The interior of the cathedral is a mish-mash of architectural styles. Some of it looks gothic, some of it looks Middle Eastern, some of it looks Chinese or Japanese in origin. Large stained glass windows of frightening and jagged shards of clashing glass adorn the walls, and nothing is symmetrical or in any kind of discernable order. They appear to be in the upper reaches, in some kind of dining hall, due to the tables of varying length with large plates of food. Some plates are empty, some are half-eaten, some look pristine and untouched while others rot openly.

“Yuck,” Cassie says, looking at one platter, which appears to be the head of some kind of deer or stag. Alongside it is a teacup full of jello and a steak knife.

“You said it,” Otiak replies. He looks down at the floor. It alternates between the material it is composed of, with parts of it being wood, stone and metal, with no two similar things alongside each other.

“I don’t know what I was expecting, honestly,” she says. “I mean, it definitely does seem like a church of chaos, alright.”

“The guys in Orderrealm would probably have a heart attack if they saw all of this,” Otiak mutters, amused at the notion.

The two of them begin to hear a chanting, many voices joined in one, strange choir, slowly growing in intensity. Cassie takes out her pistol and nods in the direction it appears to be coming from, which is a nearby balcony that overlooks what appears to be the building’s main hall.

They both crouch and move towards it.

Both Cassie and Otiak peer down from the balcony at the congregation and get their first look at Chaosrealmers. They appear human, but are mangled in a number of ways, each of them different but none any less painful. Some have exposed musculature, while others adorn themselves in piercings of an extreme nature; chains through ribs, eyelids peeled back and skulls split.

They are all chanting as the one in front--a priest, apparently--leads them in the song. It is not a pretty noise, and Otiak could almost swear that none of them are even singing the same song at all. It is more akin to air trapped inside a wet entrail thrown against a wall than actual song.

The chaosrealmers chant and revel. The priest, himself with half of his face missing, holds aloft a pair of spiked daggers. He speaks, in an actual language this time, that the time for sacrifice has come and calls for it to be brought out.

"Sacrifice?" Cassie says. "That doesn't sound good."

"Yeah, but I'd like to see where this is going," Otiak whispers back to her.

They both watch as several goats are marched into the room. 'Just goats? That's not so bad,' Otiak thinks to himself. But then he notices that the goats are the ones actually pulling in the sacrifice, who is a woman in a cage. 'Right, sure, that makes sense,' he thinks as he rolls his eyes.

They take the woman out of the cage as she kicks and screams. She doesn't appear to be from Chaosrealm, since she doesn't have any disfiguration and isn't dressed like she belongs in a seventies German BDSM club. They start to drag her over to the altar as the goats all let out a grunt and the rest of the chaosrealmers continue to chant.

"We're gonna do something, right?" Cassie asks.

She nods and gets ready. "And then, what's plan B, exactly? I mean, where do we go from there once we grab her?"

Otiak's grip on the vorpal sword tightens as he takes a steadying breath. "Alright. Look for any staircase heading down. We'll try and find a dungeon or a basement, maybe a chokepoint and funnel the cultists in where we can deal with them."

"Ready?" she asks.

"Ready!"

Otiak pops up and prepares to use the EX Fog of Confusion!

Otiak casts his spell, but at that moment, he learns a valuable lesson: Chaosrealmers follow different rules, and his intended effect on them ends up being the exact opposite. As Cassie leaps over the edge of the balcony to grab the woman, she finds herself faced not with a group of confused cultists, but rather a group of hyper-aware and agitated ones! They draw weapons, from daggers to chains to maces and prepare to attack her!

The woman, dragged to the altar, is being secured in place. The head priest continues chanting, though at a much faster rate so as to get through the ritual as soon as possible and kill her.

As Cassie starts unloading her pistol into the crowd, Otiak cloaks himself and jumps down, heading towards the head priest! He holds up the knife as he speeds through the incancation, but before he can plunge the weapon into the sacrifice, the saurian tackles him off his raised platform and onto a pile of old bones--previous sacrifices, perhaps--and starts pummelling him. Two cultists rush up and pull the sorcerer off of the priest, but he grabs them and conks their heads together, causing them to let go.

Otiak leaps back up to his feet as the priest points the dagger at him. "Your blood will fuel our lord! FOR CHAOS!"

Before Otiak can figure out how he is able to speak without lips, he charges in, swinging the dagger madly and screaming a rambling series of prayers to his entropic god.

Otiak hoists up the vorpal sword and blocks the strike of the dagger, managing to deflect it aside! He then swings hard at the chaosrealmer's shoulder, hitting him with the intent to cut it off, but the sword instead acts as a club and cuts through nothing at all, bouncing off the shoulder as though it were completely blunt.

Right... Necks only.

Otiak then decides instead to open his mouth and spit out a globule of acid at the man's hand, caussing the flesh to bubble and the dagger to drop.

He falls to his knees, cradling his hurt flesh, as he looks up with white eyes. "Thank you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! MORE, PLEASE!"

Otiak is taken aback by the utter sincerity of his voice.

As the priest gets back up, Otiak kicks out his knees before planting a serpent stike right in his face, bloodying it and causing him to fall back and hit the floor hard, knocking him unconscious.

Otiak turns around and sees Cassie finishing off the last of the cult warriors with a headshot. Another one sneaks up behind her, but she performs a Johnny Cage-style backflip kick, leaving a green trail of shadow energy behind her, knocking the man away and into a nearby pit built into the heart of the room.

Two more chaosrealmers charge her, but she meets them with a shadow kick that surges forward, much like her father's, knocking both of them down. Otiak runs over and helps subdue the remainder with a few punches and kicks.

Cassie pants a bit before holding up her hand for a high-five. "Not exactly according to plan, but I'm not complaining," she says with a smile.

"NOOOO! NOOOOOO!" a scream from behind draws their eyes. The woman on the altar is struggling. "NOO! THIS ISN'T HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD! I'M MEANT TO DIE! NOOOOOO!"

Cassie shoots an odd look at Otiak, who does the same to her.

Otiak breaks the chains that bind her with a combination of spit and his claws, but she refuses to get down from the altar, screaming all along that she is meant to be sacrificed, even asking them to pick up the knife themselves and finish the job.

"She's looney," Cassie says, watching as the victim writhes on the altar and screams.

"I wonder if she's under some kind of mind control to want to die," Otiak muses. "I'm not going to kill you, lady!"

"THEN WAKE UP THE PRIEST! HAVE HIM DO IT! KILL ME! KILLMEKILLMEKILLMEKILL--"

And so forth and so on. Otiak starts getting a rather nasty headache.

Otiak shakes her shoulders a bit. "Silence! Why do you HAVE do die?"

"Because I must, I must! Chaos demands it!"

