You are Second Lieutenant CT-42/458, commander of All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer 7330, of the 3rd Grand Republic Army, 5th Armored Corps, 3rd Division, 4th Battalion, 1st Brigade, 5th Regiment, 1st Squadron, 1st company, 2nd platoon.

A day ago, you had left the simulation training grounds of Kamino. Three hours ago you arrived at your post and reported to your immediate superior, leader of 2nd Platoon, Captain CT-14/8899, who introduced himself to you as Captain Doubles. Thirty minutes ago you sat in your first real All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer, it having arrived from Republican Foundries soon after you had. Fifteen minutes ago, the order came for all troopers to form up and file into their assigned transports, after which your still currently unmet crew filed into the All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer as well as two platoons of troopers.

Now, you are descending through the edge of the atmosphere of a planet which you do not know the name of on a mission you know nothing about, in All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer 7330 attached to Low Altitude-Assault Transport 6908, and you cannot help but be at awe while looking up at the massive fleet of gunships behind and above you against the backdrop of space. The battle hardened troops of General Obi-Wan Kenobi's 3rd army fill your vision with such numbers that the Low Altitude-Assault Transports block out the stars. Their hulls gleamed a pristine white with the rays of the system's star, so beautiful that you fail to find the proper words to describe it. You most vivid dreams paled in comparison with this wonder before you.

Pride wells within you. This is what it means to be a grand army, you decide.

All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer 7330 jostles violently beneath you before returning still, shaking you from your reverie as an instinctual panic floods through your body for a moment. You desperately look down to yourself, hands tightly gripping the consoles as you make sure the tank isn't falling apart underneath you.

The tank is together. You aren't falling to your death.

Before you could breath a sigh of relief though, the All Terrain-Tactical Enforcers shakes again, then again, each time causing you to tense up and curl into yourself. The sims in no way prepared you for this. You shut your eyes, and as the occasional turbulence worsened over the course of the next minute to a constant vibration with the intensity to rattle your padded helmet against your skull, all you can think of is the tales the trainee pilots told between sims. Talk of unlucky or desperate pilots ejecting into the atmosphere of a planet and only a heavily charred helmet landing on the planet, winged creatures the size of five times the main platform on Kamino swooping in to pluck away troopers and bringing them back to their nests to feed their children, the list goes on and on, and not even including the hundreds of ways the Seperatists could shoot down your transport, you're going to die here this is how you die youdonotwanttodiesomeoneplEASEHELPYOUJUSTWANTTOGOHOMEYOUCANHEARTHEATMOSPHEREBURNAGAINSTYOURCANOPYWHYDIDYOULOOKEVERYTHINGISONFIRESOMEONEHELPHELPHELPHELPHELP-

-Your helmet's comms beep loudly in your ears. Your eyes shoot open. You are breathing is rapid, it is echoing raspily. You are completely bent over in your seat with your hands gripping the area around your helmet's viewport. You are shaking, but the All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer has stopped the worst of its vibrations.

The comms beep again. Someone is trying to get into contact with you.

You take a couple deep breaths. You are a soldier, and by the force you will act like one. You lower your shaky hands from your viewport and sit back up. As you slowly begin to calm down, the comms beep once more. First, situational awareness, then communications.

Outside of your canopy, at first you see nothing but pitch blackness. Your gut squirms for a moment before you recognize the rivulets of water streaming along the glass. Rain. You are flying through a storm cloud, much like the ones that defined Kamino. At once you are generally at ease, and with only a gently shaking hand you respond to the comms request.

"Second Lieutenant CT-42/458, reporting."

A jolly voice responds. "There you are Lieutenant, I was worried we lost you!" In your shaken state you pause for a moment, unsure of who is speaking. "Alright Lieutenant, once we hit planetside everything is going to go to hell in a bantha farm real quick." Your gut scrunches up on instinct. "Don't worry though, your AT-TE should be fine. Just keep close to Lieutenant Sparks, watch your corners, and by the force, don't try to be a hero!" A joyous laugh gomes from the comms. "Talk to me after we finish our mission, Lieutenant. Until then, make all communications go through Lieutenant Sparks. I won't have time to respond. Captain Doubles, out."

Silence echoes through your helmet. Around you, the storm clouds are dispersing. It looks like you are going to land in the next couple of minutes.

A million thoughts spring about through your mind. You are going into combat already? Why weren't you informed of this? Not only have you never commanded a real AT-TE before, you don't even know the crew.

Breath, CT-42/458, no need to panic, stay professional. You graduated top of your class in the sims, you can do this. Stay professional, treat this as any other sim.

