“The Plan” you tell Dev and the others “is that first we find out everything we can about this place.”

“Lorkua” you sat to the old fae “what can you tell me about this facility?”

Lorkua bows his head and then starts talking.

He speaks of armouries, most looted, a few inaccessible by anything other than psychic teleportation – he thinks the most powerful weapons were stored there.

When you ask about the activation chambers he explains what he did, it takes som,e time and you need Kaelyns help to grasp some of the more arcane aspects. By this point Devs eyes have glazed over and Rainya and Lirael have started exploring nearby rooms, thoroughly bored with the discussion. Rainya leaves one of herself with you, seemingly unwilling to let you out of her sight.

“So” you say finally “the last two chambers required so much modification that they 'only' work for beastmen now? And they still have a 90% fatality rate?”
>>
“Just so my lady” says Lorkua gravely “they were supposed to work only with humans and much of their design was beyond even our most skilled technicians. The spell that allows them to affect the beastfolk is the closest we have come. Of those that emerge alive, one-half are insane, and the remainder are usually deformed, or damaged in some way. A tiny handful of stable Primals and Chronos have been created, and each one that we made was quickly taken by the forces of the King.”

“What is he doing with them?” you wonder aloud. Your mind is working through the description he's given you of what he's done. You think you could find a way to corrupt even the two most powerful activation chambers, maybe. Although if you fail, you'll most likely break them irreparably.

“I do not know My Lady” answers Lorkua, even though the question wasn't addressed to him.

You suppose that you'll find that out another day “who do you report to?” you ask Lorkua.

“The Lord Ialos” he responds. You look to Kaelyn, you're not an expert on the fae nobility.

“One of the generals” says Kaelyn “known to be corrupt, lazy and a coward, but a capable administrator, he'll report to a higher-ranking general, who will answer to the General Staff, who answer to the King.”

Ok, so at least its not Kae's father himself.

“What else are you are the fae here?” you ask “I mean, besides making beastmen?”

Lorkua gives a small shrug “going through the facilities records for anything of note” he says “assessing this locations viability as a military base – it still has some manufactories in good order and might even be used to build power armour suits and other weapons.”

“Any spaceships?” you ask him, thinking of what you saw in his mind.
>>
His brow furrows “No” he says “building those is beyond this place” then his eyes go wide in understanding “ah you mean arcane ships, yes, with a little encouragement, we might be able to get the more powerful beastfolk psychics to create Arcane Ships.”

“What are Arcane Ships?” you ask him.

He gives you a rather condescending smile “something like a spaceship” he explains “but alive, made from a living thing, and so much more capable than a clumsy mess of wires and metal.”

That's when Lirael and Rainya come back, both covered in dust.

“A living ship?!” says Lirael “really? can I? I mean, I heard of Arcane Ships but they're rare and we always avoided them because they can sense magic and...” She babbles on about her travels with her parents.

What's next?

>Go home, the leaders obey you, that's enough (exclusive)

In the previous thread Shee was targeted by a spell, that she can choose to learn permanently.

Using Titanic Form does not prevent the use of non-Jagganatha Gifts.

Shee has the option of learning the power permanently, should she choose to.

Six Element Cascade
You assault a single target with six elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Wood and Spirit.
The target takes 1d6 damage from each element per 6 points of Willpower you have. In addition the elements have the following effects.
Fire: Deals 50% extra damage
Water: Slows the target, applying penalties to all d20 rolls for 3 rounds
Air: Lightning deals extra damage to robots, vehicles and cyborgs
Earth: Target has temporary rocky growths from their skin, reducing movement speed
Wood: Target is struck with sickness, preventing fast healing powers from wiorking for 3 rounds and reducing the effect of magical healing
Spirit: Target loses chaios magic points (or similar)

A kind anon with some reserve XP is willing to buy this power and also willing to put the decision in the players hands. I'll leave it open for discussion for a few hours, and if there are no objections, but the power and call for a vote on warping.

The effects of warping would be

Corruption: has a chance of causing elementally-appropriate negative mutations and mutation-like effects. E.g. earth could cause someone to start calcifying, water might make them bleed through their skin profusely, wood would do rebellious 'normal' mutations, including any or all animal-like traits etc.

Family: You can tie an effect of this spell to your family members, granting them moderate resistance to the elements. They can discharge it for a single use very high resistance to an element or to use as a close-range elemental attack.

Impossibility: The six elements are replaced with different ones, each with their own additional effects: eldritch (void); empyreal (angelic); infernal (demonic); entropy (death); order (counters magic); faith (divine)

Why does one say exclusive then if all are exclusive?
That doesn't make a lot of sense.
>>
>>44265414
The option to leave the facility is exclusive with getting anything else done in the facility, all of the rest can be done, but only one at a time since they're all going to have sub-encounters, further votes, can change the overall situation and might open up new options.