Otiak rolls his eyes and tries a new idea. "Chaos demands nothing! That's not chaos. Us appearing and wrecking all of the cultists, that is chaos! Accept that we are here to stop this and that the plan has changed!"

Her eyes soften and she calms down. "I never thought about it like that..."

As Otiak is about to smile and say something else, she then cries out, "THEN YOU ARE THE ONES MEANT TO KILL ME AFTER ALL! CHAOS BROUGHT YOU HERE TO KILL ME, I SEE IT NOW! HURRY!"

Otiak sighs. "The hell are you even being sacrificed for, anyway?"

The woman is too busy screaming to answer. The priest, however, turns his head to look at them, despite the fact that this means his head turns almost completely around, not unlike an owl's. "She's the afternoon sacrifice. We kill one before lunch."

Otiak looks at him. "Every day?"

"No, that would be orderly! Only when we have lunch. You should see what we do for breakfast! Hahahahah!"

Otiak has had enough of these two. He stomps over to the priest and picks him up by the shoulders. "Havik. Tell me where he is gone to."

"Our master is out at the moment, but I am prepared to take a message."

"You'll take a lot more than that if you don't start talking," Cassie replies.

He laughs as he opens his mouth to emmit a stream of gibberish. "!woc mlaerthraE uoy ,tsrow ruoy oD !enog sah kivaH drol ym erehw uoy llet t'ndluow I ,dluoc uoy fi neve dna ,gniyas ma I taht drow a dnatsrednu tonnac uoY"

Otiak finds himself at a loss for words and actions. These chaosrealmers are positively impossible to work with. But then again, perhaps a conventional approach is the least likely to succeed with them...

This all seems rather orderly. A sacrifice before lunch, some unspecified act before breakfast. A lord with a clear hierarchy. How is it chaos to be a puppet dancing on a string. Chaos would be telling us where Havoc is o we can bring chaos to the order that he is bringing.

"This is going nowehre fast," Otiak mutters. "Cassie, cap him."

She nods and fires once, killing the priest. Or so they both thought. He pops back up, wielding the dagger in his other hand, preparing to attack! Cassie shoots him again, and again, and a few more times for good measure. Then, Otiak uses his sword to decapitate his head before kicking it away.

Otiak sits down and sighs while Cassie knocks out the sacrifice. "Well, we learned nothing from them," Otiak says.

"Makes sense. They're crazy."

He looks around the church. "This whole place doesn't really make any sense. A church implies order, a heirarchy, and all of this structure seems the opposite of what chaos would be."

Cassie places a hand on his shoulder. "I think the more we try and figure out the reason they are the way they are, the more they'll confuse us."

"Good point. Well, let's try and find where Havik went, shall we?"

Nearby, the several goats all bellow, looking at them with orange eyes.

Otiak and Cassie approach the main entrance of the church and push it open, discovering that the cathedral itself is situated on a large chunk of rock floating through the green and yellow sky of chaosrealm. The grounds of the church appear to be some kind of cemetary, though the graves are all shallow and unmarked, save for the occasional unknown symbol here and there.

Otiak hears the sound of a shovel striking the earth and looks over at an old man digging a fresh grave. Alongside him is a cart full of corpses of different creatures and humanoid species. The man grumbles to himself as he digs the grave.

On the other side of the graveyard there appears to be some kind of garden, though one that looks exceptionally overgrown and rife with dangerous-looking flora.

Otiak approaches the grave digger while Cassie keeps a lookout. "Excuse me," he begins before the man looks up and holds his shovel like a weapon.

"EH? What do you want, eh?! I'm busy! I'm working!"

"I'm sorry, I'm just wondering if you're with the church."

"Those lousy good-for-nothings? Are you with them? Trying to recruit me again, eh!?"

"No, no! What?"

He puts his shovel down and leans on it. "Buncha lazy, thrill-seekin' good-for-nothin' scoundrels they are! I swear, I'm the only one in all 'o Chaos that actually does any work! They just make other people work for them."

"Is that what you're doing now?"

"Heck no! I bury these here bodies because someone's got to do it. Besides, I was here on this rock before those freaks ever showed up here. They don't bother me, I don't bother them, but I'll be damned if the corpses they throw out of their church will muddy up my lawn!"

Otiak looks beyond the groundskeeper and sees a small shack that he apparently lives in. Inexplicably, it has a mailbox in front of it, though Otiak doubts that Chaosrealm has a postal service.

"Why live here?"

"Low rent." The man then breaks out in hissing laughter, slapping his knee. Otiak begins to think that he has a few screws loose himself.

"Do you know about the one in charge? Havik?"

"Yeah, I know him. Right twisted in the head he is, even for someone who lives in this place."

"What can you tell me about him? Anything useful?"

"Yeah, I got some stuff. He's on a personal crusade to take down the Realm of Order. Most chaosrealmers don't care about anything, but he's a dedicated one. I heard a lot of chanting last night and him screamin' about his plans to head there today. He left."

"He's in Orderrealm? But he must stick out like a sore thumb in a place like that. Trust me, I've been there."

"Well, he's going there to help somebody... I forget his name. He likes to incite riots against the government there. It's all they chant about in that church, keeps a man up all night."

Otiak looks at Cassie. "If Havik is in Seido, trying to topple the government, then that's where we should go." He turns back to the gravedigger. "Do you know a way to get to Seido?"

"Portals. You could find one---" suddenly the man stops speaking. "I gotta get goin'. Pardon."

He picks up his shovel, leaving a half-finished grave and a cartload of corpses behind and huries towards his shack. "Hey!" Otiak calls out after him. "Hey, come back!"

The man gets to his shack, shuts the door and bolts it with a series of locks. Otiak knocks on the door as Cassie walks up. "The hell got into him?" she asks.

"I don't know," Otiak replies, looking back at her. They both hear a loud cry coming from a nearby crow. The shrill caw comes again and they both look at it, sitting on the branch of a dead tree with glowing red eyes. For some reason, it brings with it a strange sense of dread.

"I don't like the look of that bird," Cassie says, gun in hand.

Otiak points at the bird. "Cassie, shoot that thing."

"You don't have to tell me twice," she says, pointing it at the animal. "Never was much one for ravens."

Suddenly, it caws again and speaks! "No, you baffoon, a crow!"

Cassie doesn't let the words distract her and she fires at it once with perfect aim. A cry and a bursting of feathers is all that is left of the crow.

"Well, that was easy," she says. "Let's get out of--"

"You shouldn't've done that!" a voice calls out. They both go back-to-back but see no one. "That was my bird! I liked him! Do you have any idea how long it will take to get a new one?"

Suddenly, the crow appears again on the branch, looking down at them.

"That much! AHHAHAHAAHAHH!"

"Show yourself!" Otiak shouts.