Your comms pings again, to which you immediately respond. "Second Lieutenant CT-42/458, reporting."

"Lieutenant, this is 1st Lieutenant Sparks." A sharp voice begins. "Listen to me, rookie. You stick close to the Thunderbolt VIII, cover my flank, and move fast through the city. If I give you an order, you damned well follow it immediately."

Sparks' voice then turns completely devoid of emotion. "If you make a mistake that puts me or my crew in needless danger, you will regret it. So stick to the mission, and don't comm me except for updates on enemy positions." The connection is then severed.

You are sitting rigid against the back of your seat. You feel it would not be wise to cross him.

Remember, stay professional.

You can see the horizon now. It seems you are landing at night on the planet.

You have time for one more action.

What do you do?

Good soldiers follow procedure, bad soldiers die. Not the most catchy of mantras, but it does what it needs to do.

You open comms with the crew. "This is CT-42/458, sound off and report."

Your driver is the first to respond. "Sergeant Phi, CT-1/21, reporting that all is well." In front of you, you see a yellow glove wave above your consoles. "Engines are at maximum output, fuel levels are full, damage levels are at zero."

"CT-1/36, Sergeant Twitch reporting." The right fore gunner comms in with an exceptionally reedy voice.. "The fore turrets are good, energy levels are fine, ammunition for the mass driver cannon is filled up. We probably won't die in the fight due to not having supplies, sir."

"Twitch, stop that-" Phi tries to interject.

"What? He asked for a report, and-"

"This is CT-1/3390, Corporal Mandalorian Crusader reporting, you may call me Crusader" A deep, booming voice dominates the comms. "Ready to purge the Separatists from Republic space and bring glory to our Mandalorian Heritage. I am proud to be fighting by your side.

Your aft gunners chime in next.

"Private Big, CT-1/5584, reporting." His speech is rather slow, yet exact. "Myself and Private Jackpot, CT-2/777, are prepared to protect us."

By now, you are spotting the tops of buildings. Despite the rather unorthodox greetings of most of the crew, you don't have time to think about it. "Mass Driver gunner, report."

"Uhm," Phi begins uneasily. "Maybe you shouldn't do that Lieute-"

A cheer then blasts itself over the comms. "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"Xtreme, please calm do-" Crusader tries to interject.

"WHY HAVEN'T I DONE THIS BEFORE?"

"Xtreme, blast it all, why are you up in the gunner seat?" Phi in front of you half stands and looks out the canopy behind you. You also crane your head and see a trooper in Mark 1 armor covered in all sorts of yellow X's hanging off the side of the mass driver.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>44268987
His laughter resounds over the comms. To say you are shocked is an understatement.

"X," Phi is angrily swinging his fist. "I swear I will climb out of this seat and drag you back insi-"

"AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA!"

Twitch sighs in between bouts of laughter. "Crazy fool, you know his antics will get us all killed."

You are close to ground level now.

Keep. Professional.

"Everyone, silence. Get into combat positions."

The laughter subsides to snickering before going silent as Phi slumps back down to his seat. No one responds with a yessir.

The pilot of your Low Altitude-Assault Transport comms you as the flight slows to a stop. "Detaching. Good luck out there." You feel more than hear the connectors detach and for a moment you are in freefall before your immense mass lands on the ground. You are in a city square surrounded by buildings, some completely crumbled while others stand untouched. A heavy rain pours around you, making natural visibility difficult. Despite this, you can tell that this section of the city has been long abandoned. Beside you another AT-TE lands, and a combat map hologram appears on your console and pings it as "Thunderbolt VIII." It shows a path for you to follow through the city, sticking to the main fareways near what is designated by the "Business district," which you see generally corresponds with the untouched buildings. At the end of the path, you see friendly positions located in what is designated as the "Hospital," the troops there are marked as "Loyalists: Friendly." Also there are markers of enemy infantry positions around the hospital marked "Nationalists: Enemy." There are no armored markers.

Sparks opens up comms. "Follow me."

"Copy that, sir" Your response was cut off by Sparks. You seeth for a moment before taking another calming breath. Stay. Professional.

It would help if some members of your crew were not nutjobs, but you do not have time to attend to that. Time for combat.

Scanning for both droids and the living, defaults for everything, but everyone is split about Xtreme.
Not making an agreement on a decision will make the member revert to the default option, unless the situation influences it somehow.

If there is a change in vote as shown in the rolling before the final roll, that will count as Xtreme's order.