Corrupt them all, acquire hundreds of loyal psychic space bugs.

The Legendary psychic power chambers need corrupting. The beastmen it produces are sent directly to work for the king. That is an amazing opportunity.

good point, and my apologies for the error.

Could we tack on something that doesn't require doing right now, like telling Lokura to hold onto any successful chronos/primals for a little bit so we can have some time with them before he sends them off?

54d6 damage before bonus effects is pretty good, gets a lot better if we can weave it into Chaoscraft to make Alter Power applicable to it.

Its okay, nothing amazing just solid, most of the time we would use something else if we really wanted ultra-high damage. And if we want moderate damage we would use the far more efficient Life Drain.

Looks like its talking about living spaceships, writing.
>>
>>44265522
Alright, then. I'd like to vote to do that. Not sure how to have him contact us. Would he be capable of using some sort of sneaky comlink to contact us or someone else who then contacts us? Artifice 5 + corruption+impossibility could probably throw something together that melts if anyone else but him uses it and is harder to trace.

What's the difference between empryeal and faith?
>>
>>44265592
You can have faith in non-angelic things.
>>
>>44265592
empyreal comes from angelic magic, faith from the gods.

The gods can be good or evil, both provide faith-based powers (well, ok, not the Five, because they're different, but other gods do).

In this setting Angels and Demons are not servants of the gods, but rather seperate groups of powerful supernatural creatures.

This is somewhat blurred in-setting because some angels and some demons serve gods, and some angels and demons are worshipped as gods.

But strictly speaking, 3 seperate groups of magical creatures, different powers, and seperate political factions and viewpoints.

Perhaps Liraels enthusiasm is contagious, or maybe a magical spaceship is just that tempting.

“Lorkua” you say to the old Fae “these...Arcane Ships...what are they? How are they made?”

He assumes a lecturing tone “The Arcane Ships, sometimes called Living Ships, are magical constructs that technology can only create clumsy parodies of. They have existed since the the dawn of time, in one form or another. They can fly between the stars, far faster than mortals clunky metal monstrosities, and are much faster and tougher than them as well. Creating one takes a certain about of skill and power, the best ones are of course born of chaos magic, though even psychics and lifeweb mages can make them. Of course a weak mage can only make a small ship – about the size of a fighter craft. Only skilled mages can make what mortals call 'frigates' and only the mightiest can rival true warships in size.”

“Oh” says Rainya, sounding vaguely disappointed “so just 'magic spaceships' then?”

Lorkua shakes his head “Some prefer those” he allows, though his tone is laced with contempt “but true arcane ships are alive, aware, mages in their own right. Some may create small representatives to interact with their crew, or they might not, but either way, they are alive, can reason, and can use magic.”

Lirael pipes up “so how are they made?”

“This takes time” says Lorkua “and a living creature to serve as the core from which a ship grows – sentient beings are most effective, and magically capable ones the best, though with enough care and patience a ship could be grown from even something as simple as a plant, or so I'm told.”

Lirael turns to you “Shee, can we, can I make one? Please?” She holds her hands together as if praying, and looks at you with wide eyes, pleading.

“I don't even know how” you protest.
>>
I just remembered that 8 Impossibility and 8 Corruption is enough to force Legendary acquisition. Hope I remember that 6 months from now.
>>
“But he does” Lirael indicates Lorkua, he nods, adding “normally mages take a year or more to learn how to make one, and it takes much of their power, I expect you would master it in much less time.”

“Maybe later” you tell Lirael firmly “besides, storing one could present a problem.”

Lirael opens her mouth to object, then closes it again, looking thoughtful. You expect you'll face another attempt to persuade you soon.

What do you do next? (pick 1 only)

>Go home, leave the facility
>Take control of the rest of the fae
>Loot the place, take whatever you want
>Go see the Serec in the freezer, maybe they'll be useful

And any other orders for Lorkua?

>>
>>44265530
Because I felt like doing the numbers...

96d6 (16d6 each blast) assuming we don't reduce Int or Fel below 10, because I can't see retard/autist with unlimited power ending well. If we can work it into Chaoscraft, 144d6 after Empowering, Maximized would be 864 damage. Assuming it defaults to the Psychokinesis range limiter (9 metres per +1) since I don't see a range listed but don't think it's a touch power, we could attack from 387 metres in that state, which could be warped into a 38.7 metre radius explosion of all six elements, a 96.75 metre cone or a 193.5 metre line.

Stop automatically sending the Primals and Chronos to the king. Have him contact us and let us "talk" to them first. Some of them will be sent off as sleeper agents still, some of them will be taken with us. What we do with them then is up in the air. Maybe induct them into our clan, maybe have them hang out in the realm until we need some muscle to stomp dudes.