The crow shakes its head and his eyes change color from red to green. "I was going to invite you, but now you've left me little choice!"

The stranger's voice returns. "Mister Rook... Bring them to me!"

The crow then blasts them both with a beam of green light that begins to sap them of their strength, paralyzing them and riddlingtheir heads with confusing, weakening thoughts!

Cassie falls down, dropping her gun, but Otiak struggles to remain standing.

Otiak whips out his tongue, wrapping it around the bird! The crow cries out as he pulls him into his mouth, chomping down on it!

As Cassie looks up, Otiak chews a few times before spitting out a pair of black feathers.

He looks back at her and cocks an eyebrow. "I gotta say, he tasted particularly... fowl."

In spite of the 'Really?' look she gives him, she lets out a laugh. "Seriously, though?"

"ENOUGH!" the voice interrupts them. "I like you, green one! You're half of my two favorite colors! I was going to bring you to me, but I suppose I could be asked to come to you instead..."

A moment later, there is a bright blue flash as a portal opens. A man steps through, with gangly limbs, splotched and wrinkled skin, terrible gums and teeth to match, with wild and bushy eyebrows set over white eyes. A thick, tangled mess of hair and a stringy beard of bright, almost lime green spill from his head and he wears clothing of bright purple consisting of a robe and a wizard's hat.

He points with long, boney fingers. "Behold!"

They both wait for him to continue, but he doesn't. "Behold what?" Cassie asks.

"Behold, it is I, ZAGGOT! I am the Lord of the Rings, the Great and Powerful Oz! I walk the streets of gold and live in the palace made of clouds! You are a big fish... BUT I AM THE OCEAN!"

"You're a looney," Otiak replies.

"I can be a toon now and then, but if you do not believe my power, come forth and test me," he says with a yellow smile.

As Otiak looks upon the man, suddenly the name clicks! Zaggot... Brother of Abacus... the God of Chaos!

"Well met, Chaos God," Otiak says.

"My reputation proceeds me?"

"Your brother told me about you."

Zaggot burts into a fit of laughter. "I am well met indeed! Hahaha!"

Cassie cocks a brow and looks at Otiak. "He's a god? Like Raiden?"

"Similar, but a god of this realm instead," Otiak replies. "What do you want, Zaggot?"

"Chaos, of course! Disorder, lawlessness, madness and lunacy!"

"Sounds like you're doing well for yourself. If you'll excuse us..."

Zaggot teleports in front of them. "Hold it! Did I hear you right? You said you were looking for Havik, yes?"

"If you heard me, there'd be no point in lying." Otiak holds up the sword. "Let me guess: He's your chief cleric and you're not going to let me chop up your number one man, right?"

"Wrong! I want him dead!" Zaggot again cackles, reveling in the looks on thier faces.

"You're the second man today to tell me that," Otiak says.

Zaggot stops laughing. "The second?" He opens one of his eyes impossibly wide. "Who have you been speaking to in my realm?"

"Oh, it isn't! But you must understand, there are so many convuluted plots and double-crossings going on that it is difficult to keep track of them all and who is behind them! Dunwich... Interesting..."

"I thought you and Havik both wanted the same thing. Chaos, right?"

Zaggot crouches and nods, using a boney finger to draw pictures in the mud at his feet. "Oh, of course! But you don't understand chaos like I do. I have been a god of chaos for longer than you can imagine with your narrow mind, so I understand it better than you ever will!"

"Then explain it to me in terms that my 'narrow mind' will understand, Zaggot. I don't have all day."

The god snickers and continues drawing. "Picture it as such: Order and Chaos are opposites. They push and pull against each other, eternally struggling but never succeeding to defeat the other. This is the way of things. But just because they oppose each other does not mean they are not complementary! What would Order be without Chaos to know what it is not? What would Chaos be without Order to contrast it against? It would be nothing!"

He finishes drawing his picture; a yin-yang symbol.

"My brother and I understand that while the denizens of our realms may bicker and fight, they are but mortals, and their concerns are petty, mortal bickerings and fights."

Otiak nods. "So, you and Abacus aren't truly at war, so much as you are in some kind of understanding."

"War? We meet regularly to play games! He never wants to come here; says I keep the place too messy. His home is very stuffy but I induldge him. After all... that's what brothers do." Zaggot smiles a wide, yellow smile.

"Then what does this have to do with Havik?" Cassie asks.

He slaps the muddy picture, destroying the symbol. "Whether he realizes it or not, his actions will lead to the complete annihilation of all! That is not chaos. That isn't even order! It's NOTHING!"

He teleports closer to them, almost face-to-face. "And I rather enjoy my chaos instead of nothingness. I wouldn't even be around to enjoy the nothingness! What is the point of something if you cannot enjoy it? Revel in it? Spread glorious madness in it?"

Otiak hefts his sword upon his shoulder. "I understand it now. You want him stopped because he's going to end up destroying everything you enjoy."

Zaggot shrugs. "I may be a god of chaos, but I am also very, very selfish. It's how I got my job."

Otiak shares a look with Cassie before asking Zaggot, "What can you tell me about Havik's new patron?"

"It does not belong here. It is not a being of chaos, though it may seem to be at first and its methods are ones of madness and ruin, but its true goal is nothing short of evil."

"More evil than chaos?" Cassie asks, bemused.

Zaggot points a finger at her. "Chaos is NOT evil, young lady! It is chaos! Now then... Abacus has informed me of the strange happenings across the realms. He suspected me at first, and while I would normally love to take credit for the chaos it is bringing, the stability of reality itself is weakening. It has Havik in its grasp... He believes he is spreading chaos, without knowing what will come after! A shame. He was such a good cleric..."

"Why didn't you stop him yourself?"

Zaggot grits his teeth. "It has the power to repel gods of all forms, even the Elder Gods. I, and my brother, and all gods cannot go near it."

"Then give me something to help fight him and this thing. Anyting will do."

Zaggot smiles and reaches into his robes, taking out a small box. He opens it. "Behold, a shard of the Chaos Orb."

Within is a small black sphere, no longer than a baseball.

"The Chaos Orb is one of the many artifacts of my realm that I use only when necessary, for though it can spread chaos, wielded improperly it can do much more harm to my plans than good. Take it, and be careful not to drop it."

Otiak gently picks it up. "What does it do?"

"Throw it at anything you desire, and it will be destroyed by the power contained within."

"Anything?"

Zaggot nods. "Anything; it will be torn apart and utterly destroyed by the entropic power of chaos. Even the soul of the person will be rendered forever asunder. Be cautious; you are the first mortal to hold one in countless millennia. I would never give one out if it were not so dire a situation, but the end of all things is important."

Otiak looks upon the sphere of midnight black and feels a trembling sensation in his spine. Could he truly hold such power in the palm of his hand?