Follow protocol. "Phi, stick close to the Thunderbolt." The All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer begins to plod after the Thunderbolt "Crusader, Twitch, Jackpot, Big, look out for contacts along the road and in the buildings. You are free to fire. Xtreme, get insi-"

"Contacts, third floor, right side behind us." A voice you do not recognize calls out. Must be Jackpot. Twitch says, "Multiple contacts, they have the entire building occupied to our 10 o clo-" Crusader interjects, "Antitank troops on the 5th floor, the Separatists will pay for their betrayal."

At this point, everything happened at once. All your forward laser cannons turned outwards to the called contacts and both them and the rear right cannon opened fire a swarm of fire, then the street opened up into a hailstorm of blasterfire from every window for 6 or so floors up directed at the Thunderbolt. "Contact terminated." Jackpot comms while your forward cannons began blasting back, during which the mass driver began to rotate.

"Twitch, highest concentration of rocketeers?" Xtreme chimes in, perfectly calm despite the hundreds of blasterbolts flashing around him.

"Follow my shots, you nutjob." "Hearing that from the local paranoid? Classic." You desperately activate scans, searching for all possible contacts You cannot see what they are calling out, yet each blast equates with a call of contact down. Phi keeps the AT-TE at a steady pace as the mass driver finishes rotating and fires.

"Contact down to the rear eliminated."

"Another one for the glory of Mandalore."

"Yeeeehaw!" Xtreme's shot blasts apart the right corner of one of the highrises, causing it to groan and slowly lean precariously.

"Good, X, keep folloWing my shots."

"No problem Twitch."

You sensors are pick out roughly 100 contacts, mostly organics. They all are located in the 4 or so buildings on each side of you in the road ahead. the Thunderbolt ahead of you is under heavy fire, though no antitank shots have yet fired out.
> [Cont]
>>
>>44270238

"Will you please try not to make the building fall on us again Xtreme? It took us hours to crawl out of the last mess you made."

"Ah Phi, don't you worry yourself!"

"All antitank troops on the right taken out for the glory of Mandalore."

"Mando, will you stop with that glory nonsense? You will get us jinxed with your blathering, I know it!" Twitch proclaims, surprisingly distraught.

Your comms ping from Lieutenant Sparks. "Dammit, we've been ambushed! Hurry, focus fire on the rocket troops!"

Twitch comms you. "Rockets are dead, Lieutenant. Not that that means we're safe, of course."

Phi snaps back. "Twitch, I've already told you, enough of that!"

You respond to Sparks. "Already taken care of, get out of the field of fire. It should end a few buildings up."

You forward the targeting data of all the troops you have a read on to all your gunners. Looks like the ones closest to you have already been dealt with, and the ones behind you are already gone.

"Thanks Lieutenant," Twitch responds as the AT-TE begins to properly enter the street of the ambush site, crossing the first buildings. "Xtreme, you see that Garage?"

The Mass driver rotates further up the road and fires, reducing the indicated garage with a large number of people in hiding to rubble.

"What garage?"

"Arrogant showoff." Twitch grumbles.

"Lieutenant, it looks like the enemy are beginning to retreat." Crusader comms. Your sensors indicte as such. "Shall we run them all down like the dogs they are?"

The Thunderbolt is accelerating ahead of you, now almost at the end of the block. Sparks comms, "CT-42/458, I need you with me, now!"

All the buildings before you, once pristine, are now being nearly vaporized before you. The damaged skyscraper gives another audible shearing of metal.

Ok guys, I'm off to bed. Good quest and good night to you all.

"Phi, take us out of here. Everyone else, keep your eyes open. Let them go for now Crusader."

"Yes sir." The pace of the AT-TE slowly accelerates towards the Thunderbolt, but it cannot seem to come close to matching its speed. Perhaps they have upgraded their walker? Are you even allowed to modify Republic equipment? This is something you will have to look into later. Regardless, you pass through the ambush site without incident.

"I will respect your decision, Lieutenant. These scum will fall by my blade the next time we engage, you have my word." Crusader pledges much like how you pledged when taking the oath to serve the Republic.

"Mando," Xtreme says, "A laser cannon is not a sword."

Phi unexpectedly chuckles. "X, don't you remember when Crusader hopped out and charged the Seppie Super Tank all on his lonesome a few campaigns back? And all the while you were inside, whining about how much your leg hurt!"

"Phi, you know a sniper nearly took my leg off!" Xtreme replies, annoyed.

"My point still stands, you are the one who named yourself "Xtreme," emphasized the lack of an E, and painted X's all over yourself."

Crusader comms, "He has a point, X. You were rather not, "Xtreme" in that moment."

"Jerks." Xtreme pouts. Both Phi and Crusader chuckled in response.