We could, but that'd be boring compared to a void ship.
>>
>>44266057
I don't think we'd make the entirety of him into a ship. We'd probably go work with him to grow a specialized 'core' plant that becomes the ship and is still part of him. It'd be analogous to Randolph's hand or something.

Walk around radiating Corruption as much as we can. If we could make them look more humanlike to blend in that'd be awesome. Just enough that they could get away with wearing heavy coverings like that one guy who died forever ago.

Fake them "awakening" and getting stomped by the beastmen thanks to the vigilance and skilled command of [one of the fae shitters we control]. We get to take an army of psychic bugs and one of our minions gets some brownie points with command.
>>
>>44266144
How about we send them across planes to fuck some demonic kingdom's shit up.
>>
Appears to be a tie between looting, and going to the freezer. Breaking in favour of freezer.

And its a pretty clear request to not send the most powerful beastmen psychics to the King. Though no majority decision on other stuff.

Writing.
>>
“For now” you tell everyone “we need to go and see these Serec, they were captured and held for a reason, maybe they can be useful” Somehow, you think to yourself.

“Do we have to?” complains Dev “those things are creepy.”

“Oh, something you're actually scared of?” Kaelyn says teasingly to Dev.

XXX

On a level even lower than the one you've just left, Lorkua shows you to the vast halls full of row after row of huge glass-like tubes festooned with ancient monitoring equipment. They look a little like the psychic activation chambers.

Each of the tubes is covered in frost, you wipe some away from one of the smaller ones and peer inside. Suspended in the ice within is one of the dog-sized serec you encountered earlier.

Your friends wander around, likewise inspecting the tubes.

“I think this one's dead” says Rainya, tapping at a digital screen.

“This one too” says Kaelyn “or at least, no vital signs.”

You reach out with your telepathic powers and encounter the serec's minds, so slow and dormant you too wonder if they're dead...but no, they're still there.

“I think they're alive” you say “or most of them are, anyway.” You turn to Lorkua “how many are here?”

“I do not know” he admits “we gave up counting after four hundred or so, though the estimate is two to three thousand. Most are the smaller serec warforms, such as swarmlings or the frenzy runners, though we did catalogue at least a dozen of their Warminds and Overseers, and two War Tyrants, though no Brood Queens.”

You wonder exactly what those are, you get the basic idea “so mostly the grunts” you say “with a few of the elites, ok. Why are they here?”

He spreads his hands, palms up “perhaps those who built this place planned to use them against us somehow, though there doesn't seem to be enough of them for that.”

“But there's thousands!” protests Lirael “that's an army.”
>>
“An army that relies on numbers though” counters Dev “to beat them you'd only need hundreds of trained soldiers, fewer if they have armoured vehicles or a defensive position.”

Kaelyn agrees, leaning against a frozen tank “these things take worlds by attacking in the billions” she says “or so my teachers told me, they're drawn to places populated by psychics.”

“Including other Serec?” you ask her quietly

Kaelyn raises an eyebrow at you.

“What if the reason so many where taken” you say, walking down the corridor, inspecting pods “was so that if awakened and unleashed at once, they'd draw other Serec to them? I mean, how do they invade worlds?”

“Huge serec bioships” says Kaelyn “but they often teleport in packs of them as advance troops.” Just like those you encountered yourself...maybe.

“They're dormant now” you say “but if awakened, would they draw other serec to them?”

Everyone exchanges looks, Dev looks disturbed.

“Possibly” says Lorkua.

“But you can stop them doing that, right?” says Rainya.

“Maybe” you say “if I can control them somehow.”

You could simply use your telepathic powers to control them, its the quickest method, but controlling so many could tax even your powers. If they break free they are little threat to you on their own, but if they summon an invading swarm, the whole world could suffer.

You could use your Aspect of Corruption to make them yours, but that could take a long time to affect all of them, days or even weeks. Still, it means they probably won't summon their own kind.

You could petition one of the Five for aid, though they'd ask some sort of price for giving you control of this army.

You could of course just leave them alone too, they've stayed frozen for years, you can come back and get them later.

Are you going to take control of them now?

Hey guys. Chaoscraft has that ridiculous luck boost thing, yeah? How would you guys feel about taking a beastman, psychic surgerying and Corruptioning it until it's totally loyal, and then give it a massive luck buff before we stuff it in one of the Legendary chambers? We could give it around +50 easily. If we get Psyche Shifting as well we can crank the boost even higher. We could probably get the survival rate of our own personal super psychics up to nearly 100%.

I've been looking through the rules and I have two things I want to bring up.
Firstly how would everyone feel about Vi Hyul not having an undead/True Vampire form? Our clan power means we only lose the ability for >5 level in Vi Hyul vampires to come back from the dead (given that their was an effort to keep our clan from becoming to OP when we made it I hope that won't get to many objections) as the + max level in vampire powers thing lets us get up to 20 anyway and the rules for Near-Immortality seem to impliy we don't have a difference between Lining and True vampires anyway.
The second thing is that some vampier powers seem to be lacking the first few ranks. Command starts at 5, Healing at 4 and Sight at 9. Am I just missing soming?

