Your name is Jackā€¦ wait I'm getting ahead of myself.

This is more of a character creation game/test for interest, but if there is enough interest I'll try running the whole quest.

It's the year 20XX and network technology has been integrated into all aspects of life. In a small, relatively isolated town a massive automated farm provides almost 30% of Netopia's produce. The farm requires only a small team of engineers, an assortment of laborers for repairs, and a botanist to maintain. The botanist and her husband, the head engineer are the only people in town with a child, and growing up with no other children around had him mature a bit fast and he's been described as lacking social skills.

He has a custom Net Navi, which we'll be making now
(Also feel free to just discuss Battle Network General)

Vote for two of the following elements, or only one if you think we should specialize.
>Fire
>Aqua
>Wood
>Elec
>Sword
>Cursor
>Wind
>Break
>None (can't be combined with others)

Remember your elemental weaknesses

Fire<Aqua<Elec<Wood<Fire
Sword<Break<Cursor<Wind<Sword

The first combination to five votes will be chosen, or if nothing has won after 20 minutes the first to 3
>>
>>44556276
Sword
>>
>>44556276
>Fire
>Sword
>>
>>44556276
>None
Specialization is good, but in this case it leaves a distinct weak spot and one bonus. We can use chips for elements.

Also, HELL YES! I love Battle Network.
>>
Sword and fire.
>>
Rolled 2, 5 = 7 (2d9)

>>44556276
If a 9 is rolled, consider it single element
>>
>>44556276
Fuck yeah MMBN

>Cursor
>Aqua
>>
Fire Sword is the only thing with more than one vote, but there's still time for any stragglers to vote
>>
>>44556357
>>44556383
Yeah i see your point
im changing mine to None
>>
>>44556484

>>44556400 Here, just changing to Fire/Sword so we can move on
>>
>>44556276
>None
>>
>>44556368
>>44556388
>>44556500
Fire Sword 3

>>44556383
>>44556496
>>44556519
None 3

Since this is meant to be fun/test my character generating idea, lets just make two Navis then.

Navi1 - Fire/Sword

Navi2 - None
>>
>>44556484
Wanted Break, but voting Fire/Sword and see how this goes.
>>
>>44556566
Alright, now we vote for your build and how they balance Speed, Power, and Defense

Speed will effect both movement and attack speed as well as dodging

Power effects damage done with both melee and ranged attacks

Defense effects health and blocking

Choose one of the following combinations

>Balanced
>Fast (High Speed)
>Tough (High Defense)
>Powerful (High Power)
>Swift (High Speed & Power, Low Defense)
>Defensive (High Speed & Defense, Low Power)
>Strong (High Power & Defense, Low Speed)

Same as before, the first combination to five votes will be chosen, or if nothing has won after 20 minutes the first to 3.

Specify if your voting for Navi 1 or 2
>>
>>44556566
>>44556572
Nevermind, 2 Navis sounds cool.

Btw, would choosing 2 elements like Aqua and Wood simply neutralize our weaknesses but still keep the elemntal attacks?
>>
>>44556601
Swift for Navi 1
Balanced for Navi 2
>>
>>44556601
1
>Defensive

2

>>44556601
>Navi 1
>Strong
Gunning for ForgeMan

>Navi 2
>Balanced
>>
>>44556601
Navi1 - Swift
Navi2 - Defensive/Strong

Obviously our guy with no weaknesses is our tank
>>
>>44556633
This

Swift - 1
Balanced - 2 Jack of all trades best
>>
>>44556601
1-strong
1-balanced
>>
>>44556617
You would get two weaknesses (Elec and Fire in that case) and have two elemental attacks
>>
>>44556601
>>Defensive (High Speed & Defense, Low Power)
>>
>>44556601
>Swift (High Speed & Power, Low Defense)
Navi 2
>Tough
Navi 1
>>
>>44556676
Oh, I see. So we don't get resistances, only weaknesses in defense and advantages in offense.
>>
>>44556601
1 Strong

2 Defensive
>>
>>44556601
Navi 1
>Swift
>>
>>44556256
>only people in town with a child, and growing up with no other children around
So if you do run this quest, does that mean /ss/?