"You would trust me with this?"

Zaggot smiles his wide, yellow smile, but says nothing more.

Otiak carefully (CAREFULLY) places the orb into his cloak. "Alright... I need a portal to Orderrealm."

"Simple." Zaggot waves a hand. "I would go with you, but my power diminishes within Seido. I would be no use to you there. The forces of Order are battling the rebels... Seek out Havik and destroy him as fast as you can."

"I will," Otiak says, looking the swirling blue vortex that Zaggot summons.

Otiak looks at Zaggot, leans in and asks, "Can you truly see me?"

Zaggot winks. "Of course! The white in my eyes is just for show."

The saurian blinks a few times, letting the mad god be mad and walks into the portal with Cassie following.

They find themselves once more in Orderrealm, though the place seems strangely absent of people. They look around, trying to find any hint of where anyone could be--order or chaos-native.

"So this is Seido," Cassie says with a whistle. "This place is pretty sharp." She walks to the edge of a road and looks down into the blue void. "Does this just go on forever? And no safety rails?"

Suddenly, there is an explosion! A nearby pyramid goes up in flames as stone flies up into the air. Otiak looks more closely and sees groups of people fighting on the ground and on the roads alongside the pyramid.

"Let's go!" Otiak says and they both take off in that direction.

Cassie and Otiak stay close together as they near the warring groups of rebels and Seidan Guardsmen. They stop a ways back, watching as civilians run away from the carnage in the streets. A man runs by the pair and shouts, "Run! Run from the music! Don't listen to it! Don't listen to it!" He takes off screaming before they can ask what he means.

Cassie shakes her head. "Music? I don't hear any--"

Just then, a beat is picked up by their ears. Rhythmic, pulsing... funky.

The nearby temple opens its doors as a man leaps from it, kicking two seidan guards out of the way as he does. He is wearing baggy orange kung fu pants, a black belt and sunglasses and little else. What he is carrying, however, is even more perplexing---a large boom box blaring the funky music. He lands and starts groving to the beat, shuffling his feet and moving with heat.

Three guards turn to face him and point their polearms at him. "Cease immediately! You are under arrest! There is no music or dancing allowed in the Realm of Order!"

The man sets down the boom box and, in response to their demands, turns up the music. He strikes a pose by kicking with his foot high up the air and pauses to shout back, "Are you ready to get down, you jive turkeys?"

They charge him and he prepares to, in his own words, get down.

Cassie looks at Otiak. "The hell is going on?"

The saurian shakes his head. "I have a feeling that Havik is behind this somehow."

Otiak stops Cassie from getting up. "Hang on. I want to see what happens."

"Alright, if you say so," she says, keeping her gun out and ready.

The guards charge in as the funky fighter leaps overhead, soaring over all three. He lands behind them and sweeps outwards with his leg, spinning so as to trip all three of them. As one picks himself up, he raises a foot. "I said get down!" He brings it down on the guardsman's head, knocking him out. "Ow! Watch yourself!"

Two more guards see him and charge towards him, brandishing large tower shields and longswords. He holds up a finger and waggles it. "Naw, I ain't into that heavy metal scene, ya dig?"

They get on either side of him and prepare to slam their shields into him. "Two on one? You suckas need a lesson in manners, and school's in session!"

They both rush at him, prepared to smash him with their shields. He leaps up and shoots both legs out, kicking their shields. He holds himself up with his legs as they continue to push, but he holds them both at bay. He punches out with both fists. "Right on!"

He loosens his legs and flips backwards as the shields push forward and smash into each other, knocking each other out. He lands and strikes another karate pose. "Looks like it's lights out for you cats! You just don't have the skills to the pay the bills."

Cassie and Otiak both stare unblinking at the display of skill and... well, words fail them.

She looks over at him. "Is this seriously happening?"

"Looks like it," he replies.

The man puts his fists on his hips and pumps out his chest a bit. "Well, my main man happens to be funded by one such man who goes by that name, but I ain't about to sell out my brotha in arms, ya dig? So, if you ain't no friend of mine, you ain't no friend of Havik's!"

"Well, true enough, I'm looking to kill him. But would you believe me if I told you it's for a good cause?"

"I know a little sumthin' about that myself. I'm here fighting the oppression laid upon the innocent people of this land by the brutal totalitarian government by spreading the power of soul through music and funky guerilla warfare. Can you dig it?"

Otiak blinks a few times. "I'm sorry, but are you real?"

"Say what now?"

"Are you a real, actual person? Because you look and sound like you stepped straight out of a movie."

"Man, you look straight out of a whack video game yourself!" He holds up his fists and strikes a pose. "If you want Havik, you're gonna have to go through me, sucka!"

"No, no no!" a voice calls out. A man stomps over. He looks almost exactly like Darrius, only he wears the outfit and armor of a seidan rebel and has a shaved head. They both wear matching shades. "I told you that if you're going to work with me, you cannot take my name!"

The funkier Darrius rolls his eyes. "Pardon me. Call me Big D instead." He flashes a smile and a thumbs up.

Darrius (apparently the real one) points at Otiak. "You! State your business! Are you for or against the seidan government?"

Funky Darrius holds up a hand. "Now hold on! This cat's cool! He understands the struggle!"

Otiak shoots a glance over to Cassie, still in hiding, who can hardly contain her laughter at his earlier attempt at jive talk.

"You don't understand. What's going on here is bigger than all of this. Your rebellion will mean nothing unless I stop Havik. He's just using you to distract Seido while he lays about his plans of destroying all reality!"

Big D takes off his shades. "Brotha, you're speaking some spooky language. You best explain yourself now."

"Don't either of you think it's strange that there's a duplicate of yourself? You're from parallel timelines, alternate realities! It's not just you. Several realities are merging and they are all going to be destroyed from the chaotic mashing of it all!"

Darrius points his gauntlet-razor at Otiak. "I don't believe you. Now stand aside! The rebellion will continue!"

Big D holds up hand. "Yo, check it; Havik went to Earthrealm."

Darrius looks at his counterpart. "You! Why?!"

Big D points a finger back at him. "Listen up! This whole thing is wrong! It's been real fightin' the good fight alongside myself, but it ain't meant to be! It's like Green here is sayin, it's all wrong!"

Otiak looks at him. "Thank you for understanding, uh, yo. Where in Earthrealm?"

"He meantioned somethin' about a Sky Temple... and a Jinsei. Don't know what he was talkin' about."

Otiak's blood runs cold as he hears those words.

"No... It couldn't be..."

Darrius pushes past both of them, intent on leading the rebellion elsewhere. Big D puts a hand on Otiak's shoulder. "Hey, keep it real now, ya hear? I gots to go keep my better half in line. Catch you on the flip."