“Ok” you say, cracking your knuckles “this could take a while...”

You start the job of turning these Serec into your minions. You sit down next to the nearest tank and place your hands upon it, the clear ice starting to darken as your corruptive influence spreads through it, towards the sleeping monster...

It only takes a few minutes to turn the weakest Serec to your will, but there are a lot of them. And the stronger ones take even more time.

As you give this task your full attention, your allies busy themselves exploring and watching the facility. You take occasional breaks to teleport them to and from the Hive as needed, and to sleep when even your inhuman physiology can no longer allow you to work, and you must rest.

The serec you corrupt slowly begin to change and warp in their tanks, their armour turning dark, their teeth lengthening, and strange symbols appear on their flesh.

You've been at it about a week, having converted a third of the serec in the tanks when Rainya brings you some disturbing news.

“What?” you say, dragging your focus away from the serec you were converting.

“I said according to Garrax” Rainya says “there's maybe three hundred of the cyborgs in Hive 39 now, and more are arriving every day. Kulrathe is calling it an invasion and preparing his police forces.” Rainya has been talking to them via electronic communications on your behalf, and it seems like a rival Reunited is making a move on the Hive, flooding the low Hive with his soldiers, huh the folk hero of the cyborg miners, you didn't think he'd be the first to attack.

“Do they think they can handle it?” you ask Rainya. You have collected your friends to discuss the issue.

“Garrax says his own forces can't do it alone” responds Rainya “but Kulrathe sounds more confident, but...”

“But if Kulrathe sends his thugs into the low Hive it'll be all-out war” you say bleakly.

“And a lot of innocent people will die” says Dev.

“What's Breaker doing?” Kaelyn asks Rainya.

“Fighting them” she says “though he's apparently told his own gang to keep clear of them for now, but he's going after them on his own, ambushing small groups but not doing enough to stop them.”

“I bet my sister could find the head bad guy and stomp him easily” says Lirael “when do we leave, sis?”

“What's their plan though?” muses Kaelyn “just build up enough numbers to swamp you each, three hundreds sounds kinda excessive.”

You just look at her, an eyebrow raised.

She waves her hands impatiently “yes, I know you could take them” she says “I mean, don't they regard you, Breaker Kulrathe and Garrax as weak or something because none of you own the Hive yet?”

“Maybe he wants enough to take you all out in simultaneous attacks” suggests Dev “or maybe he's just cautious and is over-preparing?”

“Maybe” you say “but this, I dunno, it doesn't feel right, it seems too direct, too obvious, just a massive army of cyborg troops, the fae will counter-attack as soon as he moves openly, won't they?”

Kaelyn nods “absolutely” she says “the Five may want them to not interfere, but they're allowed to if people start breaking the law, and open warfare in the streets definitely qualifies.”

Dev and the others look to you “what do you want to do? Go back, or let Kulrathe take this one?”

“First we make sure everybody knows” you tell Dev and the others “Ms Carter, Yonsul, Mistress Steel. Tell them to call on us the moment they get attacked, also talk to Breaker, get his take on this, its far too suspicious.”

“Right” nods Dev “anything else?”

You think “just watch for now” you say “but be ready to move quickly.”

Within a day your allies acknowledge your warning and reassure you that they're taking precautions. Rainya keeps a few of her bodies spread out around the place to watch and help.

Over the next week Breaker keeps you appraised of the build-up of mining cyborgs and tells you that they've been paying low-hivers who work up-hive for all sorts of information: maps of buildings, police response times, patrol routes, even codes for security doors. Whatever they're planning, its big.

You've taken control of two-thirds of the Serec now, and the first ones you altered are now completely different from the regular serec: their hides are completely black and they are showing physical mutations that remind you of some of the Gifts you have. None of them look exactly the same, though there are obvious themes: additional limbs; plant-like growths; structures that look like gills on some of them; shadows moving around them; even some cybernetic implants.

At the end of the second week, Rainya is sat next to you, reading from a datapad, when suddenly she jerks upright, gasping.

“No!” she yells. You stop what you're doing to the latest Serec, your head snapping around.

“Rainya” you say urgently “what is it?”

“I'm watching the news in the Hive” she says, her eyes unfocused as she looks at something through another pair of eyes “The Governors mansion just exploded.”

“What?” you say, your mind racing “what's happening?”
>>
“There's news crews everyone” Rainya starts talking fast “and reports no images now, mining cyborgs coming out of the elevator shafts, heading towards the mansion. There's someone claiming to be Doc Melakin near the ruins, he's yelling something.”

Your pulse is racing, is this a ploy to draw you and the others out? But why the Hive Governor? Only Kulrathe would be obliged to respond.