By this point you had passed around two blocks with the Thunderbolt about a block and a half away. Checking your combat map, you see that you are only three block away from the Hospital, though it is down nearly half a block to the right of the street you are on. You examine the layout of the intersection and the positions of the friendly and enemy troops in the area-it looks like the map is updating in real time, and a company of Arc troopers have arrived to reinforce the "Loyalists. After you decimated the ambush, confidence makes you puff out our chest in pride. Your first real engagement, and you think you did a fantastic job. Nothing will take you by surprise. Your comms ping. You immediately respond. "Second Lieutenant CT-42/458, reporting."

"This is Major Bandit, leader of the recon company you are carrying." You had completely forgotten you were transporting troops. "What is the situation outside?"

"Major, we had just succeeded in repelling an enemy ambush and are now proceeding to the local hospital to act as reinforcements."

There is a pause from Bandit. "That is all well and good, though I was wondering when you were going to drop us off at a suitable location, Lieutenant."

Stay. Professional. "Uh.. Right, we will drop you-"

"Lieutenant." Twitch whispers over the comms. "I have a bad feeling."

"I am sorry, what Twitch?" You tear your eyes from the combat map and look out into the street. Looks all clear to you.

"I said I have a bad feeling. What reports do you have from your scanners?"

Scanners? Wait. You divert your attention to your sensors. They are picking something up.

"Oh blast it a-"

"ENEMY AAT'S, RIGHT SIDE!"

Xtreme yells over the comms as his turret rotates to face the enemy. You get a good look at your sensors, and before you sits an entire platoon of AAT's. 5 enemy tanks sit with their main guns aimed at your flank.

All AAT's fired as one, looking to bisect you with their shells. Luckily, Xtreme fired first.

His shell penetrated directly into the lead tank's center, at the point where the thick central armor connects with the armor covering the repulsors. In response, the AAT was utterly vaporized, sending out a blastwave far larger than a single AT-TE shell had any right to produce. The intensity of the blast pushed the two closest AAT's against those on the outside, throwing off the aim of most of them. Not all the shots missed though. One shell collided directly with your broadside. The explosion shook your seat and was powerful enough to cause the AT-TE to slide a few feet to your left. At this point, your speeding AT-TE bounded past the intersection.

"What the bloody hell was that!" Major Bandit comms.

"We're still alive, Lieutenant!" Phi interjects.

Sparks pings you. "Dammit rookie, I need your support! I'm in contact with two AAT's up here!" You look over and see that his AT-TE is being blasted by two cannons at once. His Mass Driver seems to be uncrewed. Behind you, the 4 AAT's are not moving, though it is not likely they will stay still for long. Your AT-TE is still bounding at full speed towards the Thunderbolt.

"I'm fine, guys!" Xtreme calls through the comms.

Both Phi and Twitch comm at once. "Not now X!"

Reminder about weaponry:

You have 4 forward facing laser cannons, 2 aft facing ones, and the Mass Driver cannon which will fuck up most of anything's day. Emphasis on most.
The laser cannons are generally considered to be anti infantry or anti light armor, though extended concentrated fire could potentially do some work against mediumly armored foes. And absolutely nothing against heavy armor, though don't worry your little heads about that. Yet.

>>44271993
A little of column A, a little of column B. In the end it is still Star Wars, so things will generally be on the slightly goofier side of things. But things can go very, very We Were Soldiers and beyond if you're not careful.

You inspect the damage readouts on your console. They got a good hit, but they didn't get through the armor. If it wasn't for Xtreme, though, you likely would've been dead in the water.

"Lieutenant Sparks, we were just engaged by 5 enemy AAT's, which are now behind us. One is down, and we are moving to support you."

You switch comms before he can respond. "Phi, get us close. We have to save the Thunderbolt. Twitch, Crusader, X, I want you to show these Separatists what superior firepower means." You receive a perfectly times "Sir yes sir." from the three. "Jackpot, Big, try and keep the others at bay until we can save the Thunderbolt." You receive a moment of comm transmit, sign for affirmative. Your rear gunners are not too talkative, it seems.

Phi pushes the power to much as the AT-TE generators can handle, continuing the momentum after being hit. You have a block to sprint in a 6 legged walking gun platform that is generally never pushed past a slow plod.

"Everyone, hold one. Gunners, Fire everything." And so your crew does. Your AT-TE bounds about as gracefully as a lumbering behemoth, throwing most of the crew's shots wide, but the wild spread of the lasers succeed in hitting the area vaguely around the two AAT's harrassing the Thunderbolt. Sparks moves his AT-TE around the nearby corner as your suppression causes the AAT's to pull back. 30 seconds and half a block away, Xtreme's shot lands directly below the furthest Separatist tank, the blast force being enough to send it into the air. The blast damages the AAT's repulsors on its left side, and when the tank falls back towards the ground the repulsors propel it at about half the speed it was going before.