He then picks up his boombox and runs to catch up with his dimensional twin as Cassie walks up to Otiak. "So, he's headed for the Jinsei Chamber, right? I was listening. Let's corner him in there and beat the snot out of him."

"You don't understand!" Otiak says. "The Jinsei Chamber is where I... I..."

He takes off running towards the building that he remembers leads to the nexus and Cassie runs after him. "You what? What's wrong?!"

Havik is going after him. Not Otiak, but Kaito.

He means to destroy his body!

I just wanna say that I was a little worried for this arc not living up to the previous one, because you know, sequels have the tendency to lack the charm of the original. This fear was unfounded it seems. It feels different, but definitley not lesser.

I agree. I feel like we're nearing the end of it, but so far it hasn't felt like we're running in circles or anything. We missed our guy in Chaosrealm by an hour, he must have just left Orderrealm, and now we know exactly where he's going to be in Earthrealm. Nowhere left for him to hide.

As fun as this part of the journey has been, though, I'm looking forward to getting back into our own body so we can stop trying to act like we're someone else.

Ditto. Being Kato was more fun than being Otiak, no offence to our liard alterego. But finally being free, and not being burdened 100% with the responsibility of ending and preserving the universe.

I just wonder how the ending will go. I know that it's the quest, so it hugely depends how we preform. For example I think the previus arc's finale was spectecular, but it didn't develop fully how i imagined, because Kaito/Raiden failed before it could happen.

Cassie struggles to keep pace with Otiak, who is sprinting as fast as he can towards the Nexus. He realizes that all of Orderrealm looks nearly the same, at least to someone who doesn't live here. He spies two guardsmen and runs up to them. "Hey! I need directions to the Nexus portal!"

They immedaitely draw their polearms and point them at him. "Halt! You are under arrest!"

"What? What the hell for?"

"By order of Captain Hotaru, none may enter the Nexus and all who attempt it must be taken prisoner!"

The other one adds, "And an infraction for improper language and refusal to immediately accept the charge of being under arrest!"

Cassie catches up to him. "What the hell's going on?" she asks as she pants.

The second one points his weapon at her. "Infraction! You are under arrest?"

Before she can respond, Otiak throws up a Fog of Confusion, grabs her hand and keeps running while they are distracted. He looks around and begins to recognize where he is, and where the building containing the Nexus Portal is. However, it has guards at every entrance.

Recalling a similar situation from his time in the Netherrealm, Otiak conjures a large emerald-colored serpent and causes it to rampage past two of the guards. They see it and chase after it, intent on restoring order.

"Come on!" Otiak says to Cassie they both take off running. Once inside the temple, they run up to the blue sphere. "Alright, we just need to--"

Suddenly Otiak is hit in the face with a flaming punch and knocked to the floor. Hotaru reveals himself as Cassie kneels to help the saurian back up to his feet. "You..." Otiak mutters.

"I don't recognize you, but you are not of my realm. I have followed Havik's trail to this portal, and you must be accomplices of him! Seido is now under martial law due to the rebel uprising, and you are under arrest!"

"I don't have time for your ignorance!" Otiak replies. "Lives hang in the balance, and you would rather arrest me than chase after the actual bad guys?"

"It is not my place to determine if you truly are at fault or not. That is the duty of the court and the law! Now submit or be put down!" Hotaru's fists erupt in fire as he prepares to deliver his warped sense of justice.

Suddenly a gunshot rings out and Hotaru falls backwards with a bullet hole in his leg. Otiak looks up at Cassie. "Hot damn, you shot him!"

"Well, you said we were in a hurry!" she replies.

"You won't get away with this! This means prison for life!" Hotaru threatens them as they both jump into the portal.

They find themselves in the Nexus. Otiak looks at the portals. "Alright, which one is for Earthrealm... Hell with it, I'm guessing green!"

He runs towards it and leaps within with Cassie following. On the other side, Otiak discovers that it is indeed Earthrealm, but something is very, very wrong.

The sky overhead is dark and thunderous, with a constant torrent of rain. Lightning strikes several times over in rapid succession and the wind howls and threatens to blow them both over.

"What is going on?" Cassie shouts over the storm.

Otiak shakes his head as he tries to learn where they may be. He looks up at the horizon as lightning strikes again, illuminating a massive tower.

Raiden's sky temple! The portal must not be far from it!

The sky lights up again as more bolts of lightning rain down. Otiak shields his eyes as one strikes nearby, cutting a tree in half and setting it on fire.

'What the hell is going on, Raiden?' Otiak wonders to himself.

Otiak wastes no time and erects an emerald shield to cover them from the terrible elements that rage outside. Cassie and Otiak make their way across the terrain towards Raiden's Sky Temple.

"What do you think is going on?" Cassie asks.

"I don't know. Maybe Raiden is fighting someone," Otiak suggests.

"For this much of a storm, it must be one hell of a battle..."

They make their way down a large valley through a path carved into the stone towards the base of the massive tower. Through shimmering shield, Otiak catches a glimpse of a small community at its base of monks; their homes are on fire and some of them are trapped.

Otiak decides to move past them, but as they do, he shouts at one of the monks, "Hey, you! What's going on?"

"The end times are upon us! The gods are battling and all will be destroyed! Lord Raiden battles himself---there is not meant to be more than one Lord of Thunder and Lightning!"

Cassie looks at Otiak. "The gods? Raiden and Fujin?"

The saurian shakes his head. "Something tells me that they're more than one of each flying around up there."

As they enter the bottommost level of the temple, Otiak briefly wonders what kind of damage a Mortal Kombat war between the gods would do to the planet... Could it destroy everything on it? Is that what this entity planned?

If there are several versions of Raiden, turned against each other, the collateral damage alone would be catastrophic. And as they battled, the Jinsei Chamber would be left unguarded...

But surely Raiden would not let himself be fooled into leaving it open and unprotected? Surely he and the other Raidens would team up for the sake of goodness, wouldn't they? After all, Raiden is immortal and wise.

Otiak blinks a few times as he realizes how doomed Earthrealm is if he doesn't fix all of this.

As they near the Jinsei Chamber, they find a trail of bodies. They wear blue and resemble Sub-Zero.

"The Lin Kuei?" Otiak says as he looks at them. "What are they doing here?"

"Maybe they came to protect the Jinsei?" Cassie suggests.

Otiak turns one over, discovering that he has been completely eviscerated. "Havik has been through here," he says. "This must be his work."

The closer they get to the Jinsei Chamber, the more bodies they find. Not only of the Lin Kuei, but of the White Lotus Society as well.

"What happened here? How are all of these people dead?" Cassie wonders aloud.

Otiak sees one with his eyeballs torn out; the wound looks self-inflicted.

"It's been through here..." he mutters.