“What about the Waystation?” you ask Rainya “everyone else?”

“They're fine” Rainya reassures you “they weren't anyway near that, and I can see Dev, Lirael and Kaelyn – they're fine.”

“What's happening now?” you ask her.

“He's broadcasting to the Hive” Rainya says, her gaze still far away “he's promising an end to fae rule.”

“That's...crazy” you say “open rebellion, what is he thinking?”

“Kulrathe just sent a message” Rainya adds, “looks like it was send to Breaker and Garrax too, it says: I'll handle this one, stay out of it.”

You think fast. Kaelyn is in the facility, following Lorkua around, Dev and Lirael are in the Hive, but nowhere near the Governors mansion. Maybe you can sit this one out.

You can't imagine what Melakin is thinking. You imagined freeing this world of the fae yourself, but after you won thecontest, but taking them on openly, with just mining cyborgs and a popular uprising? They'll crush him.

Then a much colder, more analytical part of you gets it.

“He declares open rebellion” you say, thinking aloud “and then fakes his death, goes into hiding, whatever. In the meantime the King sends his army to suppress the rebellion and locks down the entire Hive. He doesn't need to kill us, he gets the fae to do it for him.”

Rainya looks at you “But that won't work, will it?” she asks “I mean, the fae have to stay out of it, right?”
>>
“Unless someone breaks the law openly” you respond “then they can investigate, hells, killing the Governor means they can go after anyone on a conspiracy charge, right? And all they need is an excuse to go after any of us, either way Melakin benefits.”

“So what do we do?” asks Rainya “oh and Dev and Kaelyn are asking that too” she adds as an afterthought “Lirael asks when we're attacking Melakin...and Jade is-” Rainya frowns.

“What?” you say “Jade what?”

Rainya continues “Jade just sent a message saying that her family are trying to get one of them declared acting governor, but so are a lot of other vampire families.”

>>
>>44268040
I have a plan. Use our realm to fabricate false evidence of Melakin working together with one of the other Reunited from out of hive. Lady Jasuki Helwiath would be the best bet due to her history of treachery and past connections with the rebellion. Use this info to boost the Crimsonthorns to the top of the running for New Governor, they can claim they got it from agents in other hives or something. (This pleases Baalzamon?)
>>
>>44268231
Sounds like a possible post-battle plan.
>>
>>44268231
How do you fabricate this evidence and what nature would it be to actually convince anyone?
>>
Calling it now, Kulrathe set this all up.
>>
>>44268247
Like we did for the vampire serial killer, except we just fabricate the memory outright instead of using Lirael's clairsentience. It'd be pretty easy.
>>
Does Rainya secretly have the Slaughter aspect? Looking back on things she's gone and killed downed enemies a couple times now.
>>
“Tell everyone else to stay clear” you tell Rainya “we're going in with Lirael.” You disappear, appearing in the Waystation next to Lirael and Rainya and the three of you quickly equip yourselves for battle, then you teleport again, heading for the Governors mansion...

XXX

Around the Governors mansion is chaos and confusion. There are people milling around, running in all directions. A huge cloud of dust hangs over everything, visibility is limited to a few metres at best now, even for you. You can hear the deep hum of massive fans as the air recycling system struggles to cope.

You're in one of the richer parts of the Hive, Lirael and Rainya at your side. People are screaming and you can hear the burning sizzle of discharged plasma weapons, sounds like the place to start.

“This way” you say to Lirael and Rainya, they follow, guns at the ready.

With your telepathic abilities you can sense the people around you, and you head to the largest concentration of hostile minds: Doc Melakin or his body double will be there you think.

-Incoming!- You warn Lirael and Rainya as a bulky cyborg looms out of the dust directly ahead of you. Your plasma blast hits him the same time as Liraels, Rainyas is only a second later. Or rather, hits his glowing force shield: splashing harmlessly against the barrier. He's wearing a long cloak and carrying a machinegun.

He laughs, his oversized mechanical jaw making it more of a choking sound, and he rushes forwards, swinging the massive hammer he has in place of his right forearm at you.

You lash out with your tentacles, catching him and lifting him into the air. He thrashes in your grip but is no match for your strength.

“Where's Melakin?!” you yell at him, reaching out with your telepathic powers even as you ask the question.

He clacks his jaw, drops his gun and reaches inside his robe, you read his intentions before he can hit the trigger and you react quickly.
>>
The bomb he was wearing explodes, somewhere out in the desert, after you teleport it to a safe distance. You can see from his thoughts that he and the others are prepared to die today, and that they have orders to trigger the bombs they are carrying if you or any of the other Reunited show up.

As far as this former mining slave knows, Doc Melakin is leading the attack personally, and that they expect reinforcements from an ally – but he doesn't know who or what.

“This is a mess” comments Rainya, trying to peer through the dust “which way to the Doc, Shee?”