>>44556633
>>44556666
>>44556669
>>44556708
>>44556757
Navi 1 is Swift

Navi 2 has four votes for balanced, which will win in 5 minutes unless there's a sudden shift in voting
>>
>>44556849
One of those votes is Swift for Navi 2
>>
>>44556823
I was going for the antisocial kid moving into a new town and having to learn to deal with people his own age.
I intend to try and stay out of magical realms if I can
>>
>>44556886
Your right, that person voted weird. Swift is still winning for Navi 1 though
>>
Times up, here's the results

Navi1 - Fire/Sword Swift

Navi2 - None Balanced

I see where we're going here.
>>
>>44556949
Now that we have some idea of how your Navi fights, lets give them a personality. Their personality will influence both how they behave and how they respond to their controller. The more their personalities match, the more synchronized their souls will become, but the more they conflict, the better the Navi can handle themselves alone.

Vote for one or two of the following personality traits. Traits that conflict with one another are listed together and can't both be chosen. If you decide to write in, try not to conflict with another one you vote for.
>Kind
>Cruel

>Loyal
>Treacherous

>Humble
>Boastful

>Generous
>Greedy

>Hard-Working
>Lazy

>Honest
>Deceitful

>Write in

The two with the most votes will be chosen. In case of ties, up to four of the most popular options will be chosen.

Again, specify which Navi your voting for,
>>
Rolled 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2 = 20 (12d2)

Navi 1 - Boastful, Loyal

Navi 2 - Honest, Lazy

Dragon Man sounds pretty rad.

But Navi 2 having "none" and "balanced" is super vague, it could be something simple like Punch Man or something weirdly specific like Zipper Man.

I cast my vote for Zipper Man.
>>
The votes seem pretty obvious
Dragonman - Fire/Sword, Swift, Boastful & Honest

Harvest - None, Balanced, Kind & Hardworking

So now some more specific questions.

I picture Dragonman as either a red moderately sized serpentine dragon that fights with flaming breath and claws, or a a knight with a red dragon motif that uses a flaming sword.

Harvestman I'm a little stumped on. A rather simple looking Navi with a straw hat is what comes to mind, perhaps even wearing suspenders.
>>
>>44557513
Dragonman can just be a dragonkin-type with dragonlike features on a humanoid frame.

Strawhat is mandatory. Strand of wheat in "teeth" is optional.
>>
>>44557513
Dragonman is a Dragon themed Samuri that uses a fllaming sword.
I like the farmer look for harvestman with a pitchfork as the primary weapon.
>>
>>44557513
Harvestman should be modeled after a combine
>>
>>44557560
Seconding
>>
>>44557560
voting this
with>>44557543
added to harvest man
>>
>>44557513
For dragonman I'd been picturing a half human/dragon knight as opposed to just one half or the other.

As for harvestman how about an animal motif like a cow? Maybe he could fight with tools?
>>
>>44557560
Not even a pitchfork. Harvestman can just punch the crap out of people.
>>
>>44557573
As long as he still has a straw hat
>>
>>44557513
Should Harvest keep a scythe around? It'd be a constant gag of people thinking he's a grim reaper analogue, when he's all about nurturing and growth.
>>
>>44557590
Strawhat and a suspenders color scheme.
>>
>>44557573
I do kind of like this idea for giving a more robotic kind of look, I prefer navis that way
>>
>>44557600
I think Harvestman should be an intentionally subdued character, just so people constantly misrepresent him and think he's some dumb hick with no real skills or prowess. He has to be the low-key counterpart to the more garish Dragonman.