They reach the main doors of the Jinsei Chamber, finding them locked and barred. To their horror, Sub-Zero is here, impaled upon the doors with a ninja sword.

Otiak runs up to him and helps him down. "Kuai! What happened?!"

He takes off Sub-Zero's mask and the Lin Kuei warrior spits up blood. "We were... betrayed..."

"By who?"

"We came... to guard the Jinsei... When we realized that Earthrealm was in danger and Raiden would not help..."

Cassie looks at the sword in his wound. "I know this sword," she says. "It belongs to---"

"Scorpion," Sub-Zero finishes her sentence. "He betrayed us... Slaughtered all of us..."

"Scorpion..." Otiak repeats the name. "I thought he was..." He looks up at the doors. "I'm going to make this right, Kuai."

"Who are you?" he asks as Otiak stands up.

"The one who will finish this."

He approaches the doors and spits acid upon the lock. He shouts as he slams his fists against them, forcing them open.

Beyond is a chamber of blue light. The Jinsei, the energy and life force of Earthrealm, swirls beyond.

Two people stand in this room. Scorpion and a man that Otiak can only guess is Havik.

Between them, lying on the ground, is the unconscious body of Kaito.

Havik turns his head to look at the open doors. "The guest of honor has finally arrived." Scorpion says nothing, standing with his remaining sword dripping with blood.

Otiak looks over at Scorpion. "Why, Scorpion? Why did you do it?"

The spectre says nothing.

Havik waves his hand. "Don't mind him. He's a bit out of it. Anyone who glimpses... it... without a mind like mine tends to lose everything."

So he's seen it... Otiak's eyes narrow. "Alright then... no more games, Havik. Where is it?"

He holds out his arms wide. "First, an introduction! You and I haven't properly met, but I know much about you, thanks to our mutual friend. You already know Scorpion and, of course... I'm sure you know Kaito... don't you?" he asks slyly.

Otiak looks down at his body, but then back to Havik. "Where is it?" he asks again.

"It's here," he says, widening his arms to indicate the room. "It's all around us. It's everywhere... and soon, it will be everything, and everything will be nothing."

"Nothing means no more chaos," Otiak points out.

"Oh, but that's where you're wrong," Havik replies. "I understand so much more than you can possibly know... Look around you! The gods are tearing apart their world! Reality is becoming like water; flowing, crashing, surging, pouring! Even here, the Jinsei's pulse is erratic; it's having a heart attack!"

He points at Otiak. "This IS chaos! The end of all things! Armageddon on a scale beyond any that which has ever been known!"

"I think it's tricked you," Otiak says. "I think you're just as much under its spell as everyone else."

Havik laughs, turning his back to the saurian as he approaches the glowing blue miasma of the Jinsei. "None of it really matters, you know. You cannot stop it. Nothing can. In the end, everything will be destroyed in the chaos of Armageddon..."

"This isn't Armageddon," Otiak says, taking out the Chaos Orb shard. "Because I'm ending this."

"I doubt that," Havik snickers. "Because you don't know how!"

"I have to destroy the anchor. The living person that it is attached to. I do that, and it loses its power. I know more than you think!"

"Ah, but you don't know who it is," Havik says with a sly voice. "You don't know because we have covered our tracks! It could be anyone, even someone who is not here! Me, Scorpion, Sub-Zero---EVEN YOU!"

Otiak looks down at the unconscious and soulless body of Kaito.

"Yes, it could be you, couldn't it? You let it in! You are the one responsible for all of this! How does it feel? How does it feel knowing that it is your fault, that the destruction of all that ever was or will be is because of you? I'm jealous, you know... I truly am!"

Otiak holds up the orb and both Havik and Scorpion tense up. He can tell that, had he not taken it out, they likely would have already attacked him.

"You only have one shot..." Havik laughs. "Only one!"

Otiak looks at the cackling chaos mage and the silent, still ninja. He doubts that it could be Kaito... the entity would need a mobile body, wouldn't it?

Or perhaps it was attached to him all along, and they are both serving as distractions...

But what if it is neither of them and the true anchor isn't even here?

They both wait and watch...

Havik laughs. "Fool."

Scorpion vanishes in a burst of flames and Havik lunges forward, his torso spinning like a helicopter as his head stays in place. The undead ninja appears behind the saurian, ready to stab him with his sword as Havik's chopping hands draw near!

Otiak teleports out of the way, letting them both land where he was, before he leaps up, twirls and roundhouse kicks them both into each other. The chaos cleric pushes the yellow ninja off of him and springs to his feet, taking out a large spiked mace from behind his back. He howls as he lunges forward, intending to bring it down upon the saurian's head!

Nearby, Cassie finishes with Sub-Zero, determining that he is not going to recover from his wounds. She runs into the chamber as Scorpion teleports in front of her and attacks. She whips out a baton and blocks his sword as Otiak dodges Havik's wild, random and chaotic strikes.

Otiak gets in close to Havik to avoid the swing of the spiked head of his weapon, using his vorpal blade to deflect it. He ducks low and brings the weapon up with the intent to hit Havik in the groin with the sword, but the chaos warrior uses a drop parry and pins the sword to the floor, twisting his spine and waist in an impossible manner to kick Otiak in the face and laughing about it.

He kicks the vorpal sword away before charging back in!

Otiak takes out the staff given to him by Jade and extends it, using it to block the next attack. He manges to do so, but then Havik once more contorts his form to perform a dropkick in his stomach. The saurian flies back and Cassie has to leap over him to continue fighting Scorpion, who holds her at bay with his sword.

Otiak lands at the foot of a clay jar containing water from the Jinsei.

Otiak attempts to throw the jar at Havik, who dodges! The chaos warrior rolls underneath the hurtled jar, whish smashes against the nearby wall. He charges in again, laughing like a madman, swinging his mace with abandon. Otiak attempts to use his staff to sweep him under and trip him, but the chaos mage lurches forward with inhuman speed, his torso spinning like a wind-up toy once more, only this time while swinging the mace. He smashes it against Otiak's shoulder, drawing a fair amount of green blood and knocking Otiak backwards.

As Havik advances, Otiak recovers and kicks out, using his leg to sweep and trip Havik! As the chaos mage falls, he strikes at the man's face with a python snap, tearing out one of his eyeballs!

Havik hits the ground and howls in pain or pleasure, Otiak can't tell which. He throws the eyeball aside as Havik gets back up. "I don't need eyes to see!" Havik says, reaching up and tearing out the second one. "I have CHAOS!"

"I don't think that's how chaos works," Otiak says as the man laughs before he advances again, swinging his mace. Despite his lack of eyes, he can see just fine; the essence of his chaos magic leaks from his newly-emptied sockets in wafts of purple energy.