You point over Phi towards the closer, undamaged AAT. "I want that one dead."

Phi lets out a mad laugh. You can feel it now, the crew and you are hyped on adrenaline and fervor for the Republic.

You were the smartest one in the academy. There's no way you can fail.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>44273388
As your AT-TE gets closer to your prey, you see it try to turn its turret towards you and fire back. Due to your erratic movements, no small feat in a walker as lumbering as yours, its first shot goes wide. It never got a chance to fire twice.

"Wait for it," you tell Phi as you get within 100 meters. 50 meters, you stay focused.

"Lieutenant, you're going to get us killed!" Twitch complains. You tune him out, as long as he keeps firing, you can ignore his prattling in this moment. A part of you hears Xtreme's mad laughter, and you cannot help a vicious grin from filling your features as well.

You will show these rebels what a Grand Army means.

In your adrenaline hazed mind, you made a critical error; you failed to account for the stopping distance required for an AT-TE running at full tilt. It was an easy mistake to make, the simms were never concerned with High Intensity AT-TE Combat like this moment. If it wasn't for Phi, you would've likely caused the death of your pilot and the crippling of your AT-TE, as well as the destruction of all your forward facing laser cannons. The front of the AT-TE is not made for ramming.

Of course, Phi knew exactly what needed to be done. Even while Twitch was screaming in terror, Crusader was roaring in bloodlust, Xtreme laughing his instable laugh, and the distracting silence of Jackpot and Big, Phi performed perfectly. In the final bound before collision, Phi used his absurd momentum to lift the front of the AT-TE above the AAT and allowed the feet of the AT-TE to fly into the Separatist tank. Not only was the force was more than enough to crush the exterior of the AAT into the interior and propel the two 100 meters further down the road, the momentum Phi created made the unholy AT-TE mounted on a crushed AAT rotate towards the road behind them. With all cannons free and directed at the four incoming AAT's, the hijacked repulsors cut out and crashed to the ground.

This was when the Thunderbolt plodded back into the intersection and, with the report of its mass driver, neutralized the crippled AAT.

There are four AAT's sitting before you now as you sit in your command chair, quivering. The half smashed AAT beneath you is providing decent cover against incoming fire.

Superior arms for the crew would be nice for the inevitable time when the legs get blown out of commission. The only thing I worry about with replacing line-of-sight with computers is that we'd want EMP resistance at the same time, so we're not blind if we get shocked.

strapping an heavy turret onto the back section seems doable this ship needs more DAKA anyway and heavy weaponry.

Maybe a second turret at the back and a second hatch too for the back's passengers.
actually an Anti-aircraft turret with 4 high speed laser guns with a lot of heat dispersion would be great back there and most likely prevent us the hassle that would be getting targeted by aircraft while undefended.

The AT-TE basically becomes a glorified turret if the scout head is destroyed, though. Attaching an AT-RT to it might be a better idea.

You have been lucky these last couple minutes, but as the instructors drilled into you time and time again, luck can only take you so far. Unless you are a Jedi, of course, but that was never discussed. Regardless, you were taught to always rely on good tactical thinking and overwhelming fire.

Right now you are at least even on terms of firepower with the Separatists, and in a position to get outflanked without the ability to maneuver. Also, you have a compliment of scout troopers that have been rattling inside of you this whole time. Better rectify that.

"Gunners, focus fire with the Thunderbolt." As you speak the words, all five of your forward cannons fired. While the gunners were doing their duty, you did yours: Commanding.

"Major Bandit, this is your drop off point." You open comms while setting the sensors to scan for infantry. The ambush group seemed to had been a good mix of both droid and biological foes, so you scan for both.

Bandit pings, breathing heavily. "Lieutenant, when we meet again, I'm buying you a drink. Everyone, move out!" With that your four exterior hatches open and out pour a company of shaken, bruised, yet screaming scouts. You see one crawl up on the top of the AT-TE and set up his rocket launcher beside the Mass Driver turret. Soon, one AAT does down under the combined firepower.

The remaining infantry move to occupy the corner shop on your side of the intersection, quickly taking up positions to cover you.