“That way” says Lirael, pointing towards the mass of minds ahead, hundreds of them.

All around you is noise: people screaming, weapons-fire, explosions.

What now?

-Forwards- you send to Rainya and Lirael -and telepathy only, just to be safe-

-Right- Rainya responds

The three of you head towards the mass of hostile minds: you can make out a lot of the mining cyborgs surrounding and tearing apart a knot of the governors guards that survived the explosion. And in the midst of the cyborgs...a mind that is closed to you.

You grin, you've got him, this should be easy. You focus your telepathic abilities on the one opaque mind and slam into it hard, using your Aspect of Impossibility to break through whatever protection he has.

Your first attempt hits something as solid as a wall, it feels like his own Aspect of some kind is protecting him. You push harder.

Your force shield activates suddenly as something slams into your shoulder, a bullet coming out of the dust and piercing your shield. You feel a momentary pain and then your hide hardens, becoming tougher than steel, tougher than tank armour as you shrug off the attack.

[PE 122/137]

The antinite round flattens against your flesh and drops to the ground, at the same time your telepathic powers suddenly rebound from your target and backfire on you, trying to rip apart your own mind, but you resist. It seems reading this mind is going to be futile. You did get a brief glimpse into his thoughts, this is definitely Doc Melakin, or someone who thinks he is anyway.

He didn't lie to his troops either, he is expecting reinforcements...but not in the way you suspected.

-Kulrathes not on his side- you send to Rainya and Lirael -Jasuki Helwiath is on her way, and the Doc thinks she can turn a lot of ordinary people into a mob with her in command-

-Uh Shee- Rainya sends back -Are we going to fight ordinary Hive folk? I mean, I don't want to hurt people who are just being controlled.-

-We should fly high- suggests Lirael -Then they're no threat at all-
>>
>>44269296
Fair point, dropped.
>>
-Or we get close to the Doc- you send -A mob will be less of a threat then because we'll have cyborgs between them and us-

You continue forwards, and encounter the first few cyborgs, all of you blasting shot after shot at them until their shields are overwhelmed and they fall. Rainya starts to multiply and you all reload.

You can sense dozens of cyborgs coming your way and you duck as another rifle round zips past your ear, there's a sniper out there.

How are those options telegraphing her position or drawing attention? The fireball causes a big combustion at a point of her designation, it doesn't launch a fireball. Certainly. I usually go with whatever is suggested at thread end about spending XP, unless there is disagreement or multiple options suggested.

If players prefer I can change this to something else: say reposting suggestions at the start of next thread and calling for votes.

And I can roll-back purchase of powers retroactively if needed, in light of this decision.

Please discuss whilst I write the update.

We used to just have AA confirm it if something had no objections, that choice actually had objections so I'm not seeing the reason to change the previously working system.
>>
>>44269997
Well, it'd be pretty difficult to have gotten shot by the sniper if he didn't know we were there, and he probably has, I dunno, a radio? Also mindraping their boss, or trying to. Probably turned his head, let him know there was a hostile about.

If you think the fireball is a thrown projectile, he already pointed out that it's not in the post you replied to.

Its not about keeping WHS or not.

he said he uses what anons agreed on. No one agreed on that purchase one guy just posted. he just posted it, there was no agreement.
We agreed always, since the beginning of this quest by asking for a finilization of the purchase, then AA would repost eit so everyone knew this was what was currently considered so they could voice disagreement.
Thats how it worked. There is no reason at all to change that.
>>

I didn't bother saying anything because it seemed obvious to me by how we usually did this that there was nothing agreed on and we just kept the XP in reserve.
>>

You should've bothered saying something because even when AA was doing the XP entirely by himself lack of objection was taken as approval sometimes.
>>
>>44270164
>by how we usually did this that there was nothing agreed on and we just kept the XP in reserve.
This.
I wanted to save XP and since there was no finalised write-up of it, I took it as the purchase being postponed.
>>
>>44270187
No I didn't, because we have ALWAYS done it by finalising the purchase before it got used. There was nothing indicating it is different now. AA only does that in PoJ where he decides the purchases anyway.

TGhere is a reason why we had them finalised before in PRQ always, because of this exact sort of shit happening if we don't. Thats why we did it, there was no reason to change it.
>>
>>44270187
There already enough entitled fucktards who think they should get to run the quest, the last thing we need is them thinking they get to decide by default if we ourchase something or jot and I have to bother yelling down every one of their retarded recommendations just to register for objection.
>>
>>44270187
Only in PoJ, because there he decides anyway and we just give input.
Thats not how we did it in PRQ, and I honestly can't even think of many cases where he made any purchases to begin with.

-I'm going to hit them with something flashy- you explain to Lirael and Rainya, as the cyborgs start shooting at you -and then you hide us in the confusion with your powers Lirael-

-Got it- Lirael responds

-Rainya you take down the cyborgs and the sniper- you add.