Otiak puts his hands together and creates a slow-moving forceball. He slides under the slow projectile and runs up to Havik, grabbing him and throwing him into it! The chaos mage bounces up into the air, thrown by the exploding ball of force, allowing a chance...

But as Havik falls, Otiak misses his swing for the man's neck. The chaos mage falls on the ground and twists until his limbs bend backwards and he holds himself off the ground like a spider. He leaps at Otiak and tackles him to the ground, pinning the saurian to the floor and the sword between them!

Havik comes face-to-face with Otiak.

"You can't win! It will all end soon--everything will be destroyed! A cataclysm of unfounded proportions, an end to all things! And it will all be caused by chaos, and you!"

"I think you need a little off the top!" Otiak says, getting the sword free and attempting to angle it for a good chop.

Otiak swings and Havik breaks his neck to dodge! The chaosrealmer leans up to prepare a punch, but then Otiak spits acid into his face! He opens himself up to attack, and the saurian wastes no time and SWINGS!

Like a hot knife through warm butter, the sword slices cleanly through Havik's neck! The chaosmage opens his mouth to speak as his head falls down onto the floor.

Otiak throws the headless corpse off and stands up, looking at the head.

"You cannot win..." he says. "Too... late..."

"Reveal yourself," Otiak demands of the entity. "REVEAL YOURSELF!"

He stomps on Havik's head, smashing it.

Otiak hears a noise coming from behind. He turns and sees Cassie falling back with a sword stuck in her shoulder. She falls to the ground and crawls back to get some distance from Scorpion, but he does not follow.

Instead he looks at Otiak with white eyes. His form is unnaturally still.

Then, all around him, there is a strange aura--not a shimmering, but almost an absence of light, a transparent mirror of reality, a glimpse at what lies beneath the shell of Scorpion. Eyes, mouths, tendrils of thought and raw eldritch power can be glimpse swimming around him.

"You..." Otiak says. "Makes sense... It would want to be protected. Attach itself to one of the strongest warriors. Havik was a decoy... but your plan's failed. I've beaten Scorpion before."

The thing that was Hanzo Hasashi opens his mouth and what emerges is not a human noise. He holds up his hands and he can glimpse strange shapes moving under the warrior's skin, unknown and alien shapes.

"You're almost ready, aren't you?" Otiak asks as he takes out the orb. "You've been feeding on the chaos of the realities merging and now there's nothing left of Scorpion in you, is there? How long was he truly in control, I wonder? Was it you all along, making peace with Sub-Zero just to get a chance to come here and feed on the Jinsei?"

It does not respond.

"Well, no more talk. I brought you into this reality, and now I'm sending you back!"

He winds up his arm and throws the orb as hard as he can, straight at the spectre. Scorpion holds out his hand and the orb stops midway, hovering, kept in place by the entity's power.

Otiak's eyes widen. "Oh, shit."

The surface of Scorpion's skin ripples as once more he lets out an unknowable sound and propells the orb right towards Otiak.

Another voice reaches his ears with a cry, "Rrryahh!"Cassie tears the sword out of her shoulder and leaps up to her feet, using her shadow power to move faster than a bullet to leap in front of the orb.

Otiak holds out his hand and shouts as she leaps in front of it, allowing it to shatter. Nearly in the blink of an eye a whirlwind of contained power is unleashed upon her, consuming her in bright light.

And then she is gone.

Otiak stands there, dumfounded. Scorpion is just as still; perhaps even the entity is surprised by her sacrifice. Otiak hardly knew her, and she was from a reality altogether completely different from his own, and still she threw herself in the line of fire for him.

Perhaps she believed he would succeed where she could not. Perhaps she believed in him enough to give him the chance he needed.

Slowly, the saurian looks up at the vessel containing the threat to all of reality and he holds up his sword. "Now... Now it's just you and me. No more tricks, no more instant-kills... If you beat me, that's it. You win. But when I kill you, and I will, everything you've done will be erased."

His grip on the sword tightens as Scorpion gets into a fighting stance. His hand slits open and a creature emerges, a snake-like creature with a wide mouth and a sharp beak. It screaches as it is held aloft; Scorpion and the entity are merging into one creature.

"Now it's just you and me... and Mortal Kombat."

Scorpion opens his mouth and Otiak can see a black void beyond. It won't be long until the true form of the entity is reborn into physical form. He needs to destroy Scorpion before that happens.

For all of his friends and loved ones, for the countless billions and billions of lives that the clashing of realities threatens to destroy.

"It's time to finish you!"

Scorpion and Otiak leap forward!

As they charge, Otiak opens his mouth and blasts Scorpion with a torrent of acid! The yellow ninja stops in his tracks as Otiak slides up to him and slams him with an uppercut!

As Scorpion falls, Otiak falls back into his old training style---the Bloody Hands---and he unleashes a devastating combo with bullet-fast punches. Otiak shouts loudly as his fists leave impact marks behind and he smashes the sternum of the undead warrior, cracking it in half and caving his chest in slightly.

Scorpion staggers backwards, weakened, but then throws out his arms and puffs out his chest, causing tendrils to emerge! The oily black shapes change into different forms--mouths, eyes, animals--as Scorpion throws his snake-whip at Otiak.

The saurian attempts to summon an emerald serpent, but the snake wraps around his neck and pulls him in close. Voices and thoughts begin worming into his mind as the Entity attempts to assault Otiak's brain through sheer proximity, but he doesn't let him.

Now that he is up close and personal, he grabs Scorpion by the head and throws him into the ground, getting some distance between the two of them.

All around them, the world shakes. The ceiling begins to crack in two. Otiak looks around as the walls begin to glow erratically. A strange, almost holographic-like shimmer can be seen on almost every surface and he realizes that those are other realities attempting to bleed through. He can see different times and places, some of them wildly different from others---but he shakes his head and focuses.

His opponent is here, in front of him, and he cannot be distracted by what it is attempting to do. As Scorpion picks himself back up, his body convulsing, Otiak charges back in!

Otiak leaps in but Scorpion teleports in front of him, punching him to the ground. The spectre reaches up and tears off his face and mask, revealing a skull crawling with tendrils of black energy. He opens his mouth and unleashes fire from alien worlds that burns Otiak, singing his robes. He attempts to grab a grenade but Scorpion instead kicks it out of his hand and unleashes a pummeling upon Otiak that puts anything he ever dished out to shame.

Scorpion grabs hold of Otiak's head, pushing on it from both sides. The saurian screams in pain as the pressure increases. The spectre opens his mouth again and more fire pours out, searing his scales and cooking his flesh, turning his face black from charring.

In the recesses of Otiak's mind, he tries to find his center and he focuses. He reaches for something---anything---that he can use. One hand still holds the vorpal sword and the other grabs a grenade.