Your scans then complete, revealing about two companies of biological infantry moving up the road parallel to you along a pair of NR-N99s. "Sparks, Bandit, we have enemy contacts moving to flank us along with a pair of NR-N99s. Bandit, I want you to eliminate as many as you can, we will provide fire when we can." "Understood, Lieutenant. We'll take care of the snails for you." Major Bandit responded.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>44274545
The shells blast into and reduce your improvised cover, many succeeding in landing glancing blows alongside your flanks. More scuffs on your paintjob. The AT-TE's respond furiously, destroying another AAT and heavily damaging another.

Three shells at once smash directly into the Thunderbolt's left laser cannons, blasting apart the whole corner of the tank. "Dammit, we're hit!" Sparks cries out over the comms. The heavily damaged AAT limps away behind the remaining two other tanks, which while they are facing the full brunt of two AT-TE's, are still holding the line.

This is when the reinforcements arrived. Due to the angle your AT-TE was sitting at, Jackpot had an angle to fire at the approaching infantry. "Anti Tank Trooper neutralized."

Your scans show no other enemy forces nearby, so you check your combat map to examine the objective. The Hospital seems to have repelled whatever assault was sent their way, and you can see that three AT-TE's were holding the perimeter.

You recognize them as the rest of your platoon.

The Thunderbolt is hit again, this time in the right leg.

"Lieutenant," Phi begins, "I doubt we will be able to stand up against the AAT's and the incoming snails, sir."

Xtreme lands another shot with the Mass driver, only to receive a shell against the forward armor of his turret. The resulting explosion billows out over your canopy. You can see that the AAT that took the hit is hurting bad, barely hovering over the ground, yet it holds.

"Dammit!" Xtreme yells. "They killed Rocketdog!"

The scouts are now in full engagement with the enemy infantry, and the NR-N99's are about to peak around the corner and likely unload their missile payloads.

The AATs are a diminishing threat by this point, as shown by the next mass driver rounds sent out from Xtreme and the Thunderbolt VIII shear its turret clear off.

"Lieutenant Sparks," you comm, "You are too heavily damaged, fall back and provide support to the Scouts. While doing so, inform the Captain of our situation, he is protecting the Hospital with the rest of the platoon. We shouldn't need reinforcements, all we have left are some infantry and NR-N99s to deal with."

You receive no response from Sparks. Switching comms, you order, "Phi, get us off this wreck and start moving towards the incoming infantry. The scouts can stand their own, but they are facing superior numbers. Twitch, Crusader, first focus fire on the incoming droid tanks, then eliminate the infantry." You receive a chorus of "Yessir"s.

"Xtreme-"

He is screaming over the comms. "YOU WILL BURN, SEPARATIST SCUM!" Another mass driver shell fires into the AAT.

"Just, continue what you are doing."

Phi begins to move the AT-TE off the wreckage. Too bad none of the cannons survived, maybe you could find a way to add them to the AT-TE..

CT-42/458, stay focused. Stay professional.

Crusader activates his comms. "Ah, yes X, embrace the call to battle that flows within our Mandalorian blood!"

Twitch scoffs in response. "I swear Mando, if we all embrace our "inner Mandalorian," we would be sprinting through minefields in nothing but our skivvies wields vibroblades. I don't look good in skivvies man. Are you trying to get us killed?"

"Twitch, what do you mean?" Phi chimes in with a coy tone. "I look amazing in skivvies, so if we are truly identical, shouldn't you as well look just as great as I?"

"AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!" Xtreme proclaims precisely. Another mass driver shell fires out, and the AAT begins to wobble.

"Not all of us can be as fruity as you, Phi."

"You just say that because not even a Twi'lek would sleep with you after 13 rounds of drinks!"

Twitch murmurs something over the comms, making Phi burst out laughing.

After a moment has passed, Big's voice rumbles over the comms. "I.. Like fruit." You are not entirely sure how to respond, and no one else does.

You are now successfully off of the flattened AAT and that AT-TE marches towards the incoming infantry. The Thunderbolt still has not moved, instead continuing to exchange blows with the AAT.

"Lieutenant Sparks," you say. "Have you informed the Captain."

"Yes," Was the curt reply. "You didn't listen to me, rookie." His tone sends a shiver down your spine. What is wrong with this trooper?

Before you, the NR-N99s are sitting with their flank to you, unprepared for your advance. Your laser cannons easily tear through the light armor of the droids.

The Thunderbolt then begins to advance towards the remaining AAT, which charges in response. Xtreme tries to land a shot, but it dodges out of the way at the last second. "I will not be bested by a dammed rookie. Blast it all, I will tear you apart for taking away my glory! I was the Captain's favorite, the best of the platoon, and after this engagement you will be showered with all the praise!" His tone at this is both vicious as well as plagued with.. choked sobs? "I won't have his attention anymore, you will steal it! So, I will go down as a hero instead, you fool!"