-Right- She responds -Uh, where is he?-

With your telepathic abilities you can sense two minds that are opaque to yours, one is high up and off to the side.

-Over there I think- you send the location and direction to Rainya even as you summon a fireball, it bursts amid the cyborgs, incinerating some and knocking others down.

-Now!- You send to Lirael. You can feel her reaching into the minds of those around you, as you all rush forwards and to the side. Your foes may figure you've hidden somehow and try to take you our with blind shots. As you move the Rainyas start blasting the cyborgs around you with her pistols, taking out several of them.

“Where's they go?” you hear several cyborgs bellow variations of this. In the distance you hear loud yelling and chanting, like hundreds of voices shouting at once. Could that be Helwiaths doing?

Several of the Rainyas also blast away at the snipers location in the distance.

-Did I get him?- She sends. There's no returning fire, so maybe she did, or maybe she's just keeping his head down.

“They're right there!” bellows a voice from an unseen foe, in the midst of the cyborgs ahead, you think its Doc Melakin “Shoot them!” You hear something that sounds like metal grinding on metal.

Bullets and the occasional laser blast fill the air, but none come close to any of you as you advance through the dust, you're almost on him now, his allies are firing blind.

Dude, read how powers work for just once please.
>If you hit with your weapon, after you deal damage and learn the effects you can reduce the damage you just dealt, in increments of 1, down to a minimum of 0 points of damage. Using this feat you can avoid killing someone by dealing just enough damage to stop them, or deal none at all, or anything in between. If you deal enough damage to kill or destroy your target (reducing them to -10 or more hit points) then you can choose to increase the damage up to any amount. Using this feat you can deal just enough damage to kill a target, or transform a living target into a fine red mist or anything in between. This second part of the feat only affects creatures and objects of your size or smaller – using it on larger targets can tear large holes in them, not destroy them entirely. Using this second ability costs 5 psychic energy points.

World Humbling Strike is IMPOSSIBLE to kill someone with if we don't want to.
>>
>>44270369
World Humbling Strike and Ego Humbling Strike can both be throttled to deal just enough damage to incapacitate. Which you'd know if you had read the powers before complaining about their usage.

-Stay close!- You send urgently to Lirael and the Rainyas as you charge forwards towards Doc Melakin -We're all going for a trip into the desert-

Doc Melakin and his closes guards become clear as you get closer. The Doc himself is a massive mechanical monster, close to 3 metres in height, more machine than man.

The miners around him are of a similar size and all have wicked-looking tools replacing at least one of their arms. Shimmering force shields surround them and they fire machine guns and laser rifles in your direction as the Doc bellows and points at you. It seems he can see you fine.

-I hope this works- Send Rainya grimly as the shots start impacts upon the shields of some of her bodies.

-It will- You reassure her.

The massive screaming mechanical form of the Doc slams its grasping mechanical claws together as you approach and electricity dances between them. With Lirael and the Rainyas at your side you teleport yourself, your allies, and Doc Melakin out into the desert, far from the Hive.

[PE 71/137]

Or try to at least. He is like an immovable stone pillar, even with your Aspect trying to move him, he remains rooted to the spot, or at least, you can't seem to move him, his own Aspect overpowering yours.

He seems to move himself quite easily, rushing forwards with his claws out, lightning dancing around them.

“They're right here!” he bellows, his claws lashing out at you, even as bone-sheathed tentacles explode from your body, deflecting his strikes.

His guards hang back, confused. One yells “we can't see them!” Rainya and Lirael keep shooting at them, adding to their confusion, and some start firing their weapons into the dust cloud around them, trying to find invisible foes. In the distance you can hear police sirens, and the roar of a crowd.

We've been VERY good about covering tracks, and there wouldn't be much in the way of him researching us that'd be accurate in anyway.

It increases DR, reduces cost of Hide, and the hammerstrike with WHS does more damage than using the rifle.

It actually gives +6 Willpower of the King of Hell ranks, which is +12 to the Willpower stat, which bumps WHS from ~160 damage up to 330

Why wouldn't it? It's a humanoid, human sized form with wings and a weird head so it's physically capable of using it. The rifle is a King gift and the only thing Skalogen stops us from using is mutations like Tentacles.

Using Inevitability it is

IF you take him to 0 hit points, do you kill him?

>Y/N

If yes and you want to destroy him utterly as per Ego-Humbling Strike, please say so.

5 minute vote

A no vote means he lives (or rather, that you don't kill him).

So what are we actually going to do with the unconscious cyberdemon?
>>
>>44271624
Mind rape it? Idunno.
>>
>>44271624
Something, I'm sure. I'm kinda curious whether this is his actual body or a drone or what. If he was a machine spirit possessing a robo body he wouldn't need the speaker mounted on the shoulder so it's probably not that.
>>
You raise your sniper rifle and fire shot after shot at Doc Melakin at point-blank range, even as the speaker on his shoulder starts to hum and you are hit by something, its hard to describe, like a hammer hitting your whole body at once. You keep firing, you will succeed, you cannot afford to fail here.