Scorpion finishes unleashing his fiery breath and stands up, leaving a charred and severely beaten Otiak, hanging onto life by just a few threads. The ninja reaches down and tears the vorpal sword out of his grasp and holds it aloft, ready to bring it down upon the saurian.

Otiak looks up at him as he prepares to chop.

Suddenly, Scorpion is blasted by electrcity from behind! The ninja drops the sword and turns around, unleashing another inhuman cry.

Otiak manages to pick up his head to see who it is... and thinks he has finally gone mad, for standing there is Kaito.

"Ryan sent me. Sorry I'm late," he says as several different Raidens walk to stand alongside him, "but I had to remind these guys what they were fighting for."

It's himself... an alternate version of himself, from another reality.

All of them at once then blast the ninja, and with their combined power they set Scorpion's body alight with fire. As the mortal form is rendered asunder, the entity banishes the alternate-universe Raidens, creating portals to get rid of them. Kaito is the last alternate reality warrior, and before the entity can do anything to him, he raises his hands, commanding the water of the Jinsei chamber to wash over Otiak.

Scorpion, his body burnt and nearly destroyed, unleashes a final attack that banishes Kaito back to where he came from.

The entity turns to see Otiak, risen once more, badly burnt but ready to fight. The saurian holds up his hands, silently thanking his counterpart for the support.

He's got one chance left to finish this and he knows it. He charges in for the attack!

Rejuvinated, Otiak places the vorpal sword upon his back and barrels into Scorpion, bloodying his hands as he unleashes the Bloody Fist style once more. Every punch brings him closer and closer to destroying his opponent and he does not relent, not for a single second. He pushes the spectre back as he continues to savagely tear into his chest, drawing black ooze and ichor and causing it to pool on the floor at their feet.

Suddenly, Scorpion's chest explodes from within and a series of tentacles emerges, wrapping around Otiak and holding him backwards. They constrict and begin to crush him as he lifts him upwards, squeezing him. Otiak cries out as he feels the entity choke the life from him...

He reaches behind him as the tentacles attempt to stop him, but he manages to get his grip around the vorpal sword. He pulls it out, holds it high and swings one final time.

The sword connects with Scorpion's neck and severs his head cleanly from his shoulders.

The tentacles retract and the body falls back, causing Otiak to drop to the ground. As he slowly picks himself back up, wondering if that is all, the ninja's body suddenly lurches upwards, convulsing and twisting. It all but bursts from within as the entity emerges in all of its terrifying might, an eldritch mass of bubbling black flesh and matter that has no true state of being. Tendrils, mouths, eyes and all manner of fleshy apendages crawl and claw out of the sides of it, tentacles whirling and whipping about as its voices sing a song of madness in a cacophony of chaos.

The room quakes and the roof of the Jinsei Chamber is torn away to make room for the massive form of the thing, its body writhing and reeling. Otiak cannot see all of it at once for its form is ever expanding, enlarging. One mouth opens and crows with four wings fly out; another one summons angels of darkness and terror.

The entity stares at him with its many eyes, conveying inhuman emotion. The sight would drive anyone mad, and Otiak is no exception, but even in these final moments, he raises his hand at the reality-destroying thing that should not be and flips it off.

It reaches for him but cannot grasp him. In destroying its anchor, he has destroyed the final barrier that prevented the Elder Gods and Chronosis from reaching within. A light brighter than any that Otiak has ever seen appears above the entity and from it emerges a hand, glowing white, looking like a cloud. The screams from its many mouths grow louder as it tries to escape, but the hand grasps it firmly, crushing it between its fingers, as it lifts it upwards. More join it; the hands of the Elder Gods.

All around him, Otiak sees the flow of the many realities the entity has sunk its tentacles into, all pulled into one moment, one point in time. As the entity struggles to hold onto them, they begin to slip away and bleed out of his vision, returning to their place of origin. The hand continues to pull the entity towards the light, forcing it into the massive portal in the sky, and then...

Otiak feels the ground on which he lays crumble and he falls into a black abyss alongside his true body. He reaches out for it and manages to grasp his own hand, holding onto himself as he is swallowed into nothingness.

Otiak awakens with a start. He looks around, finding himself in some kind of endless desert.

Only he isn't Otiak---he looks at his hands and feels his face.

He is Kaito!

He jumps to his feet. "I'm... I'm back... I'm BACK!" He looks around. "Hey, Ryan! Ryan! I'm back---it's done! RYAN!"

But nothing happens. Ryan does not appear, nor does the terrain shift or change.

"Hey! It's over! I won!"

He shouts as hard as he can, but nothing happens.

"The hell is that guy?" he wonders aloud.

As he walks forward, remembering the last time he was in this demiplane. As he walks, he thinks about what has happened.

He succeeded, didn't he? If he hadn't, everything would be nothing, and he wouldn't be here. He looks around, and while it may seem like there is nothing in all directions, the sand and dirt are something, so he takes comfort in that.

He shakes his head as he tries to picture the entity. Maybe his mind is blocking him from reliving it, because everything about it is confusing and conflicting imagery. He remembers shapes, vague outlines...

But nothing else. Maybe it's for the better, he reasons. That thing wasn't even meant to be known by someone like him.

He walks and walks and walks, but nothing happens. For hours it seems as though he wanders. During this time he reflects on all that has happened and wonders what will happen next.

His journey certainly has been a strange one... Everything from Shang Tsung's Island to Outworld's invasion to his time as Otiak...

He looks at his hands. Are these even truly his hands? Is he back in his body? It seems like it, but where is he? Why hasn't Ryan showed up yet?

He stops. "Alright, that's enough. I've had it! SHOW YOURSELF ALREADY!"

His shout lingers for a moment, but nothing follows.

Not immidately, anyway.

The ground suddenly shakes and morphs before him. A great crack in the desert causes sand to pour within as a fissure opens up, creating a massive valley and a trail that leads down into it from his position. Rocks grind and break as they take new form in the distance. As the dirt and sand kicked up disperses, he sees a large rock formation within the valley, looking almost like a fortress of stone with what appears to be an opening at its base.

Kaito walks up to the large stone formation and climps into the circle at its base. He finds himself in a dark tunnel that comes out to light on the other side. He finds himself in a massive field with countless strange graves laid out before him, all of them containing faces that stare at him with cold, stone eyes. In the distance, obscured by dark grey fog is some kind of temple.

The sky above him grows darker as he makes his way through the field.

The wind picks up around him, kicking up dust and sand. He holds up a hand to shield his eyes from the sudden storm as he struggles to cross the field towards the structure.

He feels a hand grab his leg. He turns around in surprise but sees no one. Voices begin to reach his ears as strange figures take shape in the storm.

They start to approach him with arms pointed at him, ready to grasp him.

He turns and starts running towards the temple.