The AATs next shot slams into the Thunderbolt's mass driver, blasting it off of its housing. It rolls off to the side as the remaining single laser turret on the right side continues to fire futily. "I will always be Doubles' favorite!"

You.. Cannot come up with a response

> [Cont.]
>>
>>44275852
Uhhh. You do that.
>>
>>44275852

Xtreme has stopped his roaring and opens comms with you. He sounds surprisingly sober and serious. "Sir, Lieutenant Sparks is broadcasting on all frequencies. He's obviously off the reservation. If he continues like this, he will likely become a threat to the Republic." The comms now are only filled with wild, grief filled screams. The AAT is approaching the Thunderbolt, obviously timid. They must be hearing the Lieutenant as well. "I have a shot lined up on the AAT, sir." Xtreme states. "But, as you know, shots on a moving platform aimed at a moving target have the tendency to miss."

What is he insinuating? The comms within the AT-TE are suddenly tense. Dozens of enemy soldiers are now being cut down before you as the NR-N99s lie in smoldering piles of broken metal. The scout troopers are rallying and leaping from their positions. The battle is won, and your scanners pick no other enemy contacts at the moment.

The crew seems to be waiting on orders from you.

> Orders?

>>
>>44275885
Would a mass driver be precise enough to only hit and destroy the command compartment, or would hitting it also destroy the driver's seat?
>>
>>44275975
The driver would be caught in the blast. Unless you roll a 10. Do you want to take that chance?
>>
>>44275935
We could just kill the AAT instead if you're going to take Thunderbolt out of commission.
If Thunderbolt survives the fight, Sparks is going to become an embarrassment to the unit and to the entire clone army.

X is suggesting that he kill just Sparks to save everyone the shame.
>>
>>44275885
"Then don't miss."
>>
>>44275885
"Don't miss the AAT, X. There's still a full crew on Thunderbolt, so be careful."
We'll just have to shoot Sparks with a B1 droid's blaster a little bit later.
>>
>>44276004
Shooting out the leg is a viable interpretation of what Xtreme has stated.
>>
>>44276004
We do that and we're liable to have General Kenobi all over our ass.
>>
>>44275885
> Orders?
Respond with a simple 'Fire at will' command, leave the decision to Xtreme.
Plausible deniability and all that.
>>
kill the AAT and ignore the thunderbolt, he may be insane but he's still a brother, and we aren't kin slayers.
>>
>>44276055
Sparks wants to die in battle, and we should respect that.
Sparks taking the rest of his crew with him, though, is something we should stop.

So a B1 blaster shot in the chest. That's what he needs to get.
>>
>>44276065
Making the hard choices is part of why we're the commander. Having Xtreme make the call is a copout
>>
>>44276100
I was referring to the "shoot our own ATTE" thing which I thought you were implying. My mistake.
>>
>>44275885
Blow up the AAT. We can just shoot Sparks with a rifle afterwards and claim the droids did it. He can be remembered as a brave clone who died in battle instead of the attention whoring lunatic he really was.
>>
There are two main threads of thought that I'm picking up. Basically:

> "Fire at will."

and

> "Fire with care."
(Or "Then don't miss," either would work.)

Xtreme will understand the implied order in both.

So, revote, attached to this post please. If there is anything else you want CT-42/458 to add on, feel free to link or add it in your revote.
>>
>>44276162
Bad news, that broadcast was on all frequency, everyone heard it.

> "Fire at will."
Fire on the damn AAT fucking kill the droid scum.
>>
>>44276162
Or we could shoot out the command center of his AT-TE and possibly stop him from trying to kill us.
>>
>>44276227
>Fire with care
>>
>>44276264
>we could shoot out the command center of his AT-TE
That was already asked, and we'd need a perfect nat10 on a d10 to make that shot. Anything less kills Sparks, the driver, and potentially the rest of the crew.
>>
> "Fire at will."
>>
>>44276227
I think you need to be clearer because there are players that STILL don't get what is implied in each order.

Just say "Kill the AAT" and "Kill Sparks" because players can't understand anything more subtle.
>>
>>44276328
Only the driver. probably not the rest of the crew.
>>
>>44276227
> "Fire with care."
The shame that Sparks brought to the unit is bad, but losing the crew and a functional AT-TE would be worse.
>>
>>44276385
backing up this guy
>>
>>44276240
Isn't "Fire at will" the option to shoot Sparks, not the AAT?
>>
>>44276264
His AT-TE isn't a one man show, and he's obviously insane. Even if his crew are thick enough to follow orders to attack us, we can have the captain step in and make them stand down.