Then he throws a comical spinning windmill punch and sends the enemy virus flying down the "street."
>>
>>44557624
Supporting
>>
>>44557600
>the kind and hardworking Harvestman keeps being compared to death, no matter how hard he tries to put others at ease.

>Meanwhile Dragonman, a warrior through and through, keeps getting treated like a second stringer leading him to boast a lot about his own skill, but his honesty keeps him from completely denying his friends competence, or Harvestman's desire to not have others wary of him..
>>
>>44557652
"I ain't no darn grim reaper, ya idjit! Just cuz a farmer uses a scythe don't mean he's no taker o' souls or nothin' like that. Jeez!"
>>
I think I like a mix of a few ideas for Dragonman. Like a half human/dragon samurai with a flaming sword.

Harvestman's got the straw hat, suspenders, wheat in his mouth, and a tool belt with a couple of farming tools. I like the idea of him preferring a scythe as his go to weapon, since it's technically a tool,
>>
>>44557688
I'm partial to Harvestman being a bit of a brawler on top of that. If farmers are any good at anything, it's wrasslin' and boxin'.
>>
>>44557688
Can his head and mouth look like a combine at least? Navis that just look like humans are so lame
>>
>>44557718
This is what a humanoid NPC Navi looks like. Just stick a strawhat and suspenders on that, or sumfin.
>>
>>44557682
Then Dragonman buts in and says "He really could kick your ass though."
>>
>>44557718
im thinking a mostly human face with scales on has neck and sides of his face as well as dragon like ears, eyes, and teeth
>>
>>44557718
Sure, a combine mouth would be very fitting. And while I agree about non human Navis being cooler, protagonists are typically of similar design.

>>44557706
I'm with you on that too.

So here's a question, which one is our hero's Navi?

Did young Jack create Dragonman to be the hero that protects his families farm? Or did he get Harvestman so he could work the farm with his dad?
>>
>>44557768
I think anon was talking about Harvestman
>>
>>44557780
I'm personally in favor of Dragonman (mostly because I have a hard-on for samurai) but Harvestman fits our MCs background better to be honest.
>>
>>44557780
I think Harvestman would make for the hero, just because he would constantly look out of place. Dragonman would be his best friend, somehow.

>I will not have my plans stifled by some...some--some REDNECK!
>Yeah? Well, this "redneck" is about to kick your butt into two servers over! C'mon! Let's wrassle!
>>
>>44557780
>Harvestman
>>
>>44557780
I agree with this anon >>44557798

Harvestman is just too fitting
>>
>>44557782
oh...well regardless
>>
>>44557780
>So here's a question
Here's one for you: what are you going to do about new people who want to archivebinge and see this?
>>
>>44557821
Harvestman is the unassuming hero who is forced into saving the day. Eventually, he started getting good at it. If anyone asks if he's the protector of his network, his first answer will be no.
>>
>>44557780
Clearly Dragonman has to die a heroic death against unbeatable odds in order to inspire Harvestman to take up the fight.
>>
To help a bit with discussion, here's the gist of how the story will start.

Jack and his father were debugging one of the farms automated systems, when a unprecedented amount of viruses appeared and attacked the harvesting equipment. After his father's Navi and Harvestman were overwhelmed, the two had to flee before the machines were destroyed. Then either something blows up or falls and his father gives his life to save him.

After that, with their farm in ruin, Jack and his mother have to move into the city for work. Jack becomes the new kid (probably making friends with Dragonman's operator) and the unexpected hero against the looming shadow of evil.
>>
>>44557903
>Lost his dad
That might be a bit much.
>>
>>44557921
True, maybe just the farm then. I did just think of most of the plot like 2 days ago.
>>
Well, i've archived this thread on suptg. It's late where I am so I'm hitting the hay.

Feel free to just discuss Battle Network here if you want. If the threads still around tomorrow, I'll probably post some more about the quest proper and maybe make another Navi with the daytime people.

Gnight.
