Keep in mind the sheer fucking size of a Space Hulk. They can be a single ship in size to the size of a an astronomical body. Millions of years of ship accumulations till you end up with something the size of a hive-city with a population of monsters.

Assuming its on of the bigish ones then, with a lot of work, it could be made into a society with enough inhabitants and a standing population sufficient to keep your chapter sustained indefinitely. The problem is the rebuilding.

90%+ of the Hulk is going to be uninhabitable. Poisonous atmosphere, open to vacuum, too hot, too cold, too radioactive, no light, no gravity and worst of all no warp-proofing.

Not considering tribes of Hrud, gene-stealer nests, ork pilgrims, ship rats exposed to warp for generations and deamonic things.

Cleaning the Hulk out would be their first campaign together as a chapter if they wanted to call it home.

Population could be obtained by offering a new home to those fleeing war. Imperium has no shortage of that. Technical expertise could be obtained by offering sanctuary to tech-priests fleeing political shit storms or theological disputes. Having marines from a dozen different chapters could teach the young chapter tolerance and this would teach them at least a little compassion.

This would go easier if the old as balls Inquisitor came with them. I can imagine him doing. Partly to keep an eye on them and make sure he hasn't made a terrible mistake.

eh, whatever. just use him as a chapter master with command squad or whatever option GK have. customisable gear!

or better yet, don't play the shitty system that 40k have become.

I like an argument with facts to back it up. The "Safe Haven" idea definitely fits my theme. This is now headcanon.

Thank you.

you said about having a chapter numbering about 200 - 250.

Power Armour is going to be a problem. The chances of getting a tech-adept versed in the mysteries of its construction are slim.

Your dudes are going to either have to buy it or take it illegally from the battle field.

Buying it is fucking expensive.

Taking it from the field is risky. You are either going to have to hunt down warbands and hope you find one that isn't growing tentacles out of its ass and hope that the exorcism and cleansing ritual work or take it from fallen Imperials. Taking it from fallen Imperials is likely to get you an inter-chapter blood feud.

I'm seeing an overly large scout company as a result of this? You live on a Space Hulk so space suits are going to be common. Void suits with carapace over the top would be way more common than actual power armour for this chapter.

One can assume that their primary tactic before they built momentum was to hit the armor with a hammer until it stopped trying to mutate or run away, then covering it it in large numbers of imperial sigils.

I just got the image of a marine or techmarine with a hammer chasing around a piece of power armor trying to beat the shit out of it and throwing aquilas at it.

I personally tossed around a concept for my own lost legion. The gist is
>Primarch is obsessed with conquest, based off of Alexander the Great
>Legion makes heavy use of jetbikes and terminators armed with power spears and storm shields
>Pushes his legion to ever greater lengths to conquer worlds faster
>Legion takes massive casualties on a regular basis, Emperor worried that the legion will wipe itself out unless it stops to regroup and re-equip
>Sends Guilliman to censure the legion
>Primarch reacts with hostility, Guilliman asks to speak with him alone
>Traitors within the legion detonate the engines of the neutral ship that was being used for negotiations
>In the confusion a three way battle develops between the Ultramarines, the loyalists of the legion, and the traitors of the legion
>When the dust settles Guilliman is wounded, the primarch of the other legion is dead and most of his legion has been wiped out in the fighting. The traitors are executed, and the loyalists who survived are mind wiped and inducted into the Ultramarines
>Emperor has the legion stricken from the records to hide the idea that space marines could potentially turn on their primarch

Hmmm. I like this idea.

It's like with the Silver Skulls, but much more hardcore.

I'm imagining it being a bit of a clusterfuck of religions.

If the original members were taken from a dozen different chapters you can bet your ass that they would try to hold on to their old beliefs and make some attempt to try and teach them to their new recruits and to some extent the mundane humans they pick up.

And those refugees you pick up from a dozen different worlds could have hundreds of different versions of the Imperial Creed.

You will have Old God polytheism brushing shoulders with the Promethians, Redemptionists, Ressurectionists, Thorians and many others.

And then you have the variations on the Religio Mechanicus.

The Chapter Masters job will be at least in part to get them to behave together and keep a lid on the disputes. Everything is just one extremist away from going full Jihad/Crusade.

On the positive side no one group is ever going to be big enough to gain majority power.

Bonus points if sisters of one of the medical Sororitas orders help in the Apothecarium.

Only between real space ventures.

They have no Navigator. They just switch on the warp drive and gellar fields and let the warp take them.

They go where they are needed, where the Old Gods, Fate and the Emperor will it, not where they want.

They can spend years in real space. But when the choir deal a hand of the Emperor's cards and say its time to go it's time to go. Buckle up and prepare for the long haul because we aren't coming out of the sea of dreams till the cards come right.

When in real space many do jump ship. But also, oddly enough, quite a few new faces appear.

40% of the Hulk is inhabited. That's 35 million as a standing population or there abouts. 20% of the Hulk is uninhabited but cleansed and checked by the chapter and deemed habitable. 40% is unexplored. Don't go beyond the black and yellow tape.

>Don't go beyond the black and yellow tape.
Or the makeshift barricades, or the pulsing twisted masses of organs.