It's better to wait until he gets out if we want to kill him. Less collateral damage that way.

>>44276345
Not if we botch the roll. If we get less than a 10 the driver dies, but if we roll low that AT-TE is probably going up in flames.
>>
>>44276227
>>44276344
In clarification: "Fire at will" implies that you are ordering Xtreme to act in some way to allow for the death of Lieutenant Sparks.

"Fire with care" implies that you want Xtreme to take out the AAT, thus saving Sparks from pointlessly dying.

Take your time.
>>
>>44276240
>order "Fire at will"
>says he wants the fire to be on the AAT
I don't think you fully understand the implication of "Fire at will".

[Battle Droid Voice] Republic forces have captured a command post!
>>
1st Lieutenant Sparks. He never told you his designation. He has always treated you with derision, and is now disrespecting the very Republic you are fighting for with his erratic actions. He is needlessly putting fellow Clone lives in danger for his personal vendetta, his lunacy. He is everything a commander should not be, a degenerate failure that ought to be purged before he infects others with his madness.

At the same time, though, you cannot actively condone the execution of a brother, mad or not.

"Xtreme," you respond. "Be sure to fire with care."

The tension you felt in the AT-TE immediately dissapated. "Understood sir."

The mass driver rotates slightly to the right-away from the Thunderbolt-and you feel the loading of a new shell complete. You turn your head to watch the Thunderbolt's mad charge.

The AT-TE is limping towards the AAT, sparks flying out from the legs on the Thunderbolt's right side. Smoke rises from the remains of the left forward laser cannons, and the canopy has been blasted off. The AAT is swerving infront of the AT-TE, taunting it by dodging the lone blasts of the laser cannon. Despicable separatist, not even allowing Sparks to die while fighting.

From here you can see the Lieutenant shakily stand and draw a blaster pistol. With every shot from the laser cannon, he tries to land one as well, all to no avail.

Xtreme fires.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>44277050
Why are the first two Battlefronts so good?
>>
>>44277062
The shell never came close to the Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, the AT-TE fired another laser at the same moment, resulting in the AAT avoiding both shots in one movement. Simultaneously, the commander of the AAT poked his head out of the command hatch. There stands a human, dressed in shredded clothing wielding a B1 blaster. From here, you can practically see the smugness radiate off the Separatist at the AAT draws closer.

The reload time of the Mass driver is almost done. There is no time for it to finish, for the enemy commander is already pointing his blaster at Lieutenant Sparks. You can feel the panic flow through your veins, the rage at the audacity of the rebels, shooting a man when he's critically wounde-

You see two blasterbolts shoot out, one red, the other blue. The red tears through the air into the command center of the AT-TE, while the blue lances out to the Separatist commander.

The reload clicks into place. Xtreme takes the second shot.

The mass driver shell arcs out from your AT-TE and this time hits true.

The instant before the shell connects, you see the Separatist commander crumple.

The AAT bursts into flames, spinning wildly out of control before slamming into the nearby building.

The AT-TE is no longer moving. You enhance your sensors, scanning desperately for the Lieutenant. Smoke is billowing from the command seat. You vision is obscured for an agonizing ten seconds before the wind and rain blows away the smoke.

Inside, you see.

A raised hand from the command seat.

>I think that's a good enough place to end tonight's thread.

So, the thread is now open to QnA.

Monday at around 2, maybe, will be the next thread. You'll finally get a description of your crew! Also, you'll be able to choose the name of your AT-TE if you would like, choose customizations, etc.

That was an incredibly entertaining first thread. I don't normally do much interaction when I catch a quest I'm following live and oftentimes don't vote but I was immediately drawn in to make comments, put forth votes, and interact with the other questers.

A good reason for that is probably the intriguing Orders system you have developed which encourages more thought per vote. Might want to start enforcing the
>During combat, you can only give an order to 2 other crew members at any time. This includes an action for you to take. Talking will be considered an action, so be careful.
part later in so there's even more meaning to choosing which crewmember we direct/what CT-42/458 does.

Sadly I will probably be unable to participate on Monday due to work but I wish you the best of luck on thread #2.

Welcome to the Mid-War period.

>>44277357
Thank you very much for playing! The amount of orders the MC put out actually worked quite well, though I can see what you mean.

There's a reason more orders were being accepted as the thread went on.

The way in which CT-42/458 interacts with other characters will be incredibly important as well as the types of orders he gives. It is all meaningful, believe me. Think of the type of commander this thread made CT-42/458 out to be, in his first real engagement.