The pain drives you to your knees, tears blur your sight and you are barely aware of Lirael disappearing, off hunting the sniper. Rainya makes several shots before her bodies are likewise knocked down and you hear her screaming. You clench your teeth and shut your eyes tightly.

But just as suddenly as it starts, the assault and pain stop. You open your eyes and look around. In front of you, the massive form of Doc Melakin stumbles back, holes torn in his mechanical armour: blood and oil leaking out of him.

“No...” he rumbles “no...this is not how it ends, I was...I was promised...”

-Got him!- Lirael crows triumphantly. The Rainyas clamber to their feet and start exchanging fire with the cyborgs – with Lirael off hunting the sniper, they seem to be able to see you now, and bullets and plasma fire hammer your force shields.

Doc Melakin sways...and then comes crashing down, beaten, but not yet dead. His fall shakes the ground. The cyborgs around you scream his name and come rushing forwards, but they are not a match for you and Rainya, and soon they are all defeated.

As the dust cloud starts to clear you can see a small army of police clashing with a vast mob of crazed citizens, the fight isn't over yet....

Too powerful and too much risk of disloyalty to risk keeping him as a servant for me. Maybe we can rip out his aspects and give them to Dev, or consume them...
>>
>>44271683
>give them to Dev
Yes please!
>>
>>44271683
Dev needs some love power wise. Also maybe we can shunt Kae off to him.

>>44271682
Who want's to bet that he got manipulated by a Baalzi Avatar? Possibly the mob raiser?
>>
>>44271683
We need higher Tally the Slain to steal his aspects. We could rip out his soul and hang onto it until we're able to tear out aspects, but that's a long ways coming. Right now we probably want to teleport him into the desert or some shit and go tell Kulrathe to not kill too many innocent people, then go rooting around in his mind.

If his aspect is Machines or something like that it'd be pretty cool to give to Dev. I have no idea what it actually was since it went head to head with Impossibility in a magical willpower slugfest so it might not be Machines.

>>44271766
Well, seeing as the person he was allied with is a woman who betrayed the rebellion and sold all her allies to the fae in order to get herself a seat as Governor of her hive...
>>
Regarding XP use. After discussion with AA he has confirmed that he is willing to post his suggestions at the end of threads as the 'official' XP use.

Obviously anons can agree, disagree, offer alternative suggestions etc.

If there is a clear consensus, then I'm planning on using this, or repost in next thread if not.

Alternatively, if anons prefer, suggestions can be collected at thread end and dropped into the following thread as a standard practise, to allow discussion, and to allow for a vote to be called if needed.

I welcome your views.

>that he is willing to post his suggestions at the end of threads as the 'official' XP use
We alway just asked him to slot in the purchase ideas someone had come up with to give others a final chance to object... why is it a problem to just keep doing that?

Impossibility-warped Six Element Cascade

Elements are as follows

Eldritch: Target may go temporarily insane
Empyreal: Deals additional damage and applies penalties to those deemed to be 'evil' (subjective but those who favour Baalzamon and the King of Hell automatically qualify)
Infernal: Mutate targets, mutations are either negative, or under your control.
Entropy: Slain targets rise as undead. Heals caster if it damages living targets.
Order: Dispels magic, deals additional damage to fae
Faith: Deals additional damage to enemies of your religion (subjective, but at a minimum, all other Reunited qualify, as do those granted Gifts by other Reunited)
>>
>>44271791
Well he's mostly made of machines and probably has some antinite kicking around in there to let him resist our bullshit.
>>
>>44271824
If people want to talk about shit and then AA cobbles it together into something resembling what people like, that seems like it'd be cool.
>>
>>44271862
>why is it a problem to just keep doing that?

Its not, except that he's not always available, and (in my view) its putting a lot of pressure on someone who is not the QM to always be there when the QM is.
>>
>>44271876
>Faith: Deals additional damage to enemies of your religion (subjective, but at a minimum, all other Reunited qualify, as do those granted Gifts by other Reunited)
What about Syrnians? Seems like they'd automatically qualify.

On 28th December I will be running a one-off christmas-themed thread for Egwen Girls School Quest.

But who will be the POV character? (Not Sallazar)

We could get levels in Ascension if you wanted and make some kind of void angel thingy with a holy sword. Maybe Pally'd let us stuff our Impossiblelemental Cascade into the sword.

Being Chame and the whole thing turning into a christmas movie about friendship and actually impacting that plotline might be fun.

It's based on Void, which is black.

Void is actually colorless, it's just perceived as black because your brain cannot comprehend it's true form.
